How was your team and your team doing a great job? [3:42] Yes, yes, I'm very grateful to the whole team. It was a great camp, a great preparation. [3:50] And we're ready to meet any rival, any person who will fight against me. [3:58] I'm very thankful with my team. This camp was magnificent and I'm just ready for whatever is coming my way in this fight. I'm ready for any fight. [4:06] You're from Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico. A lot of great fighters out of there. It's a tough place, though. How much pride do you have representing Obregón? [4:14] You're from Ciudad Obregón. How proud are you to be in this city? It's a difficult city, but there are strong people out there. [4:20] Yes, it's a very small city, too. There's talent and it's hard to get out of a small city, but there's a lot of great scenarios. [4:35] It's a small city, but there's a lot of talent. But it's tough getting out of small places like that. But we're here and we're excited about this opportunity. [4:43] Thank you, Harry. I mean, even after my camp, I got called out to go spar Canelo Muglia. So, it was good. I got some good experience up there. [5:27] And during camp, I sparred on the checkbook. So, I got some really good sparring and worked a lot on technique this camp with Coach Hector. It was good. [5:37] You're in the Middle East. You're sparring guys bigger than you. How much did you learn from that? [5:42] You learn a lot. You learn a lot because you see the mistakes you make with them and you go back to the gym and you work on that. So, if you see the mistakes you make with them, then those guys are the elites. [5:56] The Muglia experience, which would make you better. [5:59] The volume puncher. So, I mean, every fighter has their, has their, uh, their pros and cons, but the volume, yeah, you learn how to take that pressure and it makes you a lot better. [7:34] Alright, when people see you, they see a guy who has power. They see a fighter who goes for it. Why is your style so fan-friendly? [7:42] I mean, I'm an excellent role. You know, I like to come forward. I like to look for the fight. I'm a knockout artist, but a lot of people don't know that I have an extensive amateur background. [7:52] I have 17 national titles. I'm going to say four consecutive years. So, I can also box. I feel like, you know, I'm just finding my group, you know, in the professional range and I still have a lot to show it. [8:02] And I feel like I'm going to continue to do that throughout my career, you know, in these upcoming fights. I really don't look for the knockout, but I mean, heavy-handed, you know, the knockout comes in. [8:11] So, now I'm going to look to collect a couple more rounds and then finish them off. [8:14] When you hear Eric Gomez as president of Golden Boy, you're also going to talk about you. You're talking about the bright future that you have. How does that make you feel? [8:21] I'm happy, man. I'm super blessed to have an amazing team. Everyone at Golden Boy actually meet, you know, just with the utmost respect. [8:28] And then, you know, so everyone here, you know, appreciative of everyone's support and thankful for Eric and Oscar and everyone from the Golden Boy team that just backed me up. [8:37] For those of you who don't know, Joel also owns a gym in Bakersfield, a boxing facility, and also works with community and has a special needs class. How important is that for you? [8:47] I mean, it's good, you know, I'm up and coming and I don't want to just be, oh, I finished off my boxing career and then I ended up doing something, you know, just because I had something after my boxing career. [8:57] I felt like it's important to be able to give back. I feel like we're all champions at the end of the day, so giving back early in my career is something that I've been able to do. [9:05] I'm thankful to be able to, you know, give back to special needs, foster abuse, the average field, a lot of kids that are homeless. [9:11] Bakersfield is a small community where, I mean, you're just, I mean, you're not built the best hand growing up in Bakersfield, you know. [9:17] You know, and, you know, we come from Los Angeles, you know, so, you know, we just like to have it harder and, you know, being able to give back is something that's big in my life. First and foremost, I'm looking for the sacred Jesus Christ, Oscar De La Hoya, and all you guys for being here. [10:06] You know, I remember being a young kid growing up in Vegas, seeing all these fighters surrounded by great legends, great champions. [10:12] And now, you know, me being up here, it's amazing. It means all the hard work and all the discipline has made up. [10:18] All the hard work, all the discipline. There's a lot of people that shine around you and just watching you. [10:23] And it seems like you enjoy these moments. Why? [10:26] I enjoy these moments because, you know, all the work, all we do in the gym, it's under the lights, you know. [10:33] It's in the dark. It's what nobody sees. But here's where we get to shine, you know, and get that respect for the performances that we do in the ring and all the hard work that we put in the ring. [10:44] Yeah, but I also know your dad is not going to let you leave behind me, but you have to do the work in the gym or forget about this, right? [10:51] Oh, of course. He says, you know, we're going to work hard in the gym. There's always going to be noise around. [10:57] But just remember to always come back and to how we started, the humble beginnings, and work hard in the gym. [11:04] How old is 17? When did you turn 18? January.
