SDCC 2026 Hot Toys & Sideshow Booth Tour

Starting off with something brand new from Hot Toys they've teased this we just saw the tease go up on Facebook a couple of days ago but this is from Solo Leveling. It's not an anime that I've seen but the fantastic people at Sideshow specifically Guy he was explaining what the anime is about and I love the concept so you know what after seeing this figure in person knowing that I'm going to have to review it I might just watch the show but love the effect pieces he's also got the screen in the background and seamless forearms. We've already got a full figure preview video for her already live on the channel we go way more in depth there because unfortunately here we're just not going to be able to do that because they didn't have any of the accessories for the figures they have on display in front of them in these cases like what they usually do. But they did have a hell of a lot of stuff here so there's plenty for us to talk about. Ryan is over in Hong Kong he's going to be attending ACGHK so stay tuned there will be proper figure preview videos for the new stuff that they've got on display there. Mostly the same stuff as San Diego I would imagine but hopefully just with all of their accessories. The same thing with Weapon X here the reason why I shot it is because I actually got to see it in person and I like the body there's a lot of skin texture there's a lot of detail I'm still hoping they give us a Hugh Jackman version using this body because we saw him in the Weapon X outfit and apparently this is very accurate to that outfit but Artisan Thor this is my first time seeing it in person. My biggest takeaway was I think they need to slightly adjust the proportions. I was with Will and I said that his neck looked a little bit short I don't know if they adjusted it but he started to look better the more I was looking at him but I mean here you could see the neck does look a touch short maybe or it could be the cape is very high the shoulders are too low I don't know something proportionately just isn't quite right but the sculpt looks very realistic the hair looks great he's got moving eyes he's got the platinum silicon arms there's a lot to love about this Thor especially the display base being magnetic and bespoke to him but Mark 43 Deluxe love the Ultron drone that's sort of the figure but also like not they've got him just on the ground biting Iron Man's ankle for some reason it's an interesting display choice but I'm glad that we're finally getting an Ultron drone the matte finish on the Mark 43 is beautiful light just reflects off the surface in a different way versus the old one he's not glossy he's not super reflective it's got this softness to it but this right here is making a huge case for painted arc reactors and painted eyes because he looks completely dead yes he will look better when you have him plugged in and lit up but not everyone is able to do that so maybe one day they'll give us a version that you can have displayed lit up or displayed without the lights turned on and still have it look like the suit is powered now unfortunately they didn't have brand new day Punisher on display with the brand new day pieces they do have one last kill Punisher and now seeing it in person I was very happy with the head sculpt I think the likeness to Jon Bernthal is great some people complained that the hair was too big I feel the hairstyle is pretty accurate same thing with the beard I was a lot more impressed with this in person than I thought I was going to be but I could say the exact opposite about this deck in his bowed bison armor and Bud still not a huge fan of Bud and also deck didn't really have a lot of presence I guess that comes from him being more of a runt style predator I suppose but he wasn't big he wasn't really all that impressive to look at other than there being a lot of detail to his armor his outfit I just don't think this is my favorite look for a predator but this potentially is my favorite look for a John Wick beautiful display base great proportions killer tailoring we've got wires in the outfit including in the tie I believe head sculpt was on point looks like the artisan John Wick one head sculpt just with the more messier hairstyle for a lot of people including me I think this is going to be the John Wick to have you get the katana you get some of his iconic weapons not all of them I just wish we had seamless forearms because as you can see the wrist pegs are pretty visible especially right up front in this particular pose I'm not sure why they went with it you could also see the seam on top of the head sculpt where the back hair piece comes off to move the eyes around heaps of time for them to adjust that dark knight returns blue suit batman I've got a full preview video on batman and superman already live on the channel huge dark knight returns fan I've got a 9.4 graded issue number one first edition dark knight returns comic and I'm going to display that right next to the black suit version of batman with the blue suit one and this superman as well I'm hoping we get more variants of batman but we'll have to wait and see supergirl was a surprise I didn't think I would like this piece as much as I did in person sometimes these things hit different and the colors with the outfit nice and vibrant you can see her next to comic book dark knight return suits color palettes are pretty similar the head sculpt with the smile I think works the sculpted hair the layering is on point there's a lot of depth to the hair zero complaints with supergirl except for the fact that unfortunately the movie's not doing super well so I don't think we're going to get any more pieces from that film I mean he could argue like what else would you want from that movie and I would have said prior to this film dropping maybe a kryptonian suit version of kara or superman like a 2.0 with a different expression like a smiling head sculpt maybe a different display base maybe more accessories they could have gone deeper with this line but as I said the movie didn't perform well so that's why they're not water scale joker 2.0 this thing is glorious they finally nailed it with the weathering on the outfit the coat is dirty it's absolutely filthy in fact there's dirt and grime all over it the display base is interesting you've got chunks of the bat pod the hair is like 10 out of 10 good very thin strands the hairline is impeccable he's got moving eyes of course this looks like the bank robber artisan head sculpt just blown up to quarter scale