[0:00] We're back, everybody, and we just witnessed a profound moment, I think, in American history. [0:06] That's great. I feel great about the country. I don't know about you guys. [0:09] That one's going down in the history books. I mean, the single takeaway, I wish we could sit [0:15] here as people who like policy and who would like to get into the back and forth. And the profound [0:20] truth is we just witnessed, I mean, one of the saddest political moments, like maybe the political [0:26] death of Joe Biden and the absolute just shocking nature of his appearance, of his delivery. [0:35] Even whenever we were trying to parse the substance, Crystal, the four of us, we just, we couldn't [0:40] even get to what he was saying. Incomprehensible, the coughing. He coughed a record five times in [0:46] the first 30 seconds of the debate. And I mean, I'm just sitting here stunned. I don't know what [0:54] else I could say. I mean, two words, elder abuse. It was painful to watch, like from the jump. [1:00] It was painful. His voice, his face, his inability to maintain a single train of thought. It was [1:07] horrendous. And like, I mean, Trump is all over the place and said all kinds of things that I can't [1:13] stand and lies and doesn't answer the question, whatever. But like you said, Sagar, I can't even [1:19] get to like, oh, let's talk about their different stances on it. First of all, they don't really have [1:23] the different stances on immigration or Israel or any number of other issues. But, you know, [1:28] I would love to get into, oh, let's talk about Biden's antitrust. Let's talk about labor policy. [1:34] No one who watched this debate is going to get past the fact that he was so much worse than I think [1:43] we've been, you know, expecting. We know that Biden is not where he was. We expected some problems in [1:49] this debate. This was so far beyond what I anticipated. I don't know what to say. [1:55] Yeah, it felt like he spent way too much time at Camp David rehearsing, like practicing. [2:02] With the statistics. Did you notice that? [2:03] The statistics. [2:04] He had all these stats. [2:05] And he had a couple of what you could tell were supposed to be one-liners, but he only got through [2:10] like half the line. I think I saw him heading over our neighborhood around 430 or so. So like he [2:17] just kind of got into town. If that was. [2:20] Stepped off the plane and went straight there. Yeah. [2:22] And he was just worn out and his voice from the very beginning is, was awkward. So people are now [2:28] like in the Democratic Party are thinking. It's funny. In the beginning of this, I said, there are some, [2:35] you know, decent number of grassroots Democrats who are kind of hoping that he has such a poor [2:40] performance tonight that it just forces him off the ticket. [2:43] That they have to pull up. [2:44] Not because they don't like Biden, but because they want to beat Trump. [2:47] So do you think this was that performance? [2:49] It was that performance. [2:50] If it was anything, it's this. I mean, that is the worst. [2:53] If it's possible. [2:54] That is the worst moment of his life. [2:56] So we should note, Emily will be joining us shortly. She's doing something else. We didn't [3:00] kick Emily off the island. We love Emily. She wanted me to share with you. She also thought he [3:04] looked old and terrible. [3:06] Well, she said old as fuck. Let's be honest. [3:08] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Let's, let's actually repeat what she had to say. [3:11] Yeah. She said he's old as fuck and she'll share more of her thoughts when she returns. [3:16] Yeah. I mean, listen, going into this, I was like, it's going to be by like, [3:20] Right. [3:21] I thought anyone who thinks they're going to pull him, you're delusional. [3:24] It's going to be Joe Biden, like deal with it. We all need to live in the realm of reality. [3:28] This is when it's hitting home after this. I'm like, Hmm. Yeah. [3:32] Maybe. I'm very curious. I shouldn't say this because it will incentivize people to switch [3:40] over to the mainstream coverage. I am actually curious what they're saying on MSNBC and CNN, [3:45] because I know the cope. Somebody tweeted out like, Oh, I have two sources who say as a cold. [3:50] It's like, that doesn't come close to explaining. So the Biden campaign crystal has called every [3:56] mainstream reporter in the country and has gotten them to run the reporter. Two sources say [4:00] he has a cold. And as I said, presumably when you have a cold, you take Sudafed or something [4:05] with Sudafedra. We don't know what a cold looks like. It doesn't look like your brain melting in [4:10] real time. Okay. The stone face, the open mouth gape. I mean, anybody who has an elderly person [4:16] in their life has understood what we all just witnessed. It was horrifying almost from the [4:23] very beginning. And just to give people a taste too, as you said, crystal too, of what the mainstream [4:27] coverage was. Let's put F1 please up on the screen just to give people an idea of how such an [4:32] unmitigated disaster. This is from the AP, the AP, the most middle of the road mainstream. And this is [4:39] what they put out on their newswire to their entire subscriber service quote in the first half hour of the [4:44] debate. A raspy Biden delivers rambling answers while Trump counters with energy and falsehoods. [4:51] But even they have to say raspy Biden rambling answers. And they even have to acknowledge Trump [4:57] counters with energy. This is also where I have to eat my words. And the falsehoods, he does. Okay. [5:01] Yes. It was. All the way through. All right. And he's Trump. He's Trump. But I will say this too. [5:06] The rules unambiguously worked in the favor of Donald Trump. There's no question. I think that was one [5:11] of the top five performances of his life because he just seemed like relatively normal. He had a few [5:15] moments, you know, there's some stop the steal there at the end. People aren't going to like [5:19] that. Even on abortion, he was a little bit all over the place. But the whole point is we can't [5:24] sit here and parse because the average person, and I want everybody at home to think about this, [5:28] the average person in your life, your father, your sister, your cousin, the person who doesn't watch [5:32] anything, but they did watch this. What are they going to take away? It ain't anything to do [5:35] with late-term abortion. It is, oh my God, what is going on in front of us? Go ahead, Crystal. [5:42] So Kyle texted me an update from MSNBC. He says they're waving the towel. Nicole Wallace said [5:48] people will be talking about whether he should be in the race. [5:51] Wow. Wow. [5:52] The MSNBC folks are probably talking to some of the same people, types of people in Washington [5:57] that I'm talking to. And yes, they're absolutely, completely panicked. [6:02] People who have been involved in politics for decades, who two hours ago were saying, [6:08] put your big boy pants on. He's the nominee. [6:10] Stop wetting the bed. [6:12] Stop wetting the bed. All this stuff. There's no mechanism. [6:15] Some of them are still saying, look, these are the different paths. Some are saying, [6:20] something's got to give. This is insane. These are very sober, centrist-minded Washington creatures. [6:27] Some of them are saying, something's got to give. [6:29] From the control room, they're telling us that CNN has called his performance, quote, [6:34] dismal. Griffin saying, quote, CNN saying it's Joe. I mean, this is just, it is unambiguous. [6:40] And to a certain extent, look, not so much of a victory lap. Crystal, how many, and Ryan too, [6:45] how many recriminations have we all received over the last five years for pointing out- [6:50] We want our apologies. [6:50] I genuinely do want an apology. This was foisted upon the American people. [6:55] And people in the White House, you should be ashamed of yourself. Jake Sullivan and all the [6:59] other folks who see this stuff up close, we've been reporting it here day after day. G7 leaders, [7:05] he's gotten worse. We have the public moments. But to see this up close, 90 minutes with no filter, [7:11] it's insane. I mean, we're in 25th Amendment territory. Is this man alive? Like, what the fuck [7:18] is happening? [7:19] So I want to hear what the other, Washington. So you've got the one group that's- [7:23] One group is saying, yeah, like- [7:25] This is crazy. [7:26] This can't go on. It has to change. The other group is saying, no, there's no way to get him [7:31] off. But what we're going to do is we're going to focus on the House and Senate. Basically- [7:35] Just like give up? That's the idea? [7:37] Just give up. [7:37] Hey, yeah. [7:38] I thought this was the end of democracy. [7:40] That always works. [7:40] And make the argument for Biden that he has a very good staff and that you want Democrats [7:46] nominating the appointees. You want Democrats in control of these agencies. [7:52] All right. [7:52] And you're probably going to lose, but you can maybe win the House and Senate. [7:55] Okay. [7:55] And we went into this- [7:57] Wait, isn't there a third group? [7:58] No, that's basically it. [7:58] That's it. Okay. Okay, I got it. [8:01] There's none there. [8:01] There's no just delusional. And he was great. [8:03] No, there's none of that. [8:04] I thought he was very strong. There's none of that. [8:06] Absolutely zero of that. [8:07] And before this, the normal Democratic Senate candidate, like a tester or a Jackie Rosen or [8:14] somebody, was running about five to six points ahead of Biden already, which showed you that [8:20] there isn't- and Democrats are heartened by this in the sense that they're like, oh, look, [8:24] the public likes Democrats. [8:26] Right. [8:27] They just don't like Biden. [8:28] Yeah. [8:28] But it's like, well, but Biden is your nominee. [8:30] Right. [8:31] But that- so they already had a five-point gap before this. That could widen to something [8:37] historic. [8:37] You've never had a situation where the candidates are kind of pulling, I mean, the House and [8:46] Senate candidates are pulling the presidential ticket along. [8:47] Usually they talk about coattails. [8:49] Coattails. [8:49] Yeah. It's the opposite dynamic. Barack Obama brings along all these people, right? [8:55] No, it's incredible. I mean, tell me this, Ryan, from the people you're talking to in [9:02] Washington, like, what did they think of the state of his condition going into this? Because what I was [9:09] thinking about is, you know, your rank and file Democratic House member, Senate member, even, [9:14] staffer, they don't really have access to him. We get these reports, you know, Jamie Harris, [9:20] don't comment, oh, you should see him behind closed doors. He's a firecracker. But the reality is that, [9:26] based on the reporting, his circle has gotten smaller and smaller and smaller. So the number [9:32] of people who are even in a position to be aware that this is the reality now of what we're dealing [9:38] with is actually probably pretty small. So just as we're viewing this with shock, and again, [9:46] we were under no illusions about Biden's level of decline at this point. But even for us, we thought, [9:53] okay, he'll get the drug cocktail. He usually rises to the moment. He'll get something going. [9:57] There's not one moment I could point to this in this debate and be like, oh, he did a good job [10:00] there. Not one, right? So for many of them, it has to come as equally of an eye-opening moment, [10:09] if not more, because they were probably buying some of the delusions about the like, oh, [10:12] behind closed doors, they say he's great. And also they think it doesn't matter that much [10:16] because the administration is on autopilot. They don't deal directly with Biden. They have their [10:22] handler that they deal with in the administration. If they want something, they know who to call. [10:26] It's only Chuck Schumer, basically. The gears are turning in the way they're expecting them [10:30] to turn. Right. As long as the gears turn and he's hopped up enough for the State of the Union [10:35] in the debates, then they're like, all right, this