confronted him [0:41] on her sunday morning program about all of his lies ranging from covet 19 to the link between [0:47] autism and vaccines to the measles outbreak and his role in it now dana bash was being very polite there [0:53] saying that he has caused information to be out there that is not accurate rfk jr is simply lying [1:00] to the american people to pretend as though he has the appreciate it um you have been placing nearly all the blame on the [1:30] covid pandemic and the way that the u.s responded to it squarely with dr fauci but of course he worked [1:38] for president trump does president trump also deserve some of the blame well you know president trump as [1:45] you recall wanted to and the lockdowns i think the thing that did the most damage to our country was [1:53] the lockdowns the lockdowns that shut down 3.5 million businesses in our country with no due process [2:01] no just compensation all of our churches closed our schools and our children are still paying the price [2:07] for that and yet we had the worst outcome of any country in the world how so we have the highest death [2:15] rate from covet of any nation on earth well let me just let me just say because i've heard you say [2:20] that before on the death rate from covid um it's not accurate because public health experts say that [2:29] there is a combination of factors that went into that higher rates of chronic illnesses which i know you [2:34] would agree with gaps to our health care system and misinformation about vaccines you just said what i [2:40] said was inaccurate what i said was accurate we have the highest death rate from covet of any [2:45] people there are there are there are other countries that had higher but you can go ahead about why we [2:52] had that but um you nobody can tell you i mean we have as you say we have the highest chronic disease [3:00] burden in the world but anthony fauci was mismanaging the coveted pandemic and he was doing it under the [3:07] biden administration president trump wanted to end the lockdowns and in fact in anthony fauci's diaries [3:15] he talks about how president trump is calling him every day trying to get him to reopen the country [3:21] yeah well the lockdowns were done by governors i mean certainly anthony fauci and the president [3:27] had opinions but the lockdowns were done by governors and largely because and largely because [3:33] largely because they were hearing they were hearing from hospitals saying that their icus were overrun and [3:39] they needed some help while that was happening that's just not true what you're saying is not [3:45] true no they were doing it because anthony fauci was telling them from the top you need to lock down [3:51] there were icus that were empty all over the country including in new york at the height i i'm asking you [3:58] i'm going to go back to what i asked you at the beginning which is president trump and he was the guy in [4:05] charge and he you tweeted back in 2024 that he let bureaucrats like anthony fauci shut down the entire [4:14] country um again he the president was in charge the president was trying to reopen the country when he [4:22] left the country was they was kept closed for another year almost a year and a half after that [4:28] of course rfk jr has to blame anthony fauci and joe biden for the covet 19 pandemic and not donald trump [4:34] the guy who was the president of the united states at the time because if rfk jr would have done that [4:39] donald trump would have fired him right after that interview because all donald trump cares about is his [4:44] fragile little ego not telling the truth the american people as a matter of fact rfk jr lied about [4:51] america having the highest death rate there are a number of other countries that had higher death [4:55] rates than us and countries that had around our death rate but were severely under reporting the [5:00] cases that they had also rfk jr complaining that the lockdowns hurt our economy when it's estimated that [5:07] the lockdowns helped to reduce the mortality rate by two percent in the united states 27 in brazil and up to [5:14] 60 percent in italy and spain so rfk jr here lying let's talk about how to prevent the next pandemic [5:23] because there's a lot of litigating and relitigating that i don't think is really helpful to do with [5:28] regard to covid and the question is about uh so-called gain of function which uh for people who aren't [5:36] entirely clear about it it is it is a highly risky research process that includes manipulating a virus [5:44] to study how it behaves as it evolves now what scientists say is that although it's controversial [5:51] it's necessary to prepare for the next pandemic to get ahead of it to figure out what these viruses can [5:57] do what you want to end this gain of function research some scientists say isn't it better just [6:05] to put better guard rails around it people have been trying to put guard rails around it for [6:12] generations and it hasn't worked and clearly covet 19 pandemic and many other global pandemics that [6:19] we have have come from gain of function research the rsv epidemic that we have that is the biggest killer [6:27] of kids in this country today came from these kind of experiments the lyme disease almost certainly came [6:34] from this kind of research so um and the scientists who you say are experts are making the argument that [6:43] this is necessary for pandemic response cannot point to one instance in history where research that came [6:51] out of this kind of experimentation has actually provided us something beneficial so how do you prepare [7:00] then how do you prepare for the next pandemic i mean that's literally part of your job now because [7:05] experts think it's going to happen within the next 10 years again yeah i mean i think we did virtually [7:10] everything wrong the last time so but what about now the principal thing that we need to do is we [7:15] need to listen to what's happening to doctors on the ground there are 15 million front line physicians [7:22] around the world they're mainly now connected through the internet we can tell on the front lines what's [7:29] working and what's not if we had listened to those doctors during the covet pandemic we would have saved [7:35] potentially millions of lives there were therapeutics out there that were working there were doctors [7:42] that were having no deaths from covid and treating in some cases thousands of patients and we weren't [7:48] listening to them instead we were doing the opposite we were shutting them down and then dana the other [7:53] thing that i would say is that um we need to protect our constitutional rights that that is the primary [8:01] obligation what does that mean well during covet we completely dismantled our constitutional rights [8:07] we began censoring people in violation but i'm not you're at you're saying what not to do i'm asking [8:13] what to do um but i but i want to talk about something to do that's that is the number one priority [8:19] we protect the constitution the constitution was forgive me but you're just you're talking about [8:25] rights and i'm asking about a potential public health crisis that is that is coming but i do want to [8:32] let's and one of the mistakes we made in the last time was suppressing those rights so people weren't [8:38] being heard doctors who were saying you're doing it wrong we're being marginalized and vilified and [8:46] because because again i really want to move on but yeah you were saying you were part of the problem [8:53] no i wasn't it was absolute press malpractice you weren't allowing your mr secretary your job your job [9:02] is a fierce skepticism toward authority and you weren't doing that you i am my job is dissenting no [9:10] okay are you gonna you want to sit here and attack me or do you want to have conversations about [9:14] i'm not attacking you i'm asking questions about how to let me ask the question and i'll tell you [9:20] that's what i'm trying to do but i also don't want to use this interview to allow you to say things that [9:27] aren't entirely true you're talking about therapeutics fine it is also factually true that the covid vaccine [9:34] worked the covid vaccine prevented deaths there is data upon data upon data more absurd claims from rfk [9:41] junior here one that gain of function research caused global pandemics when gain of function research is [9:48] the main thing driving vaccines for global research because all it is is scientists mimicking virus strains [9:57] so that they can create vaccines and doing this in controlled labs even dana bash describing it as [10:04] risky is also kind of absurd but that just goes to show you how the far right and the maha movements [10:12] attacks on science and gain of function research has destroyed the uh the global uh discourse about [10:21] science let's talk about the measles please because this is something that is happening [10:26] as as we speak uh the cases in the u.s protected children i think that what i have talked to scientists [10:36] and doctors about just can you look can you show me one study yes i can it shows that i can [10:42] children were protected by the covet vaccine i i can tell you that there are seeing did more good than [10:48] harm to children can you show me one study that shows that i can tell you that when it comes to the [10:53] vaccine there have been studies that show that because of vaccine disinformation disinformation there [11:00] could have been 100 to 200 000 lives in the u.s saved but because people didn't get the vaccine [11:08] that's why i'm not saying that it entire you are saying nonsense you are saying something that you [11:13] cannot show me okay a single i am not saying nonsense you are talking what somebody told you [11:20] excuse me and you let me cite me what study what what study no what studies are you talking about [11:25] you're talking about studies that actually don't exist i want to talk about i am not you're talking [11:31] about i am not you say you've seen studies cite me the study this is not productive i am not here to [11:37] defend all of the practice let me let me you're talking nonsense you're making assertions you can't [11:41] support and then when i call you on there you're telling me i'm arguing okay do you want to talk [11:46] about you want to talk about assertions that you can't support i'll get there in a second let me just [11:51] say for the record that i am not saying that the entire way that the covid uh reaction was accurate it [11:58] was a scary time and people made mistakes absolutely you were scaring people why are you saying that [12:05] because that was the job of cnn okay was to put the chyron's up okay how many people are we were [12:11] trying to be we were listening to