This offer is for Australia only. Click, click, clap. What's going on guys? I'm Simple Simon and today is the final vintage and modern toy fair of the year. For those who don't keep up, it is the premiere show when it comes to vintage toys and is obviously a very much a traditional toy fair. So I'm very excited. However, I have a $50 budget today. And obviously I'm not going to spend that just for the sake of spending it. Obviously if I see something that I really want, we'll pick it up. But yeah, I'm going with Jin and Roy. We're becoming a little bit of a motley crew, wouldn't you say? And I'm sure those guys will probably pick up some stuff. So I'm sure I'll be able to show you that. And hopefully it will bump into some familiar faces and hopefully it'll be a good time. So let's do that. Is that the boys? We're here at the garage door. Mate, it is so early. Anyway, I'm going to go. Fight! Hunt! A dog! Quick shout out to my Siminions. Your support means the world. And if you want exclusive members only videos and exclusive emojis, hit the join button to find out more. But always remember, your membership is not required. The best way to support the channel is by liking and commenting on videos. All right, some pre-Toy Fair shenanigans here. Jin decided to show up at my place at 7.30. And these guys don't even have Early Bird. Early Bird was sold out. Yeah, it was. So these guys aren't getting into 9.30. We were late to the game. Late to the game. We're just going to light it up. So the lesson here is get your tickets for these things early. Because if you're getting too late, you might miss out on Early Bird. I know, it's definitely happened to me. I've missed out on the show completely sometimes. Because I didn't get tickets in time. So anyway, we're here with our coffees. Look, what did you get? I just got a standard latte. It's a tall. How can they call this a tall? Yeah. Wouldn't you call this a tall?
[00:02:06] Speaker 2: What do they call that? That's called a grande. No, no, no. This is a grande. This is a venti. This is a venti. I wanted filters. Which is strange because venti in Italian means 20. Maybe there's 20 shots of coffee in there.
[00:02:19] Speaker 1: Before we cut to the Toy Fair, can we show some appreciation for the singlet here? Wow. You guys let us know in the comments, what is this singlet? We're here at the event and the line is different. The line normally goes that way. But this time, they've gone this way. So far back, Nick.
[00:02:43] Speaker 3: Hey.
[00:02:44] Speaker 1: So far back.
[00:02:45] Speaker 3: So far back.
[00:02:46] Speaker 1: Hey. It's interesting that you're going this way with the line.
[00:02:49] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[00:02:50] Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on, dude?
[00:02:51] Speaker 4: Good to see you.
[00:02:52] Speaker 1: You too, mate. You too. Did you just get here too?
[00:02:53] Speaker 5: Just literally around. Excellent. Saw you and thought I'd come and say hello.
[00:02:56] Speaker 1: Excellent. Excellent. What a day it's going to be. I'm sorry for interrupting. That's okay. That's okay. This guy is well. What happens if you go bald? What happens to your brand? I'll just have to use Photoshop to get rid of the hair. I'll just be a circle with eyes and a face.
[00:03:11] Speaker 6: Like an emoji, really. Yeah. Pretty much. Pretty much. That's the conversations you have in line. You wonder what happens when you lose your hair. And that's what happens. What are you going to do? I've already lost half my hair. What are you talking about?
[00:03:26] Speaker 1: Great hair to hair. Oh, thanks. On the hunt for anything in particular today?
[00:03:30] Speaker 2: I'm thinking of getting back into retro games. I used to have a PlayStation Portable back in the day. I'm thinking of getting another one.
[00:03:38] Speaker 1: The PlayStation Portable was pretty good, man. Yeah.
[00:03:40] Speaker 2: I had the originals, so maybe the Vita, which they say is a better resolution and a bit faster and better gameplay. So I'm thinking maybe that. But I want to get it modded so you can get, like, an emulator or something. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:03:53] Speaker 7: What about you, Roy? I want to check out anything Hellraiser, of course. Nothing in particular. I don't think I have the money to do another replica this time, but we'll walk around, have a look, see what's around.
[00:04:07] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[00:04:07] Speaker 7: Tickles my fancy.
[00:04:08] Speaker 1: All right. I'm going to go see where I can find for 50 bucks. All right. Get ready. The Vintage and Modern Toy Fair is here today. And everyone's excited. Shout out to my homie there for the thumbs up. And look at this early bird line. These are the keenest of collectors. And this is what I love to see. Shows supporting other shows. I know there's a lot of shows in Melbourne, but at the end of the day, the more shows, the better it is for the collectors. You can pick and choose which ones you want to go to. But I love them all, so I'll be at as many of those shows as humanly possible. Here we are in the hall. Only cars today.
[00:04:50] Speaker 6: No toys. No toys. Next one, I'll bring some toys.
[00:04:54] Speaker 1: You would think this would be a good show to bring toys, Jack.
[00:04:56] Speaker 6: It would.
[00:04:57] Speaker 1: I feel like you're unprepared.
[00:04:59] Speaker 6: No, there's only four TCG vendors today because Card4's on. So, if anyone's going to buy it.
[00:05:04] Speaker 1: Do you think, though, at a show like this, especially if there's another card show on, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to bring toys?
[00:05:10] Speaker 8: I'm working on two hours sleep. Okay.
[00:05:12] Speaker 1: Look at this guy. It's not even five minutes in. Six minutes in, he's got, like, two pickups already. Show us what you've got.
[00:05:18] Speaker 8: I've got three, actually. Three? Yeah. Oi. Nick Sky. Board game.
[00:05:23] Speaker 1: Is this guy up, mate?
[00:05:27] Speaker 8: That's awesome.
[00:05:28] Speaker 6: That's awesome. I can't even have a movie. I can't believe that's a classic movie.
[00:05:31] Speaker 1: Did you know they just released the comic book series of Black Starfinder?
[00:05:33] Speaker 6: Yes. Yes.
[00:05:36] Speaker 1: Too modern for you, though. Way too modern for me. Did you see the plastic bag? I haven't even been around the corner yet.
[00:05:43] Speaker 8: No, it's... It's right in your face.
[00:05:47] Speaker 1: What plastic bag? Look. You'll see it. You'll see it. Keep looking. Keep looking. No, no. Keep looking. Keep looking. There's a plastic bag. You need to get it for old, mate.
[00:06:02] Speaker 6: Old, mate. I literally just bought a Brash's T-shirt.
[00:06:05] Speaker 1: Did you? Yeah. Oh, slip, slip, slip.
[00:06:08] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[00:06:08] Speaker 1: The T-shirt's starting to become iconic.
[00:06:11] Speaker 6: Yeah, well, that... Yeah. I hope so.
[00:06:13] Speaker 1: Because I asked myself to change my name. My mate, Roy, out the front, he's got a pretty iconic T-shirt today. Oh, he's got a singlet.
[00:06:18] Speaker 6: Oh, not the Arnie one. The Arnie one was cool.
[00:06:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll see him today. You should know.
[00:06:24] Speaker 6: I mean, they've got competition.
[00:06:26] Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, Roy's T-shirt game's pretty strong. It's pretty strong. But you're more like the vintage guy. His is like 80s nostalgia. I mean, that's still vintage. It's pretty good. Wait until you see it, man. It's pretty good. Anyway, I'll catch up with you. Okay. All right, so the early bird session is full steam ahead. Where should we start? But how about right where I stand at Phil's table from Out of Time Collectibles? I feel like it's been a while since I filmed Phil's table. Look at that. 90210. I feel like Phil's done a few interstate shows recently I've seen. But yeah, it does feel like a long time since I've seen him. He had some really cool watches here. And I couldn't believe my eyes. He had not one, but two of the Operation Aliens watches that I've been after for so long. And he had them at a great price. $35 is great for that. But if you do watch my videos regularly, you'll know that I recently got gifted one of these watches from my buddy Alien and Predator Collection on Instagram. So shout out to Stuart as well. But Out of Time Collectibles gets everybody. Especially if you're a vintage collector. You cannot help but stop and look at all the amazing vintage goodness that they've got. It takes you back to another time. Look at this Barbie boat. Forget the Ferrari. That Barbie boat is pretty sweet. And then these vintage toys belong to the Toll Toy Kid, Will, who runs the event. He had something at his table which was a blast from the past. This dinosaur here, as soon as I saw it, it just brought back the craziest memory that hasn't been thought about for 40 years. I used to have that dinosaur when I was a kid. So that was a nice little throwback there. And then next we're going to tune in with Brandon from Gamer's Closet whose table was looking pretty schmick. Dude, your table has never looked better. This looks awesome, man. Thank you. How good is this? Holy crap.