is not ideal, but we'll go with it. But when you [10:39] can't even get hopped up for the debate. David Axelrod, Obama's former, what is it, [10:43] communications director, he says on CNN, I think there was a sense of shock how he came out at the [10:49] very beginning of the debate. Let's actually play. Let's play for people. This is F4, the beat [10:55] Medicare moment, because it was from the very first word. First of all, the voice is bad. [11:01] The look is bad. The walking on the stage is bad. Everything is slow. He's having trouble [11:06] whining. He is coughing. But this was the moment when we all looked at each other and were like- [11:11] If you want to roll the tape, you can actually go back and see that moment. All of us covered [11:15] our mouths with absolute shock. All right. So play F4, the beat Medicare moment for us. [11:21] Making sure that we're able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I've been able [11:27] to do with the COVID, excuse me, with dealing with everything we have to do with, look, [11:38] if we finally beat Medicare. Thank you, President Biden. President Trump? [11:45] Well, he's right. He did beat Medicare. He beat it to death, and he's destroying Medicare. [11:49] We fully beat Medicare. That was it. [11:50] After struggling around for what he was even talking about. I mean, and Medicare had nothing [11:57] to do with what the original question was. It just, and there were many other moments that were [12:03] similarly discomforting. I want to say, too, about Trump, one of the strengths that he had in this [12:08] debate was he only a couple of times said something along the lines of, he doesn't even know what he's [12:14] saying, challenged him to the cognitive test. You can see there, though, at one point, Biden was [12:19] delivering an equivalently incoherent old man answer, and Trump is just smirking and sitting [12:25] there, but he didn't jump on the bait. So this is where there was a, there was like a level of [12:30] discipline I haven't seen from Trump in a long time, and the rules helped him. He didn't jump in [12:34] there, allowed Biden to hang himself. And I think I even said that. I was like, hey, I went back and [12:39] found a tweet there a couple of days ago, and I was like, hey, I don't think that these rules are [12:42] going to have Trump. And I go, but the alternative is that it will force Trump to sit back. And if [12:47] Biden has an old man moment, the focus will 100% be on him. And I mean, he, he didn't just have an [12:53] old man moment. It was 90 minutes of just weird old man stuff already. Yeah, here we go. CNN's [12:58] David Axelrod, there are going to be discussions on if he should continue. Van Jones, according to Mac, [13:04] producer Mac, there's a lot of time until the convention if Biden will allow us to go. [13:08] I mean, we're in full on free down mode. We were talking, and actually, Ryan, [13:12] this is the question I have for you. I said, only Obama can bring this to an end. But do you think [13:16] even Obama could bring this to an end? I think he could. And said, it's over, Joe. It's over. [13:22] And we need to put responsibility on people who have it. People like Chuck Schumer and Hakeem [13:28] Jeffries, if they said something publicly right now, it would change the equation. It would have [13:34] opened it up to a real question. And there is nothing stopping Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries from [13:40] going out and saying something. They're not even Obama, but they're significant players. [13:44] What that would do is that would signal to their troops that they're allowed to talk about it [13:48] openly as well. So these are grown adults who have agency, who have an opportunity to [13:54] do something for their party right now that they know they ought to do. And they're probably not [14:01] going to do it. They're probably going to say, well, he's the nominee. [14:04] And we also should go back because there was, after the midterms, there was a whole lot of [14:11] circling the wagons to make sure that a Gavin Newsom or whoever didn't jump in because the [14:17] midterm performance was better than expected. That was successful. Then you get to the primaries [14:26] and, you know, first of all, there's just complete, complete blackout of all the candidates [14:32] who did challenge him. And then in certain states, they just literally did not hold primaries, [14:38] right? There were no debates. Florida, North Carolina, there were a number of places where [14:42] they're just like, we're just literally not going to do a primary. And so, yeah, anyone who could [14:49] have at any moment who had the knowledge of this is what we're dealing with could have spoken up, [14:55] could have pushed in another direction, could have shed some light and reality here and instead chose [15:00] to go in a different direction and pretend and leak these anecdotes, oh no, I have trouble keeping up [15:06] with him. He's so energetic. How many times did KJP say that from the White House book? [15:11] Oh yeah. Yeah, absolutely. How many times? Like, I mean, these people are shameless, liars. If you've [15:18] had any exposure to him and you're out there doing the, oh, he's the real, he's the real spitfire [15:24] behind the scenes. You guys wouldn't believe him and I can't keep up with him, blah, blah, blah. Like, [15:28] no one believed you. And certainly now it is so clear. Not only are you lying, but by your own [15:35] definition, you believe this is an existential election. You believe democracy is on the ballot [15:42] and women's rights are on the ballot. And you are risking all of that for your career. I mean, [15:49] because they're afraid to speak out. They're afraid there'll be persona non grata in the Democratic [15:53] Party. And so they all stay silent. They all closed ranks. And this is what they and we in [15:58] the whole country get. Also the level of outrage we should all have now for them not allowing that [16:02] primary to happen. You know, I mean, that was one of the most undemocratic and in retrospect to with [16:08] Biden, I said this to all of you privately. I mean, he will go down as one of the most selfish men in [16:12] American history. I mean, just complete the arrogance, the selfishness. That is true. Although at this [16:17] point, I really, I feel more about it the way I became to feel about Dianne Feinstein, which is [16:22] like, it's the people around her. No, you're right. Because she got to a point where she was so out of [16:27] it. She didn't know that she was out of it. But he's not at that level. He's still there. [16:32] Maybe. I mean, I mean, I think he is there enough where I don't know. And this is one of those where, [16:39] again, I think everyone can tell, like, we're all like in a state of shock. The big question is, [16:43] and this is the issue, I believe, he is such an arrogant man. And I've always said this, [16:48] and the press corps friends always tell me this. People have said this about him. When he puts [16:51] those aviators on, he believes he's 30 years younger. And knowing him too, he's always the, [16:57] I'll show him president. The, I'll show him guy. And he is a toxic boss who does not want to hear [17:06] any dissent and has surrounded himself with yes men who will bolster him on whatever it is. [17:13] And there was just reporting about how everybody's afraid to say anything at all critical because [17:20] they think they'll be excised from the inner circle. And probably, you know, and for good [17:24] reason, they believe that. He's had this same basic group around him for 40 years. [17:31] Except people like Ted Coffin who are like, I'm too old. I can't do this anymore. [17:34] Right. Yeah. The guy who's significantly younger than him. [17:37] His peer who's 10 years younger than him. [17:39] Exactly. That's exactly right. And so I think that he, I don't know that he realizes [17:45] his decline. I'm not sure that he sees it. I don't think that he has that awareness. [17:50] Well, okay. This is my big question. I can't wait to see what Joe Scarborough has to say [17:55] tomorrow morning. Because, and that's, let's return to that. The media coverage of this. [18:00] Wall Street Journal puts out that piece behind closed doors. Biden is old and a mess behind [18:05] the scenes. But you still had all those on the record quotes, like you said, Ryan, of, [18:11] and senators, people like, oh, I can't keep up with him. And the level of freak out from [18:14] the White House. And there's, Crystal, two weeks ago, they were calling us cheap fakes for [18:18] playing that video of him at the G7. That's right. [18:20] That was, what, two weeks ago here? They're litigating whether we're, you know, uncomfortably [18:25] clipping moments. Yeah, show me. That whole thing was a vindication of so much of the coverage. I [18:30] mean, people can probably tell I'm angry because it's just, at a certain point too, I also feel [18:34] as you do, the media, the people around him, it has been an outrageous conspiracy to basically [18:39] cover this up and to be in compliance. At every moment, the evidence was there, canceling the major [18:44] interviews, less press conferences than anybody in history, not allowing all of us to see how [18:50] cooked our freaking president is. And then drag, canceling the primary, dragging his ass up until [18:57] election. I see here some reporting, they're like, look, the only way that Biden is going to be able [19:02] to come out is if Schumer, Pelosi, Bill Clinton, and Obama convince him to stand down. I don't have [19:07] the confidence that they have, you know, that they have, that they would do that at this point. [19:12] I think they're just, I don't know. And combined with this arrogance to actually convince him. [19:17] Chiron on CNN sources, aggressive panic for Dems after Biden's performance tonight. And [19:24] Trump didn't have to do anything in this debate, but he played his hands properly. [19:31] Very well. He was restrained. The rules definitely helped him because if he was too aggressive, [19:37] it would have just felt mean. It would have just felt mean because you are beating up [19:42] on this confused old man who can't even finish the sentence. [19:45] And I think not having the crowd help Trump and hurt Biden. Because I think Biden, [19:50] if he'd have had the crowd, like his energy maybe goes up a little bit closer to a normal-ish area. [19:56] That's a good point. [19:57] Yeah. [19:57] That's a good point. [19:58] Whereas Trump is already a little hopped. [20:00] Yeah. [20:00] But like, he gets the crowd and he's up here. [20:03] That's true. That's a good point. [20:04] So with no crowd at all, Trump and knowing his mic's going to get cut off, Trump just has to stand there [20:11] and like, you know, spew nonsense for two minutes and then let the guy fall all over himself. [20:16] So what do you think about Sagar's hypothetical here of is Obama, is Bill Clinton, is Nancy Pelosi? [20:25] Like, are they just going to bury their head in the sand and just kind of throw in the towel and say, [20:32] well, I guess we're just going to lose the presidency and maybe we'll win the House and maybe the Senate. [20:37] Is that, do you think that's most likely it's going to happen? [20:40] Well, we will get an answer to the question of whether they actually believe that democracy is on the ballot. [20:45] Because you had this split screen throughout the non-primary with Biden saying democracy is on the ballot [20:54] and all of these Democratic candidates like Newsom and Whitmer planning for 2028. [20:59] It's like, wait a minute. [21:01] There is no 2028. [21:02] Right. [21:03] If 2024 doesn't go your way. [21:04] True. [21:05] According to you. [21:05] According to you. [21:06] Yes. [21:07] And so because all of these different factions within the party have their own interests in 2028, [21:14] that factors into whether they actually weigh in on 2024. [21:19] A bunch of them believe that an open primary with Trump as a second term president leaving [21:26] is an easier road for somebody like a Newsom to become president. [21:31] Yeah. [21:31] But that assumes that there will be a 2028 presidential election, [21:35] even