so now I'm even more excited to get that bank robber artisan joker in hand if the sculpt ends up being as good as the new quarter scale one but we'll do a full figure preview video on quarter scale joker when Ryan gets the pictures I actually said to the folks at sideshow that Arkham Origins Batman's belt is sitting too low and they sort of agreed with me but apparently they were told to leave it like that I don't know why it's sitting as low as it is it does need to be adjusted but hopefully he drops soon Skeletor and He-Man so much presence especially with Skeletor that vibrant blue body seeing these things in person I've said this already but just one more time they just hit different the display bases are epic the paint applications inside snake mountains snake mouth makes it look like it's glowing the translucent crystal on He-Man's chest looks like it has a lot of depth to it it's as I said translucent it was so tactile in the movie when it transformed as he was going through his transformation and I think they captured the look of that crystal beautifully but Sam Porter bridges from Death Stranding 2 this is a different version of his outfit it's like a skin of sorts how do you feel about them doing this because for me I think they shouldn't have dropped this variant before releasing the first one like don't drop a variant of a figure that's not even out yet because then people will have to cancel and likely won't be able to cancel their first one to get that one why not drop it let people see what their figure is like in hand first and then announce a new one later down the track but anyway moving on to Alien Warrior I know I'm lagging behind a bit the blue metallic on this was gorgeous light just bounced off the surface beautifully then Ripley surprisingly I was more impressed with Ripley's head sculpt than I thought I was going to be I love the Reebok branding on those shoes as you can see there was a significant ankle tilt going on so there must be soft plastic PVC Reeboks but the likeness did come through especially under this con lighting there was a lot of shadow there was a more harsh light on one side we lit her specifically for this video we had some panel lights but as I said this head sculpt impressed me more than I thought it was going to still not perfect still could do with some tweaking but the power loader is interesting this is actually their first power loader they've grabbed one out of storage they've slathered it in paint there's silver chipping now there's scratches like airline ones and bigger ones and there's schmutz all over it but this is the first one they've just recycled or upcycled one I don't think that is going to be what we get with the new version of the power loader they probably will redo it but just to have something on display next to alien queen that is likely why they repainted an original version you could also tell because it still says cat a killer on the back and the power buttons in the same place as the 1.0 plus the struts but the pincers were rusted exactly the same as the 1.0s because I guess they used an inferior quality steel and over time they rusted but holy shit alien queen was gigantic and very blue I was not expecting the blue to be as vibrant as it is but you could see like there's a crazy amount of vibrancy to that blue there's also shading on the panels and there's this tiger stripe effect the rod up front to hold alien queen up is not as noticeable as it is in the promo pictures just because it's underneath her it's in a lot of shadow because as I said it's underneath alien queen so it's just covered in shadow it's a black support rod too so it literally just disappears well it doesn't literally but it sort of does I found out some interesting inside information about why brand new day spider-man does not come with an unmasked tom holland head sculpt for those thinking that we're going to get one with a tom holland head sculpt apparently something has changed in his contract in terms of likeness rights there should slash will not be a spider-man from brand new day with a tom holland head sculpt there just isn't allowed to be one maybe that will change in the future but at this very moment that is why they did final swing suit under the no way home license because they can still give us a tom holland head sculpt and it's forwards compatible with this piece so that was very interesting to find out and I thought I'd relay that information I wish they would say that themselves but allegedly that is what's happening this hulk is a masterpiece this is exactly what we have all been waiting for multiple head sculpts moving eyes seamless from head to toe except for the wrist area but from most angles you can't even really see the wrist seams it's not a deal breaker for me the detail is outstanding the skin texture the vein work and something that I didn't notice in the promo pictures but was much more apparent in person he's got this sweaty look which I suppose the hulk should have right like it just makes sense for him then moving on to the marvel rival stuff I'm not sure why they started this line with luna snow I don't play marvel rivals so let me know if you know why they chose to start off with her instead of moon knight or spidey or venom or one of the other popular characters from this game like am I just missing something am I completely out of touch that could totally be the case but they also announced jeff the land shark but anyway moving on to kpop demon hunters I've got a figure preview video live for all three of them zoe mira and roomie in person the colors pop the seamless bodies look great the weapons with the translucency the bases are nice and vibrant these are going to stand out in the display no question but I'm wondering if they're going to make alternative outfit versions I would double dip I would get a golden outfit set of the trio as well I was hoping we'd get some of the sarja boys but it doesn't look like they're interested in doing that at least for now maybe eventually once these come out they'll see how these sell and then they'll give us more but I don't have any inside information on that I'm not certain that is what they're doing but moving on from the main case to the star wars one they had this entire alcove completely dedicated to star wars there was so much here most of it has already been covered on the channel so scroll back through the playlist for figure preview videos you'll find them for almost all of this stuff if not reviews because some of it is quite old but two shelves