[00:08:23] Speaker 5: Bunch of toys.
[00:08:24] Speaker 1: Wow. It's not games in the closet. There's been toys in the closet and Pokemon cards. And Pokemon cards. There's been Pokemon cards in the closet this whole time. Wow, this looks awesome, man. How long did it take you to set this up? This seems time consuming. An hour and a half. An hour and a half? That's alright. That's alright. You should have said two hours.
[00:08:44] Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. Shut up.
[00:08:49] Speaker 1: Now, I know a lot of people just see Brandon and think, oh, that's that guy with the games and, you know, with two of everything. But he actually has tons of toys. He's always had tons of toys. But this time he left all of the games at home and focused purely on toys. And he's got things from every era, from vintage to modern. I'd never seen a Tamagotchi that looked like this. So that was a nice little surprise there. And then the table next to him. These guys always have a great range of carded vintage figures. And then this table belongs to Michael. He specializes in Japanese vintage. I forgot the name of his table. I remember many vintage and modern toy fairs ago, I asked him to name his table. He gave me a name, but I forgot. I remember it had Kaiju, I think, in the title. But great to see Michael. He always has great stuff as well. And then we got Vintage Sky, who might have the most colorful vintage table. She specializes in... I don't want to say girly things, because I'm sure plenty of guys like this stuff too, right? But this Karomi doll here looked pretty cute. I thought that'd be something that Sarah would like. But Sarah's kind of grown out of Karomi a little bit. But there's always a great range of Polly Pockets here and dolls, My Little Pony, you name it. Vintage Sky has got it. Now, a lot of people always tell me that they live vicariously through me. But my hauls in my recent videos haven't been that impressive. So I've been living vicariously through the community. So let's check out our first haul. It's Nick here, who you might recognize. Or you might not recognize, actually. Because last time I spoke to him, he looked like someone you do recognize. Anyway, what'd you get, mate? So early in the day, mate. We're not even 20 minutes in.
[00:10:24] Speaker 6: So two still unpacked the mask figures.
[00:10:27] Speaker 1: Mask stuff is really hard to find. That's really cool.
[00:10:30] Speaker 6: There's a couple of loose. Another, the mask figure.
[00:10:33] Speaker 1: Oh, man, mask figures are so good. That's cool. And one of the dream figures. Nice. Very nice, mate. That's a very productive 20 minutes, mate.
[00:10:47] Speaker 9: Yeah. Very good. Thanks for sharing that.
[00:10:49] Speaker 1: 20 minutes. You got anything yet? No. Mate, I just spoke to a dude. You had 20 minutes, mate. He had a whole bag full of stuff, mate. All kinds of stuff.
[00:10:57] Speaker 3: What kind of stuff?
[00:10:58] Speaker 1: You had like vintage mask figures and stuff. Well, I've got something for you that you hopefully will like. It's missing one accessory, but it's got so many accessories. You won't need it. If you're going to take him out of the box, which I hope you will, I hope this doesn't go into storage. No. Hopefully, hopefully you'll, you'll like it. Oh. Yeah. Huh?
[00:11:17] Speaker 3: Nice.
[00:11:18] Speaker 1: I, I recently, I recently upgraded mine to the double pack with John Connor.
[00:11:22] Speaker 3: Oh, right. Okay.
[00:11:23] Speaker 1: So I was like, why don't I need this guy anymore?
[00:11:25] Speaker 3: Yeah. That'll go well with my, uh, Terminator head. That's right. That's right. Hmm. Very well. Have you got any Mafex figures? Yes. Have you? What do you got? Yeah. Astro Boy. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mafex are the best. Yeah. They are good.
[00:11:39] Speaker 1: Number one. All right. When there are collectible shoes on the table, you know, the Kings of Geelong are in town. Troy Story. These guys are super popular. Uh, you usually only see them at the Geelong comic and toy fair, but they have been recently traveling down for the vintage and modern toy fair too. They're super popular in Geelong. And, uh, obviously they got the name from toy story. So they got to represent, right? Uh, you got Bruce from Back Issue Comics here with his vintage cards. He actually had some cards on the top of that shelf, which I'd never seen before, which were these Starship Troopers sealed in box cards. Check that out. How cool is that? And then already I went down my first aisle and thought it was time for a simple Simon panning shot. This is still the early bird, but it was just as the 930 crew was coming in. You got Daniel here who normally has a table full of wrestling, which he still did, but this time he got multiple tables, he had shelves and he brought all kinds of things, including rarities like this Kinder Surprise figure. That figure there with a long neck, he said it was a Lego branded figure, which I'd never seen. He actually had a ton of cool things I'd never seen and he was kind enough to share some with me. I've never seen those either. Oh, you got all of them.
[00:12:59] Speaker 5: I've got those.
[00:13:00] Speaker 1: Oh, wow. They're sick. So those two go together, and then these are the fighting arms.
[00:13:06] Speaker 3: Wow, they're cool as.
[00:13:08] Speaker 10: So Neo and office.
[00:13:11] Speaker 1: Wow, I've never seen those.
[00:13:12] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[00:13:13] Speaker 1: That's awesome.
[00:13:14] Speaker 10: Yeah.
[00:13:17] Speaker 1: That's cool.
[00:13:18] Speaker 10: I had those two, but I'm keeping them.
[00:13:24] Speaker 1: The thing about the Vintage and Modern Toy Fair is that they have so many vendors specializing in vintage, and there's just something different with vintage toys. It gives you that feel. You know, I always say if you have someone who doesn't even collect toys, you can bring them to the Vintage and Modern Toy Fair. And I guarantee you that they'll see something that hits their nostalgia button. Yo, shout out to SizzDog. Wait, hold up. Do you guys feel that? Show me something cool at your table.
[00:14:02] Speaker 8: Something cool. I'll show you something cool I just bought.
[00:14:04] Speaker 1: Oh, something. Yeah, that's even better.
[00:14:05] Speaker 8: Not even for sale. Not even? Not for sale. It's under my table.
[00:14:08] Speaker 1: The best things are always hiding under the table.
[00:14:10] Speaker 8: Sorry, really, but it's... Oh, wow. We've got this bad boy. Oh, wow. Spent too much money on it. How... Who did you get it off? Not disclosing. Someone at the front table. I'm not going to need him. I guess he's got all the goods. Very cool. That's what he's at. Australian. Australian release. Australian exclusive. Back in the day, 100 bucks. I'll eat.
[00:14:32] Speaker 10: I'm going to guess it costs more than 100 bucks now.
[00:14:35] Speaker 8: Just a little bit. Just a little bit.
[00:14:39] Speaker 1: Hey, look at that. There's that PS Vita that Jin's after, but he did have a $400 price tag, and I knew Jin wasn't dropping $400 to start his retro games journey, but one day he's going to have to. You've got Shane Jackson here, now known as Shane's Toys. I still think Shane's Toy Universe is a better name, but he's moving up in the world and doing new shows like Collectorama, which is coming up in a couple of weeks. I actually, I think, have a giveaway coming. Follow me on Instagram, because I believe I've got two tickets to give away to the Collectorama event. These ladies here have the dolls. I've been saying all year that the doll presence has grown a lot this year. In the last couple of months, I haven't noticed them as much, but there was definitely plenty of dolls at this event. And then you've got Yatch from Thrilled Toys. His table's always looking great, but he actually had something that I hadn't even seen before in person. I knew they existed, but no one's got them except Yatch. You've got these in. Yeah. No one has these.
[00:15:37] Speaker 5: Trying to beat the rush.
[00:15:39] Speaker 1: Wow. All right, that's on my radar. Because I remember when the movie came out, I was going in because I saw everyone in America selling these, and no one had them here.
[00:15:51] Speaker 6: I saw it on the list. You know who has it? Oh, I love it.
[00:15:55] Speaker 1: Thrilled Toys, baby. Awesome. Is it early enough?
[00:16:01] Speaker 5: How you doing?
[00:16:01] Speaker 1: Still the good shit at the table? Sold a lot, mate. Sold a lot already? Oh, look at this empty shelf.
[00:16:06] Speaker 5: Yeah, there you go. Hey.
[00:16:09] Speaker 1: These guys are exclusive to this show. Look at that Megatron. That's pretty sick. How you doing, man? You doing well?
[00:16:20] Speaker 11: Good, mate.
[00:16:21] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
[00:16:22] Speaker 1: Good. Good start to the morning?
[00:16:25] Speaker 2: Going all right. Definitely. Sorry. No, you're good. Sorry.
[00:16:29] Speaker 1: What are these cars? They're different. Oh, Baywatch cards. Game of Thrones.
