I Tested MORE Barbies with GIMMICKS

barbie change your mind change your style wash and wear is really wild barbie doll comes with passions that change designing color and warm and cold water so let's [00:00:37] Speaker 1: get started yes this is wash and wear barbie from the year 2000 that is the date that is on this box and we can see she comes with an extra outfit and it does say that outfits change colors and patterns when in wash we see she does come with some tide i also see some downy fabric softener back there oh and she also has the dryer clips too so here's the back of the box we see more photos of what you can do washing clothes is fun with barbie this is great this is you know for kids this teaches them a little bit about responsibility and doing laundry i remember my mom my parents taught me how to do laundry when i was in like middle school maybe i love doing laundry i wish i had my own laundry unit in my apartment but i don't it's in the basement like two buildings down from me so again here's the rest of the back of the box i love these outfits we can mix and match and she has oh a little a cart you can hang the clothes on the rack to dry here we go okay our wash machine is out and in the front we see these tiny little balls it's kind of like i think supposed to be bubbles or something and then cardboard cutouts of miniature clothing that's so funny okay i'm assembling our rack and cart there we go so this is our cart the wheels actually work and it does have this little string on the top where we can clip our clips just like that okay these clothes are already starting to change colors because when i touch them okay and here's our cute cardboard accessories i do think you know even though it's cardboard it's cute so of course we have our tied laundry detergent our downy fabric softeners and then this i don't know what in the world this is supposed to be but it's here i don't recognize this let me know if you know okay so barbie's almost ready to do her laundry we're supposed to use hot water or warm water and cold water to change the color so let's open up our washer and we'll pour some warm water in here okay i'm not gonna don't want to overflow it now let's start with this shirt so right now it's looking like this we will dip it in here and make sure it's all in there this these these clothing pieces are really really stiff so okay i'm gonna close the machine and then to do our laundry there's a little wind up dial on the back i'm gonna wind this up and there we go there's our clothes thinning in the laundry with all the bubbles okay i think our laundry is done let's open up oh okay this is different so now it's like a lighter pink and even on the sleeves the pattern has changed okay so now we need to hang it okay these clips are not super strong there we go i wish that she had actual hangers so i could have the clothes hang this way sideways instead of front facing because then i could have like multiple things you know what i mean i probably have hangers somewhere so our pants what color do you think they will turn with warm water obviously we've got purple or blue so let's just fold them up i think they're going to turn blue the spoiler alert close this we will twist again even though obviously the twist does not do anything and then this shirt i'm actually going to set aside just on a towel for right now so that way it can dry all right and let's check on our pants wow yeah they did turn blue i actually i really love this shade of blue i think that's very cute very pretty so there we go our pants turned blue and we can hang them so this is what this outfit looks like in its warm state i actually feel like this shirt is starting to turn dark pink again because i have all my fans and my air conditioner running because it's very hot in the city but yeah okay that's a cute look so now let's try the outfit that she's currently wearing okay and by the way i forgot to show you how pretty she is she has green eyes and a pink lip and of course she has platinum blonde hair with that little braid on the side she has these kind of wedgie platformed sandal heels and they're pink okay so let's start with the shirt the shirt is blue it's got the pink straps and then the big sun in the middle i'll do another little spin just for fun her blue pants are already starting to turn purple okay here's her shirt oh my gosh um okay well i see like a mix of both the sun and almost like a teddy bear that's cute and then the shirt itself turned like a very blush baby pink all right so the skirt you have this pink floral print put it in we'll close it i'm not gonna do the spin i'm sorry okay here we go so this skirt now actually is matching the sleeves on her second top so that's a cute look together these look great together i feel like these would look great together also but this shirt is now starting to turn blue again so let's switch the water out for some cold water and see what happens okay we have our cold water we'll pour this in and let's begin with this shirt again so here we go let's dip it in let it sit for a few seconds i don't know it says it's supposed to be ice cold water this is not ice cold because i don't have ice i just never use ice um i can't really tell i think yeah it's definitely darker yeah maybe my water is not cold enough let's try the pants let's see if the pants go back to all purple and place them in here oh i'm just gonna let it sit for a