"hey everybody we are here today with doc wyatt and gavin hignite of wandering planet toys and they have created the first ever kolchak figure carl kolchak uh and um for those of you out there who don't know who carl kolchak is uh shame on him on you there he is you're very young so thanks for being"

[00:00:00] Speaker 1: hey everybody we are here today with doc wyatt and gavin hignite of wandering planet toys and they have created the first ever kolchak figure carl kolchak uh and um for those of you out there who don't know who carl kolchak is uh shame on him on you there he is you're very young so thanks for being with us today guys and spending time talking to us hey thanks for [00:00:29] Speaker 2: having us before we get started if you are watching this right now at any point we would like you to vote who has the best background right now oh come on let me get this cleaned up here i don't know how you could possibly how as a viewer right now you could decide who had because all of us all three have are filled with action figures from top to bottom you you it would be hard i would be hard pressed to decide who had the best right now i'm trying to think here like this is there might be stuff around i know i know who i would vote for just because there's something in the picture that i have always wanted to re-add to my collection and i have been able to re-add yes that i had as a child and i have not been able to find it for which one is it it's the godzilla yeah the shogun warrior 100 yeah it was the same for me i had to find it yeah yeah i had godzilla and rodan [00:01:22] Speaker 1: when i was a kid oh that was cool the rodan was the best made toy i ever owned it was amazing i think [00:01:29] Speaker 3: guys for me it was this for me it was the uh the dune sandworm i got to do salmon in the box in the box [00:01:36] Speaker 2: that's pretty cool yeah that was my reacquisition that was nice so let's talk about how you got the kolchak license how you why you created a figure of kolchak at the first figure ever made of kolchak right actually the first the first piece of merchandise right really like there's really like well i mean the books yeah probably t-shirt or so here or there but nothing like nothing collectible [00:02:04] Speaker 1: really not really because kolchak is an extreme cult property i mean yeah i know it because my older cousins were also horror fans and they had a big influence on me so that's how i ended up watching them when they re-aired at some point in the 80s somewhere i think i watched them yeah yeah and uh but they were from the early 70s the first television movies yeah 72 yeah and if if uh people out there are unfamiliar uh carl chalk carl kolchak carl kolchak was a reporter a wire service reporter who investigated weird crimes that usually ended up having a supernatural explanation so it was kind of a precursor to x-files you know totally yeah chris carter absolutely in interviews when x-files was [00:02:49] Speaker 3: first coming out in the 90s absolutely said uh that he drew inspiration from kolchak and loved kolchak [00:02:55] Speaker 2: yeah it's not gonna watch it right now it's it's all it's streaming kolchak is streaming so if you never watch it and you like reporters fighting vampires and werewolves and all kinds of other stuff yeah go go watch it and buy the figure like that's yeah why why yeah yeah yeah do it all what what [00:03:13] Speaker 3: leads you guys to creating a kolchak figure i have to tell you from when we first started yeah making indie toys gavin said to me oh my god one day maybe we can do kolchak and so that has been since since maybe the first meeting we ever had talking about uh indie toys it was on gavin's radar yeah and just [00:03:34] Speaker 4: out of you know uh and doc and i both our love for it we love you know we love it's he's such a great character yeah um he's and we we really are drawn towards you know let's let's make stuff that that deserves stuff and never got stuff you know prisoner what we launched with was very much in that category going to talk about that it's one of my favorite tv shows of all time oh me too yeah love it and and we felt you know um it was just like yeah okay i want i want carl kolchak on my shelf you know with all my other you know especially all our monster toys and our horror stuff yeah sure yeah especially [00:04:12] Speaker 1: if you have any universal monsters he'd be great yeah who holds the license to it who who do you have [00:04:18] Speaker 3: to do it yeah oh sorry oh you go ahead doc yeah uh the jeff rice estate jeff was the original author of kolchak the the novels that the novelist the movies were based on and the character rights remain with his estate but we got access to it through our friends at monstrous books so monstrous has been doing the lord's work in the last several years they brought jeff rice's original book which was out of print for some stupid reason they brought it back in print they made it available again and then they've been doing some really wonderful like if you're a kolchak fan at all you probably already know about it uh but if you don't check out monstrous because they've been doing great they just did um a kolchak versus classes monsters and graphic novel anthology it's fantastic um they've got uh just a whole bunch of great stuff and we are friendly we're friendly with him just through industry stuff and uh he's the one who helped us uh hook us up with the jeff rice estate and who sort of smoothed everything if it weren't for james shout out to