[00:00:00] Speaker 1: I wouldn't even bother asking LJNF Jason Voorhees is dead because apparently they're not telling. Here's your look at the Nekatoys Friday the 13th, the game Jason Voorhees reissue figure. It all takes place out in Camp Crystal Lake, the pleasant little camp where happy children of all ages go to spend a fun-filled summer. But summer will be different. The fun will have to wait. Jason's decided to come to camp and Terror is the only game they'll be playing. Don't think that hiding in a cabin or staying adrift in a canoe will help you keep you safe. The only way to survive this summer is to challenge Jason face-to-face and destroy him. Don't worry, that hasn't been done before. There's always a first time. Well, not always. Originally, I didn't have plans to make this review today because me and my friends were going out for a barbecue. Then I got a message saying that me and my friends are apparently dead. What am I going to do with all this potato salad? Needless though to say, we're going to be looking now at the reissue of NES Jason. Now, this is technically the third time I suppose we've gotten this figure. Have they made enough improvements to warrant picking this guy up? I actually did grab this from NECA's direct site. Unfortunately, though, I ordered this in like late April and it arrived early June. So I had to wait a little while and that's what brought us to the dance a little tad later. As for how tall the figure is going to stand, tape measure is telling us that the figure of Jason stands seven inches in height, working then roughly out to be a figure that's 17 and a half centimeters tall. In a second, I'll bring in the boxes that go with these figures. But we did first get an NES Jason way back in 2013 as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. This figure did benefit from having glow-in-the-dark masks, hands, and footwear, and also his weapons as well that he wielded were all glow-in-the-dark as well. We then waited a few years after that. In 2015, they did release the figure again. They added some additional lines, as you can see already in his top and in his bottoms. They then painted the mask in an opaque plastic or opaque color. And they also did the same for the hands and boots. The benefit then of also the Jason that got reissued in 2015 was that they also included the floating head of Pamela Voorhees. If you were lucky, though, enough to get the 2015 Jason Voorhees, one thing it did also have as well was a sound clip. Granted, though, my sound clip has died over the years of me constantly opening and closing. I don't know if there is really a way to go in there and change the batteries, but you can see, though, it is dated lot number from 2015. Put that box right over there. I'll bring in also the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive from 2013. Box-wise, it does look like somewhat almost exactly the same. The only thing that's different, though, is they did also add, of course, the little convention exclusive sticker there on the top, but it didn't have the sound clip effect piece. The reissue, though, dated then now 2025, does bring back the sound clip. And luckily, though, for all you guys and myself, the sound clip is still intact. This will, of course, play the sound clip, the theme from the video game of Friday the 13th. Again, I'm not sure, though, if there's a way to change the battery. I would think you probably would have to rip apart the box to actually get in there and change what I'm guessing to be a button cell battery. Box-wise, though, on the back of the boxes, by the way, you can see that, well, this one is probably the closest one to that, the 2015. It's a little bit lighter of a green here on this side. Of course, everything that's borderlining the boxes here on the sides looks like it's also a lighter green, whereas this one would have been a blue. The San Diego Comic-Con had actually more of the closer colors to this one, but again, it only advertises just the fact that there's the glow-in-the-dark weapons and the fact that the mask does the same. They're arriving to shore now are Jason Voorhees' accessories. The figure does include an axe. Now, I'm going to bring in the axe here that came and included the convention exclusive. Mold-wise, I don't think there's anything different other than just the fact that this original one was more of a translucent kind of plastic, whereas now, of course, this one here is painted. This is the one that we got here from 2015. This would probably be the closer way to compare them because both of them also, as you can see, that have the head of the axe are both painted. Although, the one in the middle here has a more lighter brown. The one from 2015 has a darker handle, and I guess like this one, they're all kind of really a different brown. They've yet to really make all the browns exactly the same. Same kind of rule applies also when we look at the machete. Now, just to bring in the machete from the convention exclusive, again, you've got the translucent plastic. Of course, looking at the handles there as well. They look okay. And let's also, for this, bring in the 2015. Now, I noticed that the 2015, I see it even more now with the machete, is that the 2015 seems a little bit different. A little bit more of a darker white. This now seems a much more brighter white. Flipped around the blades. Probably not a good idea to hold really a machete by its blade, but just to show you guys the difference of the handles. Yeah, again, like a much more brighter chestnut brown here for the 2015. The other one had, again, a brown for the convention exclusive. And the one meeting in the middle, that's the one