‘The Five’: Pratt RIPS failed Dem policies on debate stage...

[0:00] Welcome back. The battle to be L.A.'s mayor ramped up a whole lot last night. It was the first [0:04] televised debate ahead of a primary that has taken place next month. Former reality TV star [0:09] Spencer Pratt, you may have heard of him. He wasted no time hammering current mayor Karen Bass [0:14] and Democratic Socialist Councilwoman Nithya Raman as he called out their handling of everything [0:19] from the L.A. wildfires to the city's rampant homelessness and drug crisis. Also did a little [0:24] bit of news calling. The statistics says 93% of this is a drug addiction problem. Nithya [0:30] Councilwoman Robin's plan for treatment first. I will go below the Harbor Freeway tomorrow with her [0:35] and we can find some of these people she's going to offer treatment for. She's going to get stabbed [0:40] in the neck. These people do not want a bed. They want fentanyl or super meth. My job is to be as [0:47] crazy as this will sound. I'm the adult in the room here at Spencer Pratt and that's what it's come to. [0:54] This is a MAGA Republicans idea of what Los Angeles looks like. This is this is really not. [1:00] She doesn't care about safety. She doesn't care about anything she's talking about. [1:04] At least Mayor Bass pretends to care. Both of these people have been the reason why [1:09] there's no more Hollywood. Well his whole vibe obviously if you watch that debate [1:15] from the way he talked to the way he acted is he's very Trumpian and so I'm sure he's going to do [1:21] very well with you know conservatives in his city but Jesse there's not really enough of them to elect him [1:28] realistically. Let's keep hope alive. Wow your donkey stripes are showing me really. Yeah that was [1:38] quite a setup. Well I'm just being realistic. He's not Trumpian. He's not Trumpian. Everybody knows what Spencer Pratt is going through. [1:57] You just watched your city burn to the ground and you have a foreign born socialist and a Karen [2:03] telling you everything's fine. And then you say you're a liar and some other woman comes over and [2:09] says stop the name calling. This is what we're dealing with. Okay. This is what this country is [2:15] dealing with. We have had it. We've had it with the politicians. So you get this charismatic common [2:21] sense populist with the reality TV background and he comes in and he just shoots from the hip [2:27] and you can kind of see his blood boiling because he's face to face with these politicians [2:32] who burned his house down and destroyed his city. And so and the one woman Karen Bass is like you [2:38] know what we did a great job with the fire. Are you kidding me? It's like Biden said the border is secure. [2:45] And then you have this ramen rhymes with noodle whatever her name is. She's like yeah we should [2:50] put homeless encampments next to daycare. I mean I'm surprised you didn't get up and say what Trump [2:56] did. You people are all crazy. I don't even think these two women even go out in the city. What do [3:03] they do? Go to city hall and then back to their homes. They have no idea there's a homeless problem. [3:09] They have no idea the cost of living is crazy. 34 homes have been built in the Palisades. [3:15] Since the fire. It's absolute insanity. And if you think either of these two women especially Bass [3:22] is going to run this town when they have the Olympics hand Bass a torch for the Olympic [3:28] ceremony. Watch her burn the rest of the place down. But so are were you team Spidey or team LC? [3:36] Is this a Hills joke? It is. It's a Hills reference. Everybody's got to answer. I don't know. [3:41] Are they both blonde? Jillian. It was an iconic show. I know you didn't watch it. Feels like the view. [3:48] You missed out. Harold you know aside from the wildfires which is the rallying cry now for a lot [3:55] of politicians in California. He's basically his platform essentially boils down to he's like anti-crime [4:03] pro-cop and getting drugs and crime off the streets. It's like kind of hard to disagree with [4:10] that. You can't. You really can't. I mean the California dream isn't what it used to be. [4:14] And I think if if the young man was very performative he obviously has a great background [4:18] in acting. I didn't know. I don't know the shows. And I thought his substance was about right. [4:25] He reminded me of a former politician out of Minnesota named Jesse the body Ventura who came [4:29] along as an independent and upended the political system. Even out there in California in LA you had [4:33] Dick Reardon the former mayor who came from the outside a very wealthy business guy but came from [4:38] the outside to try to shake things up. This guy would have a I think a better shot if if he wasn't [4:44] so performative and actually said here's what I'm going to do. To Jesse's point some of the things [4:48] were being said at least some of the things were quoted in our in our packet. I just said you guys are [4:52] wrong. We've tried that way. Here's what I want to do. And I don't want to be giving advice to this [4:55] fellow. But people want representation. People want reform. People want crime dealt with. People [5:01] want their neighborhoods to be safe not only from crime but from fires. And if you can make that case [5:06] in L.A. I differ with you slightly, Jillian. I think anyone could win if you're able if you make a [5:12] compelling enough case about whether you're the incumbent or not about what you're going to do [5:16] to improve people's lives. There's still basics in politics and that's one of them. Jesse just gave me [5:22] a look. That was like C. I did. Welcome to the pie. I did give you a look.