the leaders in this country including the president who had a daily [12:18] press conference explaining what was going on and trying to listen were you listen i want to talk to [12:23] me this actually were you reading the measles the measles cases in the u.s just reached a 35 year high [12:30] the second uh record-breaking year in a row 93 percent of these cases are among the unvaccinated [12:37] the outbreak has happened on your watch and even before becoming hhs secretary for years you have [12:44] been one of the leading voices questioning the efficacy of vaccines do you accept some responsibility [12:52] for this measles outbreak absolutely not first of all this is an international outbreak so and we're [13:00] doing better at handling it than any country in the world mexico has 15 times the amount of measles [13:07] per capita that we have canada has four times the amount of measles england has two times the amount [13:13] of measles did i cause those measles outbreaks you're the most famous did i cause 137 000 cases [13:20] you're the most famous vaccine skeptic on the planet let me tell you because actually anthony fauci [13:26] in his diaries answers the question about why we're having a measles outbreak right now the reason [13:32] we're having a measles outbreak because of the covid lockdowns because people didn't like children [13:37] during that period did not get vaccinated and in his diaries he says this is going to cause [13:44] massive outbreaks of measles and more children he says this are going to die let me finish because [13:50] you could accuse me of something let me no i didn't i asked you a question yeah let me give you the [13:55] answer he says in his diaries more children are going to die from measles because of these lockdowns [14:02] than covid so if you want to know and that age group that should have gotten the mmr when they're 18 [14:08] months and didn't get it they're the ones being infected the people in this country and we have [14:14] stopped the outbreaks at record speed in south carolina and texas in utah and virginia we've done better [14:21] than any country in the world i dispatch immediately the epidemic intelligence services to those states [14:27] i get on the phone with the governor and we stop and they're trying to nobody else been able to do [14:31] that you have a bully let me tell you just one last thing go ahead the the communities that are [14:38] suffering from measles are almost all religious communities that just don't vaccinate even the [14:45] mennonites have not vaccinated since 1796 since edward jenner invented the smallpox vaccine it's hard to [14:53] blame that i mean as much as you want to blame no i don't want to blame you i'm asking you because [14:57] you have a very powerful voice on these issues for people who are skeptical back let me finish let me [15:02] finish and i've never questioned the efficacy of the mmr vaccine okay let me let me finish what i want [15:09] you to do is please use your bully pulpit to right now as we're getting close to back to school say [15:17] are you willing to say to parents who have not vaccinated their kids that they should vaccinate [15:21] their kids for measles because it is safe and it will help them save their children's lives [15:27] i i we tell people on my websites my public right now i'll say right now that people parents should get [15:34] their children vaccinated for measles a measles vaccine is effective it it stops measles in about [15:41] 97 of the cases well people should get vaccinated one step forward and two steps back for rfk junior [15:48] here because dana bash did make some progress with him got him to tell parents across the country the [15:54] millions of people who are going to watch this that their kids need to get vaccinated for measles but [15:58] then he also spread mistruths disinformation about anthony fauci and his diary and him being concerned [16:04] about a measles outbreak that part was true but he left out the fact that anthony fauci was advising [16:10] donald trump on all of this and donald trump couldn't do anything about potentially vaccinating [16:15] kids for measles because of people like rfk junior and the maha movement and the anti-vax movement and [16:23] donald trump is such a coward and again doesn't care about americans health he just cared about holding [16:29] onto power so he catered to these people and didn't do anything about the disruptions that [16:35] covet 19 had and to have 19 caused in the measles scheduled for millions of children donald trump [16:43] is the one to blame for this measles outbreak rfk junior and his ilk these maha liars are the ones [16:51] to blame i ask you the wall street journal reported that the president is pressuring you to conduct [16:57] studies probing the link between vaccines and autism is that true did you say probing the link that [17:04] what what the wall i'm just quoting the wall street journal that they that the president wants you to [17:09] go further to probe the link between autism and vaccines he certainly does okay now have you talked [17:18] to him about medical research that have studied this for 25 years and found no link between autism and [17:24] vaccines and and and just this is my question here because i don't want to litigate that my question [17:31] is why not because you are hhs secretary now why not study what could cause autism which scientists