[0:00] Late last night and early today, at my direction, the United States Armed Forces [0:09] conducted an extraordinary military operation in the capital of Venezuela. [0:18] Overwhelming American military power, air, land, and sea, was used to launch a spectacular assault. [0:27] And it was an assault like people have not seen since World War II. [0:32] It was a force against a heavily fortified military fortress in the heart of Caracas [0:40] to bring outlaw dictator Nicolas Maduro to justice. [0:45] This was one of the most stunning, effective, and powerful displays of American military might [0:54] and competence in American history. [0:59] And if you think about it, we've done some other good ones like the attack on Soleimani, [1:07] the attack on al-Baghdadi. [1:11] And the obliteration and decimation of the Iran nuclear sites just recently [1:20] in an operation known as Midnight Hammer, all perfectly executed and done. [1:30] No nation in the world could achieve what America achieved yesterday, [1:35] or frankly, in just a short period of time. [1:40] All Venezuelan military capacities were rendered powerless [1:45] as the men and women of our military working with U.S. law enforcement [1:48] successfully captured Maduro in the dead of night. [1:54] It was dark. [1:57] The lights of Caracas were largely turned off due to a certain expertise that we have. [2:07] It was dark, and it was deadly. [2:10] But captured along with his wife, Celia Flores, both of whom now face American justice. [2:24] Maduro and Flores have been indicted in the Southern District, [2:27] the District of New York, J. Clayton, for their campaign of deadly [2:33] narco-terrorism against the United States and its citizens. [2:38] I want to thank the men and women of our military who achieved such an extraordinary success overnight [2:44] with breathtaking speed, power, precision, and competence. [2:48] You rarely see anything like it. [2:51] You've seen some raids in this country that didn't go so well. [2:54] They were an embarrassment. [2:56] If you look back to Afghanistan or if you look back to the Jimmy Carter days, [3:03] they were different days. [3:04] We're a respected country again, maybe like never before. [3:10] These highly trained warriors operating in collaboration with U.S. law enforcement [3:15] caught them in a very ready position. [3:19] They were waiting for us. [3:20] They knew. [3:20] We had many ships out in the sea. [3:24] We were just sort of waiting. [3:26] They knew we were coming. [3:27] So, they were in a ready…what's called a ready position, [3:31] but they were completely overwhelmed and very quickly incapacitated. [3:37] If you would have seen what I saw last night, you would have been very impressed. [3:42] I'm not sure that you'll ever get to see it, but it was an incredible thing to see. [3:47] Not a single American service member was killed, and not a single piece of American equipment [3:53] was lost. [3:55] We had many helicopters, many planes, many, many people involved in that fight. [4:02] But think of that. [4:03] Not one piece of military equipment was lost. [4:05] Not one service member was, more importantly, killed. [4:10] The United States military is the strongest and most fearsome military on the planet by [4:15] far. [4:16] With capabilities and skills, our enemies can scarcely begin to imagine. [4:22] We have the best equipment anywhere in the world. [4:25] There's no equipment like what we have. [4:26] And you see that even if you just look at the boats. [4:30] You know, we've knocked out 97 percent of the drugs coming in by sea, 90 percent. [4:36] Each boat kills 25, on average, 25,000 people. [4:40] We knocked out 97 percent. [4:43] And those drugs mostly come from a place called Venezuela. [4:47] We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious [4:56] transition. [4:57] So, we don't want to be involved with having somebody else get in and we have the same [5:04] situation that we had for the last long period of years. [5:07] So, we are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and [5:13] judicious transition. [5:15] And it has to be done. [5:16] Thank you. [5:17] be judicious, because that's what we're all about. [5:22] We want peace, liberty, and justice for the great people of Venezuela. [5:28] And that includes many from Venezuela that are now living in the United States and want [5:33] to go back to their country. [5:36] It's their homeland. [5:38] We can't take a chance that somebody else takes over Venezuela that doesn't have the [5:43] good of the Venezuelan people in mind. [5:45] We've had decades of that. [5:49] We're not going to let that happen. [5:53] We're there now. [5:55] And what people don't understand, but they understand as I say this, we're there now, [6:01] but we're going to stay until such time as the proper transition can take place. [6:08] So we're going to stay until such time as we're going to run it, essentially, until [6:12] such time as a proper transition can take place. [6:17] As everyone knows, the oil business in Venezuela has been a bust, a total bust, for a long [6:22] period of time. [6:24] They were pumping almost nothing by comparison. [6:27] They were pumping almost nothing by comparison to what they could have been pumping and what [6:31] could have taken place. [6:34] We're going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere [6:40] in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil [6:48] infrastructure, and start making money for the country. [6:53] And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so, so we were [7:01] prepared to do a second wave if we needed to do so. [7:09] We actually assumed that a second wave would be necessary, but now it's probably not. [7:15] The first wave, if you'd like to call it that, the first attack was so successful we probably [7:20] don't have to do a second, but we're prepared to do a second wave, a much bigger wave, actually. [7:27] This was pinpoint, but we have a much bigger wave that we probably won't have to do. [7:33] This partnership of Venezuela with the United States of America. [7:36] A country that everybody wants to be involved with because of what we were able to do and [7:42] accomplish will make the people of Venezuela rich, independent, and safe. [7:49] And it will also make the many, many people from Venezuela that are living in the United [7:55] States extremely happy. [7:57] They suffered. [7:58] They suffered. [7:59] So much was taken from them. [8:01] They're not going to suffer anymore. [8:04] The illegitimate dictator Maduro was the kingpin of a vast criminal network. [8:07] He was the kingpin of the United States. [8:08] He was responsible for trafficking colossal amounts of deadly and illicit drugs into the [8:14] United States. [8:16] As alleged in the indictment, he personally oversaw the vicious cartel known as Cartel [8:23] de las Solas, which flooded our nation with lethal poison responsible for the deaths of [8:30] countless Americans, the many, many Americans, hundreds of thousands over the years of Americans [8:36] died because of him. [8:38] Maduro and his wife were killed. [8:39] They were killed. [8:39] They were killed. [8:41] They were killed. [8:42] And the people of Venezuela will soon face the full might of American justice and stand [8:48] trial on American soil. [8:51] Right now they're on a ship. [8:52] They'll be heading to ultimately New York, and then a decision will be made, I assume, [8:58] between New York and Miami or Florida. [9:04] But we have people where the overwhelming evidence of their crimes will be presented in a court of law. [9:16] It's both horrible and breathtaking that something like this could have been allowed to take place. [9:21] For many years after his term as president of Venezuela, expired Maduro remained in power and waged a ceaseless campaign of violence, terror and