[00:00:00] Speaker 1: it's uh well yeah 8am or something on a sunday morning i'm about to drive an hour to Doncaster to look at toys see you in a bit so back to the familiar Doncaster for another toy fair on the 11th of October 2026 just scanning around to give you an idea of the scale of the place it's under new management um and it was possible to pay on the door using your card for the first time ever and here i am getting ready to do just that as i prepare to enter the building no queues as you can see so i was in about nine o'clock ish which is an hour after early bird starts jason the wild warriors already got it tragically and that was only one that was left uh i'm just going to throw these images up you'll see what they are broadly speaking lots and lots of battle beasts and laser beasts today um so you know nice range as ever but more and more laser beasts appearing i find this was raiders of the lost toy here silver hooks i don't see terribly often so nice to see those and um you know price to match their package status but yeah good good stuff on display and obviously the coconut content is essential for these videos this is uh the cosmic toy man's uh stall here and i've given it some more pictures because there's a lot of stuff as ever there you go lots of bat stuff going on there lots of kaiju of course godzilla i think these those are product enterprises didn't pick any of those up but um tempting certainly this is joe's spectrum flippers stall we've got a bit of firefly the game also dinosaurs and it also has some battle toes which are not a series i watched but i've i know of them basically and small soldiers of course lots of gremlins around but a lot of stalls were going for the halloween theme i think tie fighter on a card don't see them very often no not the original die cast kenner ones um but that is you know the star wars stall and i saw this and i thought of martin quite a nice uh slave one there and then this this all had quite quite a good range of transformers and a g2 grimlock look at that color scheme something else isn't it bright b.a baracus with batman and the enterprise crew interesting don't know what that thunderbird 2 is i've seen it before but i can't remember if it's a model or an actual toy this was interesting these are parts for the 3ds um hypercruiser set that i i showed a while back now but i i knew you could sort of get parts for it like a train set but that's first time i've ever seen them nice batmobile set here don't know what it was very expensive java vinyl cape as you'd expect and a star from black hole and weirdly i spoke about this terahawk set to someone walked one stall to my right and there it was interestingly that is damaged like mine is damaged it's missing a strip on the left of the box that three pack there so i don't know what it is with that if that was a production fault or what uh 18 figures on a card the bigger ones and some dungeons and dragons a nice general lee and a lobot where is he where is he come on um but that made me smile when i saw it um again more more godzilla monsters there and uh some nice jigsaws and transformers and other varieties of stuff i think this is the yorkshire picker i could be wrong but he was live streaming so i felt it only fair that i took a picture of him whilst he was live streaming never seen anyone do that before at doncaster i don't think uh monsters in my pocket there and devastated in a bag which i thought was novel and respect my authority south park had to be done this was my last technic set ever that i had in lego dusty bin ironically because i just i used that as an example in the last cosmic council of things that didn't get anywhere other than britain nice small soldiers display nice bucket of hair a display from possibly spain ancient stingray um remote controlled kind of toy that i've never seen before nice display of annuals most of which i have that's the manic miners apparently the washing machine in his uh setup is because he's a bit based above a laundrette i did not know that so there you go that's why there's a uh a godzilla battling a uh a washing machine and just some action man stuff there for you to have a look at so that's your thing and a silver hawk's tally hawk sealed very big toy from looks of it and um from clash of the titans i was busy not really knowing that those existed but apparently they're a thing and that's definitely definitely does look like um oh what's his name you know the hero um and an animan have you pronounced that last 17 nice and a tiger shark i've heard of them not sure i've ever seen one in flesh before not cheap um it's more general stuff here the corgi stuff that's always there in the boxes very nice king tv eagles and so on there and this guy who used it he was dressed as a star trek captain today bless him he does all sorts of model stuff he's got some more stuff there gremlins were everywhere like i say but that was particularly amusing for obvious reasons and nice uh little 18 corvette there as well a few moments later okay i'm just picking these out of the bag as i go first up from phil we have legends of batman night quest batman with battle wings and blazing missile now many of you will appreciate