[00:00:00] Speaker 1: my gosh well welcome to the summer slam recap chelsea green and should i say the wwe women's champion i mean i watched the shows i was specifically told this is not what you are here to do and look at what you've done you did it what are the thoughts what are the thoughts right now this has been central what a road this has been what are the thoughts that are going on in your [00:00:37] Speaker 2: head right now i feel so jumbled with emotions because i mean you know i've been at this for 12 13 years and i've had so many ups and downs so many freaking ups and downs and every time i go to have an up there's such a terrible down you know what i mean like we we break the arm three times we have heart surgery break the ankle whatever it is like you name it i feel like i've been through it but the one thing that has stayed consistent for the 13 years has been the fans support they have been behind me riding through all of the ups and downs for through all of the kind of darkness and the the times when we were all like this is just never gonna happen and now they rode so hard for me that we had to have this moment and we had to have it right now in minneapolis with the ladder match with a 14-time champion the baddest bitch in wrestling with tiffany stratton who has been i mean quite possibly the greatest women's wrestler to come out of the pc like for real um and lash who is i mean a wmba star turned wrestler who could kill anybody yeah with her bare hands and i what am i what am i i'm just i'm just a girl who wanted to be a wrestler and here we are i know what you are you're the champion [00:02:10] Speaker 1: i'm the champion you're the champion not the united states champion not that the the champion full stop and i think you're right it's a moment that a lot of people and i mean we're talking about this when this match was announced it was one of those things where you go yeah we want this moment to occur we want this to be the moment but that's always been the story well we want it to be chelsea but you know it's really probably gonna be you know i guess it should be you know and this did feel like one of those times when this match kind of in the last couple weeks just went hey we don't have a champion and we're gonna name one as those days went on it kind of became this feeling that it's like oh my god like this is like could it happen this is the moment could this be the moment but but you [00:02:58] Speaker 2: know also i was dealing with that like the internal dialogue was was so not positive like it wasn't negative it was absolutely not negative because i don't feel like i ever really have i i don't i don't need to have negative self-talk but it was like this is tiffany's hometown you know or this is like lash deserves this moment so much and i know how strong she is she could absolutely do this or jade and charlotte who we want to see them standing at the top of that ladder fighting like we want to watch that match so it was just all these things running through my head and then there [00:03:38] Speaker 1: i was i did the undertaker i rose from the dead baby just just rising up off that ladder and that look on your face like wait a second wait what was it like because everyone keeps talking about the look i mean the look was this sort of like like you wake up from the dead and then you're kind of confused but then you go i'm three rungs away i could just climb this ladder that's all i have to do right there it's right there like you're dead and then you go wait the belt's right there i could just take it and then you went up and it's so chelsea greed right because it's this realization wait i could just take it i could just ask for it i could just tell them i could just make myself known i could just do that and then you do it and then there has been your story you've talked about that and we've talked about that before how everything that's ever happened to you i remember last time we talked on on the air you were talking about wanting to have triple a matches so what did you do you texted the undertaker i said hey undertaker i want to have triple a matches and it's like that to me was that moment on the ladder when you sat up and you were like i could just get the belt right [00:04:42] Speaker 2: now do you know that it's been okay we're in 20 let me get let me make sure i get this timing right okay it's been almost exactly and i should go back in my text messages and see almost exactly four years since i texted triple h and asked for my job back wow and who does that you know i mean you hear [00:05:00] Speaker 1: all these stories about like people who are way too like i don't know if it's pride i don't know [00:05:05] Speaker 2: what it is that if they want me i mean we do all have an ego we are we're way too prideful but not me [00:05:10] Speaker 1: one thing about me i will just ask yeah and i mean four years today you asked your job back but just that just the fact that you had to ask for it back just the fact that like there was a moment where it was like i know you thought this was gonna happen for you but it's not we're done yeah and you have to go figure out what this the dream's not happening you have to go figure this out over here yeah and that was a reality that you lived in for a moment for a couple moments yeah i mean i've had that happen [00:05:37] Speaker 2: quite a few times in this company yeah it started happening in 2014 it happened again in in what 2015 after tough enough yeah and again when they told me that they didn't want me to try out and then they [00:05:50] Speaker 1: allowed me to and again when they fired me wow and now here you are literally with that title with the title i mean it's got to feel not just rewarding in the sense that it's like yeah