subversion against the United States of America, threatening not only our people, but the stability of the entire region. [9:41] And you all saw it. In addition to trafficking gigantic amounts of illegal drugs that inflicted untold suffering and human destruction all over the country, all over in particular the United States, Maduro sent savage and murderous gangs, including the bloodthirsty prison gang, Tren de Aragua, to terrorize American communities nationwide. [10:05] And he did indeed. They were in Colorado. They took over apartment complexes. [10:11] They cut the fingers off people if they could. [10:13] They were brutal, but they're not so brutal now. [10:19] And I just have to congratulate our military, Pete, and everybody in our National Guard, because the job that they've done, whether it's in Washington, D.C., where we have a totally safe city, where it was one of the most unsafe cities anywhere in the world, frankly, and now we have no crime in Washington, D.C. [10:39] We haven't had a killing. We had the terrorist attack a few weeks ago. [10:46] A little bit of a murder. [10:47] A little bit of a murder. [10:47] A little bit of a different kind of a threat, but we haven't had a killing in a long period of time, six, seven months. [10:55] We used to have two, on average, two a week in Washington, our capital. [11:00] We don't have that anymore. [11:02] The restaurants are opening. [11:03] Everyone's happy. [11:05] They're going. [11:05] They're walking their daughters. [11:06] They're walking their children, their wives. [11:09] They walk to restaurants. [11:11] Restaurants are opening all over Washington, D.C. [11:14] So I want to thank the National Guard. [11:16] I want to thank our military, and I want to thank law enforcement. [11:19] It's been amazing. [11:21] And they should do it with more cities. [11:22] We're doing it, as you know, and we're doing it in Memphis, Tennessee right now, and crime is down. [11:29] We've just sort of started a few weeks ago, but crime is down now 77 percent. [11:35] And the governor of Louisiana called, a great person, and he wanted us to help him, as you know, [11:42] in a certain very nice part of Louisiana, and we have done that. [11:49] It was a rough section, and we have. [11:53] Crime down. [11:54] I understand it's down to almost nothing already after two and a half weeks. [11:59] New Orleans, it's down to almost nothing, and we've only been there for two and a half weeks. [12:05] Can't imagine why governors wouldn't want us to help. [12:08] We also helped, as you know, in Chicago, and crime went down a little bit there. [12:12] We did a very small help because we had no working ability with the governor. [12:20] The governor was a disaster, and the mayor was a disaster, but it knocked down crime. [12:24] But we're pulling out. [12:25] We're pulling out of there when they need us. [12:27] We'll know. [12:28] You'll know. [12:28] You'll be writing about it. [12:30] And likewise, Los Angeles, where we saved Los Angeles early on, where the head of the police department made a statement that if the federal government didn't come in, we would have lost Los Angeles. [12:43] That's after, long after the fires. [12:45] That's when they had the riots in Los Angeles. [12:47] We did a great job. [12:48] Got no credit for it whatsoever, but that's okay. [12:50] It doesn't matter. [12:50] We don't need the credit. [12:51] But we'll be pulling out when they need us. [12:55] They'll call, or we'll go back. [12:56] If we have to, we'll go back. [12:58] But we did a great job in various cities. [13:02] But the thing, the place that we're very proud of is Washington, D.C., because it's our nation's capital. [13:06] We took it from being a crime-ridden mess to being one of the safest cities in the country. [13:12] But the gangs that they sent raped, tortured, and murdered American women and children, they were in all of the cities I mentioned. [13:21] And they were sent by Maduro to terrorize. [13:27] They were sent by Maduro to terrorize. [13:28] And now Maduro will never again be able to threaten an American citizen or anybody from Venezuela. [13:36] There will no longer be threats. [13:39] For years, I've highlighted the stories of those innocent Americans whose lives were so heartlessly robbed by this Venezuelan terrorist organization. [13:49] Really one of the worst. [13:51] One of the worst. [13:51] They say the worst. [13:53] Americans like 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungary from Houston. [13:57] Beautiful Jocelyn Nungary. [13:59] What happened to her? [14:04] They, as you know, they kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered by Tren de Aragua animals. [14:11] They murdered Jocelyn and left her dead under the bridge. [14:17] There was a bridge, a bridge that will never be the same to so many people after seeing what happened. [14:25] As I've said many times, the Maduro regime emptied out their prisons, sent their worst and most violent monsters into the United States to steal American lives. [14:35] And they came from mental institutions and insane asylums. [14:40] They came from prisons and jails. [14:43] The reason I say both, they sound similar. [14:45] Actually, prisons, a little bit more, a little bit more hostile, a little bit tougher. [14:52] A mental institution isn't as tough as an insane asylum. [14:56] But we got them both. [14:58] They sent from their mental institutions. [15:00] They sent from their jails, prisons. [15:02] They were drug dealers. [15:04] They were drug kingpins. [15:05] They sent everybody bad into the United States. [15:07] States, but no longer. And we have now a border where nobody gets through. In addition, Venezuela [15:15] unilaterally seized and sold American oil, American assets, and American platforms, costing us [15:24] billions and billions of dollars. They did this a while ago, but we never had a president that [15:30] did anything about it. They took all of our property. It was our property. We built it. [15:35] And we never had a president that decided to do anything about it. Instead, they fought wars that [15:42] were 10,000 miles away. We built Venezuela oil industry with American talent, drive, and skill, [15:51] and the socialist regime stole it from us during those previous administrations, [15:58] and they stole it through force. This constituted one of the largest thefts of American property [16:04] in the history of our country. Consider the largest theft of property in the history of [16:08] our country. [16:08] Massive oil infrastructure was taken like we were babies, and we didn't do anything about it. [16:15] I would have done something about it. America will never allow foreign powers to rob our people or [16:21] drive us back into and out of our own hemisphere. That's what they did. Furthermore, under the now [16:30] deposed dictator Maduro, Venezuela was increasingly hosting foreign adversaries in our region [16:35] and acquiring menacing offensive weapons that could threaten U.S. [16:40] interests and lives. And they used those weapons, [16:42] last night. They used those weapons last night, potentially in league with the cartels operating [16:48] along our border. All of these actions were in gross violation of the core principles of American [16:54] foreign policy, dating back more than two centuries, and not anymore. All the way back, [17:03] it dated to the Monroe Doctrines, and the Monroe Doctrine is a big deal, but we've superseded it by [17:13] a lot, by a real lot. [17:17] They now call it the Donro Document. I don't know. It's a Monroe Doctrine. We sort of forgot about it. [17:25] It was very important, but we forgot about it. We don't forget about it anymore. Under our new national [17:30] security strategy, American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never be questioned again. [17:37] Won't happen. So just in concluding, for decades, other