"Thank you, Ms. Gorman. The gentleman's time has expired. I yield back, Mr. Chairman. Mr. Knott. Sorry about that. No, no. Ms. Gorman, Mr. Abraham, thank you for your testimony today. Sheriff, thank you for your service, Ms. Pierce. Thank you for being here. I, again, I say this often as the father..."

[0:00] Thank you, Ms. Gorman. [0:00] The gentleman's time has expired. [0:01] I yield back, Mr. Chairman. [0:02] Mr. Knott. [0:03] Sorry about that. [0:04] No, no. [0:05] Ms. Gorman, Mr. Abraham, thank you for your testimony today. [0:09] Sheriff, thank you for your service, Ms. Pierce. [0:10] Thank you for being here. [0:11] I, again, I say this often as the father of two precious girls, I can't imagine being [0:17] in your chair. [0:18] And I'm sorry, because, again, we have not only a refusal to apologize for the policies, [0:26] but we're trying to bake in the lie that these crimes were unavoidable. [0:33] I mean, that's the lie that no one will talk about. [0:35] Both of these crimes were avoidable. [0:38] They should never have happened. [0:40] And unfortunately for my colleagues on the other side, had President Trump been in office [0:45] from 2000 through 2024, both of your daughters would be alive. [0:53] That's the elephant in the room here. [0:56] That is the absolute elephant in the room. [0:58] I mean, the idea that these crimes are unavoidable is one of the biggest lies that I can't really [1:06] tolerate anymore. [1:08] I really can't. [1:09] I mean, look at Jose Medina, apprehended by the Border Patrol on May 9th, 2023. [1:16] He told immigration officials he did not have any fear of harm or death. [1:23] He was marked by Border Patrol as someone who was likely to abscond. [1:28] He asked to be deported to Colombia. [1:31] He could not provide any point of contact inside the United States. [1:38] But the Democrats behind Biden and Harris programmatically ushered him into the country, [1:47] paying, paying for his health care, his food, his clothing. [1:54] And my colleagues here today on the other side will not say it was avoidable. [2:03] He was arrested for theft. [2:04] He did not show up to court. [2:07] Two crimes. [2:08] Conviction. [2:09] Two crimes. [2:10] They say we don't deport anybody unless they have a conviction. [2:14] Well, it's very hard to convict someone when you don't prosecute them. [2:19] He then murdered a precious American child, a young lady, for doing nothing more than looking [2:25] at the Northern Lights. [2:26] Again, it's the biggest lie that's being told in Congress is that these crimes are unavoidable. [2:33] You know, the second case, Mr. Abraham's daughter, you said that Mr. Bull was deported once [2:42] before. [2:43] Do you know what he was deported for? [2:44] I don't know why. [2:46] I can't get that information from Illinois. [2:48] But he was using aliens. [2:49] You can't get it? [2:50] You can't get it from Illinois? [2:51] No. [2:51] I wonder why. [2:51] I can't get anything from Illinois. [2:54] But he was also using aliases. [2:56] He wasn't. [2:57] He was presenting himself as a Mexican national, not a Guatemalan national. [3:01] Federal agencies knew that. [3:03] State didn't bother checkings. [3:05] Yep. [3:06] Well, I can tell both of you I did work in the Department of Justice under President Obama, [3:10] under President Trump, and under President Biden. [3:14] And it was a programmatic effort to bring as many people into the country as they could [3:19] and to keep them here regardless of what they did. [3:22] And I do have to ask you, Ms. Pierce, one question. [3:25] You said that sanctuary jurisdictions do not prevent ICE or immigration enforcement. [3:32] Do you stand by that comment? [3:33] Yes, sir. [3:35] We have heard testimony in this committee of sanctuary jurisdictions that consider immigration [3:42] consequences before they finalize cases, before they charge cases, before they plead cases. [3:50] Are you aware of that? [3:53] Yes, sir. [3:53] Will you condemn that? [3:56] I think that both U.S. citizens and immigrants should be charged and treated. [4:02] I didn't ask that. [4:03] Will you condemn considering immigration policies before charging or resolving cases? [4:08] I don't think immigration should be a consideration when we're talking about criminal law. [4:14] Because when they do that, that does affect immigration enforcement, correct? [4:19] We're not talking about criminal law. [4:21] We're not talking about civil immigration enforcement. [4:23] I'm talking about criminal illegal immigrants, ma'am. [4:25] Someone sat in that very chair and said, I will release somebody if they're an illegal immigrant and they're charged with a serious felony. [4:35] I questioned them two weeks ago. [4:36] That would affect immigration enforcement, would it not? [4:42] ICE can pick them up either way, whether or not they're charged, sir. [4:45] Asking a Biden official to talk about border policy is pretty laughable, I've got to say so. [4:52] I think it's past time that we as Americans do stand up and say that American children are treasures. [4:58] They are unique. [4:59] Protecting them should be our foremost priority. [5:04] That's impossible when you embrace open borders. [5:08] That's impossible when you welcome people from all over the world, regardless of who they are here. [5:14] Thank you. [5:14] Thank you.
