New Zelda Figures! LEGO Pokémon & Donkey Kong! The Best Nintendo Toys at SDCC — Comic Con 2026

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: What is up everybody? Max and Brian here coming to you from San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Brian, [00:00:09] Speaker 2: you're a big Nintendo fan. Is there any huge Nintendo fan? Anything exciting here at the Hasbro booth? Okay, so I love Hasbro action figures and I love Legend of Zelda and they recently announced a partnership to make brand new toys and we have our look at the first three of them right here on the show floor at San Diego Comic-Con and they're based on Tears of the Kingdom. So we got Link, we got Zelda and we got Ganondorf. Let's go look at them. All right, let's start with the obvious. Tell me about Link. Here's our hero Link. Priced at $27.99. He comes complete with his Halion Shield, Master Sword, Alternate Zone Eye Power Hand and a Soft Cloth Cape. He's got over 20 points of articulation so feel free to grab him and test his descendability through your kitchen table. Spoilers, it probably won't work. Up next, we've got Princess Zelda, the princess herself, also going for $27.99 and with over 20 points of articulation, an interchangeable hand of her own, plus a Master Sword, although hers is a bit more decayed and if you've played the game, you know the deal. And if you haven't, play the game. And finally, we got Ganondorf coming in at a mighty 7.5 inches and a mighty $42.99 price tag. The match is easily the biggest and most formidable of the bunch and comes with a scabbard, a gloom sword, and of course an interchangeable right hand of his own. And he looks absolutely awesome. Look at how powerful this guy is. I love him. [00:01:39] Speaker 1: So we're both big-time Hasbro collectors because, you know, Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends, this is the same kind of basic anatomy of those. G.I. Joe Classified, you know, it's really great six-inch figures, tons of articulation. And Zelda has a pretty, pretty big, deep bench of characters they could pull from. Who would you like to see the most, aside from Ocarina and the live-action stuff, which seem almost like the safest bets? [00:02:00] Speaker 2: What's some, like, pie-in-the-sky things you'd love to see? So a thing I really love about Hasbro is that when they get a license, they really dive in and they start doing tons of deep-cut characters. And their booth this year is a giant celebration of that. There's tons of Marvel Legends. There's Star Wars Black Series. There's Ghostbusters toys everywhere. So it's just got me really excited to see a Goron. I want a 7.5-inch Goron. I know that's a weird phrase. Don't we all? But seeing their Ganon, like, watching them play with scale here. Also, they're doing Tears of the Kingdom. I kind of want to see a Dragon Zelda. Oh, man. That would be really long, but just throwing that idea out there. [00:02:33] Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we've got this giant diorama of all the Marvel Legends they've been doing from the very deep Marvel Universe they can pull from. Zelda's got a lot of cool stuff in there, too. There's, you know, there's obviously, like, tons and tons of monsters from all the different games, all the different interpretations of them. I would, yeah, I mean, I would love to see some weird deep-cut stuff. I'd love to see a link based on the original instruction book art. [00:02:52] Speaker 2: That would be awesome. I kind of want the boat from Wind Waker. Yeah. Build a whole dungeon. Just build a whole one-to-one scale dungeon for my toys to play in. [00:03:00] Speaker 1: We can dream. In the meantime, it is very cool to see some Legend of Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom action figures here at Comic-Con, and we're very excited for them to actually come out so we can play with them. We're at the LEGO booth. We have had LEGO video games for a very long time, but in recent years, we've been getting more and more video game LEGO sets. [00:03:24] Speaker 2: Yes. There's some really cool ones this year at their booth, predominantly Pokemon. So much Pokemon. It's incredibly exciting. Plus some classics like Zelda and Mario Kart, but my favorite this year is the brand-new, newly-revealed Donkey Kong arcade set. Let's go check it all out. [00:03:41] Speaker 1: Now, the Donkey Kong looks great. I'm a little bit younger. Maybe I'm not quite of that particular age bracket, but I have quite an affinity for Pokemon, which, again, is turning 30 this year. Donkey Kong is, I think, about 50, something like that. What's interesting here is that they're going after adult Pokemon fans and kids. They've got the whole Smart Play move where there's little Smart Bricks, and basically, they've got a whole line of sort of non-scale Pokemon sets, which they're very similar to the sort of the Mario sets they first put out. Yes. They're kind