[2:29] Good morning. Welcome to RSBN Live. I'm Matthew Alvarez. It's one minute after the top of the [2:34] hour here, 9 a.m. Eastern Time. I definitely made sure I have my mic on. Here we are. It's [2:40] a little bit earlier than usual here on the network, but it's great to have you here with us. [2:45] And what a beautiful day that is in Washington, D.C. Some blue skies there, some light breeze, [2:51] as you see. And that flag remains at half staff due to the passing of the late, great Dali Parton. [2:58] So we have a lot to get to today. There's a lot on the schedule. So I'm going to go through some of [3:03] that here at 10 o'clock this morning. We'll take you to Capitol Hill as the House GOP holds a [3:09] conference meeting. As we see representatives step up to the microphone, including Chairwoman Lisa [3:15] McClain of Michigan, we'll take you there live at 1030. We'll then cover the House Oversight and [3:23] Government Reform Meeting, all about protecting American citizenship by confronting birth [3:28] tourism. Quite the event they're live to listen into. We'll have that. A bit later today at 130 [3:36] Eastern, the president meets with oil and gas retailers and refineries from the Cabinet Room [3:41] at the White House. Currently, that event is closed to the press. We'll also be live today at [3:47] 5 o'clock Eastern for Treasury Secretary Scott Besson's G20 Financial Press Conference from [3:55] Asheville, North Carolina. So just a lot today on this Tuesday, September 1st, right out of the gate [4:01] into September. And speaking of Asheville, let's go to this new video from the Treasury Secretary. [4:07] Let's go to clip number one. [4:15] At G20 in Asheville, we're going to talk about the U.S. growth strategy and encourage the rest of the [4:21] world to come along with us. [4:22] We have the highest growth we've ever had. Think of the highest growth we've ever had. [4:27] We want to bring the G20 back to its core mission. And that core mission is talking about what can [4:33] countries do, economies do, how can we band together to have better global growth. [4:43] And keeping our focus on the G20 financial meetings in Asheville, North Carolina, according to a press [4:49] release from that event, there was some private sector engagement discussed at length. And from [4:56] that press release, quote, one innovation under America's G20 is that we are bringing private [5:02] sector executives into the room to talk directly with the senior most economic and financial sector [5:08] policymakers in the world. The Trump administration understands that the private sector doesn't just [5:14] participate in growth, it creates it. Now, this press release continues by saying for the first time, [5:21] the G20 is bringing business leaders and policymakers together to identify practical barriers to [5:27] investment, innovation, and productivity, and to share reforms that help enterprises thrive. [5:34] Here in the United States, we are home to the deepest, most dynamic, and most liquid markets in the world. [5:40] Our financial sector is charged with facilitating the flow and functioning of these markets and [5:45] connecting the American people with the capital and services they need to thrive. This press release [5:52] again from the G20, since the great financial crisis, half of community and small banks have [5:57] disappeared under the weight of over-regulation. Yet in 2023, all of that supervision did little to [6:04] spare our country from suffering three of the largest bank failures in history. Dodd-Frank was supposed to [6:12] end too big to fail. Instead, it created too small to succeed. Now, Secretary Besson emphasized yesterday [6:19] that to expand opportunity for all Americans, the banks that serve Main Street must have the same [6:26] chance to succeed as those that serve Wall Street. President Trump is determined to see that they do. [6:33] Recent measures like the finalized community bank leverage ratio, for example, have the potential to [6:39] unleash tens of billions for reinvestment into small businesses and loans for families across the [6:45] country. The G20 mentioning in this press release, we also spoke with senior executives whose companies [6:52] are at the cutting edge of using AI and advanced manufacturing and healthcare, and others who are [6:59] creating the future of money with digital assets innovation. The world's most transformative technologies [7:05] are being built in America. America's leadership in AI and digital innovation will ensure the [7:11] these technologies are developed with transparency, security, and trust. And finally, throughout the [7:18] private sector engagements in the G20 this year, private sector representatives have identified several [7:24] conditions that support economic growth, including competitive tax environments, business-friendly [7:31] regulation, lower operating costs, and a skilled workforce. They have also emphasized the importance of [7:40] soliciting input from the private sector as policymakers shape decisions, not after businesses absorb the [7:47] effects of policies. And thanks to the G20's leadership, G20 is advancing regulatory reforms and [7:57] streamlining to reduce unnecessary burdens, protect market integrity, and give businesses the confidence to [8:04] invest and innovate. So that, a G20 press release, just kind of a readout from how things have gone over [8:11] the past 24 hours. And this, as we have a lot on the schedule today, if you're just joining us, of course, [8:19] we'll go over that in just a little bit. Before we do, let's go to a few of our great sponsors here on [8:24] Right Side Broadcasting Network, including All Family Pharmacy. You know, this is a great American [8:29] independent pharmacy. And every time I check out All Family Pharmacy's website, I find something else I didn't [8:36] realize they carried. And actually, this was the other day, I was on X, and I saw one of the ads for All Family [8:41] Pharmacy, I clicked on it, and I scrolled through. And it's true, if you've been watching RSPN, you already know about [8:47] All Family Pharmacy. But have you actually looked at everything they offer? They have antibiotics, maintenance [8:53] medications, ivermectin, emergency medications, GLP-1s, peptides, biohacking products, and the list [9:01] goes on. And they've also added new ivermectin tablets in 4, 12, and 36 milligram strength. They also [9:09] have NAD Plus that comes in different forms, including injections or trochees and nasal spray, for those of [9:15] you who aren't fans of needles. I don't know anybody that's a fan of a needle, but hopefully, anyway. So they [9:23] really have options for the whole family, and September is really a good time to clean out [9:28] that medicine cabinet. Check expiration dates, get rid of what's been collecting dust, and make sure [9:34] you actually have what you may need on hand. Don't wait until you need something to realize you're out. [9:40] You can order online, and after a physician review and approval, get your prescriptions shipped right [9:44] to your door. Check them out at allfamilypharmacy.com slash rsbn and save 10% with code rsbn10, [9:50] or call 561-717-6794 before we move on to our next sponsor. I remember, back in the day, you know, [9:59] you'd go for doctor checkups and all that kind of thing, and you get your blood drawn and all that. [10:04] Well, let's just say I like to just lay down and then get it done. There was one time that I kind of [10:12] passed out. Anyway, let's move on from All Family Pharmacy, great sponsor there, to Birch Gold Group. [10:17] We're still a couple months out, but the midterms are fast approaching, and make no mistake, if the [10:22] house flips, it's really a big deal for our economy, and that uncertainty is one of the reasons [10:27] to diversify with gold from Birch Gold Group. You know, in the three months leading up to the [10:32] 2024 presidential election, the spot price of gold jumped over 12%, all because it's a hedge against [10:39] uncertainty. And if you don't own gold, I'd suggest talking with Birch Gold. They'll discuss your goals [10:44] and explain how precious metals can fit into your savings. They can even help you convert [10:48] an existing IRA or 401k into an IRA in gold with no additional money out of pocket. All [10:54] you do is text Trump to that number, 989898. You get a free info kit and some solid information. [10:59] Of course, the midterms will be here before you know it, so just text Trump to 989898. [11:04] Two great sponsors here on Right Side Broadcasting Network. If you're watching out there on the West [11:09] Coast, man, it's nice and early for you. We actually have a guest joining us at about [11:14] 6.45 Pacific time, but wow. All right, so looking forward to that. We have a couple guests joining [11:21] us, one from Texas and one from the West Coast. I'm not sure if she's in California, but we'll see. [11:27] Now, President Trump, of course, made history once again when a sitting president made a call to space [11:33] from mission control in Houston to the International Space Station. Let's check out clip number two. [11:38] Are you ready for the event? Houston, this is station. We are ready for the event. [11:48] Well, this is a great honor. To be with you is a great honor, and I just want to thank Jessica and [11:55] Neil Jack. It's an honor. This was a big day. We want to welcome you on board the International [12:01] Space Station. We and all of our colleagues are very thrilled to have you up here today. We're all [12:07] doing very well. We've been in the middle of several spacewalks, and we're getting ready for [12:10] another one next week. America's leadership in the space program is incredible. We're excited about it. [12:16] We're excited about going to the future, and our big team down at NASA is ready to execute and get [12:22] Americans back on the surface of the moon. Thank you very much, and we'll all see you when you get [12:27] back. God bless you all. Thank you very much. Quite the event the other day, and of course, [12:36] we'll be talking a lot about some of the White House accomplishments and also just some of the news [12:41] coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, including what we mentioned yesterday about the big deal that [12:47] happened in Venezuela with 65 billion barrels of oil into the United States, and the president and [12:55] the White House press release the information sharing that that will affect gas prices in a [13:01] positive way in the sense of going down. Always good to see that. Let's take a quick commercial break. [13:07] We'll be right back here on RSBN. It's Silk from Diamond and Silk Chit Chat Live. Look, don't forget [13:32] to watch my show right here at Right Side Broadcasting Network, and I want you to support Right Side [13:39] Broadcasting Network. It's imperative that you do so, okay? Welcome back to Right Side Broadcasting [15:43] Network. You know, it's great. One thing that's really great about going live, even prior to events, [15:49] is whatever's happening live right away. You can either go to it or at least talk about it. [15:54] Just specifically, on Truth Social, President Trump 12 minutes ago said, quote, [15:58] great bipartisan response and support in Congress for the Motion Picture, Television, [16:04] and Entertainment Revitalization Act. We will bring this once great industry back to America. [16:11] Thank you for your attention to this matter, President Donald J. Trump. That was 12 minutes [16:14] ago on Truth Social. And speaking of live events, the G20 continuing in North Carolina. We may be [16:20] going to go to that as we are standing by for this GOP presser of sorts. They have this GOP [16:26] conference meeting. And expected at about 10 a.m. will be Chairwoman Lisa McLean of Michigan to step [16:35] out and address the media. So we'll be going to that. And then a little bit later, you'll be going [16:41] to this oversight hearing, which we'll talk about in just a second. And again, later today, [16:46] President Trump at 1.30 meeting with oil and gas executives. That is currently closed to the press. [16:53] If it opens, I'm sure we'll either upload it or be live, one or the other. And then later today at [16:58] 5 o'clock Eastern, we'll be live again because there's a Treasury Secretary Scott Besant press [17:04] conference from G20. So looking forward to all of the news today. What a way to start September, [17:10] right? Right out of the gate. All right, let's go to Kalshi as one of our great sponsors. And if you [17:15] trade at $25, you get $25. It's just a nice promo right there for Kalshi and a great deal. And all [17:24] you've got to do is check it out. So you can get there by going to the QR code you see on your screen [17:28] or download the app or go to Kalshi.com slash RSBN. So many political trending topics on there right [17:35] now. It'll make your head spin. All you've got to do is scroll, scroll, scroll. You'll see a bunch of [17:39] them, including the question about who will replace the great Carolyn Levitt at that podium [17:45] at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. We'll be monitoring it just as many are across the country that are [17:51] interested in news and politics in our country and all of that. So I'm thinking Stephen Miller, [17:57] to be honest. I haven't said that yet, but I'll say that now. I think Stephen Miller will be the [18:02] next press secretary, but there's a ton of great people that I'm sure can fill that role there. [18:07] So we'll see what happens. Let's go from Kalshi to Cove Pier. You know, most of us know there's [18:11] chlorine in our tap water. Sometimes you can smell it and then you shrug and you drink it anyway, [18:17] because you were told, hey, it's all good. It's safe because it keeps our water safe. There's [18:22] chlorine. It's all good. But what they don't tell you is what chlorine becomes after it's added to [18:28] your water. That's why it's so important to filter your water through Cove Pier, because chlorine itself [18:33] isn't even the biggest problem. Chlorine levels in your water are regulated, but what's not [18:37] regulated are chemicals that form when chlorine reacts with naturally occurring organic matter [18:43] from places like rivers, soil and plant matter. So we're told when chlorine interacts with those [18:48] particles, it creates chemical byproducts called THMs. The government itself calls THMs probable human [18:55] carcinogens. They've been linked to disruption of your gut. They've also been linked to awful things [19:00] like cancer. So those pitcher filters you get at the store won't fix this. They improve the taste of [19:06] chlorine, but THMs require something far more powerful. And that's exactly what Cove Pier is. [19:12] Their ClearWave reverse osmosis technology is certified to remove up to 99.9% of contaminants. [19:18] So it's not just chlorine or THMs. Fluoride, PFAs, pharmaceuticals. Really, if it isn't water, [19:24] Cove Pier removes it. And this thing doesn't take up much room at all. You can just see it on screen [19:29] there. You just put it on the kitchen counter. You just plug it in. Don't need someone, you know, [19:33] to install it or anything like that. And as you see there with the top of the button, you'll get [19:37] hot, cold, or warm water instantly. And the feedback on Cove Pier from our viewers has been [19:42] incredible. And people have told us they can literally taste the difference. Clean water really [19:47] is one of the best investments you can make for you and your family's health. And right now they're [19:51] giving RSPN viewers $250 off. If you use that link, covepure.com slash RSPN, covepure.com slash RSPN. [20:01] All right. It is 9-19 Eastern time. Beautiful day. Again, there in Washington, D.C. You know, [20:08] when we talk about what we just talked about there, you know, Cove Pier talked about how those THMs can be [20:14] linked to disruption of your gut or linked to cancer, you know, you know, makes me think of [20:20] anybody that might be dealing with a medical situation. Just, we're praying for you. Hang [20:28] in there and don't give up. We don't just, you know, brush over saying things like that and not [20:35] think about actual, you know, situations that people may be suffering from. So, yeah, praying in [20:42] Jesus name for you and hope the best and hopefully it all works out and that's what else can we do, [20:48] right? And just be there for each other. All right. 9-19 Tuesday, September 1st. You see a [20:54] beautiful picture there again of the White House and the Washington Monument there. I love when it's [20:58] a gorgeous blue sky day, especially in September. Can you believe it? It's September. I just still [21:03] can't. I don't know. It's my birthday month. Looking forward to turning 45. All right. Anyway, [21:09] let's go talk about the White House actually, because there are a number of news headlines [21:14] from that building. And we've seen a lot go on, including the United States agreement with [21:19] Venezuela. More than doubles American oil reserves, greatly increases our oil supply, [21:25] and will substantially lower gas prices for all Americans. Now, when I say that, this is not my [21:33] opinion. This is not from some fake news source. This is directly from that building, the communications [21:41] team, the White House. Let me read it again. The United States agreement with Venezuela more than [21:47] doubles American oil reserves, greatly increases our oil supply, and will substantially lower gas [21:55] prices for all Americans long into the future. Now, the president was asked about this yesterday. He [22:01] said, is this going to be happening before the midterms? Is this happening tomorrow? Too hard to tell at this [22:07] point, but looking forward to seeing that, you know, in life, right? There's a cause and effect, [22:13] you know, what goes up goes down, that kind of thing. So the cause here is that extra oil from [22:20] Venezuela. The effect, when we go and pump gas into our truck, SUV, van, car, whatever, hopefully that [22:30] won't be as painful as it is right now. And President Trump admitted and said it, he says, yeah, [22:34] it's higher because of the war in Iran. However, of course, the president also saying Iran cannot [22:43] have a nuclear weapon. So, you know, it's one of those things. So anyway, let's continue on. Now, [22:50] through a partnership with private business, the U.S. has secured majority control of that 65 [22:56] billion, not million, billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela at no cost to the American [23:03] taxpayer. We've known that Venezuela has some oil, but holy smokes, did you know they have 65 [23:09] billion barrels? Woo! No president has supported America's farmers and ranchers more than President [23:18] Trump. And now he is ensuring farmers and ranchers can process their own food, as we are switching [23:23] gears, as you can tell. Yesterday, the USDA announced the Ranchers First Initiative, a sweeping package of [23:31] actions to continue rebuilding the great American beef herd and put America's ranchers back at the [23:37] center of our nation's food supply. This is really building on USDA's October 2025 plan to fortify [23:45] the American beef industry. Well, we're seeing the Trump administration delivering again with that. [23:53] Now, the Trump administration has been working around the clock to help rebuild the American beef [23:57] industry. And for the first time since 2018, the number of cattle in the United States is growing [24:03] and ranchers are retaining heifers at higher rates. Switching gears now to overseas in response to the [24:11] devastating floods in Nepal, the State Department has activated emergency assistance to find missing [24:18] Americans and the embassies in that region, including Beijing, are working 24-7 to help affected [24:27] Americans as well. The United States is providing more than 3.6 million worth of life-saving humanitarian [24:35] assistance, including up to three months of emergency food assistance to up to 10,000 flood-affected [24:42] households in Nepal. Now, you might have heard about this story as well. Here in the States, [24:50] National Park staff, in coordination with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, are continuing [24:55] the evacuation and response efforts and working to account for individuals who may have been affected [25:02] by that Grand Canyon flooding. Just imagine that. You're enjoying God's creation there in the Grand [25:10] Canyon, and this flood comes out of nowhere. Well, it looks as if a number of people have passed away [25:17] from that event. It's kind of strange, almost eerie to think that in Nepal, there was a massive situation [25:24] like that, and then a smaller one in America. I'm not saying anything's connected or anything weird. [25:28] I'm just, it's interesting. It's not something that you see every day. And this, as the United States [25:34] naval blockade and sanctions have crippled Iran's economy and left them completely broke, Operation [25:40] Economic Outcast is severing every remaining economic lifeline sustaining the regime. President Trump's [25:47] number one goal, and always will be, that Iran could not have a nuclear weapon. And the White House [25:52] saying Iran should stop its attacks and agree to a deal with the United States. The United States will [25:59] respond to an Iranian missile attack on U.S. forces and, quote, hit them hard. The Strait of Hamuz's [26:06] international shipping lanes are open thanks to the United States, including the transit of nearly [26:11] 1,500 vessels and 750 million barrels of crude oil. Iran has not exported any oil through waterways [26:19] since the U.S. naval blockade was reinstated. Also, all of this information, again, directly from [26:28] press releases and information that we're seeing from that building right there. [26:35] Any entity that provides any lifeline to Iran will face tremendous economic consequences. [26:41] And then finally, the United States removed and or detonated all mines from the international waters of [26:47] the Strait. No ships have hit mines in the Strait. Any ship or boat placing new mines will be [26:52] immediately and systematically destroyed. So a lot of news there, specifically out of Iran. We're going to [27:00] shift over to Canada here in a second. Now, what