[1:11] The transcript of the interview between Karen Reed [1:14] and Gretchen Voss, an author, [1:16] were obtained via FOIA requests, [1:18] and they contained fascinating information. [1:20] And in this video, we are going to learn something about John. [1:23] And I don't think anybody knew. [1:25] In addition, we get to hear about [1:26] how John and Brian Albert met. [1:28] Yes. [1:29] And John's apparent love for Brian Albert. [1:32] Let's watch. [1:33] And John is telling me, [1:35] let's go by the Alberts. [1:36] Jen is texting me. [1:37] We're invited over there. [1:38] And this was really the first I was hearing about it. [1:41] I had thought up until this point, [1:43] if we were going to move along with this group, [1:45] we were going to get food. [1:47] So it's not until I leave McCarthy's [1:49] that this is the first time I hear [1:51] that we're invited to this house, [1:53] which I'm already uncomfortable with [1:55] because I wasn't personally invited, [1:57] nor did I even really engage [1:58] with the people who own this house. [2:00] I don't think I spoke to Brian's wife, Nicole, [2:03] other than to say hi, if I even did. [2:05] I mean, it was kind of like blanketed hellos, [2:08] but I didn't talk to their grown daughter who was there. [2:12] And I barely spoken to Brian in the eight days [2:15] that I knew him, Brian Albert. [2:17] Yes. [2:18] So I wasn't loving this idea, [2:22] but having told you what I told you about John [2:26] and how he's got these little windows [2:27] of doing what he wants to do, [2:30] I knew that Brian was on the job with John [2:33] and yet John and he never socialized. [2:36] So I thought, all right, if I were in his shoes [2:39] and this was another person from Fidelity, [2:41] I would want John to, you know, support it. [2:45] And this is a colleague. [2:47] So I said, all right, John, whatever you want, [2:49] then fine, we'll go. [2:51] And did John have any relationship with Brian, really? [2:55] Nope. [2:56] We coincidentally, as I think I mentioned, [2:59] met Brian formally for the first time, John and Brian. [3:03] It appeared that they were meeting for the first time [3:06] on January 22nd. [3:07] We know that Karen Reed and John met Brian Albert [3:10] at the hillside and they actually took a picture together. [3:14] We were at the hillside. [3:16] That was, John and I were coming back from the Bruins [3:19] and they were just coincidentally there. [3:22] And do they have like a lot of shop talk, [3:24] like, hey, I'm a cop too? [3:26] Very little. [3:27] There was some kind of altercation. [3:31] This is January 22nd, a week prior to John's death. [3:35] There was some altercation outside of C.F. McCarthy's [3:39] back on the other end of town. [3:40] We're all up at 138 at hillside [3:45] and there was some altercation in McCarthy's involving spouses [3:51] that he, the husband, was out with another woman [3:55] and there was some blow up at C.F. McCarthy's [4:00] and Brian Albert, Chris Albert, and another man that was with them [4:07] that knew John were talking about heading over there [4:09] and beating someone up or roughing someone up. [4:12] And there was some buildup going on [4:15] where they were debating leaving the women at hillside [4:18] and going to get into this fight. [4:20] Ah, there's nothing better than overweight, middle-aged, suburban white men [4:24] getting into a little brawl at a bar. [4:26] John went outside with them to discuss [4:28] and I didn't know what they were talking about at the time [4:30] but John came back in. [4:33] He said they want to go beat somebody up. [4:35] I said, well, you're not going to go, are you? [4:37] Like, do we even know? [4:38] Who are these people? [4:39] I don't think anything happened. [4:42] I don't know where the Alberts went after that. [4:45] We left now, again, January 22nd. [4:49] We left probably around 11 from the hillside, [4:53] maybe closer to like 11.45. [4:56] And I said bye to Brian Albert and shook his hand [5:01] and I said, oh, it was nice to meet you. [5:05] You know, I'm sure we'll see you again now that we know you. [5:08] And you and John are on the job together. [5:10] And he was shaking my hand with his right hand [5:15] and kind of pulled me in and said, you, we like. [5:19] You, you, we like. [5:22] You're cool. [5:23] And the intimation was, but the other half of this couple, [5:26] yeah, that's, it was very pointed. [5:29] You, we, like. [5:30] And then he kind of, you know, half cocked his head to John. [5:34] How far was John when he did that? [5:37] Me to David. [5:38] But it's a bar, so it's loud. [5:40] You don't