[00:16:35] Speaker 3: I've never seen families before. Thanks.
[00:16:40] Speaker 1: All right, so these guys here are exclusive to the Vintage Mon Toy Fair, and they always bring the best stuff. And if you don't get there quick enough, they will sell out. Look how cool this Thundercats book is. I guarantee you that's sold. The art on that cover is amazing. And then this table here had some vintage cards from some TV shows. Niche cards, we call them. Smallville. And I'm pretty sure a lot of sci-fi nerds have told me that Babylon 5 is the greatest sci-fi show ever made. And a lot of other nerds have said that Angelina Jolie is the best Lara Croft ever made. Hey, if you guys know a lot about G1 Transformers, let me know. How many versions of that Megatron have been made? Obviously, I would love to have the vintage original one day, but how many reissues are there? And how do I know the difference between them all? Let me know in the comments. Now, this table here, I didn't recognize these guys, and they had some amazing stuff. Look at these toy collector boxes at the top there. Ninja Turtles and Dick Tracy. I've never seen them before. They are awesome. And they also had this Dick Tracy figure at a sensational price. 35 bucks for that is a killer. Good. Do you guys have a giant Nintendo controller? Um, I believe so. I saw you waving around before. I was like, that thing is awesome. How good.
[00:17:59] Speaker 6: There's also a Street Fighter stand-in.
[00:18:03] Speaker 1: Where is it?
[00:18:04] Speaker 6: Over there on the corner.
[00:18:08] Speaker 1: All right, Nexus Toys and Collectibles. These guys have been doing it for years now, and you'll often see them at shows with their retro video games. But the Street Fighter promotional stuff that we're talking about was this Red Bull sign. How cool is that? And they even had a copy of Maniac Mansion. That looks pretty minty. I only need the box. I've got the game, but my box is completely cooked, so I'd like to get just the couple one day in minty condition. We'll see if I can find it. You've got their retro consoles here, of course. They were showing me their Nintendo Lego, which has this little side compartment with a secret level. Did you guys know that? I did not know that. And look! They even got the biggest range of Game Gear games I've ever seen at any toy fair. These things are hard to find. Next time we're going to get a bit more cash, I need to go through their Game Gear games. All right, I think it's about time to check out some more hauls. So next is one of my channel members, Greg, making his debut. Greg, say hi. Hi. What did you get, mate? Look at this. It's a bit of a mixture of stuff.
[00:19:07] Speaker 4: Got it, it's a winter. Nice. The repro party van that won't come out of the bag again. Wait, is that the OG? No. It's like 2013.
[00:19:15] Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, it's still becoming vintage soon. Aren't we all?
[00:19:21] Speaker 4: We need a mask. Yep. A bit of a...
[00:19:23] Speaker 1: Oh, nice. Can I grab it? Can I grab it? Oh, dude, I've always wanted one of these. It's hard to... I've seen a few that they're always seem to be missing that.
[00:19:34] Speaker 4: I picked up one from Lobos from Mate and made it to get a pre-pro cover and the knobs.
[00:19:39] Speaker 1: So all you've got to do is display it this way and they'll never know.
[00:19:42] Speaker 4: The Harry and the Hendersons?
[00:19:44] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I remember those. I remember the videos, though. Predator 2, very cool. Oh, wow, yeah, cool. Oh, was that the guy in the corner there? Yeah, he had heaps of... I haven't seen him before. He's got heaps of cool stuff. Nice. Yeah, that's cool. Nice art.
[00:19:59] Speaker 4: Repro Randall.
[00:20:00] Speaker 1: Very cool. And then who's the last one? Batman. Which Batman is he?
[00:20:03] Speaker 4: I needed a bane for it to go with my 118 scale figure. So I think that's Crosses' ass mark.
[00:20:09] Speaker 1: I don't even remember. That's a bale. That's a good face, Scott. I think that's meant to be like...
[00:20:14] Speaker 4: Batman Unmasked or something.
[00:20:15] Speaker 1: Wow, that's a good one.
[00:20:17] Speaker 4: And then it's always tradition to get a loose stormtrooper in the army building.
[00:20:23] Speaker 9: Very cool.
[00:20:23] Speaker 4: And I saw this variant of... I don't know what Boba's doing there. Oh, wow. I also picked up a Boba Fett foam standings if I hold a lolly bowl.
[00:20:35] Speaker 1: Yep. Are you done for the day or are you off to Lobos now?
[00:20:38] Speaker 4: I might hand it to Aaron's. This guy. I'm bunching up a bunch of stuff. I take it to Aaron's and say, get some trade. Yeah. Collect enough stuff and do Yarraville.
[00:20:48] Speaker 1: Oh, you're going to sell at Yarraville?
[00:20:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, mine.
[00:20:50] Speaker 1: All right. Billy, if you're watching this, get my boy Greg on there. All right? Cheers, man. It better be... Is the juice worth the squeeze? Let's go. It's definitely worth the squeeze. All right. You might have seen it. I might have seen it. Yes. I did see it. He had... Oh, he's already sold one. He's got two. Someone... I've been after this for the longest time. Who knew Phil had two? But I had someone give one to me recently. Ah. It's an Operation Aliens one too. So see the logo there? I know. That's why I saw it. And I was like, I have to come in. Dave knows. Dave knows Simple Simon Law. I do. I do. I wanted to help you out.
[00:21:22] Speaker 9: It never came out like that shot.
[00:21:23] Speaker 1: No. No. It never came out. There's... People... There's a rumor that a pilot came out, but it's false. There was like a storyboard thing made up and that's it. But that's a bad...
[00:21:31] Speaker 8: I had a very taste for that as well. Yeah.
[00:21:33] Speaker 1: Good price too, mate. Good price. It is a good price. 35 bucks. Mate, I would have bought two to wear one. There you go. That's what you should have done.
[00:21:41] Speaker 5: Especially that it wraps the tail. It's good, huh? Wraps around the wrist. Yeah.
[00:21:46] Speaker 1: Show us your... Oh, mate. Free feet. Oh, you bought that off Michael.
[00:21:51] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[00:21:52] Speaker 1: Very cool.
[00:21:53] Speaker 5: First Planet of Apes in comics. 20 bucks is a good price. No? It is. It is. But I didn't pay them. Of course not. Of course not. Yeah. I'll probably... It's got a crack, so I'm going to get it re-cracked and re-holded. It is a pretty old... It's an old slab.
[00:22:08] Speaker 1: Slab, yeah. So it should do well. I've got the Newton version.
[00:22:13] Speaker 5: Ah. Excellent. No poster there. No. Well, there you go. Very nice. First Planet of the Apes. Very happy to pick that one.
[00:22:19] Speaker 1: Very nice. Okay. Diecast. Diecast, is it?
[00:22:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
[00:22:24] Speaker 1: Very cool. What else do we get? Talking to Mick again.
[00:22:29] Speaker 9: Oh, is that Freddy?
[00:22:34] Speaker 1: No. What is it? That's from The Thing. I haven't seen The Thing.
[00:22:39] Speaker 3: You really need to go and watch me.
[00:22:41] Speaker 1: Maybe we should go see it at the Astor together.
[00:22:43] Speaker 3: It's on next week. Is it? Yeah. There you go. Double feature with American Werewolves in London.
[00:22:51] Speaker 1: Is that everything so far?
[00:22:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much. It's, yeah.
[00:22:55] Speaker 1: There's a lot of new tables. Like this table, have you ever seen this table here?
[00:22:58] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's where I got it from.
[00:22:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, they're good. Yeah. A lot of good stuff there. All right. We're keeping it moving. This stuff here belongs to Rod, that Aussie collector. Normally brings a lot of modern stuff. He actually brought a ton of vintage to this show. Rod has maybe one of the craziest collections you'll ever see. So check him out on Instagram and you'll have your mind blown away. Cool Rocketeer stretchy figure there, or bendables, I think it says there. Some vintage diecasts, which you don't see as often these days, but I'm sure they're still around. Plenty of Star Wars and that Warhammer figure looks pretty cool. And the place was starting to fill up quick, which I love seeing. And lots of new faces as well. Some more diecasts here, more on the modern side, paired with some old anime statues there. And some more dolls. Now, if you guys attended this event, please let me know in the comments. What did you pick up? Let me know your haul in the comments. And if you didn't get a chance to attend the event, let me know. What have you seen so far in these table shots that you would have picked up? There's Nathan and Evan. Hi, guys. You don't even have comics? Oh, look. What is that? Holy shit. That is awesome. Wow. My friend today here, he's wearing the singlet. Did you see him? Yeah, yeah. That's hilarious. And he hides them. Warriors down under. He hides his warriors coming behind the counter. I'm not graded. That's okay. That's okay. Look at that. I don't think I've got this cover. I've got the photo cover, which is the one I bought off you.
