I Got a Mystery Box of NEW Dolls!

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: I just got this mystery box of brand new dolls from a company which I really adore. Many of you in the doll community have probably heard of Daffa Lucy. If you haven't, I've got a couple right here. I think Daffa Lucy really surprised us all a couple years ago and we all noticed their impressive progression from budget dolls to collector dolls. And even before their collector dolls, we noticed the budget dolls because they were really well done in my opinion and apparently in many others opinions because that's what catapulted Daffa Lucy to be able to release some very special dolls. So right here I've got some of their Playline dolls and these are the Playline dolls that really caught people's attention because of how well done they are especially in again, my opinion, their faces. The faces look really nice. The face molds, they don't feel like your typical Playline budget for children kind of doll. They actually feel very sort of sophisticated in the face. In my opinion, again, and the screenings I think are beautiful. Like the makeup looks really nice. There's no pixelation and the fashions and everything. Yes, they are budget. So it's got that budget quality, but it's still in my opinion, very, very well done. I've got another girl right here. They have nice articulation and all of the things which we love to see on affordable dolls, but they do have, if you want to spend a little more money, some collector dolls that are again, really good quality for what you pay for. And here's one that I've got with this blazer and this sort of dark outfit. Oops. That's the only thing I don't like are the stands. I'm so sorry. Yeah, I would love different stands. And then probably my favorite is this red girl. She was released for Chinese New Year, like maybe a year or two ago. And this outfit is so bold and beautiful. And the sweater is so much fun. And also the haircut is really cute. It's giving Velma Kelly from the movie Chicago. So with that being said, I'm very excited to see what's in here. I think I have an idea of what's in here because Defalusi has recently teased a new extension to their collector line. I'm going to just get these dolls out of the way because I just don't want to make a mess. But recently Defalusi has teased this extension to their collector line called Defalusi Play. And I think that's what's in here. I could be wrong and that might be embarrassing, but I think that's what's in here. And they've not shared many revealing teasers of what these dolls are going to do or look like. But there are some rumors. And we've seen, like I said, some teasers, but again, they're not super revealing. So this will be my first time seeing these dolls, obviously. And so I'm very excited. I'm very grateful for Defalusi for sending me these. Like I said, I'm a big Defalusi fan, so I couldn't be more happy to be able to receive these dolls. So thank you Defalusi. Oh my goodness. Okay. Wow. Look at this. It is. Okay. So yes, it is Defalusi Play. I'm so thrilled. And you know, I think, again, I can't say this enough. I think it's so impressive the journey and the progression that Defalusi has made. It really shows that if you put out a product that people genuinely like and actually think is beautiful and looks good and is well done, then that will take your doll much further. I think this is, this is the proof that if you put out a really pretty, well done doll, people will want more and they will be willing to pay a little bit more if what they're paying for is, again, reflected in the product. So let's find out what Defalusi is up to this time. So I think I need to peel this back here. Yes. Ooh, look at this. Even the packaging is so fun. Like all the details. Okay. Here we go. Oh my goodness. Oh, okay. I've got a little message right here. Let me just read this and make sure I follow all the rules. So I will tell you what this says. It says, "Dear Grant, we are so excited to share with you advanced copies of the brand new Defalusi play collection, a spinoff series made for doll enthusiasts who love to restyle, customize, and have fun with their dolls. We hope you enjoy discovering them, creating with them, and making them your own." Cool. Okay. And it looks like these dolls are going to retail at 39 US dollars each plus shipping and get this, they will be distributed at random in a blind box format. So I have no idea what's going to be in here. And I guess you will not know what's going to be in yours if you get these two. So that is something to keep in mind, but it does say these dolls will be released on August 26th at 9 a.m. Pacific time or 12 p.m. Eastern time. So cool, cool, cool. Oh, there's more stuff back here. Defalusi play series one, checkmate. Introducing Defalusi play, a new collectible doll line for his advance. Um, I think this is what we already saw. Um, Defalusi play brings endless possibilities to every collection. Edition size, no more than a thousand pieces. It says that there will be four hair colors, pale blonde, hazelnut, jet black, or ginger saran. I'm going to assume that they're all saran. The sculpt is called DF11. So that's going to be their face sculpt. I'm sorry I'm going over all this boring information before opening them, but I just figured I might as well get this out of the way. So it says body is ultra flex body, new with 13 points of articulation, interchangeable high heel and flat feet, and interchangeable hands. And they come in four different skin tones, snow, cameo, tan, and caramel. Fashion is gingham, two piece