[0:00] So President Trump says Iran still wants to make a deal, despite the two sides trading strikes over the weekend. [0:06] And it comes as the president has reportedly toughened his terms for Tehran. [0:11] All right, Alexandra Hoth is live at the White House with the details. Good morning, Alex. [0:15] Well, good morning to you. The president issuing a message of reassurance this morning on Truth Social, [0:20] especially for those who are pushing him to get this deal done faster. [0:23] He said, quote, sit back and relax. It'll all work out in the end. [0:26] The president continuing on Truth Social, Iran really wants to make a deal and it will be a good one for the USA and those that are with us. [0:34] Now, the demands from the U.S. side remain to be Iran has to agree to no nuclear weapon, but they also have to agree not to buy one. [0:41] Any remaining materials have to be destroyed. The Strait of Hormuz has to open with no tolls. [0:46] Sea mines, they also have to be removed. And the U.S. naval blockade has to be lifted. [0:50] The president highlighting to Fox that that main point has already been agreed to. [0:54] The one guarantee that I have to have is that there will be no nuclear weapons. [1:01] They've agreed to that. And it was very interesting. [1:05] They said they originally said we will not develop a nuclear weapon. [1:08] I said, well, what happens if you buy a nuclear weapon? [1:10] So now it says we will not develop or in any way purchase a military weapon. [1:15] That's a big difference. So we're getting what we want slowly. [1:19] Very tough negotiators. It takes a long time. I'm in no hurry. [1:24] Because when you're in a hurry, according to the president, you make bad decisions, bad deals. [1:30] But there still is the issue of who's in charge. [1:33] The regime is fairly discombobulated, as you know. [1:37] That's why it's taken so long to negotiate anything. [1:39] But President Trump has been clear. [1:40] He wants this decision to be made by the Iranian people in terms of who will lead that country. [1:44] I think we need to have an opportunity to see if we can get to a deal. [1:48] And hopefully what we see is a resurrection of a country that has great economic potential. [1:54] And that potential is why the president says he has so far resisted in taking out, [2:00] wiping out, as he's put it, the entirety of Iran's military, [2:03] because it would take so long for the country to rebuild. [2:05] But he does still reserve that option if this deal goes south, guys. [2:11] All right. Thanks so much. [2:13] So, I mean, we have the exchange of fire. [2:16] And over the weekend, it became clear that those rockets shot at Kuwait hit our base. [2:20] Yes. [2:21] And we have guys injured. [2:23] So they wanted retaliation because we also disabled a ship this weekend after we took out some of their assets [2:30] because they were being provocative with us. [2:32] So this is a low—this is a—essentially, we're still engaging with them. [2:38] And they feel as though that they can hit us because the president does not want to go back to military force. [2:44] I think they're mistaken again. [2:47] Yeah. [2:47] I mean, the president is holding right now because he's trying to get some sort of peace deal. [2:52] But just to put it into perspective, our military is unmoved. [2:57] They're restocked. [2:58] They're ready to go. [3:00] If you listen to the Secretary of War during that cabinet meeting the other day, [3:06] the president looks over and was like, he's ready at any time to start back operations. [3:10] So, you know, I appreciate the president trying to accomplish peace. [3:14] You saw what he said on True Social about everybody remaining calm. [3:18] But at some point, he is going to get frustrated and we're going to see us go back. [3:23] Well, he said if they don't comply, then we will have to go in with force. [3:27] But right now, he says he's taking a very patient approach. [3:31] He told Laura Trump, his daughter-in-law, he was on her show this weekend, and he said, you know, I'm not in any hurry. [3:39] I know that gas prices are high. [3:41] As soon as we get what our demands are, he wants the enriched uranium, then gas prices will go down again. [3:49] But for right now, he said, I know we're facing the midterms, but he said last week, [3:54] if I don't do what I'm supposed to do to protect our country, because there's a midterm coming up, [4:00] then nothing will ever get done, because there's a midterm, there's an election every two