Top 10 Most Valuable Fisher Price Little People

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: hello everybody welcome back to commonwealth collections this video is about a toy that is almost there's no toy that is ubiquitous with childhood over the last seven decades not just in the united states but really in the western world as a whole and also ubiquitous with all the garage sales that are out there you seem to find these all the time and some of them can be worth significant money we are going to talk about fisher price little people today like i said seven decades these things have changed quite a bit from 1959 up until today they're still producing them they look quite a bit different there's no doubt about it we're going to talk about the ones that you can find out there that can be worth substantial money thanks for joining us let's go take a look i think you will be pleasantly surprised by some of the values of these little people sets and even individual figures the ones that me and you played with when we were kids shoot my parents played with these my kids played with these their kids are going to play with these there's a whole new genre that's coming out right now that we're going to kind of steer clear of i'm going to mention it here right at the very beginning the collaborations did not start in the late 1950s 60s you started to see those i think sesame street was one of the first ones that came out and then in the 80s in the 90s especially with disney and now you're seeing collaborations with just about everything some very strange things like stranger things for instance i just sold one from wicked and there's a wizard of oz one that's not wicked there's all kinds of these interesting mean girls has a collaboration with little people we're going to steer clear of that even though some of them have decent value i think i just sold a little people wicked set for like 60 bucks or something like that but we're going to look at the ones not just from the 50s 60s 70s we're going to also look at the ones from the early 2000s some of them can hold some significant value as well and we're going to have a huge runners-up list that i'm going to go through really quick right now now on this video you're going to have the chunkier new ones that they started to produce i believe in the late 90s you know it started off with the wooden figures and then wooden and plastic and then just plastic and i think they thought it was a choking hazard because they got a lot more chunky maybe it's because they're representing what we look like in america as we went through the decades but we're going to look at those and some of the runners up from both right now so i've already mentioned the brand new collaborations and there are a bunch but there are some that aren't necessarily collaborations you have a thanksgiving scene with pilgrims you've got a nativity set you've got multiple different nativity sets that have significant value i'll hope to be popping some of these on the screen as we're going through the runners up and then we'll get to number 10 and then roll through them the children's hospital now remember these things if you can find them largely intact or intact you're going to do pretty good just a side note you can sell some of the individual little figures even the dog with its different variations and make a little bit of money so a lot of times the garage says you won't find full sets but you'll find individual pieces that go with those full sets and people want to make them and so sometimes they're worth picking up for sure i do it all the time i've got the sophie as a figure in a lot of these different ones especially the disney ones i believe and there's a bluebird stamp and some different ones that's a name to look out for the houseboat from the 1970s is fairly rare and that one can have significant value as well you know 50 to 150 dollars you'll find the wheelies ranging in massive price ranges and depending on the collaboration you'll find those as well the complete airport whenever you can find these complete even though the airport was mass produced can bring good value as well sometimes around a hundred dollars like i said the early ones did not did not collaborate they just had themes and you kind of played the way you wanted to play and the western town was a good one that ranges all over in prices too i've seen it as high as like 125 bucks the hospital the camper set the a-frame house very hard to find these in complete condition but i have come across i think i just sold the barn the other day with all the pieces you know the one that moves when you open up the thing and i got like 60 bucks for that one so you can find these nearly complete or complete but sometimes it's pretty hard and i still gotta look for those individual figures out there that go with those more valuable sets because people will want to there's one in particular i'll mention it's in the top 10 but the figures for that set go for really good money on their own so the ones i just mentioned including that barn if you can find them complete and mint can range between you know 50 all the way up to 250 dollars so hard for me to leave some of these out and put them in the runners up especially this one that we're going to leave out and it's snorky it's the fireman set i believe there was two different types of these 1960 and 61 two different numbers on them and by the way all of these that you're going to see just a second in the top 10 sometimes there are multiple different renditions of these particular sets and so the values do range rather significantly this one right here is that snorky fireman said i have found the the fireman before the arms are almost always broken but there's