that i have a certain penchant for uh as bats this is not one i think that i've seen before i hope it's not one that i've already got um so it's also quite unusual for me to pick these up in packages so the packaging itself is going to be something that i'm going to be having a little sort of a look at in due course as you see it's a sort of a kenner release and i forget whether or not this was caught in that time sort of between no it wasn't between urtl and kenner because urtl would never released figures like this so this is pure kenner um but as i say you know having this little sort of this little card looking thing up here um is going to be sort of a little a little thing for me to look at but it also obviously it has the benefit that it's got all these accessories with it so that could be that could be an interesting one to look at and judging by the figures on the back here they don't seem to be any others from nightfall or night quest but i am aware of night quest the interesting thing is that it's kind of this armor color is in no way correct for asriel like ever um so it's it's sort of it's slightly curious i have had a figure before that is a little bit like this um so perhaps i have experienced this one before but certainly not not that one precisely so thank you phil um now then what else have i got uh that's not a toy this is a toy now i've got this from joe spectrum flipper i'm just glancing over to see if not it is in fact one that i don't have and happily i really don't think i did get it i instinctively decided that i didn't have this one um but this of course is a jaeger from the the original pacific film rim uh pacific film but you can tell i'm tired can't you pacific rim film there you go managed it and um and unusually for me again this is uh well this is the opposite case for some reason i have a great many of these that are on their card backs but um fewer that are loose but obviously this one is loose so that's nice because this is one of the few original pacific rim figures that i was actually missing um i haven't i've not really stopped to look and think about whether or not i've now got all of them um i don't think i have is it was it crimson typhoon the three armed one i don't think i have an example of that one unless i've got it on a card but i've got gypsy avengers coming out of my ears and several kaiju but i think this is probably one of the the original jaegers i simply do not have um and it's a lovely one that's i'm i'm just sort of having a quick look at the detail as joe pointed out the cockpit is here which is hilarious because it's got all this sort of armor plating up the top and then the cockpit is completely exposed it's like it's not a good look guys um but you know much like the all the enterprises in history it's like guys why aren't you uh why aren't you hiding the bridge because surely that would make more sense if you actually sort of hid the bridge so that people couldn't lock onto it and lob torpedoes at it directly that would be really sensible so um nice clunky looking mech it's kind of it was supposed to be one of the oldest ones if i remember rightly sort of russian mech that was still active um so it had a lot of weight to it but it wasn't as nimble as as some of the more modern ones from other countries but you know it's it is what it is and it's it's a it's a nice figure um so i was quite happy to pick up that and as i say nice to get one loose as well um but i also couldn't believe that joe was getting rid of them um but there you go so that was that one let's see what else i have in the bag of goodies now i was on a relatively limited budget today so i didn't go that crazy because i was trying to be trying to be good um from the gentleman behind gareth i got this now i'm not a massive massive jigsaw collector but i spotted these sort of lurking towards the back of his stand and i just thought yeah do you know what i think they're quite fancy the look of that now i i assume it's complete i assume he's probably looked at it and tested it don't think we particularly need to spin the back of the blank cardboard andrew um so parker brothers jigsaw puzzle i'm not sure if i've heard of parker brothers before but it's got a rather lovely fleet picture on it here now i'm sure that i've seen this before but whether or not we actually ever see it in the series i'm not so certain because two battle stars like this in the series i can only think of one episode where this would happen so i'm not quite sure whether or not this was from the very first episode when there was still a battle star fleet around or they just they've just composited this for the sake of the jigsaw i think it's probably the latter but i stand to be corrected um apparently it's ages seven to fourteen so i'm too old to make it sadly but there you go um i'm not even making that up that's exactly what it says here ages seven to fourteen so you are you are barred from creating this if you are outside of those ages apparently um you had a couple more but i felt it would be rude for me to pinch all of them so i've just um i've just left that left the others for others to pick up basically but yeah it's very cool um so i may well have a crack at