[1:57] And welcome to the press conference for the 46th Golden Gala Pietra Menea presented by IP, [2:03] which will be staged tomorrow, 4th of June, here at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. [2:08] This is the fourth leg of the 2026 Wonder Diamond League circuit, [2:12] and again the first of a series of meets here in the European continent. [2:16] To all the media and guests in the room, and to all of those watching us on the live stream across the world, [2:21] please note that this press conference will be held in three parts. [2:25] The first part will be joined by President of Italian Athletics Stefano May, [2:29] who will share a few welcoming words with all of us. [2:32] And in the second and third parts will be the athletes' panels with Italian and international athletes, [2:37] and on the second one will also be joined by Meeting Director Marco Siccheri. [2:42] In each of the athletes' panels, we'll be opening the floor to questions, [2:46] followed by one-to-one press opportunities with individual athletes. [2:50] For those in the room, your questions are very much welcome, as per usual. [2:54] The press conference will be held entirely in English, [2:58] simultaneous translation into Italian will be available via web app directly on attendee's smartphones using personal phones. [3:05] So, if you haven't had the chance to connect to the web app, and if you need, [3:10] we will be starting actually the first welcoming words in Italian, just to give you the heads up again. [3:16] So, without much further ado, please join me in welcoming Stefano May, President of Italian Athletics. [4:54] Quindi grazie a tutti, benvenuti. [4:56] Grazie molto Presidente, per il tuo benvenuto. [4:59] Grazie. [4:59] Grazie. [5:02] We are now officially ready to welcome the first group of athletes, [5:05] who are amongst the fastest men and women we have ever seen gracing our global tracks, [5:10] our TV screens and more recently in the digital area, also our smartphones. [5:15] So I would welcome to the stage Melissa Jefferson Wooden, [5:19] reigning Olympic champion in the 100 and 200, [5:21] reigning world champion in the 100 and 200 meters, [5:24] and bronze medalist in the Paris Olympics. [5:34] I did say they were fast, so. [5:36] So, on the track, I didn't mention the corridors. [5:52] So, okay, I'll just welcome again the athletes, we're ready. [5:56] So with us, Melissa Jefferson Wooden from the United States of America, [6:00] reigning world champion in the 100 and the 200, [6:03] and bronze medalist in the Paris Olympics. [6:05] Julian Alfred, representing St. Lucia, [6:08] reigning Olympic champion in the 100 and two-time Diamond League final winner. [6:12] Noah Lyles from the USA, reigning Olympic champion in the 100 [6:15] and world champion in the 200 and six-time Diamond League final winner. [6:20] And last but not the least, let's see later, Bogo, [6:23] reigning Olympic champion in the 200 and recently back-to-back winner [6:26] in the team relay in the 4x400. [6:29] So, welcome, guys. [6:31] Thank you very much for taking time of your precious rest, [6:34] training, preparation time to be here with us. [6:36] It's really good to see you. [6:37] Everyone is really looking forward to talking to you. [6:40] Also with us on stage, we've got Marco Sicari, [6:43] meeting director, our host. [6:45] So, Marco, I will probably start with you. [6:47] Thanks, Antonio. [6:49] What a lineup. [6:50] It's not even a question, it's just a statement. [6:51] What a lineup. [6:53] Thanks, Antonio, and welcome, everybody. [6:55] Welcome to Rome. [6:56] Let me tell you, I take a look here at the stage. [6:59] I'm proud. [7:00] Thanks a lot, guys, for being here, [7:02] for joining us at the Golden Gallup. [7:04] It's a joy for us. [7:05] And this is maybe, let me say that, Antonio, [7:09] with a little bit maybe I'm proud, [7:11] the sign that we have been doing well [7:13] in the preparation of the meeting. [7:15] And now the last cherry on the cake [7:17] that hopefully will be put in the evening of tomorrow [7:22] will be the public, the audience. [7:24] The president of the Italian Federation said it, [7:26] that we expect to have a great atmosphere [7:29] in the Olympic Stadium [7:29] and hopefully cross fingers with the help of the athletes [7:32] to have the best audience at the stadium. [7:34] Just like the athletes, [7:38] all the Diamond League meets, [7:39] they want to improve and get better. [7:40] What are some of the challenges that you might face [7:43] making sure that Golden Gala is getting better year after year? [7:47] You know, there are many challenges [7:48] when you organize such an event, a world event. [7:52] The main one, let me tell you, [7:53] is the calendar at the moment. [7:55] We have several events taking place in the meantime [7:58] and also the challenge comes from having a meeting like this [8:02] in a city like Rome [8:04] that offers every day [8:05] a lot of different entertainment occasions. [8:08] So we are producing a sports show, [8:11] thanks to the athletes, first of all. [8:13] And so we are trying to offer the best to the audience. [8:17] And that is maybe the main challenge at the moment [8:19] because the fact that the athletes are of this level [8:23] and right here in Rome means that we have been doing what we could [8:27] to have our best show. [8:30] Marco will also be available at the end of the press conference for questions, [8:33] but I've got just one more, Marco. [8:35] As well as the main event, [8:37] we also have the traditional youth relay. [8:40] We've got a more of a fun bit [8:41] with a relay mascot race [8:44] between the Diamond League mascot [8:46] and the 18 championships mascot, [8:48] but also the Silver Gala. [8:50] How much is this representation [8:52] of what the spirit that the Golden Gala really embodies? [8:56] Well, the main thing that I would say [8:58] is that it is a kind of celebration. [9:00] Celebration, a great party, [9:02] a great athletics party in the country. [9:04] Guys, you will meet a lot, [9:06] thousands of Italian boys and girls [9:09] competing in the afternoon before you [9:11] and they will cheer on you during the event. [9:14] This is, I think, [9:15] one of the most important things we do [9:17] as Italian Federation [9:18] in the organization of the meeting. [9:20] Our main point is to promote athletics in the country [9:23] and support the promotion of athletics worldwide. [9:26] This is what we really follow. [9:29] It's our main guide, I would say. [9:31] Thank you, Marco. [9:32] And I think I speak on the number of everyone. [9:33] Thank you again for having us here [9:35] in this wonderful Golden Gala. [9:36] We'll move on to the real stars of the show, [9:39] which is the athletes. [9:41] And I'm going to start with a question for all of you. [9:43] As the elite athletes that you are, [9:45] you're always on the back of world championships [9:47] preparing for the Olympics. [9:48] How does this