[00:24:35] Speaker 5: Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes.
[00:24:36] Speaker 1: That's a good one too. That's the A cover. I think that's the A cover. Scarface, that's a good book. And that's issue two. I've got the, I don't know. I think I bought that at Yarraville off Billy. All right. So I know there's a lot of people out there that only collect things that are movie related. Movie related collectibles. And if you're one of those people, then Nicholas from Warriors Down Under is the man to see. Now his comic book range is so unique. It's pretty much all movie related. And these books are super hard to find. Like if you don't pre-order these from the comic shop, you ain't getting them. Because most comic shops don't get these for the shelves. So you can't just walk in and get them. That Jeepers Creepers book, I've never seen that. That is so damn cool. Walking Dead, that one's a little bit more common. But yeah, if you don't pre-order these from your shops, especially these days, you're most likely not getting it. Unless you want to order it off eBay from America and pay $40, $50 to ship it here as well. But you can get it right here at Warriors Down Under. A number of my Warriors collectibles are from Nicholas. Now he also has a great range of cards, including some super rare ones. He's got this Star Wars C-3PO card that's been recalled. Which makes me wonder, what does this 3-CPO card have that's so controversial?
[00:25:51] Speaker 5: Interaction. So what they did, they called a picnic and they did some new ones.
[00:26:00] Speaker 1: You wanted to find Warriors Down Under so you could buy Pokemon cards. Is that what you're doing here? Yeah, very much so. How cool is this? That is very cool. Very impressive. Checking in with Mick again. He just spent $300. Holy shit on that little thing. Is that meant to be Carb... Oh!
[00:26:25] Speaker 3: Carbinoid card. So why is it so hard to get? Is it because... Last 17. Last 17? Last 17. Star Wars figures. And... I look forward to go.
[00:26:36] Speaker 1: Before you complete the whole thing?
[00:26:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, before I complete the whole thing.
[00:26:39] Speaker 1: Have you seen those display case that, um, Drac's Toys makes?
[00:26:44] Speaker 3: Yes. Yes. That'll look good in your room. I would love one. Hey, Drac.
[00:26:50] Speaker 1: Hook up my boy Mick.
[00:26:51] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[00:26:51] Speaker 1: Give him a good price. All right, we've got Tom Flying Solo here at Gateway Comics and Manga. Get well soon, B. Get well soon. I do have to tell you, though, I feel like I'm getting sick. I've got that feeling in my throat. I really hope I don't get sick. Anyway, this is your gateway to comics and manga. The most unique reads can be found right here at Gateway Comics and Manga. So, I'd finally completed the main hall and time to check out the back room, as I call it. What do you guys call this room? I call it the back room. Don't forget to go there. Apparently, some people don't even realize it's there, but there's lots of great stuff in here, too. Had a really good chat to the dude at this table. He had some great stuff, but one thing in particular that struck up the conversation was this Hoist Gracie UFC figure. I used to collect these figures from Jax. I'd never seen the Hoist Gracie one, so we had a good old chat about the good old days of UFC, the early days. And then right next to him, he had this gentleman here who had a bunch of loose figures, and he was cutting deals. He was like, everything's negotiable. Look how cheap it is already. He had one figure set that was $160. My friend said, how much for this? And he said, $50. I was like, that's like a massive discount. All you had to do was ask, and he would provide. Now, this Han Solo figure's pretty good. I don't know why he's got a lightsaber in there, though. Did Han Solo ever have a lightsaber? Not from my memory. Right next door here, you've got some more Marvel Legends again, and some Black Series, some Joe. Lots of great figures there. And then this table had the Crow figure from Trick or Treat. I've definitely been eyeing off this figure for a while. And then I watched a video unboxing, and it didn't impress me that much. Now, not to say it's not a good figure. I think for an action figure collector who likes articulation, it's not great. But as just a display piece, it is a really good-looking figure. But not for me, because I've got the Mezco 112 Crow figure. But if you want the comic book version of the Crow, you can get it right there at Blueberry Hill Jumbo. Making only his second table appearance. He debuted at the Monster Size. So fitting, since he specializes in Godzilla and all things Japanese. And also, if you collect Japanese collectibles, if there's anything you want, he does visit Japan regularly, and he can actually source things for you. So his table also looks top-notch there. Now, you wouldn't believe it. Well, if you watch my videos a lot, you probably would believe it. But I did that thing again. You know that thing I do where I think I'm recording, but I'm not? And then when I think I'm not recording, I am? So yes, and I'm not even doing a good job. Where's the doncam? Where's the doncam? Oh, there's nearly got some doncam. Where's the doncam? You're not even doing a good job at this. There you go. Now, it's been a while since I spoke to Charlie from Bulldog Comics on camera anyway. I think he thinks that I'm mad at him, but I'm not. I love Charlie from Bulldog Comics. So let's tune in with Charlie. Charlie, have you... did you change... did you update your logo?
[00:29:55] Speaker 5: I did, mate. I did it about two months ago.
[00:29:58] Speaker 1: There you go, mate. There you go. Moving up in the world.
[00:30:00] Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I haven't. Apparently, um... By using AI, I'm now being BlackBand.
[00:30:04] Speaker 1: Yeah. People don't love it.
[00:30:06] Speaker 5: No.
[00:30:06] Speaker 1: Just so everyone knows, I'm not anti. I just don't use it. I mean, I try to avoid using it anyway.
[00:30:11] Speaker 5: The first time I tried it, I was just mucking around with it, and you saw my old logo. I thought, oh, I'll do a new logo for Bulldog Comics. I thought, wow. And it just really popped. I like it.
[00:30:22] Speaker 1: It's pretty mind-blowing, especially for old people, right?
[00:30:24] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[00:30:26] Speaker 1: Show us what you got, mate.
[00:30:28] Speaker 6: Oh, there's too much to show.
[00:30:29] Speaker 1: What do you mean there's too much to show?
[00:30:30] Speaker 6: There's so much...
[00:30:31] Speaker 1: Show us the board game you got. Wheel of Fortune. Oh, my God.
[00:30:35] Speaker 6: Tony Barber.
[00:30:35] Speaker 1: I served him at JB one back in the day.
[00:30:37] Speaker 6: What did he buy?
[00:30:38] Speaker 1: I can't remember. Kamal's greatest hits. I just gave him great customer service. He was a great guy. He really was a nice guy. Yeah, absolutely. How do you know he gave him great customer service? Because, mate, that's what I do. I'm known for top-notch customer service. Marvin the Martian. Yeah, he's my favourite Looney Tunes character. He's my favourite, too. That's great. What was this? This is a great figure. Yeah, it's not the same. It looks great. It looks great on card.
[00:30:59] Speaker 6: Yeah, it looks fantastic.
[00:31:01] Speaker 1: Very good.
[00:31:02] Speaker 6: Robocop 3.
[00:31:03] Speaker 1: Oh, look at this guy with the games. You're not going to play this, are you?
[00:31:08] Speaker 6: No. It's my Robocop shelf.
[00:31:11] Speaker 1: Robocop shelf.
[00:31:12] Speaker 6: Lars Starfighter.
[00:31:13] Speaker 1: Shout out to Phil.
[00:31:14] Speaker 6: Yes. Out of time. Always a pleasure. My choice back for Lars.
[00:31:20] Speaker 1: Very cool, very cool.
[00:31:21] Speaker 6: And I've got more wrestling figures.
[00:31:22] Speaker 1: Eddie Guerrero.
[00:31:24] Speaker 6: Yes.
[00:31:25] Speaker 1: Light cheat still. X-Pack. Yes. Look at me, wrestling guy. Let's go. China. Yes. The 8th Wonder of the World. Garfield. Boba. Boba T. More Robocop. More Robocop. Wow. Where's this Robocop shelf coming from?
[00:31:43] Speaker 6: There's two shelves there. I talked to a great range there. Wow. And I think D has the two movie cups that I bought. Movie cups is my other thing, board games.
[00:31:52] Speaker 1: I've got the little three and three quarter Robocop vintage. I lost it on the move. I don't know where it is.
[00:31:58] Speaker 12: Maybe I stole it.
[00:31:59] Speaker 1: You might have.
[00:32:00] Speaker 12: No, I got, we got separated, me and Bennett. So here I am.
[00:32:03] Speaker 1: You got separated. Tucked away in the side. Is it, did you get separated or have you cut yourself loose?
[00:32:08] Speaker 12: I still prefer to be with him.
