[0:00] well they've all become stars superstars actually but we want to thank you very much we've had a [0:07] tremendous time and i think a great success and we just concluded a very successful nato summit [0:15] here in turkey and i want to thank president erdogan who's really a great man he's a great [0:22] leader he's a friend of mine been a friend of mine for a long time he's a strong person [0:27] a very strong personality and that's why he runs such a successful and good company country and [0:34] really a great i would say a great country militarily he's very powerful people leave him alone but he's [0:43] really done a fantastic job and from the moment we got off the plane you look at the airports were [0:49] beautiful he built they built a new terminal for our arrival everything was beautiful and so i just [0:57] want to thank president erdogan who's done a fantastic job in turkey and i also want to thank [1:05] nato secretary general mark ruta mark is a extraordinary person smart great leader it's not easy [1:16] leading so many leaders like that you get a lot of leaders and their strong personalities every one of [1:22] them and mark uh marked as an unbelievable job couldn't find anybody better i just want to say [1:31] there was tremendous love in that room the press got to see the the sitting but they didn't get to [1:36] see the speaking and i actually said it's too bad the press couldn't see this because every one of them [1:42] spoke for a little while and i spoke for a little while and it's a big it's a lot of speeches we kept it [1:50] short but it's too bad the press couldn't have seen what we uh what we were doing in that room because [1:57] it was very smart people and they have a lot of good in their heart not evil good and they're doing [2:06] a great job for their country the world is doing well we have uh as you know the oil is down we'll see [2:13] whether or not we keep it down we should keep it down we're doing things that should have been done 47 [2:19] years ago with iran and i just want to say that throughout my first term and over the past 18 [2:26] months the united states has led a historic effort to dramatically increase the defense spending [2:32] and to have equipment that no other country in the world has when you look at venezuela when you look [2:39] at iran essentially demolished their military in a couple of weeks they had a good military they had [2:46] a good navy they had 159 ships every one's at the bottom of the sea they had hundreds of airplanes [2:53] they're all gone they're all lying burned up on the runways they were totally decimated their radar is [3:01] gone they're everything's gone their leaders are gone frankly and their combat capability is pretty low [3:10] they have a small percentage of missiles left they have some of the launchers missile launchers left [3:17] call them launching pads but most of that's been destroyed too so we are uh we have the strongest [3:26] military in the world by far not even close everybody admits it last year's summit in the [3:32] netherlands was great also and we achieved an unprecedented agreement to increase the annual [3:37] defense spending and it's the benchmark raising it from two percent to five percent of gdp which [3:44] everybody said was impossible and now they're all thanking me and and most of the countries have [3:50] agreed to it we have a couple of a couple of that didn't but i have a feeling they're going to [3:56] and pretty quickly in fact today they were very positive one of them in particular was i didn't [4:02] think a good team player today was a great team player as all of the leaders understand very well the [4:09] united states remains by far the largest contributor to nato monetarily and maybe otherwise and the [4:17] strongest military anywhere in the world and they respect us as a country again they didn't respect us [4:25] two years ago they laughed at us nato laughed at us everybody laughed at us they don't laugh anymore [4:31] there's no more laughing this year we invested a record one trillion dollars in our armed forces [4:38] and we're going to be asking for 1.5 trillion coming up we have the money being spent on the best [4:46] equipment anywhere in the world in the working session this morning we discussed the progress [4:53] other members are making toward the five percent target and they're making great progress many of [4:59] these countries are very rich by the way we'll have to feel sorry for them but it doesn't mean they're [5:04] properly protected there's a big difference some have truly answered the call and others are making [5:11] big changes and will be answering the call i think i can say in all cases they're going to be answering [5:17] the call and we'll be we'll be taking in over a trillion dollars a year toward defense and that's [5:24] a tremendous amount of money it's a big up there were two percent they were actually at one percent i [5:30] got them to two percent then i wanted to get them to five and uh we got up to five the last time and [5:38] there you know just again if you could have seen the respect and the love in the room and it's love really [5:44] for the country for our country i don't want to say me because you'll say oh he's so conceited he's [5:48] such a conceited person but they do i mean you know they they like the job i'm doing they said we [5:55] love well sir we love you these are grown people saying that isn't that nice maybe i don't know maybe [6:01] they're trying to get to me and the way they did because there was tremendous unity in that room [6:09] and i urge all nations to accelerate their plans to get the benchmark as quickly as possible the [6:17] the benchmark is going to be that five percent number this is a number it should have been for [6:21] years as a result of the commitment we achieved last year defense spending of other nato members [6:29] surge by more than almost 150 billion dollars in 2025 and much of that money is being spent [6:39] on american-made equipment they all want american-made equipment we're we're uh pushing very hard [6:46] to have the defense companies they're great we make the best equipment the patriots and the tomahawks and [6:52] everything we have is is considered to be the best not by me it's everybody wants it i