different collars on the dog and that can really change the value but the snorky fire engine set i imagine if you could find an immaculate clean very nice complete set would probably sneak into the top 10 for sure but that's that we're going to leave out so keep that in mind when we're going through these the years the dates the different versions there's even figures that are supposedly heirs that you can see go for crazy money i don't know enough about that i do know that there are some fakes and fraudsters out there so i'm staying away from that although i do think for sure that there are different variations created at different times that carry significantly more value so keep that in mind before i hit number 10 i thought i'd pull out this chart says that over the last three years there is a 42 42 42.55 increase in the value of fisher price little people and a lot of that has to do with the more recent ones that are really becoming collectible things that i used to pass up at yard sales in the early 2000s because they were brand new toys that could be had everywhere but some of those are really starting to carry value and so we'll have some of those mixed in but keep in mind that the increase in value is not just because of the age of those ones that we'll mention here but some of the other ones are from the 2000s late 90s early 2000s late you know like 2008 2011 there's some really good ones as well so this is a growing collectible right here and it stretches across generations so i suspect that this will continue to grow for decades to come especially because now they're being marketed with the new collaborations to older folks and they're still producing this stuff for the younger folks so it's interesting to see where these will go maybe some of them will hit these check out fisher plop fisher price little people juice glasses blew my mind i didn't even know they existed we're going to call the glasses our number 10 and you can expect to get for one single glass 40 50 50 60 maybe you get the whole set you could get two to three hundred dollars for the set number nine is going to be the generic amusement park and they can come in i gotta look at my notes here around to the top of the line here complete mint condition you could get 275 there may be two different sets it was difficult for me to tell in my research but you know depending on the condition how many pieces you have you know it has a huge variety of prices but i've seen them as high as 275 bucks now that's not to be confused with the disney magic kingdom one that came a little later which is of course not generic it would not reach into our top 10 but if you can find that thing pristine and i think it has a teacup set that sells pretty well by itself and there's even a modern version a more modern version of it's a small world that goes for good money but the old amusement set complete very hard to find can bring big bucks number eight i'm gonna put the halloween sets there's different versions there's little sets there's a halloween house i think maybe a halloween barn possibly there's a bunch of different little carts and figures almost any of that stuff is worth money that is the stuff to find i believe you know 1999 early 2000s individual figures sometimes there's a masked sheep that has got like a halloween mask you see that little people sheep out there a lot both in the old version and the modern version both have value but the one with the mask can bring okay money anything halloween i'd pick it up a full set i believe of the halloween house it's gonna definitely get you two hundred dollars on up even some of the smaller sets if you can find them new in the package will bring two hundred dollars outside of the package they bring crazy money so this is gonna be number eight but in reality if you have a whole bunch of this stuff you run across it it's gonna go up there and maybe it should be higher which reminds me before we hit number seven i am certainly not an expert in this i know a little bit because i've been out there hunting at garage sales and flea markets and thrift stores but we're not going to get this perfectly right so i will miss some things especially some individual figures out there so let me know down below what you know and what you're finding and let's add to the discussion including not just my top 10 list here but some other things that i may have missed because we're only looking a few years back into this and there might be some figures that are so rare that only you know if you're willing to share them down below in the comments i'd appreciate it i'm not positive but i believe one of the very first collaborations was with sesame street i have bought and sold the individual sesame street figures when i find them i think the count is one of the big ones that goes for okay money and you've seen these before i had this set when i was a kid love this set i believe there are two different sets two different buildings if i remember correctly but to find this thing complete is not easy in good condition and there's a wide range but we're going to put this one at number seven and say you can expect to get in the upper 200s for an absolutely complete one that's mint not even in the box i can only imagine what something like that brand new in the box would actually bring so we're just we're looking we're not looking at brand new stuff here we're looking at used stuff and you can expect a set like that perfect and complete well over 200 maybe creeping up towards 300 number six is one that i have never found i've probably found bits and pieces to it and not knew what it was to exactly but it's the holiday in set and i believe i'm gonna guess this is from the 70s as well and that set which there's