we're doing, if you're just joining us, we've gone [27:05] over the latest from the G20, the financial meetings that are happening in North Carolina. [27:10] We may be able to dip into some more of that coverage in just a little bit. Also, going over [27:16] just some of the accomplishments or the latest news headlines from the White House. And also, if we have [27:21] time, we'll dive into some of the inside baseball, some of the preview of the huge RNC GOP [27:28] Midterm National Convention in Dallas, Texas. We have some live interviews coming up, actually, in just a few [27:34] minutes. And one of them is from Texas. Christian Collins, of course, the founder of the Texas Youth Summit [27:40] will be joining us here in just a minute. Let's go to All Family Pharmacy in the meantime. You know, every time I [27:44] check out All Family Pharmacy's website, I find something else I didn't realize they carried. If you've been [27:49] watching RSBN, you already know about All Family Pharmacy, but have you actually looked at everything they offer? They offer [27:56] antibiotics, maintenance medications, ivermectin, emergency medications, GLP-1s, peptides, biohacking [28:02] products, and the list goes on. They've also added new ivermectin tablets in 4, 12, and 36 milligram strength. [28:10] They also have NAD+, which comes in different forms, including injections, trochies, and a nasal spray for [28:16] those of you who are not fans of needles. They really have options for the whole family, and September is [28:22] really a good time to clean out that medicine cabinet, check expiration dates, get rid of what's been [28:27] collecting dust, and make sure you actually have what you may need on hand. Don't wait until you need [28:32] something to realize you're out. You can really order just online, and after physician review and [28:36] approval, get your prescription shipped right to your door. So just check them out, allfamilypharmacy.com [28:41] slash RSBN. You can use that RSBN 10 promo code to get that 10% off, and you can give them a call if you [28:47] like at 561-717-6794, as you see that number on the bottom of your screen as well. Let's go to [28:56] mypillow.com slash RSBN. A ton of great products, as you guys know there, from the pillows to the [29:02] Giza Dream Sheets, the mattress toppers, towels. What else is there? There's the dog beds, there's my [29:10] coffee, there's the list goes on, right? Mypillow.com slash RSBN. It's a really a triple, I think a [29:17] trifecta of wins. You're buying from a great product there, a great company, MyPillow. You're [29:24] indirectly assisting with us here when you use that RSBN promo code, and you're pouring into the [29:30] conservative industry. You know, this is not, you know, MyPillow is not going to be selling anything [29:34] woke, you know what I mean? Anyway, mypillow.com slash RSBN. All right, so some great sponsors here on [29:41] Right Side Broadcasting Network. Let's get back to a couple more of the headlines we're following out [29:45] of the White House. Finally, despite offering the best treatment of any major exporter to the U.S. [29:52] market, Canada declined to finalize a near final trade deal and escalated its prolonged retaliation [29:59] against the United States. So President Trump took a decisive action to hold Canada accountable for [30:04] its retaliation and discrimination, delivering on his promise to correct trade imbalances and ensure [30:11] fairness for American workers, farmers, and businesses. So that sums up some of the information [30:18] there. If you're just joining us now, if you want to hear some of the latest headlines from the White [30:22] House, also from the G20 in North Carolina, and in a little bit, we'll dive into some more about the [30:29] RNC. We'll preview that. You can always kind of re-watch if you want to hear what we're talking [30:35] about. But also, of course, there's a lot coming up today. If you're just joining us, let's go over some [30:40] of those specifics before we go to our live interview of the day. We have a couple of them [30:44] coming up. So at 10 o'clock, we'll take you to Capitol Hill as the House GOP holds a conference [30:51] meeting. As we see representatives step up to the microphone, including Chairwoman Lisa McLean of [30:56] Michigan, we'll take you there at the top of the hour. At the bottom of next hour, we'll then cover [31:02] live the House Oversight and Government Reform Meeting, all about protecting American citizenship, [31:09] citizenship, by confronting birth tourism. And then later today, at 1.30 Eastern, the President [31:17] meets with oil and gas retailers and refineries from the Cabinet Room at the White House. That [31:23] event currently closed to the press. We'll also be live at 5 o'clock Eastern later today for Treasury [31:29] Secretary Scott Besson's G20 Financial Press Conference from North Carolina. So that is what [31:37] we're looking at here as it is now the bottom of the hour on September 1st. That building looking [31:43] beautiful. I'll tell you, whenever it's blue skies and just you see the sunrise like that, [31:47] even though it's, you know, arose probably about an hour and a half ago or two, just a beautiful [31:53] picture. All right, Director, should we go to the G20 for a little bit? We can dip into that as we await [31:59] our next live interview or is our next live interview ready to go? All right, so this is what we'll do. [32:07] Let's dive into some more on the RNC as we get ready to rock and roll a little bit more here on [32:12] the network. What we know is, in just a little bit, we'll have Christian Collins, the founder of [32:17] the Texas Youth Summit, will join us here to talk about the Senate race in Texas. Ken Paxton for U.S. [32:23] Senate over that Tallarico fella. Also, we'll dive into some information about mass migration. [32:31] And also, TPUSA has this Pick Up the Mic initiative, and Christian Collins will be [32:38] participating in that. We'll ask him about that as well. And the Texas Youth Summit is next month. [32:45] And then at 9.45 Eastern, conservative journalist Francis Floresca will join us live as we get ready [32:51] to see more at the top of the hour at 10 o'clock. All right, so as we await anything live when it comes [32:58] to live interviews or going to the G20 just to check it out, let's look at some of the top news [33:04] headlines or actually some of the information from the RNC, specifically when it comes to the huge [33:12] national convention that's going to be happening on September 9th and 10th. According to the Republican [33:18] National Committee, over the course of two nights this fall, Republicans from all over our great nation [33:25] will convene in Dallas, Texas. And we're going to talk about that in a second because I'm hearing that [33:30] we have Elon Musk right now at G20. Let's go there to North Carolina. [33:38] I think AI will probably increase the global economy by 20 to 30 percent. That's my rough estimate, [33:51] meaning on the order of 20 to 30 trillion dollars per year. And AI will be able to do anything digital, [33:58] anything that does not require shaping of atoms by hand, probably by the end of next year. [34:04] So as I'm sure people know, AI is already incredibly good at software. And it's getting to the point [34:16] where AI won't just be good at software, it'll be what I call Stockfish level good. So Stockfish is a [34:22] chess program that can beat the world's best chess players very easily. In fact, at this point, [34:29] you could run Stockfish on your phone and beat Magnus Carlsen at chess. So at some point next year, [34:37] software is my prediction. Software will be so good, AI software will be so good that it will be [34:42] Stockfish level good, meaning that it is impossible for a human to compete in writing software with AI. [34:49] But like AI will just crush all humans as software. And I think it will be extremely good, possibly [34:56] Stockfish level, but certainly extremely good at all forms of engineering and anything digital, [35:03] digital, literally in 12, 12 to 18 months, one of the stats. So sorry, let me just want one more [35:12] things that my apologies. The so 20, 30% increase of total global economy. So this is quite a lot of [35:20] prosperity we're talking about here. Just just from digital AI, but from robotics, from from humanoid, [35:30] basically think of like a general purpose robot, robot AI, I think we'll see many multiples of the [35:36] global economy, meaning like you can increase the economy by a factor of 10 or more. These are [35:44] mind boggling numbers. Yeah, I was just about to say that. I mean, one of the stats we gave to the [35:48] group here was that in the four years since sort of ChatGPT was launched, I think we there's, you know, [35:53] over a billion people around the world already using AI. There's been very quick uptake around around the [35:57] country on around the world on that. I guess the question to you is, I think a lot of people are [36:03] being in this sort of applied or sort of physical AI, where do you see sort of robotics trending? How [36:09] quickly is it going to be implemented? I think I remember in the first Trump administration, we were [36:13] talking about sort of automated factories, and now we're a year later, 10 years later. So how, how, you [36:19] know, how quickly do you think these these changes are happening in the sort of physical AI world? [36:25] Yeah, so anything physical always takes longer than anything which is digital, digital, you know, [36:29] it's, it's, when you solve something digitally, it's the software that you can easily copy across [36:34] other other computers. When it's physical, you've got to build up an entire massive supply chain, you've [36:39] got to, you've got to move a lot of, a lot of atoms. And supply chains are very much global at this [36:45] point. So that's why it takes longer. Nonetheless, when you think of humanoid robotics, the way the way [36:53] you think about AI, I think the right framework is consider that the usefulness of a humanoid robot, a [36:59] general purpose robot is going to be roughly the digital, the AI software, how good is the AI [37:08] software times how good is the AI chip in the robot times how good is the electromechanical dexterity, [37:14] especially of the hands. Now, all three of those things are improving exponentially. And the usefulness [37:21] of the robot is those, those three things multiplied by each other. Then when you make the robots, the [37:25] robots will, the robots will start manufacturing the robots. So you get a recursive effect. So it starts off very, [37:36] very slowly, but then grows at an explosive rate. So if you say like 10 years from now, I would say there are well over a [37:46] billion humanoid robots. Wow. And the productivity per robot will be probably five times that of a human, [37:58] meaning, meaning that the productivity in 10 years of humanoid robots, and I think this is a conservative [38:04] estimate, by the way. This is one I wouldn't be willing to put serious money betting on, that there [38:12] will be at least a billion robots in 10 years, and that those robots will be at least five times the output [38:18] of a human, meaning that the billion humanoid robots will be more productive than all humans combined. [38:27] Wow. Shifting gears just a little bit to questions kind of facing the US today. Data centers have been [38:36] a big political issue over the last six to eight months here in the United States. And I think there's [38:43] a general understanding that in order to drive and power the AI revolution that's coming, we need to have [38:50] the electricity and the data center compute capacity to do the training and the inference of all this AI. [38:59] You know, how do you think about this particular issue? Where are we on the curve of kind of how much we built [39:05] versus how much we need? And as government leaders here think about how to prepare their economies and build the right [39:11] power and data infrastructure, how should they be thinking about where sort of compute and power needs are going to be in the [39:16] in the next few years? [39:18] Well, there actually is a quite a crisis of power. So the this is a in fact, this is something if you [39:29] if you just if you just sort of follow the AI topic on the X platform, which by the way, is where almost all [39:37] of the AI discourse takes place. You I think you get a very good sense for where things are headed. [39:44] So that's how that's how I get my news. And it's it's incredibly good. Everyone who's anyone in AI posts on X. [39:51] So so so that's why I'd recommend like just just just just go on the AI topic on X and you will you'll understand all [39:59] these these things and get a day day by day account of things. The the and what the consensus is at this point [40:08] is that the there will be a significant power shortfall next year. So not like distant future, [40:14] there's expected to be I believe I believe the the consensus estimate among analysts that follows the [40:21] space very closely is that there will be at least a a 15 gigawatt shortfall of power in 2027 for AI chips. [40:30] So this is perhaps an obvious thing that one would expect to occur because the rate at which AI chips [40:40] is being produced is is has been rising incredibly rapidly. They're sort of rising on the order of 45 40 [40:47] to 50 percent a year. But the but the power available outside of China has been rising at like 10 to 20 [40:53] percent a year. So obviously the the faster rising thing will will eventually overwhelm the slower rising [41:00] thing. And so in fact, even I'd say at this point, there are challenges with power even before next [41:08] year, which is why Google and Anthropic and many other companies are actually leasing compute from [41:14] SpaceX because we've been able to turn on AI better than anyone else so far. But this is by constructing [41:23] our own power plants is the only way we were able to do it. So now China does have a tremendous amount [41:30] of electricity. But but but due to GPU export bands, one cannot, you know, establish data centers with the [41:39] latest chips in China. So so but so really the consideration is what what sort of electricity [41:46] growth is there outside of China? And that is currently a significant shortfall relative to AI [41:53] chip production. So there is this creates an opportunity, I think, for countries around the world just to to save [42:00] to sort of if they're interested in AI data centers to to to construct a lot of power [42:08] and and offer that to AI companies. And in exchange, of course, these data centers would be would be taxed [42:17] and have to pay, you know, reasonable fees and stuff. But it does create an opportunity for for a lot of [42:24] countries. Absolutely. Well, thank you so much for your time. It meant a lot that you could join us here and [42:29] really appreciate it. Thank you so much. Well, there you go. Right at the end of that moment when [42:34] Elon was done talking at the G20. Let's go to a couple of our sponsors. We have a couple of live [42:39] interviews coming up and a lot of news to get to today for 20 years. Preborn has stood in the gap [42:45] between fear and hope. And this year alone, God has used preborn to save nearly 60,000 babies from [42:53] abortion. Since Roe versus Wade was overturned, of course, Roe v Wade was overturned. The abortion [43:00] industry hasn't slowed down. It really has adapted. But women now face this decision faster, more [43:06] privately and more alone than ever. But every day inside a preborn network clinic, a woman sees her [43:13] baby on an ultrasound and hears a heartbeat for the first time. And then everything changes. The chance [43:19] for new life skyrockets. And this year, that moment has led to thousands of commitments to Jesus [43:26] Christ. Proof that preborn isn't just saving babies, it's also saving souls. 20 years in, preborn still [43:34] believes we were made for this moment. Will you help them meet the next woman before it's too late? Right [43:42] now, another mother needs that moment and you can give that to her. Just $28, as you see there, helps [43:49] provide one life saving ultrasound. 140 helps rescue five babies. All gifts are tax deductible. Please give [43:59] today. All you do is dial pound nine pound 250 and say baby. That's pound 250 baby or visit preborn.com [44:11] slash rsbn. That's preborn.com slash rsbn. You can also go to the QR code. A great new sponsor here on [44:19] Right Side Broadcasting Network doing some awesome things for saving lives, saving souls. We couldn't [44:26] be more happy to have another great sponsor here with us, including the next one. You know, as [44:32] President Trump speaks about the future of this country and various rallies and various times at [44:37] the Oval Office, some Democratic Socialists are winning primaries and gaining political influence [44:43] heading into the 2026 midterms. Parents, you can really prepare your kids by ordering a free copy [44:49] of the Kids Guide to Fighting Socialism from the same company that gave you the Kids Guide to [44:54] President Trump. This important guide explains the differences between capitalism and socialism and [44:59] socialism's big brother, communism, and a way kids can actually understand. So you can order your [45:04] free copy right now at kidsfightingsocialism.com. Again, that's kidsfightingsocialism.com. You can go [45:10] order now before they run out as it's 944 Eastern time. Joining us now on this Texas Tuesday is [45:20] Christian Collins, the founder of the Texas Youth Summit. Christian, thank you again for joining us [45:25] on Right Side. Thank you so much for having me on and thank you for everything that you do across our [45:30] state and nation. I really appreciate all your great work. Thank you so much and right back at you [45:35] with the Texas Youth Summit and so many great things that we've seen over the years at that summit. [45:39] Before we talk more about it, let's talk about that big U.S. Senate race there. Common sense, [45:45] says Ken Paxton. Probably crazy, says this other Tala Rico, or as President Trump called him, [45:51] Tala Freco. But your thoughts about Ken Paxton? Well, Ken Paxton has been the greatest attorney [45:57] general in the nation, as our great president has said, and he's done a great job. He's a little [46:02] controversial because he's done such a great job and members of his own party wanted to impeach him. [46:08] They tried to primary him. There's a center right in this state that just doesn't like someone who's [46:14] as conservative as Ken Paxton. They've tried to indict him. They've tried to do everything that [46:19] they can to stop him. And he's won the primary time after time. And this last go around, he won [46:25] the primary. The problem is he's a little bruised and battered after the primary. He spent all of his [46:30] money working to beat John Cornyn. He was going to win no matter what, regardless of, I think, [46:36] who President Trump endorsed. But President Trump recognized that the people, the primary voters [46:42] really wanted Ken Paxton. And Trump also realized that John Cornyn was never loyal to President [46:51] Trump. And Ken Paxton actually was. And on that basis, he realized, okay, this is the right thing [46:57] to do. I'm going to endorse him. The problem is now that Senate leadership has races in Maine and Alaska [47:03] and a lot of other places where they're trying to spend money. And I don't think that John Thune and [47:08] a lot of the leaders would probably prefer Ken Paxton to be the nominee. I think they'd obviously [47:14] want John Cornyn. That's who they spent money on in the primary. That said, there's limited funds now. [47:21] I think they do want their Senate majority and they have to allocate that to other places. And so, [47:26] you know, Ken Paxton's in the tough position of trying to raise money. He's got about two million [47:30] cash on hand and Tallarica's got 23 million. And so he's flooding the airwaves with money that he's [47:37] gotten from California and a lot of other places to get the word out on his campaign. He's making [47:44] himself look like a moderate when in fact, he's a far left radical. He is against meat. He's run an [47:51] anti-meat campaign. He's trying to say that he's not against meat now. And you might've seen the picture [47:55] eating barbecue, but it's really not true at all. He thinks God's non-binary. He believes in six [48:01] genders. He wants a welcome mat at our Southern border. This guy's far left. He's nuts, but he's [48:07] running like a moderate and he's appealing to voters. There are 24% of non-MAGA voters. Those [48:13] are John Cornyn voters that are Republican that are maybe not going to vote for Tallarica, but they're [48:19] just going to sit out. And in effect, that is doing the same. It's basically voting for Tallarica. [48:25] By a non-vote, you're voting for Tallarica. And so what you have at this top of the ticket is [48:32] he's neck and neck with Tallarica and some of our other candidates like Governor Abbott and Dan [48:40] Patrick, they've coalesced everyone behind them and they're winning. But Ken Paxton doesn't have all [48:47] the Republican voters. And so what we've got to be able to do is we've got to be able to tell people [48:51] how terrible Tallarica is so that they recognize he cannot be the nominee. You may not love Ken [48:57] Paxton because you think he's too conservative or he wasn't your choice or whatever, but Tallarica will [49:03] destroy Texas and we cannot have that. And so we need those non-MAGA Republicans to vote for Ken [49:10] Paxton. We have to come together. We have to unite and we have to beat Tallarica for the sake of our [49:14] nation. As Texas goes, so goes the nation. It's so true. And I hope and pray that Ken Paxton wins [49:22] that and is the next Senator there in Texas. Now let's shift gears. I will say that there is some [49:28] good things. Senator Ted Cruz, his PAC has spent money to help Ken Paxton. And I do hear that Elon Musk, [49:37] his PAC may be helping as well, but nevertheless, that is not money that directly that Ken Paxton [49:46] can control. And those are outside groups, those super PACs that can support him. He's also hoping [49:51] that President Trump will spend some of his 400 million in his MAGA