i will give [3:37] you riches and wealth and honor such as none of the kings have had that have been before you neither [3:44] shall there any after you have that like then solomon came from his threescore and ten thousand men to bear [5:02] burdens and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them [5:09] and solomon sent to huram the king of tyree saying as you did deal with my father david and did send [5:15] him cedars to build him a house to dwell therein even so deal with me behold i build a house to the [5:21] name of the lord my god solemn feast of the lord our god this is an ordinance forever to israel and the house which i built is [5:40] great for great is our god above all gods but who is able to build him a house seeing the score cubits in the breadth 20 cubits and [8:29] the porch was in front of the house length of it was according to the breadth of the house [8:34] 20 cubits the height was 120 and he overlaid it with pure gold and the greater house he sealed [8:40] with fir tree which he overlaid with fine gold and set there on palm trees and chains he garnished [8:45] the house with precious stones for beauty and the gold was gold purveum he laid overlaid the house [8:53] the beams the post the walls thereof and the doors thereof with gold and engraved the cherubins on the [8:57] walls and he made the most holy house the length whereof was according to the breadth of the house [9:04] 20 cubits and the breadth thereof 20 cubits he overlaid it with fine gold amounting to 600 talents and [9:10] the weight of the nails was 50 shekels of gold and he overlaid the upper chambers with gold in the most [9:15] holy house he made two cherubins of image work and overlaid them with gold and the wings of the [9:20] cherubins were 20 cubits long one wing of the one cherub was five cubits reaching to the wall of the [9:25] house and the other wing was at least five cubits it was likewise five cubits reaching to the wing of [9:29] the other cherub and one wing of the other cherub was five cubits reaching to the wall of the house [9:34] and the other wing was five cubits also joining to the wing of the other cherub the wings of these [9:39] These cherubim spread themselves forth 20 cubits, and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward. [9:47] And he made of the veil of blue and purple and crimson and fine linen and wrought cherubims thereon. [9:54] He also made before the house two pillars of 30, five cubits high, and the chapter that was on top of each with them was five cubits. [10:02] And he made the chains as in the oracle and put them in the heads of the pillars and made a hundred pomegranates and put them on the chains. [10:09] And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, the other on the left. [10:13] And he called the name of that on the right hand, Jaqen, and the name on that of the left, Boaz. [10:22] Moreover, he made an altar of brass, 20 cubits of length thereof and 20 cubits of the breadth thereof and 10 cubits of the height thereof. [10:30] He also made a molten sea of 10 cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits in height thereof, and a line of 30 cubits and decomposed around it. [10:40] And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass around it, 10 in cubit, compassing the sea around it, two rows of oxen were cast when it was cast. [10:53] It stood upon 12 oxen, three looking towards the north, three looking towards the west, and three looking towards the south, and three looking towards the east. [11:01] And the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. [11:07] And the thickness of it was a handbreadth, and the brim of it was like the work of the brim of a cup, and flowers of lilies, and it received and held 3,000 baths. [11:16] He made also 10 lavers and put five on the right hand and five on the left to wash in them. [11:21] Such things as they offered for burned offerings they washed in them, but the sea was for the priests to wash in. [11:28] And he made 10 candlesticks of gold according to their form, set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. [11:34] He made also 10 tables and placed them in the temple, five on the right side and five on the left, and he made 100 basins of gold. [11:40] Furthermore, he made the courts, court of the priests, and the great court, and the doors of the court overlaid the doors, them with brass. [11:47] And he set the sea on the right side, the east end, opposite the south. [11:51] Hiram made the pots and the shovels and the basins, and Hiram finished the work that he was to make for King Solomon, for the house of God. [11:58] That is, the two pillars, pommels and the chapters, which were on top of the two pillars, and the two wreaths to cover the two pommels of the chapters, which were on top of the pillars. [12:08] And 400 pomegranates on the two wreaths, two rows of pomegranates on each wreath, to cover the two pommels of the chapters, which were upon the pillars. [12:19] He made also the bases and labors upon the bases, one sea, twelve oxen under it. [12:25] The pot also, the shovels, the flesh hooks, and all their instruments did Hiram and his father make to King Solomon for the house of the Lord of Bright Brass. [12:35] In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them. [12:37] Solomon in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeradeath. [12:43] Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance, for the weight of the brass could not be found out. [12:50] And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God. [12:54] The golden altar also, the tables where on the showbread was set. [12:58] Moreover, the candlesticks with their lamps that they should burn after the manor before the oracle of pure gold. [13:05] And the flowers and the lamps and the tongs made he of gold that perfect gold. [13:12] And the snuffers and the basins and the spoons and the censers of pure gold in the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof, for the most holy place. [13:22] And the doors of the house of the temple were of gold. [13:25] And thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the Lord was finished. [16:07] And Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated. [16:11] And the silver and the gold and all the instruments put he among the treasures of the house of God. [16:20] Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel in all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel to