[00:00:00] Speaker 1: I've enjoyed them a long time. I think that thing is beautiful. Look at that. So, as you can see, there's my baby and my prize. [00:00:08] Speaker 2: All right, so we just got back from New York. That was a seven-hour flight. We got laid away in Little Rock, Arkansas for three hours. I'm going over the list of this huge turtle collection, probably the biggest collection we've had. The guy's been in the toy industry and movie industry for about 30 years. So I'm going over the list. He's got the highest pop of Scratch, Hotspot. He's got the Undercover Turtles. I think 185 or 195 figures. Sean, the turtle guy's here. [00:00:45] Speaker 1: My name's Rick Ferris, and this is Angel. Had to help with the video here. I'm a Ninja Turtle collector. I've been collecting since 87 when the first ones came out and have built on the collection over the years. I primarily was focused on AFA 85 Near Mint Plus versions. Most of my collection was graded. The ones that aren't are all unpunched, perfect blisters and perfect hearts. Decided to cull out the collection a little bit, so I'm moving on to some other areas of interest and decided to bring them into Dallas Vintage Choice today. Done business here many times. Yeah, we've got Undercover Mikey back there. Yeah, I've got him 85 Near Mint Plus on the bottom there, too. He's in that stack you're looking at. That thing is beautiful. [00:01:34] Speaker 3: Look at that. [00:01:35] Speaker 1: I got off the whole set. Actually, the creatures here, 85 plus, with the peak weapons and accessories. I know. It's like, you know, I think it's, I've enjoyed them a long time and some other stuff. [00:01:55] Speaker 3: Technodrome's still in box. That is awesome. [00:02:00] Speaker 1: Oh, that one, actually, that one is, has been opened. It was put together and put back, but I don't know if that came from a Playmates employee or not, because it's a, it was displayed, because I took it back down and put it in there. 100% complete, even the little black chains that usually go missing. All four of those are in there. The stickers are all on there, but it's really interesting. It looks just like the box. I don't know how they did it. If they use this for photography or not, but every sticker is perfectly placed. Just even the, the ooze stickers on the bottom that, uh, they're normally just everywhere. Yeah, that's it. You know, because kids stick them everywhere. I've been working in the toy industry for about 30 years. And, uh, as a, you know, working it out, I'm also a collector. And, uh, Ninja Turtles have been my favorite out of all the action figure lines, basically. So, uh, as you can see, there's my baby and my prize. This was Near Mint Plus, which is hard to get a completely, uh, 85 Near Mint Plus in this one. So, um, yeah, actually this particular piece, I will tell you, I'm showing my age here. I bought this at a Target store when they just opened up the box. The employee had just cut the tape and I reached in and pulled this out of a brand new case at a Target. That's amazing. And that was in here in Dallas, actually here in Dallas as well. So, 93. Oh, shh. That is the one, even though I've, I've had turtles come and go, that one I've always kept. Here's your, here's another, here's another, here's another, here's another, here's another 85. That was the other companion that was a real rare one to keep with it. So there you go, but yeah, I, I've worked with a lot of different action figure companies. I've, from Hong Kong, I've been in Hong Kong for about 24 years. I just came back to the U.S. two years ago and, um, basically work directly with the factories and things for different companies and, um, have a huge collection. So I've had a couple of storage rims I've maintained in the U.S. while still living there. And it's just that time in my life where I've got to cull the collection a little bit. So, uh, so here we are. [00:04:15] Speaker 4: How'd you hear about thousands of choice? [00:04:17] Speaker 1: Uh, you know, being in the industry like I am, uh, you know, I'm always looking for places to buy product or, you know, whatever. So this is one of the, uh, best basically. So, uh, I even bought, actually, I have a, uh, undercover RAF in here somewhere that I bought from Dallas Finish Toys about eight years ago or longer. I remember those prices. And you shipped it to Hong Kong. Yeah. See, as I always say, you can shop here and then make money. Right. And it was, I hate to tell you, I think I paid $800 at the time. Oh, I know. And you shipped it to me in Hong Kong. And, uh, now it's a few thousand. Yeah, it's two to three thousand now. So it's, uh, this is another rare piece. That's complete. That's an 85 for a loose crank. [00:05:05] Speaker 3: Okay. [00:05:07] Speaker 1: That's, uh, that came right. This one's kind of weird. This is the only one I've come across like this. You see, it's highest rating you can get. When they ship, you