[0:01] Honourable President Donald J. Trump, [0:40] ladies and gentlemen, it is a great pleasure to host the state banquet [0:45] in honour of President Trump during his state visit to China. [0:49] On behalf of the Chinese government and people, [0:52] I'd like to extend a warm welcome to President Trump and the US delegation. [1:22] Thank you for joining us. [1:26] This is a historic visit. [2:04] This year marks the start of China's 15th five-year plan for economic and social development. [2:12] The over 1.4 billion people of China, drawing on the rich heritage of our over 5,000-year civilization, [2:20] are advancing Chinese modernization on all fronts through high-quality development. [2:27] This year is also the 250th anniversary of American independence. [2:32] The over 300 million American people are reinvigorating the spirit of patriotism, innovation and enterprise, [2:42] and ushering in a new journey for the development of the United States. [2:47] The people of China and the United States are both great peoples. [2:52] Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand in hand. [4:14] Through efforts of the two governments and peoples, [4:17] the door that had remained frozen for over 20 years was opened, [4:22] marking a milestone in contemporary international relations. [4:28] From then on, [4:29] China and the United States have written many chapters of friendship [4:33] through mutual openness and cooperation. [4:37] Under the new situation, [4:39] President Trump and I, [4:40] fully aware of the expectations of our two nations [4:43] and the international community, [4:46] have had multiple meetings and phone calls, [4:49] and kept China-U.S. relations generally stable. [11:26] The relationship between the American and Chinese people [11:40] goes all the way back to America's founding. [11:44] The first American council to China, Samuel Shaw, [11:48] arrived on the first American trading ship [11:51] to reach these shores in 1784. [11:55] The Chinese merchants had a name for the Americans. [11:59] They called their visions the new people. [12:02] Two and a half centuries later, [12:04] that first connection has grown into one of the most consequential relationships in world history. [12:11] The American people, the American people, and the people of China, [12:15] can be able to reach the U.S. [12:20] The Japanese city's name is Faisal before-spa-mao-e-wil Al-Sso. [15:06] And at the request of China's ambassador, it was President Theodore Roosevelt who provided the funds to establish President Xi's alma mater, Jinghua University.
