"We'll be right back. We'll be right back. Yeah, but the latest piece has been sold out. I have done a limited edition six inches classic board, which is bigger than my usual toys. Yeah, yeah. So this is like my first toy. And this is like the classic one. This is the one I've seen for years on..."

[00:00:00] Speaker ?: We'll be right back. [00:00:30] Speaker 1: We'll be right back. [00:01:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, but the latest piece has been sold out. I have done a limited edition six inches classic board, which is bigger than my usual toys. Yeah, yeah. So this is like my first toy. And this is like the classic one. [00:01:14] Speaker 3: This is the one I've seen for years on Instagram and everywhere. [00:01:17] Speaker 2: Well, all my toys are inspired by classic computers or digital device because I'm really into those 80s and 90s design. And I combine them with robots. And one thing unique about them is they are like transformable. They always have like magnetic arms so you can display them just as a robot or as a computer or MP3 player. And something I want to show you guys is like we are also doing plushy. So this is like a phone pouch. So you can put your phone there and just like wait. I love it. Yeah, it's kind of adorable. And then this is a plush toy where you can actually play with the face. The face is like the bits and pieces and velcro. So you can change the expression into like different emoticons. Yeah, I just want my toys to be like have a bit of playability. [00:02:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, you can still play around with it. They're all kind of modular. You can switch them around like socket poppers or something. [00:02:19] Speaker 2: So rather than just a static statue, I want something you can play with. You can put it on your desk when you are bored and work just to play with it. [00:02:27] Speaker 3: Just here with Cassius 0161. Tell me about the new drops. There's new things that dropped since we last spoke. [00:02:46] Speaker 4: We got bogeys. This is version 2 of bogey. The first one was green. That's why it's called bogey. So he's new. We had five of him. We've got three left. [00:02:55] Speaker 3: I always end up getting an interview with you at the end of the day when everything, when your stall is depleted. [00:02:59] Speaker 4: Just depleted, yeah. This is one I thought I might go off, but this is probably going to be hotter online, to be honest. But you still sold a fair few. Yeah, yeah. You sold one in front of me, so. Yeah, I had a second shelf there. The zombie. Tell me about the zombie then. [00:03:11] Speaker 3: The zombie, basically. Are these all a bit different as well? You drilled them all slightly different? [00:03:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, literally. They started with miscasts. So every time I do a miscast or something, there's a bubble in the wing or something, I don't like to pass. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just go in a bucket. I love it. I went back to the bucket and recasted them all and redone them all as zombies. [00:03:25] Speaker 3: And then it's a bit of an imperfection. You can just drill a bit out, scar it up a bit and then, yeah, utilize them. That's it. It's very eco-friendly as well. We're not wasting resin out yet. [00:03:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it. Don't waste it because I've got a load of dead bees in the bucket at home. [00:03:49] Speaker 3: Just here with Faycore. Tell me a little bit about the new stuff. Because you've got Frank Usman now made out of something different. When we saw him before, he was made out of resin, and now we've gone full monster in my pocket. [00:03:58] Speaker 5: So we've got full-on Keshi Frank Usman. It's nice and squishy, bendable, exactly like the monsters in my pocket. [00:04:05] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Let me feel it. It's no different from like an old monster in my pocket figure. Perfect Keshi material. What is this made out of now? Can you see it? [00:04:11] Speaker 5: Zencast PX90 resin, so it's like a flexible resin. [00:04:17] Speaker 3: It's a resin that I've seen people raving about a lot recently. Yeah, it's great. It's not a resin, is it? It's like a rubber. It's called a resin, but it just feels a lot more durable. It's perfect, very authentic for the kind of vibe that you want with the old minifigures. [00:04:30] Speaker 5: I had a Muscle Man, and I sat with all of the tint, and I just sat and had to fix the colour together. [00:04:35] Speaker 3: Oh, really? To get it that much of a looking on point like an old muscle figure. Just here with Hack On, you know, I've always got to get a couple of words from Hack On when we're at these toy events. How's the day been? [00:04:50] Speaker 6: It's been really busy, actually. I think busier than last