wish we made it [6:58] faster because we could sell as much as we could make and as you know i had lockheed and uh every one of [7:06] the companies all of the companies which are raytheon is an example boeing so many of those great [7:12] companies are now building plants they had big plants but they were using them 24 7. i said that's [7:20] not the way to do it you have to build more plants you don't have to just go overtime no tax on overtime [7:26] remember that please no tax on overtime those people are happy but they're going they were doing [7:33] literally 24 hours to get the tomahawks done and the patriots done and all of the other defensive [7:39] and offensive equipment done it's the most sought after equipment in the world you saw that with [7:45] venezuela where they had a lot of great equipment it wasn't ours and it didn't work our equipment works [7:53] but we have to produce it faster for other countries for everybody including ourselves we have to produce [7:59] it faster so we think within a year year and a half max will be instead of waiting for a year or two [8:06] years we'll be having it on a two-week wait maybe a one-week wait that's what i want and it'll do really [8:15] well a lot of people are you know just waiting they're waiting you want to get this defensive equipment [8:21] maybe in particular the defensive equipment but offensive and defense as much of that money is being spent on [8:29] american-made equipment that's the money that the european and canada are spending european countries [8:37] mostly and canada and they're spending that with the united states largely and it's american-made [8:46] made in the usa as we say weapons munitions supporting thousands of american jobs this will [8:54] increase we have the highest number of jobs right now we have the most people working in the united states [8:59] of that we've ever had in the history of our country we have the biggest investment ever made 19.2 [9:06] trillion dollars that's six times more than we've ever had think of it six times and what did that were [9:12] tariffs without the tariffs i think we would have done fine like at about two or three the last [9:19] administration had much less than one trillion invested for four years we have 19.2 trillion invested [9:28] in one year we haven't gone into the extra almost a half a year one and a half years those numbers [9:34] won't come out for a little while so we've have 19.2 trillion not billion not million trillion with a t [9:44] invested in plants and equipment that's being built all over the country eli lily is building plants big [9:51] drug merc all of them the drug companies are building the car companies are building like crazy [9:57] in fact as you probably saw a big announcement yesterday toyota is leaving mexico and they're [10:04] going to build one of the biggest car manufacturing plants in the world in texas that's because of the [10:10] terrorists because we don't mind if you build in mexico but if you build in mexico you have to pay 25 [10:16] percent tariff if you build in japan or if you build in any place there china is a much higher [10:22] tariff this is a hundred percent tariff because we don't want to lose our jobs we don't want to have [10:28] our workers lose their jobs we have the we have the largest number of plants being built for the most [10:34] money ever in the history of our country car plants ai plants and all other plants pharmaceutical [10:41] plants chips we're not giving anything all we're saying is if you don't start if they will give [10:48] them a year and a half to two years to build their plant if they don't have that they have to pay a [10:52] hundred percent two hundred percent even two hundred and fifty percent if they make a chip or if they [10:58] make a car if they make pharmaceuticals so the pharmaceutical companies are moving in [11:04] at record levels there's never been anything like what's happening let me put it a different [11:08] up put it here in a more broad fashion there has never been anything like that like has happened [11:14] with this country or any other country in the history of the world there has never been growth [11:22] there's never been manufacturing plants being built we have so many being built and in the big ones [11:30] like ai some of the ai we let them build their own electric plants we force them to build we don't want [11:35] because the old grid that we have wouldn't be able to supply they need just as an industry [11:41] more energy than the entire country produces right now when you think of it which is incredible [11:47] so take all of the energy that the united states produces and that one industry which is so big [11:54] so powerful it needs more than that in fact some people say almost double so this was my idea i said [12:02] you can never service that you can't reinvigorate the grid you can make it better but nothing like [12:07] that you wouldn't be able to build and we're leading china in ai well in most just about everything [12:14] but we're leading china in ai even in tick tock you know i was watching somebody say oh the tick [12:20] tock deal it's so bad for well because they say the deal was incredible but they think the word that [12:28] gets out is bad except the numbers just came out and i'm number one on tick tock and all i do is talk [12:34] about communism right so it's sort of good i use it to get elected too but you know you have to get [12:41] your word out but it just the numbers came out just a little while ago and i was number one some [12:46] ridiculous number i've never heard of numbers like that but number one and all these entertainers [12:52] they're number 27 29 it's crazy i don't even understand myself but that means that my words getting [12:59] out about how great our country is how successful our country is and how bad communism is and how bad [13:05] these lunatics are that are running for election that don't sound good don't think good and don't [13:11] look good i don't see any looker i don't see anybody with the look you know you need the look i guess [13:18] you need something but they don't have it and i think they'll fade fast and it's not social democrats [13:25] this is not a social that these are communists that are running and uh they don't want god [13:31] they