VP JD Vance Addresses the DIVIDE on the Right

[0:00] Let's talk about what happened to the GOP base as a result of all this, because it's divided. [0:04] I know you've experienced it yourself. I've experienced it, too. [0:08] It's been sort of a sad, tumultuous, stressful time. [0:11] It's much more fun, I think, for most of us who lean right or right-leaning independents to be fighting with the left. [0:17] But it's been kind of civil war-y over on the conservative teams since this whole thing got launched. [0:22] And the non-interventionalist right feels very betrayed, very betrayed by it. [0:28] And whether you agree that they've been betrayed or not, Mr. Vice President, what do you say to those people? [0:34] Well, what I'd say to them is, one, I think you can walk through all the ways in which this has led to a good place for the United States of America. [0:41] And I'd ask them not to sort of view this purely through the filter. [0:45] I know a lot of these folks are frustrated with the role that Israel has in all this. [0:49] We can talk about that. [0:51] But don't look at it from the lens of, you know, what is it that different people think about it? [0:56] What do you think about it? [0:57] Like, fundamentally, do you think— [0:59] They're against it. [1:00] I've talked to a lot of them. [1:00] But I'm saying, ask yourself. [1:02] I think you can make the best argument that the nuclear program is destroyed, the Iranian conventional military is destroyed. [1:10] We had, yes, a temporary rise in energy prices that's already coming down substantially. [1:15] And we didn't get, as I said repeatedly, we were never going to get the quagmire that a lot of people were warning about because Donald Trump is just not George W. Bush. [1:24] So I would say first, the first argument I'd make is look at where we are right now. [1:28] And I think you can make the best argument that where we are right now is a good place for the United States of America. [1:33] And, again, if we transform the Middle East, this was fundamentally worth it. [1:37] Okay. [1:37] The second argument I'd make, this is maybe, is this. [1:41] Even if you disagree with this particular action, it's completely ridiculous to pick up your marbles and go home. [1:49] That's not how politics works. [1:51] And I've been very much on the inside of a lot of these debates and conversations. [1:55] You know, some people have criticized our immigration policy. [1:58] Some people have criticized tax policy. [2:01] Or some people have criticized foreign policy. [2:03] The way that politics works is that you have to stay engaged in the process. [2:08] You absolutely have to make your voice heard. [2:10] But right now, right now, we have a very good deal for the American people. [2:14] And, importantly, we have a constituency right now that is saying that we're going to send boots on the ground. [2:20] They want Donald Trump to send hundreds of thousands of ground troops into Iran. [2:24] The best thing. [2:25] Those are Republicans. [2:26] But we need people to be pushing back from inside the tent. [2:29] Okay. [2:30] The frustration. [2:30] Some of us push back. [2:32] And then we're told, and I quote, those who speak ill of Mark Levin are not MAGA. [2:37] Well, the president, as he does, is pushing back at a criticism of yours that he thought was unfair. [2:45] Not just me. [2:46] I mean, a lot of the non-interventionalists. [2:47] But I talked to him last night, and I said, Mr. President, I'm going to go on Megyn Kelly's show, and I'm going to defend the administration's policies. [2:52] Absolutely. [2:53] I love that. [2:54] Because, again, he engages, and he's going to criticize you when he agrees or disagrees with you. [3:00] I don't mind. [3:01] He's going to say nice things about you when he agrees with you. [3:03] But that's what I actually love about the president. [3:05] He's not, like, viewing these debates from the outside. [3:09] He's participating in them himself. [3:11] And, again, Megyn, the frustration that I've had with, you know, the non-interventionist side has been that the attitude seems to be, we disagree with the president on this policy. [3:21] Look, we can have that debate, but fine. [3:24] Okay? [3:24] You disagree with the president on this particular policy. [3:27] That doesn't mean you can give up on the entire enterprise. [3:30] Yeah, no, I agree with that. [3:32] The reason why neocons are so much more effective in politics than the people on the other side in our coalition is because they play the game. [3:43] They