[00:32:10] Speaker 1: You're flying solo lately I've seen.
[00:32:12] Speaker 12: Yeah. Well, we, I booked the room after. So I was lucky to get this space. But look, more, a second shelf. A second shelf. It's the first time you've seen me where I've had two shelves.
[00:32:22] Speaker 1: If you had to show one thing from your table to represent, what would it be today?
[00:32:26] Speaker 12: $150 for the whole set of Thundersword, all of it, all six. And I still have it. Some guys, just like, I cannot believe you have it here at that price. I'm like, yes, buy it. And he didn't.
[00:32:37] Speaker 1: And if people see this, can they reach out to you on the socials?
[00:32:41] Speaker 12: Yes, TMNT Nerds is my best form of contact. What about your Instagram? I don't really use Instagram, but if someone messaged me.
[00:32:48] Speaker 1: You're on there. I see you on there.
[00:32:48] Speaker 12: Yeah, no, I am on there. I just don't use Instagram.
[00:32:50] Speaker 1: I don't use Instagram, but then you add me.
[00:32:53] Speaker 12: Yes, I'm just a creepiest. I use it for stalking reasons. That's the only reason.
[00:32:57] Speaker 1: Peewee Toys?
[00:32:58] Speaker 6: Yeah, from Peewee's Playhouse.
[00:33:00] Speaker 1: Who's Peewee? Peewee Herman. Peewee Herman. Oh, you mean this guy?
[00:33:04] Speaker 6: It's a reseller's tree.
[00:33:06] Speaker 1: Something looks different about your table. It's very, did you sell everything or?
[00:33:10] Speaker 10: Just about, this is, I'm pretty much, Are you serious? End of this one year long campaign of getting rid of the stuff.
[00:33:15] Speaker 1: As in like, but did you sell stuff today to make the shelves so poorly merchandised?
[00:33:21] Speaker 10: No. I mean, I had another figure there.
[00:33:23] Speaker 1: You got a shelf there with one figure on it.
[00:33:25] Speaker 10: It's holding my donuts and my drinks. There's one figure on it. There was a hellboy there earlier today. Oh, was there? Yeah, so that's sold. I got something for you. Your bags. These are the bags we use for our figures. Take these with you. Oh, cool. Oh, thank you so much. That's awesome. They're good for your six inches. And then these are for your little accessories as well. It's different separate. So they don't rub up against each other. This guy.
[00:33:48] Speaker 1: Experience seller. Is that how you do it? Is that how you do it?
[00:33:51] Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, yeah.
[00:33:52] Speaker 1: If you had to pick one movie out of all these movies, which movie would you pick?
[00:33:56] Speaker 13: I would pick, oh, probably Enemy at the Gates. Dude, lore and sniper film.
[00:34:03] Speaker 1: No, war films aren't really my thing.
[00:34:05] Speaker 13: That's, yeah, I would choose that.
[00:34:06] Speaker 1: If I had to choose one, I would probably go with John Wick. John Wick, nice. I can't remember who it was, but recently I spoke to someone who said they collect Warhammer Space Marine figures, and that's what these are. These are awesome. They look so great. I don't know anything about those characters, but they look awesome. I've also seen some cosplays dress up as them, and they look absolutely awesome. You've got some sweet carded Batman figures here from Peter and Evan there. Working hard from Evan's Collectibles. Make sure you head down to Chelsea and check out Evan's store at the market 3196. I think that's the numbers off the top of my head. And then finally, I was about to complete my first lap. It only took me three hours. I reached the front corner, the front left corner. If you walk into the building and turn left first, this is technically the first. corner, I always go right, and then I'd go all the way through, and then come back here last. And then once I've looked at this front corner, I know that I've been through the entire place. Next, we're going to speak to Mr. Anime, who I've been calling Tom all these years. Turns out it's actually Ton, like Tom, but with an N. But he said that I could still call him Tom or Ton or something else. Haven't I been calling you Tom the whole time? It says Ton there.
[00:35:22] Speaker 14: Yeah, no, no. You can call me Tom or Ton. You can call me Yummy if you want.
[00:35:28] Speaker 1: I'm not going to call you Yummy. You know, you got that Yummy, Yum, that Yummy, Yum.
[00:35:35] Speaker 14: Hi, Simon.
[00:35:37] Speaker 1: Have you guys been seeing how cool the stuff this guy's posting on Instagram is? You've been posting a lot of stuff.
[00:35:42] Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, I have.
[00:35:43] Speaker 1: You're posting maybe a little bit too much stuff sometimes on certain days, and you don't want to flood it too much.
[00:35:48] Speaker 14: Yeah.
[00:35:48] Speaker 1: Sometimes you do like six posts in a day. Yeah.
[00:35:50] Speaker 14: It depends on how busy I am with other work.
[00:35:55] Speaker 1: Maybe just try two a day, you know, that way.
[00:35:58] Speaker 14: Doing dishes, garden work, bring the feed out.
[00:36:03] Speaker 1: And being so yummy.
[00:36:05] Speaker 14: Being so yummy, filling the goldfish.
[00:36:07] Speaker 1: Oh, stripping in the evenings.
[00:36:09] Speaker 14: Yeah, all the domestic work.
[00:36:11] Speaker 1: We got you like 60 something followers.
[00:36:13] Speaker 14: 66, I think. This guy's counting. Yeah, yipping. Oh, yipping. Yes. And you get the Kit Kat. I get the Kit Kat.
[00:36:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, share.
[00:36:22] Speaker 14: You can share. Thanks, Yummy. Thank you so much, Yummy. Oh, my pleasure.
[00:36:27] Speaker 1: Well, give him a follow, because we're trying to get to 100.
[00:36:30] Speaker 14: Yes, so you guys can call me Yummy at the next show.
[00:36:36] Speaker 1: You get a discount if you call him Yummy. See?
[00:36:40] Speaker 14: Another version as well.
[00:36:42] Speaker 1: Another version of a Kit Kat.
[00:36:43] Speaker 14: Do you want this one or do you want this one?
[00:36:45] Speaker 1: I like the tradition. No, no, no. You save one for yourself, mate. This is my payment for the promotion. I don't want to rob you of your chocolate. What are you getting? How many did you get? I got two chocolates. So, it's time to see what I'm going to spend my money on. There is one thing that I've seen. All right, Gatch. I'm going to get one.
[00:37:08] Speaker 5: Yep.
[00:37:09] Speaker 1: And it's up to you to pick me which one I'm going to get.
[00:37:14] Speaker 6: The question is, which one are you aiming for? Oh. So that way I can feel the energy.
[00:37:18] Speaker 1: Oh, fuck. They're all pretty good. I probably want... Man, Megatron looks sick. Megatron looks badass. I probably want Prime. But to be fair, if there's only those ones, they're all pretty good. I'll probably say Prime or Megatron first. But yeah, they're all really good looking. Hey, no one had these. Thrilled Toys has these. Huh? Huh? All right.
[00:37:42] Speaker 6: The vibe. The vibe. This is the vibe. That's the one.
[00:37:46] Speaker 1: That's the one? That's the one. All right. All right. Let's do it, mate. Let's do it. You guys have to put in the comments now, though. What one am I going to get?
[00:37:52] Speaker 6: What's he getting?
[00:37:54] Speaker 1: Optimus, Megatron. Is it a hot rod? Yep. Galvatron or the mystery ones? Whoa. Oh, man. That mystery one's going to be dead prime on the bottom right.
[00:38:02] Speaker 9: Good to see you, James. You got sunnies on, mate. I'm Mr. Orange today. You are? Yeah. Show us what you got, man. You got some stuff? I found something because I'm a bit of a Jurassic Park fan. You are a massive Jurassic Park fan. And I have not seen these anywhere. And he told me you got them from America.
[00:38:19] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I've never seen those either. They're interesting packaging. Like, they're three and three quarter size.
[00:38:25] Speaker 9: And we've got the Sam Neill one, which that one will be really hard to find now. There you go. Anything Sam Neill's kind of going hot. Jurassic Park collections are going to run out of space soon. It grows every couple of weeks, I reckon. And the whole collectibles room is getting chockers.
[00:38:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw a clip somewhere. I can't remember where I saw it, but I saw something. And your room's looking good, man.
[00:38:45] Speaker 9: Yeah, I need another lounge now. I don't want you all.