years. [4:04] Exactly. [4:05] Right. [4:05] If they get to November and they're still not complying, the gloves are off. [4:11] I'm telling you, they've already done, the president's already done with no other president was willing to do. [4:15] They first hit them last year in June, and then bury their nuclear program. [4:20] And then they start reconstituting. [4:22] But the other thing you cannot soft pedal is they're building up ballistic missiles. [4:27] The ballistic missiles that are fueled by China that are trading with Iran in exchange for gas and oil. [4:35] They were going to protect their nuclear program and be able to pin down Israel. [4:40] We couldn't allow that to happen while they resupply. [4:43] The proxies, again, to make sure there's perpetual turmoil in the Middle East, [4:48] despite the fact that the Gulf states surrounding them are signed on, essentially, [4:53] with the Abraham Accords and no longer looking at Israel as the problem. [4:56] And the other thing I would like to add is that the Iranians, this is how they miscalculated, [5:01] they are trying to rally the Gulf states against us. [5:04] After they hit them. [5:05] After you've been bombing them consistently for the last two months, [5:09] you're trying to take out their vital energy sector from Qatar to Saudi Arabia to Bahrain and Kuwait. [5:20] And now you say, let's rally against the U.S. [5:23] That just shows you how detached they are from reality, I think. [5:27] Here's Kevin Hassett. [5:28] He's the director of the National Economic Council on the chain of events [5:32] that will more quickly lead to lower oil and gas prices. [5:35] Listen. [5:37] When you leave the Straits, then you can get to Pakistan almost right away. [5:40] You can get to India almost right away. [5:41] You can get to Korea, Singapore a little bit faster. [5:44] But the point is, those are the places where the refineries had to shut down because they didn't have oil. [5:48] And that's why diesel prices went through the roof and jet fuel prices went through the roof. [5:53] And what happened with U.S. refineries is when they saw how much money they could make with diesel and with jet fuel, [5:59] then they changed what they refined and refined less gasoline and more of the other stuff, which was so costly. [6:04] As soon as the oil lands in Asia, then we expect those prices to reverse and gasoline production in the U.S. to go up. [6:12] And so I think I've seen some forecasts of how bad it could be, how long it could take. [6:17] But I think they're really underestimating sort of the chain of events that's going to happen [6:21] because the boats are actually already leaving and headed to Asia and making it so those refineries are going back towards 100 percent production. [6:28] I will say Kevin Hassett, he did some of the other Sunday shows as well, [6:33] and he pushed back against the narrative that everything is going wrong with the economy. [6:36] Essentially, he's saying that many of the sentiments that you hear from the American people come from the negative press coverage. [6:43] He goes, OK, we fixed the egg prices. [6:46] You guys complain about the egg prices. [6:47] He goes, we fix it. [6:48] We bring it down by over 20 percent. [6:50] There's no coverage of that. [6:51] The gas prices aren't as high under Joe Biden as they were under Joe Biden. [6:56] And we're in a military conflict. [6:57] And Iran is trying to use that against America. [6:59] But you guys didn't cover the gas prices before that. [7:01] So there is a narrative thing. [7:03] No one wants to undermine and say, hey, look, we know the people at home are feeling the gas prices. [7:09] No one can deny that. [7:10] But if you can compare the gas prices that are right now doing this conflict compared to Joe Biden when he was in office, we're at war now. [7:18] There's a difference. [7:19] We weren't at war then. [7:21] And you know why Joe Biden's prices were high? [7:23] Because he refused to allow exploration of oil and gas. [7:26] And he was draining our strategic oil reserves and doing a deal with the devil with the Venezuelans who was totally self-inflicted because he's on that green energy kick. [7:34] This is because we're taking out an enemy that's been an enemy for 47 years, which is why if it ends, this is so important to say, hey, guys, America, you've been putting up for this for the last six, eight weeks. [7:45] I understand that. [7:46] It's tough. [7:46] But in the end, this is what we did. [7:48] That's why the outcome has got to make it worth it.