of their own design. They don't look like minifigs. They don't look like, you know, on-model. Full sets, yeah. [00:04:21] Speaker 2: They're kind of just like their own thing. They're really cool. [00:04:23] Speaker 1: I saw them when they were first revealed. I wasn't crazy about them. But seeing them in person, I think they're really, really charming. They're all just kind of goofy looking. They're, you know, they're just- They're charmandering, you would say. How dare you? What's cool, though, is that, you know, if that's not appealing to, you know, an older Pokemon fan, they do also have the sort of collector-grade stuff, which is a pretty cool selection. They kind of started with the, you know, the big three, you know, Blastoise and Venusaur and Charizard. Yeah. And then they've got weirder ones. They've got, like, Munchlax and a pile of trash, and they've got, like, the whole Pokeball play set you open up, and it's got red and green inside dueling. And those are the big, like, you know, multi-hundred-dollar 18 and up grown-up sets. [00:04:59] Speaker 2: I really love that one specifically because it reminds me of, like, Mighty Max, Polly Pocket, the old, like, sort of toys that opened up into an entire play set. And seeing minifigs in that scale is really cool. And you pointed out something interesting. It'd be impossible for them to make a tiny minifig of every single Pokemon ever. So they're being pretty selective, and they're being pretty playful with which ones they do in which scale, which I think makes a lot of sense. And it also just makes me want to get a bunch of them for my kid. [00:05:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool. I like that they are, you know, they've got a very deep bench of things they can make Lego sets of. But, yeah, it's funny. They've got the sort of, you know, they've got build yourself an Eevee, build yourself a Pikachu. And then they've got the smaller ones, right? They've got the smart bricks. And then they do actually have, you know, custom elements of Pikachu and Eevee. And I feel like if they continue doing this theme, we're going to see more and more, you know, specific, unique, bespoke Pokemon turned into Lego pieces. But I feel like they're going to be very specific about which ones they go with. And I'm curious to see where that goes. But in the meantime, they're having fun with it, and it's fun to see. [00:05:57] Speaker 2: And now what video game franchise should Lego do next? Hmm, I don't know. I'm still stuck on the Donkey Kong arcade cabinet because it is one of my favorite things they've done in a while. They started off a couple of years ago with the Lego NES set, which was amazing, and it had cartridges you could pop in. Last year, they had the Game Boy, which is just incredible with, you know, once again, swappable cartridges and stuff like that. They've done Legend of Zelda and stuff. But this Donkey Kong set's really interesting because it's effectively the front of an arcade cabinet with the marquee art on top. It's $200, which is, you know, that's... Yeah, it's cheaper than a Donkey Kong machine. Definitely, that's for sure, and less maintenance. But it's really cool because it's got interactive elements like a joystick and a barrel button, and you can feed barrels into the side of it, press jump, and Jumpman, aka Super Mario himself, which I also found out used to be called Mr. Video Game, jumps over them. So I haven't seen how it works exactly, but I can't wait to find out more about this thing. But to answer your question, I want smaller Donkey Kong figures. [00:06:55] Speaker 1: That's where you're going with this? Yeah. I was going to be like, well, they make a bunch of little elements of, like, blunderbusses and swords and tri-corner hats and skeletons and things like that. It would be cool to have Bloodborne Lego. We're never going to get it, but one thing that is kind of interesting is there was a Lego Ideas submission about 10 years ago of an X-Files set, which is a huge fan favorite. It took off. It blew up. I think, like, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson both, like, tweeted it out. They were like, this is cool. Yep. Lego was like, I don't know, X-Files is kind of mature, kind of gritty. It's not really our thing. Ten years later, they're making the set. They got a Flukeman minifit. Which is so cool. It's disgusting, and I love that they're doing that. And it also, like, again, you've got $300 Lego sets that are clearly aiming at a mature audience. Like, maybe, maybe they'll loosen up. Maybe we'll get, I don't know, probably not, you know, Bloodborne, but, like, it'd be cool to get, like, some Skyrim Lego set, something like that. Yeah. I'll take Metroid. I'll take anything Metroid. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, there's tons of cool stuff here at Comic-Con, so keep an eye out. We've got lots more coming out soon here on IGN. Watch your feet.