administrations have neglected or even [17:44] contributed to these growing security threats in the Western Hemisphere. [17:49] Under the [17:50] Trump administration, we are reasserting American power in a very powerful way in our home region. [17:58] And our home region is very different than it was just a short while ago. The future will be – and [18:04] we did this in my first term. We had great dominance in my first term, and we have far [18:10] greater dominance right now. Everyone's coming back to us. The future will be determined [18:15] by the ability to protect commerce and territory and resources that are core to our [18:22] national security. These are core to our national security. Just like tariffs are – they've made our [18:30] country rich, and they've made our national security strong – stronger than ever before. But these are [18:38] the iron laws that have always determined global power. And we're going to keep it that way. We will [18:45] secure our borders. We will stop the terrorists. We will crash the cartels. And we will defend our [18:53] citizens against all of this. And we're going to keep it that way. We're going to keep it that way. [18:54] So I'm going to hell with those whole threats, foreign and domestic. Other presidents may have [18:58] lacked the courage – or whatever – to defend America. But I will never allow terrorists [19:04] and criminals to operate with impunity against the United States. [19:09] This extremely successful operation should serve as warning to anyone who would threaten [19:14] American sovereignty or endanger American lives. Very importantly, the embargo on all [19:20] Venezuelan oil remains in full effect. The American armada remains poor哦 [19:26] is in full effect, the American armada remains poor ... [19:26] … for a language problem – for a language problem … [19:26] for a language problem America is suffering, and we desire revenge, and Inityak is drawin' [19:26] revenge, and I even do not intend to much in 느nyipه [19:27] lé meñ Sign up lé Iinyyeh lé إن eé taxes Bar Keer galá, Chi Oohan lé Iwydd lè Aetherlacht Perry's [19:27] poised, in position, and the United States retains all military options until United [19:32] States demands have been fully met and fully satisfied. [19:37] All political and military figures in Venezuela should understand what happened to Maduro [19:43] can happen to them, and it will happen to them if they aren't just, fair, even to [19:50] their people. [19:52] The dictator and terrorist Maduro is finally gone in Venezuela. [19:58] People are free. [19:59] They're free again. [20:00] It's been a long time for them, but they're free. [20:04] America is a safer nation. [20:07] This morning, it's a prouder nation this morning because it didn't allow this horrible [20:13] person and this country that was doing very bad things to us. [20:19] It didn't allow it to happen. [20:21] And the Western Hemisphere is right now a much safer place to be. [20:25] So I want to thank everybody for being here. [20:28] I want to thank General Raisin Cane. [20:30] He's fantastic. [20:31] Man, I've worked with a lot of generals. [20:34] I worked with some I didn't like. [20:35] I worked with some I didn't respect. [20:37] I worked with some that just weren't good. [20:40] But this guy is fantastic. [20:42] I watched last night one of the most precise attacks on sovereignty. [20:48] I mean, it was an attack for justice. [20:52] And I'm very proud of him, and I'm very proud of our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, [20:56] who I'm going to ask to say a few words. [20:59] Thank you very much. [21:02] Explain how the U.S. will run Venezuela. [21:04] Well, thank you, Mr. President. [21:06] Finally, a Commander-in-Chief the world respects and the American people deserve. [21:11] And as the President said, words can barely capture the bravery and the power and the [21:17] precision of this historic operation, a massive joint military and law enforcement raid flawlessly [21:22] executed by the greatest Americans our country has to offer. [21:28] American warriors are second to none, the best in the world and the best of our country. [21:34] What I, what all of us witnessed last night was sheer guts. [21:37] And grit, gallantry, and glory of the American warrior. [21:43] I'm simply humbled by such men, such men. [21:47] And I tip my hat to our Chairman, Dan Raisin-Kane, and all those Americans who stood watch last [21:53] night. [21:54] Our warriors are the elite of America, and again, President Trump has your back. [22:00] No other country on planet Earth, and it's not even close, could pull this kind of operation [22:05] off. [22:06] And no other president has ever shown this kind of leadership. [22:09] Leadership, courage, and resolve, the most powerful combination the world has ever seen. [22:17] As the President said, our adversaries remain on notice. [22:20] America can project our will anywhere, anytime. [22:25] The coordination, the stealth, the lethality, the precision, the very long arm of American [22:30] justice, all on full display in the middle of the night. [22:35] Nicolas Maduro had his chance, just like Iran had their chance. [22:41] Until they didn't. [22:42] He heffed around, and he found out. [22:48] President Trump is deadly serious about stopping the flow of gangs and violence to our country. [22:54] Deadly serious about stopping the flow of drugs and poison to our people. [22:59] Deadly serious about getting back the oil that was stolen from us. [23:04] And deadly serious about reestablishing American deterrents and dominance in the Western Hemisphere. [23:10] This is about the safety, security, freedom, and prosperity of the American people. [23:16] This is America first. [23:20] This is peace through strength. [23:22] And the United States War Department is proud to help deliver it. [23:27] Welcome to 2026. [23:30] And under President Trump, America is back. [23:34] I'd like to welcome now our Chairman, Chairman Raisyn Kaine, to give a few more details about the operation. [23:41] Mr. Chairman. [23:44] Thank you. [23:45] Thank you, Mr. Secretary. [23:46] Thank you, Mr. President. [23:48] And good morning. [23:49] Last night, on the order of the President of the United States, Mr. President, I was at the White House. [23:50] I was at the White House. [23:51] I was at the White House. [23:52] I was at the White House. [23:52] And in support of a request from the Department of Justice, as the President said, the United States military conducted an apprehension mission in Caracas, Venezuela, to bring to justice two indicted persons, Nicolas and Cecilia Maduro. [24:06] This operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, was discreet, precise, and conducted during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal, an operation that, frankly, [24:22] this operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, was discreet, precise, and conducted during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal, an operation that, frankly, [24:23] this operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, was discreet, precise, and conducted during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal, an operation that, frankly, [24:23] this operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, was discreet, precise, and conducted during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal, an operation that, frankly, [24:24] this operation, known as Operation Absolute Resolve, was discreet, precise, and conducted during the darkest hours of January 2nd and was the culmination of months of planning and rehearsal, an operation that, frankly, [24:26] to do this morning is talk to you through some of the preparation and the [24:29] details without compromising any of our tactics, techniques, and procedures. There [24:35] is always a chance that we'll be tasked to do this type