‘The Five’: Dems losing ground as midterms near…

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: So the midterms might not be the layup Democrats thought they'd be. Recently, the party's been sliding on the generic ballot polls as Republicans rapidly catch up. So it turns out voters may be looking for something more than just anti-Trump politics. [00:00:12] Speaker 2: I practice medicine on the side without benefit of diploma. I'm just not really down the road yet to be a mental health specialist. But I think there's some reason to review his mental state. [00:00:27] Speaker 3: The single best thing that anyone can do to help Americans, to help working families, is get rid of Donald Trump. [00:00:33] Speaker 4: We have a dip, demented, obese in the White House who is rat in the country. [00:00:42] Speaker 1: Wow, the wine mom got in on it early. Okay, Jessica, let me go to you first because I know you probably take a look at the generic ballot. But when we got the topics today, I was a little confused because this morning in the Washington Post, Harry Olson said, actually, or Henry Olson, said the Republicans all of a sudden find the Senate to be a little bit precarious. So how do you weigh all of this? [00:01:03] Speaker 4: Play like you're behind, no matter what. I mean, the generic ballot, like Nate Silver's silver bulletin, has it about six and a half point lead. For Republicans? For Democrats. For Democrats. For Democrats. For Democrats. [00:01:14] Speaker ?: For Democrats. [00:01:14] Speaker 4: Which should be good for the House and the Senate will be tough. I think it's smart that the Republicans on the Senate side are talking about how difficult the map is. Even if you just think about how much cash is going to have to be spent to defend these seats. With a Ken Paxton in Texas, Iowa, Josh Turk is a very strong candidate. And Susan Collins, who is definitely an overperformer, it's going to cost money, right, to be able to hold that. I think there's definitely good news in there for Democrats on the Senate side. John Ossoff got a weaker opponent. So that is now rated lean D. And our Fox had a poll in Ohio, which was incredible for Sherrod Brown, up 53-45 on John Husted. I think, you know, you look at what people are going to be voting on, and they're going to be voting on cost of living issues. And right now, Trump has a 31% approval on the economy, 23% on gas prices. Over 70% say he's not interested or focused on lowering their cost of living. So hopefully that translates, but we have yet to see the positive agenda from the Democrats that I think, if it were a presidential year, you certainly would have to have at this point. [00:02:22] Speaker 1: Kennedy, do you think any of these far-left candidates like Plattner and Tallarico are bringing the Democrats down a little bit because there's so much attention on them? [00:02:30] Speaker 5: Yes, I do. And they are there because there's been such a dearth of ideas from mainstream Democrats because they have leaned so hard into the anti-Trump message. And I'm like, please, for the love of God, can some of the rational Democrats return to the conversation and come up with a digestible list of ideas? So, you know, people who are independent, people who are, you know, sick of their economic state can at least point to something and go, maybe these guys will help us. But they're not. And then we're left with communists. They're not democratic socialists. They literally want to take over the means of production and run cities into the ground. And now they want to take the Senate and follow Bernie Sanders' lead. It's incredibly dangerous, but it's also incredibly lazy. And all they've had to fall back on is, you know, the Seth Moulton's of the world are almost president. He really, you know, lit the world on fire when he was running in 2020. But he's, you know, he's saying things like, we just need to get rid of Trump. Well, what does that mean? He's termed out. He's not going to run in 2020. And people keep trying to kill him. Maybe that's an irresponsible line of thinking. And maybe if Seth Moulton went to a little laboratory of democracy between his ears and came up with a good digestible idea, he would make more sense. But unfortunately, he has become totally irrelevant in a conversation that is now being populated by commies. [00:03:57] Speaker 1: And, Greg, they don't even, it does seem that there is, they're stuck on one message that Trump is evil, Trump is Hitler, the democracy is about to go by the wayside. And there's nothing new. So maybe people get tired of hearing that. They start not to believe it. [00:04:11] Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know. But I know that when they're in trouble, they're going to amp up the apocalypse. You know, it's like, vote for us or democracy dies. Again, they're the sleazy guy at the bar who says, why not come home with me? The world could end tomorrow. Except they say it with certainty. If you don't vote for Plattner, women will be bleeding to death in the streets. [00:04:33] Speaker 4: Now I'm like a roofie rapist at a bar? No, no. [00:04:37] Speaker 6: No, yes. No, I didn't make that analogy, but you're close. You were the one who said, if you don't vote for Plattner, millions of women will die on the street. That's what you said a couple of days ago. It was a callback. [00:04:48] Speaker 4: I'm the sleazy guy at the bar. [00:04:51] Speaker 6: Oh, my God. Analogies are analogies by not being real, Jessica. This mental fitness thing, the only way for the Pelosi's of the world to talk about Trump's mental fitness is to convince the people that they're talking to that they are mentally damaged themselves. They've got to make you crazy to believe that Trump is crazy. They have gaslit their constituents to a point that they have forgotten. They have forgotten that these are the people that lied to you for four years about Joe Biden and that actually Trump is the one who's mentally unfit. This is why when you look at the data, so many liberals are mentally unwell. Jessica, you are mentally healthy, but I worry about you sometimes. I really worry about you because the only way, again, that you can accept terrible policies is to claim the other option is the end of the world. And if you keep thinking that the end of the world is coming unless you vote for a Nazi, your head is going to be just a calamity of suffering. [00:05:55] Speaker 1: And the actual fundamentals of the economy, if you look at the statistics, it's like, why are people in a bad mood, right? Unemployment is at a rate that is relatively low for the country that gas prices are starting to come down and that looks like the trajectory is holding. We just have this huge IPO, the stock market's up. And yet people on the left in particular tell pollsters that they're in a terrible mood and they hate the country. [00:06:18] Speaker 3: Well, that's why the Democrats are mad we won the war because now prices are going to come down and they can't run on affordability. And what are they going to say about affordability anyway? Remember how great things were when we had power last year? You guys spent so much money that like gas was $5 a gallon. Inflation was 9%. You guys let so many illegals into this country. Rent went up 30%. Crime was at an all-time high. Democrats aren't even proud of being Democrats. You ask a Democrat, you're like, no, I'm an independent. I'm not really a Democrat. I'm a Democrat socialist. Right. It's like, they're like, no. And like in high school, you call someone a Democrat, it's like a slur. Teachers are like, hey, watch it. You can't say that. I don't know. You guys aren't proud of Biden. You're not proud of Kamala. Who's your guy? Schumer? Is it Hakeem Jeffries? These are the horses you guys are going to ride into battle? Jessica, you guys are ridiculous. You keep on saying this guy's demented. You guys are getting smoked by dementia. He's taken all your pieces off the board. USAID, SPLC, the illegals, the trans, the DEI. Name something. He just knocked it away. All you do is complain, affordability? You just talk about the ballroom or some other made-up fake news thing that's on MSNOW. It's not even like a real campaign. You're like, stuff's expensive. Oh, really? You didn't care last year. [00:07:48] Speaker 4: Also, taking USAID off the board, that's like a big feather in your cap? Did you know that that killed 13 million children?