that at some point because yeah you just can't beat a bit of sort of proper proper model built spaceships it's just you know it's what i grew up on that is fundamentally what i grew up on so um loving loving that um now then i haven't actually i haven't strictly speaking checked who this is yet um but i do believe that it is one of the um the last 17 ewoks or ewoks if you prefer and she's not complete i think it's a she i think it might be a she i'm just guessing it's a she and they're probably martin's probably screaming at the screen saying i know who that is and that's absolutely fine and as it should be um but i don't have many last 17s and many of the last 17s are in fact these guys uh because they're they're you know return the jedi lateness so um i just thought i'd pick this up because i was in that sort of mood today where i was trying to fill little gaps in my collections um so although it's not complete many of my star wars things are not in fact complete and i don't tend to get overly upset about it because that's expensive basically to try and get original weapons and so on so i like the fact that she has her headdress because you i often see these completely naked you know they just don't have anything on at all so at least she's got the headdress so i was i was i was happy enough to sort of settle with with uh with with that one now another one i was missing was this chap and this was a really odd one for me because i could have sworn that i had this already um and i think i've actually crossed it off my list but i do not in fact have a gonk droid um and when i looked at it i thought is that is that really a standard issue vintage figure is that how it came because it's it's a really odd shape and size for a normal figure and yet apparently this this was indeed a normal figure um so i thought well fair enough then um and i duly picked it up because it was a gap in my collection and i was assured that you know it's stickers were in really nice shape etc etc but you know i got this from a store that specializes in the star wars figures exclusively nearly so i was i was reasonably happy with with that as a concept and um it fills the gap that i thought i didn't have which is yeah odd but there you go uh these things do happen little sort of spreadsheet glitches um more like human error on my part this time i'm sure but so anyway i now have a gonk droid to my name so he can live with my my other droids in due course that was not the last star wars thing that i picked up though see i was having a bit of run of of star wars items as it turned out on the day and um i think for everyone's safety it's probably best that i leave him in his packaging salacious rum now i don't believe that he was ever actually released on a card back i believe he only actually comes as part of the jabber palace play set um with jabber obviously but i think a lot of people do consider him to be part and parcel of i can't really think of any sensible way to stand him up because he seems to be upside down in his box oh well um but he's got his sort of you know whatever his spice blower type thing is in there as you can probably see so he is at least uh he seems to have all the accessories that might be vaguely relevant to him which i guess is a good thing um and again you know that was actually the first thing i picked up today i think i got it from i think it was raiders of the last toy something like that so i think it was a raiders pick up that one and um it wasn't i wasn't particularly looking for him but he he stood out to me because i was looking for the gonk droid primarily but i just saw him with a few extra bits and i just thought oh do you know what i like salacious he's fun um you know and he has that sort of that face off with r2 during return of the jedi which is which is always good entertainment value as well so i just thought yeah i'll just i'll just shoot for that one so again another i say i'm not sure if he's technically a gap i knew of him obviously but i didn't know i don't know if he's technically a gap in my my star wars figure collection um very random pick up this was the grand sum of one pound so clearly the gentleman is not a samurai oops a samurai jack fan um and perhaps i won't be if he didn't stand up but i've never actually seen this figure before i don't think i like ever so i'm not quite sure of its origins um i have recently picked up a set of samurai jack figures that included sort of aku and um he does have a sort of a battle action thing going on here but i've no idea what his um origins are there is some wording there so cartoon network made in china um los angeles doesn't seem to have a year on it though so there is some there is some detail there but no no yearage it would appear so that is somewhat unfortunate but i do like a bit of samurai jack it was a great cartoon series if you've never seen it um in those sort of halcyon days of cartoon network when it was really sort of starting to kick off and i think it was the first time i'd had sky tv so i was just glued to it basically because it had a megas xlr and sort of batman beyond and samurai jack was on it as well so um yeah it was a it was a good era that that would have been sort