get disappointed, they make their criticisms, and they go back and they live to fight another day. [3:48] Right now, right now, we need everybody who recognizes that this is a good deal for the American people and that we don't want, like John Potterworth is saying, hundreds of thousands of ground troops in Iran. [4:00] Make your voice heard. [4:01] This is where you've got to participate in the process. [4:04] Disagree when you disagree. [4:05] Agree when you agree. [4:06] But I don't like this idea of the president did something I didn't like, so I'm out. [4:12] Yeah. [4:12] I think it's a very immature way to approach the political process. [4:15] I agree with you. [4:15] And it's the way to ensure that your enemies always win. [4:18] I have been saying the same because a lot of people have been saying that they feel blackmailed by the whole experience. [4:23] You know, like I'm just out. [4:24] And I have been trying to make the point that you can't do that, right? [4:28] No. [4:28] You've got to stay. [4:28] That's right. [4:29] But realistically, as we – because after these midterms are over – [4:32] And let me – sorry. [4:33] Can I make one more point about this, Megan? [4:34] This is, like, very important. [4:35] I'm sorry to interrupt. [4:35] No, it is. [4:36] So look, the coalition that made Donald Trump the president of the United States and J.D. Vance the vice president of the United States, people have to remember this. [4:44] It was Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan. [4:48] It was also Mark Levin. [4:50] It was also a lot of people like John Potterworth who want a more aggressive foreign policy. [4:55] What I think is important – I'm never going to say that John Potterworth is not welcome in the Republican Party. [5:01] He is. [5:02] But just as he's disappointed right now, sometimes other people are going to be disappointed at other times. [5:07] You can't just quit politics because the leader of a country of 330 million people makes a decision you disagree with. [5:16] I agree with you. [5:17] I know a lot of people don't agree with us here. [5:20] They're very, very angry over the Iran war. [5:22] It was, like, their number one issue, and they feel like Trump is not the man they thought he was because he betrayed that promise and didn't explain much about it. [5:30] And I understand their feeling, too. [5:32] But I will just say that, you know, Podoritz and Levin and all those guys, that's the original Never Trump crew. [5:39] They hated him, hated him. [5:41] I was there. [5:41] I had those people coming on my show saying, absolutely not, never Trump. [5:47] And then they embraced him like a bear hug just as soon as he decided he was going to attack Iran and was cozying up with Israel. [5:54] And that's their main issue. [5:56] And now they're starting to get a little wobbly. [5:58] And I wonder whether the president sees maybe his new best friends aren't quite as in love with him and loyal as he thought. [6:04] Yeah, and I would say the same thing to them that I'd say to the non-interventionists who have been a little blackpilled over the last few months. [6:10] I'd say you don't quit the political process just because the president, who, by the way, has way more information than any of his critics have, is making a decision that they don't agree with. [6:20] Disagree with it. [6:21] We have the First Amendment in the United States of America. [6:23] I'm not saying be a patsy. [6:24] I'm not saying be, you know, a person who always falls in line. [6:27] Make your viewpoint understood. [6:29] But I think this is a very important part. [6:32] In a coalition, we have a two-party system in this country. [6:36] You've got, what is it, 80 million people, 85 million people who voted for Donald Trump. [6:40] Nobody is going to agree with the administration 100% of the time. [6:44] So, you know, it actually doesn't bother me that Mark Levin is criticizing this deal, even though I think this deal is great for the American people. [6:52] I'm going to go on a show for the next few days. [6:53] I'm going to defend it. [6:54] What would bother me is if Mark Levin said, you know what, the president did something I didn't like, and I'm going to go home. [7:01] I'm not part of this coalition. [7:02] Screw that guy. [7:03] I think that's the mistake that way too many people across our political system make. [7:25] We really, really value your input and your support. [7:28] We may not always agree, but we are always going to talk about it and respect. [7:33] No BS, no agenda, no fear.
