'It's sick!': Nicolle SLAMS Trump wanting to pay Jan. 6ers

[0:08] First of all, I've elated congratulations on your wonderful new show. [0:12] I'm so happy to be here on it with you. [0:15] You know, I watched those cabinet meetings and I keep thinking that in Pyongyang, Kim Jong-un is the one throwing spaghetti against a wall. [0:25] I mean, these are for president in such dire political straits, which he is, to have blocked out of his orbit people who I find their politics loathsome and their ethics non-existent. [0:38] But their their sort of understanding of mega politics were pretty great. [0:43] People like Steve Bannon, people who were around Trump in the first term. [0:47] I mean, this is not what the base wants to hear about. [0:50] This is what about, you know, probably three percent of Trump's own voters want to hear about. [0:54] The other, you know, 30 percent want to hear about the cost of groceries and the cost of gas and this war that feels intractable in the Middle East that Donald Trump specifically promised in 2015 and 16 he would never get the country involved in. [1:09] So I used to really recoil. [1:11] I mean, you and I have both spent years now interviewing the brave law enforcement officials, people like Michael Fanon and Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges and all the folks who put their bodies between Trump's insurrection. [1:24] As supporters and Republican and Democratic lawmakers, those are the real heroes and those are people who had the crimes carried out against them, exonerated and pardoned by Donald Trump. [1:36] But now he wants to pay their attackers. It's sick and it's terrible politics for Trump. [1:41] Right. I wonder how they felt hearing the president describe the insurrection as an innocent journey. [1:47] Here's the thing. You and I also talk a lot about the theatrics of the Trump administration. [1:52] And under normal times, it would make sense to convene the cabinet. [1:55] You could address any number of these issues, crises facing the nation. [1:59] But we're not even sure why this cabinet meeting is happening at this specific moment. [2:05] Was the meeting for him or was it for the American people? [2:09] Oh, I mean, they're always for him. And I don't I don't know if you watch any. [2:15] My favorite thing to watch is reality TV, real estate stuff. [2:20] And it's like he was showing off the room. You know, he's like this great room. [2:23] Most presidents go there every weekend. [2:26] I think this might be the second time he's gone for a cabinet meeting ever in both terms. [2:31] So, you know, I think he just wanted to tour the premise. [2:36] He's obsessed with renovations. [2:39] Maybe he's considering gold for those walls, too. [2:42] I mean, this has nothing to do with governing ever because it never does. [2:46] He spends his time tacking gold things to walls, printing things out and posting them. [2:51] And I think importantly, he should have been there celebrating the confirmation of the most [2:57] sycophantic attorney general he's had in six. [2:59] But he screwed Todd Blanch over by refusing to scuttle that slush fund. [3:04] So if there was an occasion at any point from this meeting, it should have been, [3:09] in their views, celebrating his vote out of committee. [3:11] But Trump made sure that didn't happen. [3:14] Well, to follow your analogy, if this was, in fact, a reality TV show that was based on [3:19] real estate listings, he's just showing you everything he can rent because he doesn't [3:23] actually own any of this because most of these people, not most, so many of them have not been [3:28] Senate confirmed. [3:29] I also, you know, you poll after poll, all people want to hear about is the economy. [3:34] They want to hear about affordability. [3:35] And that was actually the least of the headlines coming out of this. [3:38] You heard a little bit about the supposed agreement with Hamas. [3:42] You heard a little bit about Iran and Ukraine, all legitimate crises. [3:47] You didn't hear much about the president's plan to make everyday life affordable for Americans. [3:52] Because we've already heard what he really thinks about affordability. [3:57] I mean, the thing with Trump 2.0 is he doesn't have the impulse control to keep anything in. [4:02] And he truly believes that affordability is a, quote, hoax being carried out, a war being [4:08] waged against him, another hoax like the Russia investigation by Democrats. [4:12] So, I mean, I think the joke will be on him in November. [4:15] But the reason he doesn't talk about the economy is because he doesn't believe that there are [4:20] people suffering and he doesn't care that the vast majority of his own voters are suffering. [4:26] He doesn't believe them. [4:27] And I think it's a real mask off moment for the 10 years we've been covering MAGA, where [4:31] I don't know what proportion of them are still open to hearing the truth about Trump, but [4:36] he's telling them the truth. [4:37] He thinks affordability is a hoax.