what a big accomplishment but this idea that like you were right like all that blind faith that you put in yourself you know because that's a difficult thing to do i told you so moment yes to have all that blind because that's all you can do at a point is like well nobody else is believing in me right i have to do it and there's everything in the world that's telling me i'm wrong but i'm right right and i have to live in that moment and for this to happen it's like oh my god it's so satisfying it's so satisfying how did it feel the reaction that you got when you grabbed that title i mean i saw the reaction you got from your peers which is like this amazing thing everything is so happy for you i swear i watched you taking photos with your family and the rest of the locker room taking photos of you taking photos with your [00:06:57] Speaker 2: family and like crying going like i know there were so many people crying because it's a wrestling dream [00:07:02] Speaker 1: it's what all it's what this whole thing is everybody's got that story everybody's got this story of being like i'm following this dream yeah because i think i can be the best and not everything is always under your control but it's so difficult to just keep working and working and working it's [00:07:20] Speaker 2: exhausting and like even today when i showed up i'm like wow i feel so exhausted exhausted i feel exhausted and not just like i mean we've been traveling non-stop non-stop since since i got back three or four years ago i've been traveling non-stop but like the it was exhausting when i woke up this morning and and none of my girlfriends could make it to the show it was exhausting when you know we're like coming up with things for the match and talking about it and that's exhausting and it's exhausting when the hair and makeup is isn't going the right way or i take out my skirt and it's not right and you know like you're just like what the come on can't anything just go smoothly but then [00:08:01] Speaker 1: you're at the top of the ladder and nothing else matters all that matters is the result [00:08:08] Speaker 2: nothing else matters and you know what like yes i feel this way but i know the girls in the match feel that way too i know that when tiffany did that incredible swanton and got that reaction i know she felt the same way like it's like god this is okay it's over i can breathe and it was all worth it because we did what we said we were gonna do which is put on a clinic for the fans like i know this matters and i don't ever want to say that this doesn't it doesn't matter this title matters this is the pinnacle of everyone's career winning this title and winning it on a premium live event or something huge like this stadium right but but besides that we just want to have these amazing matches that go down in history that people talk about we just want to make people in the crowd proud and and think for a second like holy how did they do that do they not have fear do they not you know what i mean like how did they do that and i i feel like these two nights have been that way yeah [00:09:15] Speaker 1: no i was with uh i was having a conversation with uh danielle i don't know she might be somewhere she works with me but she doesn't she's not so tuned into wrestling and she's sitting there watching and [00:09:24] Speaker 2: she goes i can't believe these are people right and and we're just normal people i i worked in an irish pub before this like please be so for real i was going to school and dropped out twice do you know what i mean like i was personal training i i did this is i i'm not i am not like i am not jade with the like i didn't have a six like i have to work for these things okay yeah i'm not charlotte who grew up so in this industry that it was inevitable that she was going to be charlotte flair like or or even tiffany who was so incredible in gymnastics and lash was in the wmba i am literally the person sitting in the crowd except i'm not somehow i ended up right here hugging triple h saying [00:10:14] Speaker 1: it's been 13 years and you gave me the belt and you're and you've earned the right to do it what and also it's got to feel nice that now when you go home your husband can't say you'll never know what it's like to win a championship in a ladder match and have the whole world cheering for you if you could say period yes i do yeah i mean that's a wild connection there by the way isn't that the fact that you go to wrestlemania and zach rider has his moment winning the intercontinental championship in a multi-person ladder match and boom here we are in 2026 and chelsea green has risen have you thought about now like you know what life is like going forward that you now yes of course he has to do the [00:10:57] Speaker 2: dishes okay he has to take take the you know wheel the garbage cans out to the end of the driveway it's gonna have to do all my laundry 100 you'll have to hand wash this set yes right he's gonna have to buy me a replica title to put in the house absolutely he's gonna have to take me out for a nice steak dinner with a martini oh yeah extra dirty um what else i haven't fully decided the rest [00:11:19] Speaker 1: of the list but i will be writing it i wouldn't let him uh wash your gear because he would probably try to sell it but he will he will but i mean have you thought about though like you now walk on to smackdown on friday as the reigning and defending interim wwe women's champion like you're the you're the centerpiece you're the goal post something went horribly wrong for me to i like what i [00:11:43] Speaker 2: don't know i i'm scared that i'm gonna wake up and someone's gonna have taken this out of my room [00:11:48] Speaker 1: and given it back to the real champion yeah so that's scary