year, definitely. Toy-wise, probably been the busiest event this year. [00:04:56] Speaker 3: Really? You've done a Toy Art collaboration t-shirt here today. [00:05:00] Speaker 6: The Toy Art t-shirt collab. [00:05:02] Speaker 3: An official collab as well, isn't it, with Toy Art? I like how Toy Art, they do lots of collaborations with the guys that keep coming and showing support to the events and stuff like that. If people want to get one of these, where we're getting it from, is it from Toy Art, is it from your Instagram? [00:05:12] Speaker 6: They're on the Hawcon website. [00:05:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, because you do so much with clothing. As much as you do the Toy Art thing, clothing is like... Clothing is my main thing, yeah. And you're at markets every single week selling your stuff and stuff like that. If you're up Scotland Way in Glasgow, all the skaters and stuff, they're all representing the Hack On brand, aren't they? Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:05:28] Speaker 6: And down in London as well, I'm in a skate shop down there now as well. And they're like on their second batch of stuff. Yeah, yeah. [00:05:35] Speaker 3: And what's next for you? I know you've always got something in the pipeline. Have you got anything that's in the works that we can look forward to at the next event? [00:05:40] Speaker 6: I've got some ideas for a new figure. It's going to be like a He-Man, retro He-Man trap jaw. Okay. But his gun arm's going to be something else. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:05:51] Speaker 3: Don't say, don't say. Just near me Castle Clay School. If you know anything about like the toy scene on Instagram and this kind of thing, whether it's like the vintage toys or the art toys, this is a guy that's just like smashing it in so many different avenues. And it's your first time at a convention, not just even at Toy Art. It is, yeah. How have you found it today? Great. Busy. Is it being busy for you? I've been very busy, yeah. Because when you drop something online, like it seems to fly out and you seem to always have like a big following. Everything you do seems to generate a lot of hype. So that's something that like you're guaranteed on Instagram that you've got that following, but when you come to a convention, you never really know how it's going to go. [00:06:39] Speaker 7: It's been, yeah, I'm like, it's just kind of a lot of people I've never met before where you kind of recognize some names. Yeah, because we've never met in person. I didn't even know what your face was like. Yeah. [00:06:47] Speaker 3: I just knew your name and your work. That's it. What stuff has been the most popular? Because you do so many different variations of ideas. [00:06:54] Speaker 7: Yeah, so it's a lot of mixed bag. The Stapop Marshmallow Man. Really? It seems to be like this current trend, people are saying, I've been looking for a Stapop and I'm collecting Stapop. [00:07:03] Speaker 3: It's so weird, you never know what's going to hit. And because the trends are always changing, like a couple of years ago, like Motu was a big thing. And like you were doing a lot of like Motu 5.5 stuff. And then it's moving on to Stapop, that's what we're saying. [00:07:14] Speaker 7: Moving on to Stapop, I think the Ghostbusters and the weird stuff is coming in. [00:07:17] Speaker 3: And you've been doing the Fiendish Feet, which you know I'm a big fan of. Fiendish Feet. Inspired by Fiendish Feet. So how they've been received. I know that's like something that a few years ago no one were really talking about. And then all of a sudden those yoghurt pots are like a big resurgence. They just do it, yeah. People's trying to sell them for that 100 quid of pot on eBay. 100 quid of pot? Yeah, yeah. I couldn't keep up, so I thought, make me own. Well for half that price you can get a Castle Clay School Clay School Cup. Yeah, hold it up, let's see it man. Tell me a little bit about your process as well, because you like cook this in a kiln, like old school, is that right? That's right. And you're the only person in like this whole scene that I know of that's actually doing like ceramic classic pottery stuff. Yeah. But in this like new, I said contemporary, but it's not contemporary because it's like 80s and 90s kind of inspired. Yeah, I suppose so, yeah. But using clay to create this stuff that we so normally see in resin and stuff. That's right, yeah. Where did that come from? [00:08:03] Speaker 7: So, I used to collect the 1970s Sylvac pickle pots, you know, like pickled onions and stuff like that. And I thought, I've got to make some like modern ones of those, like ugly faces, skeletal faces and stuff. But they're called fugly mugs and all those, do you know what those ones? They're called all sorts of fugly mugs, yeah. Price Kensington, there's those like antique