that we're now getting for the 2025 release. The thing, unfortunately, about this is Jason Voorhees has still yet to have two gripping hands. Every figure that we've gotten for the Nintendo tie-in toy has always had a gestured hand on one side, a gripping on the other. So, unfortunately, the figure is only going to ever be able to hold one accessory at a time. Just to show you, let's grab the axe. Slide the axe into his hand. Works the way that a gripping hand should be. And then, of course, we'll do the exact same with the machete. Machete slides in there, too. Pretty good. I mean, it stays enough in there. I don't have to worry that it's going to be falling out of his hand. But, you know, again, like, unfortunately, he will always have, no matter what Jason you get from the old Nintendo days, he'll always have a gripping or gestured hand. So, there's not really much that you can really do over here, other than maybe Jason asking for change. Asking for some of that potato salad that I made so much of. I know I did. I made so much potato salad. Anyways, let's get the accessories out of his hand. We'll put the figure down here for a second. He does, of course, now include the floating head of Pamela. She can be detached. I guess if you had strings, for example, you can have just her dangling, as opposed to attaching her onto the clear acrylic display stand. Just to bring in here, this is the original one, or the one from 2015. So, difference-wise, there's actually a lot more different here for Pamela. You can see that she has kind of more of a darker purple for her hair. But she has much more of a teal color for the face. She's a little bit more lighter now for the newer one. I would be argued, I'm sure, if I was to say there was anything different at all to the mold. They look exactly the same. Maybe like this one, like the details are a little bit more smoother. But again, we're dealing with a mold anyways that's, what, over 10 years old. So, they really haven't changed it at all. It doesn't really look at all like they changed anything to display stands either. They look to be exactly the same. Again, the convention version of Jason Voorhees never had that. Let's move that all out of the way, get a closer look now at Jason. Now, again, I've already brought in, this was the convention exclusive version of him. So, he had the translucent blue mask. First time we got this figure. I still like this figure. I mean, there's something to be said for him being painted, at least for the mask. Having translucency for the mask, it really doesn't look like something that Jason would necessarily have done. Of course, he also has translucency here in the hands and also in his feet as well. The figure has held up pretty good. He's still loose, unfortunately, though, in the tops of his legs. But, again, like the molding-wise, it's basically just pulled, I think, from Friday the 13th Part 3, Jason's mold. Including, of course, the face sculpt that's underneath. Let's take the mask off right now. There's what the mask looks like. Again, translucent, kind of a bluish clear plastic. And that's his face underneath. And you can also see, too, like he doesn't have the gash there on the top of his head. Face is fine. No issues really there at all. And we'll just put the figure down here for a second. Reach then off to the side. We'll grab in the one from 2015. Now, the 2015, I almost feel like I like the coloring more for the mask. But I like the shape mask better for the 2025 issue. So, again, just to show you guys the differences there. It's definitely more refined. More finessed on the newer one. You can make out better that there's the holes. The eye sockets look a little clearer. And, actually, even like the mask itself is a little more tapered. It's not as wide. This was a much wider-looking mask. But it doesn't... I don't think it looks as finished. It doesn't look as professional. I don't want to say professional. It doesn't look as polished as the one from 2015. One thing, though, that 2015 did do, and also the 2025 has also followed suit. They've gone in there and panel lined. This one never had that. This one had it. 2025 has got it as well. Coloring, though, for the body does look like the purple is a little bit more muted. The plastic also does seem like it's a little shinier for the 2015 release. And a little, again, less shiny when it comes to 2025. I do think, like, the mask is considerably better on this one. But I feel, though, like the coloring on this... If only they could have used this color and this mask. Because, again, I feel like this mask is a little too pastel. Hands, again, are exactly the same. The footwear doesn't at all change, really. Other than the fact that, yeah, you can probably see it much better here with the shoes. How that's much more of a teal-colored blue. And that's a little bit more of a pastel blue. Face-wise, we'll go ahead and just peel this one off. Now, one of the benefits also that the 2015 did benefit from was that they also went in there and painted the eyes. Did some nice shadowing also around that as well. So it just made the eyes pop a little bit more. And, again, with the 2015, we'll just remove the mask quickly here. This one does the same. Although the eyes are much brighter here on the 2015 or 2025. So 10 years past, they've gone and definitely improved the paint. It glows a lot more. Face sculpts, again, look exactly the same. So there's nothing really much that's different other than just new cosmetic changes. And I guess really the biggest change is that also the mask. We get a much better looking mask. Just to show you, though, for a second. I don't want to just put in the 2015 mask on