couple seconds i i don't think this water is cold enough all right let's see yeah yeah okay okay so fine you really need ice ice cold water so then in that case i'm not gonna bother putting these in the wash again with cold water instead i'm going to just try to let them dry now for this i'm gonna empty this out and i'm going to let this dry upside down because i don't want water leaking seeping down into this because i don't want it to get moldy or gross okay this next doll is going to require a little bit of baking so this is oh my goodness she's a mess uh well she's not a mess but the box is sort of all her accessories are all over [00:07:23] Speaker 3: the place but this is sweet treats barbie [00:07:36] Speaker 1: from the year 1998 and she comes with a supposedly working mixer and ingredients to make icing and a little cookie cut out so that way we can make our own treats here on the back of the box you see a photo of somebody playing with this so let's go ahead and let's make some yummy delicious treats oh my gosh this is our our blender there's like disintegrated rubber bands on it just so gross like i don't want that in my icing mix now i'm not gonna lie i wonder if these sprinkles are good we'll see we'll see we'll see we'll see so obviously we've got the sprinkles we've got the icing mix she's got a mixing bowl i love that she comes with a counter for us to mix all of this on we have so much stuff oh these are this is her sprinkles that's very cute and on the top there's that there's a ton of disintegrated rubber bands everywhere right now and there's even more stuff oh she comes with a stand i love that that really adds to yeah right here we got the back of her stand so you can really feel like she's in the moment and she's here doing this and helping out but i did buy some supplies so that way we can make cookies some cookies that are safe to eat because i love a good sugar cookie with icing and i'm gonna use these cutouts right here to make some cookies and we'll see how they taste because spoiler alert i don't think i'm going to eat this but i'm curious about these i feel like these can't it's just sugar i don't know we'll see and she also has this measuring cup it's got a letter b on the front and some measuring units i guess on the side but look how fun she is she's got an actual removable apron y'all remember when barbie used to not have printed on aprons she actually has purple eyes and she came with a hershey's recipe and coupons little pamphlet wow these are some major savings 50 cents 25 cents 25 cents oh and look i'm trying to clean this off but this opens up so that way you can store things underneath okay let's get to work i just tried to clean everything off there were so many disintegrated rubber bands on all of these accessories so we've got our counter we have our little shaker that has the sprinkles in it and our mixing bowl has a little place where it can go right here and now here we've got our icing mix so it basically tells me to use uh three cups of powder and uh two spoonfuls of water this is our spoon so maybe we can use some leftover laundry water it says blend with the mixer until all powder has been absorbed into the water let's try to fill up our cup all right i think that's good there's a good amount that also fell into the bowl already so we'll pretend that's one cup now one more cup oh there we go okay two cups great right three three cups measure three cups okay there we go all right that's three cups and then two spoonfuls of water um here we go one two i feel like that's not enough water all right now to prevent all of this powder from flying all over the place before i turn the mixer on i'm just gonna do my own little mixing like this yeah i'm really not convinced that there's enough water in here but maybe okay so this is a wind wind-up toy basically so here we go we're mixing i think we might need more water i'm gonna do one more spoonful of water here we go great all right all right i feel like this mixer is kind of weak it smells really good actually it smells like a pop tart like a strawberry pop tart oh and our things can go right here oh this is for like scooping and spreading the the icing okay so yeah the mixer is a little you know not mixing that great but um but i feel like it is it's starting to get somewhere so this does say to use like pre-baked soft cookies or on the back of the box it showed a slice of bread she's just using a slice of bread right there but i did buy sugar cookie mix okay now i have to make some actual cookies so i bought this cookie dough whoa it says that it's safe to eat raw um here we go okay there we go i'm just gonna try to like smash it down a little bit and let's take our heart cut out which i didn't wash this maybe i i should wash these first okay i'm trying to make this look neat and clean great now i'm doing the small stencil these cookies are going to be really thin okay i think this is fine i'm gonna go put these in my oven for maybe like five ten minutes so while we're waiting for the cookies to cool down i'm going to tell you about these little cards that have recipes on them this one is called friendship cookies it says decorate heart-shaped cookies cut in half and share with a friend that's very cute and then this one says wedding cake stack smaller heart-shaped cookie on top of larger one and decorate okay so yeah my cookies are done but they're not looking so great i want to