four-year cycle impact on your training, [9:52] but also on your personal lives [9:53] and any personal endeavors [9:54] that you might have to sometimes give up [9:56] or put on hold? [9:58] And I'll start with Melissa. [9:58] She's just looking at me here, ready to go. [10:01] So we'll start with Melissa. [10:02] I would say for me, [10:05] when it comes to the four-year cycle, [10:08] just keeping the main thing the main thing, [10:11] and that is to, number one, always be healthy. [10:14] And number two, [10:16] if last year didn't go as planned [10:19] or you may have gotten what you wanted, [10:21] but there's still some things left on the table, [10:23] just being able to carry [10:26] what you were working on the year before prior, [10:29] carrying that into the next year [10:30] and trying to just build up [10:32] to the best of your potential. [10:34] Julian? [10:36] Yeah, I would like to echo [10:37] what Melissa said about being healthy as well. [10:40] I also try to treat every year the exact same. [10:43] And if one year doesn't go well, [10:45] especially like last year, [10:46] didn't go how I wanted to at world championships, [10:48] just work on something different the next year. [10:51] But the main thing for me every year [10:53] is to be healthy and to work hard. [10:55] But I try to just keep everything the same. [10:57] And I'm always going to work hard no matter what. [11:00] Brilliant. Thank you very much. [11:01] Noah? [11:02] I'm just here to have fun. [11:04] This is my first off-season since 2018. [11:09] Yeah, shoot. [11:11] I just realized none of y'all [11:13] were running professional in 2018. [11:18] Dang, I'm old. [11:20] Yeah, I'm just here to have fun. [11:21] I'm going to meets that I haven't been to in a while, [11:23] some I've never been to. [11:24] I mean, I went back to Japan, had some fun. [11:27] You know, I haven't been to Rome since 2019. [11:31] Shoot, we're going to Ostrava in a few weeks here. [11:35] I've never been to the Golden Spike. [11:36] I've been trying to go for years. [11:37] I mean, all of July, [11:40] I'm just going to be going to conventions in the U.S., [11:44] maybe do some nationals. [11:45] Yeah, I'm just having fun. [11:47] You know, there's no pressure. [11:49] I can just run where I want, [11:51] run what I want, [11:53] and who against I want. [11:55] It's not a situation of having to peak at a certain time. [11:58] It's just as soon as we're ready to run fast, [12:00] all right, let's find a meet and let's run. [12:01] Just going to pick up on what you just said. [12:03] It's an off-season for you, [12:04] but it seems very packed. [12:05] But it's on your terms. [12:06] It's what you want to do. [12:07] Yeah, no, [12:08] this first month of June, [12:11] I'd say it's very packed. [12:13] But July will be, [12:15] you know, [12:15] I only got one track meet in July, [12:18] which is U.S. National Championships. [12:21] And then again, [12:22] since there's going to be European Championships [12:24] and Commonwealth Games, [12:26] I'm going to just be at home having fun, [12:28] training. [12:29] but maybe I'll make a visit to under-20s [12:33] since it's in Eugene, [12:34] maybe. [12:35] You know, [12:36] we never know what the schedule has. [12:37] That's the beauty of having an off-season [12:39] where you don't have to be somewhere. [12:41] You know, [12:41] you can make appearances like that. [12:42] Well, [12:43] you've planted a seed now, [12:44] so people probably might expect to see you there. [12:45] So I'm just doing random things, [12:47] you know? [12:48] Okay. [12:49] Let's see later. [12:50] I'd say [12:53] last 25, [12:55] it was an off-season [12:57] because I wasn't [12:58] at my best mentally, [13:00] physically. [13:01] It was just an off [13:02] year, [13:03] even though we made it [13:04] into each and every final. [13:05] But I believe we needed that break [13:08] as much as people didn't know [13:10] how much impact [13:13] that gold medal, [13:15] how much did we have to go through [13:18] for that gold medal. [13:20] So I believe now until 2018, [13:23] it's all about having fun [13:25] up until we decide [13:27] when to leave the sport. [13:29] Brilliant. [13:29] Thank you very much. [13:30] We'll stay with you. [13:31] All Gears, [13:32] No Breaks. [13:32] Is that your motto for this season? [13:36] At the Ultimate Championship, [13:37] yes. [13:38] But as of yet, [13:39] it's just to build up [13:40] the momentum, [13:41] going into getting [13:42] the right start, [13:43] getting the right body form, [13:45] getting everything right [13:46] throughout these Diamond Leagues. [13:49] Thank you. [13:50] Noah, [13:51] already 10.05 and 9.85 this season, [13:53] making your 2006 Diamond League debut [13:56] here in Rome, [13:57] going all in? [13:57] I don't see why not. [14:01] I've never come to a track meet [14:03] and not gone all in. [14:04] If somebody's showing up [14:06] and they're just saying, [14:07] oh, this is a practice session, [14:09] I'm going to be honest, [14:10] I don't believe in that. [14:11] If you showed up, [14:12] well, I can only speak for myself. [14:13] If I show up, [14:14] I'm ready to run. [14:16] Very good. [14:17] Thank you. [14:17] Julian, [14:19] 10.96 at the Texas Invitational, [14:21] 21.96 the day before. [14:23] How did the recent results [14:24] set you up for this season? [14:26] Especially because you are [14:27] very much aware [14:27] Tokyo didn't go as well [14:28] as you wanted. [14:29] Yeah, I think that I wanted to open up very early. [14:33] I had like maybe over a month break [14:35] after we're indoors, [14:36] which really didn't go [14:38] how I expected it to. [14:39] So I really wanted to see [14:40] what I had to work on [14:41] before I started the Diamond League season. [14:43] But I'm satisfied with where I'm at now. [14:45] I'm just looking forward [14:46] to just getting better each race. [14:48] Thank you. [14:49] And Melissa, [14:49] short and sweet. [14:50] How's the preparation been going? [14:52] Any major changes [14:52] after the success [14:53] individually [14:54] and as a team relay [14:55] in Tokyo? [14:57] Practice and training [14:58] has been going great. [15:00] You know, [15:00] this last month [15:02] I've been able [15:03] to really see [15:04] my improvement [15:05] not only [15:06] well, [15:07] taking the word [15:07] of my coach [15:09] and training partners [15:10] and physio [15:11] but then just being able [15:12] to see it for myself [15:13] I think has been [15:13] the most important thing [15:15] to me. [15:16] And then as far as just [15:18] you know, [15:18] looking back at [15:19] what I did last year [15:21] and learning [15:22] how to [15:23] bask in it [15:25] enjoy it [15:26] but don't try [15:27] to look too much forward [15:28] or don't try [15:29] to just downplay [15:29] what you do. [15:30] I do that a lot of times. [15:31] I get caught up in [15:32] I say it all the time [15:34] like when I'm at track meets [15:35] and