[00:00:00] Speaker 1: Hi all, welcome to my channel, welcome to my world. This is The World Away and it's another monumental day. This has been like three years we've been building this but we're coming to the end. This is the last four stages of the Hachette Parkworks Build the Mark III Lancaster Bomber. Now look, I am in my Lancaster get-up today but by the end of the video I can't guarantee I'm going to be in the same get-up because I am going to film this over a few days because I happen to know there's hardly anything to do in stage 130 and I don't think there's much to do in stage 127 as well. These two stages though there's a fair bit to do and I want to make sure I get it right because this is the bit normally where things go wrong and things get broken which I don't really want to do. Let me just show you something quickly. Okay here's the fuselage. Now remember this survived a fall off the shelves okay but it's all in one piece. Now we're going to be toppling this over putting it on its side and all of that. I think it's going to be okay because it's quite rigid, no problems at all. The mission today, should you choose to accept it, is not to break the guns there and not break the guns there because those guns are really like, I don't know, sticks of spaghetti. They are really really fragile. So that is going to be today's mission. Now I don't think this is still available. You're the only place you're probably going to get it. You might be able to get the later issues on the Haship artwork site. Most of it's probably going to be on eBay unless it comes back in another country. But I have put all my links to every build on my channel just in that QR code there. Here we go. Please, please, please let it go good. Without further ado, let's get cracking. Okay, so today is Thursday. This video, I believe, goes out Monday. So let's see how we get on. So this is stage 127 and we've got the starboard fuselage panel, which we're going to be putting together just like this. We're actually going to be putting the top down. Now at the moment, as you probably saw earlier on, my top's just actually held down with a bit of masking tape at the moment. So we won't need that going forward. And then we're putting the side in and then we're going to be putting the bouncing bomb into position as well. So once that's in and screwed in, as you see, there isn't really much to do in this stage. This is the rest of the magazine. So I'll get open stage 127 and I'm going to need to get out the parts that I've used before. Like we've got the belt dryer for the bouncing bomb here. We've got a bit of the fuselage panel and I think that's probably one of the first things we're fitting. In fact, this is a lovely piece of metal, as you can see there. And it is actually this fuselage piece that we need first. As you can see on here, we are going to be putting some windows in and these are just going to be fitting in here. This is what the lens looks like by the way. They're going to fit in over here. I don't think they're going to require glue. I will check. I'm pushing them in. They should be okay in there like that. Let me just put that to one side. And now I want to bring over this mount for the bomb. And out of these two pulleys here, I just need this smaller one. Now it is symmetrical, so it doesn't matter which side we put it in, but that's just going to be going in there like that. It's going to be held in with an SP screw. And screw this into position. Just change the lighting a little bit in here, so it's a little bit better to see. So I need to bring up the port fuselage panel, which looks just like this. This I believe came in stage 45. I'm going to be putting a little detail just at the top, which goes in here. You can glue it if you want, but it goes in quite tight. So I'm not gluing mine, but there we go. That's into place. And now we're going to be doing the first part where we're going to be putting this into the port side of the Lancaster. Let's move that to one side. So I'm going to kind of lie it down there and I'm going to want to put this into place just on here. So this is going to go on like this. We don't glue this into position. I'm just seeing how this fits. Look, that fit like a glove in there. That's perfect. So we don't use any glue in that at all. So this is actually quite free to fall out at the moment. Now this here is the starboard side panel. Now this came in stage eight, exactly the same thing. Now I believe if I put this like this, that other side is probably going to fall out. Oh no, we're okay at the moment. And again, gently just put this into place here. So as you can see, hopefully you can see they're both in on both sides. Okay, now we get to put the top down, which I believe is going to hold all of these into place. So it's a case of getting these tabs here and making sure they're tucking to each side of this fuselage. So one here. That one's in. And then turn it around and do the same on the other side. And that's inside. Now I have put a little bit of glue just on here because this doesn't want to move now. Just turn this around because I need the port side again now. Tilt that over just a touch and I've got this one here. It's this one here that I'm going to want and this is going to be going over the top. Just like this. And it should fit nice and comfortably in there. So I'm going to work this into position. And it just pushes in. You see, it's like that. It's clipping in. So that's gone in. Absolutely perfect. And then what I'm going to do is take this that we started this stage with and putting this section into the hole that I've got here. The other section is going to line up with the hole just here. Probably best on the top camera. Just there. So I'm going to hold that in with an AM screw. As you can see, that is in place there. Now we want to hide that screw hole. So I've got a little blanker here to put in just here. I can push that all the way in. And there we go. That has now hit that screw. Turn this over so I can do the other side. Again, I'm being very gentle with the guns on either side. And it's exactly the same thing. I'm going to be putting this part of the fuselage on this side here. And as you can see, that's gone on. Absolutely