try to reshape them so i'm just gonna punch down on these again okay there we go maybe this is a better way to do it is after the cookie is cooked that looks a bit better so i'm gonna do that to the rest of these hmm so good oh my gosh i think i let some of these cool down too long and now they're like getting hard i'm also totally gonna end up with ants in my doll room i recommend doing this in a kitchen great yeah i think most of them look a little bit better um mathematically i really didn't do this right but i i made three of each i should have made four of each but we've got three of the big cookies three of the small ones and we're gonna do the frosting now so let's start with barbie's frosting and then we'll do my frosting so i think that our barbie icing is mixed up well enough it's a pretty drippy consistency so maybe i did add too much water but that's okay it is like a light light baby pink and it does smell really good it smells like bubble gum like strawberry bubble gum like bubblicious should i taste it like it's probably harmless to taste but i just get really scared with food barbie's cookies have been iced and frosted we need to do our sprinkles so here we go yum okay so here are barbie's cookies with her icing and her sprinkles yeah mine are not gonna have the sprinkles but i do want to do the wedding cake that they mentioned by putting the big one and then the small one on top now i'm going to clean off my spatula because i don't want to contaminate my icing with her icing but you know i also want to compare to the back of the box wow i mean look how pink the icing looks on the back of the box like look at those treats back there so yeah our mix is not as pink as it once was many years ago apparently okay so now here's our fresh new icing and it's like a whipped icing apparently i mean you know it's really not that big a difference in color like they're both very pale pink okay so my first first cookie is done let me do the next one great here's our next one this looks kind of sad and then i'm just gonna set it on top of the other and this is our beautiful heart-shaped wedding cake doesn't that look delicious there we have it these are our cookies um i want to see how this tastes it's okay it's okay this doesn't smell as good as this one this one smells like bubblicious bubble gum like a pop tart like flavored chapstick this one and and the flavor is not that great i don't know how to describe it there we go fun this is so much fun as a kid i would have a lot of fun with this playing with this playing with this making these treats and yeah back then this icing must have looked a lot better a lot more pink but at least you have a very pretty barbie that will look very pretty for many many more decades to come so she definitely outlived the icing in this situation all right this next doll does not require any water no color change no cooking this one is very different wow right here we've got digital dress barbie what are those things those light brights but not because i think you're supposed to do use a little pencil to be able to draw on her dress and you know her face is really pretty she's got a nice generation girl face mold some dramatic 2010s makeup and i'm so so intrigued to see if she will still be working over here it says draw designs plain animate and sound active okay here's our magic pencil her body is it's a screen her body is a screen under this dress which is not even supposed to come off but i don't like how obvious it is that she just has this flat screen in front of her i wish it was just a little more curved like not so like straight edged you know what i mean other than that she has no articulation except for at the the arms and probably yes at the head but her legs like this is her body underneath this i really can't remove this dress because it's like sewn down in every place imaginable but her legs just like hop out of this black thing down here and then i think batteries must go in through here oh cool she comes with a stand so she should be able to clip into here and the pen goes in there so under here yeah behind her legs we've got these battery compartments oh oh no it's like the battery exploded in there or something this this is what it looks like in there i'll try my best to clean her out let's open the other leg this one looks much better so i've got some q-tips and distilled white vinegar and we're gonna go in here and hope we can clean this up oh my goodness can you see that okay i honestly feel like it looks great now i think they both look clean oh my goodness she's working okay oh look it says barbie so this says that she's got three buttons here on her necklace press the purple button to display the palette so here's the purple button let's see what happens oh okay this says tap a color that you want to use one of them is like blinking and flickering oh here we go it's not in real life but it is on the camera it's like flickering on the camera but okay let's do uh let's do this purple it says now draw on the dress using the stylus or your finger so let's just just just for fun see if we can oh ah yeah okay cool oops oh no this is like snagging her dress though a little bit i feel like i need to almost sand this down because it's kind of snagging on her dress yeah this dress would get like totally torn up and beat up i'm gonna file this down really quickly okay it feels a lot more smooth so now yeah there we go