though Trump won the presidency. [21:37] So it's like, I guess you don't necessarily really believe that. [21:40] What if he crushes 2020 up until then? [21:43] And he's got, he's like a Bill Clinton and he has a 60% approval rating and his vice president wins. [21:47] Could be. [21:47] You know what I mean? [21:48] That's exactly. [21:49] Yeah. [21:49] Doug Burgum becomes king of the United States. [21:52] Oh my God. [21:53] Apparently, Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC says, well, FDR was a good president and he couldn't even walk. [21:59] Apparently. [22:00] That's where we're at. [22:01] That's where we're at now. [22:02] That's the level of FDR who's drooling out of his mouth and couldn't walk. [22:05] And look, he was a great president. [22:07] Also, Joe Biden is no FDR. [22:09] Okay, people, let's just. [22:10] FDR also proved himself for 12 years up until that point, before he was that old. [22:14] We're not asking Joe Biden to walk. [22:16] Like if Joe Biden were in a wheelchair. [22:18] No problem. [22:19] Fine. [22:19] Yeah. [22:20] And giving speeches like FDR up until the very end. [22:23] Right. [22:24] I think it would have been okay. [22:25] Fine. [22:25] Absolutely. [22:26] I just don't know what the hell they're going to do at this point. [22:29] And in a certain, look, Biden has the LBJ choice. [22:31] Biden has the choice. [22:33] RFK is in the race, quite literally. [22:35] You know, at this time, he could see the writing on the wall and he's like an LBJ, smart man, [22:41] the most ambitious, probably more ambitious than Joe Biden, looks himself in the mirror with his visor, [22:46] says, that's it, boys. [22:48] I'm not going to win. [22:49] And he gives a speech and he says, I will not seek nor accept the nomination. [22:53] Joe Biden has that choice. [22:54] He's 68 days out. [22:56] And this perhaps could have been the greatest political gift to him of all time. [22:59] And in that, they can just say, he could go down in history for the IRA, the climate [23:03] investments. [23:03] And just be like, I'm good. [23:05] But this is where I think his arrogance and also the rigged nature of the people around [23:11] him, the bubble that he has built, and also believing his own bullshit now for so many [23:16] years is going to come back to bite him. [23:18] And he will arrogantly walk himself now to what, I mean, at this point, guys, what can [23:22] we even think of what the electoral map is going to look like? [23:25] Every single swing state is going to like this. [23:28] RFK Jr. is going to be getting a lot. [23:30] Yeah. [23:30] RFK Jr. is going to get like 25%. [23:32] The real debate, you know, he was basically debating with the other folks, was streaming [23:36] consistently at 2 million. [23:38] Like there were millions. [23:41] Watching RFK. [23:42] Watching RFK. [23:42] Yeah. [23:44] Because I bet a bunch of people were like, watch those two and were like, whoa. [23:47] Right. [23:48] Well, I can show the predicted for the betting markets. [23:50] So F6, please. [23:51] I was keeping track of this. [23:53] I mean, this is, you know, in terms of betting markets. [23:55] Take a look at this. [23:56] This was halfway through the debate. [23:58] Joe Biden, I think, you know, 30 minutes or so into the debate, plunged, you know, to [24:02] only 69% real in terms of the betting markets by 17% in terms of the odds that he would even [24:09] be the presidential nominee. [24:10] I'd have to check, but I guarantee you that's going to be less. [24:14] I mean, Gavin Newsom is, by the way, in the spin room right now. [24:17] I, to be a fly on the wall. [24:19] Oh my God. [24:20] How can Gavin? [24:21] What do you say? [24:21] What do you say? [24:23] All you do, you don't talk about Biden. [24:25] You just talk about Trump's lies. [24:26] I mean, election denial. [24:28] I mean, that's the only move. [24:29] That's your only move at this point. [24:31] But that case that you're making, Sagar, that's the case that someone needs to make to [24:35] Joe Biden of like, your legacy, if you graciously step aside. [24:42] If you make good on your pledge to be the bridge to the next generation, and yes, we [24:47] can talk about the CHIPS Act. [24:48] We can talk about your infrastructure. [24:51] We can talk about, hey, you, you know, did the, what we needed to do with the economy [24:54] and COVID can talk about labor. [24:57] We can talk about antitrust. [24:58] You know, if you withdraw from Afghanistan, genocide, we'll put that aside for the moment. [25:03] But if you're making this case, maybe don't make that part of it. [25:07] But, you know, you step aside now. [25:09] You look like a great leader. [25:10] You look selfless. [25:12] You pass the baton. [25:14] And one thing that Estet Herndon over at the New York Times has been pointing out is like, [25:19] Joe Biden also kind of, not kind of, he really misled the American public too. [25:24] Absolutely. [25:24] When he was running in 2020, because he didn't come out and say directly, I promise I will [25:30] only be a one-term president. [25:31] Very close. [25:31] But he came very close to that. [25:33] And there were, there was a real assumption that was made of like, okay, this dude is old [25:38] and we're worried about that. [25:40] But he's going to be there for four years. [25:42] He's going to set the ship right. [25:43] It's going to be normal again. [25:44] He's going to get Trump out of there. [25:45] And then we'll move on to what's next. [25:47] And, you know, immediately once he gets elected, of course, he's never going to let go of the [25:51] brass ring. [25:51] And here we are. [25:53] But that is the case that needs to be made to him is like, if you stay and you hand the [25:58] country back to Donald Trump, that is a totally different legacy than if you graciously step [26:05] aside. [26:05] Now, I mentioned the genocide part. [26:07] I think that that is probably a fantasy that his legacy would be, you know, a glorious one, [26:12] no matter what he does at this point. [26:14] But that is the case that needs to be made to him by Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Bill [26:18] Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, like whoever. [26:21] But I think you're right, Ryan. [26:23] I think everyone's self-interest in the Democratic Party is such that it renders them just like [26:28] cowardly careers who really don't give a shit about the country. [26:31] They don't believe what they say and they don't give a shit about the country. [26:35] That's exactly right, because your point is so such an important one that, you know, [26:40] we're thinking about 2024. [26:42] They're already lining up behind their horses for 2028. [26:45] They're already planning on like, oh, I'm going to be a Whitmer person. [26:48] And here's how I'm going to parlay that into my agency position. [26:50] I'm going to be lined up for VP. [26:51] I'm going to run for that Senate seat that opens up. [26:54] I'm going to run for that governor's mansion that's going to open up when Whitmer makes the [26:58] jump or whatever. [26:59] That's what their plans are. [27:02] And so it's no one has planned their political future around Joe Biden being out of this race. [27:08] So no one outside of the entire American public who has an interest in having decent presidential [27:14] candidates. [27:14] But these people who actually have influence, none of them has an interest. [27:18] And the way they think, yeah, let's say you're a Whitmer person. [27:21] Yeah. [27:22] And you think Whitmer's got a good shot in 28. [27:24] Uh, now you're like, oh, what if Whitmer is not the 24 one? [27:28] What if Newsom, like, it just gets the nod. [27:31] That's right. [27:31] Yeah. [27:32] We need that. [27:33] You go to the Pritzker people and you're like, we don't want, neither of us want Newsom [27:37] to get it. [27:37] Let's all make sure that Biden just, you know, goes down. [27:40] Holds on to it. [27:40] That's right. [27:41] We just need a democratic elites to act like elites and just come in and end this shit [27:46] for all of us. [27:47] But they don't do that. [27:48] And you're right. [27:49] There's no sense of social fabric. [27:50] In the 1960s, they actually did. [27:51] They came together, the DNC and all of them, they're like, Lyndon, you're not going to [27:55] win, dude. [27:55] It's over. [27:56] And he said, okay. [27:57] He believed them. [27:58] And he was even a guy who was way more powerful than Biden. [28:01] I mean, for like, like you said, Ryan, Chuck Schumer, what are we doing here, dude? [28:05] Yeah. [28:05] You're 73. [28:06] You know, you, you, you need to know. [28:09] But what is the track record that we have? [28:11] Schumer lies about Dianne Feinstein's age up until the day she dies. [28:16] Quite literally. [28:17] Nancy Pelosi. [28:18] Pelosi had her freaking daughter. [28:20] Yes. [28:21] As her, like, nursemaid. [28:23] As her handmaiden. [28:24] And basically just kept the thing over her mouth. [28:27] And it was like, yeah, just don't, don't talk. [28:28] She's fine. [28:29] Don't worry about it. [28:30] Remember whenever. [28:31] And you're sexist. [28:32] Yeah. [28:32] By the way, you're sexist. [28:33] They turned it into a feminist thing. [28:35] And that's the thing with Biden here now. [28:37] They, they made us, they made us, called us ableist. [28:42] Say that we were making fun of a man. [28:44] Ages, ableist. [28:45] Ageism. [28:45] The ableism. [28:47] I mean, the level of rage that I feel right now for these people. [28:51] Just because it's just been years now of just sitting here and we just sit here and take it and take it and take it. [28:55] And now for the dishonesty of the Nicole Wallace's of the world now floating, replacing Joe Biden or David Axelrod or any of these other people. [29:04] And for his own staff who viciously attacked anybody who tweeted out or accurately portrayed his complete inabilities. [29:15] And they're, they're either silence or apparently there's some Democratic people who are crying on the phones right now to reporters. [29:22] I mean, they should be. [29:23] Like, like, like, if you really believe that this is such an important election, that this is on you. [29:28] This is on the people around who, who supported him and or who propped him up. [29:32] Right. [29:33] There was a, there was a time where it could have mattered if people came forward. [29:36] Yes. [29:36] Now, we might have, we might have broken in to, we, oh, we got some, we got Emily. [29:41] Just keep talking. [29:43] She'll, she'll come in. [29:43] Yeah, go ahead. [29:44] Yeah, we, we, we might have a moment that where it broke back open again and people with courage have a chance to actually, you know, act on that. [29:51] But there, the time was before. [29:53] And like you said, there was a, there's a cost to speaking out and, and people would rather kind of live, you know, would like rather live richly among the ruins of a, of a wrecked party than see their party win because they're going to be fine either way. [30:09] A wrecked party and a dying empire. [30:11] Yeah. [30:12] The level of. [30:14] Do you think, because the one person who has somewhat of an interest in Joe preserving a shred of his dignity is actually Barack Obama because he's looking not great right now having brought this man. [30:26] Obama, Hillary and Biden. [30:28] What the fuck, dude? [30:30] Right, true. [30:31] Yeah, wait, what? [30:32] So he's, he's got to be thinking like, I'm not looking great right now with like having, you know, foisted Joe on the public and backed him up and made the, because Barack Obama made this happen for him in the 2020 primary. [30:43] Let's not forget. [30:45] So does he have the juice? [30:47] Does he have the juice to make something happen here in the Democratic Party? [30:52] He certainly has, he has the juice. [30:54] Yeah. [30:54] There is a, such a thing as force and power. [30:57] Like, I think he could be forced out with enough pressure. [31:01] You know, we, we showed those word clouds before, by the way, Emily is here. [31:07] Emily. [31:07] Hi, Emily. [31:08] It's magic. [31:08] I just reappeared in the chair. [31:10] Wow. [31:10] Fantastic. [31:10] We've been, we've just