lovely. Now, take the bouncing bomb. I'm going to be putting that into one side here. So it's going to be able to sit in there. And then what I want to do is take the belt and the belt is going to be going over the other side here. So for now, I can just lie this down into position. Pretty much on the bomb like that, because I'm going to be putting this other side in there, which will hold the bomb into place. I'm not too worried about the belt at the moment. Once again, we're going to have an AM screw to hold this into place. As long as that belt's in there, I'm happy because we are eventually going to be putting it on that side there. So this is directional. So what I want to do is put the belt on here, just in the indent. And then get this onto the side just here. And as you can see, that fits lovely and flush in there. So there you go. The bouncing bomb is in there and the belt is going between both of those pulleys. But there you go. That belt's in place. And that is all there is to do in that stage. Now, in stage 128, things are going to start to get big because we've got decals to put on. Which we're going to be doing first off. Then we're going to be putting these lenses in here. Putting some more of the fuselage together here. We're going to have to remove some of the screws at the back here of the rear gunner position. And then putting this undercarriage in here, or actually the rear wheel here. Putting some decals along the side. And then we get to mount the wings. Connect the wires. Mount the wings. It's going to look like that. There's a lot to do in this one. So first things first, I've got my little tray here, which I use for doing decals with. And my soft cloth. And stage 128. And I'll put them just in there. So in all times we do this, the blue side of this is going to be towards the hinge section just here. And they've pretty much got it in line with this line here. So it's going to go across this one. Let me put it in and I'll show you probably the best way of where this actually goes. So I'm just going to put this on here. That's pretty much perfect. That just landed exactly where I wanted it. So that one's going to go on there like that. Let me just blot that dry. Going to do the other side here. And there we go. That's the other side on. The other ones are actually on this section here. So I'm just going to cut them off. Again, just drop them in here. And they're going to go on the same positions on the inside. Again, with the blue towards the hinge. And that gives you an idea. And just do exactly the same on the other side. Pretty handy to do this today because it's really hot in the workshop. So these decals are setting really quickly. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing to be honest with you. And there you go. That's that one on there. Okay, that's the decals on. I'm just going to move this to one side. And bring over this metal section here. Which we're going to be putting a lens in. The lens is in this bag. There's only one way this can go. So it can only go in this way. Again, make sure this is pushed fully down onto the tabs. If it is, it shouldn't fall out when you go like that. Now we don't actually need this piece at the moment. We can put that to one side. I need to bring out another piece of the fuselage though. I'm grabbing this again and turning this around. We're going to be working on this starboard side here. And I'm having it so you can see it. Because this is actually going to be going. This part of the panel that we've got here is going to be going on this side. So as you can see, we've got that in here. But we need to put this little bit just underneath this section. So to do that, I need to just loosen the screws on this side. Now lucky for me, my turret, I didn't actually glue down. So I can actually get to these quite easy. So all I'm going to do is just loosen them on this side. Actually, I'm taking them out just so I can get this in here. I'll put them back in in a second. So then this gives enough room for this to move. Put that in. Get it under there, then push it back like that. And then just put these screws back in. Now, by putting that in, this area here might pop out. Don't worry too much about that. Because when we put the top on, that's going to hold that in perfectly like that. Okay? Don't worry too much about that. We're going to repeat this on the other side. And again, don't worry about them coming out the side there like that. Okay, I've got an OM screw here. I think in the instructions it's saying use a QM screw, but it's actually an OM screw that we're using. We're actually going to be putting an OM screw into this side to hold this in. So let me just push this back into position. I'm going to get the screw through here. I'm going to get that nice and tight. Because by doing that, it's going to hold those two panels in now together. Excellent. Turn this upside down. And I have got this stage 129 part in here. Because I'm going to be putting the undercarriage in now. Which is good. Because I'm going to be putting this section in with the rear wheel on. So we don't want to glue this when we're putting it in. But what we do want to do is ensure that this end here is going to go underneath this frame just here first. So when we've got that under the frame, it's hopefully going to line everything up. Now you are going to need to do a lot of pushing in this. That section's in. It's almost all in. Look at that. That wasn't too bad actually. As long as you've got that lined up, this is going to be the hard thing. Because we're going to have to push these into the position here now. Now I'll be lying to you if I said that was easy. That wasn't easy at all. But as you can see, lovely and smooth in there. I have put a little bead of glue on here. I don't intend on taking that out. But I don't want this to pop out. Okay, we're now into position to do a little bit more decals. So I'm just going to bring this over. And now we've got the registration, which we're going to be putting on. Just let that soak in there. This is going to be going along the side just here. That was actually quite hard. Okay. That's one side done. Now the other letters just go over this back section here. Just like that. Perfect. So