lingerie. Okay. So it's going to be lingerie and the accessories are strappy high heel sandals. Each doll is packaged in a signature Defalusi blind box and will be distributed at random. So that is very interesting that these are going to be blind box, which is fun. I will say though, if you know, sometimes we like to know which doll we're getting, which doll we're buying. So you, there will be a bit of a gamble when you order these, but hopefully no matter which doll you get, you will love it and you will think it is beautiful. Let's find out what this first one is. So here on this, it says Defalusi play. Uh, this is the bottom and the back. If you want to read any of that, it just says one six gal fashion doll outfit, accessories, doll stand. So great. I do love that they come with the doll stands. Let's open this and see who our first one is. So these are like a cardboard box. These boxes maybe are not like a collector box that you would keep, but they are still well done. Oh my goodness. Wow. She's gorgeous. This whole combination, the hair color, the skin tone, the eyes match the gingham lingerie. And look at this lingerie. It has a little frilly lace at the trim and look at the way it ties up in the front with those ribbons. Oh my goodness. And whoa. Okay. Oh, and the, okay. I know I need to take her out and show you, but I'm just experiencing this all for the first time. So we've got the extra hands and the extra legs very much like we saw with rainbow high. Cool. Very cool. And then yes, we've got a stand and it's the stand that I like. Oh my goodness. It's just like a, it's a waist clasping stand. Okay. Um, these stands are fine. They're fine. Anyways. Oh my gosh. Okay. Let me get her out of here. And yes, her hair is definitely Saran. So I think they will all have Saran hair. Definitely Lucy on their collector dolls has been consistently using Saran hair. So that's another thing that I love about them is that they use good quality hair and this body looks really beautiful. Like the sculpting at the belly button looks nice. She's got, she's got like some abs. It looks like too. Oh my goodness. Look at the, look at the bones, the clavicles. Oh my gosh. Yeah. I would love to see definitely Lucy bring out maybe some more curvy bodies. I don't care so much for the short and tall bodies. But I do think that a spectrum of like thin to thick is nice. Oh man. I wish that. And I wonder if they'll be releasing more fashion packs then for these dolls. I don't have any fashions that I feel like would do these dolls justice. Unfortunately, I won't be able to show you their full potential and complete outfits today, but at least you can see what you're, what you're getting when you get one of these, but yes, you will have to be very open-minded when it comes to ordering these because yeah, you're not going to know what combination you will get. But I'm sure on the secondhand market, people will be trading and swapping and selling, um, any ones that they don't want to keep. And maybe we'll be buying ones that they do want, obviously. Ah, yay. Okay, great. So she's free and yes, her hair is oops, a nice saran. My bow came undone. Oh no. Okay. Look how pretty she is. So she's got a side glance and I wonder if this tells me which one she is. I'm assuming this, this skin tone on this one is maybe tan or cameo. I have no idea to be honest, but the hair color I'm going to guess is hazelnut, right? But she has green eyes, green eye makeup, and this sort of salmon coral pink lip. And then she's got two black ribbons in her hair. Her hair is saran. It's parted down the middle and it's styled into these two curly at the bottom pigtails, but there's a little bit of gel at the bottom. And the hair does feel, I've noticed this with Duffa Lucy Dolls. The hair does feel a little waxy, but that's okay. You can rinse off the hair. I think to me that just is a sign of good quality saran is when it's a little waxy. Oh, and the outfit has button snaps in the back. So no Velcro, but I also, I love this new face mold. I'm pretty sure this is a new face mold that we've not seen before with Duffa Lucy. It's very soft, very cute, sort of innocent, but still looks really chic. And I love that the head is not huge either. It feels very nice and proportionate to this body. This is just so cute though. Like this lingerie is very cute. Maybe you could get away with it as a bathing suit if you wanted to, but let's look at her body. So as you see, there is some detail sculpted into the body. And also even in the back, you can see some detail sculpted onto the back too, as well as at the stomach at the abdomen. So we do have articulation. Of course, there's a little rotation at the head. Obviously we have the shoulder, we have upper arm rotation. We have a double jointed elbow and the wrist obviously. And this is the hand mold that she's got right now. It's a very sort of elegant dainty hand. I love that a lot. Now there is no joint from the chest to the torso. Like there's no upper body rotation or anything. So there is not that, but of course we do have hip. She can sit. We have upper thigh rotation. It looks like too. Knee, a double jointed knee and no ankle articulation. Let me put on her heels because she does come with sandal heels, I think. So these are our heels. They are actual ribbons that you have to tie up. Okay. The shoes are on. They took me a little bit of time to tie them up. I do think they look cute. They're of course, really plain and simple. They're just white sandal heels with the ribbon straps. So now let me see if I can figure out how to replace the leg without breaking it. It doesn't appear that there's any instructions, but I'm going to assume they just pop off. Yeah. Okay. There we go. That wasn't, that was not bad. And then this is, this is how it looks. And then this is the flat foot that we just click in. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You just got to click it in. So here we go. Let me do this one again. Oh, okay. And there we go. And the toes are so cute. I love the detail. I'm going to switch out one of the hands so we can compare the two. So again, the hands, these are pretty easy to pop out. I'm not noticing a huge difference in the hands, to be honest, except one of them has a flared pinky here on the right. And then this one on the left is in the index finger. So, okay. Um, there, there's slight differences in the hands, but you could obviously mix and match the hands. And here's what the stand looks like. So it is a round circle and it says DL right there at the bottom. And here is how they fit on the stand. Super cute. I think we're off to a great start. So let's see what this next one is going to be. Do we think she will be another hazelnut? A blonde? What was the other hair colors? Um, ginger saran or jet black? Ooh. Oh my gosh. Oh my God. And her makeup. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Okay. So this definitely has to be the jet black hair. The skin tone, maybe caramel. I'm wondering, I don't know, maybe this one is tan. Maybe this one is caramel, but the other one was called camo. I don't know what camo is going to mean, but once we open all six of these, hopefully we will get all four, uh, skin tones and all four hair colors. But her outfit is like a tan and black. So, okay. That's this girl. We will unbox her properly in just a minute, but I'm going to go through all of the rest, uh, and then we'll unbox them. So here we go. Next. Let's see. I'm going to guess this is going to be a blonde. No. Oh, jet black and different hairstyle. Wow. Oh my God. So she has a totally new haircut, uh, hairstyle. She's got bangs. She definitely has the snow skin tone. And then her outfit is a different outfit actually. Yeah. She's got the same bottoms, but the top is different. So you can see how the top is different from here, but we've got two girls with jet black hair, different skin tones, different makeup, different lips, different eyes. No, they both have the same eye color. They both have brown eyes, but I love this haircut variation, but they were not joking when they said snow. Like she's almost like gray pal. It's, it's a very pretty color. It's very striking. It looks nice on a doll, but yeah, it's, it's very, very snow cold. It's like a cold, cold snow color. Cute. I love it. All right. Let's keep going. We have three more. So I would love to get a ginger and a blonde just so we can see all of the hair colors. And so we've definitely got three skin tones so far. So we need the fourth skin tone and two more hair colors. So let's see. This one is going to be blonde or ginger. Blonde. Okay. We have blonde. Oh, wow. She's like a, a light baby pink color. Very much like, um, no, not so much in person. I was going to say it looks like quick curl Barbie, but actually it's not, this is more of like a coral pink, but she's very gorgeous. She's got the baby blue eye makeup. Her bow did come undone. So she looks like she has bunny ears, but it's okay. Uh, and then blonde and a new hairstyle. Actually, she's got a half up. It looks like she's got a half up. I'm going to guess that this is the camo cameo skin tone. This is the tan. This is the caramel. So I think if we're going from light to dark, this would be the progression. So I love that so far, none of these dolls are like the other different color outfits, different hairstyles. Two of them have the same hairstyle so far. Okay. Let's keep going. Second to last. I hope it's a ginger. Let's see. Yes. Ooh. Oh my gosh. Okay. Gorgeous. This one reminds me a lot of the blonde who we just saw because of the hairstyle. We've got that half up hairstyle and the blue eye makeup again, but this ginger is so gorgeous. I think she's on the camo cameo skin color again. I'm going to guess that's what it is. And then we're back to, Oh, and by the way, we have three different tops. It looks like all the bottoms are the same, but the tops are different. We have three different ones. So this one is that original that we saw first, the middle is a shorter cut. And then this one is almost like a blousey half blouse because it's got more of a shoulder moment. The rest have like a thin little ribbon shoulder strap. So cute. Oh, and she has, they have different shoes too. They have different shoes. So far I see a lot of black and then she's got blue. She had like the white shoes. So our last one. Oh my goodness. I hope it's another ginger actually, but I don't know. I don't care. I don't care. Let's see. So we have all four hair colors and all four skin tones. So at this point, um, whatever this is, we'll be happy with it. So let's see. Ooh, a new outfit again and another ginger. Oh my gosh. And this face looks so different from the rest. She's looking to the other direction. I think the rest of them are all looking off to the right. She's looking off to the left. And for whatever reason, her, her makeup and her face, even though it's definitely the same face mold, I'm pretty positive. They look, they couldn't look more different in my opinion. I love the bold red lip and I love the slick back hairstyle. So here we have a fifth or fourth hairstyle. Yeah. We have four hairstyles so far. We've got the pig tails, the half