now it's working and it's not like snagging her dress okay so how do we erase oh okay so it says tap the purple button again to go back to the color palette and then tap the center to erase so like right there oh yeah yeah okay so the center is the eraser so now look oops if i do this it should be erasing everything okay oh and it also says that i could press the blue and the purple button together to clear a design so let me do a new design here we go here's our color palette this time let's do maybe this down here and let's see if i can write my name on here or maybe just my initials i will do d that does not look like a d two that does not look like a two oh and i've run out of space r can you tell can you tell that's supposed to say d2r so let me clear this then uh there we go oh cool okay now we're back to the color palette let me try that one more time d two no i made everything too i made the d and the two way too small and the r you can sort of see the r right okay maybe letters are not what we should be doing let's clear that let's just do a heart okay horrible oh my god why am i so bad at this oh my goodness uh yeah i don't know what's wrong with me so apparently there's alphabet mode it says tap the letter a on the palette to start spelling words oh and then it says hold the doll sideways and swipe left or right on the letter to scroll through letters numbers and symbols let's see so here's our a let's tap the a okay now oh we're gonna rotate her this way so it shows a and then i guess we just tap the blue square to select a character oh i think i know what this is for this is so that way it will shoot out letters right and so that way you can have it say something what's a quick short word i can have it say we already know that it can spell barbie here we go d keep going till we find the numbers zero one two okay d2 so blue to save it d2 and now r qr okay blue now green to preview d2r ah i love it oh my gosh i need like a this her i need to have her sideways behind me all the time as a sign and then i can get rid of this one because this is so cool this is so much fun wow so there's animation mode it says press the pink necklace button to see preloaded animations the pink button okay so there's barbie swipe left or right on the dress oh cute okay so we've got some hearts right what is this okay just like a design a fun design or pattern this feels very lady gaga like in 2013 during her art pop era she would have been doing something like this she did do something like this i know she wore an ipad dress once anyways okay that's sort of like a mod color block style oh okay oh it would be so fun to play tetris on this let's see okay a little rainbow let's keep going are these little like stars okay what is that b i think it says barbie yeah right it says barbie cute love it what is that what was that maybe it's just like a fun random maybe it's like um like a plaid kind of design okay checkered design cute very fun i wish there were like games on this that you could play like tap and follow or like try to tap to catch so we've got like some fireworks okay kind of like a swirly situation beach ball some like blocks landing falling cute we've got a diagonal style a heart a little snakey moment there's so many of these and then barbie finally right wow okay that's a lot of animations and then it says press the blue button to talk or play music and the animation should react but let's do the blue so okay we see the little music notes hi barbie oh okay so if i keep talking the animation will continue to happen if i stop then the animation will also stop okay let's let me and then i think it's just gonna cycle through it's just gonna cycle through all the rest of the animations that's fun i wonder if it would really react any differently if a song was playing i doubt it i think oh my god look how fast it's going i don't talk that fast but like clap it reacts to that so i can't like talk and clap in rhythm at the same time so okay i think that is everything that she does one more time here's a close-up of her face i think she does have a pretty face she's got some glue seepage in her hair and then she's got the necklace the only thing i don't like about her is just like the how flat the screen is on the front i guess it needs to be flat but it's just like it's too wide maybe i feel bad saying that about about her and her figure her figure looks great it's just you know it's funny but she's a gimmick doll this is her gimmick that's what she does that's really all she's supposed to be able to do and she does do it it works and it's fun next we've got [00:28:44] Speaker 5: secret hearts barbie i can make hearts go round hearts there hearts here i can make hearts disappear [00:29:06] Speaker 1: now i do have to thank my dear friend ken for this doll and the next two dolls he did give me ken thank you so much and i'm excited to finally open this girl and her gimmick is that her dress is supposed to reveal some hearts but they kind of already are revealed but maybe we can hide them it does say that if you use your warm fingers you can hide the hearts and then cold water again is supposed to reveal the hearts so we'll try this out okay oh and this barbie came out in 1992 yes that's the date on the box 1992. now sadly the hearts do not carry onto the back of the dress but it's okay and then we have this ice tray so we can make heart shaped ice cubes she also comes with some