with that done, I'm now in a position to put the wings on. Now the wings are held in with RM screws. That's the first screws that we're going to be putting in. Now the RM screws are the flan screws here. Make sure all the wires are out here. While I put this into position over the top. And the flan screws are what's going to hold this in first. I've propped this up with one of my thermal detonators. While I get these in. I want these in to be really tight. Now I want to plug all the plugs into the plugs that they're going to go into here. So they're all labeled. So obviously B goes with B. You get the idea. C with C. And just put them all in. And there you go. They're all plugged in. Now they're plugged in. I can use HM screws. To secure the rest of this wing into place. And we need four of these. Now until I've tested all these electrics. There's no way in a million years that I'm going to. Do anything with them. Because I might have to take it all apart again. The reason being is because my wires A and J. The letters have worn off. So I might have had them connected into the wrong things. We'll check that soon. So there you go. That's one wing gone. I'm going to do exactly the same with the other wing. And there you go. That is all there is to do in that stage. So the recording time is one and a half hours. So I'm going to leave it there for now. That was crazy. And you know what? To put that underside part in was really, really hard. I got it in in the end. But at the expense of breaking one of the decals on one side. So I am going to order those at that stage again. Just so I can get the decals. But one decal set's gone on. It's just there's no decals on the other side. So at the moment, that's where we're up to. Okay, so I think the hardest bit's done now. But here comes stage 129. Which is probably the next hardest that we're going to be doing. We're going to be putting some lifters in. We're going to be putting these panels in underneath the Lancaster here. Putting this onto the base and then we're going to be testing it. Now listen, I won't be doing this bit. The reason being is because offline I've tested everything over already. So I know everything works and I don't want to tease the end result. So you do have to test it by putting it on the base. But I won't be doing that bit there. Okay, once that's in we've got all of these little tiny details in. Put the top of the wings on. Turn it over and screw those in as well. Put the top on and then pretty much by the end of this. The Lancaster as an aircraft is complete. Because in the last stage it's all about the base. As you can see. So I've got some EP screws here which I'm going to need. Let me bring the Lancaster over. Now I'm just going to put some blocks here. Just underneath this back section. Because I do need to have this upside down. And again I'm frantically trying not to. Break any guns at the back there. So let me just push this forward just a touch. Because I've got some panels to put on here. Now this shaft I've already put into place when I was doing the testing. This is what actually connects it to the base. It's just a case of plugging it in. It doesn't matter which way around we put this. Okay, so the way this goes. These are going to be going underneath here. Might take a little bit of just manipulating into the position. But one in that side. And this one is going in this side. You want to put it in this way. So you go underneath where this mechanism is for the bouncing bomb. And there you go. They're both in. Just like that. One of the flaps fall out there. But there we go. That's back in. Okay, what I need to do then is turn this over. And I'm going to be screwing it in with the EP screws from the other side. And it's going to take four of these for each panel. So now that's all in. I'm going to bring the base up. Go, the base is big. Okay, I've got the speaker cable here which I haven't plugged in yet. It plugs into this center part here. I don't know if we were meant to do that or not. But I'm putting it in now. When I was doing the tests off camera, it was far too noisy. So I took it out. There's no volume control. I don't think anyway. Okay, we've got these plastic lifters here which are going to be going into here. And here. And then I've got these little stoppers to put over the top. They're like little rubber things. Let's just go on here like that. And like that. I'm in a position now that I can actually put the Lancaster on the base. Now I've zoomed out some of my cameras. But there you go. It's on the base just like that. I need to put the propellers on now. So these just basically slide onto each engine. And there you go. That's all the props on. But on the underside of this section here where we've got these little clips. If you remember the clips that we put in here. We're going to be doing exactly the same thing just here. So I'm going to get them in now. And then in this middle bit here. I don't know if any of the cameras can see this. I've got one of these square pieces. Which I'm going to put in and then I'll get my phone camera on it. So you can see what that looks like. There we go. I hope I've got that square thing the right way around. I've got the lighter brown towards the top there. I'm going to do this on the other side. And once they're in. It's now time to make sure the wires are there. Because I'm going to be putting the wings on. So here we go. So one's on that side. I'll just put the one on this side. That's perfect. It's held in by PM screws from the other side. And we're going to need a few of these. So I need to flip this upside down. So basically we've got three places. It's hard for you to see this. But we've basically got three screw holes here. We've got three screws holes here. So there's six screws each side holding these in. All we've got then is these trim panels here to put in. We don't use glue on these. And again I've got my camera phone out here. Just to show you what that looks like when they're all in. So that's the underside now. Fully completed. I will just get off some of the little oil stains I've got here. To be honest with you it looks pretty much what a Lancaster would look like. Now at the back of the undercarriage we've got these