been talking about, he's manifested me. [31:16] Everything seems okay. [31:17] I feel really good about the state of the country. [31:19] Yeah. [31:20] Yeah. [31:20] Um, but, uh, with Obama, I mean, it does seem like if he really decided to forcefully intervene, you could, that would be like the one thing that could maybe shift things here. [31:33] But the other thing I'm questioning too is right now, everyone is having to live in the reality of like, holy shit, that was bad. [31:40] How long before the spin takes hold and it's like, Trump was lying and he said this bad thing and everyone's just not focused on the substance and Biden had a cold and seriously, how long before they can reconstruct all of the like artifice and Potemkin village of Biden competence that they had carefully constructed prior to this moment? [32:01] I think they're making that decision right now. [32:03] I think literally right now, they're scrambling to try to figure out if they can put the cap back into the bag. [32:08] Because I think if Joe Biden says, no way, I'm in it, Jack, and I'm not going anywhere, Jack, then everyone will. [32:16] The idea that. [32:17] Yeah. [32:17] You would, uh. [32:18] The idea. [32:19] Uh. [32:20] Jack. [32:20] Uh. [32:20] I was just. [32:21] Yeah. [32:22] I hadn't, I had forgotten about this, but, uh, Megan Kelly just showed this clip of mourning Joe saying, it was Mika saying, Marjorie Taylor Greene must have, might have, might as well just written this report on Biden. [32:33] It's health. [32:34] Should they say that's just a few weeks ago? [32:35] I mean, it's. [32:35] The Wall Street Journal thing. [32:36] Yeah. [32:36] I mean, it's insane. [32:37] Right. [32:37] It's insane. [32:38] And so the only reason that everyone is now expressing surprise is because they feel like they can't get away with their lie anymore. [32:44] Yeah. [32:44] Because everybody saw it crumble on national television. [32:46] But, but we all saw Joe Biden after the, her report come out and say, I have no memory problems at a press conference in which he had several lapses in his memory. [32:55] It was like clearly not okay. [32:57] We've known he's not okay. [32:58] So if he tells his inner circle, whose friends are all scattered across corporate media, that he's going to do it, they'll find a way to make it work. [33:06] Well, that experience. [33:07] I don't know if that's true. [33:09] That experience with that report. [33:10] They'll try. [33:10] Is what made me question. [33:11] Because after that report came out, where he said basically like, I can't charge this guy. [33:17] The jury's going to be like, he's just a confused old man. [33:20] How can, you know, you can't, you can't put this man in front of a jury and he can't even remember when he was vice president. [33:26] That was part of it. [33:27] Couldn't remember when his own son died. [33:29] Right. [33:30] That was the type of memory lapses that he was reportedly having. [33:33] And there was a moment in the media when there were a bunch of pieces written. [33:38] People were like, oh my goodness, this is really bad. [33:41] Like Democrats need to do something about this. [33:43] And then very quickly, the ranks closed again. [33:47] And, you know, you had people out there saying things like that. [33:51] And I don't think they can get away with it this time, though. [33:53] That's my inclination is they can't. [33:55] I don't know. [33:56] I don't know. [33:57] It's one thing to that point. [33:59] I mean, it is one thing to see it in a report. [34:02] Yeah. [34:03] It's another thing to watch it yourself. [34:06] Yeah. [34:06] Right. [34:07] And that does make it quite under that. [34:09] And especially coming on the heels of the G7 and the clips that came out of that, et cetera. [34:12] I think there's a foreign, the foreign against case is this, is that first time, remember, there was Andrea Mitchell. [34:18] When Biden was losing in 2019 and early 2020, Andrea Mitchell has that segment and be like, we need to ask serious questions about Joe Biden's age. [34:26] And then six months later, she's like, it was a stutter the whole time. [34:29] I never said that before. [34:30] The reason why I think this one is substantively different is that there's actually very crazy high stakes now at this point where the national public is so much more coalesced around he is old that if they try to do a similar like walk back that they did before, that they would lose even more credibility. [34:49] Look, even these shameless liars, we have to believe, have a line. [34:53] But I also wouldn't put it past them. [34:55] I wouldn't put it past Andrea Mitchell and all of them to roll out the stutter. [34:59] So I just don't know. [35:00] Or the cold. [35:00] Because we've got a CNN clip to give us all a flavor. [35:04] We haven't watched this so we can react to it live. [35:06] Let's take a listen to how things are going over there. [35:08] It involves party strategists. [35:10] It involves elected officials. [35:11] It involves fundraisers. [35:13] And they're having conversations about the president's performance, which they think was dismal, which they think will hurt other people down the party in the ticket. [35:20] And they're having conversations about what they should do about it. [35:23] Some of those conversations include, should we go to the White House and ask the president to step aside? [35:27] Others are other of the conversations are about should prominent Democrats go public with that call because they feel this debate was so terrible. [35:36] That's the first 10 minutes afterwards. [35:37] Keep that in mind. [35:38] That is interesting because he raises a good point. [35:43] Because, again, we're not thinking about people doing the right thing for the country or whatever. [35:46] That's not what we're talking about. [35:47] We're talking about self-interested political actors who have their own careers and paychecks in mind. [35:54] He's raising what I think is true, which is that, yes, Democrats are going to outperform Biden. [36:01] But if you have that week of a candidate at the top of the ticket, it is going to drag down everybody's performance across the board. [36:08] So if you're a Rosen in Nevada, if you're a tester in Montana, you're trying to get reelected, [36:15] if you're any number of congressional candidates around the country, suddenly you're going, this guy's a, this is a real problem for me personally. [36:22] You could also, they could also rationalize it, though, by saying, OK, if it looks this obvious that Trump is going to win, [36:29] then somebody like a tester or Rosen actually get benefits because from the voters who want to check on Trump, [36:36] because they think Trump, they kind of like Trump, they prefer Trump to Biden, but they don't want him to have full control of Congress either. [36:45] So you can see it. [36:45] The divided Congress. [36:46] Yeah, the old divided Congress. [36:47] There is actually good evidence for that. [36:49] Ticket splitting is so rare. [36:51] I mean, there is some ticket splitting. [36:53] But if you have a candidate at the top of the ticket who is not much of a drag, it's going to be a problem. [36:58] There is probably, it's probably more of a drag. [37:00] They're going to have to defend him. [37:01] Then it is a benefit. [37:02] They will have to defend him every day at every state fair. [37:05] They'll have to defend him. [37:06] That's right. [37:07] We have apparently we have a Joanne Reid clip. [37:10] We've got to check in with Joy over at MSNBC from our producers. [37:15] Let's go ahead and take a listen, guys. [37:16] I, too, was on the phone throughout much of the debate with Obama world people, with Democrats, with people who are political operatives, with campaign operatives. [37:28] My phone really never stopped buzzing throughout. [37:31] And the universal reaction was somewhere approaching panic. [37:38] The people who were texting with me were very concerned about President Biden seeming extremely feeble, seeming extremely weak. [37:49] Extremely feeble. [37:50] It's bullshit that they're surprised by this. [37:53] Yeah, and how good is Maddox? [37:54] But you know what, Emily? [37:56] I mean, I am surprised by how bad it was. [37:59] That's true. [37:59] That's true. [38:00] Not to that. [38:01] But we don't spend time. [38:02] And nobody gasped the American public. [38:04] Yeah. [38:04] We're not in Obama world, and we don't spend time with the people who spend time with him every day. [38:09] Right. [38:10] Yeah, but I mean, the level, because here's the thing. [38:12] I thought, listen, we saw the State of the Union. [38:15] He was okay. [38:16] Yeah, he was fine. [38:17] But he was reading off a teleprompter. [38:18] Right. [38:19] And he had the audience. [38:20] And he had an audience. [38:21] When he has to gather the words for himself, it's bad. [38:26] And it was worse. [38:27] It was, I had low expectations. [38:29] My expectations were on the floor. [38:31] I thought he would at least have some moments on abortion or on January 6th or something that they could take and run with. [38:42] And this was strong. [38:43] There's not one moment. [38:44] Because when we were, you know, we were picking clips of like, all right, how do we want to represent this debate? [38:48] And I had in my mind like, oh, well, you know, we're going to show all the bad ones. [38:51] If he has a good one, like, we should show them. [38:54] Yeah. [38:54] What am I going to show? [38:55] There's nothing to show. [38:56] Nothing. [38:56] Zero. [38:57] Zero. [38:57] And his handicap? [38:59] There's plenty of things Trump said that. [39:00] Morals of an alley cat. [39:01] Yeah, that's good. [39:02] That was funny. [39:03] Oh, yeah, yeah. [39:03] Morals of an alley cat. [39:05] Which also sounds like something that a 112-year-old would say. [39:08] It's like in a fedora. [39:10] Yeah, that guy's got the morals of an alley cat. [39:12] Are you in the production of Annie? [39:14] Like, what are you talking about? [39:16] He's got the morals of an alley cat. [39:17] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [39:19] It's like, what? [39:22] All the chimney sweeps know. [39:23] It's not like, okay, Trump looks like a connoisseur out there. [39:28] He did. [39:28] In comparison. [39:29] But imagine it's Gavin Newsom up there on the station. [39:32] Gavin Newsom could have picked Trump apart in that there was plenty to work with there [39:36] on abortion, on stop the steal, on all kinds of things, right? [39:41] That Trump is just making up shit as he goes along. [39:44] But he at least seemed like he will survive another four years, you know? [39:49] And so in contrast, he looked absolutely, you know, incredible. [39:54] And you didn't see any of that pushback. [39:57] Any of the attempted pushback was so incoherent, you didn't even know what point Biden was trying [40:02] to make in response to it. [40:04] So, yeah, I mean, the fact that you have CNN with their sources. [40:10] Van Jones. [40:11] Nick Kristof. [40:13] Axelrod. [40:14] Joy Reid. [40:14] Axelrod, Joy Reid, Nicole Wallace. [40:17] I mean, Casey Hunt. [40:19] Yeah, Casey Hunt over who, you know, cut off the, who cut off the Trump. [40:24] Although I do want to say the CNN moderators were pretty good. [40:26] They did a good, they were pretty good. [40:27] But you know why I think, the reason why I think they were quote unquote good is they [40:30] didn't really have to moderate. [40:31] They didn't have to do anything. [40:32] They just had to read the questions. [40:33] Yeah. [40:33] And how many other times do they're like, Mr. Biden, you have 88 seconds left. [40:38] And he's like. [40:38] After the, after the Medicare thing. [40:40] It was horrible. [40:40] And they're like, you have 37 seconds left, Mr. President Biden. [40:45] And he just, it's like the complete blank stare, the open mouth. [40:49] There's a New York Times headline on your screen right now that's insane. [40:51] Yeah, look, I was just checking for it. [40:52] Facing Trump's misleading attacks, Biden appears shaky at times. [40:55] Yeah. [40:55] Or it's just about captures it. [40:57] Top. [40:57] Biden struggles as Trump blusters in a contentious. [40:59] But it was, it