[0:00] you know it's actually crazy how fast misinformation can spread all over the internet [0:05] either by just a simple tweet that somebody says that sounds kind of right that could be [0:11] an actual report or rumor gets pulled up and dragged across online and everybody believes [0:17] it to be true or you have a news article and journalist which i use that word loosely by the [0:22] way makes a report with nothing more than massive caveats trying to expose and prove that companies [0:29] are in fact leaving steam and the pc platform all at the same time while practically every other [0:35] major developer and publisher is dying to get their game onto pc and even then everyone is [0:41] fiending to find out more about the steam machine as well boy it's kind of crazy how the one entire [0:48] market right now that is growing exponentially which is pc gaming and the one product that has [0:53] everybody's eyes on it is the one thing that game publishers want to get away from i don't believe [0:58] that for a second and if you want some context i'll give it to you you see a couple of weeks back [1:04] jason schreier made a report about a rumor going around that playstation could potentially be [1:10] removing their games from steam and pc even though right now we're seeing 95 of the entire playstation [1:18] library onto the pc platform and steam as well it turns out that future upcoming games were going to [1:24] be no longer placed onto that platform and every single fanboy grabbed that ball and ran with it [1:32] they were ecstatic exclaiming how finally their plastic box and console actually has value as if [1:39] it's some sort of financial investment that you can put money into and get money back but hell with the [1:44] ram crisis right now that could be a viable option but that's with basically any piece of electronics if [1:50] you ask me claiming things like exclusives matter and the only reason to buy a console is for the [1:55] exclusivity of those games even though what you're looking at right now is the fact that the ps5 was [2:01] still massively selling their units and systems all the while putting the games onto pc even if it was [2:08] six months to a year later turns out those systems still sold even with other people getting to play [2:13] those same exclusives well exclusives and i'm gonna be honest about this i don't really trust [2:19] jason schryer's reporting he's the same kind of individual who went around and threw larian [2:25] studios under the bus claiming that using generative ai in their entire pipeline is not a good thing [2:31] overall while having that interview go around and putting out the entire transcript but still making [2:37] larian studios look like the actual villain yet we find out over the weekend as well that it turns [2:42] out that the majority of game studios are already using generative ai on top of that clearly jason schryer [2:48] to me in my opinion has an actual bias not to mention the fact that he knew all about the [2:54] actual harassment happening at activision blizzard for years and did nothing to report on it but [2:59] instead wrote a book on it for his actual own profit but you see it turns out that we're getting [3:05] some more information not from someone like jason schryer or some outside reporting we're getting [3:10] proper information now from an actual ex-executive that was in playstation studios and it turns out [3:17] things may not be what people in fact expect because it turns out you cannot ignore steam [3:23] no matter how much people claim you can according to ign saying this former playstation executive shuhei [3:31] yashida has suggested that sony will struggle to recoup the huge budgets invested in its first party [3:37] games without porting them to pc and also according to wccf tech shuhei yashida shuts down playstation [3:46] purists insists pc ports never hurt ps5 sales but funded the next blockbusters this isn't just some [3:56] random twitter account this isn't just some journalist with questionable ethics no this is someone who was [4:02] on the inside who actually worked at playstation at an executive level and knew what was going on [4:09] exactly at that moment in time hell he even completely documented exactly what was happening [4:14] throughout that entire space during the ps4 and ps5 eras when he was unceremoniously let go and [4:20] basically fired by lying flying crying i want to stop your abk deal jim ryan but i think shuhei's [4:28] insight really points to exactly what so many people have been talking about even if you make the [4:32] argument that oh it's only two to three billion dollars after five years of playstation making money [4:38] off of pc that's not enough it really just encapsulates how completely idiotic people [4:44] truly think about corporations companies don't want a little bit of money they want all the money [4:50] and they're going to sacrifice everything they can to make that money which is exactly why they put their [4:55] games on pc in the first place they saw an entire market who was not going to buy their systems and [5:01] consoles yet turn around and put their games there because extra sales means extra money shuhei yashida even [5:07] admitted it himself putting games on pc is basically just printing free money for that corporation [5:14] and we see these budgets escalate and balloon over and over again fair games getting its own studio and [5:20] now becoming an extraction shooter even though that's not going to go