james monstrous uh we wouldn't be able to make this figure yeah and [00:05:26] Speaker 4: it's really cool because it's like a new chapter uh you know in kolchak's life in media all these great comic book and graphic novel adventures you know it's cool to see him live on in a new medium uh i you know getting into this got that edition of the book the new edition from them and uh god i really enjoy it it's you know of course i love the show of course i love the tv movies but um reading the book is a completely different similar but different experience and i highly recommend it um it's cool it takes place in vegas you know in like seven you know in the 70s and it's it's vegas is such a character already of that era that it really adds to the you know he's he's at a diner at three in the morning with you know his friend who's a a you know a show girl on the floor and she just got off and he's getting info from her and it just feels right it's a really cool atmosphere for the book can people [00:06:22] Speaker 3: get that where where can you buy that if well it's on amazon or you can get it directly from uh from monstrous which is a good way to do it um you know they have a bunch of different options like [00:06:34] Speaker 1: yeah it's awesome highly recommended nice so what um what leads you guys into the indie toy business [00:06:43] Speaker 4: uh we both had to tell our wives that all the toys we bought meant something that we would start writing yeah it's work it's work it's research thought i was the only one that [00:06:56] Speaker 2: did that no we're in a club my friend while you're running a podcast yeah yeah so i can go and buy [00:07:03] Speaker 4: comic books and toys yeah yeah totally it's research yeah you know uh doc and i are animation writers and producers and and work on another side of the toy equation which is the the shows that you know show off the toys and stuff and him and i had been working on stuff like like marvel stuff and ninja turtles and one thing that was a constant was when we were not working we were in a writer's room or something or a meeting as soon as you know pencils were down and it was time to relax we would talk toys and i think i was really inspired by people like um marauder inc marauder gun runners who do kind of a military gi joe style they're really the first people i saw in modern time independently making toys that are as good as like a hasbro or mattel and utilizing crowdfunding uh then we met our buddy bill um bill who's at fresh monkey fiction and now at big bad workshop uh he was making eagle force yeah bill murphy is making eagle force which once again 80s property little diecast but he brought them in the yeah they're great toys and he acquired the license and and made a modern version that sit on the shelf with gi joe and that was really for me i'm like okay i i want to do this too and i i i pitched you know doc and i were already talking about it and doc's middle name is number two if you're a prisoner fan it's doc number two wyatt and so i i pitched him prisoner knowing he would say yes and god we are [00:08:40] Speaker 3: that show yeah i i do have more number two energy than number six energy like i definitely am more [00:08:48] Speaker 2: likely to torture than escape torture when did when did those come out when did the prisoner figures come [00:08:53] Speaker 3: out uh well our first wave was 2022 we were very clever we thought let's wait for a pandemic and then launch a toy line yeah right when people aren't working right when they have less uh spare uh income in their pocket but a lot more time to shop online yeah and more more time to make bad decisions [00:09:18] Speaker 1: yeah that too yeah and desperately think about something like the prisoner of kolchak rather than [00:09:23] Speaker 2: what's actually happening yeah yeah right yeah that escapism we started we started yeah a lot of this right around then so we did we did the same thing we we had nothing to do so have you only watched [00:09:35] Speaker 3: the prisoner since the pandemic i haven't watched it no i watched it yeah let me tell you something watching the prisoner post pandemic is absolutely a new dimension to watching the prisoner because that idea of being closed in of seeing the same people all the time like not getting any answers not knowing when it's going to end like it was like uh it's a different [00:09:56] Speaker 1: experience to watch it post pandemic that show i didn't see it until i was an adult but i had heard about it as a sci-fi fan like my whole life it was always in starlight magazine they were always selling the pins or you know whatever and i never knew what it was and i i never saw it because i i just don't remember it ever being on tv where i could watch it and then someone let me the dvd set of it and i think i watched it in like two days and i i couldn't believe that that show was from the time period that it was from i was like this is what british television was doing then like we were getting [00:10:32] Speaker 4: her like hawaii 5-0 and they had this yeah not that i don't want to make hawaii 5-0 figures because [00:10:41] Speaker 2: if you're watching i want the license yeah well and that i think that will come later in the discussion because i i would love to know what other stuff you are looking to do and have planned because the kolchak figure looks absolutely fantastic thank you explain to us what like what is coming with the kolchak figure so i know that there's a variant that comes in a two-pack and it comes with a bunch