[00:00:00] Speaker 1: welcome to toy polloi hello and welcome to another video from toy polloi it is sunday the 11th of october 2026 and we are at the bath and west showground for the bulldog toy fair now there's not been a toy fair here for quite a long time so i'm really quite excited to go and have a good rummage around i've got lots of things on my wants list i could do with some more miles mayhems i'm also trying to work out how to fix mad balls and i've got some star wars projects on the go so lots of things that i need to find whether i'll find them today time will tell so let's head on into the toy fair see what we can get [00:01:15] Speaker ?: very well so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so you so you so you you you you you you Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. [00:08:07] Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And I went to see my friend Darren and he got a few bits that we'd sort of discussed to trade already. And the first of the things I picked up with him were these. Now these are Britain's Stargard figures. Again, it's another toy line that I don't really collect, but actually I've done a restoration fairly recently on my On the Cutting Mat series. I'll put a link to it, I'll put a link to that, I'll put a link to that as well in the description and I'll put a link to that as well in the description and in that video I've restored a toy that I'd remembered having as a child. And that toy line came with lots of these figures. They come in all sorts of different poses and I needed a few to sort of go with that vehicle that I now have on display here. So Darren had some bits for sale. He very kindly put these three aside for me. And it just so happens that as I was leaving the toy fair, so the very last thing I bought, I went to Lawrence Toy Planet UK store and he had a whole load more. So I grabbed those off him. So I've got another six of the Stargard figures from Lawrence. I paid £10 for these, so sort of just under £2 each and yeah, that gives me really enough of these figures. They're all in different poses. I think there's sort of five or six different poses. I've got a few others already, so I'm hoping that I can sort of mix and match and sort of put a few of them together. The weird thing with these figures is some are painted really well, some are painted really badly. The bits that are hard to find are the weapons and these little helmets. So I'm hoping, as I say, that from all of these I can put together a reasonable selection of them. So those were the first sort of mini pickups that I did. So let's move those to one side. I picked up one other single figure, which is this, which is Teela from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Another video that I've done fairly recently was fixing up the Talon Fighter and Point Dread. And in the box art for that, you see Teela is sitting in the Talon Fighter in sort of behind He-Man. I didn't have a spare Teela figure, so I picked this one up. Not in too bad condition, needs a bit of a clean. Comes with the sort of the top part of the armour, which has a broken clip, which is incredibly common. I can easily fix that. And I think I paid £5 for her. So not the cheapest of figures, but she's pretty reasonable. And the leg band is actually in pretty good condition. So just a quick clean and she will go in my Talon Fighter. I've got a couple of other small figures here. Again, these were actually trades that I sort of arranged with Darren as well. He recently bought a job lot of Micronauts and I saw when he bought them that in it was this, which is an Acroia 2 figure. It needs a little bit of work. You can see bits of it are broken off. It's incredibly loose. All of this type of toy has this issue. The legs and the arms go really loose. So you can never stand them up. But I do have a way of fixing that. So this is an Acroia 2. I've got a blue version of this toy, but I don't have this pink version. It even came with part of the backing card. As you can see, it is in pretty good condition, apart from a couple of little brakes. It's got the little sword. It has the little bird thing here. But sadly, one of the pegs that holds this part on, this little sort of turbo blade thing, has snapped off. So that won't stay in place. And as I showed you, it's very loose and floppy. So it's going to need a little bit of restoration work, but another nice item. You don't see these particularly often at Toy Fair. Certainly Micronauts is getting harder and harder to find. So very pleased to have that one. And he very kindly included this, which is the bare remains of a Micronaut time traveller. It's got one hand. It's missing both feet. The little pegs are broken off. I have a whole box of Micronaut time travellers that are like this. Every once in a while, I get enough parts that I can put another one together. So this is going to go in my box of spares. And I'm hoping in future I will find some more pieces and I can actually rebuild some of these time travellers. So that's the first selection of things that I found today. All really nice items, but I also picked up some other bits. I was hoping to find lots of vintage Star Wars bits there because I've got lots of Star Wars projects on the go. But actually I didn't find a huge amount. The only things I did pick up were two mini rigs. I picked up this one, which I can never remember the name of. I've recently done a video showing how to repair an Int 4 mini rig and people seem to enjoy that. So I thought I'd try and get a couple more that have very common issues. This one, I'm just intrigued by it. I've always liked this mechanism, the way the wheels sort of spring back and forwards. It's often missing the gun, as you can see here. So I thought that might be a fun project to work on. Really, I just want to take one apart and see how it's constructed and see how this spring mechanism works. Because I would kind of like one that is actually flat most of the time and then maybe has some sort of release mechanism that you can let it go. And it pings up like that because I think this vehicle is more fun in that sort of setup than it is like that. That's a potential future project. Then I picked up this one, another one I can never remember the name of. But it always has this problem that the little turret piece here has broken off. There are supposed to be two clips on either side. As you can see, oh, actually one of the clips is there but a bit melted. The other one