was already. [41:01] There's no both siding this. [41:03] It's a disaster. [41:05] It was criminal for them not to have RFK Jr. on from the beginning. [41:09] Yeah. [41:09] Right. [41:09] But after the debate, thinking about that decision, like it, it changed, changed history [41:15] in a way. [41:15] Because if, if RFK Jr. is able to be on there. [41:18] Right. [41:18] Like you could imagine a huge number of people being like, you know what? [41:22] Fine. [41:24] I can't do either of these people. [41:25] I'm, I'm, I'm with RFK. [41:26] And that's a good point. [41:27] And if he gets into the thirties, into the twenties or thirties, then it's game off. [41:31] Then he replaces Biden almost. [41:33] And imagine in the swing states. [41:34] Or Democrats then start getting behind him being like, look. [41:38] At least he's on the goddamn ballot. [41:40] Yeah. [41:40] Whatever. [41:41] But you know what? [41:41] At least you're not Trump. [41:43] Yeah. [41:43] He was with us on the environment. [41:45] At least you're not, at least you're not debating your handicap. [41:49] Like both of them were. [41:50] So zero chance Biden has a sixth handicap. [41:53] And no way Trump won those two tournaments cleanly. [41:56] Wait, Crystal, can you ask Kyle? [41:58] I'm a new golfer. [41:58] Can you ask Kyle whether he believes that Biden has a sixth handicap? [42:02] Oh, I already, oh. [42:02] Okay. [42:02] I don't have to ask Kyle, but I did talk to Kyle about this. [42:04] Oh, okay. [42:05] But he was like, no fucking thing. [42:07] So the one cogent thought Biden was able to get through was actually a false statistic. [42:13] So we've consulted an expert. [42:14] This is an official breaking points fact check, Crystal. [42:16] You've heard from Kyle Kulinski. [42:18] Kyle's actually good at golf. [42:19] Kyle's legit at golf. [42:20] I am a new golfer. [42:22] And the chance of Biden's, no way Biden carries his own clubs for 18 holes either. [42:26] Like, oh, yeah, that's right, what it's like, yeah, you're, I don't want him driving a golf [42:31] course. [42:31] Yeah, no, for real. [42:32] Don't get behind him. [42:33] To Trump's credit, he wouldn't, Trump didn't even pretend that he would carry his clubs. [42:37] Yeah, no, no, he didn't. [42:39] I trust the drunk guys at the golf course more than I trust Biden. [42:41] He doesn't even drink. [42:42] I'd be like, don't get behind the wall. [42:44] So Kyle's official response, just so we can be technically accurate here was. [42:48] We sent him a swing here. [42:49] Yeah, I sent him Biden's swing. [42:50] Oh, okay. [42:51] Which Ryan had provided with the group as background. [42:55] And he said, six handicap and then four laughing emojis. [43:01] Yeah, we need to get like Tiger Woods or somebody on here. [43:04] Look, my big, big question. [43:07] Ryan, actually, you'll know this. [43:08] When does Congress come back into session? [43:10] When are these guys going to be back into town? [43:11] They should be back on like on the 9th after the 4th of July. [43:15] There we go, guys. [43:15] So July 9th, when the hordes of the reporters swarm onto Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, [43:23] Hakeem Jeffries, and all of those people walking down the hallways with every reporter in the country [43:29] shoving their phone in their face. [43:31] What are they going to say? [43:33] That's the big question. [43:34] That's something else I want to know tonight and control them. [43:37] If you have one of these clips, I'd love to see it too. [43:39] But normally in these post-debate specials, of course, you've got a whole laundry list of Democrats, [43:47] members of Congress, whoever, who want to come on and talk about how great, you know, [43:51] Joe Biden just did. [43:52] I wonder if they've got anyone who is willing to come on and say that right now. [43:58] Kate Bedingfield, you read the- [43:59] We have a Van Jones- [44:01] Oh, yeah. [44:02] Wait, let's talk about the Kate Bedingfield thing before we get to that. [44:04] She's a former comms director. [44:05] Yeah. [44:06] Literally at the White House. [44:07] Yeah. [44:07] I think she only left a couple of months ago. [44:09] So this is- [44:10] Let me go ahead and pull it up. [44:11] And she was there, you know, the whole 2020 campaign. [44:14] She was one of the people who, even when he was really down and out, she was, you know, [44:18] there by his side and really believing in this guy. [44:21] And what does she say now? [44:23] Quote, it was a really disappointing debate performance for Joe Biden. [44:26] And I don't think there's any other way to slice it. [44:29] His biggest issue was to prove to the American people he had the energy, the stamina, and [44:33] he didn't do that. [44:34] I mean, that is as cut and dry as it gets. [44:37] Yeah. [44:37] Because this is the- [44:37] And that's as nice as you can possibly. [44:39] This is the speed doctor. [44:40] Yeah, that's a nice way to put it. [44:41] This is the lady who was paid to lie to the American public on Joe Biden's behalf. [44:44] The type of person who would ordinarily be on CNN- [44:47] Exactly right. [44:47] Talking about what a masterful job- [44:49] She might even have a CNN contributor show. [44:50] She just did. [44:51] No, yeah, I think you're right. [44:52] She does have a CNN contributor show. [44:54] You know who else I want to hear from? [44:55] Jen Psaki. [44:56] I think her show's on Saturday. [44:57] Oh, yeah. [44:58] Let's hear it, lady. [44:59] You know, how many times you take that damn podium and you tell us about how strong and [45:03] virile and forceful he is. [45:04] What did you know and when did you know? [45:05] I, for real, we are in the truth and reconciliation phase. [45:08] Yes. [45:09] It's like, at what point are we should drag- [45:11] I mean, this- [45:12] Trump may try and have this happen, but in a just world, they should be dragged- [45:15] At what point did you first notice that the president was senile? [45:18] At what point did you first notice he had dementia? [45:20] Lloyd Austin, what are we doing here? [45:22] Well, I was going to say, that's the commander-in-chief. [45:24] Yeah, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs staff. [45:26] The people- [45:27] Yeah, right. [45:27] Yes. [45:29] But how would Biden- [45:30] Lloyd was in Israel. [45:31] He didn't notice that. [45:32] Tony Blinken. [45:33] If I'm a parent of somebody in the military right now, I am apoplectic. [45:37] I am outraged. [45:39] If my child is overseas right now- [45:41] Deployed in Syria, you know, sitting in Oxford- [45:43] Losing my mind. [45:44] For Iranian missiles. [45:45] Just to the DNC. [45:45] Being like, oh yeah, this is the man who's going to respond to that. [45:48] Also, let's think about the geopolitical ramifications of this. [45:51] If I'm Putin, I'm rolling every goddamn thing I have right now into Ukraine tomorrow. [45:55] If I'm China, forget about it. [45:57] We wonder why Bibi just rolls over this guy. [45:59] I was going to say, Bibi as well. [45:59] Oh gee, I wonder. [46:00] I wonder why. [46:01] Tomorrow, there's a new shipment of 500 pound bombs that are going through to Israel tonight. [46:06] If I'm Bibi, I'm going to carpet bomb the shit out of Iraq tomorrow. [46:09] Just drop some tents. [46:09] What is this man going to do? [46:10] Just put the fun of it. [46:11] What's he going to do? [46:11] I would laugh in his face. [46:13] Well, and Bibi wants Trump back in there. [46:15] Yes, especially now. [46:16] It would only help him politically. [46:18] It would hurt Biden. [46:18] He knows that Biden's not going to do anything. [46:20] At this point, I can't even imagine. [46:23] Guys, what are those meetings like between Yoav Gallant, Bibi, and Biden? [46:28] Yeah. [46:29] It's shocking. [46:30] Stories about- [46:30] Already, we knew it was bad. [46:32] You know, G7 leaders and others were leaking. [46:34] They're like, oh my God, I can't believe it. [46:35] I mean, we're the laughing stock of the world. [46:38] Biden's probably calling him gold in my- [46:39] Oh my God. [46:40] Yeah. [46:40] If I was Taiwan, I would be freaking the fuck out. [46:43] I'm not kidding. [46:44] No, no, no, you're right. [46:44] I really am not. [46:45] Like, this is the time. [46:46] This is the time to go. [46:48] The DNC is in six, seven weeks, right? [46:51] Democratic National Convention. [46:52] We'll be there. [46:53] Yeah. [46:53] We'll be on the ground. [46:54] But I think it's fluid now. [46:57] It's going to solidify one way or the other in the next couple of days. [47:00] There's certainly a world in which, like a week from now, we're like, remember when [47:06] there was a moment where Democrats, like, were openly considering dumping Biden and [47:11] now they're just- [47:11] Yeah, we're living in reality. [47:12] And now they're just back to the fantasy land that Biden is going to be their nominee. [47:16] What do you put the odds at? [47:18] Oh, God. [47:18] Like, I think the odds are probably pretty good that they just try to put this piece of [47:23] pottery back together. [47:24] I think so, too. [47:24] And- [47:25] I have a statement from the campaign. [47:26] Emotions- [47:26] We have the first statement from the Biden campaign. [47:28] Tonight, President Biden presented a positive and winning vision for the future of America, [47:33] one in which every American has a fair shout at the American dream, blah, blah, blah. [47:37] On the other side of the stage was Donald Trump, who offered a dark and a backwards window [47:41] into what America would look like if he steps back in office, a country that puts the interests [47:45] of billionaires or working people, a former president who not once but twice but three [47:49] times failed to promise he would accept the results of a free and fair election. [47:53] Trump's performance tonight reminded the American people why they fired him four years ago, [47:56] reinforced just how high the stakes are this November for the future of our country. [48:01] So that is the- [48:02] I mean, look, Ryan, maybe you're right. [48:04] I think it'll just come back to, but Trump is back. [48:06] That's his, you know, that's it. [48:08] Go ahead. [48:08] So the uncommitted movement, they say, we all saw what just happened. [48:13] We have 35 uncommitted delegates in case anyone wants to contest the convention to save lives [48:19] and our democracy. [48:20] So there are 35 delegates that were elected. [48:23] So how would they be able to contest, though? [48:26] Because Biden has the delegates, does he not? [48:28] So basically what you would be trying to get the other delegates to do is to be faithless [48:34] towards Biden. [48:36] But in order to do that, you need people on the floor to say- [48:41] They try to do this to Trump. [48:42] Right, right. [48:43] You would have to have the leader of every- [48:44] The conclusionality. [48:45] Right. [48:45] You'd have to have the leader of every state movement be faithless, convince those people- [48:50] Not necessarily the leaders. [48:51] Isn't it? [48:52] The delegation. [48:52] Does this happen in the, like, rule- [48:54] Is this, like, some rules committee shit that has to happen? [48:55] It's been decades since this has happened. [48:57] That's the thing. [48:57] I think it's literally- [48:58] I think the 1960s might be the last time there's something like that. [49:01] Well, how many- [49:01] Because they're, like, in most cases, they're instructed. [49:05] Like, they don't really have a choice of who they can vote for. [49:07] But the bylaws and the rules are always, like, they're made by people. [49:15] They can be changed by people. [49:17] Yeah. [49:17] Like, you can win a floor knife fight. [49:20] What they're saying is that if anybody wants to try, that the uncommitted delegates are available- [49:26] They're ready. [49:27] To- [49:27] I mean, Democrats still have super delegates, too, which can just do whatever they want. [49:32] That's right. [49:32] What? [49:32] That's, like, seven, eight hundred people? [49:34] They've diminished their importance, but they still are a thing. [49:39] So wouldn't that be the irony of ironies? [49:42] If the super delegates end up being the ones- [49:44] Wasn't that