of late 90s basically so it may well have been current at that time he may have been a tie-in toy then the ones that i've got are more recent i think so yeah it's just a just a fun little thing to have to have picked up i was going to get a batman in a similar ilk but unfortunately that i disappeared by the time i came back to the store now um what else we got in here oh yeah yeah okay now this chap is apparently gargantuan gorilla um he is unlucky number 13 when it comes to original battle beast numbers and at the moment he's rather wrapped up in his um his price tag but let me plonk him on there just so you get a view of him so i mean i do have a bit of a habit now of i mean my current rate of progress my battle beast collection will probably take several years to complete if ever because i only ever seem to pick up one every time i go to the wind like doncaster so given that that's those trips are not that frequent um there isn't really a sort of a a great speed to to my collecting of these guys but i do like to get them with the weapons as you probably know um let me move this in a bit because he's he's quite small after all even though he's gargantuan um so yeah it's it's trickier to get them with their weapons but he's one of the quite early ones so i think he sees the first wave of battle beasts basically and i saw a lot of laser beasts today um in fact with their weapons as well which is unusual um and therefore pricey so i didn't get them because my budget was not going to allow me to pick any of those up but this guy was my my sort of last pickup and he he meant that i was sort of you know i was sort of paid up for the day and that was it but um i do i do love their design they're very very simple i don't know if but the interesting thing actually one thing i did notice when i was looking around today and i've mentioned it before but um now he's he's wood um i don't know if you'll be able to see that because they didn't stay lit very very long or indeed he didn't focus very long apparently come on let's heat it up again to see if it'll catch it's very very difficult to to get them on camera because it's um i've got to hit the light just right anyway there is he displays a log basically when you when you when you do his chest rub so um it's they're fun little figures as i say when you get a lot of them they look really impressive because no two are entirely alike at all in fairness to them at all but the um the ones like the other things i saw today earlier on were gore mitty which i thought were very similar to battle beats but they have no articulation at all which i found it deeply odd deeply odd now this is phil's fault um quite frankly uh thank you phil because when i was buying my my batman from him um he showed me a battle star galactica album and that reminded me of something else i'd seen that day and i then proceeded to hunt around the entirety of the floor scratching my head and tearing my hair out until i went back to just behind phil which is where the thing was so i did a complete tour to get this and this is as you can see an et book but this is the sticker album for et and i've just noticed it's a german sticker album i had not noticed that before it doesn't matter for the pictures of course but i've just noticed that it's um it's price in deutschmarks so that read that immediately carbon dates him although it says it's made in italy how confusing so unverbindig presents so anyway it's it's yeah it's it's a copyright 1982 universal but oh i remember this um i remember very very clearly all of these i can't believe i didn't notice that it was in german before i picked it up how random is that so i now have a german et sticker book to my name but all the images are the same as i recall and i do remember very fondly collecting these images i mean i remember i remember sort of this one for example being difficult to find i don't know why um i've i've no idea why it didn't even occur to me that it would be in a different language i mean why would you think i mean in in my defense that isn't in german but obviously what they what's happened is that they've um some of the written pages have got sort of a more normal font so even though it says et equals fun that's probably a graphic and fun equals spatter so they've actually had to translate that there and then they've done the rest in german so that is it's ironic if nothing else but at least the images are there and the images are what bring back my memories of it so that's okay i can live with that but um the only other one of these i've ever picked up is was the transformers one because again that was that was one of the the few ones i ever really got and tried tried hard to complete they had several others they had thundercats and things as well which also would have been sort of you know interesting now final pickup that i have i think it's probably easiest if i just get this out of the way because i'm probably going to have to hold this up um some of you have seen this already and um gareth shush in the chat because i know what you like with these things so very very bizarre thing i was having one of those days i was quite tired because i'd been to see brian cox um doing a sort of