NEW LEGO Lord of the Rings 2027 Leaks EDORAS, MUMAK & Battlepacks!

So it has been a little while since my last LEGO Lord of the Rings video, but I think this one is going to be worth the wait. The big news kicking off this list is a heavily rumoured Mumakil build, finally bringing the forces of the Haradrim into LEGO form. This is set 11395, the Oliphant, which reportedly has 2,017 pieces and a rumoured retail price of around £200 to £250. So let's talk about the build, because the rumours are suggesting that we are going to be seeing a large diorama-style display featuring a massive brick-built Mumakil that focuses on structural stability and display potential. It will also include a detailed Haulda, that is the multi-tiered wooden structure that sits on top of the Mumak's back and carries the Haradrim Warriors and the Mahud Beastmaster. Now, while it would be very cool to see a Faramir's Rangers Mumak ambush set, it is far more likely that this is a Mumak from the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, which will tie in LEGO Icons Minas Tirith in terms of display, which of course sets up the perfect clash between the Haradrim and their Mumaks and King Theoden and his Riders of Rohan. Meaning that the minifigure situation here is really very exciting. Could we be seeing an updated King Theoden and his horse Snowmane? Or potentially even the first ever Lady Erwin minifigure? According to the leaks so far, it is rumoured to have between 5 and 7 minifigures, which definitely feels a little low. Though this minifigure count has not yet been confirmed officially. And considering the original King Theoden minifigure is one of LEGO's best minifigures ever, updating this new Theoden and making it worthwhile is going to take some very detailed design work. Alongside Theoden, I would of course expect to see some Riders of Rohan. But depending on how many figures LEGO is fitting in, and how much they want to give us hardcore fans something to be excited about, these Rohan Riders could of course include Lady Erwin and Meriadoc Brandybuck in his Rohan armour. And because LEGO Icons Minas Tirith included both Faramir and Pippin in his Citadel Guard armour, this thematically would make some really nice pairings complete, and almost round off the main LEGO Lord of the Rings character line-up. A quick side note, however, on Lady Erwin and Merry, because I would much rather see them in a small, let's say $30 to $40 dual style set, than to see them kind of partially included inside this Moomax set. But stick with me, because we will be diving into those smaller sets very shortly. But as for the other minifigures that may be included, I think it would be essential to include a Mahud Beastmaster, who we see multiple times on screen during the Return of the King. Perhaps with some kind of reins and a control system built into the Moomax so that it can be commanded for battle. And then, of course, there would have to be some Harajan warriors. And on the Moomax, I want to see at least four warriors, even working at LEGO's low minifigure count standard. Ideally, I'd want to see more like 6 to 8. We see it quite packed out in the battle scenes in the movies. If this set included four new Harajan warriors, a Mahud Beastmaster, an updated King Theoden on Snowmane, and some Rohan soldiers, potentially including Erwin or Merry. I honestly really think that this set could work. But as soon as I know more, I will let you know. And moving on to some huge news now, and some Palantiri tracking. Because for the last three years, we have not been sure that LEGO Lord of the Rings will continue. I have another full video breaking down why this iconic theme failed back in 2014. But now, 12 years later, things are looking very different indeed. After back-to-back popular releases with Rivendell, Barad-Dur, The Shire, and now, of course, Minas Tirith, the Moomakill confirms that this theme is getting more attention from the LEGO group at last. And we actually already know that we will be getting another giant LEGO Icons location following the Moomakill in late 2027. So another massive Icons Middle-Earth location is locked in for late next year. And the only information I have confirmed about it so far is that it will include another Palantiri. Which, if we look at Tolkien lore and the sets that LEGO has already made, narrows things down significantly. So there are seven Palantiri that appear throughout Middle-Earth during the Third Age. There was a stone kept in Osgiliath, known as the Osgiliath Stone. However, it was lost in the River Anduin in the year 1437 of the Third Age during a civil war called the Kinstriath, when rebels burned the city down. However, despite the Palantiri's presence, Osgiliath is a ruined city, and I don't see it fitting thematically into LEGO's lineup. It doesn't get enough screen time, and it doesn't have enough presence as an actual structure. Then, for my deeper lore fans, we also have Minus Ithil, which, by the Third Age, has become known as Minus Morgul, but was built as the sister city of Minus Tirith. It has a very awkward architectural design, it has very limited screen time, we get very limited interior descriptions throughout the books. Before we get to what I am fairly certain is going to be our 2027 Icon set, there are a couple of details that we should look at first, because multiple other Palantir locations have already been released as LEGO sets, both Rivendell and Barad-Dur, along with Minus Tirith, which actually included a Palantiri easter egg. The Palantir featured a rider of Rohan against a glowing sky, with their sword raised for battle, hinting that we could see Edoras or Helm's Deep as the next Icon's location. And interestingly, depending on which lore you go by, both Edoras and Helm's Deep had a Palantiri present at one point or another during the Third Age. And this is where things get exciting and a little confusing, because we're going to focus in on the Orthanc stone here, which was present at the Tower of Orthanc. However, in the Peter Jackson movies, the chronology of the timeline and some of the geography of Middle-earth was changed, meaning the presence and location of this Orthanc stone differs completely between the movies and the books. In the books, Tolkien wrote that Pippin stole the stone and looked into it while the company is camped at Dol Baran, a hill just outside the borders of Isengard. Gandalf then sends the stone with Aragorn directly onto Helm's Deep, completely bypassing Edoras. But in the Peter Jackson movies, the stone goes directly to Edoras. Pippin retrieves it from the floodwaters of Isengard, and then, while everyone is asleep inside the Golden Hall of Megiseld, he steals it from Gandalf and immediately gets tortured by Sauron. With that said, Lego tends to follow the Peter Jackson movies thematically and in terms of design, which would point directly, when taken with the Palantiri leak, to mean that we are going to see Edoras, the Golden Hall of Megiseld, as the next Lego icon's location. And so, until I can confirm this further, this does remain unconfirmed officially, but all evidence and roads are pointing towards Edoras and the Golden Hall. And to be honest, even without these leaks and these bits of information, Edoras would logically be the next most important location for Lego to adapt. But look, a $250 Moomakill, or another $500 Lego Icons, Edoras, in this case, does not address the biggest problem with Lego Lord of the Rings at the moment, and that is still the lack of any smaller, more affordable sets. For years now, fans have quite literally been begging Lego to give them cheaper ways to build out their Middle-Earth armies. Instead of only doing large-scale adult collector-based sets, it would be very easy for Lego to introduce some $20 to $40 battle packs, allowing us to recreate some of the most legendary battles inside Lord of the Rings. There are easily 20 Lego Lord of the Rings battle packs off the top of my head, if we go through elves, dwarves, humans, orcs, goblins, and a variety of other races that feature in Tolkien's legendarium.