the- [49:45] Super delegates for Bernie? [49:46] Wasn't that the actual justification that in a moment of- [49:49] Populism. [49:50] Like, trouble for the nation, like, they can be the wise ones or something? [49:54] Now's your chance, guys. [49:55] No, that was never real, but that was the actual- [49:58] The irony is that was the justification. [50:00] That is really interesting. [50:00] Is the whole idea of the party decides, and it puts itself above any individual candidate [50:05] and protects its interests at the expense of somebody taking them over. [50:10] Obama effectively destroyed that, you know, after- [50:13] Well, he destroyed it in a certain way and then took it over in his own image. [50:17] Trump basically did the same thing over on the RNC side. [50:20] So we're actually seeing a consequence of, like, weak party structures. [50:23] But also just the fact is, it's the cowards that are in office. [50:27] In the old days, the senators- [50:29] Chuck Schumer has got nothing to lose. [50:32] This man will be resigned to the, you know, trash heap of history. [50:36] He'll be the Senate minority leader. [50:38] And then when his term is up, he's gone. [50:40] He's almost- [50:40] He'll be 80 years old. [50:42] What do you have to lose at this point being like, [50:44] Joe, it's over, dude. [50:45] Well- [50:46] I cannot back you. [50:47] That's- [50:47] Pelosi, too. [50:48] You're- [50:48] How old is she? [50:49] 83? [50:50] I think her- [50:50] She's- [50:51] She might be older than that, actually. [50:51] She's older than Biden. [50:53] What do you have to lose? [50:54] It could be your last service to the country. [50:56] Well, here's where that becomes even more important. [50:59] Typically, a Chuck Schumer or Nancy Pelosi, what they would have to lose is access to [51:03] the powerful people running the country, running the Democratic Party. [51:07] It is clear to everybody right now that Joe Biden is not going to be, A, he's not really [51:12] running things, even if his people are still in charge. [51:14] Yeah. [51:15] But he's not long for, you know, the next decade. [51:18] He's not going to be here that long. [51:19] His post-presidency, however long it is, it's not going to be like one of the guys that [51:24] hung around, like Obama, for example. [51:26] Young, still out there, Netflix, all that stuff. [51:29] That's not happening. [51:30] So they can afford to actually lose their access to the Bidens at this point because it's becoming [51:35] a national disgrace. [51:36] I think Jill Biden is going to take so much heat after this. [51:39] She should. [51:41] The Bidens are losing clout in Washington right now by the minute. [51:44] Whether or not it comes back is a different question. [51:46] That I'm genuinely curious about. [51:48] Does the fact that they're going to do the actual nomination remotely, is that... [51:57] Actually, I was going to say, that's probably a good point because guess what? [52:01] Then you can't organize behind the scenes. [52:02] You can't scream. [52:03] You can't protest. [52:04] You can't organize on a different ballot. [52:06] Try to... [52:07] Because, okay, right. [52:08] That makes it... [52:08] That's a good point. [52:09] Yeah, it makes it harder for people. [52:10] And it also shortens the time frame. [52:12] Because the whole thing with this, guys, is Ohio has some law that, you know, about [52:18] deadline as to when the candidate has to be nominated in order for it to get on the [52:23] ballot. [52:23] And my understanding was that the Ohio Republicans who were in charge of the legislature there [52:29] were like, oh, we'll actually change the law on Democrats. [52:31] We're like, we don't trust you. [52:32] We're still going to do the nomination early and remotely. [52:35] And at the time, it seems like, and I think this was the logic, is like, oh, this will [52:40] be a way to get our nomination done cleanly without having to worry about any protests [52:45] over Palestine and the genocide in Gaza. [52:48] And so, but now it also serves them, serves Joe, in terms of speeding up the timeline and [52:55] also making it more difficult to organize some sort of a floor coup. [53:00] I don't know. [53:01] Yeah. [53:01] I was going to say, the only way is they have to stop the nomination on the first ballot. [53:06] That becomes incredibly difficult because if he gets the nomination there on the first [53:09] ballot, boom, I believe it gets, it goes forward and it gets ratified. [53:12] I honestly think all of this is Cope. [53:14] I think this is all Cope. [53:16] It's on him now. [53:17] It's on the elites too. [53:18] He has to drop out or he's going to be the nominee. [53:21] Yeah. [53:21] And that's it. [53:22] If he decides to hang on, he will be the nominee. [53:25] Yeah, that's right. [53:25] He is the president. [53:27] He is the one. [53:28] He has the people. [53:29] They rigged the debate, the primary for him, the Florida Democratic Party and others and [53:34] multiple other large states that are pledged behind. [53:37] I mean, apparently, so our control room is cutting a clip right now. [53:42] Gavin Newsom and Raphael Warnock were asked in the spin room to react. [53:48] And Gavin was given the opportunity. [53:50] Someone said, do you think President Biden should step aside? [53:53] And he said, no. [53:53] He said he was 100%. [53:55] Yeah, I was going to say, yeah, that would be next level. [53:57] But I'm saying even like the, they're, I think they're clinging to it at least for [54:02] now. [54:02] Yeah, for sure. [54:02] I don't know what that could be. [54:04] Gavin's got to be kicking himself that he did not make it wrong. [54:06] What is he doing? [54:07] Because he would have been the nominee. [54:08] One of the biggest, because he's got money behind him too. [54:11] That's a Chris Christie miss. [54:11] That's a Chris Christie 2012 level miss. [54:14] Chris, he easily could have been the president. [54:16] So could Gavin. [54:17] It's honestly, that's amusing. [54:18] This is the person who had the best night. [54:20] I think the person who had the best night in all of this isn't Trump. [54:22] It's RFK Jr. [54:23] Truly. [54:24] Yeah. [54:24] Because the double hater thing is now going to be the theme of the election. [54:29] Because again, you have two guys talking about their freaking handicaps on the presidential [54:32] debate stage. [54:33] One of which can barely keep his eyelids open. [54:36] Well, they're fighting over it. [54:37] And it's like, guys, take this to the country club, please. [54:39] Like get it off the damn debate stage. [54:41] And I just, I think, you know, we've seen those numbers sometimes are better for Trump. [54:46] But the way when you add RFK Jr. and Jill Stein in though, but the way if Biden clings [54:52] to this and holds on the way that some of those people might just totally go back to [54:57] RFK, because interestingly, Chris Dahlwalt pointed this out today, some of the biggest [55:01] movement has been away from RFK Jr. towards Biden in the last few weeks. [55:06] And so, you know, it's marginal, obviously, when the margins are where they are. [55:11] But what if we see a reversal of that? [55:14] And Democrats saying this is, if Biden clings to it, as Ryan was saying earlier, we could [55:19] definitely see after this debate another 5%, another 10%, another 15% going to RFK Jr. [55:25] That's devastating to both candidates. [55:28] We don't know how it shakes out, but especially to Biden. [55:30] Ryan's point earlier about how it really did change history to not have RFK on that stage [55:37] is a very important one. [55:38] Because I do think if he was there, you know, and people really are internalizing, oh, there's [55:46] this other person out there. [55:48] There's this other option who is younger than both of them. [55:51] There's the same man as a guy who we've heard of. [55:53] Yeah, I've heard of this guy before, right? [55:54] He could become the direct competitor to Trump. [55:57] Right. [55:57] That would have been the consequence. [55:58] Still a two-party system. [56:00] That would have been the consequence. [56:01] And that still could happen. [56:03] It still could happen. [56:04] There's enough people out there who are like, I can't do this. [56:07] That's a lot of incentive actually for Democrats, because no matter what Joe Biden does for the [56:11] rest of this election, if he is the candidate, RFK Jr. is going to get a very healthy bump. [56:14] And that bump is going to help Trump at this point more than Biden. [56:18] So that's more incentive for Democrats as they panic to the word that Joy Reid used. [56:23] And think about this in those smoke-filled back rooms over the next couple of days. [56:26] Because the math with RFK Jr., that should give them the incentive to find someone else. [56:32] We've got Kamala has just appeared on CNN. [56:34] Here's what she says. [56:35] Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong. [56:38] What we saw tonight is the president making a very clear contrast with Donald Trump. [56:43] Yeah. [56:43] Absolutely. [56:44] That's true. [56:47] For the first time, she finally said something true. [56:53] She says, yes, there was a slow start, but it was a strong thing. [56:56] But time is a flat circle. [56:58] Oh, God, it looks orange. [56:59] And that time is also the moment in time that we're in. [57:01] And she didn't just pull out of the cover of the tree. [57:03] And I just. [57:05] But you know what? [57:06] A strong contrast. [57:08] But the fact that even she has to say it's a slow start. [57:12] Oh, yeah, that's it. [57:13] Exactly. [57:14] When your own vice president, top Schiller, like you don't see that. [57:16] It was a slow start, slow middle, and slow finish. [57:18] I've never, I've actually never heard someone who's doing the spin acknowledge any weakness. [57:25] Right, good point. [57:26] Any, like the fact that she knew she had to say. [57:28] Let alone the vice president. [57:30] Got off to a little rocky start. [57:31] But he was great at the end. [57:32] Am I right? [57:33] It's Soviet for her to come out and be like, he's very strong. [57:36] You know, the irony to. [57:37] Let's play this game, though. [57:39] Okay. [57:39] Let's say. [57:40] Let's say. [57:41] Obama comes down. [57:42] Bill Clinton. [57:43] They all. [57:43] All right, Joe. [57:44] It's done. [57:45] Joe drops. [57:46] Is it Kamala? [57:47] Is that who we get? [57:47] No, a sensible Obama says, it's not you. [57:52] It's not Kamala. [57:54] We're going with. [57:55] I think, you know, I think he picks because you can't replace a black lady with a white [57:58] guy. [57:59] I go Gretchen Whitmer. [58:00] That's what somebody said previously. [58:02] I would take somebody like Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan, and he needs to have it preselected. [58:08] All the conversations needs to have already happened. [58:10] The two of you need to step aside. [58:12] You can make the case that, you know, whatever, she's the VP and we need to move on from the [58:16] Biden-Harris ticket or whatever. [58:18] Whitmer-Harris. [58:18] We go with Gretchen Whitmer. [58:20] And somebody tweeted. [58:21] I think we said it. [58:22] Wes Moore. [58:22] Is that with the governor of Maryland? [58:24] So we need a black guy. [58:25] Put him as the VP candidate. [58:26] So then we get our, all of our diversity here. [58:29] I was going to, you could keep Kamala as VP. [58:31] If we're going to make a clean break, we make a clean break. [58:33] They have to deal with her. [58:34] Like they have to make a deal with her. [58:36] They have to give her something. [58:37] That's right. [58:37] Secretary of State. [58:38] Put her on the Supreme Court. [58:39] There you go. [58:40] We'll put her. [58:40] Black woman on the Supreme Court. [58:41] Her opinions would be amazing. [58:43] Yeah. [58:43] Yeah. [58:44] Yeah. [58:44] Yeah. [58:45] They put her on the, they make a deal with her of some kind. [58:48] And they're like, look, we're going to take care of you. [58:51] But it's Jover. [58:52] Whitmer is stepping in. [58:54] Yeah. [58:54] Maybe I guess you could stick around. [58:56] But that's the way it would have to happen. [58:58] Impeach Alito, replace