Inc. PAC to help. But notably, [49:59] he's relying on outside money to be able to get to where he needs to be to define Tallarica. [50:05] There's so much I want to talk about when it comes to James Tallarica and him standing in [50:10] pulpits in various churches. You know, I don't know how many churches he's gone to. There's so [50:16] much I want to say about it, but I'm going to hold back. I'll say one thing. Jesus said it himself [50:22] in the Bible. He goes, depart for me. I never knew you. When it comes to saying that this is what it's [50:29] like at the end, when people are going to God, God, did we not pray in your name or did we not do this [50:36] miracle or did we not, or try and do a miracle? And God will say, depart from me. I never knew [50:41] you. You doer of iniquity. And all I'm saying is nobody's perfect. We know that. But I'm talking [50:47] about the connection with Jesus, the connection with the Holy Spirit, the real stuff, man. And [50:53] this James Tallarica guy, way off base. And these churches that let him in, come on, guys. Anyway, [50:59] I said I wasn't going to say anything, but there I went. But do you agree with me, Christian? [51:03] Absolutely. I mean, everything that he's teaching is heresy. He's an apostate, and he believes he's [51:11] doing the Lord's work by trying to trans our kids. Uh-uh. You know, the scripture talks about if you [51:17] heard even one of these, may a millstone be tied around your neck. And that is terrible what he [51:23] wants to do to children. He says he loves trans kids. If you love trans kids, you'll work to stop [51:28] them from being trans and stop confusing their minds and help them be who God called them to be. [51:33] There are only two genders. If you're born a male, you're a male. If you're born a female, [51:38] you're a female. You're not confused. You should not be confused about that, is my point. [51:45] Exactly. And then to the people that have had those surgeries, we saw from our government, [51:51] they put out a video of those same people getting interviewed. And it's like that's the major detox [51:57] that happened in their mind because all of the problems they had physically. And it's just this [52:01] awful, awful. It's again, it's the whole socialism, communism. It's like, come on over here. We'll [52:07] give you something free or, hey, this is the way to do it. And then before you know it, it gets twisted [52:11] right at the last second. And it's awful. Anyway, speaking of awful, mass migration is awful. I saw [52:17] your ex posts about that when it comes to places like Paris. You were just in Paris. Can you talk [52:22] about what it's like out there in France? Well, visiting Paris on New Year's, it was terrible [52:31] because they had to shut everything down effectively because of the mass migration in that particular [52:38] area. And there were so many people there. And I had a hard time finding one ethnically French [52:43] person. I was there with my wife. And I think that's really a problem, not because I don't like [52:52] immigrants. The problem is that if people fail to assimilate and you have a large quantity coming [53:00] at once, then there's going to be social disruption. And that's what you've effectively [53:06] seen. And there are people there that do not share Western values. You're bringing in people [53:12] that their views are antithetical, actually, to Western values. And they hate the West, some of them, [53:18] but they want to benefit from the West. And that's what we're seeing here in the United States of [53:23] America. You look at places like Michigan, you have Abdul Saeed, who's running. And he's a far leftist [53:32] aligned with the DSA. I mean, he's been trained in elite American schools, and he's had a healthcare [53:37] background. But he is a product of mass migration. And it's a little different than people coming across [53:44] our southern border. Because this chain migration issue is when they're trying to keep families [53:49] together, they're bringing in more and more people. And you end up with entire populations [53:55] here that do not share our values. And they've brought in way too many. And everything from [54:01] their views on foreign policy, their understanding of America. You look at, in Minnesota, just some of the [54:09] things that have been more flamboyant about Ilan Omar, the things that she's said. She talks about [54:15] the Benjamins. She talks about 9-11. Their entire view of the world is so warped. And there are fair [54:24] discussions we can have about foreign policy. We should have those debates. But their hate and [54:29] disdain for Israel, their hate and disdain for Jewish people is just so rabid. It's really disgusting. [54:36] And that is really problematic. And they really hate America. They hate Israel. And that's what [54:44] they're here to do is to subvert America. And then on top of that, when it comes to mass migration, [54:50] usually it's mass illegal migration. So it's not even like somebody legally entered the country. [54:57] A lot of times it could be through the illegal means. And at 1030 Eastern, we'll cover live the [55:03] House Oversight and Government Reform Meeting. It's all about protecting American citizenship [55:08] by confronting birth tourism. So we'll get to that in just a minute. This is Christian Collins [55:13] joining us live, the founder of the Texas Youth Summit. I've been bringing Christian on, [55:19] if you haven't noticed, every Tuesday. I call it Texas Tuesdays because I really like to have that [55:24] opportunity to promote what you guys are doing there at the Texas Youth Summit because it's exactly [55:29] what I believe is what the founding of our country is about. God, family, and country. And is that not [55:35] what your Texas Youth Summit is all about in October? [55:38] Yes. We are so grateful for your coverage of our event. And we're excited to present something that's [55:45] giving people Christian and conservative values. And we want people to understand that this country [55:51] was founded on Judeo-Christian values. And we need to educate young people with those values, [55:56] especially. And we have some great speakers this year. We're going to have, of course, Brandon Gill, [56:04] Nick Shirley, Riley Gaines. The list goes on. And we're working to make sure that young people [56:13] recognize that everything that they're being taught in their public schools or when they're going off to [56:18] college, they're working to subvert their foundation. And effectively, I mean, there are so many parents [56:26] here that are conservative that send their kids off to these public institutions and then they come [56:31] out liberals. And so we want young people to have this firm foundation. I know that this is a problem [56:36] because when I went off to college, I'd grown up in a Christian home. My dad was a pastor, but I turned [56:42] out liberal for a season. And I don't want people to turn out the way I did. I was also agnostic. And [56:48] so my purpose in doing this event, we had 3,500 people last year. We had a worship service. It was [56:54] just amazing. We have a lineup of 30 amazing speakers is so that we can educate those that are coming on [57:04] those correct values so that they have the right worldview, that their houses are built on the sand, [57:09] not built on the sand, but on the firm foundation. It's so true. You know, you think about it as a [57:14] teenager, then into your 20s, you are a sponge actually since birth until about 25, 30 or whatever. [57:20] You're just listening and hearing it and a lot of sway and pull and everything's trying to grab [57:25] your attention. But if you really seek out truth and you seek out Jesus and you seek out like what's [57:31] right. I mean, most of the time, sometimes your heart is already in that right place. This is the kind [57:37] of place that you can go, the Texas Youth Summit, to just get encouraged to continue to live out the [57:42] full purpose of why you even existed or why you even exist on the earth in the first place. Isn't [57:48] that it, Christian? I mean, you know, I remember a pastor saying one time, and we'll wrap up the [57:53] interview here in a sec, but it's on the tombstone. It's the year you're born. It's the year you pass. [57:59] But what's in the middle? It's just a dash. And that's how fast life can be sometimes. And it's like, [58:05] how are you going to spend the dash? Christian, also, I understand you're participating in the [58:11] TPUSA pick up the mic initiative. Can you tell us about that in our closing part of the interview? [58:19] Well, Turning Point USA has been a great sponsor of our organization, along with Leadership Institute [58:25] and so many other great organizations that help us do what we do. And Charlie Kirk was along a speaker [58:31] at our events, and I was blessed to get to be a speaker at his event. And they have an initiative [58:36] called Pick Up the Mic coming up, where we're going to be going to college campuses and having [58:42] good conversations with young people, just like Charlie did. And I don't think anyone can ever do [58:47] it as great as Charlie did, frankly. But we're going to do our best. And we're, you know, we've got [58:53] some wisdom, and we want to be able to have good conversations that we aren't just, you know, [58:57] clip farming and trying to make kids look stupid. I'm going there sincerely to make sure that these [59:04] young people are ministered to. And sometimes you have to have debates, you have to have dialogue [59:11] that is uncomfortable. And there might be people that are hostile. But, you know, my intent in going [59:16] and doing this is to help them come away with the right values. And I want to minister to people. I want [59:22] to lead people to Christ. I want them to have a conservative philosophy and worldview, because I [59:28] believe that if you're a Christian, you would have that philosophy. And I care about these kids, [59:32] and that's why I want to go have conversations with them and make a difference. And so, and I feel [59:37] like every speaker that's a part of the Turning Point Pick Up the Mic initiative, they feel the same [59:41] way. Exactly. And, you know, sometimes people think maybe college kids or others, or maybe somebody [59:46] with blue hair and all this stuff, that they would say, basically, not all is lost. Because all you do [59:53] is you keep working on the barrier of the indoctrination or the brainwashing. And that's [59:59] what Charlie Kirk was awesome at. He was able to just dissect this conversation, dissect that [1:00:05] information on the fly. And then somebody sits there and they're like, oh, you're right. And that is [1:00:12] undoing the work, Christian. And I know you're preaching to the choir here, but it's good to [1:00:16] talk about because it's undoing the work of the indoctrination of the corrupted school system, [1:00:21] the media, and all the things that people have heard. And you're going to have that opportunity, [1:00:25] Christian. How awesome is that, man? That's awesome. And the Bible says, [1:00:30] a gentle answer turns away wrath. And one of the good things about Charlie Kirk, I don't know if you [1:00:34] ever saw him on like the WhatsApp podcast where he was debating OnlyFan models. And he was so kind [1:00:40] of them. He didn't go out there and call them names. I've seen others who were just so mean to [1:00:47] him and called them names. And I don't think that's going to convince someone who's living the wrong [1:00:51] lifestyle of anything. He was very gentle with them. He was very kind, but he was firm in what [1:00:56] he believed. And the same thing needs to be said about how we go about this work with Pick Up the [1:01:00] Mic. We need to be able to give an answer to whomever asks a question. We need to give an answer for [1:01:06] our faith. That's what the scripture says. But a gentle answer turns away wrath. So we [1:01:10] got to be able to talk to people the way they need to be talked to, but be firm in our faith and share [1:01:16] the right values. I think case in point, look at Chloe Cole. She's one of our speakers. She's a [1:01:22] detransitioner. She's very lovely and feminine, but you wouldn't know that for a season she was [1:01:28] transitioning to attempt to be a boy. And she shares her story and all the things that she went [1:01:35] through. And I think there's a lot of young people there. If we look at them with courtesy and [1:01:40] care and go about our business that way, I mean, we're going to have to be able to debate them. [1:01:47] And, you know, we might get a little frustrated and that's, we're human, but at the end of the day, [1:01:53] you know, we should love all people, even people that, you know, have blue hair or, you know, [1:01:58] are wearing a mask or, you know, looking different than us. And we need to work to actually try and [1:02:03] convince them. And the reason why it's captured on camera is because we want others to be able to see [1:02:09] this communication. And so that we can convince others online as well, because a lot of young [1:02:14] people are getting their information from, you know, TikTok or these short reels on Instagram [1:02:19] where they get their ideas. You know, there, there is a time and place, of course, that you win people [1:02:24] with honey, not vinegar, honey, not vinegar. Right. And you look at the Bible. I mean, Jesus is, [1:02:30] is, is, is God, the son of God, perfect sitting there meeting with all sorts of people that the [1:02:38] religious crowd of the day, Hey, you're sitting with sinners, Jesus. And he's like, basically, [1:02:43] remember he goes, um, for those that don't have the, uh, don't have sin can cast the first stone or, [1:02:48] you know, that whole parable and the situation there. He was, he was still with the people and, [1:02:55] uh, that's pretty awesome stuff. And it's awesome that you are doing that Texas youth summit, man. [1:02:59] That's going to be great. And then the TPUSA, uh, pick up the mic, uh, event. So Christian [1:03:04] Collins, again, thank you so much for joining us. Where can people follow you on X and anywhere [1:03:08] else? I got me a message the other day about this whole thing going on with this [1:08:38] Miss USA pageant and the fact that someone just won that is a mom and really just all about family [1:08:48] as well. So is that a first in the pageantry? It most definitely is. Justice Kelly, who's [1:08:55] actually from Northern Virginia, so the Washington, D.C. area, is the first mother, first married [1:09:01] woman, and even the first person over the most recent age limit, 28. So she's 31, who won the [1:09:09] Miss USA pageant. And Miss USA is part of the Miss USA organization. And we've definitely seen [1:09:15] married women at Miss Universe already. And as you probably know, or maybe you don't [1:09:19] know, Donald Trump was the previous owner of Miss USA and Miss Universe. So of course, [1:09:25] it is a huge pageant franchise. And it is a huge opportunity that a mother won this pageant [1:09:33] system. [1:09:33] And then I understand in 2024, you competed as Miss Georgia USA as well. What is it like [1:09:39] to just see the nuclear family being celebrated through this situation here? [1:09:45] When I competed at Miss Georgia USA, it was just amazing to see other married women and mothers [1:09:52] be able to compete with me. And I did it when my husband was deployed. So it was already a very [1:09:59] difficult time. So I was able to take care of my son. And I'm grateful I had family help out. But [1:10:05] overall, it was such a difficult process. There were so many times I decided, like, oh, my goodness, [1:10:12] maybe I should just quit. Maybe I shouldn't compete. [1:10:14] Frances, what we're going to do is we're going to record this interview. We have to go to D.C. [1:10:18] for Capitol Hill. We'll be right back with you. [1:10:21] Welcome back. It's good to be back. The American people gave Congress a mandate to change the direction [1:10:28] of this country. And Republicans took that mandate seriously. We inherited a wide open border, [1:10:36] communities worried about public safety, record high inflation, and a federal government that had [1:10:44] forgotten a pretty basic, simple truth. And that truth is, we work for you, the American people. [1:10:53] So what did we do? We got to work. This has been the most aggressive and productive Congress [1:11:01] in 77 years, since Harry Truman was president. In terms of number of bills passed, tax legislation, [1:11:12] and deregulation, this has been the most successful Congress. Now, I know you don't all hear that, [1:11:19] because sometimes that doesn't get covered, and we focus more on what we need to do. We still need [1:11:24] to do some work, but we need to take a moment and just look at the work that this Congress has [1:11:31] accomplished. We closed the border. We don't talk about that anymore. Why? Because it's closed. [1:11:37] We protected the most vulnerable. We restored common sense back to Washington. And with the working [1:11:45] families' tax cuts, we put more money back in your pocket, in the pockets of people who deserve it. [1:11:55] There's a fundamental divide in this country over what government is supposed to look like. [1:12:01] And the contrast could not be more clear. The Democratic Party is the party of communism. [1:12:09] They want state-controlled everything. Republicans understand that the American people deserve the [1:12:19] freedom to actually make their own decisions and control their own lives and build their own lives [1:12:27] and determine their own future, not the government. Just look at New York City. Under Communist [1:12:36] mayor Mondami, he promised free everything, right? Free buses and lower rents. Y'all remember that? [1:12:43] We should go back and ask him. Because last I checked, the buses still cost money? And actual rents in New [1:12:51] York? They went up. Okay. He promises one thing, and then reality is another. I mean, Manhattan's average [1:13:02] rent right now. $5,300. $5,300. That's exactly where communist leads. Broken promises and unaffordable [1:13:14] necessities. During the summer months, New York residents and businesses were told, hey, got a little [1:13:20] problem here. Y'all can have air condition, but you got to set it at 78 degrees. Mandates that, right? Tries to [1:13:28] mandate that. Okay. And New Yorkers are paying twice for their groceries. They pay it once with [1:13:34] their tax dollars, and they pay it again when they go to buy that food for their families. That's not [1:13:41] freedom. That's a tyrannical government forcing its claws into your home, your business, and your [1:13:49] everyday life. We believe in you. We believe you should have the freedom to choose. Democrats believe [1:13:57] big government is the best steward of your money. I mean, just take a look at Democratic-run Minnesota, [1:14:03] right, Tom? I mean, that government in Minnesota is a really good steward of your money. All those [1:14:10] leering centers, right? Republicans actually believe that you are a better steward of your [1:14:17] money. We look at the paycheck and see the alarm clock that went off before sunrise, the extra shift [1:14:23] that people work, the long commute, the dinners you miss with your family and your kids. That's money [1:14:29] that you earned. That does not belong to Washington. That belongs to you. That is a simple contrast. [1:14:40] You earned it. You should decide how to spend it, save it, invest it, or how to use it to build your [1:14:50] future, the future that you want. Not that some government bureaucrat tells you. That's what small [1:14:57] government is, and that's what small government is supposed to look like. Not small ambitions. Big [1:15:03] results with Washington taking up less space in your life. Our job is not to tell you how to live [1:15:13] your life. It's to make sure you have the freedom, security, and opportunity to build the life that you [1:15:23] choose. That's what this Congress has done, and that's what this Congress has been about. And you [1:15:30] know what? The job's not finished. There will always be another challenge, another fight, another reason [1:15:38] for Washington to try to take just a little bit more power away from you and give it to themselves. But [1:15:46] over the course of this Congress, we have changed the trajectory of the country. Did we secure the border? [1:15:55] Make our communities safer? And protect the more vulnerable? Absolutely we did. But we also set the [1:16:04] table for Americans to be successful for the future. A safer community, a stronger economy, more [1:16:13] opportunity, and a government that remembers who handed it the keys in the first place. And you handed the [1:16:23] government the keys. It was the American people that handed the government the keys. Let's not forget [1:16:28] who runs this country. It's the American people. And ultimately, those keys belong right back in your [1:16:36] hands. Republicans put you back in the driver's seat. Let's keep them there. Oh, good. He looks too. Stand in. [1:16:55] You have no idea. After today, 47 states will have held their primary elections. Our biggest takeaway is [1:17:07] that we are no we no longer have a two party system in this country. We no longer have two parties that [1:17:17] believe in our form of government and in our form of government in the the is the best way to govern a [1:17:25] country. On November 3rd, more than 120 candidates backed by the self named self proclaimed Democratic Socialists of [1:17:34] America, which all you people keep parroting. I more appropriately, they should be referred to as the [1:17:41] communists of America will appear on ballots all across this country. This includes dozens of [1:17:47] congressional candidates. In case anyone needs a refresher, these people support open borders, dismantling our [1:17:54] military, eliminating the free market, supporting gender mutilation of our children and defunding local, state and federal law enforcement. [1:18:05] Their platform is blatantly anti American. They hate America, America. There is nothing democratic about socialism. [1:18:16] They are communists. We've got a candidate for U.S. Senate, Abdul El Sayed in Michigan, who has pledged support after [1:18:23] Lisa wants to bring up Minnesota, I'll bring up Michigan because