Obama Talks Trump's Alleged "Obsession" With Him On Podcast — The View

[0:10] No, All the Smoke. [0:12] And he was asked about still casting [0:14] a huge shadow over the White House. [0:16] Take a look. [0:17] The leader of this current administration [0:19] is still very fascinated with you and your family, [0:21] constantly bringing you guys up. [0:23] And you've been out of office nearly 10 years now. [0:25] How do you continue to keep your cool [0:27] and take the high road, so to speak? [0:29] Because we asked Michelle, and Michelle said [0:30] we don't have to take the high road no more. [0:32] We just have to be strategic in our approach. [1:42] No, he wants to be adored, like, and he wants to be loved. [1:46] And if he can't get it, because he can't in how he operates [1:49] in his world and life, he will fear you into doing it. [1:58] And I think that bothers him that the Obamas naturally get [2:02] that love, whether you agree to him in policy or not. [2:04] Because they've earned it. [2:05] Melissa, you're not an Obama policy person, [2:06] but you respect him and see the appeal of the Obamas. [2:10] They are unifying. [2:12] They are the old school diplomacy, civility, [2:15] used to be high road, all the things. [2:16] It's called class. [2:17] It's called class. [2:18] It's all class, but I think that's what bothers him. [2:20] One thing that they noted in the book that Maggie Haberman [2:23] and Jonathan Swan did is there's a in regime change. [2:26] They speak of an assistant, Natalie Harp. [2:28] Yes. [2:29] That just goes around leaving, really just encouraging [2:32] love notes of positivity to Donald Trump. [2:34] That's her one job, to go around saying how much she means [2:37] to the, how much I love you, how much. [2:39] When you hire someone to literally, [2:42] personally hype you on post-it notes, [2:45] we have reached a new, whoa. [2:48] I mean, my husband does it for me, honestly. [2:50] I mean, clearly I didn't marry up high enough. [2:53] I do not get those love notes, [2:54] but it does speak to the, aside from the comedy of it all, [2:58] it does speak to his deeply hungry need to be loved. [3:02] And I just think that that is what really irks him. [3:06] And Michelle doesn't go, when he tries to get her hair, [3:08] Michelle doesn't go like that. [3:10] Yeah. [3:11] Melania's like, stop it. [3:12] There was also a lot of video coming out of the Obama [3:14] library opening and seeing President George Bush, [3:17] Laura Bush, seeing the Clintons, the Bidens, [3:19] all there together. [3:20] I love this relationship that George Bush [3:22] and Michelle Obama have. [3:23] Very, thank you. [3:24] People who on policy totally disagree, [3:26] but they have a genuine friendship. [3:27] I like, teared up watching videos from that [3:29] because it felt like a different era. [3:30] It feels like a different lifetime ago, [3:32] that they could set aside their differences and be like, [3:34] but we love each other as people. [3:36] We respect the hell out of each other as people. [3:37] And they were Americans. [3:38] And Trump wasn't even invited. [3:39] They love this country. [3:40] And Trump wasn't even invited to the Obama presidency. [3:42] No. [3:43] No, no, no, no. [3:44] It's sad. [3:47] Let me tell you why I think it's sad. [3:48] I think I told you guys a while ago, [3:51] there's a wonderful book, [3:53] and I'm gonna paraphrase the name of it, [3:56] but it's called The Club. [3:57] And it's about the presidents. [4:32] Like closing the Strait of Hormuz. [4:34] Obama could have told him [4:36] that Iran was going to do that [4:37] if he was part of the club. [4:38] Can I just say one more way, wait, let him split it up. [4:39] Can I just real quick, I'll say, [4:40] Mike Pence used to talk to Joe Biden regularly [4:42] as a former VP and Al Gore, different parties, [4:45] but they covered the same issues, [4:46] and they were confidants to him. [4:48] I just want to say, I loved that at one point [4:51] Michelle Obama was saying, [4:52] when they go low, we go high. [4:54] I am very happy that we're now on the same page. [4:56] When they go low, we go to the Earth's crust. [4:58] Okay, we've got a small, like an ant, [5:01] and we meet their energy, and I'm just, [5:03] I'm really happy that Michelle and I are.