stuff and competing [15:36] I want to stay [15:37] in whatever moment [15:37] that I'm in [15:38] but once I achieve [15:40] the things that I have [15:41] I tend to [15:42] not stay in those moments. [15:44] I tend to be like [15:45] yeah, well you know [15:45] that was good [15:46] but we got to get ready [15:48] for what's to come. [15:50] So that was my biggest [15:51] lesson that I've learned [15:52] and I've been having fun [15:54] I've been blessed [15:56] with a lot of opportunities [15:57] off the track [15:58] this offseason [15:59] with things [16:01] and meeting people [16:02] that I never thought [16:02] I would meet [16:03] at this stage [16:04] in my life [16:05] so I'm grateful [16:06] ready to get back [16:08] on the track. [16:08] It's been nine months [16:10] so I'm excited [16:12] to go out here [16:12] Thursday [16:13] and you know [16:13] see what we got. [16:14] Thank you very much. [16:15] Well enough about me [16:16] I'm just going to open [16:17] the floor to the questions [16:18] and again [16:19] very much welcome [16:20] to ask questions [16:21] to the athletes. [16:25] If you have a question [16:25] just raise your hands [16:26] and one of us [16:28] will come to you [16:28] with a microphone [16:29] you'll be back to me then. [16:40] Melissa [16:40] was there a question? [16:42] No? [16:43] Last chance [16:44] there is one here [16:44] on the left hand side [16:45] thank you very much [16:46] if you could get [16:46] the microphone across [16:48] it's coming [16:48] going for the world record [16:51] of getting the microphone [16:52] delivered [16:53] and if you could just [17:00] state your name [17:02] and which media outlet [17:03] you represent. [17:04] Thank you. [17:04] Roberto Amorosino [17:06] Sports Memory [17:07] question for Noah [17:11] if I may [17:12] congratulations [17:15] from all of us [17:17] for your wedding [17:17] thank you [17:19] I think it's a recent [17:20] event [17:22] what present [17:24] you want to bring [17:25] back home [17:26] from the track [17:28] and from outside [17:29] the track [17:29] from Rome [17:30] present [17:32] present [17:33] what do you expect [17:35] tomorrow [17:36] from the track [17:37] and what do you expect [17:38] to bring back home [17:40] thank you [17:41] well my coach said [17:46] that I'm in 985 shape [17:47] so 985 or better [17:49] that's what I expect [17:51] any other question? [18:01] no? [18:02] I've got one more question [18:03] just for each athlete [18:04] before we let them go [18:05] Melissa [18:07] three-time Diamond League [18:08] meet winner [18:08] aiming for the final [18:10] and aiming for that trophy [18:11] that is just looking at you [18:12] there so beautifully [18:13] it is pretty [18:14] heavy as well [18:16] yeah [18:17] you know [18:19] I think for me [18:20] when it comes to [18:21] actually starting [18:22] to be more [18:24] appear more [18:27] on the Diamond League [18:27] circuit [18:27] and things like that [18:28] I think my biggest thing [18:30] is [18:30] I wouldn't say [18:31] that I haven't been [18:32] looking towards [18:33] you know [18:33] Diamond League final [18:34] and becoming [18:35] a Diamond League champion [18:36] but also [18:37] I feel like [18:38] the biggest thing [18:39] or the biggest reason [18:40] of why [18:41] I have gotten [18:42] to where I am [18:43] is just by taking it [18:45] one meet at a time [18:46] you know [18:46] and seeing where [18:47] things end up [18:48] obviously this year [18:49] with it being an off year [18:50] and me already having [18:52] a buy into the [18:53] Ultimate Championship [18:54] it allows for me [18:56] to be able to do [18:57] things more freely [18:58] like Noah said [18:58] you know [18:59] being able to race [19:00] where I want [19:00] and you know [19:01] if I say [19:02] like the month of May [19:04] I didn't race at all [19:05] but I was out at [19:06] F1 [19:07] and doing stuff [19:08] with Sports Illustrated [19:09] so you know [19:10] it allows that freedom [19:11] for me to be able [19:11] to do the things [19:12] that I want to do [19:13] off the track [19:13] that I probably [19:14] couldn't do [19:15] in a world championship [19:17] year or Olympic year [19:18] so this year [19:19] you know [19:20] I just want to [19:20] see where it goes [19:21] how the season ends up [19:23] and if I end up [19:24] at Diamond League final [19:25] with that trophy [19:27] so be it [19:27] yeah [19:28] very good [19:28] thank you very much [19:29] Julian [19:30] how often do you [19:31] go back to St. Lucia [19:31] and have you noticed [19:32] any changes [19:33] any improvements [19:34] in athletics [19:34] since you've [19:35] won that Olympic gold [19:37] actually there's been [19:39] quite a few [19:39] we have character games [19:41] and we've had lots [19:42] of like medals [19:42] gold medals at that [19:43] so there have been [19:44] lots of changes [19:46] what was the first [19:46] question sorry [19:47] how often do you [19:50] go back to St. Lucia [19:51] and if you've seen [19:51] any improvements [19:52] in athletics [19:52] in St. Lucia [19:53] yeah I try to go back [19:54] at least once a month [19:55] now I'm very homesick [19:57] so I mean [19:58] after we're indoors [19:59] I had a conversation [20:00] with Coach Flo [20:00] just going back home [20:01] and being with family [20:02] as much as possible [20:03] because I mean [20:04] now I've been away [20:05] for such a long time [20:06] since I was 14 [20:07] I left St. Lucia [20:08] to be on my own [20:09] and chasing my dreams [20:10] so I think that now [20:11] I'm trying to go back [20:11] as much as possible [20:13] to just be with family [20:14] as much as possible [20:15] yeah [20:15] thank you [20:16] Noah as well as a talented [20:18] and hardworking runner [20:20] you also demonstrated [20:21] like this [20:22] a natural ability [20:23] to be an entertainer [20:24] on the track [20:25] how much are you looking [20:26] forward to this [20:27] head-to-head [20:27] not only just with [20:28] Letzili [20:29] but with everyone else [20:30] on the track [20:31] on Thursday [20:31] well I'd say that [20:43] me and Jordan [20:44] have been having [20:45] some immaculate [20:46] training sessions [20:47] if not anything [20:50] just to see [20:51] where we're at [20:51] I'd say [20:52] I'm pretty excited [20:55] it's hard [20:59] because I don't think [21:00] I'm not sure [21:01] I'm debating [21:02] if this is the best shape [21:03] I've been in my life [21:04] at this time period [21:05] or if I'm right [21:07] at where I was [21:08] during the Olympic season [21:10] in 2024 [21:11] but again [21:13] I'm seeing [21:13] some really good things [21:15] and again [21:16] having a good [21:17] training partner [21:18] definitely helps that [21:19] push that boundary [21:20] and I'll say [21:23] we got a show [21:24] we got a show [21:25] to give [21:26] it's not going to be [21:28] it's not going to be [21:29] like the last few [21:30] Diamond Leagues [21:30] it's