[00:00:00] Speaker 1: This is a complete collection of Mattel Masters of the Universe from 1982 to 1987. Everything from play sets to figures to beasts to vehicles. [00:00:12] Speaker 2: Toy collecting can go far beyond just the figures, especially for those chasing complete sets. One collector can't stop at a single complete figure pushing to complete entire sets in full detail. [00:00:30] Speaker 1: I've always collected something. I started collecting stamps back in the day. I amassed a collection of Lego and things like that. After a while you have to choose and I just stuck to toys. Toys was my number one option I could show to people. I'm a completionist by heart which kind of means that I like to look for a toy that's complete. So it's got all the weapons and things like that. And then once I get one, the hunger is to get the others. To fill out the line to completion. I will go to the nth degree to find that one little lid for the bucket that he came with. I never stop looking. This is my very colourful toy room and these are my Dino Riders. Followed by Gremlins and Toxic Crusaders. We've got my Battle Beast and Beast Formers here. Batman and friends. My movie Ninja Turtles. Alien and Predator. The Pistos Resistance. The Vintage Masters of the Universe collection. Vintage Ninja Turtles. Transformers and Voltron down the bottom there. Coming over to Modern Masters of the Universe. The Classics collection. This is my escape place from the, dare I say, family and things if they're having a bad day. After work, I always come in here. I'll sit in here for hours just idolising my toys and things, listening to music. And I'm often in here by myself just soaking all the nostalgia in. Transformers was a big part of my childhood. When my brother was born, I got Soundwave. 1986. So I always associate his birth with Soundwave. Soundwave itself transformed into a little cassette box. Like a little boom box type thing. And it came with little cassettes. Much smaller than a regular cassette. And he used to be able to press an eject button on his shoulder. And the cassette tape door would pop out. You'd take the cassette out. And then that cassette could transform into a little bird. Or a little jaguar. Just amazing. It reminds me of my childhood fun, you know, Saturday morning cartoons. And even after school, coming home and just watching cartoons and binge watching, you know, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, He-Man, all those sort of fantastic things. One of my more interesting toys is part of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line. And that is, of course, Tyranno Shredder. It was in the dying years of the toy line. And as a last ditch effort, they decided to release the Ninja Turtles as dinosaurs. And of course, they didn't just release the four Ninja Turtles. They released one bad guy. That being the pinnacle, the best Shredder. And Shredder, of course, is a T-Rex. And he actually has a helmet on. He's got the shin guards and things like that. And he's just fantastic. He's really hard to find, really rare. And mainly because the last year of the run, very small production runs. Masters Universe released a whole slew of toys, vehicles, playsets. And the biggest and the best was Eternia. Eternia was three towers with a working monorail to go around. And it is the holy grail of all toy line, right? I had to import mine from America. And I did it in pieces because that's how I could afford it. To buy this thing is an astronomical amount of money. So me bit parting it out cost me more in the long run. But I was able to afford it that way over a number of years. But it's the lines that I've 100% completed that will truly impress you. We've got a 100% complete set of Sectors by Coleco minus the Hive playset. We have some fantastic characters here. We have Prince Dagon, the heroic character on the dragon flyer. We have General Spidrax on his spider flyer. And my favourite, Skulk and Tarantula down the back there. There's a fantastic toy line that was deemed way too scary in the late 80s. Much more expensive as well. And these probably combination was the demise of the toy line. But the coolest thing is you can put your hand into these larger puppets. And you can manipulate the legs and things while on your hand. So you're running around the house with a toy insect. With a character sitting on top of it riding it. If I find something that's 100% complete. And my version of it in here is 80% complete. Well I'm going to sell the one that's only 80% complete. So I can upgrade to the absolute complete version. Toxic Crusaders was a spin-off line from the Toxic Avenger movie. A very R-rated film from a Troma video. And Playmates got the toy line which was amazing. The same guys that did Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And they went turbo with it. And they got nine figures released with a slew of vehicles and things. And then they never got to Series 2 unfortunately. Just like the Ninja Turtles they come with more weapons than they can hold almost. They come with a lot of glow and dark features. We've got my Dino Riders from Tyco 1987. These are the Rulons, the villains. And this is 100% complete. We've got the piece de resistance. The T-Rex which is custom painted to match the cartoon. And the box art. I had this real vision just to collect the bad guys. Because in my opinion the bad guys look better. And the hardest things to find not just the dinosaurs. But all the little characters to go with them. We've got down here the Quitsaquatsis. The yellow bird-like dinosaur. And that is by far the most expensive and rare figure of the line. These little characters here are all the same molds and stuff. Just repaints of each other. To find all the repaints is that that's really hard to do. This is a collection many people have not heard of. But this is one of the biggest collections of Battle Beasts in Australia. And this is my really passionate line that I collect. Battle Beasts was a Hasbro line brought in from Japan by Takara. And in Japan it was called Beast Formers. These little anthropomorphic characters are about two and a half inches tall. About four centimeters tall or so. You've got 76 little beasts. And then they release what they call laser beasts or shadow warriors. And they've got a little orb in their chest that you can look through. And it'll reveal wood, water or fire. And it'd be the rock, paper, scissors scenario. So wood would float on water. Water would douse out fire. Fire would burn wood. And so forth and so forth. [00:07:57] Speaker ?: And so forth. [00:07:57] Speaker 1: I've got a lot of the Japanese Beast Formers in single packs here. And I just can't get enough of this toy line. I absolutely love it. This is my most proud of collection I have in this toy room. This is a complete collection of Mattel Masters of the Universe from 1982 to 1987. Everything from play sets to figures to beasts to vehicles. You've got over 60 figures. You've got probably 30 odd vehicles. Five or so play sets including the big Eternia play set which is Holy Grail. Castle Greyskull is just a definitive toy on anyone's radar. Many versions of He-Man. Many versions of Skeletor. The line just crosses everybody's genres. It's easy to get sucked in and aim to get the whole collections. I will keep collecting until the day I stop breathing. I love it that much.
