[0:04] Congresswoman, have you talked to the feds at all since everything? [0:07] I have not. [0:09] Can you tell me what your name is, please? [0:11] My name is Ilhan Akalama. [0:12] Congresswoman, do you think this is your last chance to vote here? [0:15] No, I continue to vote. [0:18] Elena Barr says she still hasn't heard from the feds as the controversies that have followed her for years now collided with the federal investigation into potential fraud in her family's immigration paperwork. [0:29] Our next guest dealt with the squad member firsthand when he was leading the House. [0:33] So let's bring in former Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. [0:36] Kevin, good morning. [0:37] Thanks for being here. [0:38] What is your read on really the challenges that Ilhan Omar faces? [0:44] I mean, she could potentially be removed from Congress. [0:47] Is that correct? [0:50] Yes, because she could lose her citizenship if it turns out that she lied on the application. [0:55] You know, you raised something. [0:56] When I became Speaker, there were two Democrats that I was very concerned on which committee they actually were there. [1:03] Eric Swalwell to continue to be on the intel committee, having slept with a Chinese spy, I removed him and I had the power to do that. [1:11] I also removed Ilhan Omar from the foreign affairs because you get top secret information there and sharing it and her beliefs and her hatred towards Israel. [1:23] I literally had to take that to the floor and I remembering having to get the members, work them to get the vote to actually remove. [1:31] And now when you look in hindsight, I was correct on both of those. [1:34] Yeah. [1:35] And correct me if I'm wrong, but not only did she have an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic rhetoric, [1:40] but this is also the member of Congress who said some people did something on 9-11? [1:49] Yes. [1:50] She also came after me earlier saying people would only spoke to Inril for all the Benjamins. [1:55] And so she was censured, not censured, but we did a resolution against her on the floor even. [2:02] She had a long history of this. [2:04] But to think 9-11 that she just said and something happened that day, [2:08] it was almost like a laughter after she said it to a group. [2:12] It's just unbelievable. [2:13] We'll continue to follow. [2:14] I mean, look, she is innocent until proving guilty, [2:17] but there are a lot of allegations, what her name is, whether she married her brother, [2:22] and we'll see where it goes. [2:23] Meanwhile, I've got to ask you about this because, you know, she's a member of the squad, [2:27] another member, AOC, who is barnstorming the country out yesterday in California, [2:33] running, supporting a far-left progressive in the actual district that you used to hold. [2:39] Here's a little bit of her. Watch. [2:42] In the larger journey that we have to reorient the United States, [2:48] from a corrupt politics that is bought and paid for by the 1% and the elite, [2:56] to a nation that centers and honors the dignity of working people with higher wages, [3:05] breaking up the monopolies that are driving up our prices, [3:09] and guaranteeing health care to every single one of us that's a right. [3:14] Kevin, this is your old seat. [3:16] Are the good people of Bakersfield going to be persuaded by the progressive pitch by AOC? [3:20] Well, let me correct you. It's not my seat. It's a seat right next to me. [3:26] But we share the city of Bakersfield. [3:28] David Valadeo represents seats. [3:30] And what you have to look at, this is like a little al-Sayed in Michigan, [3:34] whereas the Democrats had a primary where AOC and Bernie Sanders came in [3:40] and endorsed a progressive against the sitting state representative, [3:44] considered more moderate Democrat, and they beat her in the primary. [3:48] Now AOC is doing two things. [3:51] She's filling the void of a real weakness of leadership inside the Democratic Party. [3:56] You don't see Hakeem Jeffries here, and he's allowing AOC to become the leader. [4:00] And AOC and Bernie Sanders are trying to take over the party by electing these progressives [4:05] in a lot of different places across the country. [4:07] Now remember what this district is. [4:09] This is a democratically drawn district. [4:11] Democrats have a 16-point advantage. [4:14] 42% of this district is registered Democrat. [4:17] Only 26% of the district is registered Republican. [4:20] But David Valadeo, he's in his sixth term, serves on appropriation. [4:24] A dairy farmer, really represents this district well. [4:28] But this is always a competitive district. [4:30] And remember, the Democrats came in, Gavin Newsom, and threw out the Constitution [4:33] and redrew the lines in California, even making this a little more Democrat. [4:39] But I believe at the end of the day, you're going to see David Valadeo prevail one more time. [4:43] We're following it. [4:44] We're almost out of time. [4:45] But I've got to ask you, Kevin, quickly, it's clear that some DSA candidates are likely going to get in, [4:50] particularly from New York and Colorado, and it's going to embolden. [4:54] The squad's going to get bigger. [4:55] Will that pull liberal sway on the Democratic caucus? [5:01] It very well. [5:02] And it all determined about the size. [5:04] If they win the majority, how big is their majority? [5:07] If they're sitting about 225 or 218 is the majority, [5:10] they could really be running the floor. [5:12] But if they're able to get to 230 or higher, they won't be as powerful. [5:17] We shall see where it goes. [5:19] Former Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. [5:21] Thank you, sir.