of stuff so let's let everybody know first what they are and second where they can get them if they would like to buy them yeah doc you want to go you want me to go uh so we are [00:11:11] Speaker 3: crowdfunding them we're on kickstarter uh and uh so you can the campaign is currently active uh when [00:11:18] Speaker 2: when is this going out oh this will probably be about a month from now i need i need time oh oh no okay then different answer when different answer it's if you need it earlier that it will help you let me know and we could put it out earlier we can push this up earlier okay oh we got 10 days to go so i don't know if that's that might be too soon that's too quick for me because i won't next week we're off so i won't that 10 days is a little quick but so yeah but we have late [00:11:43] Speaker 4: yeah so so yeah here's the thing uh kickstarter does this thing called late bidding or late pledging now right so even after the campaign closes your audience who are all gonna want cold check i know um they can go to the kickstarter also and they can just do a late pledge uh also um we utilize backer kit when we fulfill our campaigns which means we get to build a backer kit pre-order store so about three weeks to a month after the campaign closes we'll open up now that we've funded so as of recording this thanks to how many people doc like a thousand over a thousand backers yeah thanks to all those folks we funded this toy is getting made we'll have a a kind of a pre-order store where you can you know you can kind of late pledge there too yeah so cool yeah never fear we'll [00:12:39] Speaker 2: get you a call check if you want we'll get it so if you missed if you missed the kickstarter you'll [00:12:43] Speaker 4: still be able to buy it in that yeah and it's like a pre-order takes us about nine to 12 months to manufacture everything once because it's you know i mean y'all know you collect toys the tooling and the molds is so expensive to make these things we can't do it until that money comes from backers to kickstarter to we send it to the factory we start making tools so um yeah you know you've got nine months to to [00:13:11] Speaker 2: pre-order but sooner is better than later yeah yeah sure so what so explain i i know that there's different versions so explain what what what you have out there what people can get well doc said he was [00:13:24] Speaker 4: going to quit wandering planet toys if we didn't make a blood splattered version so the version that's packed with scorseni the vampire is you know they're like big duel at the end of the story is blood splattered so that's the variant there he's pretty cool there's a standard one which is just boxed by himself um he they come with really cool stuff he's got a typewriter it's unlike other action figures he includes a typewriter and a tape recorder and a camera and they're all specific to the era it was really fun researching those and getting the models right what else doc uh lunchbox well yeah we got a [00:14:05] Speaker 3: uh lunchbox uh the two-pack i mean you got to get the two-pack because scores so the original um the the novel itself and the original made for tv movie that launched it all so that's where kolchak comes from and in 1972 there's a made for tv movie called the night stalker and karl kochak is the star of the night stalker and this movie did gangbusters it came out of nowhere and was massively massively popular it launched a sequel called the night strangler it launched the series that they called kolchak the night stalker which is confusing and the reason it's confusing is because the night stalker is the name of the vampire vampire yeah somebody's killing ladies in vegas and it turns out it's a vampire and the press dubs this this serial killer the night stalker and that's why the movie's called that that's why but it became so well known it was so popular so well known that they didn't want to just make a show called kolchak because what if nobody remembers that that's the name of the star of the night stalker so they called the tv show kolchak the night stalker but of course again spoiler alert skorzeny is let's say not in subsequent stories so we you've got a a whole bunch of people who tuned in for the tv show maybe didn't see the movie and just thinks carl is the night why they call him that when he's a reporter it's confusing um we couldn't do a kolchak the night stalker line and not do the night stalker and so we got yanos skorzeny the uh murderous vampire uh on the streets of vegas in in the line he's a [00:15:41] Speaker 4: fun toy too it was so fun doc and i are big horror fans besides all the stuff i love and we've really not gotten to scratch the horror itch uh and the mon especially the monster itch so man just working on his like fangs and the facial expression it was just fun yeah yeah that's cool it looks great too [00:16:01] Speaker 2: it really looks they look the figures look fantastic thank you very well done yeah i was reading up on [00:16:07] Speaker 1: the background of the tv movies too and there's two really impressive pieces of trivia that i found first off you said the movie did gangbusters uh on the line it said it got a 54 share in the ratings which is like unheard of nowadays like the super bowl doesn't get that now like that's insane and [00:16:24] Speaker 3: that's the magic of three networks right yeah that's right over half the televisions that were turned on at the moment yeah and uh the um the other thing was that both the first two tv movies were written [00:16:36] Speaker 1: by richard matheson who's an amazing television and uh yeah a lot of twilight zones he wrote uh i am he wrote the novel i am legend legend yeah uh yeah he was a great great writer so i was really i didn't know that i mean i already seen those movies a long time ago but i didn't realize and the idea of something having a 54 share that's crazy ratings is nuts and it comes from an era where tv movies were [00:16:58] Speaker 4: like good they were like oh yeah yeah gargoyles well oh yeah where is that right where's our our 4k of [00:17:08] Speaker 1: that right yeah visually impressive but uh if you re-watch it you might be a little disappointed [00:17:15] Speaker 2: so who's the sculptor on it who who's your sculptor okay who oh our buddy adrian who is he really likes [00:17:21] Speaker 4: being behind the scenes uh he yeah um but adrian worked with us on god he's worked with us almost from the beginning uh he's actually out kind of east coast and we work remotely with him we're on you know west coast uh but yeah adrian sculpted uh both yeah but actually both no actually adrian our buddy adrian squirted uh kolchak and then skarsini was sculpted by ed who um ed's done a lot of our stuff he did all the nancy drew stuff for us um he did half of prisoner wave two um you know it's it's hard to find people who can really nail this and so when you find them you're like it's like finding a good motorcycle mechanic or a dentist like you don't let go of them you know keep them around yeah um but yeah so they sculpted and then monstrous provided us with the license real access to their art you know from the comics and the graphic novels so we got really great art from you know from their archive of great artists and then i always have to give a shout out to jenny moore who is our graphic designer um because well one she puts up with doc and i which was you know uh and then two i mean her design is i met her all the way back at tokyo pop i used to work with tokyo pop uh when i was a bit younger um and so you know she's always levels up our ideas and always brings the a-game and and um she's done all everything so far uh that we've we've put out from prisoner to headless ones all the way now oh and then like laurel and hardy i mean i mean look at that just the beautiful box yeah that is so nice like she really yeah yeah this is our last campaign that fulfilled we just got these in and and got them to all our backers and now they're hitting our retail thank you we love these guys and now you can do the kolchak laurel and hardy spin off the crossover that you've always been having they are scaled together [00:19:26] Speaker 3: yeah we haven't gotten them to all our backers because 14 backers will not fill out their surveys for whatever reason backers if you are watching please fill out your surveys we want to send you your [00:19:37] Speaker 2: toys you already yeah right why would you why would yeah that's so i know they've already given us money yeah two years ago right a year ago yeah that that's that's strange what so what else do you have [00:19:48] Speaker 4: planned anything else planned that you could talk about well we're weird in that we kind of keep secrets you know because we're small and as we pursue things just bigger more enabled people can pounce on it right um but we always have teasers though um i will say doc doc will let me say that you know we're not finished with prisoner uh we're working on uh another a really really cool something that might have wheels or the final you know for the for the you know what we think might be our final retro wave um and we're really knocking down the door with horror we got a huge license um that might have to do with a certain italian filmmaker okay um so expect frederico fellini yeah expect that fellini line you never knew we were gonna no i don't but i don't want to it's it's more [00:20:48] Speaker 1: existential horror really you can't i know you can't tell us but i think i know who you're talking about i can't guess because i i love italian horrors okay uh do not do not guess you might be too close [00:20:59] Speaker 3: then you'll know i don't know if you're you might guess one of three people and whichever one you're [00:21:06] Speaker 1: going to guess i have two names in my head and they're they're very obvious brian will get when [00:21:10] Speaker 2: we are no longer recording yeah oh i like that that sounds good yeah yeah but yeah with kolchak you have [00:21:17] Speaker 3: any other plans for kolchak figures not well that's not currently yeah i mean if the fan demand is there we're gonna make the toys there is nothing currently planned or scheduled uh for kolchak beyond this [00:21:31] Speaker 4: yeah and and i'll add to that we in making it we're really just like we really wanted to make a very satisfying let's nail kolchak because like if we're amazed we get to do it you know let's make a really solid kolchak and then of course we he has to have someone to battle so let's just of course any um you know when we did prisoner wave 2 a couple years ago you know plastic was different there were no tariffs uh everyone had a little more fun money or hobby money at least i did so when we were launching kolchak we were also kind of conscious about that we're like let's not do because prisoner wave 2 was huge it was like i think 12 figures or something yeah we're like you know what uh laurel and hardy was was um there were times because of current conditions we were afraid we wouldn't even be able to fulfill um because because of