parts going in. So I'm just going to push these in now. So as you can see they clip into there. On both sides. We're going to be putting the top cover on now. But as you see we've got some places for some lens windows here. So I'm going to be putting these into place. And they basically just go in like this. So as you can see that's it now. We're then going to put these towel things in. Now we don't use glue for these. So it's just a case of pushing them into these points here. Now if I was you I'd put some oil on here. Just to help that get in because they're really tight. But as you can see. They're in place. So the last thing to do. Some guests to put the top on. Now we do have two lenses here. Which just need to go into the positions here. And here. So I'll put them in now. Now I do think it's just meant to sit on top. So you can take this off to see what's inside. So with that in place that is pretty much the Lancaster complete. But we haven't put the cows on the engines yet. Okay I've just zoomed out the camera now. So I can show you the last stage about moving this. It's basically all the water effects. So we're going to be putting the cows on. Making this interior here. Which is going to support the base that we're about to put on. Putting the water base on just like this. Which does mean I've got to pick up the Lancaster again. Once they're in. Put the Lancaster in place. And then we're ready to test it. And that's going to be all there is to do in this build. So I'm putting the cows just in place here. Now they are labeled. So you've got L2, R2. So that's going to be going over this side. R1. And L1. And as I showed you on Friday. The Doctor Who video. This is how big the pack is for that. So for the next part. I am going to need to remove the Lancaster from the stand. And I want to put this box on here. Just like this. It has got a little notch. For the cables to come out here. Just like that. So here is the base here. Let's just get this through. So here is the base here. I'm just going to put this on top. I'm sure that's in position. Then I've got a water effect to put on. Which looks like this. Make sure that is the right way around. So if it doesn't fit one way. Just turn it over. There you go. That's the way it goes. Perfect. So then I can put these back in here. Let me just turn this around. So that on my phone. I can show you what that looks like. And then just at the front here. I've got another little bit here. Which I could stick down. I'm not going to stick it down just yet. And then obviously a water effect going here as well. But I wanted to give you an idea of how that looks. That looks great. And now let's put the link back on. And there you go. There is the finished Lancaster. How cool is that? Okay. You want to see it all working, don't you? So make sure the battery is fully charged. And then once it is click the on button. And let's look at the remote control. So first off we've got the interior lights. So I'm just blinking them on and off. Cool. Navigation lights. Over here. And over the other side here. They're on. Then we've got the spotlights. Which as you see come on underneath. They're pretty cool. So I have to come under the wings to show you the landing lights here. Cool. That's the landing gear down. As you can see. That all works. And now the engines. God. Let's see if we get this to work. That is brilliant. Look at that. Oh. I'm so happy with that. Nice. Now I adjourned outside. Because I do want to show you the turrets firing. Which are here. It's hard to see the lights. I might have to show you that at night time. But the. I did it outside. Because I forgot that I needed to glue these parts on. Which I left to the very end. And then the last thing we've got is the bouncing bomb. Which if I can just. Kind of. Show you under here. Let's focus that a little bit better. There you go. Let's get that running. That's cool. And then you do have the rear turrets as well. But. That's against the fence. I don't want to move it. Because look how big it is. Okay. Let's give you my final thoughts. Now the build's finished. I thought I'd do an epilogue about the build. Now obviously we all had problems with the undercarriage going down. But believe me. You cannot see the undercarriage. Because of the way it's actually connected to the base. You can't even physically get your head under there. So if there is some slight imperfection with how much it closes and stuff. You're never going to see it. And as you saw here. My undercarriage opens absolutely fine. The engines. Now I would have only made one detailed engine. With the cowling that you can remove to see that engine. All the rest of them. I wouldn't have put an engine in at all. I would have just had a motor go into a propeller. So that if someone wants to see the engine. They can just take that cowling off and see it. Talking about the motors. I didn't have a problem with mine. I didn't swap mine out. I know a lot of you have changed your motors to something a bit more powerful. I've used all the original parts on this. And it's been working absolutely fine as you saw. The optical fibre machine guns. I broke a set at the front. And I had to get them replaced. I broke a set at the back. And I had to get them replaced. And as you've seen in this video. I've had to make sure. That I was very meticulous to make sure that doesn't happen again. The only other thing is the size. It is absolutely ginormous. I've got no idea where it's going to at the moment. I'm keeping it sheltered outside. Because I can't fit it in the house. But I'm pleased it works. I'm pleased it works. This is the first aircraft I've built. Which I can actually demonstrate to you. Because everything's working on it. There is a couple of gaps that you might have noticed in the front wing. I just need to clamp the wing shut. And perhaps put a bit of glue on that. But other than that. I mean it fits together beautifully. But I really enjoyed this build. But three years. I think it's taken three years to do. Crazy huh? Anyway. I really hope you liked that video. If you did. Please remember to give me a thumbs up. And if you haven't subscribed already. Please remember to subscribe. Other than that. Take care. We'll be right back.