up, half down, the slick back and the bangs. And then I like her black and red lingerie and she has the black shoes, but the dolls that I have here, you might not get any one of these. You might get something totally different than the six that I have here. These are not like the only six dolls in the lineup, I'm guessing. And I'm assuming. So that's really exciting. Now I understand why they can't show you a picture on the website of what you're going to get, because I don't think they are producing enough of one particular variant in order for someone to be like, I want that variant. They're just producing random variations and you're going to get whatever you're going to get. So I understand why it is blind box. Maybe they're just testing out the waters with this first round of Defalusi play. Maybe they will pay close attention to which variations seem to be people's favorites. And then maybe they will take a smaller selection for the next round and let you buy the one that you want. Who knows? I have no idea. Or maybe the next round is going to be another blind box and it'll be even more brand new variations of, um, of these dolls. I will say every single one of these I'm really happy with. And again, I do love that they're all different. I think it's very cool. I'm going to open all of them and we'll take a closer look at all six of them. So let's do this. I will be right back. Okay. We are back. Let's finally take a look at the other five. So I will set our green girl aside because we, we really did see everything there is to see about her. Now I did try to, uh, brush out some of them, some of their hair, but it is pretty gelled and a little waxy. So trying to just do like a dry brush was not working out for me. So I will just wash their hair and brush it out afterwards. And then I'll post photos on my Instagram if you want to see those. So here is our ginger in the cameo skin tone. She's got the blue outfit. So she has a half up, half down hairstyle with the blue ribbon on the top. She has the blue eye makeup and the light blush pink lip. And then she has blue shoes. I really love her blue shoes. One thing I will say about all of the shoes though, is that the sole, the base is a little wide. I think it'd be nice if they were just a little tiny bit smaller. Otherwise no complaints. Now here is our caramel girl with the jet black hair. So she has the brown eyes. I love her dark plum lip. She's got the pigtail hairstyle that has the rooting all the way down to the back. She's got the black ribbons in her hair. She has the tan and black outfit. And then of course black sandals. And I apologize. I'm not creative when it comes to figuring out ways to lace up these sandals. So I just kind of did them all the same. Anyways, here's our blonde girl with the cameo, uh, skin tone. Now her hair, I did brush out and her hair reminds me so much of Alice in Wonderland, but she's got the blue eye makeup again with the light pink lip. And then she has this pink gingham with the black ribbons and the white lace. And she has the black sandals. I like the black sandals because she's got the black in her hair on the outfit and the sandals, but it would be cool to see pink sandals like a pastel pink to match the rest of her outfit. Now this girl right here is our snow with the Raven. I love her hair so much. She has the side part with the bangs and then this slight half up. It's not half. It's like little than half up hairstyle in the back. My friend Dakota pointed out that this is very much like a twist and turn Barbie hairstyle. And I agree, but her hair is very, very long also. So she's got the red lip, very snow white vibes, but yeah, she's so, so pale. It's like corpse pale, but it is pretty. It's like a striking pale that she's got going on. It's like a very cold, cold paleness. And then finally we have our second red head. So she's the only hair color. No, I got two red heads and two jet blacks. This is also a red head in the cameo skin tone, and she's got a slicked back hairstyle. She does not have a ribbon in her hair. Instead it's an elastic hair band. Her hair is parted down the middle. She also has brown eyes, but she's got a yellow eye makeup, like a goldish yellow eye makeup. She has the red lip and then the red bows on the black lingerie. Again, she has black sandals, but red sandals would have been cute to match her red lip and the red bows. So there we have it. These are all six of my Duffa Lucy play dolls. But like I said, there's probably going to be more variations. I'm just guessing that these will not be the only six made. I think, uh, there will be quite a few variations out there. If I had to pick a favorite, I honestly love the girl who I got first. I think the green is just so, so pretty, but really all of them are gorgeous. I also love this ginger with the blue. I love the pastel colors like the blue, the green, and the pink here, but the bold, the red is very fun too. Anyways, thank you so much, Duffa Lucy. These dolls are truly stunning. I need fashion packs because I don't have anything that I can dress them in. I really don't have outfits that I think will do these dolls justice. Speaking of what can they wear and maybe what can they fit into? These are a classic 1/6 scale size doll. So they will probably fit 75% or more of your 1/6 scale fashion doll fashions that you already have laying around, but I really don't have anything that I think is the same level of quality as these. With their heeled feet, they are a little over 11 and a half inches tall. So they're not quite 12 inches, uh, but they're also not quite 11 and a half.