[00:38:49] Speaker 1: So, how about all the holes in this vlog? Now, if I happen to call this Toy Holes Galore, you know what I mean. How cool are these Bruce Lee vintage figures there? Hey, who remember having the hard pencil cases like these? You were a cool kid if you had a pencil case like this back in the day. I remember you can get some that had like little buttons, like I had one. You press little buttons and little compartments will come out. They were the coolest pencil cases. But this Dragon Ball one here is absolutely badass. I'm not even a Dragon Ball guy. But I can tell you right now that that pencil case would make you the coolest kid in town. Speaking of Dragon Ball, this little Dragon Ball figure and diorama set is also very cool. Now, something else that's very popular but I don't collect is The Simpsons. But if I did collect Simpsons, I would probably just collect Bartman because when I was a kid, Bartman was like the coolest. Bart was my favorite character. He was the one that I could, you know, relate to the most and I thought Bartman was super cool. Anyway, before the faux bros go get some faux and then I go home and tell you about the show and show you what I picked up, we're going to chat to Will and Andrew because it's customary to do that at the Vintage Modern Toy Fair.
[00:39:56] Speaker 11: Will, we meet again? Yes, I'm. It seems like we always catch up at Toy Fairs. There's something about that. I know, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:40:04] Speaker 1: Today, thoughts? It was really busy this morning.
[00:40:06] Speaker 11: It was chockers, yeah. It was really good. We're really happy with the numbers that have come through. It's hard to say on a day where it's, what's the forecast, 26 and sunny. Perfect. And you think, you know, is it perfect or is it like, oh no, we won't go indoor to a toy fair, we'll go to, you know, go to the park. But a lot of people came early, which is great. Everyone that bought their early tickets.
[00:40:28] Speaker 1: You go to the toy fair first and then you go to the park.
[00:40:29] Speaker 11: Then you go to the park.
[00:40:30] Speaker 1: And play with your toys.
[00:40:31] Speaker 11: 100%. Now, we don't play with toys. Oh, okay. You know, we keep them in acrylic cases and put them away and don't touch them.
[00:40:37] Speaker 1: Are you one of those guys then?
[00:40:39] Speaker 11: No, no. I was going to say, actually. I can't afford that.
[00:40:42] Speaker 1: Do you still collect? Yeah, yeah, I collect. I've heard you tend to say, yeah.
[00:40:46] Speaker 11: Mainly ephemera sort of stuff, like milk bar signs and icy pole wrappers and, oh, what did you get? What did you cost? A red bull sign, but I'll show you the other side of the cool part. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, so that sort of stuff. Advertising. Stuff that you couldn't, I love that stuff. The stuff you couldn't buy at the time and you had to go and ask the milk bar owner, hey, can I have that Star Wars icy pole sign when you're finished with it?
[00:41:11] Speaker 1: It's hard to value that stuff too, like, because you can't find too many people selling it.
[00:41:15] Speaker 11: No, and I keep a record of stuff that's sold over the last 20 years on eBay of individual signs. The last 20 years? I've been on eBay since 1999, which seems a bit crazy, so I'm sure I'm dealing with people now on eBay that weren't born when I started my eBay account, which is not that they're young, it's just that I'm quite old. Not as old as Andrew. Oh, no, I am older than Andrew. Obviously, it was a big year for you guys. Yeah, amazing, and Monster in August was just such a, really, really heartening to see the year-on-year change from that and the interest from overseas, interstate, from both dealers and buyers, in particular buyers, who were willing to travel to Melbourne, make a whole weekend of it, go to Lobos and Arons and places like that, and do, you know, go to the footy or whatever else was on at the time, and they were prepared to spend, and so the dealers now have sort of realised, hey, we can bring high-end items, and there were multiple sales that we're aware of for, you know, $3,000, $4,000, $5,000 items, where normally you wouldn't sell something like that at a toy fair, but that show now, it's, everyone knows in the country, okay, if you go to that show, that's where the big stuff is. Do you need, I think you need to do a thing. Oh, I'm going to do a thing, okay.
[00:42:31] Speaker 1: Go make your money.
[00:42:31] Speaker 11: Thanks, mate, make some money, cheers.
[00:42:33] Speaker 1: Have you got a message to Andrew before we go?
[00:42:34] Speaker 11: Um, no, I get in trouble saying things to Andrew, but. Does he get angry? You know he gets angry. He gets very angry. He sings nice now, but, you know, later, afterwards, it all changes. It's all a facade.
[00:42:47] Speaker 1: I remember this year, the first show of the year went off with a bang. Yes. And just to end it with another big show, obviously you had the big one. Yes. It's been quite the year for you two.
[00:42:55] Speaker 15: It's been a good vintage one on toy for a year. Yeah, we're very happy. Monster Size expanded beyond our wildestream sort of thing in terms of, you know, people coming through the door, but how many sellers were outselling their goods, so.
[00:43:11] Speaker 1: The whole Monster Size fair has grown to a, I think, a height that you guys maybe weren't expecting. I don't know, like, as far as the, it's now known, a lot of people travelled for this one. Do you think we could get bigger than it already is?
[00:43:24] Speaker 15: Oh, look, I expect we'll find that the hall will have more tables in the next year. So, yeah, it can be bigger. You know, we're always getting applications from new vendors and the new vendors are private sellers that want to, you know, cycle through their collection, sell a bit and then buy some back more, you know.
[00:43:41] Speaker 1: I feel like this year you've done a lot of that. Like, today even, like, there was a lot of people I haven't seen before.
[00:43:46] Speaker 15: Yes.
[00:43:46] Speaker 1: A lot of people switched around from their used spots as well. Sometimes that happens. Yeah. Is that, was that a focus this year?
[00:43:53] Speaker 15: We, yeah, we're trying to make sure Malvern always has some new dealers to come through. It's very, sort of, landlocked with, you know, there's only so many tables in this building, but it's our traditional home. And, you know, we want to make sure customers find something new every time. So, we have, you know, some regulars that are always here are really good about cycling through their stuff and bringing new stuff. But we'll see some different dealers come in so you'll find something new that you haven't seen before.
[00:44:24] Speaker 1: Anything new for next year or is everything, you've got the whole 12 months planned out?
[00:44:28] Speaker 15: We've put it out there early. You know, there's a lot of shows on, you know, and a lot of them, obviously, trading cards. So, we wanted to make sure people understood what our dates were next year because, you know, there's a lot of events that people can choose and we appreciate the customers that choose us to come and find their toys. So, we've got that out there. We're starting with a lover's paradise of toys, the toy lover show on Valentine's Day back here at Malbentown Hall. Oh, there you go. Yeah. So, bring your lover, buy an action figure or something else. So, that is, yeah, anything. It probably won't happen again, you know, Sunday the 14th of 2027 of February.
[00:45:08] Speaker 1: I can't think of a better place to take a first date, you know. Well, we expect Sarah to come along. Yeah, okay, that's a good reason. Hi, Sarah. So, the whole point, Monster Size and this. Yes. We're going to, like, as Will was mentioning, obviously, a lot of people just even outside of Australia now know about it. Yes. We're going to make Melbourne the toy capital of the world. I don't think we have to make it.
[00:45:30] Speaker 15: I think we've done it. Oh, the world. Oh, sorry. I thought you were going to say Australia. We're shooting bigger.
[00:45:35] Speaker 1: We're shooting bigger, mate.
[00:45:36] Speaker 15: Of the world. Yeah. Okay, let's do it. Let's do it.
[00:45:39] Speaker 1: And just one last thing. Yes. Have you had a message for Will when he watches this video?
[00:45:43] Speaker 15: Oh, my God. He's already said something very nasty. We'll see. We'll see. We'll compare. We'll compare. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:45:49] Speaker 1: Well, happy Christmas. You guys are both so nice. Good to see you, mate. Good to see you, Simon. That's it. We're done. Are we doing fur bros? Yeah, I'm down for whatever. Fuck yeah. All right. All right. Well, I'll see you, man. See you. Take care. All right. Faux bros. There's a faux place. Seven minutes walk from Malvern Town Hall. Well, from where we parked anyway. So 4.5 stars. Nice. That might be a little bit too high, you know. Sometimes the best faux places have shit star ratings because you don't want good service. You want bad service as we established.
[00:46:22] Speaker 7: Are there any photos of the furniture?
[00:46:24] Speaker 1: It actually does look quite nice in there. So, I don't know. We could be walking into a trap here. All right. So, seven minutes later, we'd arrived at Viet, Table, and Co. They bring the Viet and the tables. You just bring the Co. And as soon as I walked in, I was like, this place is way too nice for the faux to be good. And then I looked at the menu. I was like, oh, no. We walked into a white people faux place. Now, don't get offended. What I mean by that is most traditional faux places will have all this weird stuff that, you know, not everyone wants to eat, but I want to eat it. So, when some places cater for, I guess, a Western audience, then they sometimes don't put that weird stuff in there. So, it was just beef and brisket is what we got. That's all we had the choice of. And look, I do have to say it was actually pretty good. It was 4.5 stars on Google. I'm going to give it a 4.2. They only lost points because the place was too nice inside.