of the dress so it's okay and then this is what you would put your ice cubes inside of and you would use this to reveal her hearts but this is our barbie she's using the christy face mold so she has a really beautiful pink lip i love her pink earrings and her necklace yeah these hearts are already visible but let's see if we can hide them with again it says with your warm finger they should go away yeah i think it i think that is working i think it's just really cold in my apartment and that's why these are so visible so maybe i will take a warm blow dryer and just sort of blow dry her really gently really quickly so that way we can have a proper reveal so do you see how over here you can't see the hearts as well as you do over there i will be right back okay the blow dryer worked perfectly hopefully you can see a difference there's no more hearts and it looks a lot less pink it's just more like white pink iridescent so now i've got this big ugly giant medical icy thing and we're just gonna use this instead of the heart because i don't feel like making ice cubes right now i'm too impatient so let's do one half of the dress oh yep it's working do you see that okay let's continue great okay so surely you see the difference here between her bottom layer that has the hearts obviously and then the top one does not but this is not it there's still more that we can do with this doll and her outfit to change up her look this would be the perfect valentine's day barbie dress can be worn as a glamorous gown with a big skirt or alone as a mini so i'm curious how this outfit deconstructs oh she does have an extra skirt underneath so i'm gonna take off the big skirt i'm just worried because it has elastic i don't want the elastic to stretch out completely but we'll do it anyways there so yeah she does have this white mini underneath so that way she could wear it like this but i i definitely prefer it the the other way i think it looks a lot more complete but this could be like a cute ballet outfit dance outfit something like that and then in the back thankfully she does still have that mini skirt we will put this back on her and thankfully this elastic is still going strong but there we go i think even aside from this gimmick this doll is just so quintessential over the top camp barbie with the big sleeves the big skirt the big hair this is what i love the big earrings the big jewelry and i want barbie to do this again i want barbie to be more camp and glam and over the top and wear ball gowns i think they're so much fun okay our next barbie is styling pup barbie [00:32:59] Speaker 5: oh ginger bath time barbie and ginger she's dirty washing till she's all clean styling pup barbie taking care of ginger's bun i love my furry friends so much the cutest pooch we've seen [00:33:20] Speaker 1: this doll came out in 2002 and we will need to bring back some water so this time our dog is going to get a bath and our barbie is just going to be here looking pretty and the dog the hair can change colors and the the dog can actually like move too so we've got a lot of different things that we can try out with this okay this barbie has the gorgeous asha face mold she also has highlights on her hair and i think they look so pretty oh my gosh and our dog this is ginger and she's cute very very hairy very furry i'm nervous about like brushing her hair because she has these these nice little curls oh my gosh though her body is just a block it's just this this big block she has no legs oh i get it it's almost like this brown hair is maybe like she's a little dirty right now and then when you wash her it's supposed to turn blonde and this right here is our water pump basically we fill this up with water and then put the tube in and close it and then we should be able to use this as a little shower hose okay so here's our bathtub and now this bathtub is supposed to convert into a little stand for our dog because our dog this ginger here is going to enter a a best in show competition we have a ton of these accessories right here there's some hair clips a hairbrush a shampoo bottle blow dryer a trophy a bone and maybe a bag of treats i'm just going to keep those secure like this inside the box because they're really not going to change the way our gimmick works so i'm going to go ahead and fill this up with some warm water we will get miss ginger all cleaned up i'll put her in the tub right now this is a tiny tub oh my gosh this is gonna make a mess this is filled i think yeah we just hold it and yeah let's just pretend that the like brunette hairs just she was ginger was in a bunch of mud and dirt and whatnot and now it's time to clean her i also put a little bit of soap in this because i feel like it would be fun but yeah there we go okay do you see is it changing colors but like look this is going to make such a mess yeah it's it's turning blonde now we've got the other side that we still need to do i feel like i'm already running out of water but we will need to clean all of the bubbles and soap off of her so yeah i feel like the tub is a little the dog is too big for the tub or the tub is too big for the dog but i'm gonna refill this okay let's try to get all of the soap cleaned off i did not put soap inside my mix this time but yeah this thing like you really can't get a whole lot of water in it but like there we go no no i'm out of water already uh so but i think you get the idea it's a bath and the