going to be different [21:32] very good [21:33] thank you [21:33] we're looking forward [21:34] to it [21:34] and just to finish [21:35] with Letzili [21:36] well [21:37] recently [21:38] back home [21:40] in Botswana [21:41] what a crowd [21:42] what an environment [21:43] how much does [21:44] taking part [21:44] in the 4x4 [21:46] as a team member [21:47] shape [21:48] also shapes [21:48] the athletes [21:49] that you are [21:49] already today [21:50] at such a young age [21:51] whole team [21:55] I think [21:57] the oldest one [21:59] is 25 [22:00] so we still have [22:02] a long way [22:02] to go [22:02] as a team [22:03] and we still have [22:04] that same mentality [22:05] that [22:06] that world record [22:08] is soon going [22:09] to be broken [22:10] through [22:11] year in [22:12] year out [22:13] we just missed [22:13] it with a [22:14] millisecond [22:15] but it shaped [22:17] how athletes [22:19] have looked [22:20] into athletics [22:22] in Botswana [22:23] and also [22:24] with the 4x1 [22:25] qualifying [22:25] for its [22:26] first major [22:27] championship [22:28] in Beijing [22:28] so everybody [22:29] is just excited [22:30] to be part [22:32] and puzzle [22:32] of that [22:32] 4x1 [22:34] 4x4 [22:34] because [22:35] they're a bit [22:36] confused [22:37] because 4x4 [22:37] has been dominant [22:38] but I also showed [22:40] people that [22:41] 4x1 can also [22:42] be there [22:43] somewhere [22:44] and people [22:45] were laughing [22:45] when I posted [22:46] it was a rival [22:47] between the United [22:48] States and South [22:49] Africa [22:49] and I posted [22:50] something like [22:51] somewhere in the [22:52] mix [22:52] and then I knew [22:54] that I had to [22:55] go deep [22:56] enough [22:57] so that I can [22:58] put the team [22:59] to qualify [23:00] for Beijing [23:00] and I'm proud [23:01] of that [23:01] so we'll see [23:03] how Beijing [23:03] is going to go [23:04] about [23:04] Thank you [23:06] very much [23:06] thank you [23:07] to the [23:07] four of you [23:08] it's been a [23:08] pleasure [23:08] we're looking [23:09] forward [23:09] Miss Laura [23:13] has a question [23:14] sorry Antonio [23:16] the bus [23:16] was late [23:17] I have a [23:20] quick question [23:20] for both [23:21] Melissa [23:22] and Letzile [23:22] if I may [23:23] you've recently [23:24] been announced [23:25] as ultimate [23:26] stars [23:27] for the [23:27] World Athletics [23:28] Ultimate [23:29] Championships [23:29] and most [23:30] specifically [23:30] as [23:32] the kids [23:33] Athletics [23:34] Ultimate [23:35] Challenge [23:36] team [23:36] captains [23:37] so I [23:38] wanted to [23:38] understand [23:39] how important [23:39] it is [23:40] for you [23:40] to give [23:41] back [23:41] to the [23:43] young [23:43] up-and-coming [23:44] generation [23:45] and how [23:46] much we [23:46] can expect [23:47] the team [23:48] Letzile [23:49] v [23:49] team [23:50] Melissa [23:50] head of [23:52] and thank [23:53] you [23:53] I would [23:57] say for [23:57] me [23:58] it's [23:58] definitely [23:58] an honor [24:00] you know [24:01] a lot [24:02] of you [24:02] may or [24:03] may not [24:03] know [24:04] by now [24:04] but [24:04] I am [24:05] a village [24:05] kid [24:06] you know [24:06] a lot [24:07] of people [24:07] had a hand [24:07] in getting [24:08] me to [24:08] where I [24:08] am [24:09] and the [24:10] most important [24:10] part of [24:12] what I do [24:13] is my [24:13] village [24:14] they are [24:14] the reason [24:15] why I go [24:15] out and do [24:16] the things [24:16] that I do [24:17] because without [24:18] them there is [24:19] no me [24:19] and I feel [24:20] like in [24:21] today's world [24:21] a lot of [24:22] that is [24:22] missing [24:23] with just [24:24] the connection [24:25] between [24:25] you know [24:26] being a [24:27] child [24:27] growing up [24:28] as a [24:29] teenager [24:29] then getting [24:29] off to [24:30] college [24:30] no matter [24:30] where you [24:31] from [24:31] everybody [24:31] deserves [24:32] to have [24:32] a village [24:33] everybody [24:33] deserves [24:34] to have [24:34] someone [24:34] who's [24:35] in [24:35] their [24:35] corner [24:35] and [24:36] any [24:37] chance [24:37] that I [24:38] get [24:38] to be [24:38] a part [24:39] of that [24:39] to [24:39] genuinely [24:40] be [24:40] a part [24:41] of [24:41] something [24:41] that [24:41] might [24:42] change [24:42] the [24:42] trajectory [24:43] of [24:44] someone's [24:45] life [24:45] you know [24:45] I'm [24:45] going to [24:46] do [24:46] it [24:46] and [24:46] then [24:46] to [24:47] also [24:47] be [24:48] kind of [24:50] doing it [24:50] with [24:50] let's [24:51] see [24:51] lay [24:51] which [24:51] is [24:51] who's [24:52] from [24:52] another [24:53] country [24:53] you know [24:54] it just [24:54] speaks volumes [24:55] to [24:55] you know [24:57] there being [24:57] a disconnect [24:58] or [24:58] wanting [24:59] to have [24:59] change [25:00] it [25:00] isn't just [25:01] where you're [25:01] from [25:02] it's [25:02] everywhere [25:02] right [25:03] and so [25:03] for world [25:04] athletics [25:05] to have [25:05] this [25:05] platform [25:06] to be [25:06] able [25:06] to [25:06] on a [25:08] daily [25:09] just [25:09] bring [25:10] that [25:10] atmosphere [25:10] together [25:11] and say [25:11] like you [25:12] know [25:12] we can [25:12] come [25:12] together [25:13] as one [25:13] even [25:13] if it's [25:14] in a [25:14] competitive [25:15] nature [25:15] but be [25:16] able [25:16] to show [25:16] these [25:16] kids [25:17] that hey [25:17] you can [25:18] go [25:18] somewhere [25:18] you can [25:19] be [25:19] something [25:19] and to [25:20] have [25:20] people [25:20] like [25:21] me [25:21] and [25:21] let's [25:22] see [25:22] like [25:22] to [25:22] look [25:22] up [25:22] to [25:23] you [25:23] know [25:23] is [25:24] real [25:24] definitive [25:24] and I [25:25] also [25:25] will [25:25] say [25:26] my [25:26] team [25:36] kids [25:37] athletics [25:37] and [25:38] I [25:38] had [25:38] so [25:39] much [25:39] fun [25:39] working [25:40] with [25:40] kids [25:41] in [25:41] Botswana [25:42] really [25:42] excited [25:43] about [25:43] working [25:44] with [25:45] the [25:45] ultimate [25:46] kids [25:46] so [25:47] I'm [25:48] looking [25:48] forward [25:48] to it [25:49] and I [25:49] know [25:50] both [25:50] me and [25:51] Melissa [25:51] are both [25:52] looking for [25:52] the win [25:53] but [25:53] team [25:53] literally [25:54] for [25:54] the [25:54] win [25:54] if I [25:57] could [25:57] step [25:58] in real [25:58] quick [25:58] is this [25:59] a [25:59] competitive [25:59] thing [26:00] like [26:00] you [26:01] guys [26:01] are [26:01] versing [26:02] each [26:02] other [26:02] yeah [26:03] it's [26:04] my [26:04] team [26:05] against [26:05] his [26:05] team [26:06] and [26:06] is [26:07] like [26:07] co-ed [26:07] like [26:08] is it [26:08] a [26:08] relay [26:09] like [26:09] what [26:10] is [26:10] well [26:10] we're [26:11] going [26:11] to [26:11] see [26:11] but [26:12] basically [26:12] like [26:13] it's [26:13] kind [26:13] of [26:13] like [26:14] you [26:14] know [26:14] how [26:14] you [26:14] have [26:14] team [26:14] USA [26:15] but [26:15] you [26:15] have [26:15] all [26:15] the [26:16] different [26:16] events [26:16] and [26:17] things [26:17] like [26:17] that [26:17] it's [26:17] kind [26:17] of [26:17] like [26:17] that [26:18] but [26:18] yeah [26:18] probably [26:19] scoring points [26:20] and all [26:20] that [26:21] scoring [26:22] points [26:22] yeah [26:23] yeah [26:23] there will [26:25] be [26:25] greatness [26:26] can I [26:27] bet on [26:28] this [26:28] suddenly [26:31] very [26:31] interested [26:32] there [26:32] suddenly [26:33] woke up [26:33] any [26:34] more [26:35] questions [26:35] Laura [26:35] or [26:35] anyone [26:36] else [26:36] I think [26:38] it's [26:38] fair [26:39] to [26:39] say [26:39] thank [26:39] you [26:39] very [26:39] much [26:39] to [26:40] the [26:40] athletes [26:40] it's [26:40] been [26:41] a [26:41] pleasure [26:41] we're [26:41] looking [26:41] forward [26:42] to [26:42] seeing [26:42] you [26:42] shining [26:43] on [26:43] the [26:43] track [26:43] as [26:43] usual [26:43] I'm [26:44] just [26:44] going to [26:44] ask [26:45] you [26:45] to [26:45] follow [26:45] our [26:45] colleague [26:45] Federico Pasquali [26:46] to take [26:47] to your [26:47] one-to-one [26:48] interviews [26:48] you're not [26:49] done yet [26:49] just [26:49] with us [26:50] here [26:50] thank you [26:51] yes [26:51] Federico [26:52] just [26:52] question [26:53] photo first [26:55] one-to-ones [1:12:10] and I [1:12:11] please welcome [1:12:12] in joining [1:12:13] our [1:12:13] athletes [1:12:14] Ryan Krauser [1:12:15] from the [1:12:15] United States [1:12:16] Olympic [1:12:17] three-time [1:12:17] Olympic [1:12:17] champion [1:12:18] three-time [1:12:19] world champion [1:12:19] and world record [1:12:20] holder with a [1:12:21] throw of 23-56 [1:12:22] Leonardo Fabri [1:12:24] Diamond League [1:12:25] final winner [1:12:25] World silver [1:12:26] and bronze [1:12:27] medalist [1:12:28] and the [1:12:28] pride of [1:12:28] Florence [1:12:29] Keely [1:12:30] Otkinson [1:12:30] from the [1:12:31] Great [1:12:31] Britain [1:12:32] reigning [1:12:32] Olympic [1:12:33] champion [1:12:33] Diamond [1:12:33] League [1:12:34] final winner [1:12:34] and world [1:12:35] silver [1:12:35] and bronze [1:12:36] medalist [1:12:36] and [1:12:37] last but not [1:12:38] the least [1:12:38] Nadia [1:12:39] Battocletti [1:12:39] world indoor [1:12:40] champion [1:12:41] Olympic [1:12:41] and world [1:12:42] medalist [1:12:42] and [1:12:43] who's [1:12:43] had a go [1:12:43] at all [1:12:44] different [1:12:44] track [1:12:45] road [1:12:46] cross-country [1:12:47] you name [1:12:47] it [1:12:47] and [1:12:48] Nadia [1:12:48] has run [1:12:48] it [1:12:48] guys [1:12:49] thank you [1:12:49] very much [1:12:50] for joining [1:12:50] us [1:12:51] welcome [1:12:51] to Rome [1:12:52] and really [1:12:53] appreciate [1:12:53] you taking [1:12:53] the time [1:12:54] to be [1:12:54] here [1:12:54] with us [1:12:55] we'll start [1:12:57] with [1:12:57] you [1:12:59] Ryan [1:12:59] for some [1:13:02] this might [1:13:02] be considered [1:13:02] like an [1:13:03] off year [1:13:03] what does [1:13:04] Golden [1:13:05] Gala [1:13:05] Rome [1:13:05] the Diamond [1:13:06] League [1:13:06] circuits [1:13:06] and this [1:13:07] year [1:13:07] this season [1:13:08] in general [1:13:08] present to [1:13:09] you [1:13:09] in terms [1:13:09] of [1:13:10] opportunities [1:13:10] to train [1:13:11] what you [1:13:11] want [1:13:11] to train [1:13:12] for you [1:13:13] Ryan [1:13:13] yeah [1:13:13] yeah [1:13:15] so I'm [1:13:16] happy to be [1:13:17] here excited [1:13:17] to compete [1:13:18] I feel like [1:13:19] I'm kind of [1:13:20] trending upwards [1:13:20] coming off [1:13:21] this last [1:13:22] competition [1:13:22] so just [1:13:24] another [1:13:24] opportunity [1:13:25] to compete [1:13:26] and it's a [1:13:26] fantastic stadium [1:13:28] I mean [1:13:28] we always joke [1:13:29] that it's the most [1:13:30] beautiful warm-up track [1:13:31] in the world [1:13:31] and so to compete [1:13:33] in a stadium [1:13:34] in a city [1:13:35] that has so much [1:13:36] history [1:13:36] around our sport [1:13:37] is really [1:13:38] one thing [1:13:39] that I'm always [1:13:40] excited to come [1:13:40] to Rome for [1:13:41] and at the time [1:13:43] of the year [1:13:43] where it's just [1:13:44] exciting to see [1:13:45] self-improvement [1:13:45] so I haven't [1:13:46] had a fantastic [1:13:46] start to the year [1:13:47] but to see [1:13:49] new seasons [1:13:49] best is a good [1:13:50] feeling [1:13:50] and coming off [1:13:51] of injury [1:13:52] just gaining [1:13:52] confidence [1:13:53] it feels like [1:13:54] a refreshing start [1:13:55] to a time [1:13:57] in the sport [1:13:57] where this year [1:13:58] really doesn't [1:13:58] have the [1:13:59] significance [1:13:59] of a major [1:14:00] so just [1:14:01] seeing that [1:14:01] self-improvement [1:14:02] has been good [1:14:03] and excited [1:14:04] to compete [1:14:05] in Rome [1:14:06] against a [1:14:06] fantastic field [1:14:07] Fabri [1:14:08] as well as [1:14:09] yeah we have [1:14:09] all of the top [1:14:10] guys in the world [1:14:11] here so [1:14:11] it should be [1:14:12] good competition [1:14:13] thank you [1:14:14] as a coach [1:14:15] what do you feel [1:14:16] that it still [1:14:16] needs to be done [1:14:17] in terms of [1:14:17] training [1:14:17] preparation [1:14:18] to have more [1:14:19] throwers [1:14:20] throwing like [1:14:20] 22 23 [1:14:21] consistently [1:14:22] and is the [1:14:23] 24 meters [1:14:24] still just a [1:14:24] dream or a [1:14:25] possibility [1:14:25] yeah I don't [1:14:26] I don't want [1:14:27] to give too [1:14:27] much advice [1:14:28] on these guys [1:14:28] to throw [1:14:29] 22 or 23 [1:14:30] consistently [1:14:30] 24 yes [1:14:32] for me [1:14:34] I don't know [1:14:36] about you [1:14:36] yeah I think [1:14:39] 24 meters [1:14:40] is possible [1:14:41] it's [1:14:42] it's [1:14:43] there's so many [1:14:43] variables that go [1:14:44] into a throw [1:14:45] like that [1:14:45] you have to be [1:14:45] in good shape [1:14:46] physically [1:14:47] confident [1:14:48] mentally [1:14:48] and then [1:14:50] just have the [1:14:50] technique all [1:14:51] come together [1:14:52] the most difficult [1:14:53] thing I think [1:14:53] that people [1:14:54] even myself [1:14:55] fail to realize [1:14:56] for a long time [1:14:57] is the pieces [1:14:58] can all be there [1:14:58] but putting them [1:14:59] together in an [1:15:00] organic way [1:15:01] you know that [1:15:02] you can do it [1:15:03] and that is [1:15:04] what keeps you [1:15:05] from doing it [1:15:05] you try too hard [1:15:06] you try to make [1:15:07] it happen [1:15:07] instead of being [1:15:08] loose and relaxed [1:15:09] and letting those [1:15:10] big throws happen [1:15:10] that's the most [1:15:11] difficult thing I think [1:15:12] around those really [1:15:13] far throws [1:15:14] especially as you [1:15:14] approach 24 meters [1:15:15] but I mean [1:15:17] the sport of [1:15:18] shot put is at [1:15:19] such a high level [1:15:20] right now [1:15:20] that you're seeing [1:15:22] just the [1:15:23] athletes in the [1:15:24] sport right now [1:15:25] are technically [1:15:26] much more proficient [1:15:27] than even they were [1:15:28] when I first started [1:15:29] throwing professionally [1:15:30] in 2016 [1:15:31] you've seen [1:15:32] big evolution [1:15:33] in the sport [1:15:33] with just [1:15:35] technically [1:15:35] biomechanics [1:15:36] everything [1:15:37] the sport has [1:15:38] gotten much more [1:15:38] competitive [1:15:39] so it's an [1:15:40] exciting time [1:15:41] it's a very level [1:15:42] field right now [1:15:43] there's no [1:15:43] big outstanding [1:15:45] throw that's [1:15:46] or thrower [1:15:47] that's at the top [1:15:48] so it makes [1:15:49] the sport exciting [1:15:49] because the bottom [1:15:50] the bottom level [1:15:51] has brought up [1:15:52] drastically [1:15:52] so it's a [1:15:54] it's a competition [1:15:55] right now [1:15:55] where anyone can win [1:15:56] thank you very much [1:15:57] we go over to [1:15:58] Leo [1:15:58] you're chasing [1:16:00] the 23 meter [1:16:01] obviously the 24 [1:16:02] as well [1:16:02] how special [1:16:04] would it be [1:16:04] to do it here [1:16:05] at Diamond League [1:16:06] in Rome [1:16:06] yeah that would be [1:16:08] very special [1:16:09] in front of the [1:16:09] home crowd [1:16:10] but I haven't [1:16:11] thrown 22 yet [1:16:12] this season [1:16:12] just threw in [1:16:13] February [1:16:14] so I suppose [1:16:15] must throw 22 [1:16:16] and then of course [1:16:17] we're chasing the [1:16:18] 23 for the rest [1:16:19] of the season [1:16:19] you've skipped [1:16:21] the European [1:16:21] throwing cup [1:16:21] earlier this season [1:16:22] are you pacing [1:16:23] yourself because [1:16:23] it's going to be [1:16:24] a packed one [1:16:24] for you with [1:16:25] Europeans as well [1:16:26] of course [1:16:27] yeah I'm pacing [1:16:28] a little bit [1:16:29] we're just planning [1:16:29] to be in the best [1:16:31] shape for Birmingham [1:16:32] but I'm just [1:16:33] struggling a little [1:16:34] bit with technique [1:16:34] but hopefully [1:16:37] it's getting better [1:16:37] now after a few [1:16:38] competitions [1:16:39] so I'm confident [1:16:40] for tomorrow [1:16:40] and for the rest [1:16:41] of the season [1:16:42] thank you very much [1:16:43] talking about Birmingham [1:16:44] I'll go to [1:16:44] Kili Oshkinson [1:16:45] that will be [1:16:45] home champs for you [1:16:46] Kili you are [1:16:48] fearless on the track [1:16:49] very honest and confident [1:16:50] also in everything [1:16:51] else that you do [1:16:52] are you living [1:16:53] your best moment [1:16:53] at the moment [1:16:54] yes [1:16:55] that's all I gotta say [1:16:57] what can we expect [1:16:59] from you this season [1:17:00] knowing that you [1:17:01] are in good shape [1:17:02] but you're also [1:17:03] in a very good [1:17:03] headspace [1:17:04] and you are [1:17:04] enjoying yourself [1:17:04] yeah I think [1:17:07] I'm just going to [1:17:08] take it week by week [1:17:09] I've kind of in my [1:17:10] head split the season [1:17:11] up into like two halves [1:17:12] I think we have [1:17:13] like sort of [1:17:14] the Diamond Leagues [1:17:15] first and then [1:17:16] after I've competed [1:17:17] in London [1:17:18] we'll then look to [1:17:19] the Europeans [1:17:19] and the Ultimates [1:17:20] after that [1:17:21] but I think [1:17:22] it's a really [1:17:22] exciting year [1:17:23] I'm happy [1:17:24] with where I am [1:17:25] physically [1:17:25] mentally [1:17:26] everything [1:17:26] I'm just literally [1:17:27] enjoying everything [1:17:28] so yeah [1:17:29] well you'll be enjoying [1:17:30] the 400 tomorrow [1:17:31] which is quite unusual [1:17:32] for you to do [1:17:32] but we have seen [1:17:33] some performance [1:17:34] earlier this season [1:17:36] at World Indoors [1:17:36] when you also took [1:17:37] part in the relay [1:17:38] yeah I'm really [1:17:40] excited for tomorrow [1:17:40] I'm grateful [1:17:41] to have the opportunity [1:17:42] to race some [1:17:43] of the best girls [1:17:44] in the world [1:17:44] I'm very privileged [1:17:46] to be on that [1:17:46] start line with them [1:17:47] so I'm hoping [1:17:48] they pull something [1:17:49] grey out of me [1:17:49] and yeah [1:17:51] stay tuned [1:17:51] should they fear you [1:17:52] always [1:17:53] I think you've got [1:17:54] to respect everyone [1:17:55] you never know [1:17:55] what's going to happen [1:17:56] but obviously [1:17:57] I'm competitive [1:17:59] I believe I belong there [1:18:01] and I'm going to do [1:18:02] my best [1:18:02] to be up there [1:18:03] with them [1:18:04] yeah and you do [1:18:04] have an European [1:18:05] under 23 medal [1:18:06] at this distance [1:18:07] so it's not the first time [1:18:08] so just a reminder [1:18:09] everyone [1:18:09] okay brilliant [1:18:11] thank you very much [1:18:11] Nadia [1:18:12] pleasure [1:18:13] here we are again [1:18:14] every time you compete [1:18:16] every time I interview you [1:18:17] there is also something else [1:18:18] that you do [1:18:19] you're doing along [1:18:20] or you're training [1:18:20] it's never straightforward [1:18:22] so either it's been [1:18:23] your exams [1:18:24] your thesis [1:18:24] fasting [1:18:25] how's the preparation [1:18:26] been this far [1:18:27] has it been smooth [1:18:29] as you would expect [1:18:30] or is there something else [1:18:31] that you've got going on [1:18:32] it was tough [1:18:34] because last week [1:18:36] I had flu [1:18:37] so it's really tough [1:18:39] but it's okay [1:18:40] I think Golden Gala [1:18:41] it's an opportunity [1:18:43] for me [1:18:43] and for all Italian [1:18:45] fans [1:18:46] so I'm so happy [1:18:47] to be here [1:18:48] and in a healthy shape [1:18:50] is this the year [1:18:51] that you want to get [1:18:52] that win [1:18:53] across the line [1:18:53] here at Diamond League [1:18:54] that you've been aiming [1:18:55] so much [1:18:56] for so long [1:18:56] I hope so [1:18:58] I don't know [1:18:59] of course [1:19:01] tomorrow [1:19:01] the race [1:19:03] will be [1:19:04] really really fast [1:19:05] so the focus [1:19:06] is to complete [1:19:08] in the best [1:19:09] way [1:19:10] the race [1:19:11] brilliant [1:19:12] thank you very much [1:19:12] I'll open the floor [1:19:14] to the questions [1:19:14] so if you've got a question [1:19:17] just put your hand up [1:19:18] thank you very much [1:19:18] and someone will bring [1:19:19] a microphone to you [1:19:20] if you could just state [1:19:21] your name [1:19:21] and the media outlet [1:19:22] I have a question [1:19:25] for Kili [1:19:25] please [1:19:26] are you going [1:19:29] to use [1:19:30] the [1:19:31] tomorrow [1:19:32] 400 [1:19:33] as a fast [1:19:34] training [1:19:35] for the try [1:19:37] of July 18 [1:19:38] to beat [1:19:39] the [1:19:40] 800 world record [1:19:42] I mean [1:19:43] even if it's not [1:19:44] on July 18 [1:19:46] it's not your birthday [1:19:47] it's not March [1:19:48] and so [1:19:50] and you have to cut [1:19:51] a second [1:19:52] so it will be [1:19:53] pretty hard [1:19:54] thanks [1:19:54] I'll be [1:19:58] using tomorrow [1:19:59] as a stimulus [1:19:59] of fun [1:20:01] to be competitive [1:20:01] and to also [1:20:02] do something different [1:20:03] I think the last [1:20:04] couple years [1:20:04] I've said [1:20:05] that I've wanted [1:20:06] to work on my [1:20:06] 400 speed [1:20:07] and that it [1:20:07] hopefully the plan [1:20:08] is it will help [1:20:09] my 800 [1:20:09] but I've been unable [1:20:11] to do that [1:20:11] with some injuries [1:20:12] I've had over the years [1:20:13] so I feel like [1:20:14] this is the first time [1:20:15] in about [1:20:15] probably two years [1:20:17] that I've been able [1:20:17] to put together [1:20:18] like an actual [1:20:19] bit of 400 block work [1:20:20] and hopefully come out [1:20:22] and do something great [1:20:23] with that [1:20:23] so it's a bit of [1:20:24] a personal challenge [1:20:25] but also [1:20:25] yeah I think it will [1:20:26] help me towards [1:20:27] my 800 [1:20:28] and that getting faster [1:20:29] thank you [1:20:31] other questions [1:20:33] I'll ask a question [1:20:40] to all of you [1:20:41] so you being [1:20:42] as competitive [1:20:43] and elite athletes [1:20:44] that you are [1:20:44] you're always [1:20:45] performing on the [1:20:47] back of world championships [1:20:47] leading up to [1:20:48] Olympics [1:20:49] or other [1:20:50] major [1:20:51] major [1:20:51] major [1:20:51] events [1:20:53] how does that [1:20:55] four-year cycle [1:20:56] impact [1:20:57] not only just [1:20:58] your training [1:20:58] but also your [1:20:59] personal life [1:20:59] and if there are [1:21:01] any things that you [1:21:01] need to put on hold [1:21:02] if you have to put on hold [1:21:04] because you need to [1:21:04] focus on your training [1:21:05] and the Olympics [1:21:06] or the world championships [1:21:07] will come first [1:21:08] we'll start with [1:21:09] Ryan [1:21:09] yeah I mean [1:21:11] it's been quite a stretch [1:21:13] with all the way back [1:21:14] to 2020 [1:21:15] with the Olympics [1:21:15] being postponed [1:21:16] so it's been [1:21:17] yeah [1:21:18] even longer than [1:21:19] four years [1:21:20] with majors [1:21:21] and so yeah [1:21:23] it's this year [1:21:24] I'll be doing my honeymoon [1:21:25] we [1:21:26] my wife and I skipped [1:21:28] our honeymoon [1:21:29] this past year [1:21:30] and so we're working [1:21:32] on scheduling that [1:21:33] after the end of this season [1:21:34] it's a little bit tough [1:21:35] because she's a medical resident [1:21:37] she's a doctor [1:21:38] so my career [1:21:40] kind of revolves around hers [1:21:41] a little bit [1:21:41] we moved to Nashville [1:21:42] this past year [1:21:43] for her residency [1:21:44] so it'll be nice [1:21:46] to get a honeymoon [1:21:47] finally [1:21:48] after a little over [1:21:50] almost a year [1:21:51] there we go [1:21:52] we hope you enjoy it [1:21:53] well deserved [1:21:53] can you repeat the question [1:21:55] the question is that [1:21:56] how does the Olympic cycle [1:21:58] like the four year cycle [1:21:59] impact on your performance [1:22:00] on your training [1:22:01] but also on your personal life [1:22:02] if there's anything [1:22:03] that you are putting on hold [1:22:04] because you are focusing [1:22:05] on your training [1:22:06] on your career [1:22:06] as an athlete [1:22:07] yeah [1:22:08] well I guess I'm only 24 [1:22:09] so I don't want me to put [1:22:10] that much on hold so far [1:22:12] but [1:22:13] I think [1:22:14] the world [1:22:15] the world of track [1:22:16] does tend to work [1:22:16] in four year cycles [1:22:17] I think after each Olympic [1:22:18] you see some people [1:22:19] change their set up [1:22:20] or try new things [1:22:21] and this and that [1:22:22] but [1:22:22] it's been a busy [1:22:24] last five years [1:22:25] six years [1:22:25] global championships [1:22:26] every year [1:22:26] which has been tough [1:22:27] so I'm just kind of [1:22:29] used to that [1:22:30] but [1:22:30] yeah [1:22:31] I think it's fun [1:22:32] I'm really looking forward [1:22:32] to LA [1:22:33] I think that's going to be [1:22:33] really exciting [1:22:34] so [1:22:34] all good [1:22:35] Nadia [1:22:37] I don't know what to say [1:22:40] but [1:22:41] for me [1:22:42] it's really important [1:22:44] to focus [1:22:44] any season [1:22:46] in one important goal [1:22:48] so [1:22:49] last year [1:22:50] were champs [1:22:50] two years ago [1:22:51] Olympics [1:22:52] this year [1:22:53] European championship [1:22:54] and [1:22:55] every season [1:22:57] became super super busy [1:22:59] especially for me [1:23:01] cross country [1:23:02] indoors roads [1:23:03] so [1:23:04] it's something difficult [1:23:06] but if you have [1:23:07] a staff that support you [1:23:09] and make something easy [1:23:12] to you [1:23:12] it's better [1:23:12] is it fair to say [1:23:14] that you never put [1:23:14] anything on hold [1:23:15] because you're always [1:23:15] doing something [1:23:16] alongside your training [1:23:17] excuse me [1:23:18] is it fair to say [1:23:19] that you never put [1:23:19] anything on hold [1:23:20] because you're always [1:23:21] doing something else [1:23:21] alongside your training [1:23:22] yeah [1:23:24] yeah [1:23:24] Leo [1:23:25] same question for you [1:23:27] me I think [1:23:28] just living day by day [1:23:30] without thinking much [1:23:31] about [1:23:31] now in this case [1:23:32] LA [1:23:32] and [1:23:33] of course [1:23:35] I'm still upset [1:23:36] and got fire inside [1:23:37] from what happened [1:23:38] in Paris [1:23:38] but still [1:23:39] it's very important [1:23:40] living step by step [1:23:42] trying to be [1:23:43] to be better [1:23:44] every day [1:23:44] and [1:23:45] that's it [1:23:46] I mean [1:23:47] short put is one thing [1:23:49] but then [1:23:49] we are also human [1:23:50] so it's important [1:23:52] to live [1:23:52] our life [1:23:53] but just [1:23:53] try to be [1:23:54] to be better [1:23:55] 1% every day [1:23:56] and just to finish [1:23:58] also a question [1:23:58] a question for everyone [1:24:01] and I'll start with [1:24:02] you Ryan [1:24:02] most outrageous [1:24:03] ambition for 2026 [1:24:05] on and off [1:24:06] the track [1:24:07] or in your case [1:24:07] on and off the circle [1:24:08] that's a tough one [1:24:11] I mean for me [1:24:12] it's still [1:24:14] the focus is on [1:24:14] 2028 [1:24:15] even in 2026 [1:24:16] the second half [1:24:19] of my career [1:24:19] at this point [1:24:21] and so [1:24:21] the [1:24:22] timeline [1:24:24] or horizon [1:24:24] stretches out [1:24:25] a little bit farther [1:24:26] and so focusing [1:24:27] still on that [1:24:28] so really [1:24:29] that's where [1:24:29] a lot of my ambitions [1:24:30] are [1:24:30] I would say [1:24:30] off the track [1:24:32] I've got the biggest [1:24:33] portion of it [1:24:34] like ambitions [1:24:34] for the year done [1:24:35] with the move [1:24:35] to Nashville [1:24:36] setting up a new [1:24:37] training center [1:24:38] and doing a lot [1:24:39] of the construction [1:24:39] work to build myself [1:24:40] so yeah [1:24:42] setting up a [1:24:42] 5,000 square foot [1:24:44] training center [1:24:45] and having multiple [1:24:46] I think we've got [1:24:46] four Olympians [1:24:47] training there [1:24:48] as well as [1:24:49] yeah [1:24:50] another Olympic gold [1:24:50] medalist [1:24:51] with Roger Stona [1:24:51] the athlete [1:24:52] that I coach [1:24:52] so that feels [1:24:54] like the big hurdle [1:24:54] that I've gotten [1:24:55] over in the [1:24:56] first half [1:24:57] of 2026 [1:24:57] so now [1:24:58] it's a little [1:24:59] easier [1:24:59] taking off [1:25:01] the construction [1:25:02] and hard hat [1:25:03] and just being [1:25:04] an athlete [1:25:04] and what about [1:25:05] the world [1:25:05] short put series [1:25:06] how do you see [1:25:07] it grow [1:25:07] yeah so [1:25:08] world short put [1:25:09] series [1:25:09] we already had [1:25:09] one successful [1:25:10] event in [1:25:10] Drake [1:25:11] here in Des Moines [1:25:12] with Drake Relays [1:25:13] we have another [1:25:14] big one coming up [1:25:15] here July 10th [1:25:16] in Memphis [1:25:17] so that's an [1:25:17] exciting one [1:25:18] for me [1:25:19] because we'll be [1:25:19] on Beale Street [1:25:21] in the Bar District [1:25:22] in Memphis [1:25:23] and so [1:25:23] the big thing [1:25:25] with world [1:25:26] short put series [1:25:26] is it brings [1:25:27] the sport [1:25:28] to people [1:25:28] that wouldn't [1:25:29] conventionally see [1:25:30] track and field [1:25:31] events [1:25:31] and what we [1:25:32] struggle with [1:25:32] as a sport [1:25:33] is conveying [1:25:34] how good we are [1:25:35] at what we do [1:25:36] you watch the world [1:25:37] champs [1:25:38] to the average [1:25:39] spectator [1:25:40] they see [1:25:40] first place [1:25:41] at the world [1:25:42] champ being good [1:25:43] and number eight [1:25:43] in the world [1:25:44] as being bad [1:25:45] they don't realize [1:25:46] how many standard [1:25:47] deviations [1:25:47] first and eighth [1:25:49] are from the [1:25:49] average person [1:25:50] we do an open ring [1:25:52] put the line [1:25:53] at about [1:25:53] it'd be six meters [1:25:55] and less than half [1:25:56] people can throw [1:25:56] six meters [1:25:57] so when they see [1:25:58] someone come out [1:25:59] and throw [1:26:00] 20, 21, 22 meters [1:26:02] it's absolutely [1:26:03] mind-blowing [1:26:03] because you're [1:26:04] throwing three times [1:26:05] farther than [1:26:06] the average person [1:26:07] can't throw [1:26:07] so that's a passion [1:26:10] project of mine [1:26:11] and I have to [1:26:13] remind myself [1:26:14] that I'm an [1:26:14] athlete first [1:26:15] and I'm not [1:26:16] necessarily a [1:26:17] construction worker [1:26:18] as well as [1:26:19] a meet promoter [1:26:21] so I definitely [1:26:22] have to manage [1:26:23] that side [1:26:23] when I'm done [1:26:25] being an athlete [1:26:25] that's I think [1:26:26] when World Shopper [1:26:26] Series will really [1:26:27] put on a [1:26:29] 10, 12 meet [1:26:29] series [1:26:30] and grow [1:26:31] as a true [1:26:32] series or league [1:26:33] but it's a fun [1:26:35] passion project [1:26:36] right now [1:26:37] yeah thank you [1:26:38] very much [1:26:38] and good luck [1:26:38] with it [1:26:39] Kili same question [1:26:40] most outrageous [1:26:41] ambitions for [1:26:42] 2026 [1:26:43] on and off [1:26:44] the track [1:26:44] that is a [1:26:46] tough question [1:26:47] probably going to [1:26:48] give you a boring [1:26:48] answer [1:26:49] but I'm not [1:26:51] really someone [1:26:51] who I don't [1:26:52] really like to [1:26:52] set goals [1:26:52] that much [1:26:53] anymore [1:26:53] I'm very much [1:26:54] a go with the [1:26:55] flow type of [1:26:55] person [1:26:56] see what life [1:26:57] throws at you [1:26:57] and I'm genuinely [1:26:58] in a place in my [1:26:59] life where I have [1:27:00] everything I could [1:27:01] ever want [1:27:01] I'm happy [1:27:02] I love what I do [1:27:04] I wake up and go [1:27:04] to work every day [1:27:05] and just love it [1:27:06] so yeah [1:27:08] if I say one thing [1:27:09] I'd probably like [1:27:10] like to be undefeated [1:27:11] in the 800 this year [1:27:12] that would be nice [1:27:13] so yeah [1:27:14] I'll stick with that [1:27:15] yeah that was not [1:27:16] boring at all [1:27:17] that was just sincere [1:27:18] and doesn't have to be [1:27:19] all singing and dancing [1:27:20] all the time [1:27:20] you're happy where you [1:27:21] are [1:27:21] well done [1:27:21] thank you very much [1:27:22] Nadia [1:27:23] most ambitious [1:27:24] most outrageous [1:27:25] ambition for 2026 [1:27:26] on and off the track [1:27:27] I think the European [1:27:30] championship [1:27:30] in Birmingham [1:27:32] and then the European [1:27:34] cross country [1:27:35] so I think [1:27:36] it's completely [1:27:37] different surfaces [1:27:38] but that's [1:27:39] that's Nadia [1:27:40] for you [1:27:40] yes [1:27:40] Leo just to finish [1:27:42] with you [1:27:42] for me I would say [1:27:44] of course [1:27:45] European champs [1:27:46] and then I feel [1:27:47] capable of [1:27:48] European record [1:27:49] which is 23-06 [1:27:50] and that's [1:27:51] the biggest one [1:27:52] and how much [1:27:53] would you be looking [1:27:54] forward to seeing [1:27:55] Diamond League [1:27:55] Golden Gala [1:27:56] going back to Florence [1:27:57] at some point [1:27:57] yeah that would be [1:27:58] that would be amazing [1:27:59] and I would say [1:28:00] that most of the [1:28:01] athletes would agree [1:28:02] with me [1:28:02] because all of them [1:28:03] really like it [1:28:04] me of course [1:28:05] most of them [1:28:06] more of them [1:28:07] but I hope [1:28:09] there will be a space [1:28:10] for Florence in the future [1:28:11] because it's [1:28:11] lovely stadium [1:28:12] brilliant [1:28:13] thank you very much [1:28:14] last chance [1:28:14] for questions [1:28:15] from the floor [1:28:16] still have athletes [1:28:18] here [1:28:18] if there are any [1:28:21] I've got any [1:28:21] either [1:28:22] so I'm just going [1:28:22] to thank you [1:28:23] the athletes again [1:28:23] thank you very much [1:28:24] for being here [1:28:24] with us today [1:28:25] I will ask you [1:28:25] to follow our [1:28:26] colleague Federico [1:28:27] after taking a photo [1:28:28] thank you very much [1:28:32] thank you [1:28:34] thank you [1:28:36] thanks [1:28:36] for being mary [1:28:38] happy [1:28:44] thank you