[00:47:20] Speaker 2: Alright, so I'll start off with the figure. I got the Black Canary, which I think is the DC Classic.
[00:47:28] Speaker 1: Any modification on this?
[00:47:30] Speaker 2: No, it's a DC Rebirth. I don't think so. I'll probably just keep it in box.
[00:47:35] Speaker 1: In box?
[00:47:35] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's one of the collector editions. In box? In box, yeah. I've got the... No, that's a good pick-up. 15 bucks? 15 bucks for the 89 soundtrack. That's pretty good. Horror films to go, yeah, physical media, to go with the theme of October coming up to Halloween. So, I've got Evil Dead. Oh, mate. I've got the... Are these yours or Roy's? I know. Roy's going to borrow that because he hasn't seen it. Caligula, an old...
[00:48:08] Speaker 7: Malcolm McDowell.
[00:48:09] Speaker 2: Yeah. Cannibal Holocaust. Oh, shit. Yeah. Controversial. Controversial and Texas Chainsaw, Mexico. Oh, that's the Jessica Biel one. Jessica Biel, which I haven't seen this one.
[00:48:18] Speaker 1: I saw the cinemas. Yeah. That's my fault. Oh, Evil Dead. Good segue. What'd you get, Roy?
[00:48:26] Speaker 7: I got gifted.
[00:48:28] Speaker 1: This guy stars in a video. Next thing you know, he's getting gifts in the simple verse.
[00:48:33] Speaker 7: Suits the singlet, man. It's the range of t-shirts.
[00:48:37] Speaker 1: I know. Mark, the speech, is quite intimidated by your t-shirt game.
[00:48:41] Speaker 7: Oh, we had an... We had an incident at the table. where he's like, felt threatened by my t-shirts and I told him how much I love that Punky Brewster line he was wearing in the video. Yeah, he got this Necronomicon. Like a prop. Like a, I guess, rubber prop. Yeah. But got given that by a guy named Jono that... Shout out to Jono. Shout out to Jono. We were both after that Necronomicon I bought a few weeks ago.
[00:49:07] Speaker 1: Hang on. So you were both after that Necronomicon. You bought it and he missed out? And now he's giving you a gift?
[00:49:14] Speaker 7: That's what I thought initially. I thought he wanted it. So I got that, which is awesome and I appreciate it. You didn't have to do that. Oh, it's from Trick or Treat. Yeah, man. It's real nice. So thank you, Jono. Shout out to you. And then I got this off Shane. My first WWF Wrestling Fear. I got 1986 on my birthday it was Ricky the Dragon Steamboat from Ashburton Toy World. I'm really stoked to get this because I wanted to get one because it was my first one, man. I don't need them all. This was just one that I never used as a Bruce Lee figure. So this sounds pretty cool. It's not the bear again. Very good, mate. That's it? No.
[00:49:53] Speaker 1: One more. Oh, mate. It's just...
[00:49:55] Speaker 7: Another Necronomicon.
[00:49:56] Speaker 1: This guy.
[00:49:58] Speaker 7: All the gifts. Sorry about the earthquakes and the storms when I opened my Necronomicon last week. So I'll keep them all closed this week.
[00:50:07] Speaker 1: All right. I am back and I don't have the most impressive haul but I do have some things to show you and obviously I have my thoughts on the day. So the thing I noticed about today was most of the sellers I definitely recognized there was a couple that I wasn't as familiar with and sometimes these guys I do, you know, I know a lot of people but I don't know all of them. There was this one table near the entrance of the main haul. I don't recognize them but they had some great stuff at their table. They had all those vintage toy collector boxes and yeah, there was definitely a few sellers today. I was like, oh, I don't know if I've seen you here and it was definitely mixed around a bit. Definitely feels, you know, I think one of the things that some people were saying, you know, a year ago and not just this event but like a lot of the events in general were that obviously you see a lot of the same sellers because there are a lot of sellers at these toy fairs. This is like a side business for them. So, you know, they take it seriously and they're going to take as many opportunities as they can to be at these shows. And then you've got the people who are casuals like me and a lot of the people actually at Malden are casuals where they'll only sell at the Vintage and Modern Toy Fair which is great in some ways. It's great because people who, you know, when it comes time to go to Vintage and Modern Toy Fair you know you're going to see those guys there, right? But also, if you go to the Vintage and Modern Toy Fair always and sometimes it's like, well, I always see these guys. I want something different. You know, so I definitely feel I mean, they said themselves that, you know, they are wanting to have some sort of turnaround for, you know, newer vendors but it is difficult because they have the limited space and I don't think they want to leave that space because of the history. You know, they've been doing it since just pre-COVID I believe it is. Before that, the Malden, I don't know if it was called the Malden Vintage and Modern Toy Fair or it was just the Malden Toy Fair before Andrew and Will started doing the show there but obviously that had a long history at the Malden Town Hall and once that stopped I think Andrew and Will's you know, sort of idea was hey, let's do our own show but we'll carry on the tradition at the Malden Town Hall. I had a great time today. Obviously, it's hard to, it's not hard to enjoy these things. It's hard to enjoy the hunt when you're on a limited budget. So, yeah, the limited $50 budget today was definitely challenging. The guys have done really well this year. I think with the growth of the collectibles fairs in general, obviously the card space is where it's growing the most. That's where, you know, everyone's like, well, you guys have shows every week in Melbourne. The reality is we have a lot of card shows and the card shows are what's filling in all the gaps between all the ones that are really a collectibles show and more and more of the card shows. I mean, all the card shows, I said it in my previous videos, all the card shows kind of want to be a collectibles show, you know, but some of them sort of struggle to put on what I would consider a true collectibles show. Yes, the guys have already announced, I don't know if they've announced all their dates for next year on the website. I did know Andrew say that obviously they got their show in February planned on Valentine's Day, so make sure you get a date for that one. I don't think I remember them doing it previous years, but this year they announced right at the start of the year that every date I think that they had booked in, so I think they're doing the same for next year, so yes. Great day as always at this thing, and like I said, I don't need to be there spending money, obviously I do collect, so I do enjoy it, but the $50 was challenging, so before I show you what I spent my money on, of course it wouldn't be an event without some Simple Simon gifts, so I got two gifts today, I'll show you the first one is from Michael or Mick as I call him in my videos or AnnoyingCustomer77 as he's known on Instagram, so he actually messaged me yesterday while I was driving inconveniently and I had to like, I think I saw a notification on Instagram, but I don't check my Instagram notifications unless I've got time to reply to it, I'm not gonna read it and then reply to it later, I don't wanna leave you on read, so I didn't read it and then I saw him text it while I was driving and I was like, okay, so he obviously needs an answer from me now and he's like, do you still need this figure? So I had to go back and forth with him a few times via text, but I had to do it via my microphone and get my microphone to type it out for me and this is a Star Wars Black Series figure that I've been sort of after, I wasn't like chasing it hard, but it was definitely a figure if I saw it, I would've bought it at retail at very least, I don't think I'd wanna pay like more than retail on something like this, I don't think it's a super hard figure to find or like a super desirable figure anyway, it's from a Star Wars show that no one liked, including me, but it's a really cool looking character, which is why I wanted to get this figure and you know what? It's funny, out of all my shelves here, my most impressive, I always say, figure collection is probably my Star Wars Black Series. My Marvel Legends isn't bad, but my Star Wars Black Series, it's just a really random, like for a Star Wars collector, you might look at my Star Wars shelf and be like, what the f***? They're the most random characters ever, right? So I only collect characters that I kind of like, but I haven't bought a new Star Wars Black Series figure for quite some time and a lot of them are like, yeah, like I said, from like the TV shows because again, I kind of got into Star Wars again because of the Mandalorian and then started watching a lot of the more newer TV stuff that was coming out so a lot of the characters from there and I don't, I'm not so much into the prequels and things like that, so, but yes, it's been a while since I added anything to the Black Series collection and this character here is just so cool looking and he's pretty badass to be honest in the show. This is, I believe he's known as The Stranger from The Acolyte which was not the, you know, most praised Star Wars show. In fact, I remember as it was coming out week by week the amount of hate it was getting and I understand I was watching it for what it was and I wasn't hating on it at all until it ended and I was like, that felt like a waste of time. So, yes, but he's a cool looking character and if you haven't seen The Acolyte and I understand a lot of people wouldn't want to waste their time on it but if you haven't seen The Acolyte it has one of the most brutal lightsaber battles in all of Star Wars by far. But The Stranger was just a cool looking character and he was a cool character in general I think in that show. The show just didn't hit up and he's also got, I might have to do B-roll this. This probably won't come out well on this camera that I'm filming on now but I've also got his helmetless head as well as the accessory. So that's very cool. So yeah, Michael hit me up. He was at Lobo's I think he said and they had this loose. So at first he goes he's still after this figure and he just sent me like the generic photo that you would see in an online store and I was like uh yeah if I can