the weirdness with tariffs and all that we're like well if we can navigate modern indie toy making with laurel and hardy and get them through the port and get them in the collector's hands yeah then we'll feel confident kolchak is next and you know we've fulfilled every campaign we've done even laurel and hardy even in these weird times but we were like okay let's be strategic let's not overdo it let's just get one or two really cool variants a cool packaging variant and and you know and then [00:22:58] Speaker 2: down the line who knows yeah some idea for just one that just one what's that i have an idea for one i have one figure one figure that it stands out to me from kolchak from the series richard keel joe oh okay a native american in it oh yeah yeah yeah it's like this this big and he's a scary guy i think he would be a perfect figure and that would be a fun toy it was like diablo or the diablo raw or something like that he was yeah yeah it's a great idea my super unique [00:23:32] Speaker 3: yeah yeah my uh dream kolchak figure would be mr ring do you remember mr ring there's a murderous android who wore hoodie so you couldn't see he was an android i do remember that yeah yeah yeah and so they didn't go over budget on [00:23:46] Speaker 2: makeup right yeah yeah yeah it's really good cheap i mean it's it's it's the reason why we have you on is we you know we we actually do a lot of interviews we do way more interviews that brian could handle sure we put on things that when i see something and i get a lot of messages from different companies and stuff from what they have coming out and i'm a kolchak fan i've been a closer fan for many years it's not something you see every day so no these this is something so we you know we have a discussion and we both saw it and said oh you see the kolchak figures coming out i was like yeah we should get those guys on yeah oh let's talk about it because this is this is it's not an everyday thing it's not [00:24:24] Speaker 1: totally you know that's what we specialize in yeah right yeah i love that laurel and hardy seth too because i oh thank you i've kind of rediscovered them in the last few years i i yeah i liked them a lot when i was a kid and then it you know because i'm i'm i'm pre-internet usually you know i grew up mostly pre-internet uh i don't think about looking things up on like youtube even though i'm on youtube all right but then i thought one day i'm sitting around and i'm like i wonder if laurel and hardy in youtube lo and behold yeah almost everything is all of them yeah so we're watching it i'm like this stuff still holds up this is great yeah they are behind away by that yeah i gotta show off while we're [00:25:02] Speaker 4: talking about them i didn't show you this one we also did them in black and white of course yeah [00:25:08] Speaker 2: that's great oh it's so cool yeah like you're really tapping into nostalgia for a general multiple generations oh yeah but you're really you're you're doing stuff that nobody else would do i i i would [00:25:22] Speaker 4: suspect no one else looked at kolchak as a license we're doing stuff other people are too smart to do [00:25:28] Speaker 2: yes yeah that's i didn't want to say that i heard you i heard you loud no but that's the stuff that [00:25:36] Speaker 3: people crave because totally we don't get anything yeah sure and the really some of this stuff i mean kolchak's very popular and very cool but some of the stuff you really kind of have to take a risk on because like especially in older ip the question is you know there are fans of this there are passionate fans sure but are they the same people who are gonna buy action figures are the same people that collect you know true and we yeah we have to be careful but the advantage of being indie is that i mean when hasbro evaluates are we going to do a toy line uh you know it's like uh they have to cover um you know uh massive buildings in rhode island and in studios in hollywood and they have a lot of overhead and they have to get spider-man they have to get like the big stuff and we are literally our company uh is two dudes and we work out of a garage and it's a garage we already have so you know it's not a lot of overhead and so we can be a little bit leaner a little bit sort of meaner we can take on say if something is like uh gonna appeal to a niche cult fan group like we can afford to do it in a way that hasbro or mattel cannot so yeah we get to occupy that part of the ecosystem you know and i'll add to [00:26:56] Speaker 4: that the reason we get to do that is because of crowdfunding and because the fan communities that come together um and so it's like okay doc and i will put our our money and our skin in the game on a prototype and you know that's a lot of design a lot of work and then it's like okay guys we're like and we have amazing as you maybe have met our amazing pr team you know david and dustin who yes uh and they they get the word out and we say okay you know if you're a fan of kolchak and we know you're out there somewhere do you want you know do you want to make this happen and we've been lucky right doc nancy drew fan said i want to make it happen prisoner fans did the same and now when laurel and hardy fans it's a joy laurel and hardy fans we're talking about age group that have never been on kickstarter you know they they've never we had to literally teach some of our backers how to be our backers but they're so joyous and so fun and and love the figures it was worth it i um while we were talking or while i was