have to be careful with that. I keep him upright because the crying inside, if you ship it or whatever, he'll go upside down. And it took me forever to basically get him back in position because they shipped it to me when I was in Hong Kong. And so I hand-carried that usually. So, uh, that might be a piece you want to sell in the store. In the store, yeah. Yeah. So it's, uh, that's cool. Now, all of these are unopened. The tech, no, the tech room is open. I was telling you about this one and the party wagon and all the other stuff is unopened. If you want to get like a foot cruiser, so if you notice on the list, I have got numerous rifle A's in there. I saw that. There's about eight different variants. And there was, yeah, there's eight different variants. And I bought, all eight are in here. And I found a few that are kind of interesting. And I remember it from back in the house. There's been a few that had red, a V and a red shirt as well. And there's not many listed. And it's debatable. Some people think it's just a color change that's been locked in. But you'll see it later. It's a definite red, two reds on that. But yeah, I've got plenty of those in there. Also, I've got this. Just to show you, I think you realize. I've got all four with the correct color accessories to the bandanas. And, you know, with this one, you know, there's the paint on and off the chest and leg. Sure. This is one without the paint. And I've got the one with the paint with the correct color as well. So they are all kind of mixed in. That one's definitely gradable. That's a good one. I just didn't have time to get some of these graded. [00:06:59] Speaker 4: So what was your favorite piece for your top five? [00:07:04] Speaker 1: I think Scratch just because of the sentimental value with that and being so rare. And for many years, you know, it was really hard to even find anyone that had one carded anywhere. In the last few years, they just started springing up. When that one was graded, I looked at the computer system and there was only three available. Do you know Ben Caron? He used to be a big collector in the industry. He had one. I had one. And I forgot. I think the other one was a Playmates employee. So since then. Probably out in California. Yeah. And I think since then, there are other 85, but I don't know how many 85 near mint plus there are. Sure. There may still, that might still be one of three heads that are out of this. [00:07:44] Speaker 4: Is there any creases on any of these cards or? No. [00:07:48] Speaker 1: Like I said, I've spent years. [00:07:50] Speaker 4: Any bubble dents or anything? Any what now? Any bubble dents or dings or? [00:07:54] Speaker 1: You'll check into them. Most of them, no. There's a fugitoid. The fugitoid I do have has a crease blister. I mean, a crushed blister. I just noticed that. But everything else, you can see, I've only collected what I could consider like really gradable 80 to 85. Okay. So there may be one or two that are like, I think the Mutant Military, there may be a crease on a card. But you can see most of them are all like this. They're all unpunched. Like I said, the only punch is that Nostripe April that's graded. That's the only one. Okay, this is one that was messed up. This one has a crushed blister. Okay. Unfortunately, I was in Hong Kong. They shipped it to me off of eBay and they got crushed in the mail. But that's the only one that's got everything else is perfect. [00:08:43] Speaker 4: Okay. [00:08:52] Speaker 1: There's another good one. It's with the pink accessories on it. [00:08:58] Speaker 4: It's a hard one to get one, too. Does that have any flaking on the chrome or? [00:09:06] Speaker 1: Well, I don't. What is that? I just noticed what that is. No, there's no flaking on the color. But what is that? It looks like a piece of paper or something I never sell there before. What is that? It looks like a piece of plastic. But it's not from the figure, is it? I just saw it. Nope. Because the figure accessories are perfect. Wow. There's a really good one. And that's definitely gradable. That should come in at 80 or 85 as well. There you go. And this one as well. This one should be 80 or 85. And it's got the purple. You know, the blue accessories are more common. The purple is the one that's a little bit more difficult. And he's come back home. Another bun. There he is. [00:10:11] Speaker 3: Hey, guy. Sort of like a big toil. A trench coat. [00:10:17] Speaker 1: I was about to get that one graded, too. That should grade really high. That's a pretty... Let me take it and see that one. Perfect condition for 88, 87. I think Raphael. That's probably... [00:10:39] Speaker 4: When you played the video game, he had the shortest reach. Yeah. It seems very stressful. That's the one you used for the underwater scene to, you know, kill him first. [00:10:47] Speaker 1: Yeah. I just like his attitude. I guess he's got bad attitude, I guess. He's got bad