dog is gonna get wet but the dog can still do more things i promise so i'm gonna rinse the dog off properly to get all of this soap off our dog try to let our dog dry out a little bit okay now our bathtub is supposed to sit on top of here so now we should be able to do our styling i'm gonna try to just gently comb things out you know what there we go good enough ginger she's gonna get her golden dark brown hair back because it's so chilly in my room that it's it's not gonna stay blonde which is okay i like the two-tone actually so let's imagine that barbie and ginger just did a whole bunch of work and they fixed ginger's hair and now ginger needs to show us some tricks so that way she can win this best in show competition so ginger has this lovely little pink collar and if i pull it oops oh look look at her tail her tail is spinning that's so cute okay here we go oh she's spinning her her tail um i think i pulled the oh it's so cute to see her tail this this this is not going back in why is it not going back in did i break it come on i wonder if there's a way i can open her and fix it oh here we go i might be able to let me see i don't know if i can or am i supposed to wind this back up oh no oh man i just broke it i'm just i want to get inside here so i can try to fix this but you know what i don't think it's worth it um that'll be a project that i try to do on my own another time but you saw it right she span the towel was wagging and now let's pretend that she did not break down and she is a winner there we go okay so let's just pretend everything is okay everything is fine and then lastly we have this beautiful one-sided cardboard stand or not stand but um supposed to go like this with ginger inside and there we have it ginger is clean ginger did a trick for us and again our barbie is gorgeous just i love the belt attached to her shirt and the little frills on the bottom of her pants so great this would be a fun toy to play with in the bathtub or like in the shower or something too like as a kid uh with the water situation so cool all [00:40:03] Speaker 6: right next we have bead blast barbie [00:40:31] Speaker 1: so these dolls came out in 1997 and it would be barbie in different variations and it's so interesting if you notice the barbie here she has a mackie face mold and she's wearing the blue dress she's got the brown hair but on the back of the box we see it's teresa that's a teresa and down here we see the blonde superstar barbie asha we've got teresa and that must be maybe kira that's got to be kira so very interesting that they changed it up and decided to do the the mackie face mold instead um and i i like it i think the mackie face looks really cute for these dolls so of course in the box she came with this little situation that says barbie again even without the gimmick this barbie is just so pretty the hair the dress i think is so gorgeous i love the net moment on the top and then the colorful stripes okay so i think i get the idea we've got our little bead tool right here we're supposed to load it up with the beads that we want and then clamp it onto her hair so as you can see we've got four different color beads to choose from uh i'm going to just comb her hair really really quickly there's still like dog hair in this okay good enough now i'm going to section out a thin piece of hair maybe this right here should be good great so we'll use this section right here and let's just begin let's hope that i have enough letters to spell what i want to spell i'm sure you can already guess what i'm looking for oh are there no numbers i don't think there's any numbers okay i think i found all the letters yeah there's no numbers so let's see if i do this right so i've got my beads loaded in there and ready to go i think if i do it this way it should be not upside down we've got our hair let's do this okay oh i think it worked they actually show it like they show them twisting the doll's hair or braiding the doll's hair and then putting in the clips so i think i might do that because i feel like this is kind of gonna slide okay let's try this again okay it's not gonna be perfect but it's gonna be what it's gonna be okay great i think you know what i'm getting at let me do this side now and i don't know if i explain this very well but with every bead there's the front part and on the back of the front part is a tiny little peg and then there's an o-ring type of fastener that you use so that's what goes on the back and that's what clasps them together so here we go okay wow finally she's done um yep no surprise we've got dolls to remember there she is she looks a little wild and then we're supposed to be able to do something like this look at this big one so how i just did that was by taking one of these little gem beads i'm gonna put it in here basically you just do the normal thing the bead puncher thing take a thin section of hair so here we go i'm gonna punch this in there we've got our bead and now this little frame you can just pop right onto it or press press it in like this there we go yeah okay so there we go she's got some fun beads her hair looks a little wild right now but you know what that's okay i will say this is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it but again regardless of the gimmick i just think that this doll is so gorgeous and i love her dress okay well there we go these are our gimmick barbies for today let me know as always