anywhere either and also [5:24] probably fail and collapse marathon also doing the exact same thing where every single week you see [5:30] the player base go lower and lower and lower till it's going to crater off to the bottom as well [5:36] and potentially shut down too a couple of billion dollars for bungie to basically piss everything [5:41] away yet what i find hilarious is how many people clamor and claim about console sales about exclusivity [5:49] yet at the same time all these companies are fighting for that same 100 million user base [5:54] that we've always had since the very beginning since like what the ps2 era which the only people that [5:59] have been able to come close to beating that or have beaten that has been nintendo with the nintendo switch [6:04] one but i think the funnier part is what shuhei in fact says in these articles because clearly [6:10] people seem to be misinformed ign's article says this yashida who previously led sony interactive [6:16] entertainment worldwide studios spoke at alt games earlier this month reflecting on sony's reported [6:22] recent decision to pull back from pc releases when games have never cost more to make saying quote in ps4 [6:30] days still we are making triple a games with big budget yashida said thanks respawn first i somehow [6:36] felt the bigger the budget the safer in some strange way creating bigger better looking games that people [6:42] are asking for in the past it kind of worked you know business wise but in the last five years or so [6:49] publishers and developers must have realized that model may not be sustainable real quick to interject on [6:55] that piece yashida is not the only person that's noticed this even sean laden himself has said the [7:02] triple a big budget video game on its own is also not sustainable if the budget keeps increasing and the [7:09] games get more expensive companies have to do one of two things either keep increasing the price of [7:14] those video games or sell them to more people and honestly i think they're going to be doing both [7:20] because companies are not going to lower budgets they feel the more money they pump into a game's [7:24] development the more money that they will get in fact in return even though we've already seen [7:29] that really isn't how things work especially with the rise of double a games and even indies as well [7:35] but there's more to the article though so let's keep going with yashida saying this releasing games [7:41] on pc after a couple of years must have helped recoup the investment of these big budget games and help [7:48] the team and company to reinvest that money into their new games he added so from a business standpoint [7:54] i think it made sense for me if they were releasing new triple a games day one on other platforms i [8:01] don't think that's a good strategy for a platform holder like playstation i'm not seeing any proof of [8:06] them changing their strategy this generation but if they are changing it's going to be interesting how [8:11] they are able to maintain the investment on big budget games on the first party side going forward [8:18] now i'm going to agree and also disagree with yashida on this aspect i really think one of the big [8:23] failures of playstation on pc was thinking that they could go ahead and release video games on that [8:29] platform at full price without any discounts whatsoever require a psn login and then also do [8:36] it multiple years or six to eight months after the game's initial release and hype has already died [8:42] down i think playstation was literally putting themselves behind the eight ball trying to make this [8:47] not successful just to prove it was not successful and then say well at least we tried and then kind [8:54] of back away from it as well the thing is though yashida is in fact correct game budgets are going to [9:00] increase people are not going to buy 80 to 90 video games and things are going to get even exponentially [9:06] worse we've seen these companies push every single kind of actual anti-consumer practice onto us on a [9:13] consistent basis basically passing off every single cost that they can onto you which is why the ps5 pro [9:21] now costs 900 dollars why the regular ps5 also got a price increase now the third time after the slim [9:29] and it's also happening with nintendo and even xbox as well it is not a good thing watching the price and [9:35] floor of everything we enjoy increase over time pushing everybody out of the hobby and leaving it only [9:42] for just a wealthy few according to wccf tech saying this while some hardware purists argue that pc ports [9:50] devalue the playstation brand yoshida dismissed those concerns as complaints of a vocal minority i do not [9:58] think that really affected the adoption of playstation hardware like ps5 in any way he said after releasing [10:06] playstation first party games on pc essentially became a necessity the rumored pivot back to console [10:12] exclusive games sounds risky saying quote i'm not seeing any proof of them changing their strategy [10:18] this generation but if they are changing it's going to be interesting to see how they are able to maintain [10:24] the investment on the big budget games on first party side going forward yashida san said and here's my [10:30] take about the entire thing if playstation pulls the games away from pc for me it's really not gonna [10:36] matter i don't really care the only reason i was excited about it was to finally put to bed all