really asserting itself against donald trump through [1:02] president lula uh extending the hand to other countries uh for multilateralism and building [1:09] alliances against donald trump in his uh go it alone or go it with putin uh approach let me show you the [1:15] moment where security was asked to leave from this press conference that was supposed to take place [1:21] let me show you this brazil which [3:40] happened at the white house just a short time ago he writes quote just concluded my meeting with the [3:46] brazilian president the very dynamic president of brazil we discussed many topics including [3:51] trade specifically tariffs the meeting went very well says president trump our reps are scheduled to [3:57] get together to discuss certain key elements additionally meetings will be scheduled over the [4:01] coming months as necessary we were hoping john that we were going to get to see the two of them [4:07] as it was sort of we were led to believe that but we did not but it sounds like the meeting went well [4:12] uh and he has parted ways and the president i believe there's i don't believe that we'll see [4:17] the president shortly then now uh david alandante spanish reporter a reporter from madrid he was in [4:23] the room here's what he said he goes from the white house with lula and trump however you look at it this [4:29] is not usual here it is relatively common for an event close to the press to end up opening uh by trump's [4:36] decision what is strange is the opposite that the press was summoned to this event it was open to the press president trump wants everybody to know the meeting went well yeah and as uh david alandante [5:45] explains something strange is happening lula and trump are meeting for the moment without cameras in [5:50] an oval office close to the press a visit loaded with underlying tensions over bolsonaro the former [5:56] insurrectionist leader of brazil uh tariffs cuba and venezuela and then when the press latin america is portrayed as a world of drug trafficking [6:39] the arab world is portrayed as a world of terrorism and who is good in this world he said [6:45] the invasion of iraq was a lie where are the weapons of mass destruction that saddam hussein [6:50] supposedly had they never were found the invasion by france and england and libya was another lie [6:55] that caused enormous damage at that moment in our history the invasion and the genocide carried [7:00] out by israel and gaza is another very big lie and now the bombing of israel against lebanon on what [7:07] pretext and now the invasion by the united states against iran on what pretext no president of a [7:13] republic of one country can interfere in another country's election ask for votes for another where [7:20] is electoral sovereignty where is territorial sovereignty lula said recently he also said stop this [7:27] dam blockade on cuba let the cuban people live their lives cuba has its problems but they are cuba's [7:34] problems not lula's not trump's not the empires and then he goes on to say we are a peaceful region [7:43] no nukes our drones are used for agriculture and science not war but if we don't prepare for defense [7:49] we will be invaded believing that the trump regime's next invasion point may be uh brazil he also said [7:58] uh the following uh or recently afp news agency explained brazil's president lula um recently banned [8:06] a u.s diplomat who wanted to visit jair bolsonaro the right-wing extremist maga insurrectionist in brazil [8:14] uh amid fears of u.s meddling uh over there um and i'll just share with you uh recently what uh lula [8:21] said as well um when donald trump imposed those tariffs on brazil unilaterally he goes trump could [8:27] have called but instead he posted the tariff news on his website a complete lack of respect which is [8:33] typical of his behavior of everyone if trump was living in brazil and had done what he did at the [8:40] capitol he would be on trial here too because here in brazil the rule of law applies equally he says [8:49] and then remember donald trump imposed 50 tariffs on brazil and then donald trump tacoed out of that [8:55] after uh continuing to attack brazil over and over again um because it was destroying the economy um [9:03] i'll remind you and then lula stood his ground i'll remind you when lula gave an interview with christian [9:08] amapur uh here's what he said right here let's play it or to make a decision and publish on the [9:13] newspaper that's not right work and that's impossible and now president trump to write a letter [9:19] and putting as a condition a precondition for negotiation no and that's very discretionary i [9:26] can't even believe in that when i read the near the letter i thought it was fake news when i saw the [9:32] letter through the media and then i thought it was a true letter that was signed by president trump [9:37] so i can reassure you that brazil in the supreme court which has issued hundreds of secret censorship orders to u.s social media platforms [11:27] threatening them with millions of dollars in fines and eviction from the brazilian social media market [11:33] starting on august 1 2025 will charge brazil a tariff of 50 percent on any and all brazilian products [11:39] sent into the united states separate from all sectoral tariff tariffs goods transship to invade [11:46] this 50 percent tariff will be subject to a higher tariff remember that phase when donald trump was [11:51] doing all of that well if it sounds familiar look what donald trump just did today as soon as that [11:56] meeting with brazil ended this is what he posted about europe remember he said he was imposing 25 [12:01] tariffs on europe but that was again crushing the market so donald trump tacoed out of this here's [12:06] what he just posted today may 7 2026 i've been waiting patiently for the eu to fulfill their side of [12:12] the historic trade deal we agreed in turnberry scotland the largest trade deal ever a promise was made [12:18] that the eu would deliver their side of the deal and as per agreement cut their tariffs to zero i have [12:24] agreed to give her until our country's 250th birthday or unfortunately their tariffs would [12:29] immediately jump to much higher levels he's doing that stick again and here's what he said