Jerusalem, [16:29] to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion. [16:35] Wherefore, all the men of Israel assembled themselves to the king in the feast, which was in the seventh month. [16:44] And all the elders of Israel came and the Levites took up the ark and they brought up the ark and the tabernacle of the congregation and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle. [16:58] These did the priests and the Levites bring up also King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled to him before the ark. [17:07] And the priests brought in the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude. [17:15] And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. [17:29] For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. [17:37] And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle, but they were not seen without. [17:47] And there it is to this day. [17:51] There was nothing in the ark, save the two tablets which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt. [18:00] And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, for all the priests that were present were sanctified and did not then wait by course. [18:11] Also the Levites, which were the singers, all of them, of Asaph, of Haman, of Jedethon, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets. [18:34] It came to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord. [18:44] And when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praised the Lord, saying, [18:51] For he is good, for his mercy endures forever, that then the house was filled with the cloud, even the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud. [19:10] For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. [19:13] Then said Solomon, The Lord has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness, but I have built a house of habitation for you and a place for your dwelling forever. [19:27] And the king turned his face and blessed the whole congregation of Israel and all the congregation of Israel stood. [19:35] And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who has with his hands fulfilled that which his mouth he spoke to my father David, saying, [19:49] Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that my name might be there. [20:00] Neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel, but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there, and have chosen David to be over my people Israel. [20:16] Now it was in the heart of David, my father, to build a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. [20:22] But the Lord said to David, my father, For as much as it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well in that it was in your heart. [20:32] But notwithstanding, you shall not build the house, but your son, which shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house for my name. [20:43] The Lord therefore has performed his word that he has spoken. [20:47] For I am risen up in the room of David, my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, [20:55] and have built the house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. [20:59] And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord that he made with the children of Israel. [21:08] And he stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands. [21:15] For Solomon had made a brazen scaffold of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court. [21:24] And upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven, and said, [21:36] O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you in the heaven nor in the earth, which keeps covenant and shows mercy to your servants that walk before you with all their hearts. [21:51] You which have kept with your servant David, my father, that which you have promised him, and spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is this day. [22:03] Now therefore, O Lord God of Israel, keep with your servant David, my father, that which you have promised him, saying, [22:10] There shall not fail you a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel, yet so that your children take heed to walk in my law as you have walked before me. [22:23] Now then, O Lord God of Israel, let your word be verified, which you have spoken to your servant David. [22:33] But will God in very deed dwell with men on earth? [22:37] Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you, how much less this house which I have built. [22:45] Have respect, therefore, to the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken to the cry and the prayer which your servant prays before you. [22:56] That your eyes may be opened upon this house day and night, upon the place whereof you have said that you would put your name there, to hearken to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place. [23:09] Hearken, therefore, to the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel, which they shall make toward this place. [23:18] Hear you from your dwelling place, even from heaven, when you hear, forgive. [23:24] If a man sin against his neighbor and an oath be laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath come before your altar in this house, then hear you from heaven and do and judge your servants by requiting the wicked, by recompensing his way upon his own head, and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness. [23:50] And if your people Israel be put to the enemy, because they have sinned against you, and shall return and confess your name, and pray and make supplication before you in this house, then hear you from the heavens and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them again to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers. [24:14] When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you, yet if they pray toward this place and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you do afflict them, then hear you from heaven, and forgive the sin of your servants and of your people Israel, when you have taught them the good way, wherein they should walk and send rain upon your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance. [24:46] If there be dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locusts or caterpillars, if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land, whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be, then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all your people Israel, when everyone shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house, [25:15] Then