It has always been the position of the prosecution to expedite [1:51] the pre-trial conference and that is why we would want really to finish this [1:57] marking today. No? Now after the marking of all exhibits for both parties, we [2:09] anticipate to receive the pre-trial order from the impeachment court and after the [2:15] receipt of the pre-trial order, of course both parties are given opportunity to file [2:20] the respective comment if they desire to do so. And what is important of course is [2:26] with regards to the start of the trial, it is certain that it will commence on July [2:33] 6 as previously announced by the Senate. Now about the pre-trial order, this is [2:42] very important because it contains the stipulations of facts admitted by the [2:47] parties, it contains the list of witnesses, it contains the mark exhibits, it has to [2:55] contain as well even the trial dates and I understand we filed our manifestation as [3:01] well with respect to the order of presentation of the four articles which we [3:05] anticipate will be included as well in the pre-trial order. The pre-trial order is [3:10] very important because this is binding between the parties including the [3:15] impeachment court. Whatever is contained there at must be followed by all parties as [3:21] we proceed to trial of the articles of impeachment. Another important thing for [3:27] today, we would like to introduce of course our legal spokesperson. He is one of the [3:37] assisting counsels and of course is a ring abogado de Campanilla. Tolosa Jr. As legal spokesperson, he will be speaking in behalf of the prosecution team, particularly with respect to the developments that are happening in the proceedings of the impeachment trial. [4:21] When we start the trial on July 6, 2026. So for the information of the public, [4:29] Attorney Tolosa is the founding and managing partner and head of the litigation and dispute resolution practice of the Tolosa, [4:40] Co-Lim and Chua Law firm where he leads a team of over 25 lawyers handling complex and high-stakes disputes. He is likewise the in-house counsel of Fortune Global 500 multinational corporations, Philippines Affiliate. [7:29] In fact, it's one of the most important accountability mechanisms for public officials under the Constitution. [7:37] So as a trial lawyer, I found it to be a meaningful opportunity to place my experience in the service of that process. [7:48] So for now, as mentioned by Cong Jinki, I will focus on acting as a spokesperson. [7:59] But of course, the main spokespersons will still be Congressman Adyong and Co. [8:05] And main purpose, I guess, for me is since I will be actively participating in the trial as well, and I'll be inside the courtroom, if there are quick updates that I need to communicate to the public and answer questions that you may have, I'll be available and provide that information to you. [8:23] So I would like to clarify my earlier statement. [8:30] Attorney Jay Tolosa is not only a legal spokesperson. [17:16] And as a matter of fact, we consider that as one of the limitations and challenges [17:21] in our objective to proceed and terminate at the soonest possible time, [17:29] the instant pre-trial conference. [17:36] Ma'am, could you describe how vital the pre-trial conference is [17:39] when it comes to shoring up or bolstering the prosecution team's case [17:46] sa bagiging trial po ni Vice President Sara Duterte? [17:55] Ito pong pre-trial order na ito ay pinagkasunduan ng dalawang parties, [18:03] the defense and the prosecution, [18:06] with, of course, the intervention of the impeachment court. [18:12] This is supposed to serve as the blueprint, the guide, the roadmap [18:19] in the upcoming impeachment trial. [18:23] In other words, matters which were not incorporated in the pre-trial order [18:31] cannot be presented during the trial. [18:35] By pinagkasunduan, what we meant is, with respect to the trial that will happen, [18:43] matters which can be agreed upon by the parties are included in the PTO, [18:48] and matters which cannot be agreed upon by the parties [18:52] are considered as disputed issues and controversies [18:56] and they should be included as well in the pre-trial order. [18:59] As to the significance, mahalaga po ito dahil ito dapat ang susundin [19:06] sa paglilitis na gaganapin. [23:52] Maybe this is an indication that there's really no intention to produce all of those witnesses. [23:57] But of course, we don't want to pre-empt what actions they would want to do.
