Lisa Vanderpump dishes on the new season of Hulu’s ‘Vanderpump Villa’

Do you like your set? You've got all the graphics. [1:03] I wish this would follow me around. Look, rose petals. Yeah, it's a blast. Vanderpump Village just [1:09] started streaming. We were in England for a couple of months. Donut was there too. Donut's actually [1:14] the mascot for the Vanderpump Dog Foundation. We've saved thousands of dogs together. So he's out and [1:19] about. Yeah, it's just a wonderful show. And this year, it's very different because all the guests [1:25] are reality stars in the English countryside. People from The Challenge, The Bachelor, [1:31] Love Overboard. It was just fantastic. Yeah, we can't wait to see it. And of course, [1:35] we're loving the fact that Donut is here and all the incredible work that he's been doing. You said [1:39] thousands of dogs, at least 3,000. 3,000 dogs, but that's just in Los Angeles. The Vanderpump Dog [1:44] Foundation has reached far and wide. So the show has gone from France to Italy and now your home country [1:50] in England. Where do you dream of going in your fourth season? Wow. We've been talking about it, [1:57] but there's just so many wonderful places in the world. It's really finding the right premises. [2:03] I think it was a natural fit because I lived in France for so many years. And Italy, I knew very [2:07] well. And England obviously was my home. But the next step, I mean, to find something majestic. I think [2:13] there's many countries we haven't visited. I think, well, it's still our oyster. For people who have never [2:18] worked in the service industry, what are some things that you think they can learn from watching? [2:23] Well, they can definitely learn what not to do. [2:29] I think people don't realize if they're not in the service industry, just how much of a theater [2:35] it really is, how much it's upstairs and downstairs or back of house and front of house. And I think [2:40] that's really kind of funny when you watch that on television. All your shows that have shown the good, [2:45] the bad, the ugly side of the service industry. What is one misconception about the service industry [2:51] that you don't think people quite understand? Well, I think when I've seen people say, oh, [2:56] she's just a waitress or she's a waitress and kind of in a patronizing way, I don't think they realize [3:02] how difficult that job can be. Being on your feet all the time, the timing of everything that's [3:08] involved in good service. And I think that, you know, I was always taught, don't get into a taxi [3:15] unless you can afford to pay the tip. And I think tipping and showing your service that you really [3:19] appreciate them is very important. Lisa, I have to ask you because, of course, [3:24] there's been the controversy surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul, who is set to be ABC's Bachelorette. [3:29] Her ex was also set to be in an episode this season, but the show made the decision to edit him out. [3:35] Can you elaborate on why that was done? Well, he's not totally out. He's there. But we just cut [3:40] back his storyline a little bit because it was so controversial. It kind of brought a different [3:46] energy after, you know, what had been shown. But I mean, he's still there, but he wasn't front and [3:52] center in the first place. So, yeah, it was just easier to do that right now. Understood. Well, [3:57] this year Bravo launched a new generation of the reality series Vanderpump Rules. How does this [4:02] generation of servers compare to the previous and can you compare? I don't think you can. It's [4:08] apples and oranges, really. But you have to remember when we first started Vanderpump Rules [4:11] so many years ago, the world has moved on. There was hardly any social media. I think now this [4:17] generation, they're so much more aware of everything and there's so much more kind of camera friendly. [4:22] If you had to choose your dream team, who from Vanderpump Rules and who from Vanderpump [4:28] Villa would you pick? It's like your Avengers here. Oh, wow. That would be a hot mess. I've seen [4:34] them interact when we've had launch parties and things and that gets complicated really quickly. [4:40] I mean, I did have some great workers, you know, on Vanderpump Rules and people I'm very [4:45] close with still. I mean, look, Stassi ended up on Vanderpump Villa. So she kind of cross-pollinated [4:51] for sure. You know, it's not just about if you're shooting a reality television show, [4:55] it's about the energy and the fun they bring to the picture. They might not necessarily be the best [5:01] server. Hannah and Marciano are actually probably some of our best servers, but they make things [5:07] complicated. So that's a bit of a juxtaposition, a bit of a tough question. I'm glad that I was able [5:13] to ask you the tough question, Lisa Vanderpump. So great to have you.