sort of i'm going to call it a lecture because it kind of was a lecture but it was slightly more fun than a normal lecture lecture of two halves but i'd seen him the night before so i was quite tired and i arrived at doncaster not knowing quite what i was going to go for and certainly not thinking that i was going to come away with this now i don't know how much of the this is going to catch on on the camera i'm going to take the little light off so it's not shining on it but if you can see this i'm going to move it a little bit further back you see rather awkward for me to spot something just do a bit of technical jiggery-pokery there we go okay so you should now be able to see i think this is a bizarre thing but it's rather lovely it's a space 1999 bagatelli board would you believe and i walked past it once and i looked at it i just thought interesting and then i walked past it again and i asked him how much it was and he told me and i thought that seems very reasonable to my mind now i don't it's i think it's i believe it's i understand it's broken to a degree at least it might well be fixable but it's it's got a little bit of damage apparently on its spring system here but it's got the original balls in it which amuses me for some reason that they're still present but i used to love bagatelli my grandmother um on my dad's side used to have a lovely wooden bagatelli board i don't know if you've ever seen them but they're like this it's like a bit like a pinball so that this ball bounces up and it just naturally falls where it falls basically and on that wooden version it had little nails to form the pockets whereas obviously this is all plastic but what what caught my eye about this one is that it's got lots of the sort of see all the sort of the main characters broadly speaking that's christopher lee that just like that just made me chuckle because i thought that's christopher lee on the plastic pinball board it's got eagles on it although they're all seem to be rescue eagles for no apparent reason but it's got a doctor it's got martin landau um oh i forget what her name is now but it's got um maya um from the actresses and catherine care i think it is catherine is she catherine care i think she might be um but it's just it was it was one of those classic sort of show me another one i've never ever seen one before show me another one and i just thought you i probably won't ever see another one of these before i think gareth saw it and has probably had a sort of similar thought process because i think i imagine that for him it was probably not dissimilar to the sort of the doctor who eras that he liked as well it's very much of that era where you know it's very hand-drawn artwork it's got a sort of comic style artwork to it it's not actually photos that is that is a an image someone has physically created by painting it which is rather lovely and it's just thought i'm not buying it for the bagatelle board i'm buying it because the picture is cool behind the bagatelle that's actually what i've gone for here it's the whole impact of it because for me that's just capturing a lot of those sort of key elements that make space 1999 a very very fond childhood memory for me and that's why i went for it and i just thought you know if these things don't make you smile what's the point and this one just made me smile and as i said i was kind of i was struggling to find my mojo today it was kind of i was i was just a bit sort of i was kind of doing it because i said to myself right i'm going to do it you know and so to find something like this did sort of reassure me that i've made the right decision to actually make the effort and go today because this was this was very cool i mean there were other many other things i saw today they're also very cool that i could have um you know that i would have liked to have picked up but as the gentleman said to me you know it's probably just as well that not many people do do do card sales at doncaster because it's you would you would get yourself in trouble pretty rapidly probably every there's every chance that you would because it is a a target rich environs as i said to him you know there's just a lot of stuff that you could see that you might well want and um yeah but it was it was fun it was fun and um you know obviously gareth would starve to death if i didn't do my supply run as is now my way so um yeah so it was a fun fun fun and fairly diverse range of pickups really when you look at it although a lot of it is a substantial proportion of it is actually star wars of course but you know that's again that's the sort of thing with doncastle you just don't know what you're going to come away with basically you really don't and there are great a great many things that you could potentially come away with given the the variety that's on off there i'm sorry about the um the glow off the stuff on the right that's not working very well is it but you've just seen them all anyway so you probably remember what was there but i hope you've enjoyed that and um i better get on and make the front half of this video now i know it's complicated it's the creative process don't you know cheers well and all [00:28:59] Speaker ?: Thank you.