not many out there complete there's not money sold or listed but that set i've seen go as high as like 295 if you ever see any holiday and little people stuff out there you're probably good to pick it up even if it's not complete because you can sell off the parts and pieces because i don't think that one was heavily produced when you compare it to some of the traditional ones out there like the airport and the hospital and the gas stations and all those things speaking of the airport in my limited research there's apparently different boxes maybe you know you can tell us below but the airport with a red box is going to bring far more money than maybe the blue box or something like that so there's a few things that it's pretty difficult for me to nail down sometimes but that airport one just like anything else if you can find it complete you can get good money i find a lot of the airplanes out there they're usually not in very good shape and they're usually not anywhere near complete and they can sell but sometimes it's not worth your time number four is the fisher price safety school bus this was the very first one produced i believe in 1959 this kind of sets it all in motion which is just kind of mind-blowing to me to think that some of your grandparents were out there playing with this stuff my parents may have been as well although knowing my grandfather probably not but the 1959 fisher price school bus safety school bus i think they were a little taller figures they were all wood and this one set it all in motion a lot of times you'll see it with the well a lot of times sometimes you'll see it with the box which adds significant value to it but a complete set of the original figures with the school bus which was a pull toy bus i think i've seen one and it was priced really high at a indoor sale one time and i passed up on it but at this point with this stuff going up in value the collectibles market is going up i think you know going back a couple years that price that maybe seemed high then wouldn't seem so high now because some of these guys are going up past 300 and complete sets you could think you could get 250 to maybe 400 for this hey we're headed to the top you number three is something i have found the castle i have found many parts and pieces to the castle i don't know if they produced this over multiple years my guess is they did i have found the pink dragon many times it stands out the thrones the king and the queen the horse and the collar and all the stuff that goes with it all that stuff sells for pretty good money on its own a lot them up in little lots or sometimes i just sell the dragon itself sometimes pieces and parts are broken i have never found one complete i have never found a box i would love to because these will run anywhere between 150 dollars to 400 plus dollars i have to mention this before we get to the top two and that is the pre-packaged stuff the stuff the new old stock still in the package figures can go for crazy money we're leaving that out but i have seen some things that i just want to point out to some folks that i doubt you'll find out there but i've seen multiple sales of versions that were sold in mexico even if it's just a couple of figures in a package that go for insane money into the hundreds i think i saw one for 750 dollars a comp near a thousand dollars one time so to find the fisher price stuff that is extremely rare that was made outside of the or sold outside of the united states there are so many fisher price collectors that want every set ever made and sometimes once they get there or get close they're gonna go and start to look for those versions and the packaging from other places but let's hit the top two number two is not from the olden days it's from the more modern days not the very recent days but the disney clip clock clip clop castles i think there's a bell's cottage as well but there's one particular figure that was sold in a smaller set if you can find the jasmine figure in that set if you can find it in the box we're talking like seven eight hundred dollars it wouldn't surprise me to see it be up to a thousand as quickly as these things are selling that one is one that people are clamoring over for sure but the castle the princess castle with like the little slides and the little stables and the figures on the little horses those things go for good money i have no doubt i have ran across those before and didn't think twice about them many moons ago but i'm looking for them now and there are any parts any pieces to that if you can find that whole big set in a box that might be a thousand dollar piece if it's not now it will be soon pretty crazy but those particular sets even pre-owned not complete can bring you significant money but definitely look out for the jasmine one okay we've made it to number one it's been one that i've looked out for over the years found parts and pieces one time found a box with a bunch in it it wasn't complete and honestly i think this one is being over overtaken as we speak but i'm going to still keep this one at number one because it is very findable these parts and pieces to the mcdonald's play set there may have been two i'm familiar with one that i look for but the mcdonald's play set from fisher price little people is very findable and always brings good money complete we're into the hundreds of dollars four or five to hundred dollars for a complete set and if you get a box even if it's pre-owned five maybe six hundred dollars and it is out there so i think it is currently being overtaken if this video you know is filmed a year from now i think it's going to be overtaken by number two without a doubt and i think it's definitely worth looking for out there if you find a brand