Abdul El Sayed, this supposedly this great [1:18:30] candidate. Nobody pointed out who is running against him. I might be a reason why that didn't work out. But this guy who [1:18:37] is going to run as the communist alternative in Michigan to Mike Rogers has pledged support for the leader of the terrorist [1:18:46] group, the Muslim Brotherhood. El Sayed also refuses to condemn rhetoric that we deserved 9 11. We got the 25th anniversary [1:18:57] coming up here. That's totally inappropriate. Democrats are nominating people just like Ilhan Omar, who [1:19:07] literally hate America. This is not good for real Democrats, but it's also not good for our nation. [1:19:14] We have a fight brewing between common sense and communism. This week, the House is voting on a [1:19:19] resolution denouncing socialism. I'm hoping our colleagues across the aisle might join in that common [1:19:24] sense vote. With that, I'll turn it over to our leader, Steve Scalise. Well, thank you, whip. Good to [1:19:33] see all of you going to be back. And we have a lot of work to do. If you look at the votes today, we're [1:19:39] going to start off by bringing the bill to properly fund government through December 10th. Something really [1:19:46] important to continue to give certainty while the Senate processes the appropriations bills we've sent [1:19:52] them. We want to get a longer term deal, but at a minimum, let's ensure that we can continue to [1:19:57] see government properly funded and functioning so we don't have the chaos that Democrats gave us [1:20:05] last year with lines at every single airport with shutdowns, where our troops pay was in question, [1:20:11] where you had so much uncertainty that we don't need. So we're bringing that bill today to get that [1:20:17] taken care of and sent to President Trump's desk. We're also bringing another bill to address this [1:20:24] contrast. And look, I know the speaker's going to talk about it. The whip just talked about it, [1:20:30] and so did our conference chair. This November, the American people are facing the clearest contrast [1:20:37] they've ever had, a contrast between common sense conservatives and crazy communism. It's on the ballot. [1:20:45] You're seeing these candidates left and right, whether they're DSA, whatever they want to call [1:20:50] themselves. It's their platform that we have real concerns about. And frankly, it's their platform, [1:20:55] what they stand for, what they would do if they got power, that the American people are growingly [1:21:02] concerned and alarmed about. And they should be. During this break, I went through a lot of different [1:21:08] districts from the West Coast to the East Coast and Middle America. And everywhere you went, people [1:21:13] understand this contrast more and more. It's becoming crystallized. I'm sure you're going to hear about it [1:21:19] more at the convention next week, a midterm convention that never happened before. President [1:21:24] Trump decided we're going to do something different because President Trump has been shaking up [1:21:30] Washington and doing things differently. And one of those differences is we're going to go before the [1:21:35] American people next week and start talking about those contrasts, what we've done to make life more [1:21:41] affordable for working families. If you look at the things that this Republican majority has done with [1:21:47] President Trump. Inflation is down from where it was two years ago. Gas prices are down from where [1:21:53] they were two years ago, not where we want them to be, but lower than where they were. Interest rates [1:21:58] are lower than where they were. You know what's up right now? Wages are actually higher than where they [1:22:04] were two years ago. The deficit is down because we cut $1.6 trillion in wasteful spending. Every Democrat [1:22:12] opposed that, by the way, because Democrats wanted to see a tax increase on every single working family [1:22:19] in America. We stopped that from happening. But if Democrats get back power, that's what will happen. [1:22:25] And they've said it. They've said a whole lot of other crazy things too. They surely want open borders. [1:22:31] They want to defund prisons. I don't even know how you could say something as crazy as that. [1:22:37] You know, do they want those prisoners to leave the prison and go into their neighborhoods? [1:22:42] No American I've found anywhere I went wants that to come to their neighborhood. But that's what [1:22:47] these candidates want on the Democrat side. This is not your father's Democrat party. And so we're [1:22:53] going to draw another contrast this week with a vote on the House floor to say not only do we denounce [1:22:59] socialism, but also the idea of people that aren't American citizens voting in our elections [1:23:06] because that's part of their platform. The DSA platform says they want people that are not [1:23:11] Americans to vote in American elections. Again, I've found very few Americans that want that, [1:23:18] that don't identify as socialists or communists. And so all of that is on the ballot this November. [1:23:25] And by the way, there's a cost to all of this madness that the left and the Democrat party now has [1:23:30] embraced because it's been taken over. I called it the Bolshevik revolution. It's real, but there's a cost. [1:23:37] There's been estimates that the cost of all this free stuff will be over 200 trillion dollars, [1:23:43] trillion with a T. And everybody knows that. You go look at any socialist country, you know, [1:23:48] Margaret Thatcher said it best. The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other [1:23:52] people's money. And the states where they're trying to do this are running out of other people's money [1:23:57] because those people that they're targeting over and over again to pay for all the free stuff are just [1:24:02] leaving. They're leaving those blue states and going to red states. But if they ruin America, [1:24:08] there's nowhere else to flee. And that's why we're going to stop them from taking over this great [1:24:13] country. And that's why we're going to hold this majority and keep this great speaker, Mike Johnson, [1:24:19] in office. Thank you, Leader Scalise. It's good to see you all. Welcome back. We, of course, [1:24:26] had all the members out fanned out across the country. House Republicans worked really hard during the [1:24:31] annual August district work period, had some really productive time with their constituents [1:24:37] and the people they represent. It's a really important part of the job, obviously, to be out [1:24:41] and be with and among our constituents. It's so valuable, the members, and it makes us all better [1:24:48] advocates for the families and the workers and the communities we represent here in our nation's [1:24:53] capital. We just had our weekly meeting with all the House Republicans, and there's a great feeling [1:24:59] amongst the body because the House Republicans have gotten great feedback back in their districts. [1:25:04] They've been working really hard, and they understand that they see that the people understand [1:25:09] that the stakes are so high in what we're doing right now. And then the fateful midterm election [1:25:15] that is now just 63 days away from us. I spent time back in my beloved home state of Louisiana, [1:25:20] and I met with business owners and farmers and local leaders in my district, and I have heard the [1:25:26] same sentiment from where I come from. And then throughout the month, I took those conversations [1:25:31] on the road, went to every corner and pocket of America. In total, I went to over 54 cities, [1:25:38] did over 75 campaign events and countless meetings with groups and individuals. Over the time, [1:25:45] I think 71 different members and candidates joined me at some point along the way. I joined them. [1:25:51] We were across 18 states overall. So from Alaska to Albuquerque to the Great Lakes down in the Rio [1:25:58] Grand Valley, everywhere in between, literally, we were everywhere. And our team of common sense [1:26:04] conservative candidates heard from parents and workers and small business owners and retirees [1:26:09] on the issues that matter most. And I'll restate what I told the voters in all those cities I went to, [1:26:15] over 50, I think it was 54 cities. We are going to, listen to what I'm telling you, [1:26:20] you can write it. I hope you quote me. I've been saying this over and over, but Republicans are going [1:26:24] to defy history in 63 days, and we're going to hold this House majority. And that's for a simple [1:26:29] reason, because the American people recognize the historic stakes of this, and they really do [1:26:34] understand that this is a contrast election. We've been saying that for months. It's not a contract with [1:26:39] America here. We did that in 2024. We kept our promises. This is a contrast for America year. And as [1:26:46] we summarize it, it's a contrast between common sense and crazy, and now common sense and communism. [1:26:52] Every election is a battle for the future of the country, obviously. And, you know, people are apt [1:26:57] to say this election is the most important one of our lifetimes. But more than any election in my [1:27:02] lifetime, I genuinely believe, and I think that people see, this year is different. 2026 is different. [1:27:08] This is going to be a midterm unlike any other. The question that voters across the nation have to [1:27:12] answer this fall is whether we're going to turn the greatest nation in the history of the world [1:27:18] over to communism and big government socialism, as radical left Democrats insist, or whether we're [1:27:25] going to maintain our status as a constitutional republic, the great nation, the grand experiment [1:27:31] of self-governance that's built on our foundational principles like individual freedom and unlimited [1:27:36] opportunity and human dignity and the rule of law. That's what we stand for. So Republicans stand for [1:27:41] that's what we'll always stand for. That's what we're doing and advancing here every day. If you're [1:27:45] like most Americans, the battle comes down to a simple question. Really, at the end of the day, [1:27:49] which policies are going to be better for my family? And that is the question you should be asking. [1:27:55] Do American families want a return to rampant inflation, record crime, record illegal immigration [1:28:02] that we had under Democrat governance? Or do they want to continue the restoration of common sense? [1:28:07] Do they want to continue having safer communities? Do they want to continue greater affordability [1:28:13] that's already underway under Republican governance? We have a lot more to do. But this is the team [1:28:18] that you must keep in place to continue those great strides and not reverse it and not go back to what we [1:28:24] had. Republicans understand, as Ronald Reagan did, that the answer to our woes is not more government. [1:28:30] It is less. And that's the principle that we've answered every day as well. The American people [1:28:35] demand and deserve government that works better for them. The Republicans have spent the 119th [1:28:39] Congress putting forward policies aimed at doing exactly that. You heard a little bit of summary [1:28:43] of what we've accomplished. I have been saying for months, and now the objective data verifies, [1:28:49] as the study is showing here, this has literally been the most productive and successful and aggressive [1:28:54] Congress since 1949. And I think it's in the top five of all time. We delivered just in the last [1:29:02] little over a year and a half here, the largest middle and working class tax cut in American history [1:29:07] and also prevented the biggest tax hike in American history that would have happened by default [1:29:12] last December had we not accomplished our mission. We delivered the lowest violent crime rate in 126 years, [1:29:19] the lowest level of illegal border crossings in half a century, a tax-advantaged investment account [1:29:26] for every American child, the first ever nationwide school choice program, the biggest decrease in [1:29:33] prescription drug prices in over 60 years. We doubled the child tax credit. We have iconic companies like [1:29:41] Ford and Toyota, General Motors reshoring production and bringing jobs back home to communities across this [1:29:47] country. By way of reminder, the Democrats in this Congress voted against every single thing I just [1:29:53] recounted for you. This is R's versus D's on the policy front, and now the D's are being taken over by [1:30:00] the Communists. These are just a few examples of the many positive and transformational outcomes of [1:30:05] common sense Republican governance, and we look forward to continuing that good work for the remainder [1:30:09] of this year and beyond. As I like to say all the time, it is record over rhetoric. We're confident [1:30:16] American voters are going to remember that when they had to vote this fall. Ronald Reagan used to [1:30:20] remind us all the time that you can trust the American people. When they have the facts, [1:30:24] they will make the right decision. And he also reminded us, and I've been apt to repeat this on [1:30:29] the campaign trail everywhere I went over the last 30 days or so, that freedom is never more than one [1:30:34] generation away from extinction. We do not pass it along in the bloodstream. It has to be fought for. [1:30:39] It has to be protected. It has to be then taught and passed along to the next generation so they too [1:30:43] will have the same liberty and opportunity and security that we've known. And frankly, [1:30:47] too often, too many Americans have taken for granted. We cannot take this for granted anymore. [1:30:52] The, as I said, the barbarians are now inside the gate. By our account, there's almost 40 openly [1:30:58] avowed Marxists, communists, socialists. They're all in the same camp. Marxism, you understand, [1:31:03] in Marxism, socialism is a step to get to communism, okay? Communism, Marx thought would be the utopia, [1:31:11] the perfect society. He's absolutely, deadly wrong. We started a website while we were out [1:31:16] on the trail a few weeks ago. It's contrastforamerica.com. Contrastforamerica.com. You can [1:31:22] see the history of socialism, Marxism, communism. Everywhere it's been tried, it leads to human [1:31:27] suffering and famine and misery. It also leads to death. In fact, communism has been the result of [1:31:33] the murder of tens of millions of innocent people in the 20th century alone. It is built upon the wrong [1:31:39] premises. It begins with a premise that there is no God, for example, and America is one nation [1:31:45] under God. And that has been the secret, the foundational truth of why we have stood for all [1:31:49] these great principles and why we've been the greatest nation. We are not going to go down that road. [1:31:53] And when you have almost 40 of these people who have won elections, they've won these Democrat [1:31:58] primaries in these blue states and districts and other places as well, at the congressional level [1:32:03] and in the states. This is a serious threat to us. This isn't a flash in the pan. This isn't a New [1:32:08] York City problem. There are many Mamdani's popping up all around America. I've been saying for months and [1:32:12] now we're seeing it. So we must defeat them. But here's the reality. Some of these crazy Democrats, [1:32:18] these Marxist socialist communists who have won these primaries are going to win in these deep blue [1:32:25] districts. And they're coming to the to the people's house and they will be raising their hand to take an [1:32:30] oath supposedly to uphold the Constitution when they're out on the campaign trail, trashing it, [1:32:35] saying they want to rip it in half. They want to abolish the borders. They want to abolish prisons. [1:32:40] They want to they want to defund the police. They want to abolish the U.S. Senate. That's kind of an [1:32:43] important article one convention. They want to remove the president. They want one unicameral body, [1:32:49] the house to run everything. Why? Because they have calculated that over two or three cycles, [1:32:53] they can elect enough Marxists to take the thing over. And then you know what they want to do? They want [1:32:57] to take over the means of production. They don't want private property ownership. [1:33:00] This is crazy stuff. They want to defund the Department of War. How's that going to go in [1:33:04] a dangerous world? It's madness. So our job is to defeat them. And I'm so grateful that we have [1:33:10] extraordinary candidates that we've recruited across this country. And those 21 or so seats that [1:33:15] are going to decide the fate of the Republic, that's the seats that are going to be they're [1:33:18] going to decide the majority. I'm absolutely convinced that we can win those because we have [1:33:22] better candidates. We have a common sense message. What we have done with our record resonates with the [1:33:27] people. And our candidates are pointing out the absolute madness that is ensuing on the other side. [1:33:33] And in a contrast election, in a fateful year, on the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation in [1:33:38] the history of the world, I believe the American people are going to do the right thing. So you're going [1:33:42] to see me with boundless joy around here, okay? I'm very optimistic about this. And this is not just, [1:33:47] again, it's not campaign rhetoric. I've seen it myself. I went to every one of these districts. I've seen the [1:33:52] people. The American people are not down with communism. And I'm glad we're on the right side [1:33:56] of this. Now, onto this week. House Republicans are eager to continue our work on the people's [1:34:00] business here in Washington. And the first and most urgent order of business is to take up the [1:34:04] Senate-passed CR. Now, we began this work months ago, back in the mid-part of the summer. We passed [1:34:11] the CR for government funding. And now the Senate's done it. We're going to avoid the threat of another [1:34:16] Democrat shutdown. We know why this is necessary. These crazy Democrats in Congress don't mind shutting the [1:34:21] government down and hurting the American people. They demonstrated that already three times this [1:34:25] Congress for a combined 120 days. That's a record, of course. That's roughly one-third of the calendar [1:34:33] year of our federal government went without full funding because Democrats tried to play political [1:34:37] games. I don't believe they're going to do that anymore. I certainly hope not on this CR. We'll take [1:34:43] up. It simply holds funding steady at current levels through December 11th as Republicans work to [1:34:49] complete the full-year appropriations process. We've done that work in the House, as you know. [1:34:53] And we'll continue to push forward. Republicans have made remarkable progress towards returning to [1:34:57] regular order and restoring the appropriations process the way it's supposed to work to a [1:35:02] committee-driven approach, as it should be. And our appropriators have worked very hard to restore [1:35:07] that muscle memory. And we are really, really grateful for their work because that is how [1:35:12] you act as a good steward of taxpayer dollars and resources. And we're going to continue all that great [1:35:18] work. So with that, I'll take a few questions. Second row, yes. So there's three branches of [1:36:09] government and the federal government, right? There's an executive and we operate the legislative. [1:36:14] We try to coordinate as best we can because we have unified government. Of course, the voters gave [1:36:18] us a mandate in 2024. They gave us a White House, a Senate, and the House. I talk with the president [1:36:22] very often, sometimes multiple times a day. I talk to him about an hour and a half ago, he called me, [1:36:28] about things happening today. And I give my counsel and we have discussion about these things. And he [1:36:35] takes counsel from a multitude of people. And that's what a president is supposed to do. [1:36:40] The executive branch is doing their thing. We're doing our thing. Canada, for example, you mentioned, [1:36:43] you know, Canada is an important ally, but they have not always been a fair trading partner. And the [1:36:49] the president has shown his prowess at navigating through these trade discussions and agreements [1:36:55] and negotiating much better, much more favorable agreements and arrangements for the American [1:37:00] people. And that's where this is going to wind up, sooner the better, obviously. We all agree. [1:37:06] But some of these things are, you know, out of our control. World events, what's happening in Iran. Yes, [1:37:11] we want to resolve that as quickly as possible, making sure that we get the job done. And we did. [1:37:17] And I got asked the question on the campaign trail a lot over August. What about Iran? Well, look, [1:37:21] we were the largest state sponsor of terrorism was this close to having nuclear capability. And [1:37:26] I know that because I'm on the gang of eight and I got all the briefings. Okay. And everybody who saw [1:37:30] that in the classified briefing knows how dangerously close they were. And so it was necessitated that that [1:37:37] problem be taken care of. That had been an objective, by the way, of every administration and the policy [1:37:42] of every administration for almost 50 years. They were chanting death to America for 47 straight [1:37:47] years. Well, we eliminated their nuclear capability. And now we need to resolve that. And what I've been [1:37:53] saying and what I believe is going to happen is that our allied countries around the world who agree [1:37:58] with this principle, this objective, they do not want a nuclear-armed Iran and they want stability in [1:38:03] the region, that they're willing and able to assist in the various aspects of that. Because what does it mean? [1:38:08] Well, right now the Strait of Hormuz, we have to have stability there for commerce and in the Red [1:38:13] Sea and in the region. Other countries around the world, our NATO allies, our Arab states in the [1:38:19] region, they have a bigger stake in that than Americans do. And I think they're willing to assist [1:38:23] in that regard to make sure that commerce stays open so we have stability in the markets, for example, [1:38:28] with oil and gas. Now, I'll point out this newest deal that was announced just, what, 48 hours ago, [1:38:33] the U.S. and Venezuela, you're talking about more than 60 billion barrels of oil that will now [1:38:40] be added to the mix and that will help us refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and also bring down [1:38:47] gas prices over the long run for Americans and everybody around the world. Really, that's a huge [1:38:52] amount of oil on the market. It further destabilizes and limits the ability of Iran to have strong hand [1:38:59] of negotiations. But the problem has been, and the reason we've been frustrated, is that the Iranians [1:39:03] simply cannot be trusted. They'll sit at a negotiation table and say something, they'll walk [1:39:08] away and do the opposite. For some of them, it's, you know, apparently part of their religion that they [1:39:13] can just lie to someone they disagree with. So that's been a difficult thing. And the President is, [1:39:18] has steady hands at the wheel. He is working every day to try to resolve this and negotiate it in a way [1:39:23] that is in the best interest of the American people and freedom-loving people around the world. [1:39:26] So, look, you can take issue by issue. We've got a, we've got a strong, hands-on, uh, president. [1:39:32] And he is, uh, his, his record speaks for itself. Uh, we have advanced the country. We have reversed [1:39:39] so many of the crazy policies and disaster that we inherited after four years of Biden-Harris. [1:39:44] We secured that border tight. We've returned to American energy dominance. We've restored the [1:39:48] principle of peace through strength. We passed over 899 pieces of legislation through the House, [1:39:53] uh, you know, codified, I think 125 executive orders, some number close to that at this point. [1:39:59] Uh, we, you know, we gave the biggest tax cut in U.S. history, prevented the largest tax cut, [1:40:03] no tax on tips, overtime, social security, all the things we've done. [1:40:06] Um, we're going to continue that stride. And, and it only works because you have a, [1:40:09] an aggressive president and you have a committed Republican majority in the Senate and the House [1:40:14] that are working every day to advance those principles. So we can quibble about individual issues, [1:40:19] but the record speaks for itself. Yeah. Yeah. Right here. Right here. Right here. [1:40:22] I have enough to say grace over in the legislative branch over here in the House. Um, so I don't, [1:40:42] I don't really get, let me answer. I don't really get involved in personnel decisions at the Pentagon. [1:40:47] Okay. I, I trust the, uh, the secretary of war to handle his business over there. And I, I, [1:40:52] frankly, have not, uh, delved into those individual cases. I mean, I, I, I literally don't have the [1:40:58] bandwidth to go over there and micromanage the Pentagon. Okay. So I have to trust that they're doing the right [1:41:02] thing and, and lots of opinions about all this, but I'm really, I'm literally not qualified to [1:41:07] address that. