"Your elected representatives have officially been back in session for two weeks, and what do they have to show for it? Well, the Department of Homeland Security is still shut down. The Save America Act still has not passed. It's week 15. And here's what your elected representatives have been up to."
[0:00] Your elected representatives have officially been back in session for two weeks,
[0:04] and what do they have to show for it? Well, the Department of Homeland Security is still shut
[0:08] down. The Save America Act still has not passed. It's week 15. And here's what your elected
[0:13] representatives have been up to. If I were the head of HHS, I would, by God, say, don't take
[0:20] raw milk. It is dangerous to your health. Just one, just one little place where you disagree
[0:26] with Donald Trump. I'm from TMZ. Could I just ask you about the bubble one, sir?
[0:33] Can I ask you quickly about the bubble one? The key in fishing is? Tell me. No, don't be the fish.
[0:38] Maybe this is why you have given Congress a 10% approval rating according to a new Gallup poll,
[0:44] just 10%. This is just 1% above the all-time low for congressional approval, which was 9%,
[0:50] and CNN is noticing. You know, I just want to say to Congress, stand up and applaud. You're usually
[0:57] hated, but usually not this hated. You're reaching, or at least tying record highs in terms of
[1:02] disapproval. Hello? 86%, 86% of Americans disapprove of Congress. That is tied with November of 2013
[1:13] for the all-time high. More Americans say that the moon landing was fake back in 1969 than actually
[1:20] approve of the job that Congress is doing right now at 10%.
[1:24] Well, this brutal assessment of Congress comes as three congressmen have resigned in
[1:29] just one week's time. Congressman Swalwell, Congressman Gonzalez, they resigned amid
[1:34] major sex scandals. And Congressman Sheila Sherfalis McCormick stepped down Tuesday.
[1:39] You remember her. We told you about that big, beautiful diamond ring she allegedly bought
[1:43] with FEMA money. Well, the House Ethics Committee, meanwhile, released this document.
[1:48] Now, this lists 28 sexual misconduct investigations going all the way back to 1976, and it makes
[1:54] you wonder what allegations have not been brought forward before the Ethics Committee resignations.
[2:00] Now, sexual assault investigations, no America Save America Act, no DHS funding, and a paltry
[2:07] approval rating all in two weeks' time for the United States Congress. Let's bring in Anna Paulina Luna,
[2:12] a congresswoman who frequently calls out her own body and that of the Senate. Why do you think
[2:18] Congress has a 10% approval rating? Well, look, a lot of people in D.C. get up there and then they
[2:25] fail to realize that they are representatives and still work on behalf of their constituents. I want
[2:30] to bring up those three members, Kaylee, that were just expelled. I personally had to help lead that
[2:34] charge because House Ethics and leadership on both sides did not want to do anything. They didn't want to
[2:39] rock the boat or make enemies, if you will. Meanwhile, we've been fighting for Save America Act,
[2:44] the only way that it stands alive is if we put it on FISA, and we're having to work against our own
[2:49] party that is basically saying if we refuse to drop the talking points on it, that basically we will
[2:55] be responsible for a terrorist attack on American citizens, and I actually refuse to accept that.
[3:00] The Senate needs to do their job. Thu needs to embrace this talking filibuster or needs to find a
[3:04] different position. You know, congresswoman, you did lead the charge against Sheila Sherfalis McCormick.
[3:09] I have a picture. We'll pull it up. She has this diamond ring on, the one that was edited out of the
[3:13] picture. She blamed her staffers for that. She resigned and basically had all kinds of excuses.
[3:19] But I was shocked this morning when I woke up and I look and I see she's running for re-election.
[3:25] How could she do that? Yeah, so I think right now she's doing it because she's $700,000 in debt
[3:32] with her legal fees, and she's looking at about 25 to 50 years in prison. And so I think she's trying
[3:38] to do it to pay for her legal fees. But the point is, is that, you know, we just had a great reform come
[3:43] in through the state of Florida on our own Florida Save America Act, and it was passed. And so I don't
[3:48] think that she'll get re-elected. But again, you see that these people have no shame. And again,
[3:53] Kaylee, we wanted to go up there and serve the American people. But when we have these types of
[3:56] freaks running for office, this becomes a distraction. And so our number one thing right now,
[4:00] at least for me and residents in Pinellas County, is getting voter ID over the finish line.
[4:04] If that means having to kill a couple of rules and really take the fight to the Senate, we will.
[4:09] But we are outnumbered. And so what I will tell you is if you're watching this and you're frustrated,
[4:12] get involved locally and call your congressional representatives because you need to remind them
[4:17] who they work for. It's frustrating. No doubt. My hometown newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times,
[4:21] I was thrilled to see that you authored a piece in there. Let's put it up. Congress must hold itself
[4:27] to the same standards it claims to uphold. I mean, you've been on this, this congressional slush fund.
[4:33] You've subpoenaed it. You want to know why taxpayer money is going to defend people against
[4:38] accusations like sexual assault. Tell me about this op-ed. Because I think people watching say,
[4:42] yes, spot on. We deserve better. Well, look, you know, Nancy Mace made the motion to release the
[4:50] slush fund findings. And over three quarters of Congress voted to block that release. I voted to
[4:55] release it. But again, three quarters of Congress, Democrats and Republicans voted to block the
[4:59] release of it. So then we had to subpoena it in committee. And again, some of those same members
[5:03] were worried that they were going to be put on the board for re-election. But the fact is,
[5:06] is that congressional ethics needs an entire overhaul. You have people right now, let's take the
[5:11] gentleman, for example, a military service member that's facing 50 years in prison for insider trading.
[5:16] Nancy Pelosi isn't facing any charges. She made 17,000% returns outperforming Warren Buffett.
[5:21] But there is a massive issue with insider trading in Congress. And they want to do nothing. And so for
[5:25] people like me that represent people that are working very hard at predominantly tourist-based
[5:29] economy that want to see changes in D.C. And then you see people selling out their own
[5:33] constituents left and right. I'm not going to just go along to get along. And I definitely don't
[5:37] feel that we are equal in regards to being able to use that term the honorable or congressman or woman.
[5:43] And so I am holding my party accountable. It hasn't exactly made me popular in the chamber. But it
[5:48] definitely is good to know that the American people are with me. And let me tell you, Kaylee,
[5:52] I don't ever anticipate on easily getting reelected. But because I have stayed true to my
[5:56] constituents, they are supporting me. And we feel pretty good in Florida's redistricting.
[6:00] The people support you. And it's amazing when you just said the honorable that Eric Swalwell
[6:04] ever had that appellation for his name. And Tony Gonzalez, too. Anna Paulina Luna, thank you.
[6:09] Terrible. Terrible.