don't want successful things to happen for our country they don't want to have a successful [13:36] country i think they're sort of crazy as european nations rebuild their militaries american equipment [13:43] will be the largest beneficiary the defense companies are going to be making most of that equipment [13:51] they want the american equipment because it works better it's not a question of anything else we make [13:56] the best equipment in the world and to that end i provided other leaders with an update on the [14:02] steps we're taking to rapidly scale up production in the united states and they they wanted to hear [14:08] that because they don't really want to get it in four years five years they want to get it like in [14:12] a week and we'll actually be at a point like that in the not too distant future with the plants that [14:19] are being built the defense plants it's incredible um lockheed is building i think five some of them are [14:27] building three four or five and they're big ones it's going to quadruple the output of we have with [14:35] the munitions and and the basic equipment itself whether it's a patriot or tomahawk missile or any [14:41] of the missiles that we make make many missiles different types for different occasions and just today at [14:48] the summit we announced the three billion dollars of new defense investments with u.s companies [14:54] and uh lockheed martin will establish a world-class patriot missile sustainment facility a big deal [15:01] in europe they're given a tremendous incentive by europe to do that all goes to the benefit of us and [15:08] europe because they're getting the best equipment northrop grumman is moving forward with the sale of [15:13] advanced american drone technology we're actually the leader in drone tech a lot of people don't know [15:19] that we have the we have the most sophisticated drones in the world and uh we're a real i guess [15:26] with the leader but we'll we'll soon be the leader by many times over and lockheed and ryan metal are [15:35] announcing a partnership to build the army tactical missile systems which is a big deal and uh anduril is [15:44] announcing a deal to build their new barracuda missiles which is a very highly sophisticated [15:51] fast missile and we're doing that for poland poland's doing very well by the way with a very [15:58] very good president great president i think all of these agreements directly benefit the u.s defense [16:04] industry and base and what it really does is it mean means jobs and again i i have to just say that [16:13] when toyota announced yesterday i wasn't that surprised but everybody wanted to get that that's [16:17] the largest i think it's going to be the largest plant in the world car plant and they're moving [16:23] into the united states and again they're doing that to avoid paying the tariff because if you build your [16:28] product here you pay no tariff if you don't you pay a 25 percent tariff depending 35 sometimes sometimes [16:35] a hundred percent two hundred percent depending on what the product is as an example we're doing great [16:40] on steel because we charge tariffs so now all of a sudden the steel industry which was absolutely [16:45] dead a few years ago i revived it in my first term pretty good and then they blew it in and the [16:53] biden term and what a shame they just blew it right out the way they had no idea what they were doing [16:58] and i quickly revived it at the beginning of my of this term year and a half and we are the steel [17:06] business is through the roof we don't even make aluminum anymore now we're going to have the [17:11] largest aluminum plant in the world being built in oklahoma i love oklahoma 77 out of 77 counties [17:20] three times and it's great it's a great state they're going to be building the largest [17:25] aluminum plant in the entire world in oklahoma starting very soon over the course of the past two [17:32] days i had a number of excellent discussions with other leaders at the summit and held productive [17:39] bilateral meetings with essentially all of them we had dinner last night just about all of them were [17:44] there president erdogan of turkey as well as president zelinski and he just came in as you probably saw [17:52] had a little press conference and also president al-shara of syria who's doing an unbelievable job in [18:00] unifying syria what a job he's doing syria was a mess with what happened with a previous government [18:08] you know that very dangerous place and now it's it's just come together he's done a fantastic job [18:14] people are talking about it in every conversation it was clear that america is back and we're stronger [18:23] and bigger and better than ever before we have more jobs as i said than ever before [18:28] and we're respected again like maybe never before we are so respected as a country that's why i wish i [18:34] told the secretary general mark i said it's too bad the press could not see what's happening in this [18:41] room you saw the big round circle with all of the leaders of all of those countries and i don't know i [18:48] think they should allow it the theory is that they won't be speaking quite as freely and it won't be [18:55] quite as good but who knows it was amazing actually the the unity in that room was incredible the the [19:03] yeah really a love it was sort of pretty wild there was a love in that room that was great so [19:09] this was a tremendously successful summit and again i want to thank president erdogan turkey and president [19:18] uh so many of the presidents presidents prime ministers they were all here from nato the nato [19:27] countries and in particular we have to thank the secretary general mark ruder for doing a fantastic [19:34] job he really put on a tremendous uh his was just something he just he's a unifier he's a tremendous [19:42] unifier so i could take a few questions we've done a few of these already today so i don't think we should [19:48] take too many i don't think we should take right so we're going to keep it a little bit short and i [19:53] know a lot of you are going home some are going with me so go ahead please sir yes yes no no no the [20:02] gentleman right here the very tall gentleman who's very insecure he doesn't want to ask the question [20:09] he's a handsome guy but he's very insecure go ahead do you want to shout it out give him a mic [20:14] how about giving him a shout it out war seems to be a strategic dead end for you why are you [20:29] apparently unable to end the iran war so i think we're doing just the opposite the iran war has [20:36] been a tremendous military success and you know i can only answer the question by saying they're not [20:42] going to have a nuclear weapon i think it's been i was there for one reason that iran cannot have [20:48] a nuclear weapon i call it we uh denuclearize iran and that's happened they will never have [20:55] a nuclear weapon that stuff is so far down under a mountain it's a granite mountain that collapsed on [21:00] top of it take months to get it out uh i think it's a tremendous success iran and you see the oil prices [21:08] are lower than they were when i started and people like to say that but look they have no military left [21:14] their air force is gone as i said their ships are gone 159 ships are gone they're at the bottom of [21:19] the sea their radar is gone everything's gone so when you say not a success it's a tremendous success [21:26] the fake news likes to say how well they're doing they're doing terribly they have 350 inflation [21:32] when the war started they had like six percent five percent they have uh they want to make a deal [21:38] but they don't know how to make a deal and then they go around shooting ships at night [21:42] i don't like that you know they're dealing with very fine people they're dealing with steve woodcoff [21:46] they're dealing with jared kushner and jd vance and they're dealing with marco and scott they're [21:53] dealing with great people but i don't know i think they're a little loco they're a little crazy but they [21:59] told us they'd like to go to the funeral the funeral of of a very uh a person who was killed a lot of [22:09] people khomeini killed a lot of people over the years and there for a long time don't forget what [22:17] we did should have been done 47 years ago it could have been done any time within four this has gone [22:22] on for they were the bully of the middle east so they're a much different country now in one day [22:28] all of their anti-aircraft things are gone that doesn't mean they're not going to get a plane at some [22:34] point but all of it's gone everything's gone their leaders are gone they had leaders they're gone and [22:41] they had another set of leaders they're gone now they have another set of leaders they may be gone [22:45] that's the way they've done it for 47 years but i'm doing what's right for the country i'm doing [23:01] what's right for the world they have to be stopped and they've killed thousands hundreds of thousands of [23:06] people they killed 52 000 protesters over the last three months so when you say we're not doing well [23:13] i think we're doing phenomenally well we our military has been incredible plus we had a blockade did we [23:18] have a blockade did you ever see a blockade work that way you know for you that said we're not doing [23:22] well there we did great in venezuela that was a one-day war and they're very good military you know it's [23:29] a very military country we took out one of the worst human beings in the world maduro and we he's [23:37] in jail waiting for trial but what he did to this country was incredible including the fact not only [23:42] the drugs but he had people pour into the country from prisons they opened up their prisons they [23:48] allowed them to come in we're getting them out we're getting them all out but we have uh with the [23:53] biden open border policy with kamala as your borders are remember she was a borders out but she never [23:59] called border patrol never once and she never went to the border the border was a disaster now it's [24:04] fixed it's fixed where we have nobody and i don't i don't do these numbers zero people come in through [24:11] our border through our southern border zero and that's been announced now every month for the last [24:17] 12 months zero we had millions of people come in under 25 million people i think more than that under [24:23] biden and they weren't people that you want and for the most part they were drug dealers [24:29] they were escaped from think of it all the prisons yeah i mean i'll [35:56] tell you what i can only say if there's one word that comes out of today it's unification i've never [36:02] seen anything like it every one of those countries they love us were laughed at all over the world and we had a very [37:40] bad relationship with a lot of countries i think turkey was one of those countries but that changed [37:46] on november 5th when we had the election and we've i've it's one of our best relationships we have a [37:53] great relationship and they're talking about the f-35 airplane and it's the best plane and everybody [38:00] wants it and we have to make a decision who we give it to i mean my inclination because he again [38:06] he stayed out of he's not a huge fan of bb and he's not a huge fan of israel but he stayed out of [38:13] that war he could have gone into that war very easily and he didn't at my request he stayed out of that [38:17] war and he's been a very good ally i mean marco could tell you we have a very strong relationship [38:23] with turkey it's a very big country it's a very powerful militarily it's a very it's the second most [38:29] powerful country in nato it's a nato country so whether or not we uh do that i haven't totally [38:36] made up my mind but my inclination is to say look he's done everything he's helped us in so many [38:42] different ways and you know who else has been good to his china china never came into the war they get [38:49] 50 percent of their oil from haramu strait they never came into the war they never said i'm going to [38:54] send a ship in five destroyers along each side of the ship they never did no he was he's been [39:02] president she's been great everyone's been sort of great to be honest you know why because they respect [39:07] our country again they laughed at our country they thought we were a bunch of fools they saw a [39:13] president that couldn't talk he couldn't walk it was a disaster they lost respect for our country but [39:20] now they