do you think in hindsight that that clip from unreal that went everywhere where they said this wasn't gonna be you screwed them do you well i wasn't gonna be uh quite that frank do you think do you think do you think that i should [00:12:05] Speaker 2: dedicate my title win to to old michael hayes free bird himself do you think it rallied the fans though [00:12:12] Speaker 1: do you think that it gave them a thing where we go we don't agree with that yes yes i have thought that [00:12:19] Speaker 2: since the minute that season one episode three of unreal came out i thought oh this is not gonna be good for the office but i love it what do you hello i'm i i'm getting all this love for just being me for doing nothing out of the ordinary for literally just showing up to work doing my job and going home unfortunately for the office that aired everyone loved it and now here we are three seasons later i mean like unreal season three just came out and it reignited that passion from the fans like i know it did i know it did i felt it i have felt it all weekend i felt it all year i felt it for three years um i really felt it when i won the u.s title but it it has like exploded since then exploded yeah and i and i thank michael hayes for that to the point i mean to the point that you're a good guy [00:13:23] Speaker 1: to the point that you are you are you are you are cheered you are not a villain i mean and you haven't [00:13:28] Speaker 2: changed a thing no that's the best heart change the thing i have stayed exactly the same person yeah and somehow we've gone on this epic journey where now they like it when literally six months ago not only did they hate it but i was like the most annoying person in the company um so that just goes to show you you can't trust twitter you know what i mean yeah can't trust twitter yeah yeah because now [00:13:55] Speaker 1: you are the wwe women's champion i mean chelsea i i can't say enough about what a moment this was this was one of those moments that like i said everybody that i spoke to was like that's the moment that i want to see i don't know if it will happen but it's the moment that i want to see there were some that were even going like well we're probably not going to get it yet but maybe money in the bank it's always push it off right maybe it'll be this maybe it'll be that but we're here we're now is there any part of you that i don't know if intimidating is the right word but is there any part of you that goes huh i'm not really the underdog anymore as of right now as of this moment you walked into this building the [00:14:36] Speaker 2: underdog but you are now the champion no i don't have any other identity yet geez oh my god can you give me like 10 minutes with the title before you say that you don't get you're ripping away my whole [00:14:49] Speaker 1: identity yeah now you know when people you know instead of people rooting for you going i know she could do it i know she could do it you know what they have now expectations no yes expectations no [00:15:01] Speaker 2: expectations no because this is where it all goes downhill it all comes crashing down so you're telling [00:15:08] Speaker 1: me that we got this interview at the absolute peak and when i walk out those doors god only knows [00:15:16] Speaker 2: we'll be here to only the lord himself knows what's going to happen [00:15:21] Speaker 1: congratulations i know you think it wasn't supposed to happen but i believe it was supposed to happen this is the only way that it could have happened your new interim wwe women's champion chelsea green [00:15:36] Speaker 2: wow what a life what a life oh wait should i do this real quick am i staying here yes yes okay before you go before you go does anyone have maxine's phone number [00:15:53] Speaker 1: somebody's gonna get called out for being shady uh chelsea before you go you're the champion you have a lot of things to do but you have time for [00:16:02] Speaker 2: one quick segment for you yes because i'm a kind giving champion that feels so good it's called the [00:16:10] Speaker 1: finishing move that's the name of the segment the finishing move and it's presented by minute mate that's my favorite i love minute mate i do too so we've seen and i would love it even more if they put me on the box i bet they will we're the champ now yeah so you're gonna get on a lot of stuff perfect minute mate included but you know we see all these incredible finishers your incredible finisher we see all the time if you could hit that finishing move on one thing in real life not a person oh not a person but like a situation yeah like uh uh i believe no i've got it oh i've got it what would be the [00:16:46] Speaker 2: situation it would be men who go fishing and then hold the fish up and pose for a picture with it you hit the finish and hate that you do i hate fish i hate men who hold the fish after they've fished the fish i hate it all what is it about i don't eat fish no nothing what is it about that is it [00:17:08] Speaker 1: because you just don't like to see the fish or is it because like what exactly are you bragging about [00:17:11] Speaker 2: i don't like fish and i don't really like men so yeah you know men with fish it just really piss me off [00:17:19] Speaker 1: i get it i get it especially for you you've sat there and held up that wwe women's championship and you're looking at some jamoke holding up a bass a fish a tuna right please be so for real how many ladders did they have to climb for that zero tell you that zero so the point is shout out to minute made for bringing that energy you know because sometimes all you need is something bold refreshing and unapologetically you to get through the day and chelsea that is how you bring the juice once again chelsea green