hear you from heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know, for you only know the hearts of the children of men, that they may fear you to walk in your ways, so long as they live in the land which you gave to our fathers. [25:40] Moreover, concerning the stranger, which is not of your people of Israel, but has come from a far country for your great name's sake, and your mighty hand, and your stretched out arm, if they come and pray in this house, [25:55] Then hear you from the heavens, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for, that all the people of the earth may know your name, and fear you, and do as your people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by your name. [26:17] If your people go out to war against their enemies, by the way that you shall send them, and they pray to you toward this city which you have chosen, and the house which I have built for your name, [26:30] Then hear you from the heavens their prayer, and their supplication, and maintain their cause. [26:38] If they sin against you, for there is no man which sins not, and you be angry with them, and deliver them over before their enemies, [26:48] And they carry them away captives, to a land far off or near, yet if they bethink themselves in the land where they were carried captive, [26:59] And turn and pray to you in the land of their captivity, saying, [27:02] We have sinned, we have done amiss, and have dealt wickedly. [27:07] If they return to you with all their heart, with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, [27:13] Where they have carried them captives, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, [27:20] And toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house which I have built for your name, [27:28] Then hear you from the heavens, even your dwelling place, their prayer, and their supplications, [27:34] And maintain their cause, and forgive your people which have sinned against you. [27:41] Now, my God, let I beseech you, that your eyes be opened, [27:46] And that your ears be attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. [27:50] Now, therefore, arise, O Lord God, into your resting place, [27:56] You and the ark of your strength. [27:59] Let your priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, [28:02] And let your saints rejoice in goodness. [28:06] O Lord God, turn not away the face of your anointed. [28:10] Remember the mercies of David, your servant. [28:14] Now, when Solomon had made an end of praying, [28:19] The fire came down from heaven, [28:22] And consumed the burnt offering, and the sacrifices, [28:25] And the glory of the Lord filled the house. [28:28] And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, [28:31] Because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. [28:36] And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, [28:40] And the glory of the Lord upon the house, [28:43] They bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, [28:48] And worshipped and praised the Lord, saying, [28:50] For he is good, his mercy endures forever. [28:57] Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. [29:03] And King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, [29:08] And a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. [29:11] So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. [29:17] And the priests waited in their offices, [29:20] The Levites also with instruments of music of the Lord, [29:24] Which David, the king, had made to praise the Lord, [29:27] Because his mercy endures forever. [29:31] When David praised by their ministry, [29:34] And the priests sounded trumpets before him, [29:38] And all Israel stood. [29:39] Moreover, Solomon hallowed the middle of the court [29:45] That was before the house of the Lord. [29:48] For there he offered burned offerings, [29:51] And the fat of the peace offerings, [29:53] Because the brazen altar which Solomon had made, [29:58] Was not able to receive the burnt offerings, [30:00] And the meat offerings, and the fat. [30:03] Also at the same time, Solomon kept the feast seven days. [30:08] And all Israel with him, [30:10] A very great congregation, [30:11] From the entering in of Hamath to the river of Egypt. [30:17] And in the eighth day, [30:18] They made a solemn assembly, [30:21] For they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, [30:24] And the feast seven days. [30:27] And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month, [30:32] He sent the people away into their tents, [30:35] Glad and merry in heart for the goodness [30:37] That the Lord had showed to David, [30:40] And to Solomon, [30:43] And to Israel, [30:44] His people. [31:45] And now my eyes shall be open, [31:47] And my ears attent, [31:49] To the prayer that is made in this place. [31:52] For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, [31:55] That my name may be there forever, [31:58] And my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. [35:14] And these were the chief of King Solomon's officers, [35:18] Even 250 that bore rule over the people. [35:23] And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh [35:25] Out of the city of David, [35:27] To the house that he had built for her. [36:15] And he appointed according to the order of David his father, [36:19] The courses of the priests to their service, [36:22] And the Levites to their charges, [36:25] To praise and minister before the priests, [36:28] As the duty of every day required. [36:31] The porters also by their courses at every gate, [36:37] For so had David the man of God commanded. [36:41] And they departed not from the commandments of the king, [36:44] To the priests and Levites concerning any manner, [36:49] Or concerning the treasures. [36:51] Now all the work of Solomon was prepared [36:55] To the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord, [36:59] And until it was finished, [37:00] So the house of the Lord was perfected. [37:04] Then went Solomon to Ezangibur, [37:12] And to Eloth at the seaside in the land of Edom. [37:17] And Hiram sent him by the hands of his servants' ships, [37:23] And servants that had knowledge of the sea. [37:25] And they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir. [37:30] And they took from there 450 talents of gold, [37:36] And brought them to the king Solomon. [37:39] When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, [37:46] She came to prove Solomon with heart.
