[0:00] with jack i know that uh we there was a release that that we put out uh you know and it's positive [0:10] you know um so your prayers are working please continue to do that and uh you know we'll leave [0:17] it at that so just continue to pray for him but it is positive news on jack um you know we did get [0:23] hit a little bit on the injury front um jimmy roller is going to require surgery uh or he could [0:30] the point is this this is significant injury he'll be out for the season um and then you know the rest [0:37] of these guys we kind of know um you know kade's got this ankle um you know he'll he'll be i don't [0:45] see him practicing certainly wednesday um you know dj reed uh got a hip i don't see him practicing [0:53] wednesday um you know uh sailors has got a little something i don't see him practicing wednesday [1:00] and then obviously our two concussion guys you know they don't have to go through protocol there [1:06] so we just you know we got a little bit uh of the bug but that's everybody goes through it and [1:13] it's our time and uh thought we did a good job of those players man um you know filling in where [1:20] we needed them the coaches did a heck of a job keeping the plan alive um yesterday and you know [1:25] we over we overcame a lot we overcame a lot of adversity so um i was really you know i was proud [1:32] about that too the other thing i want to bring up just you know when you go through these games and [1:41] in this league and it's and the competition of it and the you know everything that you go through to [1:48] try to win um and you're going against the opponent like we were with the vikings you know and [1:53] just you know kevin o'connell man he he's class act you know um just you know looking out for him [2:03] checking in on jack but i know those guys said a prayer for jack you know and that that just says [2:08] a lot about the humanity of it man and it man we are highly competitive this league is highly [2:13] competitive but it is a brotherhood and uh it just puts things in perspective and you know these are [2:19] human beings man that have families real lives and uh so it's just you know classy deal man [2:27] questions said you can't say a lot or anything i can't so i'm not going to next question can you see [2:36] does the team get the same updated did you tell the team that there's at least team knows what's going [2:41] on i've given it to the captains how do you prepare for the at the linebacker position going forward [2:48] well luckily we have some depth in there you know with rodrigo and nawowski um and barnes you know [2:54] those three guys and uh and amon's been up for us uh which is good and then we've got bocce ready to [3:00] roll um you know so we we may need a little bit of help you know we're looking at everything we'll [3:06] we'll adjust as we go brad and i'll get together here you know this afternoon tomorrow and figure some [3:11] of this out communication perspective dan um who do you foresee handling the green dot who's that [3:18] from the communication perspective who do you see handling the green dot oh i don't know if we're [3:22] that far yet they honestly they could all handle it between i mean barnes ended up taking it the other [3:27] day you know because of where we were at but rodrigo's done it before he could do it and so [3:32] could nawowski so we're kind of in the beginning stages of that but i feel pretty comfortable with [3:37] all of them dan i don't know if you if you care to share this but have you had a chance to [3:42] converse at all with jack's family and what is what have those communications been like i did i got [3:47] to go see him last night it was good it was positive you know uh got to see his parents [3:52] talk to his wife um and uh you know everybody's in good spirits and um it it's about uh the recovery [4:03] and it's it's a small setback that's you know that's the family they're you know very positive um [4:11] you know so that that's good in that regard right if his teammates able to see him last night a lot of [4:17] people went over there um but it you know not everybody got to go see him he was running some [4:23] tests things of that nature and so just you know at some point it gets hard to have everybody in [4:27] there on that note derrick barnes was saying last night that he won't leave jack's side until he [4:32] knows he's fine i'm sure others feel the same yet you guys also have a job to do this so how cognizant [4:38] do you have to be as a coach that like hearts and minds might be elsewhere in this building this [4:42] week as you try to prepare for the next opponent well i think we acknowledge it right i mean it is what it's [4:48] not going away that that is what it is and and it's important you know and he's important to us [4:53] and um you know that that that he's okay is important and so we acknowledge that we talk about [5:01] it and and at the same time we get ready for this next opponent um so you know i think you you kind [5:08] of do a little bit of both honestly can you describe how much jack means to this team just as a player and [5:13] more importantly as a person well he he's um i don't even know if i can put it into words you [5:19] know it's it's one of the reasons why like you get voted captain i mean that says a ton especially with [5:25] this group of guys that that has been assembled that we've i mean they he earned every bit of that [5:30] he's a guy that um you know he's trustworthy he's dependable um you know he gives you the shirt off his [5:39] back um he's just all heart man all effort and uh and just an unbelievable person i mean that's [5:47] he's just an unbelievable person so down to earth very genuine um and he he he just [5:56] i mean there there's not a man on this team that doesn't respect jack campbell you know and care [6:00] about him and one of the ways you counter minnesota's blitz yesterday was a lot of unique [6:07] offensive looks some seem maybe wing t based i don't know like what was the kind of the genesis of [6:13] the conversations to come up with some of these unique loaded backfield looks to to counter what they [6:18] do uh we've had some stuff uh you know that we've we've had on the stove for a while and we've let [6:26] it simmer and uh and we just really haven't quite used it yet um you know so we just wanted to force [6:35] the issue we felt like this was a good week um this is a change up and uh felt like our guys could [6:41] handle it uh it'd be good for gibbs too you know um and they they did a good job so it was it was [6:49] something we felt like we could handle um it wasn't that off base for us schematically you know [6:56] or rules wise and we could still play fast and identify everything but yet you know go play ball [7:03] and give them a little something different so um anyway you know it proved to be good for us [7:11] obviously the human side of it as you did but you never really i don't think ever really prepared for [7:16] when you see it when it hits you right there how did it hit you like how hard and how do you keep [7:24] that perspective yeah it's um it's difficult you know it's difficult so you don't ever want to see [7:33] somebody like that on the field but when you you know when you see jack jack never lays on the field [7:40] ever no matter what it is and that's when you're like you know it just it it uh like i say it puts it [7:46] in perspective it's hard you know and it was hard on everybody you know it's hard on the players man [7:52] you know to see your see your guy down there like that but um you know i mentioned this when you're [7:57] you're in the world we're in you know you got to snap back in and it's not an easy thing to do but [8:04] but they did you know and we we found a way to overcome a lot of adversity between that and the [8:10] uh the officials and all the other stuff that came about man we just kept coming back we got it done [8:17] we found a way and then it was back to jack you know so it's hard but but you know we we did what [8:26] we had to do severity of concussions kind of hard to tell in the early phases but wonham's looked [8:33] particularly scary from the outside so i wonder if you have an update uh he's like i say he he and [8:39] and branch are both in concussion protocol um you know i i don't um i really don't have anything else [8:48] that you know he came in i wouldn't say it was any better any worse than you know um a concussion [8:56] anybody else has had really um so i can't really swing one way or another for you there with really [9:02] he or bb we won't know until they you know today wasn't a negative um you know you go through the next [9:11] day and we'll see what happens um so i you know we'll see branch maybe in a slightly different [9:18] context but not wanting to take away his his stinger with the way he plays the game is there [9:23] anything that he needs to change about the way he tackles that put himself at risk and in this case [9:28] also a teammate uh not necessarily i mean certainly keep your eyes up um you know a lot of it once he's [9:35] going uh he's tar he's going for his target and then that target drops you know and so that ends [9:41] up where it goes you know um you know you can certainly say go lower um but now you know you [9:48] got to be careful you start going real low then um you start taking out knees and stuff you don't [9:54] want any of that so uh just keep your eyes up see what you hit try to drop it just a little bit [10:00] you know but um but listen this is a violent game man there's no way around it anyway you cut it [10:06] and it just is and it's what we signed up for and that's that's hard um but it is what has been [10:13] signed up for anybody that plays this game and um you know anyway it's tough thank you