mandalorian and grogu stuff at the bottom more classic star wars up top either way it was great to see a lot of this stuff at the con face to face plus there was some new stuff that they haven't announced yet such as quarter scale grogu with the anzelans and quarter scale mando and embo i'm not 100 that they're going to continue this line because the movie just like super girl that we discussed earlier in the video didn't do well rod of the hut was but not super big i think fitting him in the display he's not really wide or long or tall which is a combination of a middle ground of all of that stuff so i don't think it's going to be much of a problem if you've got a decent amount of space on your mando shelf embo's elbow joints they need to go they are so ugly will they make this quarter scale anzelan speeder with the anzelans and grogu i mean i would likely get it because the anzelans for me were some of my favorite characters in the movie they were so freaking funny and grogu had a great little relationship with them they stole the scenes that they were in in the film because of how funny they were so yeah like i said i would buy them but we've already got a preview video live on the channel for this i think that this should have released when the movie came out you know how they do that like they did final swing suit spidey and deadpool from deadpool and wolverine why didn't they do that for mando big head scratcher same thing with quarter scale han solo another head scratcher because where's chewy and luke skywalker and stormtroopers and old ben and princess lair like the list goes on this is exactly what i was worried about them announcing one quarter scale a new hope figure and then not giving us any more because what on earth are you supposed to do with this like who do you display him with but moving on to artisan qui-gon i know we're going pretty quickly this we've already got a preview video live on the channel for him in person the likeness was very strong to liam neeson the hair looked perfect the difference between the sculpted beard and the rooted hair up top i wish they'd have figured out a way to do the beard rooted as well that might currently be beyond their capabilities but maybe in the future they will be able to do rooted hair beards bush version of princess leia this is likely not everyone's first choice for a princess leia maybe not even their second but the head sculpt is impeccable moving eyes for the first time with a carrie fisher head sculpt and a very detailed intricate outfit that's beautifully weathered plus from an iconic scene in return of the jedi so yeah i'm very excited to get her then the new version of yoda his inner robes are a lot lighter versus the last prequel one we got and he's got the translucent flight pole for aerial poses plus moving eyes still the rooted hair for a lot of people not only those who missed out on the first one this is probably going to be the definitive one sixth scale prequel yoda it just looks like an upgrade in every way versus the last one but zeb if you're building out your one six scale rebels crew you need to have him he's big he's got presence very colorful outfit and the fur looks great except for the seams at the wrists i'm hoping they adjust for that i promise you some caustic plastic and here it is we've got jareth multiple versions of the goblin king plus a goblin and we've got hoggle the dwarf on his little separate display base there's so much going on here i've seen labyrinth once a very long time ago now i probably have to do a rewatch but there's one detail that they nailed and i'm so happy they did because it's very important it's david bowie in this role one of his eyes he's stained an injury to it and his pupil was always fully dilated even though he's got moving eyes you can see that that left eye they made sure to capture that in one sixth scale and that is just brilliant but the likeness is awesome the hair looks so well teased and styled very movie slash era specific the outfit the proportions there is very little to complain about here and then you've got this gigantic diorama display base plus apparently you can magnetize the baby toby underneath the ledge instead of above it if i've got room to display a gigantic diorama like this i don't see why i wouldn't or why you wouldn't because it just adds so much more visual interest and intrigue having a baby upside down in the display also this goblin's mask can open up but look at the paint applications on the armor it's got that green oxidization effect and that cannot have been easy to achieve then for hoggle quite a large head sculpt proportionately that looks accurate to him in the movie then the rooted hair eyebrows i've never seen rooted hair eyebrows before so this is a first for me and the diorama display base there's so much to look at here even though it is a relatively small piece like the scissors and the keys and whatnot on his outfit but this little display this part of sideshow statue and one sixth scale figure display got me so freaking the hype i love beetlejuice you all know that about me and a second version of lydia plus beetlejuice in his red wedding outfit i've been waiting for them to do different outfits for beetlejuice forever and i think more is yet to come so fingers crossed that happens but red dress lydia i was this close to getting the first version of lydia and i still might this red dress like there is no denying she's going to pop in the display the little sparkles on the outfit the layering with the frills then she's got the flowers with the color matching to her dress wrapping then there's some fabric underneath the flowers the head sculpt looks beyond sideshow's capabilities i don't know if it's got moving eyes but the likeness is there it looks like a young winota rider i think they outsourced it they've apparently got a team in korea who paint the head sculpts maybe they do the sculpting as well not to put sideshow down at all but this is one of their best head sculpts and i'm hoping the final production version turns out exactly like the prototype but we'll have to wait and see this beetlejuice as well great tailoring with the outfit everything is laying nicely he's got the really front part for the shirt there's also green weathering on the outfit and the head sculpt that is michael keaton as beetlejuice hairstyle is different it's more styled versus the first one like the crazy poofy look but i'm all in on their beetlejuice figures i can't wait to get them now at the end of this super impressed with hot toys