do [17:39] believe starts with fetal brain development why not do some studies on that whether there's your [17:47] environmental lawyer whether there are environmental factors that go into contributing to a predisposed [17:53] genetic situation well let me say this first we're doing all those things and that's one of the [17:58] ways that we found tylenol there's 73 studies out there and linked tylenol exposure during later [18:05] pregnancy and during the perinatal period to uh to autism mindset but um you are wrong when you say that [18:15] this issue has been studied it has been studied and you're rolling your eyes i am because i i don't want [18:22] i don't want to have you use our air to say this there have been more than 40 studies involving 5.6 [18:28] million people to conclude there is no link between vaccines and autism this is the head of the [18:33] committee of infectious diseases for the american academy of pediatrics let me tell you what the [18:38] institute of medicine says which is the national academy of sciences which is the ultimate arbiter [18:46] on vaccine safety in which it does not have an interest in this debate it says that none of the [18:52] eight vaccines that are administered during the first six months of life have ever been studied [19:00] for relationship to autism it found two studies one on the ddb vaccine that showed that it does cause [19:07] autism and one on the hepatitis b vaccine that again suggests that it does cause autism the institute of [19:16] medicine dismissed those two studies because they were based on cdc's database the studies that you're [19:22] referring to are all for one vaccine the mmr vaccine or one ingredient thimerosal so you are using you are [19:30] actually looking at you're starting new studies to try to link autism but you're also telling me [19:35] i'm not trying to link autism to anything i'm trying to find out why is autism are you also trying [19:41] are you also trying to find out how it interacts with people's dna what's predisposed to uh to to [19:49] have an autistic child are you doing both yeah but but dana you probably don't understand this because [19:55] you're not a scientist but you're not either genes don't cause epidemics i understand genes [20:02] they can provide a vulnerability a gene a gene provides environmental that's what i'm asking [20:07] are you studying the environment we're looking at all the different environmental exposures but [20:12] your statement you have been fooled your statement that this has been studied is not true it's [20:18] categorically it is considered it is considered it decided by every scientist who has studied this that [20:28] is not true i can give you hundreds of scientists who have looked at this so on the one hand you are [20:33] do you understand why people are the national academy of sciences what greater authority do you [20:37] understand why people are not getting measles vaccines because they're hearing you say [20:41] that it could cause you're trying to change the subject i'm not it's very much related show me one of [20:46] the studies that's been done on the first eight the vaccines during the first six months of life you [20:52] will not find them the national academy of sciences so if that's the case then why are you telling [20:57] people to get people because that is one of the vaccines that has been studied okay it's the only [21:05] one that has been studied do you want people to get the the mmr vaccine yeah i said that already okay so [21:12] i know you're flustered now and it is i i don't i'm not flustered at all i am frustrated and honest the [21:19] reason i'm frustrated is because i you are the hhs you are the hhs secretary and you are talking [21:27] about things that that that lead to vaccine hesitancy in this country and and it is something that [21:37] causes problems for people when there is not anything let me ask you something do you see your job [21:44] as ending vaccine hesitancy or do you see your job as telling the truth to the american i see my job as [21:50] telling the truth and the truth is that there is is study after study after study it's one of the most [21:57] studied things out there in science you're repeating it like a parrot you're repeating it like a parrot [22:04] so i've actually read the science let's you don't want to come back here and debate the science [22:09] i'm not debating this for you of course you know because i'm not debating all you know how to do [22:14] is repeat things that people told you and say trust the experts that's what you do during covid now we [22:21] know that andy fauci who was the expert was lying about everything about mass about the social distancing [22:27] about natural immunity about the transmission from the vaccine about the source of covid he was lying [22:35] and you were punishing people for not trusting the experts and now you're rolling out the experts again [22:41] yes to talk about something that you have no personal knowledge of okay well guess what again [23:49] what they're failing to tell you is that pregnant mothers take tylenol to help with the pain of other [23:58] underlying conditions conditions that impact the neuro development of their infant so [24:06] they're just blaming it all on tylenol and not looking at the other environmental factors because [24:14] again these people don't know what they're talking about when it comes to