the 2025 body. Yeah, you know, I like the blue, I think, a little bit more. And here again is the 2025 mask. You let me know down below. Do you like this coloring? Or do you think that the pastel blue works a little bit better? For the articulation, though, on the figure, I mean, if you're familiar at all with the ultimate Jason's, or even, for that matter, if you've just been collecting the NES Jason's, not really sure why you would. The articulation, obviously, is going to be retained with all the three figures. There's nothing really that's been improved on one. They're all basically following the same format. For Jason's articulation, obviously, the head's going to be on a ball joint. It allows the head to move back and forth. It does also move up and down there as well. Just, though, be careful when you are moving it that you don't break and pull the straps by mistake. Of course, the arms do rotate all the way around as well. They'll still make, granted, that sound, that squeaky sound. Because, obviously, it's just hitting the softer plastic for his torso. The arms can come out. I wouldn't necessarily say at 90 degrees, but it does pull out at least a 45. There's a swivel here. Now, the figure, obviously, is not going to have a swivel in his bicep. But he does have, at least, though, a swivel in his forearm. He's bent at the elbow. Hands rotate all the way around. You can hinge those back and forth there, too. Upper torso is a little tight, but it does do the job of rotating all the way around. It's going to make off some noise when you're doing that, too. Legs split, and they split pretty far. You move forward and back. And still, again, you're going to get a lot of that sound while it's rubbing up against itself. What? Swivel at the top of the thigh. Single hinge for the knee. Knees, I've noticed on mine, are a little on the tighter side. Lower leg does rotate. Hinge up and down on the feet. And they also rock back and forth. In case you are curious, in case anybody cares, the figure does also have peggles on the bottoms of his feet. So, there are changes that are made. I mean, again, I think, for the most part, there are more positives made to the changes to the reissue than there are the negatives. Again, just to bring back in here, the 2015. One thing I will say that the 2015, I think, does a little bit better is the coloring. I like, I think, the purple more on this one. I think I like the blue better on the 2015. And, of course, we can also bring in the convention exclusive version here as well. One thing I really think that's cool is that NECA found a way to bring back the sound chip feature. So, again, when you open and close the flap, it's going to make, of course, the sound effects. And, of course, they also did bring back Pamela Voorhees. So, again, there's the Pamela Voorhees from 2015. There's the one from 2025. I think, like, the mask is better on this one. I think the paint also is better on the unmasked head portrait that's underneath. But I still feel the one thing that this one still does better is the coloring for his mask. And everything that's basically in this blue does a better blue than the one that we're now getting in the reissue. I'm so relieved I didn't have to go through any confusing cabins like in the game in order to find this figure. NECA had it advertised only on their site. I don't know if he was actually available in any other format or any other outlets than that. But that's, unfortunately, where I had to pick up the figure. I say, unfortunately, though, because, you know, if you've already now seen two videos this week, you'll know. Order a whole bunch of stuff from NECA at, like, near the end of April. And we're now, like, I'm looking at my outdated calendar. And we're into the first week of June and these figures finally did arrive. Despite some delay, and that's a bit of an understatement, finally now happy to have Jason Voorhees with the reissue. This one, again, is dated from 2025. You can definitely see improvements, at least for the mask. Body is going to be exactly the same. There's nothing at all that's been changed there. The floating Pamela Voorhees head is also, again, the same. But there's been refinements made to the mask. It looks a little sharper. It looks a little cleaner. And it looks a little bit more finished. Yet, though, I still feel like the coloring is better on the one from 2013. Or 2015. I'm even confusing my dates. Ten years have passed. And yet, I feel like the coloring is better for the second release one that also had the sound chip. Speaking of sound chips, relieved, though, that NECA found the way to bring back the sound chip. I don't know, again, like, how long that's going to last. I guess it depends on how many times you're opening and closing it. And plus two, batteries just eventually have their shelf life, their lifespan. And eventually, that battery, I'm sure, will die. But in the meantime, if you want to annoy other people in your house, just open up the flap and walk from room to room playing the theme song from the NES Friday the 13th. Like I said, this one is available right now on NECA's site. I think, as far as I know, it's still in stock. If you have picked this one up for yourself. And maybe you already own the other two Jasons. Is there, again, enough change that have been made to this reissue? Even then, having those other two, you're not disappointed at all that you picked this one up. If you guys also did enjoy this video, you can do a solid, throw it, yeah, like. There's going to be more videos coming your way, so make sure you're coming back to this channel. As always, again, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
