Trump issues FINAL WARNING to Iran: 'Last chance'

[0:00] Meanwhile, to the Middle East, President Trump telling Iran this is their last chance to make a deal [0:04] before the United States carries out a far more punishing military operation. [0:09] Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yinks is live in Tel Aviv with the ladies. Good morning, Trey. [0:14] Yeah, hey guys, good morning. While the Trump administration explores a diplomatic solution [0:18] with Iran, the IRGC is continuing attacks in the Gulf. Overnight, a cargo ship off the coast of [0:25] Oman was hit with an unknown projectile according to maritime tracking groups. [0:29] The incident comes as the U.S. naval blockade remains in effect. [0:33] CENTCOM says that as of August 3rd, they have redirected 44 commercial vessels and disabled two others. [0:39] You are requested to alter course to 190. If you do not comply, we will comply with force. [0:48] This is Worship 45. We will monitor your course at this time. Worship 45, standing by on 160. [0:54] President Trump posted to True Social on Monday saying, in part, nothing gets through to Iran [1:01] unless we want it to, and nothing will get through unless a deal or total surrender is accomplished. [1:06] Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are, in fact, talking of a solution to a problem [1:10] that they have caused. The president described the state of play with Iran yesterday from the Oval Office. [1:17] Mr. President, are the talks with Iran now off and are airstrikes back on? [1:21] No, they're on. They're going on right now. It's an amazing thing. [1:24] We have a little problem with Iran because we have many talks that will say we have or we don't have. [1:30] You know, we're straight about it. But they deny it. But they're not denying it now. [1:33] Is this a last chance? This is not something that, if it doesn't happen, [1:38] this is a last chance for them to sign a good document. [1:45] Reports indicate Iran and Oman are nearing a deal regarding control of the Strait of Hormuz [1:50] and splitting service fees between them. It's not clear if the terms would be acceptable [1:54] to the Trump administration that has maintained zero fees should be charged [1:58] in this international waterway. There are uncertain days ahead in the region [2:03] as the Middle East waits to see if a deal will be reached or we'll see a return to war. [2:08] So, Trey, real quickly, the president talked about the military operation [2:13] that was leaked over the weekend. It's obviously, they need to figure out who's leaking from the White House. [2:20] That has to be somewhat high within government that put that out there to sources. [2:25] It's our job as the press to cover that. [2:27] But I'm curious from your perspective and your sources on the state of play, [2:33] that league played out in the Middle East, [2:36] and who then phoned the White House to get to the negotiating table? [2:42] It's a great question because these leaks can be substantial. [2:45] And when you're looking at a situation with 50,000 U.S. service members, [2:50] destroyers, refuelers, fighter jets across the region, [2:53] the operational security is very significant whenever there are plans being made to strike Iran. [2:59] And the president indicated he called off the planned strikes at the request not only of Iran, [3:04] but also of Gulf allies like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. [3:08] What was interesting, though, Lawrence, [3:10] we spoke with senior Israeli intelligence officials over the weekend [3:13] who said they weren't even aware of the details of the plan. [3:16] And that's how close the administration was holding these details to the chest [3:20] because of how sensitive it is in the region. [3:23] And so moving forward, we do anticipate the Trump administration will do everything possible [3:27] to ensure that they're not giving Iran a heads up. [3:30] They want to keep the Iranians guessing as these diplomatic pathways play out, [3:34] understanding that if the talks fail, we are likely looking at a return to combat operations. [3:39] So obviously, Trey, you know, we are seeing the White House trying to keep their cards close to the vest, [3:45] but there is also a tremendous buildup. [3:48] We've watched a tremendous buildup over the last couple of months. [3:52] You know, some of that is Trump trying to put pressure on Iran. [3:55] But when you compare the buildup that we've seen over the last couple of weeks [3:59] to the buildup that we had when all of this began six months ago, [4:05] can you compare the posture? [4:10] It's slightly larger. [4:12] And the president indicated the strikes that were planned are actually larger as well. [4:16] He described them as the largest since World War II. [4:19] But when we look at the equation right now, [4:21] this is not just an equation of military pressure. [4:24] This is an equation of economic deterrence. [4:27] And that's exactly what we have seen from the Trump administration over the past several weeks [4:31] with the resumption of the U.S. naval blockade. [4:33] This blockade of Iranian ports is costing the Iranian regime hundreds of millions of dollars each and every day. [4:39] And it's part of the reason that the Iranians are looking for an agreement, [4:43] because they understand that as the U.S. military maintains its presence in the region, [4:47] they have very few options in terms of an off-ramp here. [4:49] They are either looking at a return to combat operations or some sort of agreement, [4:53] a negotiated settlement that would alleviate that economic pressure [4:57] and avoid strikes against the regime.