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Listen, the, the first ever midterm convention is something [1:41:27] that's gonna be so exciting. We, we, we, we are, I've been promoting this everywhere I've been. Uh, [1:41:32] we're going to have a huge number of our members and candidates there. Some of them need to be in [1:41:36] their district on those two days at September 9th and 10th is critical time right before early voting [1:41:41] begins nationwide. So people made individual decisions based upon what's best for their district and all that. [1:41:45] But, uh, we'll have at least an appearance by most of our members, I think we'll be there. [1:41:50] Um, it's going to be a great event. There's never, it's never happened before. Um, it was the [1:41:54] president's idea, which is why he's, he's getting credit for it. And it's rightfully so. I think it's, [1:41:59] it's going to be an extraordinary opportunity for us to get a couple of nights on national television [1:42:03] to talk about our extraordinary record of achievement, to, to, to push back against the false narrative [1:42:08] that, you know, a lot of people in the media have advanced about this Congress. We'll talk about what, [1:42:13] what, what has actually been done. The facts, facts are stubborn things, as John Adams said, [1:42:17] and then we'll parade our stars across the state. And then the, and the president will talk to the [1:42:21] American people and talk to them about the stakes of this and what would happen if these, these crazy [1:42:27] communist Democrats took over the house of representatives, it'd be a disaster. And, uh, [1:42:31] I think it's going to be a very instructive and very exciting and fun event. And, uh, [1:42:35] we're very much looking forward to it. I can't wait to get there myself. Yes. Yes, ma'am. Right here. [1:42:38] Yes, ma'am. Heard that at all. Um, look the, on the, on the larger matter, I don't know about the [1:42:55] details of that, but the larger matter is on election integrity. Look, everybody knows if [1:43:00] you just, just ask yourself quietly, is it a good idea to keep, uh, voting, uh, keep, uh, uh, keeping [1:43:08] tally of the vote vote, uh, counting votes a month after an election? I mean, obviously it opens the door [1:43:14] for all sorts of hijinks. You've got a state like California. They just, they just claim to have all these [1:43:19] new, you know, tranches of ballots, which are delivered in people's trunks with their ballot [1:43:22] harvesting and, you know, people receiving mail in ballots three weeks after an election. I mean, [1:43:27] it just, it, it gives the appearance of impropriety and it opens the door for fraud. And so the [1:43:33] president and Republicans in Congress have been a singular voice on this saying, we must have free [1:43:39] and fair elections. The Democrats in Congress will not vote for it. We passed the Save America Act [1:43:44] four times in the house. Okay. The most recent iteration, as you know, was on a resolution [1:43:49] tied to a budget reconciliation bill that we sent over to the Senate before the August district work [1:43:53] period began. We have, um, the, the Save America Act and we have funding for troops and farmers. Okay. [1:44:00] That is a, a, a, um, a deal that no Republican could vote against and every Democrat should vote for as well [1:44:07] because the, the Save America Act simply has two components, proof of citizenship to register to vote, [1:44:12] which is already federal law. It's just not being enforced and, and, and valid ID when you show up. [1:44:16] Those are 90, 10 public opinion polling issues. 74% of Democrats agree you should do that, [1:44:21] but we cannot get a single Democrat in the house or Senate to vote for that. It's, it's, it's shameful, [1:44:27] but because what, what is the, you should ask them. I hope you'll all go ask them. Why would you not [1:44:32] support proof of citizenship to vote and valid ID? They don't have, there is no answer to that. They want, [1:44:38] some of these people want to leave the, the Avenue open for irregularity and cheating and fraud. That's [1:44:44] the only, that's the only explanation that is logical. And it, and I, I think it's just shameful. [1:44:50] I think they should be called on it every single day. And the idea about the postal service, I mean, [1:44:54] the idea that they should be involved to make sure that there are valid votes being mailed and, and, [1:44:59] and, uh, registered and cast should not be a controversial notion. But every time there's a move [1:45:04] to try to do this, Democrats, uh, throw a fit or file a lawsuit. I mean, you should ask yourself, [1:45:10] what, what about the motivation? If you don't want a free and fair election, you should be questioned. [1:45:15] And instead of asking Republicans about that, you should go ask the Democrats who are holding all [1:45:18] this stuff up, uh, and then go ask the American people where they stand. I can tell you what, [1:45:22] they want a free and fair election, no matter what party they're in. So glad to see y'all. We'll be [1:45:26] back. Thank you. Thank you. All right. So we're going to go and stay on Capitol Hill because we can go now [1:45:39] to the House Oversight and Government Reform meeting. This is all about protecting American [1:45:43] citizenship by confronting birth tourism. It's a very busy news day, a lot more ahead here on RSPN, [1:45:50] but let's go to Capitol Hill right now. 44,000 babies, children have lost their SNAP benefits in the last [1:46:03] year. Now, if we care about children, let's care about children. The 14th Amendment was written in the [1:46:11] aftermath of slavery because this country had learned at an extraordinary cost what happens when the [1:46:19] government gets to decide which people born on American soil fully belong. We should not reopen [1:46:28] that door. We must not reopen that door. And for anyone watching this hearing today who believes that [1:46:36] citizenship should not depend on the politics of your parents, call your representative. Tell them to [1:46:43] oppose H.R. 9854 and tell them that this bill should never get a markup. And I will yield back. [1:46:53] Thank you, Ranking Member Simon. Without objection, Representatives Luna of Florida, Crane of Arizona, [1:46:58] McCormick of Georgia, and Menifee of Texas are waved onto the committee for the purpose of questioning [1:47:04] the witnesses at today's task force hearing. I'd now like to welcome the witnesses. First, we have [1:47:12] Dr. Vladimir, is that correct? Dr. Vladimir Lawrence, founder and chief medical officer for [1:47:19] Miami medical concierge services, also known as, quote, have my baby in Miami, unquote. Next, [1:47:26] we have Dr. Steven Camerota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, [1:47:31] who has studied issues linked immigration for decades, including economic, fiscal, and demographic [1:47:38] impacts of immigration. Thank you for joining us. I look forward to hearing from both of you. [1:47:43] Pursuant to committee rule 9G, the witnesses, will the witnesses please stand and raise the right hand? [1:47:51] Do you solemnly swear or affirm that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, [1:47:58] the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? So help you, God. Let the record show that the witness [1:48:04] is answered in the affirmative, and thank you. You can take a seat. I appreciate you being here today and [1:48:10] look forward to hearing from both of you. Let me remind the witnesses that we have read your written [1:48:15] statement, and it will appear in full in the hearing record. Please limit your oral statements [1:48:20] to five minutes. As a reminder, please press the button on the microphone in front of you so that [1:48:24] it's on and the members can hear you. When you begin to speak, the light in front of you will turn green. [1:48:29] After four minutes, the light will turn yellow. When the red light comes on, your five minutes will [1:48:34] have expired, and we would ask you to please wrap up. I now recognize Dr. Lorenz for his opening statement. [1:48:40] Can you hear me? Okay. Mr. Chairman, members of the task force, my name is Vladimir Lawrence. [1:48:54] I appear today in response to a subpoena issued by the Committee of Oversight and Government Reform [1:49:02] on August 26, 2026, compelling my attendance and testimony at this hearing. I am represented by [1:49:12] counsel, Jeffrey Sloman, seated behind me today. On the advice of counsel, I will respectfully decline [1:49:22] to answer any questions touching the subject matter of a pending federal investigation on the grounds [1:49:30] that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me. And I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment [1:49:38] to the United States Constitution. Nothing in my appearance here today and nothing in my [1:49:46] declining to answer questions should be understood as a concession regarding the merits of any matter [1:49:53] under my investigation. All rights, privileges, and objections available to me are expressively reserved. [1:50:02] Thank you for the opportunity to appear here. Witness declines to testify. I now recognize Dr. Camarota [1:50:14] for his opening statement. Thank you. I would like to thank the Committee for giving me the opportunity [1:50:21] to testify on this important topic of birth tourism. Paraphrasing Justice Clarence Thomas, birth tourism is the [1:50:29] practice of traveling here with a temporary visa solely to give birth and obtain citizenship for one's child, [1:50:35] then returning home to raise the child. My testimony will focus only on the likely number of birth tourists, [1:50:44] specific concerns raised by this practice, and what might be done to about it or to deter it. I will not [1:50:51] discuss the larger issue of birthright citizenship, though I'm happy to answer any questions in that area. [1:50:57] My analysis of the 2024 public use birth certificate records provided by CDC show about 8,700 births to [1:51:07] foreign-born mothers who provided an overseas address on the birth certificate application. Although some [1:51:13] researchers have tried to use this information to estimate the scale of the problem, this is not really [1:51:19] a valid approach because there is ample evidence that so-called birthing centers or birth houses in the United [1:51:27] States which have U.S. addresses are where the mother stays after she's given birth are the addresses [1:51:34] provided on birth certificates so the mother can receive the birth records before she leaves ensuring [1:51:41] citizenship has been properly registered. Because birth tours have a very strong incentive to stay as long [1:51:50] enough to ensure that the whole reason they came has been accomplished. Birth certificates address may [1:51:57] be of little use in estimating birth tourism, but based on a comparison of Census Bureau data and birth records, [1:52:04] the center estimated that there were 20 to 26,000 birth tourists each year. Unfortunately, our estimate is a bit [1:52:11] dated and we can't update it because of changes in the way the data is being reported. Nevertheless, there were likely [1:52:18] two to three hundred thousand children born to birth tourists in the last decade. So it's not a trivial [1:52:25] number. Now, relative to the total number of births in the United States, it's still a small share, but the [1:52:30] absolute number appears to be quite significant. Why is this a problem? Well, a survey found that 25 percent [1:52:37] of Americans believe that children of shorts should not get citizenship. The strong sense that birth tourism is [1:52:44] wrong, I think, stems from the idea that American citizenship, one of the most valuable things in the [1:52:49] world, should not be attained under false pretenses. Further, the whole point of our legal immigration [1:52:56] system is that the American people are deciding, through their elected representatives and their laws, [1:53:01] who will become their fellow Americans. Birth tourism bypasses the will of the people and gives out [1:53:08] American citizenship to those who gain the system. Now, birth tourism raises questions, too, I think, [1:53:16] about assimilation and even national security. Even the children of more run-of-the-mill illegal immigrants [1:53:24] typically grow up in the United States, so they're much more likely to develop some attachment to the [1:53:28] country. But because the children of birth tourists grow up outside of the United States, are much less [1:53:35] likely to develop this attachment. And yes, as American citizens, of course, though, they can still enter the [1:53:41] United States any time they went, travel to and from the country without any prior screening. They can attend [1:53:47] college, they can work at almost any job, even within the federal government, and they can access public [1:53:52] benefits immediately. Further, only citizens can obtain a security clearance, so there is potentially a national [1:53:59] security dimension to birth tourism. The children of birth tourists can also sponsor their parents for a green card [1:54:05] once they reach adulthood, rewarding the very people who committed the visa fraud. So what can we do about [1:54:12] this? First, birth tourists can be prosecuted under 18 U.S.C., which criminalizes fraud and misuse of visa [1:54:20] application and other documents. Getting convictions in this area would be a major deterrent, particularly of [1:54:27] the birth tourist industry, those who run these birthing houses. Another issue to think about is, at present, consular [1:54:35] officers generally cannot even ask a tourist applicant if they are pregnant and intends to come to the [1:54:42] United States to have a child. Every tourist must be asked this directly. If they lie, it makes prosecution [1:54:51] a whole lot easier, because right now they could say, well, I didn't intend for this to happen. But if you [1:54:55] ask them if you're coming here to have a child and they say no, but they're using a birth tourist center [1:55:01] and they have a child, once they, as soon as they get here, it makes the case easier. As the president's recent [1:55:07] executive order stated, citizenship is not a commodity to be acquired through calculated [1:55:13] exploitation and invasion of immigration laws. Policy changes coupled with prosecutions can greatly reduce [1:55:21] this problem. Thank you, Dr. Camarota. We're now going to move on to the question and answer portion of this hearing. [1:55:32] You know, we'll start off. I'll now recognize myself for five minutes for the purpose of asking [1:55:39] questions. And first of all, I want to begin by thanking the witnesses once again for for taking the [1:55:44] time to be here. Dr. Lawrence, you run a medical business, is that correct? Press the talk button, [1:55:53] please, so I can hear you. You hear me? You run a medical business, is that correct? I am. Yes, I am. You do. [1:56:04] Is it true that your business, Have My Baby in Miami, marketed itself to and facilitated the entry of [1:56:10] foreign nationals seeking to come to the United States to give birth and obtain birthright citizenship [1:56:15] for their children? On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question [1:56:21] on the grounds that are truthful. The answer may tend to incriminate me. And I invoke my rights under [1:56:26] the Fifth Amendment to the United States. Okay. Witness invokes his Fifth Amendment right. I've got your [1:56:32] website right here that you'd spent quite a bit of time marketing, which suggests that you were, [1:56:38] in fact, facilitating the entry of foreign nationals so that they could give birth and [1:56:43] obtain citizenship for their children. This is Have My Baby in Miami's website. On the front page of it, [1:56:51] the last line of the commentary states, Now the dream of having a child in the United States is closer [1:56:58] to reality than you ever imagined. Is this your website, Dr. Lawrence? On the advice of counsel, [1:57:07] I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful answer may incriminate me. [1:57:12] And I invoke the rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States. Okay. The website continues. [1:57:19] There's a step-by-step guide preparing for the trip to the United States. It's got information on [1:57:26] arrival, waiting for the delivery, the birth, preparing for return and returning back home to [1:57:35] the person's home country. It's even got a section on legal topics. Do you recognize this? [1:57:41] On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the ground that a [1:57:48] truthful answer may tend to incriminate me. And I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment [1:57:53] to the United States. Dr. Lawrence, how many babies have you birthed in the United States to [1:57:59] the parents of foreign nationals? On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline [1:58:06] to answer the questions on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me. And I invoke [1:58:12] my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States. Your website says over 2,000 deliveries of [1:58:19] international patients so far. So I think we can assume it's over 2,000. The website continues. It's [1:58:26] got a section for documentation, health insurance advising foreign nationals on how to obtain [1:58:32] international health insurance housing in the United States even. It's quite thorough. Dr. Lawrence, [1:58:44] this website isn't public anymore. What motivated you to take down or at least substantially modify [1:58:52] this website for Have My Baby in Miami after we first wrote to you about birth tourism in May? [1:58:59] On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful [1:59:05] answer may incriminate me. And I invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States [1:59:10] Constitution. Have you ever facilitated the childbirth in America for a member of Trin de [1:59:33] Aragua, MS-13, or any other narco-terrorist organization? On the advice of counsel, I respectfully [1:59:40] decline to answer the question on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me. And I [1:59:44] invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Dr. Lawrence, are you [1:59:49] declining to answer any question that I've put you today on the basis that you believe that an answer [1:59:55] would incriminate you? On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the [2:00:01] grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me. Dr. Lawrence- And I invoke my rights under the [2:00:07] Fifth Amendment to the United States. Is it your intention to answer any question put to you by the [2:00:12] committee today with an assertion of your Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination? [2:00:17] Can you please repeat that question? Is it your intention to answer any question put to you today [2:00:22] by the committee with an assertion of your Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination? Speak to [2:00:30] counsel, please. No. No? No, sir. Okay. On the advice of- Yes. Sir, this is- All right. Let the record reflect that Dr. [2:00:48] Lorenz has asserted his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. To all questions posed to him today, [2:00:54] Dr. Lorenz, considering your invocation of the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, [2:00:59] pursuant to the terms of the subpoena issued for your appearance at this hearing, I have no choice but [2:01:03] to excuse you from the witness panel. You're hereby excused from the witness panel, and we will continue [2:01:08] the hearing. And with that, my time is up, and I'd like to yield five minutes to Mr. Menifee from Texas for [2:01:18] the purpose of asking questions. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. President Trump has sent ICE into American [2:01:24] communities to terrorize Americans and immigrants, and they have harmed people and even killed people. [2:01:31] People who were never charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. Some of them were American [2:01:37] citizens, but all of them were folks who were deserving of dignity. Renee Good, Alex Preddy, Lorenzo [2:01:44] Salgado Araujo, who was killed in my hometown of Houston, and many more. The Trump administration's [2:01:50] immigration campaign has been brutal and inhumane. And Dr. Camerota, you own that outcome. [2:01:58] Trump's right hand on immigration policy, Stephen Miller, has been the architect of this administration's [2:02:03] brutality. And he has called you, quote, a top expert on immigration policy. And you're so proud of [2:02:10] that that you put it in your bio. They've used your research to craft policy, to craft laws. You've [2:02:16] testified before Congress more than two dozen times on this subject. So you own this administration's [2:02:22] immigration record as much as anybody sitting outside of the West Wing. We're here today to talk [2:02:27] about undocumented women giving birth in this country. So let's talk about what's happening to [2:02:32] pregnant women already in ICE custody. Dr. Camerota, I've got an NBC News article right here from late last [2:02:40] year entitled, Pregnant Women Describe Miscarrying and Bleeding Out While in ICE Custody Advocates Say. Are you [2:02:46] familiar with this article? It says that over a dozen women told advocates and their attorneys that they [2:02:55] suffered mistreatment and neglect while they were pregnant and held in immigration custody. It even [2:03:00] describes a situation where a woman had lost so much blood that she had to get a transfusion while in [2:03:06] immigration custody. It describes women saying they were shackled and restrained, some even while actively [2:03:14] miscarrying. Dr. Camerota, you've written a ton about upping immigration enforcement to protect [2:03:20] national security, to help American workers, to save taxpayers money. So my question to you is very [2:03:27] direct. Shackling a pregnant woman who poses no violent threat and no security risks does nothing [2:03:35] to protect national security. Agree or disagree? I'm not sure I understand your question, but it sounds [2:03:41] like what you're trying to ask me is should... Well, my question was very straightforward. I'm not interested in [2:03:46] what you think I'm trying to ask. I'm interested in what I'm actually asking you. Let me repeat the [2:03:50] question to you. It's very direct. Shackling a pregnant woman who poses no violent threat and no [2:03:56] threat to national security does nothing to protect our national security. Agree or disagree? I don't [2:04:02] know nothing about this case. I'm sorry. I can't comment on it. But if this woman was abused, I'm 100% against [2:04:07] that. Shackling a pregnant woman who does nothing to help American workers. Shackling a pregnant woman does [2:04:13] nothing to help American workers. Agree or disagree? Again, if this woman was abused, the [2:04:19] party should be prosecuted. I've never advocated any such thing. So if ICE agents shackled a pregnant woman [2:04:25] who is in ICE detention and she was not a threat to their physical safety, those ICE agents should be [2:04:30] prosecuted. That's your testimony here today before Congress. I don't know anything about this incident. [2:04:34] You're asking me to say, but I do believe this woman should be treated humanely and should never be abused. And if [2:04:41] anyone does, they should be prosecuted. Any law enforcement. I certainly would say that. [2:04:46] I'm glad that you agree with me on that. Shackling a pregnant woman does nothing to save taxpayers [2:04:50] money. Agree or disagree? Again, I know nothing about this case. But if this woman is abused, [2:04:56] people should be, you know, the people who did it should be held accountable. I think we both agree on [2:05:02] that. Well, you follow immigration policy pretty closely. Are you familiar with the murder of Lorenzo [2:05:07] Sagado Araujo out of Houston, Texas? I can't say I know enough about it to really comment. I have read a [2:05:12] couple of news stories. But as we all know, it takes a long time for investigations to be complete. [2:05:17] But the president's right hand on immigration has cited you as a top expert on immigration policy. And [2:05:24] you're not familiar with ICE's murder of Lorenzo Sagado Araujo out of Houston, Texas. This has been [2:05:30] national news for months. You're not familiar with that. I have read some news stories about it. Does that make [2:05:34] me an expert on this man's? I didn't ask you if you were an expert. I asked you if you were familiar with it. [2:05:39] You listen to my questions and you answer them. Are you familiar with it? Yes or no? [2:05:43] I read a few news stories on it. I don't know that I could make a whole lot of comments. But again, [2:05:48] if this man was shot incorrectly, people involved should be held accountable. I just don't have any [2:05:54] information that would allow me to say what happened. Just so we're clear, the gentleman who [2:06:00] Stephen Miller has designated as a top expert on immigration policy, your testimony here today is that [2:06:06] if ICE agents improperly shot and killed Lorenzo Sagado Araujo, they should be prosecuted. They [2:06:11] should be held accountable. Absolutely. One hundred percent. Thank you. I yield back. [2:06:17] Thank you. The gentleman yields. I now recognize Chairman Comer for five minutes for the purpose of [2:06:22] asking questions. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I appreciate you holding this hearing. Dr. Camarota, [2:06:32] is the objective of birth tourism to make money or is it more sinister to change the demographics and [2:06:40] political atmosphere? Well, it's obviously to make money for those who run the birth houses, [2:06:45] the birthing centers, that kind of thing. Obviously, they're in it for the money. They're getting paid [2:06:49] a fee. But for the individual, I don't think there's some kind of big conspiratorial reason. I think the [2:06:55] reason they do it is they don't trust their own governments. And it's understandable. Russia and China [2:07:01] have very arbitrary governments. And they're hoping that their children might have this as an out. [2:07:05] They could come to America, you know, land of the free. That's what they want. And their children [2:07:09] will be able to sponsor them as adults. There's no evidence that this is some kind of effort by these [2:07:17] foreign countries to change the demography of the United States. Rather, it's an individual act, [2:07:23] illegal, engaged in fraud, and abuse of our citizenship laws. But nonetheless, that's their motive. [2:07:30] It's selfish. It's their own. It definitely is an abuse. [2:07:34] That's for sure. Of the citizenship laws. How do people in other countries find out about birth [2:07:41] tourism? Well, the fact is that the fact that the United States has, you know, one of the most, [2:07:45] maybe not the most, but one of the most liberal or permissive citizenship laws is known. So, [2:07:51] and of course, these facilities that arrange for the births, they advertise a lot. They're advertising. [2:07:56] How are they advertising? Are they advertising on social media? Are they advertising in newspapers? [2:08:01] Are local? Everything I've seen. It's social media, [2:08:04] the web, maybe newspapers, but a whole lot of word of mouth, too. [2:08:08] So, let's go to when the births happen in the United States. I would assume that many of the [2:08:16] births happen without a method of payment, without private health insurance. Who pays for that? What's [2:08:25] the cost to the hospitals or the taxpayers? I mean, somebody has to pay. I've had three children. [2:08:32] It's very expensive. It is. My wife had three children. So, but what's, who pays for this? [2:08:39] Yeah, sometimes it is the taxpayers. Remember, hospitals don't turn anyone away [2:08:42] who need urgent care or emergency care. Would it be paid for by Medicaid? [2:08:46] Yeah, there's the disproportionate share hospital program, and there might be charity at that [2:08:52] hospital. Sometimes there could be self-pay, but the taxpayer is often getting stuck with the bill [2:08:57] based on anecdotal evidence. But I don't know that we have any systematic evidence. [2:09:01] So, just on the childbirth part, these people that are promoting birth tourism, that are profiting [2:09:11] from birth tourism, they're advertising in foreign countries for those illegals to come to the United [2:09:17] States, and when they have their childbirth, the Medicaid program, our Medicaid program that we're [2:09:23] trying to fight on this committee, the Republicans, not the Democrats, they don't care about waste [2:09:28] fraud abuse. We're trying to prevent Medicaid payments to people that aren't citizens, at the [2:09:37] very least, among other things, among fraudsters and everything else. They're advertising, people [2:09:42] come over here, the hospitals get them signed up on Medicaid, and it's paid for. So that's a huge cost [2:09:48] to the American taxpayer. How many of these would you estimate are happening annually? [2:09:54] It's certainly going to run into the millions of dollars, but it doesn't take much to do that. [2:09:58] If we're right, and there's 20 to 26,000 births, and even 10,000 of them are paid for by the taxpayer, [2:10:05] however that's done, then you're talking tens of millions of dollars, because each birth is, [2:10:10] as you rightly point out, expensive. So this is another problem of birth tourism. [2:10:15] So what happens once they're born? Do they go back to the country, or are they in the United States [2:10:20] for good? Well, no, I think the concept of birth tourism is the way Clarence Thomas defined it. [2:10:26] It's somebody who doesn't stay, right? They don't have a valid visa to stay, so they'd have to [2:10:31] join the illegal population, but I don't think that's the goal. The goal is to return home [2:10:35] with their citizen child. With a citizen child, with a citizen child. [2:10:38] That child then can come back to the United States as an adult. That child, when they reach adulthood, [2:10:43] could sponsor the parents for green cards, but they typically would raise that title. [2:10:47] So if in China, for example, if Chinese people come to the United States, they have their [2:10:53] children here, the American taxpayer pays for it, they go back to China, do we have any knowledge of [2:11:00] what China's doing? Are they trying to develop those children to come back to the United States [2:11:05] to be bad actors? We know the CCP does things like this. Is this what the Chinese Communist Party's [2:11:11] doing with birth tourism? Yeah, I can't say. I don't know what they're doing. It's possible, though. [2:11:16] It's certainly possible, because remember, that individual, unlike a normal, you know, [2:11:20] green card holder or anyone else, is not vetted. They can arrive in the United States, travel to and [2:11:25] from the United States without limit as an American citizen. Is the CCP using that? I don't know. [2:11:33] I believe they are. Mr. Chairman, I appreciate you having this hearing. I yield back. [2:11:37] Mr. Chairman, I have a UC request, please. Without objection. Thank you, sir. I ask unanimous consent [2:11:45] to enter into the record a 2020 blog from David Beer, current director of immigration, the title, [2:11:51] which I would like to complete, the laughable security justification for cracking down on birth [2:11:57] tourism. Without objection. Thank you. And I now recognize Ms. Presley for five minutes for the [2:12:04] purpose of asking questions. What was that? My apologies. Excuse me. I now recognize Mr. Walkinshaw for [2:12:13] five minutes. Mr. Chairman. Let's be clear. We're not here today because the majority is opposed to [2:12:18] so-called birth tourism, which, as we've heard, is illegal, wrong and rare. We're not even here [2:12:24] because they're opposed to birthright citizenship or illegal immigration. We're here because the [2:12:29] MAGA majority in this Congress is opposed to immigration and immigrants. All persons born or [2:12:35] naturalized in the United States are citizens of the United States. President Trump and his ever loyal [2:12:43] followers on this task force don't like that part of the Constitution. They want to twist it so they [2:12:48] can ramp up their brutal campaign against immigrants so they can maybe turn citizenship into a favor [2:12:54] granted or withheld based on your race, where you're from, who you know, or maybe who you vote for. [2:13:00] It wasn't always this way in the Republican Party. President Reagan in his farewell address said, [2:13:07] I've spoken of the shining city all my political life, a tall, proud city teeming with people of [2:13:14] all kinds living in harmony and peace. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the [2:13:21] doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get there. A Republican president who recognized [2:13:27] that an immigrant from Ireland, China, Guatemala or elsewhere is just as American as someone like me, [2:13:34] whose family arrived in Virginia before a nation was founded. A Republican president confident [2:13:41] in America's strength and ability to incorporate and integrate, as he said, people of all kinds. [2:13:48] Today, our president makes decisions from weakness, is overwhelmed by events and falls asleep in the [2:13:54] Oval Office. It's pathetic. The majority star witness today, Dr. Camerata, is here not because he's opposed [2:14:02] to so-called birth tourism or illegal immigration. He opposes immigration, the legal kind. His economic [2:14:09] claims surrounding immigration have been debunked by economists and experts on the left, the right, [2:14:15] and the center. So let's be clear on what this hearing is about. It's about ramping up the brutal, [2:14:21] reckless, mass deportation machine that's terrorizing Americans and dragging down our economy. And I wish [2:14:28] they were, but they are not deporting the worst of the worst. They've diverted federal law enforcement [2:14:34] from fighting sex trafficking, child trafficking, gun trafficking, and fentanyl trafficking. [2:14:40] They're actually deporting Americans. Brian Jose Morales Garcia, born in Denver, [2:14:46] worked construction in Texas, expecting his first child. Federal immigration agents pulled him over [2:14:53] because he had tinted windows. They didn't believe him when he said he was born here. They deported him [2:14:58] to Mexico, an American citizen. It took his family, his lawyers, months fighting to bring him back. [2:15:08] If this task force actually cared about constitutional rights, we'd be talking about the rights this [2:15:14] administration is stripping from American citizens like Brian Jose Morales Garcia. We could talk about [2:15:22] ICE agents killing Americans in our streets, like Renee Good, Alex Preddy, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. We could [2:15:33] talk about ICE agents entering an American citizen's home with military-grade weapons and no judicial warrant [2:15:42] to detain a law-abiding husband and father. And for my colleagues who describe themselves as conservatives, [2:15:51] there is nothing conservative about an armed agent of the federal government breaking down your door [2:15:57] while your family is sleeping without a warrant signed by a judge. That is the opposite of small government. [2:16:04] That is as big as government gets, and yet there is silence from this task force. We could talk about the [2:16:12] detention and deporting of American citizens, the children being detained as we speak, the pregnant women [2:16:22] being detained and deported as we speak. Those are abuses of institutional power, and they are worthy of this task force [2:16:34] and this committee's exploration. And yet here we are talking about an action that is already illegal and is exceedingly rare, [2:16:48] while we ignore the violations of constitutional rights that take place on a daily basis in every [2:16:55] community across this country. I yield back. [2:16:57] The gentleman yields. I now recognize Mr. Cloud from Texas for five minutes for the purpose of asking questions. [2:17:04] Thank you, Mr. Chairman. And I'm struck by the fact that Mr. Walkenshaw seems to know so much about [2:17:10] what we're thinking. My wife is a naturalized citizen, and I was there at her citizenship ceremony [2:17:17] watching many shed tears, as they said, the Pledge of Allegiance for the first time. Yesterday, I actually [2:17:22] wrote a letter to a citizen in my district who's now proud to call himself a citizen. He had written me [2:17:27] just to let him let me know that he had become a naturalized citizen. Those are things we celebrate. [2:17:36] There's a right way to come to this country. There's a wrong way to come to this country. And there's a [2:17:43] kind of idea coming from the other side of the aisle that just because something is illegal, [2:17:47] we shouldn't discuss it. Yet entering this country is illegal. And we saw the Biden administration [2:17:54] completely open our borders and allow 10 million people into our country illegally. So it's worth [2:18:02] discussing. You're the only one left, so we'll talk to you. Could you talk about the fact, [2:18:14] when it comes to birth tourism, I guess the thing that concerns me most is the countries that seem to [2:18:20] be taking advantage of it most seem to be the countries that don't like us the most. What country's [2:18:27] most taking advantage of this? Yeah, as far as we can tell, but remember, we don't have great data [2:18:32] on this. It does look like, as you might guess, Russia and China. It looks like Turkey is big on it. [2:18:38] There's some from Brazil, a smattering of other countries, some in Europe, some outside of Europe, [2:18:44] some Latin American countries. But you're right, it looks like a base, but this is only based on news [2:18:50] stories. And we all know news stories can be inaccurate or give a false impression. It looks like China and [2:18:56] Russia and based on criminal processes. As best as we can tell. Yeah, as best we can tell. [2:19:00] Russia and China. China is definitely an adversary to this nation, has worked in many ways to undermine [2:19:06] us. We could spend a whole half an hour or hours actually on that. I am concerned too. So what they're [2:19:15] doing is they're basically taking a B-1 or a B-2 visa and they're coming over here and having a child and [2:19:21] then going home and raising that child in their, you know, my neighborhood communist school. That [2:19:27] child's raised, maybe comes here later, works in one of the research institutions, and then through [2:19:33] chain migration, they can then apply for their parents to become citizens as well. Is that roughly? [2:19:40] Yeah, that's essentially true. The child can come back and maybe sponsor the parents. And I think the [2:19:45] primary motive is at the individual level. There might be communist agents or something, but that's, [2:19:51] the main motive is they don't trust their own regime to confiscate their wealth, to treat them. And [2:19:55] they want to have this possible escape valve, if not for themselves, their children. So that's [2:20:02] generally what's going on, but with a cascading series of consequences for the United States. [2:20:08] One of the things that concerns me in this is the vast number of B-1 and B-2 visas we allow [2:20:13] China to obtain. Do you know roughly what that number is? [2:20:16] No, I don't know off the, obviously it's in the hundreds of thousands or more, and there's people, [2:20:21] and remember you, those visas are good for more than one visit, and they're good for more than one [2:20:26] year. So the same person keeps coming back. But we do get over a million visitors from China, [2:20:31] that's for sure. Right. I think it's roughly 650,000 a year, and they're usually good for 10 years, [2:20:38] which means at any moment, six or seven million Chinese nationals can have tourist visas here, [2:20:46] right. And then they can come and stay. Okay. And so doctors like Dr. Lorenz come, [2:20:52] and I noticed on his website that the chairman noticed he has since revised and taken some of [2:20:57] the details down. But, you know, we can still research and find some of those things. He required [2:21:02] payment up front. A lot of the hospitals, there was a Senate report that said, you know, sometimes they [2:21:08] would pay, you know, the doctor in advance, but the hospitals and taxpayers left footing the rest of the [2:21:14] bill. Could you speak more to that? Yeah, sir. So remember, all hospitals are required to treat [2:21:18] anybody who shows up in their emergency room who needs urgent or emergency care, and a pregnant woman [2:21:23] about to have a baby falls under that category. The hospital is not going to say no. I don't think [2:21:28] we're the kind of society that ever would want to say no. But that has consequences for taxpayers, [2:21:34] because the vast majority of people, as far as we can tell, don't pay for it. And so the hospital ends [2:21:40] up eating at least the hospital innate costs, which run into the millions when you consider the number [2:21:46] of people who are engaged in birth tourism. So that is one of the consequences of this problem. [2:21:53] You mentioned this a little bit, too, but I think a lot of American citizens don't realize how [2:21:59] favorable, in a sense, or how lax our immigration system