think John heard that? [5:43] No. [5:44] I know John didn't hear that. [6:09] When John walks in, so we tend to focus, [6:11] I tend to focus anyway, on him and Higgins. [6:14] Watch the embrace between John and Brian Albert. [6:18] It's an oddly long embrace. [6:20] And Brian ends up realizing that John is kind of, like, [6:24] touching too long. [6:25] And then he hugs him back, like, twice. [6:27] It's very strange. [6:28] It is some subservient. [6:30] You pointed that out. [6:31] There is a subservience happening with John here [6:34] to both of these men. [7:01] This is absolutely fascinating [7:04] because Karen Reed is recalling [7:07] exactly what happened at the waterfall [7:09] on the night for which John O'Keefe died. [7:12] She claims that John was just hanging in the back [7:15] as if he didn't really know anybody there. [7:17] And it's sort of true, [7:18] except for the fact that we did see [7:20] John O'Keefe and Brian Albert [7:22] speaking together for over 20 minutes. [7:25] And Samantha and I covered that [7:26] in our video together. [7:28] So now John is there at 11.02 and 45 seconds. [7:31] So if you look right in the middle, [7:33] we have John, [7:35] then we have Brian Albert, [7:36] and then you have Brian Higgins. [7:37] Higgins is sort of hanging behind Brian Albert [7:40] for most of this conversation. [7:41] You'll see Higgins is now leaning in a little bit [7:44] closer to Brian Albert, [7:45] but John is talking to Brian Albert specifically. [7:48] It's clearly a conversation between him and Brian Albert. [7:51] 100%. [7:52] Which is interesting. [7:53] Did Brian Albert testify [7:54] that he really didn't converse with John on this night? [7:57] Yeah, so that's not true, [7:58] obviously, [7:59] because you're going to see it's over 23 minutes. [8:01] So from here until 11.23, 11.25, [8:05] they're going to be talking, [8:06] those three exclusively. [8:09] Brian Albert has like moved his positioning. [8:11] So now he's actually facing John even more so. [8:14] It doesn't look like we're with cops. [8:16] And I'm with John who knows these people. [8:20] I'm socializing and talking to everybody. [8:22] And John's hanging in the back nearly the entire 90 minutes we were there [8:27] and getting drinks, going back and forth to the bar, closing out tabs. [8:32] But he did not interact with Brian at all. [8:36] This is a very odd and incorrect statement by Karen Reed. [8:40] Based upon the time for which they were there, [8:42] actually, John O'Keefe spent the majority of it speaking with Brian Albert. [8:47] Eventually, when Karen makes her way all the way around the big old Brian Patrick Higgins, [8:52] then you see John hanging in the back as if he wasn't really wanted [8:56] or no one was really talking to him. [8:57] But initially and throughout most of the night, [9:00] he was speaking exactly with Brian Albert, [9:03] contradicting what Karen is saying here. [9:05] And then in the aftermath of what happened the following morning on January 29th, [9:12] it started to click. [9:14] Like John was persona non grata. [9:16] They lived three miles apart. [9:18] John was on the force for 16 years. [9:22] I don't know how long Brian was, but longer than John. [9:25] And this is a drinking town. [9:29] Everybody goes to the same three or four bars. [9:32] And these two men who are drinkers have not socialized. [9:39] And now in hindsight, and I, again, didn't know who Brian Albert was prior to January 22nd. [9:46] But in hindsight, it's like, yes, this was a purposeful avoidance. [9:51] I'm not even from Canton. [9:54] I didn't. [9:55] I owned a house in another town. [9:57] And yet I knew who everybody was just from sports and bars. [10:03] And that these two men had not warmed up to each other. [10:07] You'd have to do that intentionally in that town. [10:10] Throughout the 170-page transcript from this interview, Karen Reeve references Brian Albert [10:16] and little Colin Albert a majority of the time with regard to who could potentially have [10:22] attacked John O'Keefe. [10:23] Here she's setting up a potential motive for Brian Albert. [10:27] Yes. [10:28] But clearly on the waterfall video, which they had for over 20 minutes, these two were talking, [10:34] conversing, cuddling. [10:35] There was no visible animosity at all. [10:39] And it makes you wonder why she never revealed in this 170-page transcript that one of the [10:46] 10 potential people in this entire world that could have killed John O'Keefe had the biggest [10:52] motive known to human apes, the elimination of a rival male. [10:56] And of course, was speaking about Brian Patrick