of mission again. Our [24:41] interagency work began months ago and built on decades of experience of [24:45] integrating complex air, ground, space, and maritime operations. While the past two [24:52] decades have honed the skills of our Special Operations Forces, this [24:56] particular mission required every component of our joint force, with [25:01] soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Guardians working in unison with our [25:07] intelligence agency partners and law enforcement teammates in an unprecedented [25:11] operation. We leveraged our unmatched intelligence capabilities and our years [25:18] of experience in hunting terrorists, and we could not have done this without [25:22] the incredible work by various intelligence agencies including the CIA, [25:27] NSA and NGA. We watched. We waited. We prepared. We remained patient and [25:35] professional. This mission was meticulously planned drawing lessons [25:40] from decades of missions over the last many years, decades of many missions over [25:46] these last many years. This was an audacious operation that only the United [25:51] States, America, and Japan could manage. [25:53] States could do. It required the utmost of precision and integration within our [25:59] joint force and the word integration does not explain the sheer complexity of [26:05] such a mission. An extraction so precise it involved more than 150 aircraft [26:12] launching across the Western Hemisphere in close coordination all coming [26:18] together in time and place to layer effects for a single purpose to get an [26:25] interdiction force into downtown Caracas while maintaining the element of [26:31] tactical surprise. Failure of one component of this well-oiled machine [26:36] would have endangered the entire mission and failure is never an option for [26:42] America's joint force. Those in the air over Caracas last night were willing to [26:48] give their lives to the American joint force. [26:49] They were willing to sacrifice their lives for those on the ground and in the [26:51] helicopters. Let me talk a little bit about the preparation. After months of [26:57] work by our intelligence teammates to find Maduro and understand how he moved, [27:02] where he lived, where he traveled, what he ate, what he wore, what were his pets, in [27:09] early December our force was set pending a series of aligned events. Key was [27:17] choosing the right day to minimize the potential [27:20] for civilian harm and maximize the element of surprise and minimize the [27:26] harm to the indicted personnel so as the president said they could be brought to [27:31] justice. And as the president said earlier today weather in Venezuela is [27:37] always a factor this time of the year and over the weeks through Christmas and [27:42] New Year's the men and women of the United States military sat ready [27:46] patiently waiting for the right triggers to be met and the president's [27:51] order us into action. Last night the weather broke just enough clearing a [27:56] path that only the most skilled aviators in the world could maneuver through [28:02] ocean, mountain, low clouds, ceilings, but when tasked with a mission this [28:09] organization does not quit. At 1046 p.m. Eastern Time last night the president [28:16] ordered the United States military to move forward with this mission. He said [28:21] to us and we appreciated it, [28:22] Mr. President, good luck and Godspeed and those words were transmitted to the [28:27] entire joint force. Over the course of the night aircraft began launching from [28:32] 20 different bases on land and sea across the Western Hemisphere. In total [28:38] more than a hundred and fifty aircraft, bombers, fighters, intelligence, [28:43] reconnaissance, surveillance, rotary wing were in the air last night. Thousands and [28:48] thousands of hours of experience were airborne. [28:52] Our oldest crew member was 20 and our oldest crew member was 49 and they're [28:57] simply no match for American military might. As the night began the helicopters [29:02] took off with the extraction force which included law enforcement officers and [29:07] began their flight into Venezuela at a hundred feet above the water. As they [29:12] approach Venezuelan shores the United States began layering different effects [29:16] provided by Space Comm, Cyber Comm and other members of the interagency to [29:21] create a pathway. [29:23] Overhead the [29:23] forces were protected from aircraft were protected by aircraft from the United [29:28] States Marines, the United States Navy, the United States Air Force and the Air [29:33] National Guard. The force included F-22s, F-35s, F-18s, EA-18s, E-2s, B-1 bombers and [29:43] other support aircraft as well as numerous remotely piloted drones. As the [29:48] force began to approach Caracas the joint air component began dismantling [29:53] and disabling the air defense systems in Venezuela. Employing weapons to ensure [30:00] the safe passage of the helicopters into the target area. The goal of our air [30:06] component is, was and always will be to protect the helicopters and the ground [30:13] force and get them to the target and get them home. As the force crossed the last [30:20] point of high-terrain where they'd been hiding in the clutter we [30:24] we assessed that we had maintained totally [30:27] the element of surprise. [30:29] As the helicopter force ingress towards the objective [30:33] at low level, we arrived at Maduro's compound [30:36] at 1.01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time [30:40] or 2.01 a.m. Caracas Local Time. [30:43] And the apprehension force descended into Maduro's compound [30:47] and moved with speed, precision, and discipline [30:51] towards their objective and isolated the area [30:54] to ensure the safety and security of the ground force [30:57] while apprehending the indicted persons. [31:01] On arrival into the target area, [31:03] the helicopters came under fire [31:05] and they replied with that fire [31:06] with overwhelming force and self-defense. [31:09] One of our aircraft was hit, but remained flyable. [31:12] And as the president said earlier today, [31:14] all of our aircraft came home [31:16] and that aircraft remained flyable [31:17] during the rest of the mission. [31:20] As the operation unfolded at the compound, [31:22] our air and ground intelligence teams [31:25] provided real-time, [31:25] real-time updates to the ground force, [31:28] ensuring those forces could safely navigate [31:30] the complex environment without unnecessary risk. [31:34] The force remained protected by overhead tactical aviation. [31:39] Maduro and his wife, both indicted, gave up [31:42] and were taken into custody by the Department of Justice, [31:46] assisted by our incredible U.S. military [31:48] with professionalism and precision, [31:51] with no loss of U.S. life. [31:55] After securing the indicted persons, [31:57] the force began to prep for departure. [31:59] Helicopters were called in to exfiltrate the extraction force [32:04] while fighter aircraft and remotely piloted aircraft [32:07] provided overhead coverage and suppressive fire. [32:10] There were multiple self-defense engagements [32:14] as the force began to withdraw out of Venezuela. [32:17] The force successfully exfiltrated [32:21] and returned to their afloat launch bases. [32:24] And the force was over the water at 3.29, [32:27] Eastern Standard Time, [32:30] with indicted persons on board. [32:32] And both Maduro and his wife were embarked [32:35] aboard the USS Ujima. [32:38] In closing, what we've witnessed today [32:41] is a powerful demonstration of America's joint force. [32:46] We think, we develop, we train, we rehearse, [32:51] we debrief, we rehearse again and again, [32:55] not to get it right, but to ensure that we cannot, [32:59] get it wrong. [33:01] Our jobs are to integrate combat power [33:04] so when the order comes, [33:06] we can deliver overwhelming force [33:09] at the time and the place of our choosing [33:12] against any foe anywhere in the world. [33:16] I am immensely proud today of our joint force [33:21] and filled with gratitude to represent them here today. [33:24] There is simply no mission too difficult [33:28] for these incredible professionals, [33:30] and the families that stand by them and support them as we stand here this morning our forces [33:36] remain in the region at a high state of readiness prepared to project power defend themselves and [33:45] our interests in the region this operation is a testament to the dedication and unwavering [33:52] commitment to justice and our resolve to hold accountable those who threaten peace and stability [33:59] in closing i want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the brave men and women who [34:05] executed this mission their courage and tireless commitment to our nation are what makes us strong [34:12] thank you mr secretary and thank you mr president well i don't have much to add to what you've heard [34:20] now other than the following points nicholas maduro was indicted in 2020 in the united states [34:26] he is not the legitimate president of venezuela that's not just us saying it the first trump [34:30] administration the biden administration the second trump administration the second trump [34:33] administration none of those three recognize them he's not recognized by the european union [34:37] in multiple countries around the world he is a fugitive of american justice with a 50 million [34:42] dollar reward uh which i guess we saved 50 million dollars and uh make sure yeah exactly but don't [34:49] let anybody claim it nobody deserves it but us but i want to be clear about one thing nicholas [34:55] maduro had multiple opportunities to avoid this he was provided multiple very very very [35:00] generous offers and chose instead to act like a wild [35:03] man chose instead to play around and the result is what we saw tonight uh the other message here [35:09] is the following you have a guy like many people around the world they like to play games you have [35:13] a guy who decides he's going to invite iran into his country is going to you know do the [35:18] confiscation of american oil companies is going to flood our country with gang members is is going to [35:23] take americans prisoner and try to hold them for hostage and trade him like he was able to do with [35:27] the biden administration basically likes to play games all this time and thinks nothing's going to [35:31] happen and i hope what people now want to know is that the president of the united states is not a [35:34] game player he's not a game player he's not a game player he's not a game player he's not a game player [35:34] we have a president the 47th president united states is not a game player when he tells you [35:39] that he's going to do something when he's good tells you he's going to address a problem he [35:43] means it he actions it i i can tell you i've watched this process now for 14 15 years been [35:48] around it everybody talks i'm going to do this i'm going to do that when i get there we're going [35:51] to do this we're going to take this is a president of action like i don't understand yet how they [35:55] haven't figured this out and now if you don't know now you know because this is the way it's going to [36:00] play out and i think people need to understand that this is not a president that just talks and [36:04] talks even when a president does too much when they've been under pressure for years and years [36:08] and years and years and years to really help the people and people are not saying anything [36:11] about this one-on-one-just saying it and it's not the same thing you know and even though i've [36:13] talked with these guys several times and i've been in this kind of community with a lot of people [36:16] because i've had people come up to me and say you know i don't understand why the president [36:17] would be so serious about this and you know that's how we talk you know about letters and [36:19] press conferences and you know if he says he's serious about something he means it and and this [36:23] is something that was a direct threat to the national interest of the united states and the [36:26] president addressed it there's a president of peace by the way i told you what i just said [36:29] earlier this guy had multiple opportunities to find his way somewhere else and figure out another he [36:34] for people to pick fights with he's not generally wants to get along with everybody we'll talk and [36:39] meet with anybody but don't play games don't play games with this president's in office because it's [36:44] not going to turn out well and so i hope that uh you know um you know i guess uh that lesson was [36:51] learned last night and uh and we hope it'll be instructive moving forward is that message for [36:55] cuba mr president mr president mr president mr president mr president mr president you said [37:02] that the us is going to run venezuela so who's in power right now well we're going to be running it [37:07] with a group and we're going to make sure it's run properly we're going to rebuild the oil [37:11] infrastructure which will cost billions of dollars it'll be paid for by the oil companies directly [37:18] they will be reimbursed for what they're doing but that's going to be paid and we're going to [37:24] get the oil flowing the way it should be as you know it was just a minor flow it was actually [37:28] a minor flow for what they have but we're going to run it properly and we're going to make sure [37:32] the people are going to be able to get the oil flowing the way it should be but we're going to [37:32] make sure the people of venezuela are taken care of we're going to make sure the people that were [37:36] forced out of venezuela by this thug are also taken care of president does the u.s running the [37:46] country mean that u.s troops will be on the ground how will that work well you know they always say [37:50] boots on the ground oh so we're not afraid of boots on the ground if we have to have we had [37:54] boots on the ground last night at a very high level actually we're not afraid of it we're we [38:00] don't mind saying it but we're going to make sure that that country is run properly we're not doing [38:05] this in vain this is not this is a very dangerous attack this is an attack that could have gone very [38:10] very badly could have been very badly we could have lost a lot of people last night we could have [38:15] lost a lot of uh dignity we could have lost a lot of equipment the equipment is less important but [38:21] we could have lost a lot and we're going to make sure that this is proper we're there now we're [38:27] ready to go again if we have to we're going to run the country right it's going to be run very uh [38:34] judiciously very [38:35] fairly it's going to make a lot of money we're going to give money to the people we're going to [38:40] reimburse people that we're taking advantage of we're going to take care of everybody it's very [38:46] important we couldn't let them get away with it you know they stole our oil we we built that whole [38:52] industry there and they just took it over like we were nothing and we had a president that decided [38:57] not to do anything about it so uh we did something about it we're late but we did something about it [39:03] yeah please [39:05] it's the exact mechanism by which you're going to run the country are you going to designate it [39:09] yes yes it's all being it's all being done right now we're designating people we're talking to [39:14] people we're designating uh various people and we're going to let you know who those people are [39:19] that would run venezuela well it's largely going to be for a period of