ones. Yeah. Kitchy like shit really that nobody wanted to buy before. I think there's a, there's a beetroot one and it looks like the devil. That's my thing. Picked up that, but I'll make some more of these like that. So, we started with those and then just the pottery tutors one day told me, oh, you know, you can like cast smaller stuff. So, we had a look at that. Brought a He-Man in, like say the 5.5 Motu stuff, tried one of those and it worked a treat and it was like, we're off to the races basically. [00:08:47] Speaker 3: And have you got like your own studio where you do it? [00:08:49] Speaker 7: Got my own studio. With a kiln? Small studio with a kiln. [00:08:52] Speaker 3: Yeah. [00:08:53] Speaker 7: Kilns in like the back room. [00:08:54] Speaker 3: But that's like a home, like crazy set up in itself isn't it right? A kiln. It's not like just an oven. You could have just put this in your oven. It's like a specific kind of room isn't it? A kiln. Yeah. Got to put marble all around it or concrete so it doesn't burn the place down. Really? No way. 1200 degrees. Well, yeah, it's a pleasure to meet you in person and to see your stuff in person man. I wish you nothing but success like I said to everyone and I hope I see you at another convention in the future. Yeah, no doubt. Nice one bro. Nice to meet you and keep up the great work. Yeah, cheers. Nice one. Sweet. [00:09:36] Speaker 5: And then this is the big bike. This is like the dream. So this is I want to try and get this made as a Sofubi soft vinyl. This is Roger the Destroyer of Worlds and he lives inside a TV set. And it's all digitally sculpted in Nomad Sculpt, 3D printed. And then yeah, I'm just trying to put the feelers out and see if I can get it made as a soft vinyl. Is that UV resin that like if you put that out in the sun will that start to keep curing it? [00:10:04] Speaker 3: Yeah. So that's not something you can really like put on your windowsill or something. [00:10:07] Speaker 5: No, no. And it would be so expensive to print these and you know, quality control that. So yeah, I want to get it like mass produced and yeah, see where it goes really. [00:10:18] Speaker 3: I love it. It's got the logo on the back as well. Yeah, cheers. It's got the big logo there. Tell me a little bit about the inspiration for this one. When I see this, there's certain like movies and stuff that I could see reference to, but I don't want to drop them in case they're not right. [00:10:28] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a shot full of references. So it's basket case, Videodrome, the bug eye goes from Ghostbusters with the, instead of having the two eyes, he's got the one eye and it's just all of those things that I love. Television, that's what I saw in that one. Absolutely. And Videodrome was like the first thing I thought when I saw it. So yeah, all merged into one piece. [00:10:48] Speaker 3: This is your first time at ToyCon, isn't it? [00:10:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, this is my first time. I love it. I think the, well, it's my first time in Leeds. So it's a lovely city. And then I think the atmosphere of the show is very cool. It's more relaxed. And I think it's very toy focused. We're chill here. Yeah, very chill. And it's very toy focused. Yeah. But the toys are all different. I think, I think it's good. Yeah, yeah. [00:11:12] Speaker 3: Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, man. I love your work. Keep doing what you do. All right, nice to meet you, Guy. I found it today. [00:11:17] Speaker 4: It was busy when I turned up. Yeah, it's been good today. It always feels like home this place. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:11:23] Speaker 3: It's way more chill, I always say. Yeah, definitely. These toy art, it's like, it's a nice chill vibe. It's busy, but it's chill. It's not hectic. You can just go, just go with the flow of the day. It's a good one to see out of the year, innit? Yeah, no, exactly. It's a good one to see out of the year. In terms of this toy art UK event that we all come to, Cassie has just said it perfectly, it's like a great event to see out of the year. Yeah. Even though it's busy and people make good money here and stuff, it's like a nice chill event. What do you think separates this from the other events that we do? Because, I mean, you do so many. [00:11:48] Speaker 6: I think it's just closets in a small room, and then, I don't know, it seems chill because of the lighting, I think. [00:11:54] Speaker 3: Maybe that's it, yeah. [00:11:55] Speaker 6: I think it's the lighting. [00:11:56] Speaker 3: Well, as always, man, nothing but loving it. Strength to strength of everything you're doing. Yeah, to the next one. I can't wait to see you at the next one, whenever that may be. Sorry, Colin. Nice one. Much respect, bro. Take it easy. [00:12:26] Speaker ?: Take it easy.