him. [58:59] Because Obama is not stupid. [59:01] You can't, apparently we, okay. [59:03] So we do have a video of Gavin Newsom and of Raphael Warnock being asked in the spin room [59:09] about whether Joe Biden should step aside. [59:11] So let's go ahead and take a listen to how they spun it. [59:14] For the convention is that there is consternation among Democrats. [59:17] Once like David Axelrod have suggested the Democrats should look at replacing Joe Biden on the ticket. [59:22] Would you urge the president to reconsider moving forward? [59:25] Absolutely not. [59:26] I would never have his back 100%. [59:28] I would never turn my back. [59:30] I don't know. [59:31] That's a personal point of view. [59:33] I do not know. [59:33] One Democrat that would do that. [59:35] Why should voters maintain your confidence? [59:38] Listen, listen, I would be concerned if the president didn't have a record to run on. [59:46] The fact of the matter is, this is a man who has passed historic legislation. [59:53] So he'd be concerned if it wasn't for the historic legislation. [59:56] Gavin Newsom says, I'm with him 100%. [1:00:00] But you know, the AP just flashed exactly what you just said, Crystal. [1:00:03] Kamala Harris says Biden had a slow start in the debate. [1:00:05] That was it. [1:00:06] With a strong fit. [1:00:07] Because I think everybody can even pick that up. [1:00:08] I mean, did we ever see Mike Pence once say, yeah, Trump, he was a little bit off the rails. [1:00:13] At the end of the day, he's riding home. [1:00:15] Speaking of Soviet, Mike Pence would be like, and I just, I want to just acknowledge that [1:00:21] Donald J. Trump is the greatest debater that the world has ever seen. [1:00:26] That's exactly what we need to do. [1:00:26] I thank him for his confidence in me. [1:00:28] That's a good offense. [1:00:30] That's shockingly good. [1:00:31] Okay. [1:00:32] Has there ever been a worse debate performance? [1:00:36] No, this is the worst. [1:00:36] This is worse than the Nixon flop swap, right? [1:00:38] The only one that rivals is Lloyd Benson versus, I think, Dan Quayle. [1:00:42] When he said, I know Jack Kennedy. [1:00:44] I served with Jack Kennedy. [1:00:46] Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy. [1:00:47] And I mean, that did genuinely strong. [1:00:49] But it was vice presidential, so it doesn't count. [1:00:50] There are two. [1:00:51] That might be the only one that was. [1:00:52] There are two televised debates that are the most significant in American history. [1:00:56] One is 1960 and one is this. [1:00:57] This belongs in the absolutely 100%. [1:00:59] This is the president of the United States melting on stage. [1:01:02] He is the acting president of the United States melting on stage. [1:01:05] Donald Trump being the host of Celebrity Apprentice and debating Hillary Clinton was spectacular [1:01:09] for many reasons. [1:01:10] Like insane. [1:01:11] I still can't believe it happened. [1:01:12] And his primary performance. [1:01:13] Let's not forget about what he did to Jeb and Marco. [1:01:16] Only Rosie O'Donnell. [1:01:17] Rand Paul is ugly. [1:01:18] Yeah. [1:01:19] Why is Rand Paul even on this stage? [1:01:22] Legendary. [1:01:22] No, but to bring it back, I actually think you're right. [1:01:25] But, yeah. [1:01:25] To rack my brain, I don't think there has ever been a worse performance by a president ever. [1:01:31] And more consequential because I believe it's right. [1:01:35] It's one thing when you're a candidate. [1:01:37] Yeah. [1:01:37] This is the sitting president of the United States. [1:01:41] And just from a cynical perspective, it is true that Republicans and the conservative media [1:01:47] have taken some clips out of context to make Biden look worse than he would have looked [1:01:52] in the full context. [1:01:53] The parachute guy. [1:01:54] But that's also part of how politics works. [1:01:58] Your enemies, your adversaries, are not going to treat you fairly. [1:02:03] So what this has done is that it has allowed them to clip stuff from here until November [1:02:09] all day long. [1:02:10] In context, out of context, it won't matter. [1:02:13] And the public will be like, yep, I believe that. [1:02:15] Well, and here's the thing is they were starting to get a little worried going into this debate [1:02:20] because they realized they had done such an effective job of making everyone, you know, [1:02:25] that word cloud we put up on the screen. [1:02:27] Literally every demographic, every partisan identification says the number one they think [1:02:30] of with Joe Biden is old. [1:02:33] The expectations for him were so low, so low going in, just as in the State of the Union, [1:02:39] so low going in that you had a real effort in conservative media this week to be like, [1:02:44] I don't know, Joe Biden. [1:02:46] Donald Trump, I think, even was like, I saw him with Paul Ryan. [1:02:48] He did a great job. [1:02:49] I think he's going to do a fantastic job. [1:02:50] I had those thoughts myself because there were, he had good moments in 2020, but it- [1:02:55] All of us thought it. [1:02:56] No, ever, we've seen him do fine enough when the moment called for it. [1:03:01] The State of the Union is our best example. [1:03:03] Crystal, I think your point is the best here. [1:03:06] He was reading off a teleprompter when he actually is required to use an iota of his brain. [1:03:11] He melts just like he does in the press conferences that we've seen. [1:03:14] At the G7 that we've seen in every spontaneous reaction. [1:03:17] And so what we saw here is why they did not put him up for an interview with the Super Bowl. [1:03:22] It is why they have stopped him from doing less presidential press conferences than any [1:03:28] modern American president. [1:03:29] When there is any iota of chaos or any of that involved that they can't control, he falls apart. [1:03:35] And I cannot even imagine what these meetings are like, what we were talking about. [1:03:38] In the joint juice situation room. [1:03:41] I mean, it's just, it blows the mind. [1:03:43] It's worse than we thought. [1:03:44] It really is. [1:03:45] I think I'm curious for your take on this. [1:03:46] I think if Trump missed anything, it was the opportunity to kind of make fun of Biden a little bit more. [1:03:54] I don't think he should have. [1:03:55] I think he did the best there. [1:03:56] When something is so bad, it's like when you're talking, it's hard to explain. [1:04:00] But it's like when someone is so far gone, you have to show sympathy. [1:04:04] And at the best, he has- [1:04:05] It's like Ryan debating you on weed. [1:04:07] There you go. [1:04:08] He has to show sympathy. [1:04:08] Yeah, he just has to show sympathy for me. [1:04:10] And I don't addle my brain with disgusting drugs. [1:04:12] But the point is, is that when someone is that, it is an act of kindness and magnanimity to step back. [1:04:21] And we saw that with Trump too. [1:04:22] Did you remember? [1:04:22] When he goes, this is childish. [1:04:24] Let's not act childish. [1:04:25] I was like, what? [1:04:26] I was like, what upside down universe am I living in? [1:04:29] We have the one moment where he made, where Trump, this is F2 guys that I'm queuing up here, [1:04:34] where he did allude to the fact that Biden is incoherent. [1:04:39] When he was president, he was taking, separating babies from their mothers, [1:04:43] putting them in cages, making sure the families were separated. [1:04:47] That's not the right way to go. [1:04:49] What I've done since I've changed the law, what's happened? [1:04:52] I've changed it in a way that now you're in a situation where there are 40% fewer people [1:04:58] coming across the border illegally. [1:04:59] It's better than when he left office. [1:05:02] And I'm going to continue to move until we get the total ban on the total initiative [1:05:08] relative to what we're going to do with more border patrol and more asylum officers. [1:05:13] President Trump? [1:05:14] I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence. [1:05:17] I don't think he knows what he said either. [1:05:18] Look. [1:05:19] He doesn't know what he said either. [1:05:20] But in general, of course, even that, I've seen Trump, I've seen him go after people. [1:05:25] We remember the whole disabled thing. [1:05:27] For a man of him to comport himself this way, I think even he understood in this moment, [1:05:33] I almost need to be a secondary character. [1:05:36] And what? [1:05:36] You and I, all of us, we've been talking here for about an hour and 15 minutes. [1:05:40] We barely talked about Donald Trump's performance because that's not the story. [1:05:43] Yeah. [1:05:43] And I think that Trump, the showman, he understood that in that moment. [1:05:47] He could have actually, he probably could have lost the moment. [1:05:50] He probably could have gone in on Biden. [1:05:53] A different Trump goes in, almost makes him feel bad, makes us feel bad in comparison. [1:05:57] Yeah, that's the thing is it just would have felt mean. [1:06:00] Like what he did there, that was fine. [1:06:03] Yes. [1:06:03] That was it. [1:06:05] We didn't need you to lay out for us that this was going terribly for Joe Biden [1:06:09] and he's incoherent and senile and can't formulate a sentence. [1:06:11] We could see that. [1:06:13] Like, I think if he had really gone in on that, yeah, it would have felt too mean. [1:06:19] I don't know that it really would change anything because ultimately the story is Biden. [1:06:24] But yeah, Trump smartly made sure to step back for once and, you know, [1:06:30] let Biden have the headlines out of this debate. [1:06:32] Yeah, if you watch Trump's face, like you watch Trump's face just as Biden starts talking [1:06:38] in the very beginning, he's like doing like double and triple takes. [1:06:43] And I'm sure he was just like, oh, wow, it's going to be an easy night. [1:06:46] Because it wasn't just the incoherence or the inability to formulate a thought. [1:06:53] It was the look. [1:06:55] It was the voice. [1:06:57] It was the total package. [1:06:59] Like stumbling a little. [1:07:01] Yeah. [1:07:01] And I mean, in that, you know. [1:07:02] Apparently Jill Biden had to leave him, leave him off stage. [1:07:05] Like she had to lead him down the stairs. [1:07:07] Come on. [1:07:08] We were all. [1:07:09] For the good of the country, step up. [1:07:11] If you love your husband. [1:07:12] Because what they always said about that, that infamous Nixon, Kennedy, Kennedy, the flop sweat [1:07:18] debate, is that people who listen on the radio actually thought Nixon had won. [1:07:23] But because it was televised and he's sweating and the way he looks, nobody on the radio or TV or there was no medium in which anyone was thinking. [1:07:33] Well, maybe telegraph. [1:07:35] Someone came across. [1:07:36] Yeah. [1:07:36] Which is how Biden gets his news. [1:07:38] If you read the transcript, you'd still just be like, what the fuck is going on here? [1:07:43] If you're like, Medicare, like we beat Medicare. [1:07:46] I bet that most people don't even think Trump won. [1:07:48] Like they think he won by default. [1:07:50] Yeah. [1:07:50] Yeah. [1:07:51] Objectively. [1:07:51] But that's what we're saying. [1:07:52] But really Biden lost. [1:07:53] Yeah, exactly. [1:07:54] I mean, I don't even know what Trump said. [1:07:56] He hung himself. [1:07:56] Bingo. [1:07:57] I didn't even think or pay attention to what Trump was saying. [1:08:00] I'm just like, I can't. [1:08:01] He said Joe Biden was a bad Palestinian. [1:08:05] He just got that. [1:08:05] That was funny. [1:08:06] That was an interesting one. [1:08:07] He's a Palestinian, but he's not even a good one. [1:08:10] Not even they like him. [1:08:11] He's weak. [1:08:11] He's a bad person. [1:08:12] He's a weak Palestinian. [1:08:14] Palestinians apparently is slur now. [1:08:16] But yeah, it was just. [1:08:17] But was he trying to be nice to Palestinians that like lots of Palestinians are strong or [1:08:21] something? [1:08:22] You're thinking too deeply. [1:08:23] I don't know. [1:08:23] It's just. [1:08:24] Yeah. [1:08:24] That was a new one. [1:08:26] It was. [1:08:27] We've got a question here from our locals chat for our premium