[0:21] President Donald Trump may have arrived to a roaring reception at his Great American [0:25] State Fair kickoff event in Washington, D.C. [0:29] But by the time he got into the heart of his speech, something unexpected was happening. [0:34] Supporters were reportedly packing up their belongings and heading for the exits while [0:38] the president was still speaking. [0:41] According to the Irish Star, hundreds of MAGA supporters had lined up for hours to attend [0:46] the event on the National Mall. [0:48] The crowd initially erupted as Trump's motorcade arrived, cheering loudly as the president [0:53] took the stage. [0:54] But that enthusiasm reportedly didn't last. [0:58] The Irish Star noted that people began leaving in noticeable numbers as Trump launched into [1:03] familiar talking points about his administration's achievements. [1:07] And according to reports, the exits became even busier when Trump started complaining [1:12] about media coverage of his approval ratings and declining public support. [1:17] Social media users wasted little time reacting to the images and videos circulating online. [1:23] One critic wrote, quote, [1:25] Another posted, quote, [1:31] A third user mocked the crowd, writing, quote, [1:40] quote, [1:41] Seriously, what did they think they were going to get? [1:43] An inspiring speech about what 250 years of freedom means? [1:48] As if. [1:50] And another simply commented, quote, [1:52] The fact they went in the first place baffles me. [1:55] The event itself was already surrounded by controversy long before Trump took the stage. [2:03] The president used the gathering as the official kickoff celebration for America's upcoming [2:07] 250th anniversary, while also promoting what he described as a nation restored to greatness. [2:14] But critics argued the event looked far more like a Trump campaign rally than a national [2:19] celebration. [2:21] Months of disputes reportedly surrounded the planning process. [2:24] Several musical acts originally scheduled to perform backed out amid concerns that the event was [2:29] becoming overly political. [2:31] Instead, attendees were treated to performances from military bands and two artists closely [2:37] associated with Trump events, Lee Greenwood and Christopher Macchio. [2:41] And during the event, Trump also delivered a lengthy speech outlining his vision for America [2:47] and reflecting on his administration's accomplishments. [2:50] Take a listen. [3:24] They proclaimed the eternal truths that we are endowed by our creator. [3:32] Those timeless American principles did not just win a revolution, but they built us into [3:40] the greatest, strongest and most exceptional nation the world has ever known. [3:45] There has never been anything like the United States of America. [3:51] America and together we are making it bigger and better and stronger and far more exceptional [3:58] than ever before. [4:01] Today, we have the largest economy on Earth. [4:05] We have the strongest military on Earth. [4:09] And remember, 1776, what a time that was where we've come from there. [4:17] What a date it is. [4:19] It's a date like no other date. [4:22] From Athens to Rome, from London to Paris, from New York to L.A. and from all of the other [4:28] parts of the world. [4:29] The great civilizations of history did not wallow in aging ruins of the past. [4:34] They built new cities. [4:36] They created new monuments and they forged towering legacies that still inspire the world [4:41] after hundreds and even thousands of years. [4:44] As America turns 250 years, 250 years old, young by comparison to some, but superior to any [4:53] nation that's ever been built, no matter how many years it took. [4:58] We are the inheritors of these incredible traditions. [5:01] We are the ones who are carrying forward the light of Western civilization, because this [5:06] is the very beginning of the golden age of America. [5:10] We're in the golden age. [5:16] This anniversary is a time to be proud of our past, but it is also a time to lift our sights, [5:23] expand our ambitions and raise our expectations of what America can be. [6:47] Then on July 4th, we will have the greatest show of all on the National Mall. [6:52] Your favorite president will be speaking. [6:57] So please show up. [6:59] And soon thereafter, we'll have a Freedom 250 Grand Prix right here in Washington around the [7:06] Capitol. [7:07] But just like those patriots of 1776 over the past 17 months, we have taken power back from [7:13] the far off political class. [7:16] They're trying to gain it back, but it's not going to happen. [7:19] We have reclaimed our sovereignty, regained our liberty, restored our prosperity. [7:24] And we have saved our country in all things. [7:30] We're once