time the people that are [39:26] standing right behind me we're going to be running it we're going to be bringing it back it's a it's [39:30] a dead you know i talk about a dead country a year and a half ago we were a dead country now we're [39:37] a dead country anywhere in the world we're a country doing better than any country anywhere [39:42] in the world and it required leadership venezuela has a lot of bad people in there a lot of bad [39:49] people that shouldn't be leading we're not going to take a chance that one of those people [39:53] take over for maduro so you can look at and and others we have fantastic people including [39:59] people in the military so we're going to have a group of people running it until such time as it [40:04] can be put back on track [40:06] you're saying [40:06] the people and give people a great way of life and also reimbursement for people in our country that [40:12] were forced out of venezuela would be you said earlier today that you weren't going to back [40:19] machado to come back and be the opposition leader in your fox and friends interview and then you [40:23] also mentioned the vice president of venezuela are you going to work with vice president of venezuela [40:27] or how do you foresee the relationship she was just sworn in but she was as you know picked by [40:33] maduro so marco's working on that directly just had a conversation with her and she's essentially [40:40] willing to do what we think is necessary to make venezuela great again very simple mr president uh [40:48] so uh colombian president gustavo petro uh you know a couple weeks ago you said he's got to watch [40:52] his ass um and today he said he's not concerned about anything happening to him in the aftermath [40:57] of this operation so uh just what your message is well he has cocaine mills he has uh factories [41:02] where he makes cocaine [41:04] and yeah i think i stick by my first statement he's making cocaine they're sending it into the [41:09] united states so he does have to watch his ass mr president did you notify any members of congress [41:16] in advance marco do you want to talk about that because you were involved we call members of [41:21] congress immediately after this was not the kind of mission that you can do congressional [41:24] notification on it was a trigger-based mission in which conditions had to be met night after [41:28] night we watched and monitored that for a number of days so it's just simply not the kind of [41:32] mission you can call people and say hey we may do this it's [41:34] not the kind of mission you can call people and say hey we may do this it's not the kind of mission [41:36] you can call people and say hey we may do this it's not the kind of mission you can call people [41:36] but it's largely a law enforcement function remember at the end of day at its core [41:40] this was an arrest of two indicted fugitives of american justice and the department of war [41:45] supported the department of justice in that job now there are broader policy implications here [41:50] but it's just not the kind of mission that you can pre-notify because it endangers the mission [41:56] plus if i could add one thing to that congress has a tendency to leak this would not be good [42:03] if they leaked general i think it would have been maybe a very different result [42:07] but i i have to say they knew we were coming at some point you know a lot of ships out there they [42:12] sort of knew we were coming we weren't but but congress congress will leak and we don't want [42:17] leakers you were one of the only people to watch this all play out live what was maduro doing [42:24] when the u.s forces entered what i assume would be his home and also was there any point where [42:29] the u.s was considering if maduro pushed back or resisted killing maduro it could have happened [42:35] it could have happened he was trying to get into a [42:37] place you know the safe place is all steel and he wasn't able to make it to the door because our [42:43] guys were so fast they went through the opposition so fast and there was a lot of opposition you know [42:49] people were wondering do we get them by surprise sort of surprised but they were waiting for [42:54] something it was a lot of opposition there was a lot of gunfire you saw some of it today but he was [43:00] trying to get to his safe place which wasn't safe because we would have had the door blown up in [43:06] about 47 [43:07] i think 47 seconds they say on average regardless of how thick the steel was [43:13] it was a very thick door it was a very heavy door but he was unable to get [43:17] to that door he made it to the door he was unable to close it [43:23] where is maduro going to be in the time being right now do you know his exactly [43:27] well eventually ultimately in the near future he's going to be brought to new york and where [43:31] is he going to be where is he going to be held in new york that's going to be up to [43:35] the officials that do these things mr president mr president mr president [43:38] The U.S. has something of a mixed track record of ousting dictators [43:42] without necessarily a plan for what comes afterwards. [43:45] Did that weigh on your decision-making? [43:46] Well, that's when we had different presidents, but with me that's not true. [43:49] With me, we've had a perfect track record of winning. [43:53] We win a lot, and we win if you look at Soleimani, you look at al-Baghdadi, [43:58] you look at the Midnight Hammer. [44:00] Midnight Hammer was incredible. [44:03] Right now you wouldn't have peace in the Middle East. [44:06] Essentially peace in the Middle East because of that. [44:08] If we weren't successful with Midnight Hammer, you wouldn't have peace in the Middle East. [44:13] So with me, you've had a lot of victory. [44:17] You've had only victories. [44:18] You've had no losses. [44:19] Yeah. [44:19] Mr. President, how long do you expect the U.S. to run Venezuela, [44:23] and how soon do you want Venezuelan people to hold elections? [44:26] So I'd like to do it quickly, but it takes a period of time. [44:30] We're rebuilding. [44:31] We have to rebuild their whole infrastructure. [44:33] Their infrastructure is rotted. [44:35] It's actually very dangerous. [44:36] It's blow-up territory. [44:38] Oil. [44:38] Oil is very dangerous. [44:39] It's a very dangerous thing to take out of the ground. [44:42] It can kill a lot of people. [44:44] It has killed a lot of people doing just that. [44:47] The infrastructure is old. [44:49] It's rotted. [44:50] Much of it is stuff that we put there 25 years ago, and we're going to be replacing it. [44:55] And we're going to take a lot of money out so that we can take care of the country. [45:00] Yeah. [45:01] Are you saying that Secretary Rubio and— [45:03] Mr. President, China, Russia, and Iran have interests in Venezuela. [45:08] How does this operation affect your relationships with them when it comes to the oil and drugs? [45:12] Well, in terms of China and Russia, well, Russia when we get things straightened out. [45:18] But in terms of other countries that want oil, we're in the oil business. [45:22] We're going to sell it to them. [45:23] We're not going to say we're not going to go there. [45:24] In other words, we'll be selling oil probably in much larger doses because they couldn't [45:30] produce very much because their infrastructure was so bad. [45:32] So we'll be selling large amounts of oil to other countries, many of whom are using it [45:37] now. [45:38] But I would say many more will come. [45:40] What is your message to the people of Venezuela? [45:42] Are you saying that— [45:43] Mr. President, are you saying that— [45:44] Go ahead. [45:45] Behind you, please. [45:46] Oh. [45:47] Mr. President, thank you. [45:48] What is your message to the people of Venezuela today? [45:50] Of course, the civilian population