rambling to you i looked over and saw my pumpkin head and i couldn't help like monster it's when [00:28:10] Speaker 3: do we get this comic yeah right yeah yeah for real it'd be amazing i got to speak to the nancy drew convention uh after our nancy drew figures came out oh nice and there's i mean they are so lovely and so excited and so receptive um and it's with that kind of joy and support you get from the fan community it's it makes it great to there are kolchak convention i don't know well i'll tell you if [00:28:40] Speaker 1: we get invited to one yeah i've been to a few horror conventions and i gotta tell you there's always kolchak something something it's always there he's like a mainstay he gets a presence yeah you could always count on him and elvira to be a president of horror convention in some way in a picture or [00:29:01] Speaker 2: something i'm just saying the guys who make the figures might want to do a convention too hey [00:29:07] Speaker 3: we might need a third guy if we're gonna host yeah yeah yeah and an extra staff member yeah because [00:29:13] Speaker 2: from this side these two youtube guys we're doing our first comic convention we're running a cool convention in june and it it's comes from this channel and from where we live there's no really good comic convention so we okay we talk with the reigns and we are uh i love that where are you guys located we're in we're in staten island okay yeah that would be good now you guys doing any conventions [00:29:37] Speaker 4: promoting this or i just got back from wondercon and that's why i'm a little goofy yeah i was there for three days uh our friends at big bad toy store invited us to take part because they they were split between two shows atlantic atlanticcon or i toylanta yeah toylanta and wondercon so yeah it was big [00:29:59] Speaker 2: oh my gosh mega con in orlando was huge too there was yeah big conventions people don't know which [00:30:05] Speaker 4: one to attend at this point you know um and then you know next week we can all be bored there'll be nothing to do but exactly um yeah wondercon was great for me because i i for the first time i saw i mean we're hardcore right we go on the internet we look for what kind of toys might be coming out it was fun for me to see more casual people walk up and be like wait laurel and hardy have toys you know and then or oh my god i used to watch that with my grandfather on sunday afternoons and i'm gonna get you know i have to buy one for him and so it was really fun it's almost like a field test um so yeah uh i think too doc and i attend a lot of conventions for our day job and uh you know in animation and then we also just go to we have a great shot here called monster palooza okay it's like a horror convention and monster show and uh i can't wait till we have cool check and we have this you know uh yet to be announced or something so we can be there because if there's one fandom that likes to spend and enjoy things it's the horror fandom so yeah absolutely yes they love merchandise they [00:31:15] Speaker 2: they certainly do i'm saying they we we they we exactly all of us here on this yeah yeah interview yeah that's all right that's good but so you only do you only west coast though you don't you don't [00:31:26] Speaker 3: come out east coast i would love to eventually to new york comic con a few times i'm not uh i wasn't uh [00:31:32] Speaker 2: oh no i was what am i thinking i was at 2025 yeah yeah yeah we were there i'm actually i still was seeing that yeah there you go we go every year brian almost dies every year yeah nearly and then we [00:31:44] Speaker 1: we make it i felt at wonder con it's yeah i'm not like an agoraphobe or anything it's overwhelming there's a bit after a while of shuffling in the crowd yeah after a while i'm like i just can't take [00:31:55] Speaker 4: this new york is especially crowded oh yeah it's very crowded and i i think it's too small that's [00:32:01] Speaker 2: been my opinion for the last couple years there's not enough room to isn't that crazy that javits [00:32:06] Speaker 4: center is not enough it's too there's yeah because years ago they had it in multiple rooms now they [00:32:11] Speaker 2: kind of have compacted into one area yeah it's just it's it's been it's it's been the celebrity area [00:32:17] Speaker 1: takes up a lot of room oh yeah it's a lot of it takes up a lot of room i've noticed in my travels too [00:32:24] Speaker 4: that man the cosplayers in new york go all in they do you're like trying to crowd around like giant cosplays and capes and tentacles and i love it though yeah yeah like a nine foot tall just walking [00:32:39] Speaker 2: around yeah yeah it's just enough so i'm glad to hear you guys are going to shows to promote it because i hope more people you know find out about this and buy it and then you could do the next figure [00:32:50] Speaker 1: and then yeah from there to there and there yeah and then uh i'm trying to think like what figures i [00:32:56] Speaker 2: want from the oh yeah but i don't have bro you're gonna put your order in is that yeah yeah we like [00:33:01] Speaker 1: that i'm gonna make full-on requests right now okay we really like we'll take them we'll take them i want a full line of 1979 salem's lot done yeah get me a david soul action figure immediately if neka hasn't [00:33:18] Speaker 4: already done it and beat us to it we'll get it for you i don't think i have i i bring them up all the time because i love their universal monsters toys so much i always say i'm making toys