attitude, so, you know. Oof. This is all three of it. Are they doing it? Yeah, I've got all three of it. Shogun Shredder with a coin. [00:11:19] Speaker ?: This is definitely... [00:11:22] Speaker 1: This is definitely... That's the first one, fan club flyer with a rubber head. And it's definitely... I think that would get definitely an 85 if you look at that. That one's in really good shape. [00:11:38] Speaker 2: Sean, when you look at the bottom plastic, what are you looking for? Usually, there's that little space right there, and then that's usually where they have most of the dings or damage on most of the carted turtles. [00:12:01] Speaker 1: Let's be stuck with a hat off. There's one hat on, and this one's the hat off. It's hard these days to get a card just because, you know, everyone's bottom-up already, and that's it. [00:12:19] Speaker 2: So then we're going through the tubs, and then he has a whole set of Toxic Crusaders, and you just toss those in. This one, this came from a playmate's employee. [00:12:50] Speaker 1: Yeah. Actually, I got these. All these came from Chris Fawcett, these Toxic Crusaders. This blister came off when he shipped it to me. Yeah, we had a graded one where the... It's kind of, you know, everything's here except Toxie. I did not get to replace him, and, you know, it looks so much like the turtle line, and I just like the artistic value of it, and I love the Toxic Crusader movie, you know, the original movie, and so, yeah, I had to kind of get into that. My friend worked on special... Jerry Macaluso, he did some of the... He actually created the look of the Toxic. I think he actually did the whole makeup for that as well, and here's the other... That's the other winged warrior. [00:13:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like this guy because he looked like a stretch arm strong. [00:13:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, it does, doesn't it? Yeah, it does. That one's in better shape than it is. Mostly about the toys, I liked the very first Turtles movie, you know, back in the 80s, or 90s, in the late 90s, I guess. The ones ever that I didn't care for too much. That one's a little bit... I had to get that out of France. I could not find any... It's hard to get any carded winged warriors right now, so... [00:13:58] Speaker 3: Sean sees collections like this all the time. Me, I'm still a little new to the game. I don't get to see cool, rare Turtle collections like this all the time, so I'm excited. I'm getting to see things that I saw as a kid. I'm getting to see things that I never saw as a kid, that I never thought I'd get to hold in my hands. Rare figures. Super awesome stuff, guys. I'm telling you, this is one of the best Turtle collections I've ever seen. Come on, Paul. [00:14:24] Speaker 1: That one, the blister's yellowing a little bit. The funny thing about it, this is the run that Scratch and Hotspot were in. And some of the blisters, if you notice, like on Sandstorm, particularly if you look up, it's hard to find a Mona Lisa without yellow blister now. And what it is, it's the material they used at the factory. It's a cheaper material that will yellow faster than some of the others. So that's what's funny about that particular series. You can find Scratch, you'll hardly ever find one yellow unless someone left it in the sunlight or something. See, like this one, it's a little bit better shape, but it will start to yellow over time a little bit. These are very rare right now. And these actually got out of Europe as well. I was going to show you. These are almost perfect. There is one blister. It's a little messed up. This one, I think. Yeah, that one is. But otherwise, it's perfect. But I do want to point that out to you. But those are a good one. That's a hard. This is the pop-up display version of the Shredder, which is a little bit rarer to find. Again, it's a perfect card on that. [00:15:46] Speaker 2: What is it? The display in the back, the cardboard display that you put behind. Kind of like the Star Wars 3-pack. They have like a little cardboard bill that stood behind them. [00:15:56] Speaker 1: Same thing on this. This is the Rat King. It's got the pop-up display on the back. That makes it a little bit rarer. You don't come across these as often either. So, there you go. And these are getting harder to find for some, I think, people, Army building, the original foot soldiers. Again, that's a really good card. I got, this is one I bought off of eBay. You see, it's a perfect card and everything. He glued the edges of the Zolo case. But you can see it's just pop open. It's loose in there. I just left it when I got it. Sure. This is a real good one. This is a fan club flyer, rubber head. And again, I think it would grade 80, 85 at least. That's a good one. This one's rare. This is, there's two versions. This is the one with a white tooth. And this one's extremely hard to find. You usually see the ones