[00:00:00] Speaker 1: the neka teenage mutant ninja turtles line is dead this really is the worst timeline let's get to it among the many great reveals of san diego comic-con 2026 we had one true devastating reveal and it was by neka and it was the news that the team up between neka and teenage mutant ninja turtles would be no more thanks to that idiot over there and this has such huge implications on the ninja turtle action figure scene that yes i do indeed have to make this video and i just want to talk about how trash this is because i saw a lot of comments saying oh well they had a good run or hate to see him go but they did all they could man no okay no no i i'm not having any of that because first of all i'm a teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012 fan it's my favorite piece of media of all time and this line got nuked before it could even take off and second bro like we had so much more in the tank i feel like but that's just what i want to talk about in this video but first let's take a small look back before neka ninja turtle action figures were run by one giant and i think you all know who that giant is it's playmates playmates was in charge of pretty much every single ninja turtle action figure of all time and definitely at least one action figure that comes to your mind but they weren't exactly collector friendly no neka saw the void in collector friendly ninja turtle figures and they did something about it and in 2008 they released some of the best ninja turtle figures we've ever seen still to this day these are so highly sought after like if you look one up it's either a bootleg or it's super expensive because it's a real deal and that's honestly for good reason 18 years later and i personally still want one of these and it's just because not only did they look amazing not only did they have the accessories but they had a really respectable articulation especially for 2008 they still pretty much hold up to this day they started off hot with these generational figures and they kind of kept the momentum rolling in 2009 they released april to go along with these figures and she obviously wasn't as great but it was a respectable start and fans were really starting to hope yeah so that was the first issue because as soon as people started to hope they took um let's see here they took a seven year hiatus coming back in 2016 for their 1990s movie donatello but this donatello wasn't in the same scale as those previous figures so obviously is less regarded but as time kept rolling they kept releasing more and more figures and eventually that 112th representation ended up popping out and when it did everything just clicked so beautifully it started in 2018 with smaller scale versions of the movie figures and by the time of 2019 they had already reached into the cartoon market and these were undoubtedly the best turtles figures we had ever gotten at least looks wise they managed to make it seem like they just ripped these characters straight off the screen the articulation was not as good as it could have been especially compared to everything else that was being put out at the same time and honestly what they had released previously was a tad bit better but nobody really cared because the accessories and aesthetics were all really perfect going into the 2020s there were already 16 releases and the moment the 2020s came they ramped it up so much they they released every single filler character you could really think of the love that these creators had for both the 90s movie and the 80s cartoon really showed because they managed to sneak in small little references or little quirks for each character they made dioramas and each figure looked like they had the care that they truly did deserve as the 2020s kept rolling they reached into different turtles markets they got the archie comics they went back to the mirage comics this time adapting how they looked in later issues they started adapting the last ronin they tapped into usagi yojimbo they even made universal monsters which i i'm not sure how many people asked for but i'm sure people appreciated it i mean i i never really wanted it but if you did all the power to you in my head and many other people's heads this was the definitive ninja turtles action figure line and it all peaked at least in my opinion when they got the teenage mutant ninja turtles 2012 show now i don't know if you know and i don't know if you watching this have been around here for a while but my longest video on this channel is about this show because it just means that much to me look at my profile picture it's literally casey jones from this show i also think it was such a turning point because it was them introducing an entirely new generation into their warm embrace i guess for that whole time they had been only doing stuff that came out before a certain generation was born or just comics and stuff but i felt like this was such a turning point and this opened the door for either the 2003 show or the 2009 cartoon and i i don't know it just felt so inviting and when the figures released all my praises i said before applied to them and then some these are my favorite figures in my collection they have an entire section in my action figure shelf just for them because i just assumed that there would be so many more releases that i would be able to fill this whole thing up eventually i had a whole wish list and everything and it was just so perfect and these were just my favorites but then enters the villain of the story mattel has kind of been on a roll recently they got the dc license from mcfarland and a lot of people are really excited about that i'm i'm really excited about that the collector line is coming in january but then they had to poach my ninja turtles not only did they take it from playmates first of all they took it from playmates they took it from the ninja turtle action figure distributor the the one that built this franchise brick by brick they took it from playmates and then they took it from neka they took it from the kid friendly line and then they took it from the collector line so now i'm kind of concerned about how they're even gonna approach this because mattel isn't exactly known for their collector friendly looks i'm already skeptical about their collector friendly dc line i'm really expecting it to turn out how marvel legends has turned out but i don't want marvel legends-esque ninja turtle figures no i want them to look good neka had a way of making them look good even if the articulation wasn't great they looked perfect and marvel legends don't be looking perfect and mattel figures surely don't be looking perfect so i'm just kind of concerned about what direction they're gonna go in and it's it's just so heartbreaking because like i said the team nt 2012 line barely even got to get its feet off the ground like okay the 80s line had so many figures like if you're a fan of the 80s turtles or even the movie turtles like you're fine you're honestly fine there's nothing you really missed out on but bro if you're a fan of the 2012 turtles or even like if you were hoping like me honestly that they would get like rise or the other movie looks or the other better movie looks no even the ones that they revealed like slash slash isn't coming he wasn't up for pre-order because i'm assuming they still had stuff to do with him but he wasn't at sdcc they didn't show him off and now that the license is gone they haven't said anything about him they've only said something about lo and behold another 80s figure tempestra so i'm assuming slash is just gone and recently sierra nelly the one who created the tmt 2012 show and the one who's been spearheading this whole neca tmt 2012 action figure campaign with neca has recently posted this picture showing off all the prototypes that they had just cooked up just waiting for release this probably isn't even all of them and honestly i do think these releases are pretty weak i would have been pretty mad if we got i don't even remember his name this is my favorite piece of media and i don't even remember his name but i would have been really mad if we got him before april but i like the larper costumes and you have the creep back there and you you see slash you see casey and it's this is terrible like these were my favorite figures of all time and it just i know i just know mattel won't live up to the hype it's a it's a terrible ending but they did have a good run like i said if you're a 80s fan of 90s movie fan honestly if you're an archie fan or like a a last ronin fan like you're eating pretty good but yeah i i don't know i had no real vision when i was making this video i just kind of wanted to talk about it and just complain because it sucks but yeah but honestly maybe either one neka does some you know slight moving around and ends up finding a way to release the 2012 figures that they already had conjured up or mattel cooks i i really wholeheartedly think that's so unlikely but if mattel cooks i will eat my words if they do their thing i will eat my words honestly if they produce something even close to what super 7 cooked up that's fine i guess i'd take neka over super 7 any day yeah i don't know i just wanted to talk but yeah let me know what you think in the comments and um