specifically, they have a lot of questions. [45:54] What is your message to the people of Venezuela? [45:55] That you're going to have peace, justice. [45:57] You're going to have some of the riches that you should have had for a long period of time [46:03] that was stolen from you. [46:04] But you're going to have peace, and you're going to have safety. [46:06] You're going to have justice. [46:07] You're going to have a country. [46:08] You're going to have a real country. [46:09] You're going to have potentially a great country. [46:11] You know, if you go back 20 years, maybe even a little longer ago, that was a great country, [46:16] and they destroyed it. [46:17] Remember, I said that if we lose this election, the United States will be Venezuela on steroids. [46:25] That's what would have happened had we lost the election, the 2024 election. [46:30] We suffered so badly. [46:31] When you look at the border from 2020, what they did, what Joe Biden administration did [46:37] to our country. [46:38] We would never be forgotten. [46:40] But if we had to go through another year of that, we wouldn't have. [46:43] We would be exactly where Venezuela was in terms. [46:46] I used to say, if they win, we're going to be Venezuela on steroids, and that's what [46:51] would have happened. [46:52] President, thank you. [46:53] Are you saying that Secretary Hegseth and Rubio are going to be running Venezuela? [46:57] And will you be sending in U.S. military troops to provide- [46:59] They're going to be a team that's working with the people of Venezuela to make sure [47:03] that we have Venezuela right. [47:05] Because for us to just leave, who's going to take over? [47:08] I mean, there is no- [47:09] There's nobody to take over. [47:10] You have a vice president who's been appointed by Maduro. [47:14] And right now, she's the vice president, and she's, I guess, the president. [47:17] She was sworn in as president just a little while ago. [47:20] She had a long conversation with Marco, and she said, we'll do whatever you need. [47:27] I think she was quite gracious. [47:28] But she really doesn't have a choice. [47:31] We're going to have this done right. [47:33] We're not going to just do this with Maduro, then leave like everybody else. [47:36] Leave and say, you know, let it go to hell. [47:38] Yeah. [47:40] It has zero chance of ever coming back. [47:43] We'll run it properly. [47:44] We'll run it professionally. [47:45] We'll have the greatest oil companies in the world going and invest billions and billions [47:49] of dollars and take out money, use that money in Venezuela. [47:54] And the biggest beneficiaries are going to be the people of Venezuela. [47:57] And also, I can't stress this strongly enough, the people that got thrown out of Venezuela [48:03] that are now in the United States, and frankly, some want to stay and some probably want to [48:06] go back. [48:10] Yeah. [48:11] Yeah. [48:12] What do you think? [48:13] What do you think? [48:14] What do you think? [48:15] What do you think? [48:16] What do you think? [48:17] I don't agree. [48:18] And were any of the detained Americans? [48:19] Well, right now, they're very protected because nobody's going to mess with us. [48:20] They're very protected. [48:21] The people of the, and we let them know that. [48:22] You better not touch one of them. [48:23] Are you concerned that bad elements of the Maduro regime will remain in place? [48:27] Well, we know who they are. [48:30] We're on them. [48:31] And they're acting much differently now than they would have acted two days ago. [48:35] OK, wait. [48:36] Behind you, please. [48:37] Mr. President, why is running a country in South America America first? [48:40] Well, I think it is. [48:42] Why? [48:43] Because we want to surround ourselves with good neighbors. [48:44] We want to surround ourselves with stability. [48:48] We want to surround ourselves with energy. [48:50] We have tremendous energy in that country. [48:52] It's very important that we protect it. [48:54] We need that for ourselves. [48:55] We need that for the world. [48:57] And we want to make sure we can protect it. [48:58] Yes, sir. [48:59] Please. [49:00] Go ahead. [49:01] Is there a message here for Cuba and Diaz-Canel? [49:02] Well, Cuba is an interesting case. [49:06] Cuba is not doing very well right now. [49:09] That system has not been a very good one for Cuba. [49:11] The people there have suffered for many, many years. [49:13] And I think Cuba is going to be something we'll end up talking about, because Cuba is [49:19] a failing nation right now, very badly failing nation. [49:22] And we want to help the people. [49:24] It's very similar in the sense that we want to help the people in Cuba, but we want to [49:28] also help the people that were forced out of Cuba and living in this country. [49:32] Do you want to say something about that, Marco, please? [49:34] Well, I mean, I just gave you a statement a few minutes ago about, you know, when the [49:38] president speaks, you should take him seriously. [49:40] Suffice it to say, you know, Cuba is a disaster. [49:42] It's run by incompetent, senile men, and in some cases, not senile, but incompetent [49:50] nonetheless. [49:51] It has no economy. [49:52] It's in total collapse. [49:53] And by the way, you know, they were, you know, all of the guards that helped protect Maduro, [49:57] this is well known, their whole spy agency, all that were full of Cubans. [50:00] I mean, they basically, it's amazing. [50:01] This poor island took over Venezuela in some cases. [50:05] One of the biggest problems the Venezuelans have is they have to declare independence [50:08] from Cuba. [50:09] They tried to basically colonize it from a security standpoint. [50:11] So, yeah, look, I lived in Havana. [50:12] And I've lived in Cuba. [50:13] And I was in the government. [50:14] I'd be concerned, at least a little bit. [50:15] Are you turning off the oil flow to Cuba from Venezuela? [50:16] Well, the president already announced a week ago that anything that's sanctioned, that's [50:22] sanctioned oil, it's not going to be allowed to get there. [50:25] So that's an existing... [50:26] Mr. President. [50:27] The answer is yes. [50:28] Mr. President. [50:29] Yes. [50:30] Are you aware of the location of opposition leader Machado? [50:31] And have you been in contact with her? [50:32] No, we haven't. [50:33] No, we haven't. [50:34] Mr. President. [50:35] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:36] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:37] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:38] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:39] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:40] Mr. President. [50:41] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:42] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:43] Mr. President. [50:44] Mr. President. [50:45] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:46] Mr. President. [50:47] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:48] How many head of state is about Machado? [50:49] Mr. President. [50:50] Mr. President. [50:51] On Monday... [50:52] Well, I think it would be very tough for her to be the leader. [50:53] She doesn't have the support within...or the respect within the country. [50:54] She's a very nice woman. [50:55] But she doesn't have the respect to be the leader. [50:56] Mr. President. [50:57] Is it possible that the U.S. ends up administrating Venezuela for years, you know, in a situation? [50:58] Well, you know, it won't cost us anything, because the money coming out of the ground [51:03] is very substantial. [51:04] So it's not going to cost us anything. [51:06] We will...well, we want safety there. [51:09] We want to be surrounded by countries that aren't housing all of our enemies all over [51:14] the world. [51:15] That's what was happening. [51:16] And you don't want