the [10:41] idiotic moronic fanboys screeching online about how you don't have these video games even though the [10:47] majority of those games i really just don't enjoy the thing is it's going to impact the people that [10:52] actually want to play those games but don't want to buy another 700 or 900 device just to play a couple [10:59] of games as well and that's the real impact about all of this watching prices increase on hardware [11:05] watching prices increase on services and games it's going to be even more difficult to make back [11:10] all that money that game developers and publishers want to make in the first place while squeezing out [11:15] all of the entire user base that can actually afford it and that's the real problem with all of this [11:20] either on one side will have the status quo and nothing will change on the other hand if this rumor [11:25] is in fact correct and yoshida is wrong but jason schreier is right you're going to be seeing playstation [11:31] do whatever they can to nickel and dime and squeeze out every red cent from its existing user base all [11:37] because they wanted to go ahead and provide the value back to that actual loud minority fan base but [11:43] it looks like this entire thing is going to keep going off and the crazier part is the way that so [11:49] many people in fact ignore valve and steam and what's in fact happening in the gaming industry hell an [11:55] entire leak happened recently about the steam controller and the internet itself actually [12:01] exploded just by that alone to ignore valve is to ignore gaming in my opinion because according to [12:10] twitter account hardware steam saying this valve is close to releasing the steam hardware lineup they're [12:17] debating internally whether to release everything at a loss and launch it all soon but regardless we'll be [12:23] hearing an announcement with prices and release dates very soon with the article from insider gaming [12:29] saying this the first piece of valves new steam hardware lineup seems to be close to a release youtube [12:36] channel techie talk posted a review of the steam controller likely breaking embargo that goes into [12:42] details of its features but also gives away what the price could be in the now deleted but re-uploaded [12:48] elsewhere video the channel says the steam controller will cost 99.99 it's actually crazy how the entire [12:58] internet was literally on fire talking about not the steam machine not the steam frame but the literal [13:04] controller of what valve is producing this goes to show the hype meter for this company and this kind of [13:10] hardware is exactly where it needs to be and what people are truly wanting from a video game company [13:16] personally i think the 100 price is a massive sticker shock to me especially for a controller [13:22] now i've got the original steam controller and i got it for like 50 bucks when it first came out [13:27] although i do love this device it has seen better days and some of the buttons really don't fit very [13:33] well the click gets a little bit too loud and annoying for me personally it's just my hot take on [13:37] the thing but i feel personally like the steam controller should not have been 99 but in fact i would [13:42] have been okay with 70 bucks or maybe even 80 bucks at pushing it at the most this does show me that [13:48] we're going to be seeing a far more expensive version of the steam machine coming out and especially [13:54] what the price is going to be in the future and i think that is why playstation may in fact be kind [13:59] of scared about what's happening with the steam machine and the potential rumor of pulling games [14:04] away off of pc see how those two things connect yeah we do a pretty good job here however though i've [14:11] seen some other arguments about the steam controller and it could put into perspective why that controller [14:15] costs as much as it does and also where valve is trying to actually pinpoint what their devices should [14:21] do and the kind of space it should fit in the actual gaming sphere with the article by insider [14:27] gaming saying this the plan was always to release all three new devices at or around the same time [14:34] however due to component shortages and cost increases valve has held back on announcing both the prices [14:40] and release dates for everything in fact the steam machine and in turn the vr headset and controller [14:45] were originally planned for a release in march of 2026 obviously that time frame has come and gone [14:51] with nothing available for those concerned about what things mean for the steam machine i'm to [14:57] understand that valve is getting closer to confirming everything they've been going back and forth [15:02] internally on pricing and whether they would be willing to take a loss on the cost at least [15:07] in the short term it's unclear what decision has been made but the internal belief is that an [15:12] announcement and a release is getting closer yeah things are going to get real wild real fast with [15:19] the steam controller costing 99 dollars i'm going to stick to my prediction on what the steam machine [15:24] will in fact cost i think it's going to run anywhere between 700 bucks to 800 bucks i think the middle [15:30] ground is going to be 750 for that whole device because i think to my recollection the steam controller comes [15:37] bundled with the actual steam machine as well so you could be seeing valve take a loss on the device [15:43] not