with, without painted there. So, this one, it's actually got a little bit more flake. And that one does have a ding on the blister. I will show. But the flaking on that one is not as bad as you, some of them are almost silver now. And that one's not quite as bad, but it's, I think it's definitely collectible. It's still got enough. Yeah, I don't know what they did with it when they painted those. They just definitely, I think almost every one I've seen is almost silver now. It's just all starting, you know, just over time. That's one of the few that has, still has a price sticker. I didn't bother to take that. Most of these notes don't even have price stickers. I got, yeah, let's see. Okay, you saw my notes on this, the turtles. This is a full set, came from a Playmates employee. And I believe they're all the same number. And it's really low, I think it's number six. I need a magnifying glass, I don't have them. I have contacts in, but I still don't. Can you read that? Whatever that number, I think it's six. It's triple O six. Uh-huh. Is that what it is? Whatever, they all, they all match, so they're, they're, there's, so I would definitely sell that as a complete set. That's the Chef Boyardee, that's unopened also. That's, that's really gone up a lot the last couple of years. This one, the Euro. Oh, yeah, I almost wanted to keep him, but only two canisters are missing. That's, but believe it or not, I've had to put this together by buying individual stuff to get it put together. And even though this one's loose, you'll see, it's, usually you find these with the hands beat up, with the paint off of it. This one, you'll see, it's in almost perfect condition on the hands. So that one's really, really good one. Yeah, that one's, that's, that's another one of my favorites out of all the collection. This is definitely grade worthy. That would probably get 85 also. It's a really good condition one. And that one, you don't see it very often. That's a tough one with the coin. Mm-hmm. Thank you so much. That one's, there you go. I forgot what country this one is from. It's got, you know, the Bandai. I think so, yeah. Hero, yeah. You asked me my favorite, Universal, that's probably my least favorite. [00:19:52] Speaker 4: But the female characters are supposed to be rarer than that. [00:19:55] Speaker 1: I know, that one just didn't do it for me. I don't know. I'd say they're all getting harder to find, though. This is another really good one, too. This is, you know, and again, hard to find in this condition. I've got both of them. The other one's in here somewhere. I believe I had to get that one from someone in France. I believe that came from France. That one's a little bit right. I had to get that out of France. I could not find any. It's hard to get any carded winged warriors right now, so. Okay, let's see. That's it. We got through it. All right. Great guys here, great service, and very happy to leave it with these guys because it's a very personal collection, very important to me, and I feel good about placing it here at this new home. [00:21:03] Speaker 2: All right, the deal is done. We got one of the best carded turtle collections we've had in a long time. These are some of the choice pieces that we are going to send off to get graded. I left right after I came in for this collection because I'm a little under the weather, and I already had people hitting me up on my personal Facebook and Instagram. So, people are interested in some of the higher top tier reports. A lot of international people are hitting us up on the sumo turtles, and then we also have all these items. So, these are going to go on the website. We are backlogged on a lot of stuff because we are always buying stuff worldwide. This is kind of like, you know, toy history. I mean, I grew up with this stuff. Rowdy's a turtle guy, so, you know, he's grinning ear to ear. So, and I'm glad we got in the Chef Boyardee shredder. I just wish we had the little can of a Chef Boyardee ravioli. Lots of variations, so it's going to be really cool going through and documenting everything, going over the list. And we also got the Toxic Crusaders. He just kind of threw those in as a bonus. There's so many different gray fillets. I pretty much got every variation there. So, these are already sold because I have a client down south, and he already was, you know, giving me advice. Like, hey, you know, don't grade that, grade this. But most of this stuff is going to be sold as is. And, yeah, lots of cool stuff. There's a Sandstorm right there. Archive Gold 85. So, if there's anything you see in the video, just let us know. We are going to be adding these to the website. I can only go so fast because we got collections coming in several hours of the day. We're always buying. But if you see anything that you want that's not on the website, just give us a call during business hours at 214-827-7060. Or check us out online at DallasVintedStories.com.
