room so scott let us know what we have here obviously the he-man masters of the universe this is one of [00:00:38] Speaker 3: the rooms that house these products yes this is our eternia room so when you're in here it's as if you're in eternia but we can see castle grayskull in here as well it's kind of exciting though because we have he-man here in the room and we also have a display of he-man through the years [00:00:54] Speaker 2: with action figures we have the new he-man yes and nick i know that you instagram that you played [00:01:01] Speaker 1: with action figures a lot yeah yeah i mean you know very much formative for me and really i came to acting quite late you know i didn't act until i left high school but really i kind of attribute my sort of the birth of my imagination with playing with figures yeah there is yes like with my own figurine [00:01:21] Speaker 2: and then we have some of the progression i want to say like 80s until nick's current day figurine [00:01:28] Speaker 3: so we start with recreations of some of the very early looks so this is he-man as he looked back in the 80s along with battle cat and then we've also got he-man's look in our 1983 show as well as prince adam so he-man had a little bit of a different look here face was maybe a little more handsome haircut was you know a choice um but truly iconic and then we move into the early 2000s so we rebooted the show in 2002 he-man had a different emblem on his chest a different power sword we've got collectibles so i mean he-man has had a number of statues dedicated to him and then finally it brings us to our movie so this is you the most handsome this is you well i don't know about that [00:02:10] Speaker 2: but you know you said maybe a little less handsome then there's the progression of handsome here it is [00:02:15] Speaker 3: it is yeah good answer very good answer yeah yeah we've got a core action figure here and then a collector figure here yeah you can see the high detail here as well yes awesome [00:02:30] Speaker 2: the next table some grails here castle gray skull yes what can you say about what we have on this [00:02:36] Speaker 3: table well you talked about playing with action figures earlier a play set is a perfect place to play with action figures and this is a incredibly iconic one castle gray skull i think even if you don't know much about the property you you know castle gray skull when you see it again just that moment of joy when you're able to reconnect with your childhood maybe more precious to the collector community though is this this is the eternia play set wow so much detail so much detail it has a working monorail it's incredible just a lot of fun here fantastic play set speaking of holy grails we do have a cabinet over here filled yes with some of the original action figures so you can see he-man fisto battle cat from the original releases back in the 80s all right we have some other rooms to hit [00:03:21] Speaker 2: let's continue on the tour great heidi sasha thank you so much from what has been described as kind of like the heart of this headquarters barbie we are in the barbie section right off the bat i want to what is going on here [00:03:41] Speaker 4: this is what we call hand painting okay this is how we create all the likenesses that we create here at mattel for all mattel brands so sasha is one of our most talented premier face designers okay so she is the one who sets the aesthetic for anything new that we are doing like if we're doing a likeness of somebody which we are doing here okay all right so she will take the sculpt that's created and she'll [00:04:06] Speaker 2: paint the likeness on that small scale and heidi what would you say are some of the rarest ones that [00:04:12] Speaker 4: are housed here or that's sold on the market the number one barbie for sure this is the swimsuit doll yeah okay we have her here she's probably the one that people are most interested in having kind of the coolest part of this whole thing here it's a hair design so while in production we have some automation but all of the hair styling itself like the braids that you see all of the detailed hair that you see it's all done by hand okay so for he-man his hair is quite complicated and it seems like oh boy a boy hairstyle is super easy we just sew the hair on the head and create the hairstyle but it's probably one of the most complicated hairstyles wow so that's why you see a lot of molded hair for ken [00:04:55] Speaker 2: because his hair is it's so hard to do male hair how many barbies would you say are housed if you had to [00:05:01] Speaker 4: approximate here oh my gosh probably thousands yeah libraries of dolls just like everywhere in this building [00:05:12] Speaker 2: so this is the original barbie sewing machine shirley how are you how's it going this is where the barbie that you talked about the first one the super rare one was made yeah what can you tell us about this machine [00:05:24] Speaker 4: these machines this is amazing so they are here in the beginning of barbie this is the identical machine and we are still using it to this day for all our prototyping wow the only maintenance we do to these machines will change the needles and we put a little drop of oil in every once in a while [00:05:39] Speaker 2: and they're still running perfectly have barbie fanatics tried to like source these or or yeah [00:05:44] Speaker 4: and this probably is the holy grail of something totally is yeah yeah so you can buy kind of a weird version of this online okay which i think some collectors try to do but this really is the [00:05:55] Speaker 2: premier one to have amazing and the process we have it live right here yeah so there's a needle that [00:06:01] Speaker 4: comes up through the bottom post it's kind of like an upside down sewing machine and the hair is thread [00:06:06] Speaker 2: through the machine and some of the rarest of past and present have come right right here right here [00:06:13] Speaker 4: it's happened yeah amazing many famous heads have been rooted on this machine [00:06:22] Speaker 2: we are now in the hot wheels section of this mattel hq and james you brought up a hypothetical question [00:06:29] Speaker 5: to me what was that we talked about the one-of-a-kind prototype here and our drivable beach bomb van right so i asked them a hypothetical question would you take this one-of-a-kind prototype or would you like to take this beach bomb custom painted van down to dockweiler beach and drive it and he was pretty [00:06:50] Speaker 2: acquisitive well i i did do my research because i know that this is super super real this is [00:06:56] Speaker 5: considered one of the grails of hot wheels yes yes yeah cornerstone sure and these sell for how much probably upwards over a hundred and fifty thousand dollars crazy this one kind 1969 volkswagen beach [00:07:08] Speaker 2: bomb over 150 000 and then the life-size one is 40 or 50 000 but you can enjoy and drive it before today how rare is it to have this one in this very pristine yeah you know we've seen ones online that yeah obviously the condition isn't as good this is like one yeah this is one of a kind prototype [00:07:26] Speaker 5: there's many collectors out there who will salivate over something like this right really unique [00:07:36] Speaker 2: charlie thank you so much yeah of course a world-class hot wheels designer that's high praise high praise high praise thank you i want to talk about the history you know we have elite 64 but like back to like the sweet 16 that first set in like 1968 what do you know about kind of like the progression [00:07:51] Speaker 6: of that set of cars until now yeah i mean for us having that sweet 16 also known as original 16 very pivotal for us because it was the first time a car toy actually had moving wheels and kids could actually play with them because before then they didn't have moving wheels right that's actually what kind of prompted the name hot wheels because they're moving like wow those are some hot wheels from there i think we were really choosing cool castings to do cool cars started customizing them making our own designs that's how hot wheels grew their claim to fame and since then i mean we've been doing that for now almost the past 60 years so it's part of our history and then masters of the universe what can you talk about this range what was great about this line is if the characters became vehicles what would they be like right so for he-man over here he's very muscular so i instantly thought muscle car okay his hair being the roof and even having the axe in the back as a spoiler maybe identify him charlie some favorite and rare ones along this side of the table yeah this one which i recently worked on it's 1967 ferrari 330 p4 the great thing about this is the rear engine cover opens up you get full engine detail this is one of the ones that sold out really quickly recently online this one's one of my favorites wow what's really cool about this one is we have all four doors that can actually open up [00:09:14] Speaker 2:
