Mr. & Mrs. Carney DECLARE “NO MORE” to Trump's Attacks

[0:00] there we go thank you in the heat of the 2025 election campaign with donald trump already [0:22] launching economic attacks on canada mark carney stepped onto a stage in london ontario [0:29] but not before his wife diana delivered one of the most compelling political introductions [0:35] of the entire race she didn't just introduce a candidate she introduced a man she had counted on [0:43] for more than 30 years calm under fire impossible to rattle and always ready to rise to the moment [0:52] then she handed him the microphone what followed was a pure carny he looked straight at the threat [0:59] coming from the white house called trump's trade war a betrayal of america's closest ally and laid [1:06] out a clear plan to fight back with counter tariffs while uniting canadians to build something stronger [1:14] this was a defining campaign moment the night the personal and the political came together [1:20] and showed the country exactly who mark carney was prepared to be my job tonight is to tell you about [1:28] someone that i know well and someone that you have got to know a little better over the past few weeks [1:34] and i think uh we can all agree that we face difficult times and we're in a constantly shifting [1:43] environment but thankfully through all of this the one thing that stays constant is my husband your [1:51] liberal leader i love it thick and thin mark remains steadfast and dedicated he's tireless and always ready [2:24] to rise to a challenge no matter what they may be in fact rising to a challenge is something of a defining [2:31] characteristic of mark faced with adversity he hits the ground running he's agile [2:40] and adaptable and he's calm and cool under fire which is always useful for me [2:48] and he draws on his incredible memory and a depth and breadth of experience which really is second to [2:54] none he tells me that one source of his mental agility is all the years and all the training he [3:02] received as a goalie he's he's always ready and though he doesn't spend quite as much time on the [3:10] ice as perhaps he used to he still has annoyingly fast reactions uh and i say annoying because in [3:18] all the years of playing pickup hockey together i have not once got a goal past him so in hockey as in [3:33] his life and his work nothing gets by him as as his partner i'm incredibly proud of him and as a canadian [3:44] i'm so grateful that he is standing strong for our country and we we've traveled together across this [4:04] great nation and it's been an enormous pleasure for both of us to connect with people like you [4:09] who come and listen to us speaking and i've watched my husband listen i've watched him learn [4:16] and i've seen that he'll never waver in his commitment to make this country better stronger [4:21] and more unified for everyone so i've been fortunate to be able to count on mark for more [4:36] than 30 years and now you can count on him too so i'm lucky to have him we're lucky to have him [4:43] without further ado my husband carney did not waste time with soft language he called trump's trade war [4:54] what it was a rupture of the global economy and a betrayal of america's closest friend and ally [5:02] no more he said this was the new reality and it demanded serious leadership in a united canada [5:10] the contrast with the chaos coming from south of the border could not have been clearer while others [5:17] offered slogans carney named the threat and called the country to meet it so happy to be back in london [5:39] i tell you i we're here during my leadership campaign february 4th we went to joe cools who's [5:50] been to joe cool who has who was there at joe cool you were there you were there my friend debbie [6:01] was there it was packed and ariel and peter were there and it was the first time i felt the feeling [6:07] that's sweeping this country of coming together not just standing up to the americans but building [6:14] a great canada thank you very much thank you i i'm going to be in trouble i haven't thanked my wife [6:24] yet thank you diana thank you diana not just not just for reading the introduction that i wrote but [6:33] for all all of her tireless work on this campaign and she has been crisscrossing the country crisscrossing [6:41] my writing hammering in signs knocking on doors making phone calls a commitment and compassion consistent [6:48] with every that she brings to everything she does so thank you diana would not be here with her and to [6:55] be in back to london back to london this beautiful vibrant city rivers greens jazz festival london nights [7:08] headed to the memorial cup you know it i'm coming back i am coming back and also home to five [7:17] amazing liberal candidates that we need in ottawa to build canada and for that to happen i have we're [7:30] at a college place of education excitement engagement and uh oh i've got the fourth thing it's on a medal [7:37] will come empowerment okay but that you get a quiz every once in a while so i have a question [7:45] i have a question who's ready who is ready who is ready to stand up for canada with me this is the right [7:57] i've come to the right place i've come to the right place and who is ready to help the liberal party [8:06] win the most consequential election and we need you we need you we need every last one of you because [8:19] president trump's trade war it has ruptured the global economy it has betrayed our country america's [8:28] neighbor america's closest friend america's steadfast ally no more no more no more this is a tragedy [8:38] it is a tragedy but it is also our new reality and because it's our reality this is a time for [8:47] serious leadership and a united canada then carney moved from diagnosis to action he promised [8:59] counter tariffs calibrated to inflict maximum damage in the united states while protecting canadian [9:06] workers every dollar collected would be used to support those most affected and above all he issued a [9:13] call to unite and build this was not passive resistance this was a leader laying out a strategy of [9:22] strength reciprocity and national purpose london ontario heard it loud and clear canada would not [9:32] simply absorb the blows we need to come together to fight to protect and to build [9:39] as if by magic as if by magic the signs appear we will fight trump's tariffs with counter tariffs of [9:51] our own that will cause maximum damage in the united states with minimum impact here in canada and that's [9:57] what we're doing they're already complaining about we will protect our workers and the businesses that [10:05] are most affected we will use every single dollar that we collect from our retaliatory tariffs to protect [10:11] those workers and above all and above all above all in london in london in ontario in london in ontario we [10:28] need to unite to build we need to unite to build canada strong you know building big very nice yeah very [10:43] nice there we go thank you diana carney's introduction revealed the personal foundation mark carney's speech [11:07] revealed the political one together they