and still the best toys my favorite in the last decade are the universal monsters from neka because wow they're amazing yeah [00:33:40] Speaker 3: those ultimate figures are really good oh yeah every single one of them yeah yeah uh universal crossover ones from neka those are great i don't immediately i don't immediately those are nice yeah well all of [00:33:54] Speaker 1: those neca ultimates everything they do is is usually stunning yeah they're agreed and staggeringly expensive [00:34:00] Speaker 4: sometimes yeah yeah yeah yeah it adds up i i'm really having to uh you know because i went all in on universal and now that they're getting into some of the hammer stuff i'm like oh i really need it but but but but should i do it you know yeah you own a toy company yeah you should of course that's [00:34:19] Speaker 2: it's research it's research it's research it's the next thing so what so that's you bring us to a good point where what do you guys actually collect like we see a lot of stuff oh yeah yeah what is your we are [00:34:28] Speaker 1: collecting do you have a channel what is your do you have a grail yeah like something that you really want but haven't been able to find really or find within a right like i find new grails if i find [00:34:39] Speaker 4: some you know what what what about you i'm gonna look around oh yeah well uh see a grail that's out [00:34:45] Speaker 3: there that i haven't seen um yeah yeah i guess you know here's the thing battle beasts are so expensive now they really are yeah you know i i there were some that i had that i loved that are that i've lost and i just cannot put the money down to they're just too expensive for the size you get yeah i cannot on ebay and i cannot with anybody who knows what they are so that's if i'm looking at like junk sales or estate sales or like those kinds of places that's what i'm hunting for i'm hunting for battle beasts that i [00:35:22] Speaker 2: don't have to pay the amount that battle beasts are for right yeah yeah what chances two interviews [00:35:26] Speaker 1: in a row we talk about battle beasts i'll be soon mm-hmm yeah we were talking to ed brisson the writer and he was talking about battle beats too oh how funny yeah yeah because he's doing that he's doing a silver hawks comics yeah oh i'm so envious yeah yeah who's he doing that with is that is that he was [00:35:44] Speaker 2: doing it with dynamite dynamite now crossing over with thundercats yeah thunder thunder hawk they're [00:35:50] Speaker 4: gonna call thunder hawks yeah awesome count me in yeah the i think there's a jumbo i want and i can't even remember his name i just discovered him um it's one of the shogun warriors it's the the guy with like kind of the the two he almost like galactus he has like these two red pieces that come out is that ray dean ah man i feel like i should look it up i'm embarrassed but i i've been looking at photos of him and thinking oh i kind of that i think that's something i need in my life so that might be the new grail my grail for a long time was the well of souls play set for raiders of the lost ark yeah for years you got it i finally got one i i got it before the last film came out because i was afraid you know prices might spike or something and i got the most of that line at a toys r us on clearance for like a buck 19 or something a you know a figure when i was a kid and but all these years later i finally got a well of the souls to go with them so yeah that's good you know what i'm always [00:36:53] Speaker 1: thinking i would want to get but i know it's so expensive is they were these large size uh when mcfarland did the movie maniac series yeah like these i i think they were 14 inches yeah and they were the same just blown up right just big they had pinhead and leatherface and all the other ones that they had of the small movie maniacs but they were like big and every time i find them online they're so expensive i can't like i haven't seen them at shows it drives me nuts because a real big pinhead would look just great and that thing was gorgeous yeah really nice yeah i actually i recently got my [00:37:28] Speaker 4: grail and it's sitting right here oh yeah this is a good one this is a good one oh yeah yeah that is a [00:37:38] Speaker 2: good one and you wouldn't believe how cheap it was like we got it at a new store that just opened around here and it was wow wow that's awesome yeah functional and it works and it's it's i just need stickers i ordered stickers for everything and it's you know but you know like you said there's always [00:37:55] Speaker 3: another grail yeah you never finished something i just now you need a new one yeah it was uh it's not necessarily a grail but it's a new acquisition i haven't even gotten it out of the box yet but i will be taken out of the box it is so do you guys know 52 toys in hong kong no they made a xenomorph egg that is wind up and the face hugger pops out oh it's a wind up pop out xenomorph what's what's the name of the company what's the company two toys it's a it's a company they actually did the legacy of lovecraft thanks for this interview i know doc you're really they they believe this is so strange but they have a physical 52 toys has a physical toy store in the mall of georgia in the u.s state of [00:38:43] Speaker 1: georgia yeah weird really i've seen those legacy of lovecraft figures those are great but yeah they're good that's thick looking you see how good yeah it's funny that you showed that because my other grail would have been the big chap uh oh yeah what