The Retro Toys Making a Huge Comeback in 2026 — This Morning

And as the brands get older, the fans, the original ones, they get older too. So this is the kid-old market. But there are new young people finding these every day as well. So we're going to begin with Winnie the Pooh is celebrating 100 years. So the first book, A.A. Milne's book, came out in 1926. Isn't that incredible? So they're celebrating... They're made so well, haven't they? Oh, just so well. And it's such a big, big brand. So these are the plushies. These are the 100 plushies. So we've got to look at Pooh. It feels so nice. And they're so lovely. So 100 years, £14.99 for each one of them. I'd be tempted to buy one and keep it wrapped somewhere. Yeah, leave it in the box or something like that. It's a big anniversary and it's just, yeah, I mean, who doesn't love Winnie the Pooh, right? No. Who doesn't love that? Not one person out there. Now, the 90s feels to me like it wasn't that long ago. Pokemon! But it is. It is. So Pokemon celebrating a huge 30 years, can you believe it or not, since the trading card game came out. Still massive now. People are still going and they're trading and they're also playing the actual game and battling each other. It's still a really, really big thing. How do you know when you've got a really good card? If you know, you know. If you know, you know. There are apps. There are apps you can use that will rate and grade and also will tell you what your card is worth currently as well in the current market. It's really, really good. So, they've got loads coming out. They've got a 30th anniversary collection. So, there's all sorts. This is Pikachu holding a Pokeball with 30th written on the front just there. That's 24. That's so cool. $24.99 for that one. Even Grind Coffee are in on it doing a little tie-in with some really lovely branded tins for £15.95 for their speciality coffee. This is cool. I'm going to quickly show you this. I love this. So, this is Pikachu. This is Puppetronics and it'll actually do some little... Whoa! Oh, my gosh! Pikachu. Pikachu. It's Pikachu. Pikachu. It's so cool, isn't it? Makes loads of noises as well, but I won't switch Pikachu on because then we'll never hear the end of it. But anyway, that's £79.99. And Lego. Look, this is Eevee. What a wonderful character. That is Lego Eevee just there as all for £54.99. And Lego have got loads of brand tie-ins with other big brands, including, obviously, Stranger Things. And even the action figures are a bit retro looking. They look a bit like the old Kenneth Soars. That's so cool. Just really, really lovely. Again, just keep them in the boxes and you'll be worth so much money. Could do, but I'd be so tempted to play with them. I really, really would. And they have a Care Bears tie-in as well. Look at this. So, this is Funshine Bear as Dustin. Can you look at this? It's hilarious. Oh, my God. So brilliant, isn't it? I mean, such a young brand, as in for young people. Look at the hair. It's got my hair. Yeah, it's got such history now that there is all these amazing tie-ins. They're $14.99 for the Care Bears. Care Bears are also doing Harry Potter as well, which is also celebrating an anniversary over here. So, 2001 is when the Philosopher's Stone movie came out. So, that's 25 years ago. Oh, my word. I can't believe it. I know. Isn't that incredible? It doesn't feel very long ago at all. No. So, there's, again, so many products. I mean, it's always around, right? You always see toys and... For Harry Potter. Yeah, and clothing, but it's as big as it ever was and people are still finding it now. So, things you can get are, so, like, crystal art, you know, the little art gems that you put onto things there. So, they start at $3.99, which is really great fun. Look at that. There's a blind ball as a golden snitch from Harry Potter. That's, like, an OG original type of blind ball. And what's inside there, then? A little doll. They're so collectible. Oh, really? So, they're celebrating 10 years. Steve, I don't know these guys. Who are they? LOL. LOL Surprise. Big, big business from 2016 onwards. And they've done a brand tie-in. Here, look. They're doing bigger dolls tied in with Hello Kitty, which is awesome. Oh, the little doll guys. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And the big dolls, Hello Kitty tie-in. Hello Kitty's celebrating 50 years. Now, that was the must-have toy in 2016. And, of course, in 1996, the must-have toy was Buzz Lightyear, the doll. Yes. Everyone wanted it. Amazingly, big brands like Hasbro and Mattel turned it down. Did they? I know. Yeah. So, anyway, the toy company that produced them, made a lot of money, and Buzz was, like, the toy to have. And now you can buy new versions, because the new movie's coming out on the 19th of June, Toy Story 5. Taylor Swift's song also released this morning. Wow. As well. Really? What? She's in the film. In addition to Steve Wilson. I knew you is the song, just because she's done the soundtrack. But these are called Interactables, and they, if you press them, if we listen... So Funko Pop, really, really great. They start at 13 quid. I've got to move you on to your favourite movie. I actually went to... Your favourite movie, right? [00:08:14] Speaker 3: An amazing fact, apart from the fact that it's 50 years, it's in its 50th year now, the movie, came out in 1975, but still celebrating 50 years, is that Bruce was what they nicknamed the mechanical shark in the movie, but they tested it in freshwater, and when they came to film with it in saltwater, it kept malfunctioning. Didn't work, did it? Yeah. Didn't work. So in the end, it nearly shut down the whole movie. Yeah. I don't know what to do. [00:08:35] Speaker 1: That's why these came into play. Yeah. Believe it or not, 30 years old is the Tamagotchi. I remember those. We all had them. We had to feed them. We all wanted them. Yes, absolutely. And if you went somewhere and you give it to someone else, please look after my Tamagotchi. Please look after them. You've got to keep it going. You have to feed it and stuff. Yeah. That's right. You've got to feed it, take it to the toilet. You can actually get the Gen 1. This is the original, so you can get the reproduction of that now for $19.99, plus ones which are called Connection Ones, which actually will react to one another. They're so brilliant.