is, and especially on this. Like, if a U.S. [2:22:05] mother went to a different country, would this be the norm across the world and other countries? [2:22:10] Well, in general, most countries don't have the same extremely permissive automatic citizenship, [2:22:15] right? Now, some countries have very extensive public health care, but they would expect you to [2:22:20] pay. But, you know, they do have similar rules about emergency care. It's just that the scale is not the [2:22:27] same. But the citizen apps. Yeah, right. So this is a serious problem here, because it happens so often. [2:22:33] And we have such permissive rules. So for us, it's a really big deal. Other countries, much smaller. [2:22:41] I think my time's up, Chairman. Thank you. Mr. Chairman, I have a U.C. You're recognized. [2:22:47] Thank you, sir. I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record of May, [2:22:51] 2026 article from the week entitled Birth Tourism, a key part of Trump's anti-immigration platform. [2:22:59] Without objection. Thank you. I now recognize Ms. Presley this time for [2:23:04] five minutes for the purpose of asking questions. Thank you. Today's hearing is yet another assault on [2:23:11] our democracy and our Constitution. Now, Trump tried to dismantle the 14th Amendment [2:23:15] through executive order, but even the conservatives on the Supreme Court said [2:23:19] that it was wrong, that he was wrong. And now Republicans in Congress are trying to do exactly [2:23:24] that. They aren't just attacking birthright citizenship. They're attacking black Americans, [2:23:29] my ancestors who built this country, but were denied the fruits of their labor. And black folks would [2:23:34] still be denied citizenship, but for the 14th Amendment. They are attacking women. As co-chair [2:23:41] of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus, it's abundantly clear to me the Republicans want to continue [2:23:45] surveying women's bodies and end the freedom of movement for pregnant people. They are attacking [2:23:50] immigrants. Changing birthright citizenship is the next step from their Project 2025 playbook after the [2:23:56] mass deportations of people who have been legally working, living, contributing to the United States for [2:24:02] decades. The chair of this task force, Congressman Gill, recently introduced a bill that would label [2:24:07] undocumented immigrants and others as quote-unquote invaders. That word is not merely inflammatory. [2:24:14] That's more than a dog whistle. Hell, that's a bullhorn. It's more than just a wink and a nod to what the [2:24:20] bill's true motivation is. Dr. Camerata, yes or no, are you familiar with the Great Replacement Theory? [2:24:27] I certainly read an article. I read an article or two about it, so I don't know exactly. [2:24:37] Well, let me elucidate you and the public watching at home because it's foundational to what's [2:24:44] happening here. The Great Replacement Theory is a conspiracy that falsely claims that white people [2:24:49] are being deliberately replaced by immigrants and people of color. It is a far-right, white supremacist [2:24:54] ideology that far too many Republicans believe is real. In fact, in 2017, in Charlottesville, [2:25:01] at the Unite the Right rally, when people were brandishing those tiki torches, that's what they [2:25:07] were saying, you will not replace us. So it often relies on invasion rhetoric to advance that narrative [2:25:14] by portraying black and brown families as an invading force rather than as human beings and people [2:25:20] that are entitled to dignity. A parent crossing a border becomes the enemy. A pregnant woman becomes a [2:25:25] threat. A child born in the United States becomes proof of a takeover. The consequences of this [2:25:31] rhetoric have been deadly. In 2018, a gunman who embraced anti-Semitic replacement rhetoric murdered [2:25:38] 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. In 2019, the El Paso shooter killed [2:25:44] 23 people and described his attack as a response to a supposed Hispanic invasion of Texas. In 2022, [2:25:52] in Buffalo, New York, a shooter motivated by replacement ideology killed 10 black Americans while they [2:25:59] shopped for groceries. Republicans have the choice. You could focus on healing and uniting our communities, [2:26:08] but you were hell-bent on division and hate. As my colleague made clear, we all understand that [2:26:17] birth tourism is illegal. It is wrong and it is rare. That is not really what today's hearing is about. [2:26:24] What this is about is a strategy to codify the great replacement theory in law, to further codify white [2:26:32] supremacy and to weaponize the entire federal government in pursuance of it. And that is the fact [2:26:41] of the matter. And I refuse to let that happen. I don't believe any of those things. So it has nothing to [2:26:49] do with me. But I understand your concerns. I think they're wrong. I mean, I think that any kind of [2:26:55] hateful or racist ideology has no place in the immigration debate. And I've never used any of [2:27:03] those phrases, and I never will. Mr. Chairman, I have a UC. You're recognized. Thank you, sir. [2:27:14] I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record a March 2026 De Los article. And it's entitled, [2:27:21] and I would like to finish the title, Attack on Birthright Citizenship Highlights Trump's White [2:27:26] Nationalist Ambitions. Without objection. All right. I now recognize for five minutes, [2:27:35] for the purpose of asking questions, Mr. Biggs from Arizona. Thanks, Mr. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. [2:27:42] I appreciate that. So I just have to respond to a couple of things from the other side. [2:27:51] The Mr. Beyer that was just referenced by one of my colleagues across the aisle [2:27:56] is a totally open borders libertarian. He wants no restriction on legal or illegal immigration. [2:28:06] How do I know? He's testified before me at least five times. He's sitting right next door in judiciary. [2:28:12] I was just there before I came here. And also, if you think that we don't care about victims, [2:28:21] I think you've got to step next door and listen to the victims [2:28:25] of crimes perpetuated by illegal aliens who are testifying next door. That might give you some [2:28:31] insight that maybe you don't know about. And I did get a kick out of someone talking as if they [2:28:37] understand what went on during the border during the open border era of Joe Biden, living in Arizona, [2:28:45] growing up in southern Arizona, and been all over the border countless times. [2:28:53] If you went into the Yuma, Arizona hospital, the only hospital in that vicinity, if you went into the [2:29:02] maternity ward and you talked to the head of the maternity ward and you talked to the head of the [2:29:09] hospital, and there were times that since they only had 10 bays, 10 beds, there were times during the Biden [2:29:17] era many, many times, if not the majority of times, where every one of those beds was taken up by an illegal [2:29:27] alien who came to deliver their baby in the United States. And when local moms came in to deliver their [2:29:36] baby, they had to go to Phoenix or San Diego four hours away. And if it was an emergency, they even had [2:29:44] cardiac incidents where they had to air evac people to Phoenix and San Diego, not because of the acuteness [2:29:53] of the case, simply because there was no place to treat them. That's, that's what was going on. And the [2:30:01] birth tourism that we keep hearing the Democrats say is so rare. I'm, I have a UC, Mr. Chairman, [2:30:12] entitled birth tourism group arrested. They were actively promoting us tourists without objection. [2:30:21] Thank you. So you had a Texas hospital that was advertising in Mexico in Spanish for moms to come [2:30:33] to the South Texas hospital so that they could have their baby born there with the incentive being [2:30:41] citizenship in the United States. A Turkish net Turkish national pled guilty to conspiracy to [2:30:52] commit health care and wire fraud in a birth tourism scheme. He was bringing in pregnant Turkish women [2:31:01] who fraudulently entered the US using tourist and business visas to give birth so that their children [2:31:06] would obtain birthright citizenship and medical benefits. That's an article, Mr. Chairman. [2:31:12] Without objection. Another one. Women in birth tourism ring had 119 babies on Long Island. Six people [2:31:23] were charged in federal court with bilking Medicaid of $2.1 million and taking $750,000. [2:31:29] Without objection. Here's another one. Manchurian generation ballot flood. More than a million Chinese [2:31:37] with US citizenship could vote in 2030 elections. Without objection. Here's another. How China's [2:31:45] supercharged birth tourism and scammed American citizenship for up to 1.5 million babies. Without [2:31:52] objection. Another. U.S. territory turned tropical maternity ward has produced thousands of American [2:32:00] babies for parents living in China. Without objection. That's specifically talking about a thousand [2:32:06] companies offering birth tourism to China headquartered in the northern Mariana Islands. Without objection. [2:32:16] Another one. Their 21 kids were taken by the state. Now they're fighting for custody of even more [2:32:22] surrogate born babies. Without objection. The Chinese billionaires having dozens of U.S. born babies [2:32:28] via surrogate. Without objection. The new face of birth tourism, Chinese nationals, American surrogates, [2:32:34] and birthright citizenship. Without objection. Birth tourism's next evolution commissioned [2:32:40] citizenship. Without objection. Mr. Chairman, my time has expired. I thank you for holding this hearing. [2:32:47] This is a real issue. It must be addressed. And I appreciate your willingness to take on the slings [2:32:54] and arrows that come from the other side. Mr. Chairman, I have two UC requests, please. You're recognized. [2:32:58] Thank you, sir. I ask unanimous consent to adjourn to the record. September 2024, an NBC News article [2:33:05] entitled A Dramatic Rise in Pregnant Women Dying in Texas After Abortion Ban. My second UC, sir, is [2:33:12] Without objection. Thank you. I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record. A March 2026 [2:33:19] Common Cause article entitled Seven Ways the Trump Administration is Hurting Women. Without objection. [2:33:26] I now recognize Mr. Min for five minutes. Thank you, Chair Gill, Ranking Member Simon for holding this [2:33:31] hearing. I want to begin again by noting that this task force, which is explicitly charged with [2:33:36] defending constitutional rights and exposing institutional abuses, a really important set [2:33:41] of responsibilities, is doing none of the above. We have ICE agents right now randomly stopping and [2:33:46] detaining people based on their race or ethnic identity, assaulting citizens in our streets. [2:33:51] The president and his family are allegedly selling pardons to those who donate to his campaign or his [2:33:56] family's business. The DOJ and other federal agencies have been weaponized to go after Trump's [2:34:00] critics. And just a few days ago, Trump directed the FCC to go after a reporter, Kristen Welker, [2:34:06] who had the audacity to point out that Trump's record of endorsing candidates this year has had [2:34:11] mixed results. The American people, the people I talk to, are outraged by all this. And they're [2:34:15] outraged that Congress has done nothing, literally nothing to stop it. And it's frankly quite shameful [2:34:21] that this task force on defending constitutional rights and exposing institutional abuses has refused [2:34:26] to do its job, refused to engage in any hearings on any of these topics. Shameful. But going back to [2:34:32] the Constitution, Dr. Camarota, I have a series of yes-no questions for you. I know you're not a lawyer, [2:34:37] but do you believe that when members of Congress or military service members take an oath to support [2:34:42] and defend the Constitution, that means that we support and defend the Constitution even if we disagree [2:34:47] with parts of it or don't like parts of it? I support the Constitution, yes. That was not the question. Do you think that we, [2:34:52] taking that oath, are sworn to defend and support parts of the Constitution we may not agree with [2:34:56] or don't like? We all are, yeah, absolutely. And so, for example, if I personally disagree that the [2:35:00] Third Amendment's prohibition on quartering soldiers in people's homes was wrong, I would still have to [2:35:06] support and defend the Third Amendment because it's part of the Constitution. I could try to amend it, [2:35:10] but until an amendment was in place, it was ratified, I have a sworn duty to defend and support it. [2:35:15] So we're talking about citizenship today. Are you aware of the Constitution saying anything about this topic? [2:35:19] Yes, no? It doesn't speak of birth tourism. It talks about citizenship. Section one of the 14th [2:35:26] Amendment says that all persons born or naturalized in the United States are subject to the jurisdiction [2:35:32] and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States [2:35:35] and of the state wherein they reside. It's very clear language. The text has been part of the [2:35:39] Constitution for over 150 years now and since it was ratified in 1868. You may not like it. You may [2:35:46] think that we should change it, but that is the law of the land and you don't have to take my word for [2:35:50] it. The Supreme Court shortly after that amendment was ratified, the Supreme Court in a case called [2:35:55] U.S. v. Wong Kim Arc made clear that essentially anyone born in the United States automatically becomes [2:36:00] a citizen. Notwithstanding this language, however, President Trump tried to overturn the 14th Amendment [2:36:06] on his first day in office, issuing Executive Order 14160, which would deny citizenships to certain [2:36:12] U.S. born mothers who were here either with a temporary visa or no documentation. After the Supreme Court [2:36:18] held that this was unconstitutional, Trump again tried to overturn parts of the Fourth Amendment [2:36:23] by issuing two additional executive orders purporting to deny citizenship to certain categories of [2:36:28] people born here. Now a quick yes-no question. Do you think that the president, any president, [2:36:32] should be able to unilaterally ignore or amend the Constitution by executive order? [2:36:36] The Supreme Court has decided this question. [2:36:37] That was my question. All people born in the United States. [2:36:39] I'll reclaim my time. Do you think the Constitution allows us to revoke people's citizenship [2:36:43] because we don't like what they have to say? No, I don't think that makes sense. [2:36:47] Well, the chair of this task force, Brandon Gill, tried to revoke the citizenship of one of our [2:36:50] congressional colleagues last year, circulating a petition to try to pressure the Trump administration [2:36:55] to deport Representative Ilhan Omar because he did not agree with some of her comments and her [2:37:00] actions. I would just note that's the opposite of supporting and defending the Constitution. [2:37:04] Some might call it sedition. And this is all very deeply personal to me because I am myself a [2:37:09] birthright citizen. My parents were here in America on student visas when I was born. They had not [2:37:14] become naturalized until after I was born. And if Donald Trump and Brandon Gill had had their way, [2:37:19] maybe my parents would have been denied their visas. Maybe they would have been deported. [2:37:22] Maybe my citizenship would have been denied. And maybe if I say something today or beyond that [2:37:27] Brandon Gill doesn't like, he'll try to revoke my citizenship. But thankfully, [2:37:31] Brandon Gill does not get to decide who is a citizen because that question is clearly laid out in [2:37:36] the Constitution of the United States. And while we're apparently living through a moment of doublespeak, [2:37:40] where a task force meant to, quote, defend constitutional rights is shared by a person [2:37:44] with no regard for the Constitution, with an agenda to try to take away constitutional rights, [2:37:50] I and my colleagues here will continue to fight as long as we're members of Congress to ensure that [2:37:54] every American is ensured the due process and fair representation that the 14th Amendment also [2:37:59] guarantees. And with that, I yield back. The gentleman yields back. Don't worry, I won't try to revoke [2:38:06] your citizenship, Mr. Mann. I now recognize for five minutes, Mr. Crane. Thank you, Mr. Chairman, [2:38:15] for holding this hearing today on birthright citizenship and birthright tourism industry. [2:38:22] I want to start by talking about a comment from my colleague, Ms. Presley, [2:38:27] who brought up the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally, trying to use this as a reason, [2:38:34] white supremacy is a reason that we're holding this hearing today. And I'd like to enter a couple [2:38:40] articles into the record. Number one, DOJ charges Southern Poverty Law Center with fraud over secret [2:38:46] funding of extremist groups. Number two, federal grand jury charges Southern Poverty lawsuit with [2:38:52] for wire fraud, false statements and conspiracy to commit money laundering. It's pretty obviously, [2:38:58] you know, pretty obvious here that the Southern Poverty Law Center paid white supremacists to show up at [2:39:03] that rally paid an informant to plan it and post racist content online and coordinate transportation. [2:39:12] I just thought that would be pertinent to the discussion here today. I want to talk about the [2:39:18] Democrat Socialists of America who are becoming more and more powerful in the United States. They [2:39:24] provide an interesting contrast to the concerns being discussed at this hearing. Their own platform calls [2:39:30] for abolishing ICE, ending immigration detention, and deportations, granting amnesty regardless of [2:39:37] status and ending visa caps and quotas. You can find that all on their website. In fact, one of their [2:39:44] rising stars, Ms. Deanna Moreno, the New York City Assembly member who took over Zoran Mondami's seat, [2:39:53] said the following. Please play the video. [2:39:55] I was not born in this country as a formerly undocumented immigrant, as someone who just got [2:40:05] her citizenship in 2016 for a while. I was a positive socialist. Part of the work that I did, [2:40:12] and the reason I moved to Queens was because I saw the political power that undocumented workers and [2:40:18] undocumented people in Queens were building. So I know deeply and personally and firsthand that you [2:40:24] don't have to have papers to have power, right? As you could see, she said she spent years as a [2:40:32] closeted socialist. She saw political power that undocumented people were wielding and that you [2:40:38] don't have to have papers to have power. And I think that's a lot of what we are concerned about [2:40:43] in this hearing today. Dr. Camarota, you talked about the fact that these birthright citizenships [2:40:51] you know that are issued were you know foreign nationals bring come into the country to have a [2:40:56] baby, get a birth certificate. The difference between them and illegal aliens who have a baby [2:41:02] is that they go back to their country and then they are raised in in their foreign country. Is that [2:41:07] correct sir? Yes, obviously the number of illegal immigrants who have child children here and stay [2:41:13] is we can estimate that number. I got that 300,000 a year. So you were I think you testified that [2:41:20] according to your research you estimated between 20 and 25,000 of these you know birthright babies [2:41:27] being born annually, is that correct? It's 20 to 26,000 for the for the birth tourists, yes. And [2:41:34] these children that then don't grow up in the United States you know they can they can then run for [2:41:40] public office, is that correct? They can do all the things that any other citizen does. Yeah and one of the [2:41:46] leading countries that you mentioned that are having citizens come over here and have birthright babies [2:41:52] is uh communist China, is that correct? Yes, Russia and China appear to be the leaders. How could that [2:41:59] how could that end up being a problem, sir? Right, so that there are many potential issues. Remember if [2:42:06] you're specifically focused on national security, remember only a citizen can get a national security [2:42:12] and clearance. All of these individuals however who've grown up in a foreign country are not vetted before [2:42:18] they arrive could conceivably get a national security clearance because they're American citizens and [2:42:23] that is a concern. You know it's interesting because my colleagues on the left they always try and make [2:42:28] this about white supremacy or saying that republicans you know hate immigrants and they know that that's [2:42:34] the furthest thing from the truth. Actually we love immigrants we we love we love the legal immigrants the [2:42:41] folks that come here and go through the process and do it the right way. Mr. Cloud talked about his wife [2:42:47] being a naturalized citizen who came here the right way. That's what we want to see because we don't want to see [2:42:53] these countries many of them communists or Marxists or socialists come into the country have babies here [2:43:00] raise these kids outside the U.S. and then these kids can come back here run for office bring their [2:43:06] parents in as well and it's just one more loophole that gets exploited in our immigration system. [2:43:11] Thank you Mr. Chairman I yield back. Thank you Mr. Crane. I now recognize ranking member Simon for five minutes. [2:43:22] Thank you Mr. Chairman and before I begin my remarks it's come to my attention that our witnesses lied [2:43:31] under oath. He talked about not having any idea about the great replacement theory but in August 2025 an article [2:43:44] entitled there's no such thing as replacement theory it's a clear it's a replacement fact authored by his [2:43:53] boss at the center for immigration studies. So I'm saddened that this hearing didn't have a witness [2:44:06] that tells the truth in