get him you know for retail I'd probably buy him. He was like loose and I was like mate, even better, even better. But yes, thank you Michael. That's a new figure for the Black Series shelf which again is looking pretty good although my figures keep falling like the struggles of collecting figures is becoming a reality and I got figures falling over all the time. But yes, that was my first gift. My second gift was a bit of a surprise. This next one was gifted to me from Ivan from Nexus Toys and Collectibles. Shit, I didn't even say their name. Is it Nexus Toys and Collectibles? I used to always call them Nexus Gaming for some reason because they, you know, you'll know who they are. They're always at events and they specialize in a lot of retro games and things like that. First time I ever met or didn't meet them but the first time I ever saw Nexus was the first time I went to anything like this which was Days of Future Pop Culture back in 2019 when I first experienced my Tofa. I didn't even know that's what that was but now that I look back to it I was like holy crap. So my mate Sean, I always bring it up the famous Days of Future Pop Culture event the first time I went. I'm sure I'll cut to some B-rolls right now because I looked skinny back then but that was such a great event and I remember him being there and he had a lot of vintage toys and things like that but yes, he had like a big giant it was like a Red Bull Street Fighter stand where you could put cans to drink on there or something like that. I don't know how much that was but obviously it was going to be more than $50 but then he also had this extra little piece that was part of that promotion and he said you could have this it's a Red Bull Street Fighter promotional I guess this would kind of like stick on the side of a shelf or something like that it says Hadouken in a can it's got the different Red Bull can designs that you can get but this isn't the cool side are you ready for this? This is the cool side right here boom how good is that? Very very nice this is Street Fighter 5 I think it is because Ken has the weird outfit there so yeah that's very cool I was saying that it won't fit on my Street Fighter in my Street Fighter shelf but I can probably stick it oh yeah that works perfect I can probably stick it onto the side of my Street Fighter cabinet there I've got a whole cabinet full of Street Fighter stuff but yeah that's very cool so big shout out to the crew at Nexus that was a little unexpected gif there and that's very cool Street Fighter 5 is a little bit way after my time I kind of was into the Street Fighter thing probably up until number by the time 3 came out I think I was already not really playing video games or not playing those type of games anyway I definitely played through all the Street Fighter 2's the Alpha series but yeah by the time Street Fighter 3 came out I think I was pretty much almost out of the game by then and then what did I pick up alright first oh shit I've got something else to show you Jin likes going to like antique collectible type places collect the markets whatever you call them with his wife Kirstie and he spotted this and he was like do you want this and it was only 20 bucks so I was like well yeah for 20 bucks I think I want this so he got me the original Sonic the Hedgehog on Game Gear which is great I'm glad I've got this so I bought my Game Gear and I haven't really been playing it I've only got two games I've got NBA Jam and I've got Columns it's hard to find Game Gear games at these kind of events and I actually was talking to King of the Street today about it and he goes yeah they're hard to find but you know where you can get Game Gear games and they've got a whole ton of them Nexus Toys and Collectibles they had a whole little strip of Game Gear games not one that I was after so the game I'm really after on Game Gear is they did the Streets of Rage I think it's Streets of Rage 2 even so I would like a game like that like a little scrolling bean em up is what I'd like to play Sonic I'll probably have a go at that too this will definitely bring back some nostalgia so thank you Jin for picking that up for me next one is I bought a gift for Sarah I swear it's for Sarah but I'm probably going to take a photo of this with one of my toys before I give it to her oh look at that that's cute so I bought this from I think her store name is Vintage Sky I do forget the young lady's name but she specializes in kind of like vintage I don't want to say girly toys because I'm sure boys like them too and there are bronies out there but she got the very colorful table and a lot of great stuff Polly Pockets and you know My Little Ponies and things like that and she had a whole bunch of these little My Little Ponies and Sarah has kind of been into the My Little Ponies recently obviously she probably grew up with it but of the cards the TCG My Little Pony cards that came out recently it's gotten her all into her My Little Pony so I thought I'd get Sarah a pony and this is Rainbow Dash so I saw them right at the start of the day she had pretty much every pony right and in different versions as well it's like different lines I guess you'd call them I saw them straight away I was like oh like for example if I didn't have a budget today I could just spend whatever like I would have bought them straight off the bat but obviously knowing I had a limited budget I had to like wait to see if they were still there at the end of the day and if I had any budget left because again I don't want to buy stuff anymore just for the sake of buying it right I bought my Mystery Transformer blind box and then I went back and she had I think
[01:01:22] Speaker ?: I think I think
[01:01:22] Speaker 1: this was the only Rainbow Dash left so this is Sarah's favorite so Sarah's favorite My Lord of Ponies are Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy there was a Fluttershy as well but I asked her is that Fluttershy the same sizing and stuff is it from the same series she goes no that's actually from a different series so the sizing was actually pretty similar but it wasn't the same so I thought I'd leave it yeah that was only eight dollars so nice little cheap purchase and Sarah has a little pony for now but the reason I'm going to take a photo with the two I'm posting on Instagram is because my friend Mark the speech we're friends guys get over it he asked me about a My Little Pony comic book recently I'm assuming for his daughter I mentioned to him did you know I've got a My Little Pony comic book in my collection in my PC because they actually did a Transformers crossover with My Little Pony years ago and I thought it was so bizarre back then back then I wasn't even collecting Transformers or nothing I just thought that is the weirdest thing I've ever seen I need to buy it so I bought I don't know how many issues it was I'm pretty sure there was more than one issue I think it was like four issues and I bought them all and I read them that was a very bizarre story I'm going to try to dig out that book wherever it is take a photo with them for the gram make sure you follow me at Simple Simon YouTube alright I'm probably making this very long-winded and more long-winded than it needs to be shout out to Manny as well who hooked me up with some bags for when I sell at Yarraville I mentioned in one of my videos like where do people get their bags to put their you know loose figures in so he got me a whole bag it's a big shout out and he also got me separate bags for the accessories mate experienced toy vendor there alright I'm excited about this so this and look this is not something that I would be you know dying to have these days but when I saw these obviously it was during the hype of the 40th anniversary re-release of the Transformers animated movie which I was very excited about but yeah I did see these blind boxes and no one had them so I was very very surprised to see that Yatch had them today at Thrilled Toys so if you want to get your hands on one of these hit Yatch up on the gram I don't care about the box right do I damage the box let's see who I got I did tell Yatch that I wanted Prime probably the most probably then Megatron and then I got him to pick for me my Transformers what are you doing there's no like little tab that you tear there's none of that you just gotta you just gotta scissors yes that was a terrible bag to open all right you should be able to just tear them open that's so dumb oh I didn't get Prime but that's okay because I said Megatron second that is so cool oh they kind of have some oh they got a little bit of articulation like a five points of articulation so it's just a little figure and again very basic it's kind of like you know your old 80s action figures so it does have a little bit of articulation the arms can go up so that's very cool obviously my ultimate grail right now is a vintage G1 Megatron anyone wants to sell me one at a really cheap price hit me up on Instagram but yes very cool big shout out to Yatch for hooking me up and we got the Megatron I'm happy with that I'm happy with that where am I going to put it though you'll go there for now and that's it hopefully I didn't talk too long at the end of this I'll leave a link to the vintage and modern toy fair website and also their social media in the video description give them a follow if you obviously want to stay up to date with these shows if you've never been to this show it's definitely a good one to get you started because they specialize in the vintage like out of all shows you know there's certain shows that I think kind of have their bread and butter and when it comes to vintage Malvin is the show for vintage the reason this is a good first show as well is because you could bring someone who is not into toys at all you can bring them to the vintage of one toy fair and they will see something and be like oh my god I had that when I was a kid and that's the first test you know a lot of people growing up now they can pass that test like I don't need that again but then there's people like oh I'd like to I'd like to have that again you know represents that part of my life and then next thing you know you've got a collection anyway check out everything in the video description all my sponsors all discount codes are down there check out my friends that I spoke to in this video and until next time I'm Simple Simon tell your friends and keep it simple
