[0:37] a team like brazil the chances that we give them the game you expect to get punished and that's what [0:42] that's what happened uh chances at the moment i think we're probably going home goal as well so we gave them the goals but on the counter that they also missed a [1:49] few chances and angus had to make a few good saves so on that one on us was to try and create something [1:57] second half we got the ball in the box a number of times we created one or two chances but nothing [2:02] really clean when you look at the when you look at brazil's attacking play in the final third of [2:07] the pitch and you look at ours there's really no comparison john mcgarry from the daily mail steve [2:14] notwithstanding the the mistakes how far beneath scotland's level do you think that was that they [2:20] produced we definitely didn't play as we can play but when you put yourself in the back foot like we [2:27] did against morocco you're always just relying on a bit of grit and of the best third but do you are you convinced that you have [5:07] the quality to come to compete in the knockout stages with what you've seen tonight you always [5:14] have to be convinced that your team can compete in the knockout stage we gave morocco a really good [5:19] game uh world number six probably a very scottish thing that we managed to win the first game that [5:26] everyone said was a winnable game we managed to do that and then we well next two opponents are world [5:30] number five us are world number six and world number five but we we offer we obviously have to be better [5:35] against that type of opponent and the best way to do that is not to give them any goals steve it's not [5:41] often you seem frustrated or even angry with your players it feels like that tonight i'm definitely not [5:47] angry and i'm not prickly i think that's one of the words you like as well definitely not that either [5:54] you can finish if you want you finish your question no i you they're going to be very competitive in the competition i would expect them [6:33] to go deep whether that's semi-final final i've certainly got the quality in the final third of the [6:40] pitch to do that hi steve alan patolo from the scotsman um three no down on the hour mark against [6:49] brazil it's a it's a tough place to be can you take anything at all from that the last half an [6:54] hour when when when scotland did dig in and could possibly have preserved a world cup dream yeah we [6:59] dug in came it became a little bit a game of basketball they were waiting for us to or brazil were [7:04] waiting to get a chance to overturn the possession and and attack us and they did that a few times we [7:09] managed to get back and defend that like i said angus made a few decent saves at that stage of the game [7:14] and we did create some half chances to to get the the goal that would have made it a little bit [7:22] better in terms of what everyone wants to talk about about the goal difference uh robert mendick [7:30] from the uh daily telegraph do you have a sort of message to fans who've obviously spent a lot [7:35] of money they've got another four days to wait spending a lot more money do you think they should [7:40] stay and hang out and see if you're going to make it or do you think they should just go home and then [7:44] come back frankly i mean in other words what do you what do you think you're going to get through or not [7:49] you want me to make that decision for the people that are out here well i'm not sure that i'm not [7:56] sure that's in my remit as a head coach fans are fantastic they've been absolutely brilliant but [8:02] don't forget that this group of players brought these fans to america this group of players qualified [8:07] it's why the scottish journalists are here otherwise we're doing what we always do we're sitting on the [8:12] sofa and we're watching scotland on the television at a world cup sorry we're watching world cup without [8:18] scotland so the fans appreciate what this group of players have done for them they've had a great [8:25] time great ambassadors for the country but they wouldn't be here without that
