Moreno Ruthlessly Grills Witness On Whether Americans Should Pay For Healthcare Of Illegal Aliens

[0:00] Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Thank you for having this hearing. [0:03] You know, there's an expression in sales that says, [0:05] facts get in the way of a good story. [0:07] And obviously the Democrats want to stick with the story [0:10] that Republicans are somehow for billionaires [0:14] and they're for the working class, [0:16] but obviously the facts are completely the opposite of that. [0:20] Talking about rural America, they get wiped out in rural America. [0:25] Rural American voters reject Democrats by wide margins. [0:29] You would think that they would look at that and go, [0:31] well, why is that? [0:32] So let me give you a little bit of the answer. [0:34] Your policies have destroyed American manufacturing. [0:37] You allowed these jobs to get shipped overseas to China, Mexico, [0:41] and our factories and places in Ohio got wiped out [0:46] because of those policies. [0:47] President Trump has put tariffs in place, [0:49] which have brought these manufacturing facilities [0:51] back to the United States of America, [0:53] and yet they've fought tooth and nail [0:55] every step of the way on tariffs. [0:57] You allowed drugs to come into our border, [1:00] across our border with impunity. [1:01] We had a completely wide open border [1:03] and allowed tens of millions of people to enter this country. [1:06] Cheap labor, that doesn't affect billionaires. [1:09] I don't think billionaires get replaced by illegals crossing our border, [1:13] but working Americans do. [1:15] They see massive wage suppression. [1:17] And so those are the policies that they've put in place. [1:21] And they actually shut down the government and wanted one of the ransom notes [1:25] was to get rid of the Rural Hospital Opportunity Fund. [1:28] They wanted to eliminate it. [1:30] None of them voted for it and they wanted to eliminate it. [1:32] Those are just facts. [1:34] The ranking member talked about the mom with two kids. [1:37] We're the party that cares about the mom with two kids. [1:40] We're the party that gave that mom a $2,000 child tax credit. [1:45] You voted against that. [1:46] We gave that mom an $1,800 child tax credit. [1:50] You voted against that. [1:51] If that mom worked for tips or overtime, you voted against that. [1:55] You're the one that wants to give able-bodied adults more money [2:01] than those kids that that mom has. [2:03] I think a little self-reflection on that should be part of the equation, [2:08] that those two things, just those two things, [2:12] the child tax credit and the daycare credit, [2:14] is $3,800 for that mom making $25,000 a year. [2:18] That's real money that you guys did not want to give that mom. [2:23] That was just your votes and those are just facts. [2:26] But when you did have control of Congress and the White House, [2:29] what did you do? [2:32] Did you help working Americans? No. [2:34] You passed a law that gave $7,500 to the wealthiest 0.01% of Americans [2:42] to buy luxury, to lease luxury electric vehicles. [2:47] So while the mom with two kids is making $25,000 a year struggling, [2:52] the person making tens of millions of dollars a year [2:55] could go into a Rolls-Royce dealership and get $7,500, [2:59] thanks to each and every one of you, to lease a Rolls-Royce Spectre. [3:03] Congratulations on that phenomenal policy. [3:07] Mr. Snyder, if somebody's in this country without permission, [3:12] should they be allowed to get healthcare on the backs of the American taxpayer? [3:17] Yes or no? [3:18] My own view is, if people need healthcare, they should receive it. [3:26] So you think that somebody who is here illegally [3:29] should have their healthcare paid for by the American taxpayer? [3:33] So we have a law in this country. [3:39] No, I'm just asking you, that's a simple yes or no question. [3:41] Somebody's in this country? [3:42] I agree with- [3:43] Somebody's, somebody's, let me just restate it. [3:45] Yes, if they need emergency care, yes. [3:48] So the taxpayer, the United States of America, [3:50] should pay for the healthcare of people who broke into this country illegally? [4:01] If you needed emergency healthcare and you went to any other country on Earth, [4:05] would you get it for free? [4:06] Well, the countries that I've gone to, yes. [4:10] You'd get healthcare for free if you went into it? [4:13] So for example, let's take Spain, which has incredibly difficult visa standards. [4:18] If you went to Spain and needed heart surgery, you think the Spanish government would give it to you gratis? [4:24] I can't speak to Spain. [4:25] But do you think that's, that's, but it's interesting. [4:28] I wonder if my Democrat colleagues would agree with that. [4:32] That if people who broke into this country illegally should get healthcare. [4:35] Mr. Schneider, if somebody broke into your home, would you make them dinner? [4:39] No, I would not. [5:41] And so the party that says they care about working Americans, this is why you keep losing [5:45] in rural America. [5:46] This is why you guys get wiped out in places like that. [5:49] Whether it's Virginia or Oregon, you do not win in the rural parts of your state. [5:55] You get absolutely crushed because of that kind of philosophy. [6:05] Just for the record, undocumented individuals are not eligible for Medicaid unless they're [6:11] in emergency, going to the emergency room under very limited circumstances. [6:15] And yes, those same services emergency are provided by many other nations if Americans are [6:21] traveling abroad for an emergency service. [6:23] Mr. Blaze, very quickly. [6:25] How many illegal immigrants do you think are on Medicaid? [6:28] Not beyond, beyond emergency services, but on Medicaid. [6:32] Do you have any estimate in California? [6:36] In California, it's considerable. [6:39] California got one of these provider tax schemes approved and then the next, got $10 billion [6:45] in federal funds without any state contribution.