fact we know that our witness has been debunked by conservative scholars [2:44:13] for his creative use of statistics. I never said I never heard of it. I didn't ask you to speak sir. [2:44:18] Thank you. But you're not telling the truth. No no no we don't do we're not doing that today. [2:44:23] I didn't ask you to speak and if you read the rules of committee you have to be asked to speak and you [2:44:31] were not. So I want to continue and reclaim my time. You know Chairman Comer used subpoena power [2:44:37] to compel one of the witnesses to show up today at this task force. The power of the subpoena [2:44:45] is a mighty one and it comes with great responsibility. Unfortunately this hearing takes [2:44:51] and makes a mockery of that subpoena power. It's clear that Republican committee leadership does not [2:45:01] take that responsibility seriously. Committee Democrats have repeatedly requested that our [2:45:07] chairman of this committee Chairman Comer compel now Attorney General Todd Blanche to testify before the [2:45:15] committee about his prominent role his prominent role in the Trump administration's Epstein file [2:45:22] cover-up. Ranking member Garcia sent a letter to Chairman Comer on August the 20th of 2026 about how [2:45:29] urgent his testimony is. But there's no indication that the committee Republicans have any interest in [2:45:36] compelling him to appear. It has been over a month since Chairman Comer publicly stated that he wanted him to [2:45:43] testify as soon as the confirmation was complete. This misuse of subpoena power and authority shows just who [2:45:52] the Republicans really care about holding accountable. I think that the American people have heard this [2:45:59] message loud and clear and I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record sir. Sure. A June 2nd 2026 article [2:46:09] from the Hill entitled Oversight Democrats push Comer to subpoena Blanche Patel in Epstein's file probe. [2:46:17] Without objection. Now I want to turn back to chairman's recently introduced bill which claims [2:46:22] that immigration has quote downstream negative consequences for many aspects of American life. [2:46:29] It blames immigrants for housing prices and low wage and crime. But Mr. Chairman, [2:46:36] these facts are wrong because President Trump is ripping families apart and communities apart and [2:46:42] deporting people at an unprecedented rate. But everyday costs are going up for working families. You might [2:46:50] think that seeing immigrants at Walmart is downstream negative consequence. But we know it's not. The [2:46:57] reason for affordability and its crisis is that our president, not a working family who happened to be born [2:47:06] in this country or abroad, a president is rising prices on everyday Americans and your state alone in each [2:47:14] Texas family has had to spend an additional $329 on housing costs since the president took office. Each family [2:47:23] in your district, Mr. Chairman, has had to spend an additional $623 on gas since Trump started this illegal war [2:47:32] with Iran. That's $195 million in increased cost for your constituents alone. Across the country, [2:47:42] each American family has had to pay more than $3,800 in increased cost while President Trump has waged his [2:47:51] war on immigrants. On top of that, we know that immigrants commit fewer crimes than native born Americans. [2:47:57] We know that. The stats are clear. I'm sure our witness would agree. Meanwhile, Trump is deploying [2:48:05] undisciplined and untrained agents to terrorize our communities. Let's talk more about this. [2:48:15] My Republican colleagues like to talk about the sanctity of life. This administration's policies [2:48:22] are intent on causing harm and cruelty to pregnant women and children in the name of mass deportation. [2:48:33] Postpartum women have been deported, separated from their babies, infants against their wishes. [2:48:39] Pregnant women, pregnant women have been detained and abused. Sanctity of life. And I'll yield back. [2:48:48] Thank you, Ranking Member Simon. Dr. Camarota, do you want to respond to any of that? [2:48:53] Yeah, sure. I don't think she's being truthful here. I never said I never heard of it. I just said, [2:48:58] I don't know much about it. I never use that terminology. I never make that argument. Now, [2:49:02] it sounds like she'd like to have my colleague, Mark Recorian, you know, testify on that topic. [2:49:07] It's not my topic. I don't talk about it. I've never I've never made that argument or any adjacent [2:49:12] arguments. But so that is the truth, what I'm saying. And I think it's important to set the [2:49:17] record straight. I it's not nothing to do with me. Thank you, Dr. Camarota. And I now recognize for [2:49:24] five minutes for the purpose of asking questions. Miss Luna. Thank you, Chairman. Just real quick on [2:49:32] updates specifically pertaining to Jeffrey Epstein. I know that that's been brought up a lot, [2:49:36] actually at this task force or at this hearing. But I do believe that there might be a criminal [2:49:42] referral being made for prosecution on Leslie Groff for perjury. So I'm sorry that you were berated [2:49:47] like that. I don't have the understanding that you had perjured yourself. I did have some questions [2:49:52] for you, though. Your written testimony puts a figure at around 20,000 to 26,000 birth tourists a year, [2:49:58] totaling around 200 to 300,000 of children that were born via birth tourism over the last decade. [2:50:04] I want the American people to understand specifically the national security threat [2:50:09] that this poses. It's to my understanding that under the Biden administration, Chinese nationals [2:50:13] were allowed to enter the Mariana Islands visas, visa free for 14 days. For anyone who's given birth [2:50:19] in 14 days, that's enough time to literally check into a hotel, deliver a baby, recover well enough to [2:50:24] travel and then to go back home. And a couple years ago, federal agents had searched 37 maternity [2:50:31] hotels across Southern California, specifically catering to Chinese nationals that were coming here [2:50:37] for the purpose of birth tourism. And just last year in 2025, a search warrant was executed on an [2:50:44] operation tied to Gu Yonchuan, a senior member of the Chinese Communist Party, which turned up 15 [2:50:51] children linked to multi-state embryo networks, all results of birth tourism. Many of these kids were [2:50:58] taken back and raised in China, withholding U.S. citizenship, and then all while retaining the [2:51:02] right to vote in our elections once they turn 18. I just have a question, if you can elaborate on the [2:51:08] national security threat that this poses, having people essentially being born here, but not culturally [2:51:15] American, and then brought back to a country of origin. [2:51:18] Yeah, and this is a distinction between a more typical illegal immigrant whose child grows up in the [2:51:23] United States and has likely to develop some attachment identification with the United States. [2:51:27] These are individuals who purposely want to go back, and now that child is raised entirely in that [2:51:33] culture. And, you know, in a country like Russia or China that's pretty hostile to the United States, [2:51:38] it's very likely they're inculcated with some very anti-American views. Yet that individual with no real [2:51:45] contact to the United States is allowed to come into the United States, travel to and from the United States, [2:51:50] work at any job, even in the federal government, do everything from vote and receive federal benefits, [2:51:56] and finally that child is eligible for national security clearance. Unlike, say, a legal immigrant [2:52:02] who's foreign-born who has to be vetted before they came, then they have to live here for a while, [2:52:07] then they have to have a background check when they get their citizenship, then that person is also [2:52:11] eligible for national security. The person born to a birth tourism bypasses all of that and can [2:52:18] immediately apply for national security. Now, they'll still be investigated and maybe will turn [2:52:23] up something, but since they grew up their whole life in the foreign country, it's not that likely [2:52:29] that we're going to know if they have any concerning ties. Is it your opinion that the founding fathers [2:52:34] or authors of our amendments intended to cover a free-for-service arrangement between Chinese nationals [2:52:41] and maternity concierge visions in the 14th amendment? I mean, look, obviously they never [2:52:45] anticipated everything from plane travel to this kind of birth tourism, so it's very hard to say what [2:52:53] they thought, but no one at the time was thinking in these terms. This is an amendment designed to guarantee, [2:53:00] rightly, the citizenship of previous slaves, of former slaves. That's what it was for. [2:53:05] Do you at all find it ironic, yes or no, that you have Democrats today encouraging birth [2:53:12] of foreign nationals, yet in the same perspective and ideology encouraging the abortion of American [2:53:19] born children? I don't know that I can comment on that. I mean, I'm just interested in your opinion, [2:53:24] because I find it extremely hypocritical. You know, that touches on the issue of abortion, [2:53:30] and my organization has no position on abortion. Okay, thank you very much. I yield my time. [2:53:36] I now recognize Mr. McCormick for five minutes for the purpose of asking questions. [2:53:43] Thank you, Mr. Chair. I appreciate you allowing me to be here today. [2:53:46] I think it's interesting to watch what the other side of the aisle is doing to confound this [2:53:52] questioning and to distract us from the real question at hand, which is the value of citizenship. [2:53:58] I think everyone here should be able to agree that the American citizenship is one of the greatest [2:54:02] privileges in the world. It shouldn't be brought as a product, exploited through a loophole or handed [2:54:10] out to foreign nationals who fly here solely to give birth and then return home. The average citizen [2:54:16] would always agree on that. Every year, roughly 33,000 children are born here in the United States [2:54:23] to birth tourists, many whose parents are coached by businesses that teach how to deceive immigration [2:54:30] officials as basically a business. That's what they do for a living. That is not a legal gray area. [2:54:37] It's fraud. It's by design, and we cannot tolerate it any longer. That's why I joined Senator Marshall [2:54:45] Blackburn to introduce HR 9919, the Banned Birth Tourism Act of 2026 to deport and deny entry to any [2:54:54] foreign nationals seeking to enter the United States and engage in birth tourism. [2:54:59] Dr., you had a lot of experience in this area. Do you think there's something better we can do? Do you [2:55:06] think this is a good step in the right direction? What can we do to stop this, which the average [2:55:09] American would be appalled by if they were actually informed on what's going on around the world? [2:55:13] Yeah, so part of it is prosecution, right? You go after the birth centers. You go after the people who do [2:55:18] it. If you can get any kind of conviction, at least the parents would be forever barred from coming into [2:55:22] the United States. But as I point out in my testimony, the very regulation given to consular officers, [2:55:28] where they can't ask any questions in this area is, I think, also problematic. That can be changed. [2:55:34] That's just a regulation. So we could create a situation where people are reminded when they [2:55:39] apply for a visa that they're not allowed to do this, and if they do do it, they will have [2:55:45] explicitly lied. It is illegal. You can be prosecuted, but there's some gray area, and you might be able to [2:55:51] well, I didn't intend on this. But if you're asked if you're pregnant, if you're asked if you intend to do this, [2:55:56] and you say no and no, and I'm not going to do it, and then you do it, it makes the case much easier. [2:56:01] But our current consular regulations, based on the questions they ask, make that more difficult. [2:56:07] So some changes there would be, I think, one of the places to look, in addition for law enforcement [2:56:14] here to take it seriously and go after the birthing centers and the people who do it. [2:56:18] And this worries me as far as chain migration goes, especially since you're already deceiving the [2:56:22] government. You're doing it intentionally, and of course, that's another way to get over here to [2:56:25] the United States. If you're marked as somebody who's basically federally identified as a breaker [2:56:31] of the law, you're not going to be able to come here as a citizen through chain migration, hopefully, [2:56:37] as a result of this law. One of the things I found interesting, the United States became a birthright [2:56:44] citizenship nation in 1868 when we ratified the 14th Amendment and its citizenship clause. In other words, [2:56:51] birthright citizenship isn't new, but it seems like birthright tourism as a practice is something [2:56:58] new. Would you think that this is a new phenomenon or something that's been going on for a long time? [2:57:03] About when do you think it started? Well, I'm sure it's always gone on a little bit, right? [2:57:07] But no, it's only with the advent of cheap travel. It's only with the advent of, you know, the affordability [2:57:15] of that. I think that it's probably only something in the last 20, 30 years, as far as we can tell. [2:57:21] We don't really hear of it in the past. It doesn't mean it never went on, but it really is a more of [2:57:26] a modern phenomenon, as far as we can tell. But, you know, we're not – you can't say that with [2:57:30] certainty. Certainly nobody can defend, from an average standpoint of just common sense, the fact [2:57:35] that tens of thousands of people fly into distant territories of the United States, have babies, and [2:57:42] fly back to their country with no tourism that's outside of birthright, and no actual interaction with [2:57:48] the public, no interaction with spending money other than in a business model for a hospital [2:57:55] system that's literally propagating this and advertising this in many cases, which should [2:57:58] be outlawed in my opinion. But once again, exposing the fact – I'm going to reiterate this fact – 33,000 [2:58:05] people per year from foreign countries that are identified as adversaries, at least competitors of [2:58:12] ourselves, allowed to come in here through a loophole that should be closed. I think the average American would [2:58:17] be absolutely appalled. This is our most valuable commodity. As citizens of the United States, [2:58:23] we should be protecting that citizenship beyond measure and with that a yield. Thank you. [2:58:28] I have a UC, sir. You're recognized. Thank you, sir. I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record [2:58:34] a March 2026 Vox article entitled, The Ugly History Behind Trump's Birthright Citizenship Case [2:58:41] in the Supreme Court. Without objection. All right. Thank you. And I think we're now on to our final set of [2:58:49] questions. So I now recognize for five minutes for the purpose of asking questions, Mr. Jack from Georgia. [2:58:56] Well, thank you very much, Mr. Chairman, and thank you for convening this task force today. [2:59:01] I'd like to start, if I could, with the topic I know you know much about, B-2 visas. And specifically, [2:59:08] I want to ask – I mean, as we both know, B-2 visas are permit temporary travel for tourism, [2:59:14] vacation, family visits, medical treatment, and they are the non-immigrant visa category most frequently [2:59:19] associated with birth tourism. Would you say that's an accurate statement? B-1 and B-2, yeah. [2:59:24] And with the U.S. coming off of a very successful World Cup while preparing to host the 2028 Olympics, [2:59:30] B-2 visa applications are expected to surge in the coming years. And I'm curious, [2:59:34] are there any realistic safeguards to differentiate genuine tourists and individuals who wish to [2:59:39] participate in birth tourism as we discussed today? Well, as we discussed, it's against the law. [2:59:45] But the way in which visas are administered at the consular level make it more difficult to weed [2:59:51] people out and to prosecute them after the fact. But that could change. So we're not stuck with [2:59:56] this issue. It's not hopeless. We can do some things on the ground where the rubber meets the road, [3:00:01] and we should. What are some of the things we can do? Well, you have consular officers that they can [3:00:06] ask about pregnancy. They can ask about your intent to have a child in the United States. And we can adopt a [3:00:11] rule that you don't get to come to the United States if you're pregnant for a tourist visa. We're not [3:00:15] talking about a green card. We're talking about someone's going to come here and live. We're [3:00:18] talking about someone who says, look, I'm coming temporarily to your country. And we say, okay, [3:00:22] well, after you have the kids, you could come. And we could ask those questions. And consular [3:00:27] officers can do that. Even, you know, when a person arrives at a port of entry, we can ask those [3:00:33] questions and exclude those who do that. Many countries do things like that. It's perfectly reasonable. [3:00:38] Thank you very much. I'm curious today, we talked about, and obviously we did not hear from the [3:00:43] witness that we should have heard from because of his approach to this hearing. But I'm curious, [3:00:48] that was regarding Florida. Which other states are you seeing this concept of tourism most [3:00:54] exploited or at least attempted to be exploited? Yeah, that's a good question. As far as the [3:00:57] stories coming out for the media, it looks like Florida, Texas, California, and New York. They seem to [3:01:03] be where the stories are concentrated. It doesn't necessarily mean it probably happens other places, [3:01:09] but big international airports. And that's one of the factors. [3:01:14] Well, one of the things that we're talking a lot about, obviously, in 60 days, we're going to have [3:01:17] an election and we can't campaign from here. But I am curious, a lot of people talk about [3:01:23] really what we see the Democrats looking to do if they themselves are successful this November. And I'm [3:01:30] curious, could you describe for us as a committee what the Trump administration has successfully [3:01:35] achieved with respect to limiting birth tourism and what that could look like if Democrats were [3:01:39] in control of Congress? Yeah, well, I mean, they they've tried to look at visas. And what they've [3:01:45] also tried to do is encourage prosecution of those under the law for visa fraud, wire fraud, [3:01:54] those kinds of crimes. So the hope is that this could really serve as a deterrent. And at the same time, [3:02:00] they've really stepped up trying to go after the birthing houses or the birth tourist centers. So [3:02:05] these are some of the areas where they're trying to do. I don't know. I have not been able to determine [3:02:10] what they're doing with regard to instructions to consular officers. But clearly, that is an [3:02:15] important area that would also buttress these efforts. What would you say if Democrats were in [3:02:20] control of this Congress? What do you think would happen with respect to this issue? I mean, you know, [3:02:25] that's like I'm not here to make a partisan judgment on Democrats. I'm sorry. Obviously, [3:02:31] it's in my experience, I have run into a lot of Democrats who are concerned about this problem. [3:02:35] Let me frame the question a different way. Yeah. Under the Biden administration, [3:02:38] how did that differ? How did they approach pro tourism versus this administration? [3:02:42] There was some prosecutions just wasn't a priority. It's not wasn't seen as the kind of [3:02:47] important national issue that it is by the Trump administration. I think that's a fair characterization. [3:02:52] You've spoken a lot about things that we can do. Just curious as you wrap up your or we wrap up our [3:02:57] line of questioning today. What are some closing ideas you have for this committee to it seems like [3:03:01] consular officer directions definitely one of your ideas. Curious what else you may have for us as we [3:03:06] close out. And some of those same things can be done at poor entry by Border Patrol. So that would be [3:03:11] asking questions and things like that. Other things in addition to prosecutions. I mean, you could look at, [3:03:18] you know, broader ranging things, you know, adopting rules for people to retain their citizenship. [3:03:24] It's unclear whether that could have much effect. But the point is, so there might be some stuff [3:03:28] in that area. But the reality is, as other members have pointed out, the nature of the 14th amendment [3:03:35] is that they get citizenship. I'm not disputing their citizens. And that's the whole reason we're here. [3:03:40] So if you have a very permissive citizenship constitution, then you have to tightly control [3:03:46] it. You have to take that reality seriously. And we can in this area do that. But it would require [3:03:52] coordinated effort between law enforcement and DHS and State Department. And I think we could greatly [3:03:59] curtail it. Could we eliminate it? No. Could we get rid of much of it? Yes. [3:04:04] Thank you very much. I yield back, Mr. Chairman. [3:04:05] I have a UC request, sir. [3:04:07] You're recognized. [3:04:07] Thank you, sir. I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record a March, [3:04:11] 2026 Brennan Center analysis entitled birthright citizenship shouldn't be up for debate. [3:04:19] Without objection? [3:04:20] With that and without objection, all members have five legislative days within which to submit [3:04:25] materials and additional written questions for the witnesses, which will be forwarded to the witnesses. [3:04:30] If there's no further business without objection, the task force stands adjourned. [3:04:34] All right. So we go from Capitol Hill. We see the White House there. It's 1203 Eastern time. Thanks [3:04:52] again for watching. We have a number of other events happening today.