charging 900 bucks for it but instead going to the 7 800 or 750 price point in the middle as well [15:50] i think if valve can price the machine around 700 to 800 or hit that 750 mark in the middle that's where [15:56] it's going to be in my opinion the very last line of what's going to be happening with the steam machine [16:01] and if you've got a device that is 750 that has valve's name behind it that has steam attached to [16:08] it not only with their customer service with the way things have been moving with steam os and the [16:13] entire amount of people that look at steam to be the actual de facto market leader in how customers are [16:19] in fact taken care of next to gog of course because god has pure drm free games this could be the big [16:25] reason why we're seeing so many other companies like playstation look at steam and say wait hold on you [16:31] guys are encroaching on our territory you're making hardware and os and something that a lot of [16:36] people are going to be really interested in that is near the same price of what we charge for our [16:40] games and our systems and that could be direct competition and why sony may be doing what the [16:46] rumors are saying and like i said before i think the steam controller 2 is a little bit too expensive [16:51] for just my blood but the thing is though i've seen a lot of counter arguments on what valve is trying [16:56] to do check this out kaz lucy on twitter says this the more i think about the 100 price tag this [17:03] controller costs far less than the elite slash pro xbox and dual sense controllers on the market and [17:10] kind of offers far more features only thing is this controller doesn't have replaceable parts [17:16] storm slayer hd remastered game dev on twitter also said this the og steam controller accomplished what it [17:22] needed to but had some flaws due to shortcuts it took to cut costs imo it released for 50 dollars [17:29] which was 10 bucks less than the dualshock 4 at the time with the feature set it has now i believe [17:34] it's more in line with a pro controller i'm hoping latency tests keep it competitive with the other [17:40] options out there a hundred dollars isn't too bad for this market rohan carr saying this if it's true [17:48] then 99 is a solid deal for a controller with hd rumble tmr sticks which are magnetic sticks track [17:55] pads grip based gyro if it was from sony or xbox then this would have cost 200 plus for sure and [18:02] jimmy champagne from deck ready said this 99 is the upper end of what i was guessing a little pricey but [18:10] something that will be extremely beneficial if you have a tv pc i'm in for two honestly i'm in between about [18:18] the entire thing from what's been going on with the steam controller i think 70 bucks would have [18:22] been the ideal price but when we look at things like tmr sticks so no stick drift basically ever [18:29] grip gyro so no having to trigger it at all you just hold the controller and gyro automatically [18:34] functions it coming with the puck so you don't have to worry about bluetooth connectivity and it's [18:39] always charged right then and there and then on top of that having all the back buttons and all the [18:43] major features that you get on major controllers like the edge and also microsoft's offering as [18:49] well this could be a play if you look at it from this perspective mind you of valve undercutting the [18:56] elite and edge controllers by a hundred dollars and giving you a more affordable case without having [19:01] to deal with all the other stuff from microsoft and playstation with that feature set and what they're [19:07] offering sure the hundred bucks seems a bit pricey but it does make sense financially the thing is [19:13] though for me like i said i would have preferred 70 and at 70 i would have bought two of them now [19:19] though i'm only going to buy one controller and i think that's where it's going to draw the line for [19:23] me watching everybody get excited about what valve is doing with their hardware with their operating [19:28] system with their services and everything else in between really goes to show that they are putting [19:33] the pressure onto the gaming industry in the best way possible providing true actual competition [19:39] competition so fierce that they're actually making playstation scared about putting their games onto [19:45] their storefront and even the entire pc platform but as always i want to hear what you guys got to say [19:51] about this in the comments section down below do you think playstation will pull their games away from [19:56] pc like the rumors been going around or do you think this is all a bunch of hot air and are you going [20:02] to be buying a steam controller maybe one maybe two or do you think the price is too high for what you [20:07] expected i want to hear what you got to say speaking about what you got to say here's a comment of the [20:13] day from friday's video with artemis saying this finding out what the consumer likes and selling it to [20:19] him what a revolutionary concept artemis my friend you have no idea how hard it is for so many companies [20:27] just to figure that out on their own it really is kind of shocking but with all that being said though [20:33] if you want to see more this kind of content though more pc port reviews gaming news steam deck videos [20:38] fanboy content and even live streams subscribe to the channel if you want discord access or [20:44] emotes during live