has snapped off. So this no longer stays in place. And it looks like this one has probably been sellotaped in place for many years. So I thought that might also be quite a fun project to work out a way to repair that. If you want to see any more mini rig videos on the channel, then do let me know in the comments which ones you'd like me to work on. I'm certainly happy to work on more in the future as they are quite fun little vehicles. Generally pretty cheap and easy to buy. This one I think actually cost a pound. Oh, that's how much I paid for it today. And this one I paid three pounds for. So, yeah, pretty cheap and could be some fun projects in the future. I also got this one other Star Wars item, which is a Palatoy card back for FX7. This actually was a freebie because I'd already done a little trade with Joe from Time Tunnel Toys. And I saw that he had this on his stall. And I said, you know, how much do you want for it? And he just goes, oh, just take it. So thank you, Joe. That was very kind of you. As you can see, it is a fairly battered card. There's lots of bits of it missing. And obviously the nameplate has been cut away. But it is a Palatoy card and it's got a fairly nice back to it. And I can actually see that some child has obviously written on another piece of paper and used this as a something to lean on because it actually says there snaggletooth nine. And then I can't sort of read the rest of it, but it clearly says snaggletooth there in Charles writing. In fact, if I put this towards the camera, you might just be able to see what I can see there in the light. So I like things like that. It just gives it a little bit of history. But it's actually, otherwise, apart from being a sort of tatty card back, it's still quite a nice card back. And that will actually look pretty good behind some of my Star Wars figures. So massive thanks to Joe for very kindly giving me this. That is going to go straight in my collection. I also got one other sort of semi-carded figure, which is this, which is the Star Trek Next Generation Galoob figure. And this is Lieutenant Worf. I don't think many people collect these. I really like these figures. I think they are much better than the Playmates figures. They're much simpler, a bit more like Star Wars figures. And the sort of sculpts and the painting on them are really nice. As you can see, this was a carded figure at some point, but the blister has fallen away. So it's now a loose figure. So we have a nice version of Worf there. He comes with a tricorder that sits on a handy loop. So you can just put that over his arm. And he's got a phaser already built into his hand. And he's got bendable knees, so slightly better than a Star Wars figure. I just think these are really nice. There's not that many of them to collect. So if you want to collect the whole wave, I think it's about, what's it on the back there? It looks like there's six or seven. You can see we can get Picard, Riker, Data, Geordi, Tasha, Worf, and a Ferengi. I actually think I've got five of these so far, maybe six. So maybe it's just the Ferengi that I need to get. It may be that there are others in sort of second waves, but I don't remember those. It's just a nice sort of figure to collect. And I think they do look particularly good. So that was a really nice one as well. So big thanks to Darren who sorted me out with this one. And then we come on to the two final things that I picked up, which are the largest things that I got today. And that's these two Mego dolls. So these are 12-inch Mego dolls, and these are from the Star Trek, the motion picture. And we've got Spock and Kirk, both of which are in remarkably good condition for the age. Normally with the 12-inch figures, the Mego 12-inch figures, the knees break. The pins on the knees are particularly weak. And both of these seem to have fairly good knees. The outfits themselves are just a little bit dirty and a bit worn. There's a few seams coming undone. I can see they're on the knee. They're starting to come undone. So that needs to be re-sewn. They're both missing the little piece that I think sits on the front there. Kirk is missing his little insignia there. And as you can see, they both have the standard grey heads, a very common issue with Mego dolls. But otherwise, these are in remarkably good condition. A good clean, and I think they will tidy up very nicely. So far from the 12-inch Mego Star Trek line, I've only got Ilea. I wanted to get a couple more of them because I do think they're very nice. I think the way they've made the uniforms is really particularly good. And the sculpts on the faces do actually look like the actors. So yeah, nice little pick up there. I can see Kirk actually has a very chewed boot. So I might need to find a replacement of that. But otherwise, yeah, they are very nice. And these actually only cost me £20 for the pairs. So that I think was a particularly good sort of value purchase. And certainly I'm going to look forward to getting them fixed up and repaired. But they don't look bad to start with. But a good clean, a bit of sewing, and maybe a bit of sort of fabrication to make the bits that are missing there. And a new emblem on them. Yeah, and I think those will look really nice. And they will fit in with the rest of my Star Trek Mego collection. So there we go. That is it for my pickups today at the Bath & West Bulldog Toy Fair. This has always been my favourite toy fair. I've been going to it for many, many years. And every time I go, I seem to come back with something new and something wonderful to add to my collection. So if you're in the local area, I would suggest always popping down to it. Because there's always something to be found. And it's always really nice to chat to lots of the stallholders there. But I guess because I've been going so long, I do know a lot of people by name. So it's really nice to be able to chat to them and ask questions about the sort of toys that they have. And also learn something about the toys. One of the things I was hoping to find today was mad balls. I didn't find any, but I had a good chat with a few people who I know collect them and sell them. And so I was able to learn a lot about them. And hopefully I'll be able to find a mad ball in future because I do want to get on with a project about how to repair them. So maybe next time I will be able to find one. But in the meantime, I've got a nice lot of projects here to go and work on. Hopefully you have enjoyed this video.