Higgins, old Higgy Bear. [11:00] My personal read of Brian is that he was standoffish. [11:04] He was gruff. [11:05] He could have been missing his three front teeth. [11:09] She's speaking about Brian Albert, not Brian Higgins. [11:12] Yes. [11:13] And I wouldn't have known. [11:15] So he, the two times I was in his company, he had like a ski vest on and a stocking hat, [11:23] beard, and just gruff is the perfect, perfect word for him. [11:27] When this discussion at the Hillside on January 22nd was taking place about potentially getting [11:33] in this fight and then it seemed to have diffused and they called off the dogs, John came over [11:39] to me when everyone's milling around at the Hillside and was on my own going, Brian Albert [11:44] likes me. [11:45] Brian Albert likes me. [11:46] And he sounded like a giddy schoolgirl. [11:49] Well, who wouldn't be giddy if Brian Albert liked you? [11:51] He's so dreamy. [11:52] Yes. [11:53] And at the time, didn't really mean much to me. [11:57] It was in the immediate aftermath of John's death that our private investigator said, [12:04] we've heard that the homeowner has a history. [12:09] He's an aggressor and he doesn't get along with many people. [12:14] And I told David and Paul, that's funny because on January 22nd, John was acting relieved that [12:21] he had made some landfall, so to speak, with Brian Albert or that they had even met and [12:30] that we all seem to be getting along okay for the hour and a half that we were at the Hillside [12:36] on January 22nd. [13:29] And when he took on the kids, he was given special dispensation to not live within the, [13:35] whatever it is, 10, 10 mile radius of Boston proper. [13:39] Can I ask you a quick question about that? [13:41] What about Brian Albert? [13:42] No, I think he, I think it's for the first 10, there's some time. [13:49] I think it's for the first 10 years you're on the force. [13:53] Apparently there is some residency rule with regard to being a Boston cop and living, I [13:57] guess, around or near Boston for the first 10 years that you're on the force. [14:02] And John was given an exemption because of the situation with his sister's kids. [14:08] He knew, per his own admission, you know, I can't wait. [14:13] He was always looking at the chart of when he could retire and how much could he live on [14:18] and what's the soonest he could get out constantly, like it would change somehow from one day to [14:24] the next. [14:25] And the pecking order, you want to be on a specialized unit, the gang unit, the drug unit, [14:31] the fugitive unit, the sex offender registry is, well, I guess. [14:37] Don't worry. [15:08] So John, John was a talented plumber. [15:13] We definitely know Karen is not lying about that because we heard about all the pipe John [15:16] laid in Canton. [15:18] And he had done it. [15:19] When he was on Duxbury, he kind of did part-time Duxbury and part-time helping his father's [15:27] plumbing business. [15:28] I mean, his father was slowing down physically and, but had a rich customer base and customer [15:35] loyalty, but didn't have the business savvy, but really could have turned it into something [15:42] if John wanted to commit to that. [15:43] I mean, now I think, I don't know if John was ever going to pull, he wasn't a risk taker. [15:47] He, he wasn't entrepreneurial. [15:51] Yeah. [15:51] He was not, did not have the entrepreneurial spirit. [15:56] Perhaps he didn't have the entrepreneurial spirit, but calling him not a risk taker is [16:01] a hundred percent false. [16:02] My man risks his life every single day as a police officer. [16:06] I'm way too much of a pansy to do that. [16:09] Being an entrepreneur is easy in terms of risk. [16:11] Um, but he was entertaining and I think at least satiated his frustration with his, with [16:18] his role at, at A1. [16:20] Right, right. [16:21] So back at the bar, real quick, what is Brian Albert like at this bar? [16:27] He, he is the ice sculpture that the congregation happened around. [16:32] He plants himself and it was the same way at the hillside. [16:39] He plants himself and everyone just kind of mills around. [17:17] I'm not sure if it's out of embarrassment, which I could totally understand being naive [17:22] or just ignorant to the fact that there was one person on this entire earth that had the [17:28] means, motive and opportunity to kill John O'Keefe. [17:32] And that was our old cuddly, but violent Higgy Bear. [17:35] But no matter what Karen admits to, we will never, ever stop producing these videos until [17:40] the real killer, Brian Higgins, is brought to justice.