to have that. [51:18] But we're going to be rebuilding. [51:21] And we're not spending money. [51:23] The oil companies are going to go in. [51:24] They're going to spend money. [51:25] They're going to...we're going to take back the oil that, frankly, we should have taken [51:28] back a long time ago. [51:30] A lot of money is coming out of the ground. [51:32] We're going to get reimbursed for all of that. [51:34] We're going to get reimbursed for all of that. [51:35] We're going to get reimbursed for everything that we spend. [51:37] So it's going to be...it's going to be a very important...it's going to be a very important...this [51:42] is a very big evening that took place last night. [51:45] We have to be surrounded by safe, secure countries. [51:49] And we also have to have energy, very important. [51:53] We have to have energy that's real energy, not where they're getting 4 percent and 5 [51:57] percent of the energy out of the ground. [51:59] You take a look. [52:00] It was such a disaster. [52:01] So what's going to happen with Venezuela, I think, over the next period of a year... [52:05] It's going to be a great thing. [52:07] And the people of Venezuela will be the biggest beneficiaries. [52:10] What did you last...Mr. President, thank you. [52:16] What did you last speak to Maduro about when you spoke? [52:19] And is the U.S. at war with Venezuela? [52:20] Well, I don't want to get into the conversations, but I did have conversations with him. [52:23] And I said, you got to surrender. [52:28] And I actually thought he was pretty close to doing so, but now he wished he did. [52:33] Yeah. [52:36] You said that Maduro is responsible for drug trafficking. [52:39] You recently pardoned the former president. [52:40] The former president of Honduras who was convicted of many drug trafficking. [52:43] Can you explain how these two situations are different? [52:45] And would you ever pardon Maduro? [52:46] Well, the... [52:47] Yeah. [52:48] I endorsed, as you know, the winning president, the man who won in Honduras. [52:51] I endorsed the man who won in Chile. [52:54] I endorsed the man who won in Argentina. [52:57] And we are doing very well with that whole group. [53:00] What the man that I pardoned was, if you could equate it to us, he was treated like the Biden [53:06] administration treated a man named Trump. [53:08] That didn't work out too well for them. [53:10] This was a man who was persecuted very unfairly. [53:14] He was the head of the country. [53:15] He was persecuted very unfairly. [53:17] And there are a number of them. [53:19] And we felt that it was a very unfair situation that happened to him. [53:23] He's also a party member of the man who won. [53:26] So obviously the people liked what I did. [53:29] And one of the reasons that was done is because of the fact that the party in power felt very [53:34] strongly that that man was treated very badly. [53:37] I studied it very quickly. [53:39] And then I studied it in great detail. [53:40] I went to a lot of the people standing behind me, and they felt that that man was persecuted [53:46] and treated very badly. [53:47] That's why I gave him a pardon. [53:48] You referenced boots on the ground earlier. [53:52] Can you just sort of button this up? [53:53] Do you envision the U.S. military having a presence in Venezuela as the U.S. runs that [53:58] country? [53:59] SECRETARY KERRY, Well, no, we're going to have a presence in Venezuela as it pertains [54:02] to oil, because we have to have – we're sending our expertise in. [54:07] So you may need something, not very much. [54:09] But no. [54:10] We're sending out a tremendous amount of wealth out of the ground. [54:14] And that wealth is going to the people of Venezuela and people from outside of Venezuela [54:18] that used to be in Venezuela. [54:20] And it goes also to the United States of America in the form of reimbursement for the damages [54:26] caused us by that country. [54:27] So I want to thank you all very much. [54:29] Thank you. [54:30] Do you have one? [54:31] Yes, please. [54:32] You were so nice before. [54:33] I'm going to give you the final question. [54:34] Go ahead. [54:35] Thank you, Mr. President. [54:36] SECRETARY KERRY, It's about Putin. [54:37] SECRETARY KERRY, Unless it's a bad question, in which case I'll go one more. [54:38] It's about who? [54:39] SECRETARY KERRY, It's about Putin. [54:40] Okay. [54:41] You had a phone – [54:42] SECRETARY KERRY, it's always nice to talk about Putin. [54:43] You had a phone call with him on Monday. [54:45] Did he talk at all about Maduro? [54:47] Did you all talk about this? [54:48] SECRETARY KERRY, No, we didn't. [54:49] We never spoke about Maduro. [54:50] Are you mad at him right now? [54:51] I mean, there's this intelligence – [54:52] SECRETARY KERRY, I'm not thrilled with Putin. [54:53] I'm not thrilled with Putin. [54:55] He's killing too many people. [54:58] I thought that would be so – I settled eight and one-quarter war. [55:03] You know what the one-quarter was? [55:05] Thailand and Cambodia did it again. [55:08] They were – they broke out, and I did it in about five hours. [55:12] And I settled it. [55:14] I'm giving myself one-quarter, so I'm up to now eight and one-quarter. [55:17] In other words, I settled the war, but then they broke out. [55:20] They had a pretty bad breakout over the last four days. [55:23] I got them to go back to peace, so I only give one-quarter. [55:27] I thought the easiest one would be – one of the easier ones would be Russia, Ukraine. [55:33] It's not. [55:34] And they both have done some pretty bad things. [55:38] And look, that's Biden's war. [55:40] That's not my war. [55:41] But I want to stop the lives. [55:43] Did you see? [55:44] Last month, 30,000 – this last – it was 27 – 27,000 the month before. [55:51] 30,000 mostly soldiers were killed this last month – 30,000. [55:58] I want to stop that. [55:59] You know, I got NATO to pay 5 percent instead of the 2 percent that they weren't paying. [56:05] They weren't paying two. [56:06] Now they pay five. [56:08] And we send them a lot of munitions. [56:10] We send them a lot of things – missiles and various other things – a lot. [56:14] And they pay. [56:14] The United States is not losing money. [56:16] We're probably making money on that. [56:18] It's the last thing I care about. [56:20] I just want to stop all those people. [56:22] We're losing 25,000, 30,000 human beings that come from two places that are very far [56:27] away. [56:29] But if I can stop – because it's something I've been pretty good at doing – deals, [56:33] I guess. [56:34] It's all a deal. [56:35] Life is a big deal. [56:37] But if I can stop that war and stop 30,000 young people – in addition to the fact that [56:42] people are being killed in Kiev. [56:44] People are being killed in other cities throughout – you know, a much smaller number. [56:48] But they're being killed, viciously killed. [56:51] So I'm not happy about it. [56:52] I thought that would be something that would get solved. [56:55] We have Mr. Witkoff here. [56:56] I think that we're making progress. [56:58] But that's a war that should have never happened. [57:01] If I were president, it would have never happened. [57:03] Putin says it. [57:04] Everybody says it. [57:05] If I were president, that would have never happened. [57:08] But I inherited that war. [57:10] That was Joe Biden, Zelensky, and Putin. [57:13] I came into it. [57:14] I came into the situation, and it's a mess. [57:17] And I will say this. [57:18] I watched an operation last night that was so precise, that was so brilliant. [57:23] I mean, it was incredible. [57:26] If we had our people, like this general and our people involved, that war – that war [57:32] would not have gone on very long, that I can tell you. [57:36] That war, to use an old term, that war has become a bloodbath, and we want it to get [57:42] stopped.