again putting a thing called America first. [7:35] Last week, we signed a historic agreement to end the conflict with Iran, fully open the [7:45] Strait of Hormuz and accomplish what no president has ever been able to accomplish before. [7:51] Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. [7:54] That's done. [7:55] And thanks to the power and skill of the United States Armed Forces, today Iran has no Navy, [8:05] no Air Force, no anti-aircraft capacity, no missile launchers, no manufacturing. [8:13] And their leadership has been obliterated. [8:15] And for the first time in 3,000 years, we are finally going to have peace in the Middle [8:23] East. [8:24] We're going to have peace in the Middle East. [8:25] Since the agreement, the stock market and your 401ks are skyrocketing upward. [8:32] And oil prices are plummeting downward today. [8:36] It hit a new low. [8:37] And the world is a much safer place. [8:40] We had to make that little journey to Iran to do what we did. [8:44] Very soon you'll be at $2.50 a gallon for gasoline. [8:49] And even lower than that, just like it was before we took the nuclear weapon away from Iran. [8:58] And it will be away from Iran for a very long time. [9:03] Forever, really. [9:06] One week, Iran was essentially finished. [9:10] In one hour, Venezuela was finished. [9:13] And I guess we have other things in store, but we don't want to get carried away. [9:19] Recruitment for every branch of our armed forces so importantly is setting records. [9:25] 18 months ago, we had shortages and now we have waiting lists. [9:29] We couldn't get people to join the military. [9:31] None of them, none of the branches, they were all dying to get people. [9:35] They couldn't. [9:36] Then the thing happened on November 5th. [9:38] It's called a great election victory. [9:40] And from that moment on, now you can't even get into the military. [9:44] We have waiting lists to get into the military and to become policemen and to become firemen. [9:50] It's really fantastic what's happened. [9:52] The spirit in this country is like from a different planet from what it was a year and a half ago. [9:58] In a flawless and breathtaking operation earlier this year, [10:02] America's armed forces captured the outlaw dictator of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, [10:08] and brought him back to face American justice. [10:12] One of the great military raids in history, if you remember. [10:19] Since the agreement, the stock market and your 401ks are skyrocketing upward. [10:25] And oil prices are plummeting downward today. [10:28] It hit a new low. [10:29] And the reflecting pool that you've heard so much about, which is so incredible, [10:35] it's been gruesomely vandalized by thugs, bad people. [10:40] But soon, we'll be looking as beautiful as it looked just two weeks ago. [10:44] In fact, I looked at it just a little while ago. [10:46] It looks perfect already. [10:49] But we're fixing it. [10:50] The vandals got to it. [10:51] They've largely been caught and are being prosecuted. [10:55] We can't let that happen to our country. [10:57] Can't let that happen. [10:59] But it looks beautiful. [11:01] Under the Trump administration, America is once again a nation of self-respect, dignity, and pride. [11:09] Under our leadership, America will also be a nation that dares to dream and to build again. [11:15] We want to build again and dream again. [11:17] The American dream is alive again. [11:20] That's something that nobody thought they'd be saying when you went through that last four years of incompetence. [11:26] For the 100th anniversary of our founding in 1876, America completed the Washington Monument and the work began on the Statue of Liberty. [11:39] For our 150th year, we built Colonial Williamsburg. [11:46] Remember that Colonial Williamsburg, how beautiful it was. [11:49] For the 200th year, we built the National Air and Space Museum and renovated the United States Capitol for our 250th anniversary. [11:59] We are likewise building new monuments to American greatness to serve every future president. [12:06] And first lady, we're building the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world, right at the White House, right at the White House. [12:13] It's going to be completed very soon. [12:15] And just across the bridge in front of Arlington Cemetery, we're building a magnificent, really beautiful. [12:22] This is going to be something you're going to like a totally magnificent triumphal arc to honor the 250 year triumph of the American spirit, American military and frankly, American competence. [12:38] In West Potomac Park, we are creating the National Garden of American Heroes. [12:43] And I want to tell you something because they're going to be beyond flyovers.
