Pete Hegseth EMBARRASSES HIMSELF in Congressional Testimony!

[0:00] So, friends, in his congressional testimony, Pete Hegseth completely embarrassed himself [0:08] with laughably transparent, inconsistent statements about the need to have launched a war against [0:19] Iran. [0:20] Or, as our friends to the north, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation put it in their [0:28] headline, Hegseth accused of lying to the American public about war in Iran during tense congressional [0:37] hearing. [0:39] Let's talk about that, because justice matters. [0:58] Hey all, Glenn Kirshner here. [1:01] So friends, Donald Trump's incompetent, imbecilic cabinet officials are a bunch of clowns, dangerous [1:11] clowns, and they are endangering us all, Republicans, Democrats, independents, people with no political [1:22] interest or affiliation. [1:24] They are endangering us all. [1:27] Watch Pete Hegseth make an absolute fool of himself in this clip from his recent congressional [1:36] testimony, which I'll play in a minute. [1:39] But first, let's start with some straightforward, clear-eyed reporting from the CBC, the Canadian [1:48] Broadcasting Corporation, that is, Canada's national public broadcaster, headline, Hegseth [1:58] accused of lying to the American public about war in Iran during tense congressional hearing. [2:05] And that article reads in part, in one tense exchange, Hegseth stunned Democratic Representative [2:13] Adam Smith by asserting that Iran's nuclear facilities were obliterated in a 2025 attack [2:22] by the U.S., prompting Smith to question the Trump administration's reasoning for starting [2:28] the Iran war less than a year later. [2:32] This quote from Representative Smith, quote, we had to start this war, you just said, 60 [2:39] days ago, because the nuclear weapon was an imminent threat, said Smith, the ranking Democrat [2:48] on the committee, quote, now you're saying that it was completely obliterated? [2:55] Hegseth responded by saying that Iran had not given up their nuclear ambitions and still [3:04] had thousands of missiles. [3:07] Smith said the war left us at exactly the same place we were before. [3:13] The article continues. [3:15] Democrats accused Hegseth of mismanaging the war and lying to Americans about the reasons [3:22] for the conflict and said rising gas prices are now threatening the pocketbooks of millions [3:29] of people in the U.S. [3:31] Quote, Secretary Hegseth, you have been lying to the American public about this war from day [3:37] one, and so has the president, said Representative John Garamendi, who called the war a geopolitical [3:45] calamity, a strategic blunder, and a self-inflicted wound to America. [3:52] Hegseth blasted Garamendi's remarks, saying, quote, who are you cheering for here? [3:59] He asked the lawmaker. [4:01] Your hatred for President Trump blinds you to the success of the war. [4:07] You know, friends, in reality, most of Hegseth's congressional testimony could be characterized [4:14] as deflect, distract, misdirect, and then attack. [4:23] But friends, please watch this very short clip of Representative Adam Smith exposing Hegseth's [4:32] juvenile inconsistencies, with apologies to juveniles, and then we'll talk about it on [4:41] the other side. [4:43] Okay. [4:44] We haven't gotten there yet. [4:45] Well, their nuclear facilities have been obliterated. [4:48] They're underground. [4:49] They're buried. [4:50] And we're watching them 24-7. [4:51] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. [4:52] So we know where any nuclear material might be. [4:53] We're claiming my time for just a quick second here. [4:55] We're watching it. [4:56] We had to start this war, you just said, 60 days ago, because the nuclear weapon was an [5:03] imminent threat. [5:05] Now you're saying that it was completely obliterated? [5:07] They had not given up their nuclear ambitions, and they had a conventional shield of thousands of [5:12] So Operation Midnight Hammer accomplished nothing of substance. [5:16] It left us at exactly the same place we were before. [5:20] So much so that we had to start a war. [5:21] Their facilities were bombed and obliterated. [5:23] Their ambitions continued. [5:26] You know, friends, here's just a little bit of what I would ask Pete Hegseth. [5:33] Mr. Secretary, I'm going to ask you about some basic dictionary definitions of some words [5:41] to which we will then apply the principle of consistency. [5:46] You said that it wasn't that long ago, back in 2025, [5:53] that the U.S. had totally obliterated Iran's nuclear capabilities. [5:59] But then you also said that we had to go to war against Iran 60 days ago [6:08] because Iran's nuclear threat to the United States was imminent, your word. [6:17] Okay, let's start with imminent. [6:21] What does imminent mean? [6:24] Something that is about to happen very close in time. [6:28] Something that is likely to occur at any moment. [6:32] And then you backtracked. [6:35] You said, well, we completely obliterated their nuclear capabilities. [6:41] But they still had ambitions to develop a nuclear program, to develop a nuclear weapon. [6:54] Okay, Mr. Secretary, let's have a look at the definition of the word ambitions. [7:02] A desire to do something. [7:04] A long-term, earnest aim to try to accomplish something. [7:11] So if you have aspirations and ambitions to someday in the future try to develop a nuclear weapon, [7:24] the threat is not imminent. [7:30] So what you did was lie to the American people about the need to go to war against Iran [7:40] because there was no imminent threat by your own admission, totally obliterated their nuclear program. [7:51] So really the only thing you accomplished was getting our service members injured and killed, [8:04] getting innocent Iranians, including an entire school full of young girls, killed, [8:12] creating global economic havoc on the energy front, [8:21] making it so that Americans can't afford to fill their gas tanks. [8:28] That's all you've accomplished. [8:35] I yield back my time. [8:39] But friends, the point of light here amidst all this deadly darkness [8:44] is that people are turning against Trump and his corrupt, reckless, dangerous, and deadly administration. [8:56] They are turning. [8:59] Republicans are turning. [9:01] People are peeling away from the MAGA movement. [9:06] Independents are running to the Democrats, fleeing from Trump and company. [9:14] And Donald Trump's poll numbers are almost as low as approval ratings can go. [9:25] And all of that will drive people to the polls for the midterms. [9:32] Yes, in numbers too big to rig and too real to steal. [9:37] Try though they might to rig and steal, they will fail. [9:42] And justice will win. [9:49] Because justice matters.