subscribers. [1:08:30] Shout out, by the way, breakingpoints.com to support us. [1:08:33] And they say, what is the drop dead date? [1:08:35] No pun intended for replacing Biden. [1:08:38] So what? [1:08:39] We've got six weeks. [1:08:40] It will be the longest six weeks in six weeks. [1:08:42] American political history. [1:08:43] Because he doesn't actually need to be on the Ohio ballot anyway because he's not going [1:08:46] to win Ohio. [1:08:47] Yeah. [1:08:48] But basically, you have to be on every ballot that matters and gets you to 270. [1:08:54] But you have to be on enough state ballots where you can win 270 plus votes. [1:08:59] And that's really late August, early September. [1:09:03] I'm looking. [1:09:04] DNC to virtually nominate Biden, Harris. [1:09:07] But even then, it's tough because of the Electoral College. [1:09:09] So if you're only on, you can get 270. [1:09:11] But in states, for example, if you're a Democrat, it's a bunch of red states. [1:09:14] Yeah. [1:09:15] No, no. [1:09:16] No. [1:09:16] 270 where you can plausibly win is what I mean. [1:09:18] They need to replace him before the convention so that they can get on the ballot and all, [1:09:22] which they're already all on the ballot on all 50. [1:09:24] And they can run if they were going to do it. [1:09:27] The convention starts on the 19th. [1:09:28] When's the virtual thing they're talking about? [1:09:30] So it says they haven't confirmed, according to this ABC News article, they haven't confirmed [1:09:35] a date when the virtual nomination will happen, but it has to be before the August 7th Ohio [1:09:39] ballot deadline. [1:09:41] And now that's going to be. [1:09:43] So it's like a month. [1:09:45] Yeah. [1:09:45] That could also become now more scandalous than it was before. [1:09:49] Because if they. [1:09:50] The online convention. [1:09:50] If they come out, nobody was paying attention to this online thing. [1:09:53] Yeah. [1:09:54] Except total. [1:09:54] Except us. [1:09:55] Except we're going to go. [1:09:57] Except this show. [1:09:58] And all weirdos watching us. [1:09:59] Yeah. [1:10:00] Those people were paying attention. [1:10:01] Yeah. [1:10:01] But the country was not. [1:10:03] And so now all of a sudden, if you have a headline that says Democrats to rush nomination [1:10:07] of Biden two weeks before election, they're going, oh, geez. [1:10:11] Yeah. [1:10:11] This is this. [1:10:12] This looks corrupt. [1:10:13] True. [1:10:14] Yeah. [1:10:14] Have Republicans changed it yet? [1:10:16] Changed the date for the Ohio ballot thing? [1:10:20] I'm not sure. [1:10:20] No, theirs is in July, though, because so they'll be fine. [1:10:23] Theirs is like July 19th. [1:10:24] No, no, no. [1:10:24] I mean, did the Republicans in Ohio change the law like they said they would? [1:10:28] I don't know, actually. [1:10:29] I'm not sure. [1:10:29] But like I said, it doesn't matter because he's not going to win Ohio. [1:10:31] Right. [1:10:32] All right. [1:10:32] Here's a question from a fellow 500 from one of our premium subscribers. [1:10:36] Could this be the moment for third parties? [1:10:38] And I think that actually might be the most fascinating part of our discussion tonight. [1:10:41] I think Ryan's point about how it really was something that changed the course of history [1:10:45] to exclude RFK Jr. from this debate. [1:10:47] You said something after Ryan made that point about how it would have felt like it was a [1:10:52] two-man race, not between Trump and Biden, but between Trump and RFK Jr. [1:10:56] And if ever there were a moment for the third party, the plausible third party candidate to [1:11:02] hit that lane, well, I think it might have been tonight because they'll find a million [1:11:06] different ways. [1:11:06] If they replace Biden, I mean, they can find a candidate that's even better, that makes [1:11:10] RFK Jr. less attractive to certain voters. [1:11:12] So it could have been- [1:11:14] Joe Manchin kicking himself, not taking that no labels. [1:11:16] Tonight could have been the night that the two-party system was dealt a significant, [1:11:21] the most significant blow to the- [1:11:24] The alternative is that Biden hangs on, RFK's still on the ballot, and he wins like 32% of [1:11:30] the vote. [1:11:30] That would be insane. [1:11:31] That would actually blow up the entire system. [1:11:32] Well, that's- [1:11:33] Like, no, it really would. [1:11:34] Those are Perot numbers. [1:11:34] He could do better than that. [1:11:35] Yeah. [1:11:36] I mean, if you win a third of the popular vote in this country, it's game over. [1:11:39] I mean, you created something, regardless of whether you want to or not. [1:11:42] Except it really doesn't create a three-party system. [1:11:44] You just get a new two-party system. [1:11:47] True. [1:11:47] Yeah. [1:11:47] But I mean, in a certain way, that's what's always happened. [1:11:50] Right. [1:11:50] Exactly. [1:11:51] With higher third parties. [1:11:51] You absorb and destroy. [1:11:53] Wigs go away. [1:11:54] Right. [1:11:54] And the Republicans rise. [1:11:55] Democrats rise. [1:11:56] Yeah. [1:11:56] Not as if all of a sudden you have a multi-party system. [1:11:59] I don't know. [1:12:00] I just, I think there are enough people who are still so locked in to just like, you know, [1:12:09] he's the president, he's a Democrat, he's not Trump. [1:12:13] You know, I, RFK Jr. will benefit, but I'm skeptical that you will have enough people that [1:12:21] will go to him, especially if he continues to be shut out of mainstream forums, et cetera, [1:12:25] to actually challenge. [1:12:27] But who the hell knows? [1:12:29] I think it's harder to shut him out going forward, too, though. [1:12:31] I think so, too. [1:12:32] There's, I can tell you one thing's for sure. [1:12:34] If Biden is a Democratic nominee, there ain't no way in hell they're doing that second debate. [1:12:38] Oh, no. [1:12:39] That shit is not happening. [1:12:41] It's actually COVID, and he needs 10 weeks of isolation. [1:12:45] But they're only announcing it during the debate. [1:12:47] That's right. [1:12:47] Like, oh, we're so sorry. [1:12:50] What if he's down by 10? [1:12:51] Yeah. [1:12:51] Then they do what you suggest, and they're just like, well, hopefully the Senate and the [1:12:55] House, and we'll cross our fingers and look forward to 2028. [1:12:58] I think Biden will do it, and I think he will be down by 10, because Biden is so arrogant. [1:13:02] He'd be like, we're going to show him this time, Jack. [1:13:05] He's going to come back. [1:13:06] In his mind, he's not, unless there's a full court, they're not going to do it. [1:13:12] No, but I'm saying hypothetically, what does that do to the ballots? [1:13:15] So if they- [1:13:15] I don't know. [1:13:17] I saw a funny, I saw an interesting question here. [1:13:20] Someone said, I can't find it. [1:13:22] Oh, here we go. [1:13:23] Putting conspiracy hat on, was this debate pushed by Dems to embarrass Biden out of the [1:13:27] nothing? [1:13:28] It's impossible. [1:13:28] I don't trust them enough to do that. [1:13:30] It just was the de facto result. [1:13:31] Right. [1:13:32] And you said that from the beginning. [1:13:32] You were like, some people are actually cheering him from do terrible. [1:13:35] Right. [1:13:35] So he'll just drop out. [1:13:36] Yeah. [1:13:36] Right. [1:13:37] I don't think that's why they did it. [1:13:38] But there are definitely a lot of Democrats sitting around the country who are like, this [1:13:41] is our last chance to save the party and save the country and save democracy. [1:13:45] But if Biden completely implodes on stage and they got their wish, like they got the performance [1:13:52] that in a small d democratic system would lead to him stepping down. [1:13:59] And it's a real test of whether there are any democratic veins still kind of running through [1:14:03] that body or not. [1:14:04] Because democracy is not just like running through the traps of procedural elections. [1:14:08] It's like actual, actually, can the will of a public be expressed through the various [1:14:14] systems of pressure you have? [1:14:16] I'm so cynical. [1:14:16] I don't think so. [1:14:17] No, I don't think so either. [1:14:18] I think he will run. [1:14:19] I think he's arrogant. [1:14:21] And I don't think Obama, Schumer, or any of those people have the courage to tell him [1:14:25] that it's time to go. [1:14:26] Yeah. [1:14:27] And I think we are. [1:14:29] It's, wow. [1:14:30] Yeah. [1:14:30] And it's amazing to contemplate. [1:14:32] Yeah. [1:14:32] That nobody wants him to run. [1:14:35] Yeah. [1:14:35] And be on the ballot, yet he will be on the ballot. [1:14:37] Yeah. [1:14:37] And that is not new, by the way. [1:14:42] The American people, the Democratic Party, how many polls do we cover? [1:14:46] Majority Democrats. [1:14:47] We want options. [1:14:48] We do not want to just go with Joe Biden. [1:14:51] We would at least like to have some choices. [1:14:53] And what did the Democratic Party do in response? [1:14:55] How about we literally cancel primaries? [1:14:58] How about that? [1:14:59] How about we do that? [1:15:00] Because democracy is on the ballot, guys. [1:15:02] Yeah. [1:15:02] They lost a bunch of mayoral races in Florida. [1:15:04] Did you follow that story? [1:15:05] Yes. [1:15:06] Because they canceled the primary. [1:15:07] They canceled the primary, and then Republicans were like, oh, wait, I'm mayor of this town? [1:15:11] Right. [1:15:11] This Democratic town now? [1:15:12] Right. [1:15:12] Because people didn't show up for the, yeah. [1:15:14] I mean. [1:15:15] There have been so many criminal acts like along the way that in retrospect, I mean, which [1:15:20] we called out here on the show live, and we're like, this is not going to look good. [1:15:23] This is going to be bad. [1:15:24] This could be a bad precedent. [1:15:26] What about this primary? [1:15:27] What about this? [1:15:28] Ridicule after ridicule. [1:15:30] People just move on. [1:15:31] And they thought they could bluff their way. [1:15:32] And this is the result they got. [1:15:34] So, any closing remarks? [1:15:36] What do you guys think? [1:15:37] Emily? [1:15:38] God bless America. [1:15:40] We beat Medicare. [1:15:41] We finally beat Medicare. [1:15:44] Thank goodness. [1:15:45] By the way. [1:15:46] That's it. [1:15:47] That was an insane moment. [1:15:49] By the way. [1:15:50] He goes, by the way. [1:15:51] And he also had 37 seconds left. [1:15:53] And she was like, do you want to finish? [1:15:57] By the way. [1:16:03] It's funny, but it's not funny. [1:16:04] That's actually what I wanted to close with. [1:16:06] It's like, I'm laughing a lot because it's so preposterous, but it's dark. [1:16:11] Yeah. [1:16:11] This is dark. [1:16:13] That we got, I mean, everything about it, that we got to this place, that this is where [1:16:16] we are as a country, these two dudes, this guy who can't, I mean, and your point about [1:16:21] it being such a test of, is there even a shred of democracy, actual democracy, still [1:16:27] operational? [1:16:29] Because, I mean, if you polled the American people right now after watching that debate, [1:16:33] what percentage of them would be like, yes, Joe Biden, all the way, this is the guy. [1:16:38] Maybe 5%. [1:16:39] And they're all 80 years old. [1:16:41] 85. [1:16:42] They know better. [1:16:42] Oh, you think so? [1:16:43] Yes, 80 and 85. [1:16:44] They're like, you know what, I'm in my golden years, come join us. [1:16:47] How many elderly, yeah, how many elderly people have you talked to who say, like, I couldn't [1:16:51] do the job, I wouldn't want to do the job, like, I know what I feel like right now. [1:16:55] Yeah. [1:16:56] All right. [1:16:56] Last thoughts, Ryan? [1:16:57] Well, Democrats had said privately, you know, it's good that this is so early so that if [1:17:02] he botches it terribly, we can recover. [1:17:05] So we're going to find out if that genius plan is going to work out. [1:17:08] All right. [1:17:09] There we go. [1:17:10] I think I've said everything. [1:17:11] I got nothing else left to say. [1:17:13] We'll see. [1:17:14] They either pull him or they don't. [1:17:16] I hope for the sake of the country they do. [1:17:17] I don't think that they will.
