[0:14] the republican party and while megan kelly said she doesn't regret voting for donald trump because [0:20] of trans people um which is apparently like the most important thing in the world to her [0:26] she did call donald trump out for his disastrous war with iran and she called [0:30] out her former employers at fox news for kissing trump's ass as much as they do but before we [0:37] supporting him [1:12] endorsing him persuading people to vote for him megan kelly isn't there yet i'm hoping she does because [1:17] that will be even more damaging for trump but in the meantime when she talks smack about trump and [1:21] fox news i'm here for it so let's start with this clip and again this is from steven a smith's [1:26] podcast a street shooter beginning when i started the show i was not really in trump's good graces [1:31] then i kind of got back in them then he got very angry with me after an interview we did in 23 and [1:35] was attacking me again then i got back in them it's a pet you know like he if you say nice things about [1:39] him he loves you if you don't he hates you we're in a low period right now the audience gets it do you [1:45] i gotta say i just the one thing that i think is really pathetic about that is making kelly wouldn't [1:53] tolerate that from anybody else and if if megan kelly observed that sort of behavior from a [1:58] democratic president president obama president biden she would rightly make fun of it like wait [2:03] who you like depends on whether or not they're kissing your ass all the time it's it's pretty [2:08] pathetic and suggests you're pretty pathetic and i will point out before we play the rest of this [2:12] megan kelly did recently concede that she understood that donald trump is a piece of [2:16] that he's not a man of good character so again she wouldn't tolerate that from a democrat but i digress [2:22] perhaps it's a rhetorical question but i'll ask you anyway and excuse my language [2:26] do you give a that you're not might not necessarily be in his good graces right now [2:31] no no i i can't i can't give a in my lane you know i if you're really going to be a reporter [2:36] an actual journalist and an honest broker you know not somebody forgive me i like sean hannity [2:42] as a man he's a good guy but i mean that what he does on the air i could never stomach were you just [2:48] towing the party line just you always know what to say because it's defend defend defend whatever the [2:52] right-wing position is the republicans that is not me that you might as well get a job in congress [2:58] ew that is you for the most part though i mean again obviously you don't literally do it all the [3:03] time and so i suppose your track record there is better than sean hannity's but i mean not by much [3:08] right i don't consider megan kelly a journalist she might consider herself one but she is a propagandist [3:14] she is a political commentator i'm a political commentator i don't pretend to be a journalist i have my [3:19] biases i have my worldview i think i can adequately defend them i think they're factually based but i [3:24] don't pretend to be a non-partisan journalist so this is again kind of a canard that megan kelly's [3:30] clinging to it's like nobody buys it like that's if you're going to be in the news business you should [3:35] be honest you should be a straight shooter if you never deviate from the party line i'm sorry but you're [3:40] a hack so no it's a feature not a bug of what i like to think i do and um i it's one of the [3:48] reasons why i generally like even before this even when i was in trump's good graces you know [3:52] whatever a couple months ago i didn't go hang out with him at the white house steven a i didn't go [3:57] have dinner with trump i didn't i don't you stood by him you campaigned with him during the 2024 [4:03] election you spoke at a rally in his defense like i mean megan come on yes you are not the most hackish [4:11] mega podcaster but let's not pretend you weren't like hack adjacent you you went waist deep in the hack [4:17] pool at a bare minimum socialize with people in the administration uh you know if i see him at [4:22] an event i'll have a picture with them and have a nice exchange i'm not a jerk but like there needs [4:26] to be an arm's length relationship i can't need them i can't need their approval or it would change [4:33] my coverage and the ability to break with him when necessary is too important to me well again i guess [4:41] i'll say this i mean she has been willing to criticize trump before and again she's gotten [4:46] increasingly harsher over time i will say that ben shapiro was right that she was kind of a johnny [4:52] come lately to that because she was quick to go scorched earth on lindsey graham and mark levin and [4:58] ben shapiro himself for their influence on trump advising him to get into this iran war but as ben [5:05] shapiro pointed out to tucker carlson to joe kent to megan kelly and this is one area where shapiro was [5:12] 100 right if you're upset about the iran war and you don't blame donald trump you are dishonest if [5:20] you're blaming lindsey graham but not donald trump you're dishonest if you're blaming benjamin netanyahu [5:26] and not donald trump you are dishonest now if you want to blame netanyahu for persuading trump [5:32] fair enough if you want to blame netanyahu for the role israel is playing since it's a joint military [5:37] operation a joint war fair enough but if you're mad about us involvement with iran it's ultimately [5:44] trump's fault and on that note she's she's gotten a little bit better right megan kelly has like oh yeah [5:52] trump has agency what but that is actually the subject of this exchange right here but do you believe [5:58] that president trump has us involved in this for his own selfish motives or was he compelled uh and [6:06] pushed into this swayed to being involved in this by benjamin netanyahu um i think the latter is true [6:14] that he was convinced to do it by benjamin netanyahu i i don't think it i know it it's been universally [6:19] reported by every paper of record he was talked into it but even though net yahoo denies it net yahoo [6:24] in fairness to him he denies it all the time but go ahead he he did show up at the situation room [6:29] and present a long powerpoint presentation to trump with the head of the massad there of via satellite like [6:36] that happened read the wall street journal read the new york times that's not in dispute [6:40] and president trump then took all that information and brought it to his own security team pete hexath [6:45] and the secretary of state marco rubio and others and they said it's you don't believe that [6:49] he's overselling it um so there's no question that bb made a long pitch and trump overruled his people [6:54] and believed bb and that's why we launched the war so it's it's trump has agency it was trump's [6:59] decision trump is to blame but let's be honest the person who convinced him to do it was bb netanyahu period [7:06] i at least appreciate that she's finally starting to slide that in there that trump has agency trump [7:13] is to blame good for you good for you for finally admitting it be louder about if you're really [7:19] pissed off at anybody it needs to be the guy who's in charge who could have said no joe biden said no [7:23] barack obama said no george bush said no your cult leader was so weak and stupid and pathetic much more [7:29] so than the democrats who are obviously intellectually and morally superior to trump trump said yes that's all on [7:36] him okay having having said all that trump i think like there's a there's a theory of a school of [7:43] thought that trump is was blackmailed into it because he was so clearly against starting a new war [7:49] never mind one in the middle east many people believe maybe somebody has something over him [7:54] and he was threatened you know by netanyahu or somebody i don't personally believe that i mean [7:59] i can't rule it out but i don't believe that i think it's trump is he's full of hubris he is a [8:05] narcissist like everybody who gets to be in that role and i think he was drunk on his own wine after [8:11] megan nobody's a narcissist like trump i'm sorry trump is called is what is called a malignant [8:17] narcissist to the extent that any president or somebody who runs for the presidency has a degree [8:22] of narcissism about him a touch of narcissism suppose you could make that argument like damn you're [8:26] pretty confident you are pretty sure of yourself aren't you if you think you should be the most powerful [8:30] person on earth but trump is malignantly narcissistic and we've never seen that in a presidency [8:37] certainly not in modern american history which is again why he said yes and none of the others did [8:42] venezuela and after the june strikes on the iranian nuclear uh sites and was like i can do this and i [8:48] love my military i got these cool tools i want to show them off what's the point of having all these [8:53] assets if i never get to use them and i'll be a hero just like netanyahu told him you're going to be a [8:58] hero regime change ayatollah's above ground with his top emissaries we're in we're out venezuela style [9:04] you'll be revered the world over you might even get that peace prize and trump didn't realize he'd [9:10] made the same pitch to every other president you're just the first one to fall for it and that nothing [9:16] is speedy in the middle east and unfortunately here we are two months later with the the best goal [9:26] sorry the clip gets a bit laggy there unfortunately but yeah she makes the case she admits that trump [9:31] fell for something that no other president has and the goal that he has in mind as far as you know [9:37] ending iran's nuclear capability he swore he did that last year so again there's just no way out for [9:43] him i think politically on this it's just you know are you going to do severe damage to yourself or [9:50] even more severe damage i just there's no way to mitigate it totally there's certainly no way to [9:54] come out ahead donald trump has lost this one um politically and strategically megan kelly knows [10:00] it she's finally comfortable admitting that it is trump's fault and she doesn't give a [10:04] shit if that makes him mad and hopefully they continue to turn on each other because the maga [10:09] civil war in