did you say don't uh don't make me live it things [00:39:01] Speaker 2: were not allowed to talk about on the show what brian sold his original big chapter oh yeah i sold my [00:39:08] Speaker 4: ecto glow ghostbusters on the card in my 20s when i was you know i was young and i needed the money yeah and then i went back you know in my 30s and was like oh i'd kind of like to you know get those for the collection and they were like 600 a piece and oh i prayed i prayed and prayed that hasbro would repro them and they did last year so yeah that took some stress out of my life you guys make toys and [00:39:37] Speaker 2: you just buy toys too yeah that's yeah we have a problem you have your own you have your own toy box you literally could if they don't have the toy you could actually make the toy yeah well that's [00:39:49] Speaker 3: what prisoner was we didn't have one so we made one yeah um i'll tell you this is a good this is the opposite of the big chap ten dollar story uh i uh was just at a i like i was on a road trip you bought a big chap for ten dollars out of this dude named brian and it was like on the internet in the mid 80s no i uh i was at a um i was on a road trip and there was just this roadside convenience store that had weird random stuff in it and it had this carded migo style of um uh of uh jonathan frid uh from barnabas collins from um from dark shadows it's like on card it was like migo style and it was like three dollars and i was like i like dark shadow i mean i i those kind of cloth there's a lot of cloth goods and i i'm not super into that line but it was three bucks and i like it and like i picked it up you know and it was just in a box in my attic for decade or 12 years and then i was going through stuff i needed some space and i was going through stuff and i was like oh wonder what this goes for i got [00:40:57] Speaker 2: a 250 dollars for it on ebay spent three dollars for yeah that's that was awesome that's that's what one of the things i love most about toys like yeah as you see i have a lot of and you see this you see this this is all just covered in toys too same all around me is yeah filled with different toys and yeah same yeah i i just this has been this has been a lot of fun there's a lot of fun this is like a pharaoh's tomb yeah sizing up buried here at some point so what before we go and and talk offline what do you want to tell people to do to go to buy oh yeah find everything we do uh okay well this is uh this is coming out when [00:41:40] Speaker 3: it's coming out uh they could go to wanderingplanettoys.com uh check out what we got on offer we got our store in there you can get some of uh our uh previous lines in there uh if you are looking for coal check specifically you can do late pledges to the kickstarter you can go through backer kit just search kolchak figure uh and uh probably by the time this comes out also on our website i assume or at least there'll be a link on our website so i'll put a link in the description so you can click right [00:42:09] Speaker 2: on the in the link there will be to everything that you need to do to go there so yeah yeah awesome and [00:42:14] Speaker 4: usually after we fund uh big bad toy store is good about they reach out and they say all right you're making the toy let's let's put in an order so you know customers might be able to you know find something there uh in a couple months uh which you know we couldn't do unless we backed it first so we're so so thankful to the backers uh and then we're very active on instagram uh for social media because we you know we like posting toy photos we like looking at toy photos um we have an insane backlog of cool laurel and hardy photos from all around the world i don't know why that fandom in particular was like here is photos i mean uh one of our friends and backers of the account took photos of our figures with the actual fezes from sons of the desert and i'm so moved props wow yeah yeah stan and ollie wore and i've been so moved by it i haven't even been able to post it yet because i was like that is so awesome that's really emotional yeah so say hi on instagram go out and buy all the [00:43:19] Speaker 2: figures yeah yeah yeah pull jack yeah nancy drew sold out right nancy drew's not available oh you [00:43:28] Speaker 4: know what we got some we got some we uh we they did gangbusters at wondercon this weekend actually because i had a box in my garage of what was left of stock and i brought it and put it out and i was it was so cool to see people that like minds were blown um but yeah so we talked uh to our fulfillment guys and we dug out remaining stock and so yeah our web store has nancy drew right now good awesome [00:43:52] Speaker 2: there you go that is really cool you can get everything so but maybe not for long so okay yeah it's true that as of today as of well after the interview i'll be uh yeah this has been a lot of fun it's not for us too we need action figure guys so yeah go out and buy all the figures and keep an eye out see what's coming next because yeah yeah yeah keep an eye on this you won't know but we might in like yeah they're gonna know we will in two seconds thank you guys should be and brian will sell it to you for 10 bucks yes there you go if you have a big chance he will give it up people say it still hurts [00:44:29] Speaker 1: it sure i i hear you man it should hurt but i bought a lot of comics with that ten dollars ten dollars [00:44:36] Speaker 2: thank you guys i'm sure we will talk again thank you everyone yeah good and recording
